Who's that knockin' on my door?
What ya tryin' to bother me for?
Don't want none of what you're sellin'
I know that you're rotten to the core
So my 44 mags, about to put one in your melon
Last night one of my neighbors
Got held up for the paper
But the popos never came
They won't do you any favors
Say your prayers
So many layers
Some things will never change
Ha ha ha
This afternoon got caught up at a red light
In the line of sight
Of these motherfuckers from the other night
Seems like the right time
Pullin' out his life line
Anytime you threaten mine
Gonna be a fight, you see
See I'm numb just lookin'
For a reason for my finger
To be squeezin' on the trigger
Do another killin' season
One gun, two gun, three guns, four
So many guns keep on runnin' out the store
Pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop, ha ha ha ha
Pop, pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop, ha ha ha
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Ha ha ha
Feelin' my soul leave my body
La dee da dee
Somebody got me
I don't even know his name
Started fightin' at a party
No karate
Hammers droppin'
But the popos never came
Lightheaded and I'm dizzy
My vision fuzzy
I get the feelin'
It's the end of the game
I'm on the television, talk of me, ask who was he
'Cause they don't love me
That's when the fuckin' popos came
Pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop, ha ha ha ha
Pop, pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop, ha ha ha
Yeah, pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop goes the weapon
You better keep on steppin'
Pop, pop goes the weapon
Pop, pop, ha ha ha
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?
Who's that knockin' on my door?

Cypress Hill Turns 1996 Simpsons Joke into Reality
Typically accustomed to performing pieces by Rachmaninov and Brahms, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will showcase their expertise on Wednesday night by playing Cypress Hill’s "Insane in the Brain." The orchestra is bringing a 1996 Simpsons joke to life by performing the US hip-hop trio Cypress Hill’s acclaimed "Black Sunday" album at the Royal Albert Hall. The evening is inspired by a joke from a Simpsons episode where Cypress Hill speculated they had mistakenly booked the LSO “possibly while high.” After years of fan pressure, the group has arranged a one-night performance in London, where the LSO will perform their most famous songs, including "Insane in the Brain" and "I Wanna Get High." As pioneers of the West Coast hip-hop scene in the 1990s, Cypress Hill has sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Their hit "Black Sunday" album sold more than 3 million copies in the US and spent a year on the UK charts. B-Real (Louis Mario Freese) told the BBC, “It’s been something we’ve talked about for many years since the Simpsons episode first aired. So it’s very special for us. And it’s coming off the heels of our 30th anniversary for our 'Black Sunday' album. “We’ve played a lot of historical venues throughout our career, but nothing as prestigious as this.” B-Real noted that Cypress Hill has always embraced experimental collaborations as "out-of-the-box artists," mixing hip-hop with rock, metal, punk, reggae, and electronic music. He added, "We salute the Simpsons because if they had not written that episode, we probably wouldn’t be doing this." In the Simpsons episode "Homerpalooza," Homer tries to impress Bart and Lisa by attending the Hullabalooza music festival, a parody of the Lollapalooza festival, and mingling with 1990s rap and rock stars, including Cypress Hill and The Smashing Pumpkins. In the episode, a crew member says, “somebody ordered,” then adds, “possibly while high … Cypress Hill, I’m looking in your direction.” This is followed by a rendition of "Insane in the Brain" with orchestral backing. Cypress Hill has invited UK musician Peter Frampton, who appears in the episode as the person trying to book the orchestra, but they are still awaiting his response. LSO first violinist and board vice-chair Maxine Kwok told the BBC that it is an important cultural reference and that "people are beyond excited at the idea of these diverse musicians mixing on the stage." She added, "Being a child of the 90s I