Favourite lyrics from ‘Louis Tomlinson’ Songs:
Disclaimer: I love all of Louis’ songs and think he is an incredibly talented lyricist. His lyrics often make me feel emotions I wasn’t expecting, and get me into deep spirals of thought.
Faith In The Future
All This Time: It’s not how you spend the time, it’s if you waste it // And I keep on building mountains hoping that they’ll turn to gold but the truth is I still doubt that what I do can get me home // Our eyes meet and I can tell that you’re the same as me
Saturdays: I’m gazing at the floor somebody’s got your trainers on the ones the ones that you wore when you walked out the door // We always used to say Saturdays take the pain away // Through my cigarette A shadow of you sticks me to the carpet // My heart might be broken but I won’t be broken down
Holding Onto Heartache: Creates the strangest feelin’ just slowly waitin’ for the end // The moments never shown to us because we faded into darkness // You know the parties over when you’re standing in an empty space alone // Nothing’s ever easy to be honest, I’m not easy on myself
Face The Music: Love and hate are in-between depends on your reality to see them // So one more night I’m gonna choose I don’t wanna face the music but I still wanna dance with you // Close your eyes and count to ten If you’re standin’ on the edge of fallin’ // Let’s buy some time
The Greatest: Said I had a plan for us time, it came and changed it all we had to disappear // Back dancin’ in the dark back to the very start finding pieces we can fit making up for what we missed // It’s you and me until the end life for us is never over
That’s The Way Love Goes: Remember when you told me I should give it time? well, here’s the chance for you to take your own advice // When it cuts you, when you bleed that’s when you’re feelin’ it the most // Not gonna ask you, but we’ll make sure your okay who cares? It’s her loss anyway
Chicago: They say, “bitter ends turn sweet in time” is that true of yours and mine? // Has it been long enough that you can forgive me? Just because it didn’t work, doesn’t mean it’s meaningless to me // ‘Cause I’ve been wondering what you’d say would you have told me to keep goin’? or would you say to walk away?
Headline: Sometimes, I wake up, and I hear you through the silence // You let your pride hide all your beauty and your kindness // So many reasons now you’re not mine // You never told me never I guess I never knew we’d have the shortest forever // Thought I could, but I can’t forget you
Silver Tongues: You said love was a pretty lie // you smile at me and say, “It’s time to to go” but I don’t feel like goin’ home // you say grass was a dirty drug you like to preach with a vodka in your mug // you and me until the end wakin’ up to start again
Angels Fly: There’s a time for sayin’ who did what where it went wrong, I wanna hear all that, but right now what I need you to know is // You’ll be okay, we can talk tomorrow I’m on my way with some time to burrow // I won’t say a word, it can wait ‘til morning // put the pain behind you now you don’t need it anymore // there were problems in this empty bottle at the bottom, but we drained all that (My ultimate favourite of FITF)
She Is Beauty We Are World Class: Conversation is currency shapes become language // Escape the inevitable fade into light soak up the empathy // Has it been all this before? Do you see what I see?
Bigger Than Me: When somebody told me I would change I used to hide behind a smile // I didn’t read the signs walking different lines I know I took a left trying to make it right // I was afraid, I don’t know why ‘cause so does the world outside I’ve realised and it’s bigger than me
Common People: I Came from a good home A house full of terrace dreams that was enough for me // The mistakes and the heartaches when I get lost, I go back to where I started // I took head of the local no deep pockets, only big hearts do you see what I see?
Out Of My System: I never wanna go slowly I only wanna go faster towards disaster // I am only half of what I think I can be // I’ve lived a lot of my life already but I gotta get though the rest // I’m taking all of my demons puttin’ them where I won’t see them ‘cause I just wanna feel alive
Written All Over Your Face: A hurricane behind the door so, I’ve come ready for a war // When we’ve finished saying nothing can we, please, get back to loving?
Lucky Again: I see how hard you’ve worked to be yourself // But I figured it out, then made my way back to a life I would choose // Before the world, it got so serious before the time, it got away from us // Whatever get you through the darkest night just find the light out in the darkness, hold tight // I’m a hard man to find but you figured it out and I love you for that
Walls
Defenceless: “wish I didn’t need so much of you” I hate to say but I do // we’re sleeping on our problems like we’ll solve them in our dreams // And I can’t get inside when you’re lost in your pride but you don’t have a thing to prove // And I’m too tired to be tough just wanna be loved by you
Only The Brave: Set fire to history I’m breaking my own rules // I’ve been close enough to touch but I never cared for love // And it’s only hello, hello, no goodbye. (One of my favourites from Walls)
Walls: The day you walked away and took the higher ground was the day I became the man that I am now // Nothing makes you hurt like hurtin’ who you love // For every question why, you were my because // So this one is a thank you for what you did to me why is it that thank-yous are so often bittersweet?
Always You: I went to Tokyo to let it go drink after drink but I still felt alone // Walked through the door but it felt nothing like home ‘cause you’re not home //
Too Young: I’ve been looking back a lot lately me and you is all I’ve ever known It’s hard to think you could ever hate me // Now we can finally have conversation that I wish we could’ve had before // Now I realise yeah, I realise we were too young to know we had everythin’ // It’a been two years since I’ve seen your face I’m trying to find some better words to say before I let this moment slip away
Two Of Us: This morning I woke up still dreaming with memories playing through my head // Even when I’m on my own I know I won’t be alone // I can feel your blood run through me you’re written in my DNA looking back in every mirror // We’ll end just like we started just you and me and no one else
Perfect Now: You don’t feel pretty and It’s hard to miss I wish you could see my point of view as someone starin’ back at you // Just keep your head up, love, keep your head up don’t hide away don’t ever change // I guess some queens don’t need a crown and I know why // You never do but if you asked me too I’ll tell the truth lying next to you // You make me feel like being someone good to you, even at your worst. (My ultimate favourite from Walls)
Fearless: Tell me, do you still remember feeling young? And strong enough to get it wrong // Now if happiness is always measured by the life you designed that car on the drive then you should feel better than ever but you know as well as I it’s all lies
Kill My Mind: And you hate me, and I want more // And ya won’t let go of you hold on me // Kept me living from the last time from a prison of a past life
Don’t Let It Break Your Heart: Life get hard and it gets messed up when you give so much, but it’s not enough // And what hurts you is gonna pass and you’ll have learnt from it when it comes back
We Made It: Now, we’re saying goodbye, waving to the hard times yeah, it’s gonna be alright, like the first time // Share a single bed and tell each other what we dream about things we’d never say to someone else out loud // Oh god, what I could’ve become don’t know why they put this all on us when we’re so young
Habit: I always said that I’d mess up eventually I told you that, so what did you expect from me? // I took some ‘cause I ran out of energy of playing someone I heard I’m supposed to be // You gave me the time and the space I was out of control and I’m sorry, I let you down
Others
Just Hold On: Feels like you’re standing on the edge looking at the stars and wishing you were them // Where do you go when the story’s done? you can be who you were or who you’ll become // The sun goes down and it comes back up the world it turns, no matter what // It’s not over ‘til it’s all been said It’s not over ‘till your dying breath
Just Like You: But you only get half of the story the cash, and the cars and the glory // ‘Cause nobody cares when you’re boring // yeah, I feel the same as you do same stress, same shit to go through // I’m just like you if you only knew // Yeah, I get sad too and when I’m down I need somebody to talk to // Every heart breaks the same every tear leaves a stain can’t I just be same?
Back To You: These days I don’t even know myself // I tell myself I’m done with wicked games but then I get so numb with all the laughter that I forget about the pain
Miss You: Just one more pint of five does it even matter anyway? // Just like that and I’m sober I’m asking myself, “is it over?” // And all of these thoughts and the feelings cheers to that if you don’t need them // We can’t even be on the phone now and I can’t even be with you alone now // we were in love and now we’re strangers // When I feel it coming up, I just throw it all away get another two shots ‘cause it doesn’t matter anyway
Copy Of A Copy Of A Copy: It’s an old curse dreamers diving head first // Nothing is original there’s nothing left to say // I can hear you howling until your lungs hurt so let this be your comfort // In a strange way all in this together been this way forever

No bc it's like. They don't even use fire imagery THAT much as songwriters. Which tbh it's even weird considering that it's a very versatile simile and a staple for writers everywhere. Fire is usually the perfect simile for passion, for sex, for love; but also pain and fleeting relationships, as they burn out; it can be a symbol of home (the hearth around which we gather) and destruction.
If we pretend for a second that they're not That Skilled, and their recurring use of metaphor and imagery is just a coincidence because they're naive in their writing and they're able to apply only those few images to anything they write about without them being linked thematically, one would assume that fire would be every-fucking-where.
But the element of fire (or being immune to it) is actually... Pretty limited. Like yes, there are references in passing to heat/fire being linked to passion, but the Most we get, especially back in 1D days, it's actually fire as a synonym to adversities in the relationship. Even more: it's fire as public scrutiny.
Love truly is a church of burnt romances, isn't it?
(On read more bc I went full Unhinged on the fire imagery)
And the thing is. The thing is. As it very often happens with these two, the best image that can explain the relationship between their writing is the relationship between the I can't change tattoo and the quote tattoo: both could have meaning alone, but one gives you additional context to fully understand the other. We don't understand completely what Louis is getting at in his writing unless we take into account Harry's own. It is as beautiful as it is maddening.
The fire imagery starts as early as Story of my life (in which they ALL have writing credits), where they say
And I'll be gone, gone tonight The fire beneath my feet is burning bright The way that I've been holding on so tight With nothing in between
Now, story of my life is a song about a relationship ending, right? I think we can all agree on that. It's also a story about a heart that feels caged even thought it's set free. Right now we won't get into the song analysis because for one, I'm on a time crunch, and second: i feel like a headache incoming because too many people put their hands on these lyrics and you can physically feel it when you read them.
But I urge you to look at the position of the fire. The fire is beneath the writer's feet. He's walking in the path of it, but it's not as much hurting as it's lighting the way (towards the muse?). This isn't (yet) highlighting the very real sacrifice of walking through fire for someone you love, the fire is low on the ground. It's bearable. It's even a guide. This has Louis Tomlinson written all over it. We don't know what the fire represents yet.
There's a mention of "lighting the fire in your eyes" in Diana but I do feel like we can easily write that off as inconsequential because... That's your average metaphor for passion/zest of life.
And then! We get the key to this puzzle! Harry Styles' own Happily. Here, the fire is evoked through the chorus of "we're on fire". As we've said, fire could be Anything: could be passion, could be destruction, could be pain, could be the safety of home. We were standing with fire beneath our feet just a few songs ago, now we're on fire. Completely.
And the thing about happily is that it's truly an interesting song: right off the bat, it's about a relationship not being able to continue despite being "meant to be" because a "twist of fate" made them unable to work out. Fire is a destructive force, coming from the outside, that is burning the both of them. They had to walk away BECAUSE they ARE on fire. Still, even after they supposedly walked away. The fire here is both linked as the reason of their split, and to the very next lines, which feel like an admission: "I don't care what people say when we're together / you know I want to be the one to hold you when you sleep". So, they're on fire and he says he doesn't care about people's opinions and he wants to leave everything to be with the muse. Fire is painful, and leaving seems to be the solution to its extinction.
Fire is the public scrutiny, right? Right?
Now, whether you interpret this song as about miss swift of our homeboy, it's up to you, but... there are still people who would Die to have Haylor back (I'm one of them, bc if anything they seem to be actually civil w/ each other and ANYTHING would be better than another ratty healy). Like. I don't care what people say when we're together??? The fuck were they saying that was so disagreeable to YOU about America's sweetheart hooking up with the hot one of 1D? Babyboy??? Also the idea of miss Americana herself wanting to leave the industry... Don't make me laugh. I'm not saying she didn't bear the brunt of whatever stunt they were pulling bc boy SHE DID, but that woman wouldn't leave her place in the music industry for ANYTHING. I love her but as much as she might sometimes yearn a regular life now, I don't believe for ONE fucking second she would actually leave. And I don't believe for one fucking second that her in 2012, when she was starting to go big Big, would actually express the desire to leave. Not miss "will you still love me when I'm nothing new".
You know who actually mentions finally being ready to leave with his lover? One guess, if you didn't think of Mr Ready to Run himself, you're out.
So. Fire, to Harry in between 2012 and 2013, is public scrutiny. It's living in the spotlight. If we didn't live in the spotlight, we would be able to stay together and you wouldn't need to be with that other person who probably doesn't know I touched your skin (which, if we believe this is about Haylor, it's doubly funny. Who the FUCK didn't know about the two of them. We were BOMBARDED). It's something that will consume the author and the muse, that has already caused damage to them and they should try to escape.
This idea of fire meaning public scrutiny, meaning being in the spotlight, retroactively could give more meaning to the story of my life line, because that same fire that was burning bright, the same existence of the spotlight, guided the author to his muse. If it weren't for the fire illuminating the way, they wouldn't be able to be together.
Interesting.
Then we get to Through the dark. Oh Louis Tomlinson you absolute unit of a man I love how optimistic you are. Because reading H's lyrics is always like the most apocalyptic pov you could imagine, and then L's are like "ok this is the same situation but fucks sake put a positive spin on it". This is very much a conversation. It's the most compelling thing ever I think we should have full writing analysis courses on it.
I'm not gonna do a full writing analysis on it, bc while this one is more linear than story of my life, I still am on a time crunch and i want to get this out before i have to go, but, yeah. The muse is sad and ashamed and running away, which does ring some bells, and the author is gently telling them:
But don't burn out Even if you scream and shout It'll come back to you And I'll be here for you
Oh. Is the muse perhaps... On fire? While being ashamed, which is a very public-oriented emotion? While screaming, perhaps something that's close to "I don't care what people say when we're together"? I don't know, just checking!
The song goes on to say:
Oh, I would carry you over fire and water for your love And I will hold you closer, hope your heart is strong enough When the night is coming down on you We will find a way through the dark
Let's just ignore the way that this mirrors and completes the scenario of "I just want to be the one who holds you when you sleep" and focus on the fire. Yes, this is a very classic and average love declaration - I love them but using the elements this way is not groundbreaking - but it's interesting anyway.
First of all: once again, fire is an external danger that accompanies the relationship. It's not related to the passion, which is SO strange to me because love being linked to fire would be pretty par for the course, but is always, always, something external that attacks the author and the muse. Here, the author is begging the muse not to let the fire, the threat of the public scrutiny, consume them (the muse) completely. From this it would seem that only the muse is on fire, but the chorus tells us otherwise: it's the author offering to carry them over the fire. This implies, a. the fire is a temporary threat, and b. They're both touched by it. They're both on fire, even if apparently unburned (...yeah, we'll get to that later). This also goes on to tell us that, to L, the fire is the same fire of Story of my life, it is the fire beneath their feet. It is still originating from the path they walk on, and while in Happily the perception is that they have caught fire with the contact to the road they're walking on, L seems more ambiguous: by carrying the muse over the fire, he seems to imply that this would shield them from it, leaving the author as the only one touched by the fire (being scrutinised by the public).
The water mention IS interesting but I fear I haven't done enough of a deep dive to have a good grasp on its meaning. Because oh boi, I'm sure it has meaning. Don't worry for a second I don't doubt Mr Compass and Rope and Mr ship and anchor have a very deep and complex relationship with water and bodies of water. I just feel like it doesn't represent the hardships of the relationship in here as consistently as fire does.
Little white lies starts with a nice "if the room was burning I wouldn't even notice" but I'm sorry I don't feel like this is as relevant to the trend. It's too much of a figure of speech.
Same goes for No Control which, in their 1D days, it's literally the only outlier we have re: "they don't use fire to indicate passionate love". It's also SO blink and you miss it I usually wouldn't even think about it.
And now, onto our queen Fireproof!
The thing about homegirl (pun absolutely intended) here is that you simply... Would not get it if you didn't have the context from all the other queens here. There's a fucking clear development in the concept of what being on fire means. And the thing is: most of these songs were penned by Mr Tomlinson himself, which would make you think this is simply self-referential and thus we know nothing about the muse. But the key of interpretation, the one that makes it all make sense, comes from Mr Styles himself. If we didn't have happily, we wouldn't know why the fuck these people are fireproof. Like, we could try to imagine, but we wouldn't know! The only reason why it makes sense for them to be fireproof in 2014, after "so long", is because they have been on fire since late 2012!
Because, for a song that has its chorus about being immune to fire, one would think the rest of Fireproof would describe said fire that attacked the relationship. Y'know, to be coherent to the theme and everything.
Except it's not. Fireproof, as a song, has nothing to do with fire. If there's a natural element dominating the song, it's wind and, even more, currents. (Y'know, those things ships have to ride to sail the sea.)
One could argue that there are references to fire to build up to the chorus, specifically in the second verse:
I'm feeling something deep inside,
Hotter than a jet stream burning up,
I got a feeling deep inside,
It's taking, it's taking all I got, yeah,
It's taking, it's taking all I got.
Except... Jet streams are wind currents. Interestingly, they can be either very hot like this one, or very cold, which is presumably what comes out later.
They're not directly linked with fires and flames and being on fire, which brings us back to the fact that there's absolutely no lead up in the song to the fact that author and muse have withstood the fire for so long they must be fireproof. Also, it wouldn't make sense for the jet stream burning up to be linked to the fire imagery, because fire is always external for them.
This one here, this hot current is internal, which makes me think that it has something to do with internal states and feelings and will. It is something intangible that has a force on itself and could change something of their fate, but only if aided by luck. Also, it is both tied to fire, as we see here, and water and bodies of water (as we also see here!) Interestingly, the act of rolling itself could both be tied to the movement of currents and the roll of the dice. (Note to self: Oh god, I have to track even wind now. I hate my brain. We'll come back to this at some point.)
Wind is an interesting element to pair with fire, because it can either fan the flame or extinguish it.
Here, we see both: the current goes at first to fan the flame and make it reach a greater height (I roll and I roll till I'm out of luck, the jet stream is burning up) and then to dim the fire:
I think I'm gonna win this time,
Riding on the wind and I won't give up,
I think I'm gonna win this time,
I roll and I roll, 'til I change my luck, yeah,
I roll and I roll, 'til I change my luck
First of all: as I said before, y'know, to set sails on a ship you need the right wind. Which, Mr My hand your hand tied up like two ships, maybe did not know that! Who knows! Here it's not stated that the wind is actually dimming the fire, but the opposing way this goes from the first two verses makes it easy to guess. The wind changes, maybe temperature, maybe direction, and something changes for the state of the fire.
But that doesn't actually matter, because they're fireproof. They've survived the test of fire, which, at this point, poses more as an inescapable existential condition: sure, the wind can reduce or maximize the intensity, but it cannot alone turn off a fire this big. They've been under public scrutiny for so long, nothing will actually take them off of it. But they've gotten used to it, and it didn't burn them, because they are fireproof.
And, once again, we COULD grasp a lil bit of what it means to be "fireproof" from the chorus and common sense, but the context is, still, residing within Happily. You could NOT have the full context without that song confirming it for you. I hate it here.
I would love to finish off here but we have two more songs with the fire imagery from MITAM. Which are both interesting in the evolution of the fire and what it means for them, because once again: none of these songs view fire as a positive force or a sign of good passion.
Honourable mention to my good friend End of the day bc it goes
I said you're on fire babe then down came the lightning on me Love can be frightening for sure
which is an interesting callback to the fact that they're both on fire, since... Y'know, one thing you can rely on is the fact that a person who is struck by lighting will catch fire. There's no indication of what the fire actually means here, it seems at the start to be something with a positive connotation, maybe related to passion, but also, like, three verses later
All I know at the end of the day Is you want what you want and you say what you say And you'll follow your heart even though it'll break Sometimes All I know at the end of the day Is you love who you love, there ain't no other way
I'm sorry, is this 1D's "you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls"? Here the element of public scrutiny tied to fame is dimmed, but it's very highlighted another element: the same scrutiny would come even without fame being an element of it.
The priest thinks it's the devil, my mum thinks it's the flu But girl it's only you
Okay Catholic guilt! (I'm not even sure he's Catholic but like...) Okay being punished by a higher power for loving who you love! I guess! I get that mr no control is apparently insatiable (I did NOT need to know), but give me a good fucking reason why the priest would think it's the DEVIL.
And even here, the fire is Not that much explained.
If you want me to be reaching, I could easily say that the existential condition to the fire is deepened in this: not only is it public scrutiny that haunts them, the idea of what the public would say follows them even when they're completely alone (they're supposed to be on the roof alone). It is haunting them, even at their happiest, but the author doesn't care (they're still fireproof):
If there's something I've learnt from a million mistakes You're the one that I want at the end of the day
Our last stop is, sadly, Long way down. Long way down is the actual outlier in their 1D production because it's the first time they actually burn. I would love nothing more than to think that it was written before End of the day, but I know Nothing and the track list goes like this, so.
We made a fire Went down in the flames We sailed an ocean And drowned in a wave Built a cathedral But we never prayed We had it all, yeah And we walked away
Oh boy. I wish I could point this to Mr Tomlinson and compare it to my good friend Only for the brave. Just. I'm sorry babes. A
Anyway, we're still talking fire here and I feel like it's interesting that it's still something external to the people in the relationship, but also it's something they're taking ownership of: we made this fire. We decided to become this. We wanted the fame and the public eye on us, and that was what destroyed us.
It's depressing, but it ties to the author asking in Through the dark for the muse not to burn out.
In the end, they both did. They both went down.
Want to end this on a nice note, because even thought I haven't finished with their solo albums analysis, what struck me as amazing is how the one who goes back to the fire metaphor is not even Louis (if we don't count the fucking church of burnt romances), but H, when in Adore you goes:
I'd walk through fire for you
Just let me adore you
Which. Is insane. Not even for the fire imagery bc that's... Kinda average. Walking through fire for someone is the kind of imagery Every songwriter has used at least once. But it's so moving the idea that he doesn't do it for the muse's love (like, two verses before he says "you don't have to say you love me"), but just for the chance of being able to love. To love as an action, to love as a gift for both the giver and the receiver.
The fire is still scary, is still present, but it's also something you can go through, something that some day will end and will lead H to his muse. We're back to the fire beneath the author's feet, the one that is burning brightly and might guide him towards his muse. To the idea first presented to us by Through the dark, that you will go through something as painful as a path of fire just for the one you love, possibly shielding them (here it seems like the author is offering to be the one going through the fire while the muse stays put).
This is me freeballing here bc I haven't run the numbers yet (BC yknow...... I don't have that much free time) but I think there's something to be said about the main metaphor for the adversity in the relationship shifting from fire to water. I don't know yet what it says, but I feel like there is something there

hello and welcome to this month’s fic rec featuring my favourite works from what i’ve read during the past weeks. as always, please check tags before reading. if you liked the fics please reblog their posts, leave kudos and write a nice comment. june is pride month and my birthday month, hence the rainbow balloons hehe. happy reading! 🔒 = only for ao3 users rec tag | more rec lists

໑ All This Time by @allwaswell16 T, 1k, a/b/o summary: Louis Tomlinson had been best friends with flower shop owner Gemma Styles for years. It wasn't until she suggested he date her alpha brother that he ever thought of Harry that way. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea... note: this was a gift to me for my birthday and i cherish it so much!
໑ routine surveillance by @disgruntledkittenface E, 2.6k, wankfest summary: Harry’s training period for the Bureau consists of routine surveillance. One night, it becomes a little less routine.
໑ Harry, That Kills People by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup T, 2.7k, wankfest summary: If there’s one thing that Harry hates, it’s getting his clothes dirty. If there’s one other thing that Harry hates, it’s murder. Unfortunately, right here and right now, Harry’s clothes are dirty, and he’s murdered someone. So. It’s not a great day. “Ugh,” says Harry. “Yeargh. Bleh.”
໑ 🔒 Like a Fire Burning in Your Veins by Stria / @nooradeservedbetter E, 2.8k, pwp summary: But first kinks are never forgotten, so to speak, and Harry can’t help but go back to them, alone and with Louis, over and over again. Can’t help but ask for bruises and pinches and slaps, can’t help but get on his knees in a bathroom stall, mouth full of dick while Louis bites on his fingers to avoid screaming. (Or, the one with the pain.)
໑ Livin' In A Daydream by @lululawrence NR, 3,3k, wankfest summary: See, Harry had learned his lesson. In order to protect Louis’ clothing and ensure everything was able to be thoroughly washed the first time, Harry had to go through each item individually. He would never be able to forgive himself if he didn’t go through the basketful and then he accidentally destroyed a beloved band shirt or something. One line from the song Harry had previously been humming was now stuck in his mind on repeat, but it wasn’t bothering him yet so he allowed it to stay for the moment. The words he knew flowed with the music, and he subconsciously tried to figure out the missing lyrics as he mindlessly went through Louis’ laundry, until it all came to a screeching halt. Harry originally had thought that the sock he had pulled out was just another one of Louis’ sport socks he left balled up, but when Harry pulled the cuff out, he realized the actual sole of the sock felt… crusty.
໑ 🔒 On The Pull by @homosociallyyours E, 4.2k, wankfest summary: When a radio host jokes that Harry and Louis should go on the pull together after Louis' "breakup" with Eleanor, Louis is quick to privately laugh it off as a ridiculous suggestion. So when Harry texts him and says he heard the interview and would be up for it, Louis is caught off guard. He says yes, but the night takes a few turns-- they might just end up on a different sort of pull than expected.

໑ READ LIKE A HEADLINE by The_Halcyonic_Lachesist / @chai-hat-tea NR, 6k, fitf fic fest summary: Louis Tomlinson, a singer-turned-actor is the source of tabloid gossip and his latest project is jeopardised when the media interferes again. Tired of life handing him the short end of the stick at every turn, he finds himself at a bar drowning in his sorrows. A kind stranger tries to cheer him up, but Louis soon realises that the stranger does so much more than that. Inspired by 'Headlines' from the album 'Faith in the Future' by 'Louis Tomlinson'.
໑ 🔒 See the Light by Stria / @nooradeservedbetter E, 6.2k, pwp summary: Luckily for him, Louis doesn’t seem to mind. “Tell you what, love,” he says. He gets the pen on the counter, scribbles some numbers on the back of his receipt. “Here’s my number, and we can talk more about the purposes of a leash.” He winks, and then saunters away, bag in hand. Harry looks at his arse the whole time. AKA the filthiest thing I've ever written.
໑ The Way to My Heart by @ladyaj-13 T, 6.5k, a/b/o fest summary: Louis' having a bit of a dry spell, until he bumps into an attractive alpha in the supermarket and leaves with his number. It was a hard bump. Very... muscular. The only problem is, said alpha asks Louis to cook for him - which is not exactly his skill set.
໑ Trying to Find the Words (To Say For Ages) by @insightfulinsomniac E, 6.8k, fitf fic fest summary: As best friends and roommates, it’s really not a big deal when their on-campus housing provides Harry and Louis with an unusual, intimate bathroom arrangement. They’re perfectly comfortable with one another and their own bodies. Except for the whole mutually pining thing. That might make it a little awkward.
໑ Rock My World by reader_chic_2  M, 14.2k, rock festival au summary: When Louis goes to his first rock festival and finds himself nearly dying left in right in the wild crowd, he owes his life to Harry Styles, the hot and angry security guard who never fails to save him.

Thankfully, his coworker Harry is the most supportive friend Louis could ask for. But Harry has some secrets of his own, and they send Louis' world spinning off its axis all over again. Based on the song "Holding On To Heartache" by Louis Tomlinson
໑ Until the Pearls Get Lost by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup M, 25.5k, big bang summary: London, 1933. Harry Styles, alpha, elusive bachelor and happy third wheel to his coupled friends, receives a visit from one Liam Payne, begging for his help. Liam’s childhood friend Louis is about to become the talk of the city; left at the altar because the mating bond was rejected, Louis will spend the rest of his life in an institution unless Liam can find someone to take him in and care for him as he recovers. Most omegas with failed bonds are never the same again. With rumours swirling around about the reason for the rejected bond, Harry gives in to Liam’s pleas. He hasn’t the slightest idea how that decision will shape the rest of his life.
໑ Bitter Ends Turn Sweet by @allwaswell16 E, 30k, fitf fic fest summary: It had been four years since Harry first heard the song his ex wrote about him and far longer since they broke up. He forgave Louis long ago, and now his life was focused on his career, his family, and especially his son, Max. But Louis was back in Chicago, after all this time, and he’s not an easy man to ignore. Or a songfic inspired by the song Chicago
໑ 🔒 hope your life leads you back to my door by wildestdreams / @thelavendrhaze E, 56.7k, yjhd au summary: Harry Styles set out to be a doctor; a steady career and a good living is all a young person could ask for. What he hadn't set out to do was to spend his summer holiday on a trekking trip in Spain with a group of people he barely knew. And he certainly didn’t plan on having his heart stolen by Louis Tomlinson, class clown and secret crush, in such a way that he feared he might never find it again. ft. cheesy chat-up lines, a big desi wedding, falling in love, and growing up. based on the bollywood film yeh jawaani hai deewani
໑ Where I Burn to Be by @pleasing-louis E, 143.3k, top gun au summary: There were very few people who managed to get under Louis’ skin as effortlessly as Harry had, and even fewer who had done it in only a day and a half. It was quite an accomplishment, really. They’d only interacted a handful of times and yet Louis had the insatiable desire to slam the locker into that frustratingly well-defined face that never seemed to hold any expressions other than contempt and arrogance. “That’s right. I do own the skies. And you wanna know why?” he sneered. Without his boots on, Louis was a fair bit shorter than Harry, his eyes pretty much level with Harry’s chin and his socked toes bumping into the boots of the other man, close enough that Louis could make out the tiny scar on Harry’s brow and the individual shades of emerald in his irises. He was handsome, but that only made Louis hate him more. Heart thumping heavily against his sternum and his hands balled into fists, Louis lifted his chin defiantly and plastered a coldhearted smirk across his lips. “Because I’m the best goddamn pilot here.” . . aka the Top Gun AU

໑ Pageant Material by @ladyaj-13 zayn/louis, G, 6.7, zouis fest summary: Louis flicks a nearby switch, lighting the bulbs around his mirror in a soft glow. The buttery yellow catches on the edges of his cheekbones, sharpening the dip. He looks more grown up this year. Some of his baby fat has melted away, and he sucks in his cheeks to see what he might look like by twenty five if this pattern continues. Then he crosses his eyes and sticks out his tongue. Or, the Zouis teen beauty pageant AU.

When the seemingly impossible happens and his regular actually asks him out on a date, Harry worries that he’ll screw it up because he’s just too into him. Bad Chem by Sabrina Carpenter: Obsessed since the start.
Sharpest Tool by Sabrina Carpenter: Love how she ends one line and starts the next with the last word—genius!

Us (ft. Taylor Swift) by Gracie Abrams: The bridge is everything.
How Did It End? by Taylor Swift: Will forever be a fave.
get him back! by Olivia Rodrigo: Love the vibe, love everything.

I know im late to post my first louis concert experience but i just really wanted to share this so here it is <3
The journey to the venue was pretty uneventful, when we got off the subway a man who worked there asked us if we’re going to the “Tomlinson concert” and gave us directions. On the bus we saw a bunch of really young fans, one of them was wearing a 0neDee shirt and i gave them a dirty look and idc if they were like 10 it felt good! Later on one of them asked if we want to be in their tiktok and wear heart shaped sunglasses… we rejected them so fast lol. So we got off the bus and walked till we saw the venue, screamed a bit, continued walking to the entrance, got past the security and then walked around without a purpose and got something to eat. In the meantime i worked on my sign. We made the mistake of not getting water afterwards and just made our way into the venue. When we got inside the venue tho the second opening act started playing. They were meh. And then we just sat there for a long time doing nothing but staring sadly at the giant poll that would block our view of louis on stage UNTIL the band appeared on the stage and THE CROWD WENT WILDDD the scream they let out made my ears RING AND THEN LOUIS WAS THERE AND HE STARTED SINGING THE GREATEST AND my life felt complete!! My heart was beating so fast and i felt lightheaded i just!!! Couldn’t believe my eyes!! I started screaming the lyrics right away. He was captivating, ethereal, powerful and OWNED the stage!!
So!! I do not remember the order of the songs but everything was amazing, he started off strong and kept it up. He did sound a bit off a few times but im guessing it has to do with the fact that he was tired bc of the previous shows. Anyways!! He literally KILLED KMM I did not want that song to end I couldn’t get enough!! He sounded SOOO good during Bigger Than Me! He hit those notes and you could tell that it’s a song that needs to be played live. Holding On To Heartache was such a moment my god he ate that UP!! That was one of the highlights for me i was really really impressed with how he sounded, he put his soul into that song and it showed! Shed a few tears as well cuz that song just hit different yk.. he did sing two 0neD songs which.. I didn’t sing along to because I genuinely didn’t know the lyrics and wasn’t going to try and remember 😭 so those were kind of the moment i let myself have a break from screaming and jumping. During WAOYF u could just tell the energy in the venue shifted. People were LOUD. As loud as the other one d songs LIKE HE KNOWS WHAT HE DID TO ALL OF US WITH THAT TRACK HE JUST KNOWS. Hearing WMI for the first time was such an experience!! The best way to describe it was nostalgic and just really sweet idk i loved it. Ok. I know I’ve heard copy like a thousand times now but… you guys the recorded version is NOTHING compared to the live version. I could feel myself ascending into heaven with every word it was just beyond words. One of my favourite moments or perhaps THE favourite part of the show for me. WALLS WAS ALSO NOSTALGIC AND I GOT TO SCREAM “you were my because” at louis with my whole heart!!!! That was so so so special definitely one of the moments i will never forget. Lucky Again was literally perfect he again hit the notes and it was perfection. The song that surprised me the most when heard live was probably Angels Fly because he just did it sooo well and had full control over the song it was just such a nice tune to hear live also one of my favourites! .Face The Music is one of the songs that sounds amazing live!! And 505… someone else did inform me that he will cover it but nothing and i mean NOTHING could have prepared me for what i heard that day. I was ON MY KNEES READY TO PLEASE HE was just so hot!!! So effortlessly hot and sexy it was almost too much for my heart. I caught myself shouting “with your hands between MY thighs” … not my proudest moment 😵‍💫 the most shocking moment was back to you ofc. i was losing my marbles when it started playing i was head empty no thoughts except for “what the fuck is happening is this a new track????” And louis starts singing and i am STILL TOO OUT OF IT TO UNDERSTAND THAT ITS BACK TO YOU so my friend had to tell me what song it is and then i was having the best time of my life. I don’t know how he managed to alter it into a rock version so perfectly but it’s not a surprise, anything that louis is involved in is absolute perfection. Out Of My System my beloved!! Could not get enough of it one of my faves. All This Time was another moment that made me emotional because it showed how louis loved performing that songs and put his heart into it. Silver Tongues was also one of my favs and i really REALLY wanted to be closer to the stage at that moment to see his chaotic ass in action 😭. They gave away free monsters when we left and a group of embarrassing people were doing a * karaoke but that’s irrelevant. Overall it was a perfect night and !! i got to meet @berlinini and @bbrox 🫶🏼

HEAVY MUSIC HISTORY: '5 Seconds Of Summer' by 5 Seconds Of Summer
Distorted Sound, 27 June 2024
Tumblr media
'5 SECONDS OF SUMMER split the rock world in half ten years ago when they appeared on the cover of Rock Sound Magazine. Some hardcore rock fans dismissed them as a boyband best known as the support act of ONE DIRECTION, who were arguably the biggest boyband of the early 2010s, and for creating a song about American Apparel underwear that you couldn’t escape from every time you turned on the radio or were at the supermarket. But Rock Sound believed that the quartet from Sydney, Australia could turn dutiful teenage pop fans into curious listeners of rock music. Did 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER even classify as rock?
The answer is yes – to a certain extent. Formed in the Sydney suburbs, lead singer/guitarist Luke Hemmings, guitarist Michael Clifford, and bassist Calum Hood gained a substantial following on YouTube posting cover songs. Drummer Ashton Irwin joined the band after Clifford messaged him on Facebook as the band were going to play their first show and 200 people were going to be there. The reality was that the band ended up playing their first show at the Annadale Hotel – a pub in Sydney – on December 3, 2011 to only twelve people. But since that day, they’ve maintained the same line-up, working hard and growing an audience online and in person after extensive touring. After getting noticed by Louis Tomlinson from ONE DIRECTION in 2012, 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER were propelled to dizzying heights of fame after supporting ONE DIRECTION on their Take Me Home tour in 2013, and again in 2014 on the boyband’s Where We Are stadium tour.
youtube
Whilst 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER‘s breakout hit, She Looks So Perfect, might’ve been bubblegum pop, it’s also very guitar-driven, opening with a guitar note before leading into the catchiest ‘Heys’ ever put to music. Throughout their self-titled debut  album, there are elements of rock mixed in with sugary sweet pop, whether it is the paint-by-numbers pop-rock of Don’t Stop, or the guitar-driven Good Girls.
5 SECONDS OF SUMMER might not have been reinventing pop-rock by any means, but then again, the band were only three years into their career, having formed in late 2011, and three-quarters of the band were still in their teens at the time of this album’s release. Yet, there is also an undeniable charm about this album, with lyrics about wanting to escape town with a romantic partner (Kiss Me, Kiss Me), crushing on someone older (18), or wishing that you could commit to a relationship after a break-up (Everything I Didn’t Say). Admittedly, this is where the album falters sonically as the production is less inspiring and leans more into pop.
However, everything changes when Beside You comes on. This is a song that has been in 5 SEONDS OF SUMMER‘s discography since their debut 2012 EP Somewhere New. This re-recorded version breathes new life into the song, and it’s become a staple of their live shows and a fan-favourite. End Up Here is a fast-paced pop-rock song that namechecks both KURT COBAIN and Livin’ On A Prayer by BON JOVI. Whilst Long Way Home and Heartbreak Girl are mostly forgettable, the cheeky English Love Affair brings the album back up to speed. The standard edition ends with Amnesia, an acoustic break-up song that is easily one of the best written by the band.
Interestingly enough, the band’s more rockier sound is heard on the extended edition of the album. Social Casualty is a drum-heavy rock song that talks about leaving town to escape the past, Never Be is a mid-tempo song in the same vein as Beside You. Whilst Voodoo Doll is so overproduced that it threatens to burst your eardrums, the acoustic version of Don’t Stop is a good antidote. There is also a good foundation throughout this album that is further extended upon in their second album Sounds Good Feels Good (2015).
Critically, 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER‘s self-titled earned favourable reviews, with The Guardian calling the album ‘lyrical mischief’ and rating it 3/5, whereas AllMusic gave it 3.5/5 and said that the album is 'packed with immediately hummable melodies that anyone over 30 will probably feel slightly guilty for remembering'. The album sold 259,000, and hit Number One in fourteen countries, including America and Australia. It reached Number Two in the UK.
Overall, ten years on, it’s interesting to listen back to this album. Whilst the band only played four songs from the album on their most recent tour The 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER Show, and their third album Youngblood (2018) and fourth album Calm (2020) saw them swap their pop-rock sound for synth-pop, their fifth album 5SOS5 (2022) saw them return back to their roots in a mature way. Lyrically, their self-titled album is more risqué than anything that ONE DIRECTION ever released. Sonically, the album mostly works well thanks to the brilliant production by John Feldmann, although some of the songs do sound too clean cut and sometimes leans more into pop than rock. But this is an album that shows that 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER could break out of the shadow of the biggest boyband and shine on their own. They might’ve never reached the heights of fame ONE DIRECTION did, but this album did show a generation of teenage fans that there is more music out there than what’s on the radio.
'5 Seconds Of Summer' was originally released on June 27, 2014 via Capitol Records.' X

Hi India!
I wanted to pop by and say hi! You're very cool and I find myself hardly ever disagreeing with you, but when I do, I walk away with having read a differing but interesting perspective on several topics. It also helps that you're super duper eloquent and articulate, and there have been several instances where I have a thought and no way to put it into words and find that you have done that very effectively. You're also SO KIND??? I can't.
You're a gem, a badass and most importantly (to me, at least) one of my favourite authors of all time. I love you! I hope you have the best day/night ahead!
I genuinely don’t know what sort of magic you have in your heart that you knew I needed something like this today, but thank you. 🩵
I’ll let you in on a little secret: I’m rarely (if ever) called cool. I guess in a traditional sense, I’m not (I’m super basic, and I’ve learned to embrace it) but I’ve always wanted to be. It’s a trait that’s always felt elusive to me; I just have never “had” it (although many people in my life do, in spades) and I’ve always wondered what it would take to get there.
It’s funny, because when Harry’s House first came out, a lot of people dissed the lyrics of Cinema, saying it was juvenile; meanwhile I was sitting here thinking it perfectly captured Louis Tomlinson because I totally know what it feels like to get all sparkled out by someone, and to look at them and think “Fuck, they’re so cool.”
So thank you for what I will now refer to as my Cinema moment. 🥰 and, I’m really glad hearing my opinions feel beneficial in some way, whether it’s because they voice some thoughts you have or because they give you a different perspective. What I like most about tumblr is that the format encourages that level of exchange if you pick and choose what conversations to have and how to have them. Sure, it doesn’t spare you from people determined to misunderstand you, but messages like these make me feel like I’m at least not screaming into the void.
As for every other compliment you peppered in there, dude. My heart is glowing. Seriously, thank you. I’m not always kind, but I try to be, and I feel like I’ve been made infinitely kinder by Larry and by being a larrie.
Forgive the 100k word count thank you, I just really really really needed this today. 😘✨

Niall Horan is more than Mr Nice Guy
Three years after his last release, the 29-year-old singer has jumped feet first into the spotlight to promote third album The Show, which lands on 9th June.
“I’m more excited than I thought I would be,” Horan says of his return, a quiet confidence lingering. With outstretched legs, the double-denim-clad singer lounges in his chair, decanting still water from a glass bottle, as we settle in for our chat in his luxury London hotel suite. A high-pitched giggle ripples through him when two builders, dawdling on a pulley lift, nab his attention through the window, before he apologises for losing eye contact. “I’m revved up, but I’m nervous. I hope I didn’t waste 18 months writing something for people not to like it.”
Those 18 months in question were spent, in part, during the coronavirus lockdown, which acts as inspiration for many of the introspective lyrics on The Show. It was the first time in a decade that the singer had, well, nothing in his schedule, allowing time to contemplate his meteoric rise to fame. “There’s no heartbreak stuff [on this album], so there needed to be a new concept. The only good part of the pandemic for me was that I was actually happy being still. I had time to breathe; I realised it doesn’t have to be a thousand miles an hour all the time.”
For the uninitiated, the first six years of Horan’s career were spent in the extraordinarily successful band, One Direction. Originally from Mullingar, Ireland, Horan auditioned for X Factor as a solo artist in 2010, later forming a five-piece alongside Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik. What followed was unparalleled success, multiple award wins and huge stadium gigs. “I loved touring, but it was fucking crazy,” Horan muses now. “We’d go to countries and never see a second of it - it was hotel, venue, plane, same again. We couldn’t get out the [hotel] door. If you went out in the car, you’d be seen and chased [by fans]. I understand why it was going on, but it gave me a thing where, when I came back to London, I would be afraid to go out. There was a period where I actually couldn’t.”
1D announced their hiatus in 2016, and Horan released his first solo album, Flicker, the following year. His second, Heartbreak Weather, came in 2020. Three years later in February, he dropped The Show’s sparkling lead single, ‘Heaven’, taking to social media to celebrate.
“I was lying in bed when management texted to say the song was out, so I checked Twitter. The numbers were fucking nuts. I was up for hours seeing what people were saying.” Horan generally views social platforms as a tool for fun, and mainly use them to engage with followers. “Sometimes I type my name in to see tweets I’m not tagged in. If I see the fans talking about me without tagging me, I’ll reply. [My TikTok ‘For You Page’] is full of people doing dances to my songs, golf, and mid-century modern furniture. I like winding people that don’t like me up. I get such a laugh. I also try to reply to people who ask genuine questions about the music, or what I’m up to.”
With 14 years in the public eye under his belt, Horan has also seen a darker side of the internet. “I’ve [read that I’ve] been in car crashes that I wasn’t in. I’ve been in three or four fake ‘PR stunted’ relationships. What’s the old phrase? It’s tomorrow’s chip paper. I care about what the fans think, but there’s always going to be people… who would never say a thing like that to your face, because they’re cowards.”
As our time together rolls on (me looking at Horan, Horan looking at the procrastinating builders), his genuine charm reverberates around the giant hotel room. A chatty openness takes the conversation from his favourite true crime documentary (The Jinx) to tips for long haul flights (green noise) and best skincare advice (facial steaming). It’s this endearing, positive aura that makes his Nice Guy Reputation™ legitimately easy to believe. But what’s his secret?
“Don’t be a prick?” Horan jokes. “There’s no secret to that. Just don’t be one. My Irishness? My humble upbringing? This is like some kind of questionnaire. A combination of a few things. Carefree attitude?”
Horan laughs off the suggestion that he’s going to dinner parties with groups of celebrities, instead insisting he has “two really good [industry] friends, and a tight circle of old mates. People have this idea that all famous people are friends. But you’re not friends with everyone in your office, are you? I remember seeing Channing Tatum on a plane. I’d never met the guy in real life, but he waved. We were laughing later. He was like, ‘I felt like I had to do the token ‘celebrity to celebrity’ kind of moment.’”
One person Horan has connected with on a deeper level is Lewis Capaldi. “He’s just a diamond geezer,” Horan says, before sharing a better-than-average imitation of a Scottish accent. “There’s not a bad bone in his body. He’s a solid friend, and he also happens to be one of the funniest fuckers you’ve ever met in your life. We’re in a lot of WhatsApp groups together.” Horan also reached out to fellow Irishman Paul Mescal, when Normal People came out. “He’s a nice fella. When he first moved to London, I talked to him a bit. But then the pandemic happened, and we never spoke again.”
The singer briefly touches on his relationship with Amelia Woolley, who he’s been with since 2020. On whether he has a romantic side, Horan says, “I think so. I wouldn't say I’m like ‘rose petals on the floor’ type of romantic, but I'm good at caring. I'm good at making dinners and the day-to-day stuff." On love languages, he adds, "I’m good at words of affirmation and I’m good at touch.”
Album release aside, 2023 also marks Horan’s 30th birthday, with the singer entering his third decade in September. “I’m excited for it - I’ve heard your 30s are the best time of your life,” Horan says, enthused. “I’ve never been one of those people to overthink timelines. I hope I don’t age too much! On plans for the next decade, he's thoughtful for a moment. “I’d like to still be doing this, going around the world, still playing to thousands of people. I’d like to win a Grammy. I’d like to be happy. And to still have decent skin.”
Better keep at the steaming, then.

🎶✨when u get this, list 5 songs u like to listen to, and publish. then, send this ask to 10 of your favourite followers (positivity is cool)🎶✨
Uuh, I love talking about music!! On some days I only run on my favorite songs blasting through my headphones and a cup of tea.
And also, I feel flattered getting this ask. Thank you for this ♡
My most favorite singer is Louis Tomlinson. So I have to put his songs first. "Always You", "Defenceless", "All This Time", "Fearless", "Bigger Than Me" and basically every song he ever wrote. His lyrics are just... I don’t even know how to describe it. On another level. It's like he *understands*. If you haven't listened to him yet, please do. And please tell me your thoughts!
I can’t even choose five songs only, because there are like all of Only The Poets' songs that I absolutely adore [especially "Every Song I Ever Wrote", "Nana's House", "Stolen Bikes", "I Don't Wanna Be Your Friend" "One More Night"] and also almost every One Direction song as well, specifically the ones on the last album like "Perfect", "Drag Me Down" and "Infinity" but also "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" and omg, "No Control".
If I could only listen to these songs for the rest of my life I'd be perfectly happy tbh.
But there are also like, some songs that don’t fit in any category. Like, I have a only one song from a specific artist in my playlist and that’s it. No other song from them feels anything like the one I have dedicated my life to - or more like, car rides and daydreaming. You get the idea. Like "The London Air Raids" by Vian Izak, "The Enemy" by Andrew Belle, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers, "SNAP" by Rosa Linn, "I Am Free" by Tones And I, "Still Dressed For Winter" by Now Ex or "ALTERNATIVE" by RØRY.
Well...
Did that ask turn into a rant about how I definitely can’t choose just five songs and have somehow dedicated my life to music? Maybe.
But here you go ;)
(a little more than) 5 songs I like to listen to.

omg hi i haven’t talked to you in so long 😵 but I’ve been having a mauraders brainrot recently and i HAVE to ask about what your opinions are on like tattoos each of them have like from the mauraders era
laz!! hiiii!! how’ve you been?
okay so you made the brain rot brainrot hard
i haven’t done every character but here’s some with some help with/confirmation on sybil from @stonedregulus
james - deer antlers on his v line, harry’s dob, something that signifies the other marauders - could be the footsteps of the map idk but they’re close and i think it’s matching, regulus’ quidditch jersey number or flowers for lily.
sirius - i feel like he’d be like louis tomlinson with a bunch of little random ones, he’d have his star’s constellation tattooed and add a moon in the centre when moony finally says yes to marrying him, remus’ favourite book quote above his heart because that’s where his moony will always be. he also got a matching tattoo with regulus after he left to prove to him that he’d never forget his little brother and so that regulus knows he’s always got a piece of sirius with him. the matching marauders tattoo too.
remus - a stick man holding a walking stick (one of the cane ones) like it’s a weapon rather than an aid, matching marauders tattoo, sirius’ favourite song lyric above his heart, book quotes, a skating stickman with a joint.
peter - matching marauders one, goose with a knife in its beak, barbed wire heart on his chest, a chrysanthemum on his ribs
lily - music notes, harry’s dob, a tiny stag head, a cello, broken rope, lyrics, she doodles more on herself than has actual tattoos.
evan - rose on his rib cage, a wonky smiley face on his right forearm just below the crease of his elbow that he did when he was bored, a pair of dice on his other rib, a running out hour glass timer above his heart - because he feels like he’s on borrowed time, a tarot set that pandora and sybil did together and a bunch that he lets barty and reg do when they’re high, matching snake tattoo with reg and barty - his is on his thigh and is wearing a top hat.
barty - snake tattoo on his wrist but his has a bow tie, playing cards, runes, that one :): smile that was popular years ago, a decaying pill bottle, an open book that was stabbed by a dagger and is bleeding, a dagger, an anchor .
reg - matching tattoo with sirius, he loves the ocean because it reminds him of freedom and was fixated on learning of all of the different sea deities and finally got poseidon’s trident on his wrist, james’ quidditch jersey number, snake tattoo on his ribs wrapped around a blade.
pandora - matching tarot cards with evan and sybil, either luna’s name or something to signify her, a book surrounded by potions and smoke, the circle one that’s half sun/half moon, runes.
sybil - a crystal ball, matching tarot cards with evan and pandora, a fox face with sun rays surrounding it, a moonbeam tattoo on her forearm, the moon cycle on her spine, her favourite runes and crystals.
snape - imagine a celebrity au - he met tom riddle once and got his signature tattooed and then he got cancelled and oops 😅

Thought about it, yes. Ever felt the desire or need to? No, never. Quite the opposite. I've read all the lyrics, seen every music video and performance with sound off. Everything about Harry's solo career reminds me of everything i don't like about this world; capitalism, power abuse, greed, closeting, unfairness, lies, gaslighting and heteronormativity. It's very off putting to me and everything in me just says "nope, nope, nope".
But you say that Harry was forced by Sony to go solo and would have preferred to stay in 1d with his boyfriend, so why punish him for something he can't do anything about?
Plus, 1d who you loved was even more of a capitalist endeavour than solo Harry. They put their names to every piece of cheap product out there like biscuits, toothpaste, Easter eggs. The first two albums were empty bubblegum pop designed to sell as much as possible, with zero artistic merit.
I've read all the lyrics, seen every music video and performance with sound off. ///
Why do you bother with this if you dislike his solo career and can't stand the sight of him? You're just giving him clicks and views.
I'm actually similar to you but with Louis because I'm gay and he presents an image of toxic masculinity and low key homophobia. I won't listen to his music at all and since 2019 I haven't watched his videos or performances either.
The fact that you never listened to harry’s music makes me laugh 🤣🤣🤣 you’re not the only one. I know other harries/larries who do the same because they like him but hate his solo career/image.
Hi, anons!
Oh, we're back to this again. I distinguish between Harry the person and Harry the brand. I love and support Harry the person and want him do well, but i don't support the image and brand.
I love Harry as a person, and i want to see him do well! I think he's a good artist and entertainer and he deserves the fame and recognition he's getting. It's just the way Sony is selling him and shitting on the other 1D members that's not sitting right with me. During 1D the favouritism wasn't that prominent, they were equals, and we got fan service in exchange for our money. Harry Styles tm is a corporation.
I believe supporting Harry Styles tm is counterproductive. It just pepetuates the same old practices and mistreatment. It also shows that's lying and faking it, and closeting artists is beneficial. It's not going to ever stop if fans don’t stop supporting it.
I personally can't support Harry the brand and Sony, but i don't mind others who do. I understand it's a difficult choice to make. We all have to find ways to stay fans of these boys, because we're all fans of them despite their images and how they're portrayed. I'm not a solo harry stan, but i'm a larrie and that shouldn't be that hard to understand tbh. Also, i don't give H clicks and views by watching fan livestreams and twitter/tumblr videos.
Also, second anon, I've never said i can't stand the sight of Harry? I love Harry, i'm a larrie, and i can't wait until he can come out and be himself and stop lying, gaslighting and pretending he's someone he's not. He's going to be so powerful and wonderful when he does. I'm going to be so proud to be his fan when he does.
I completely agree with your reasons for not supporting Louis Tomlinson tm. I don't give him streams, i don't go to his tour, but i do listen to his music. None of these boys is getting any money from me for perpetuing these fake images.
Last anon, i don't think you need to be a solo harry or a solo louie to be a larrie. I don't think Louis or Harry is lying awake at night because i refuse to listen to their stunt songs, support a career based on lying to fans and dragging babies into it, not buying the products they're selling and calling them out for their bullshit. I'm here to support them as people, because they're good people, support their relationship, and their fight to be themselves without the fakeness.

Oof one of my favourite songs I spent ages picking out only one lyric
"When you gonna realize we don't get another life?
Always over analyze, what's the point?
I know it'll be alright
We've still got the rest of our lives"
- Change, Louis Tomlinson

hiii april!! here is a random ask bc im bored, who's your favourite singer (ik it can be sometimes hard to decide so you can choose a few or tell me your favourite atm) ily <33
feel free to ignore this xx
hiiii lucy my love!! i have so many ngl KAHSKS but rn i think louis tomlinson is my number one. i'm gonna see him live in four months and i have been streaming his music nonstop— i also just really love so many of his lyrics and i relate so hard to so many of his songs. saturdays, holding on to heartache, chicago angels fly, don't let it break your heart, defenseless and only the brave are some of my favorites and im literally obsessed.
i also love renee rapp, taylor, gracie and maisie!!! they're so!!!!
oh oh and i love 5sos but also specifically luke hemmings and his solo stuff. the things we turn away from is such an amazing album and i might not to listen to it a lot but every now and then i go back to it and i just am in awe. like, it's soooo good and it deserves so much more hype amd recognition than it got. tbh i think it's one of the best albums i've ever listened to and i'm hoping since the band is taking some time i think(? (bc one of the members just had a daughter) he'll release some solo stuff. i also love that he can do that and still be in the band and that it doesn't mean they have to break up?? like they're so close and they let each other explore and stuff. that just makes me so happy and warms my heart.
anyway now im rambling so i'll shut up kahsjs ily what's your favorite???

what difference can one song make?
tell me about one song that had a huge impact on your life (changed you fundamentally as a person, lead to something magical, saved your life in some way, basically just made a difference).
it doesn't have to be your favourite song, just the one that is & always will be so special to you for some reason!
shit this is hard. um.
so any directioners/louies who follow me would know that in sept. 2022 we received one of the most revealing songs of louis' solo career, that being Saved By A Stranger.
i don't even know why this song. i think part of it is how important it is to louis? it came out when i was in a really dark place, too. and the lyrics are so brilliant and so truthful - as someone who generally considers themself to literally owe their life to certain music and the musicians who made it, it felt very personal.
for example, some lyrics that really hit with me;
"And I wish that I could tell her That she changed me for the better"
those two lines especially really resonated with me, because there is so much that i owe to louis tomlinson, noah kahan, we three, taylor swift, and olivia rodrigo and their respective music, that i wish they knew.
beyond this song, some others that have made a huge difference to me and my life:
Don't Let It Break Your Heart, Louis Tomlinson
Perfect Now, Louis Tomlinson
hope ur ok, Olivia Rodrigo
the grudge, Olivia Rodrigo
Call Your Mom, Noah Kahan
Orange Juice, Noah Kahan
this is me trying, Taylor Swift
Sara, We Three
Body Fat Percentage, We Three
7 Years, Lukas Graham
Mama Said, Lukas Graham
Stitches, Shawn Mendes
Wonder, Shawn Mendes
When I Grow Up, Matilda The Musical
this is way more than anon asked for but. it is what it is. music has always been really special to me (see: listening to stitches by shawn mendes ten billion times as a kid, making up dances to reece mastin's good night, and obsessing over lukas graham for several years) but i've noticed that in the last three years - especially 2022, which i generally consider the worst year of my life - i've found/returned to artists that are so fundamental to who i am and who i want to be, and that have supported me in some of the hardest times that i've faced.
so yeah. lifes not perfect. but without music i probably wouldn't be here at all, so.
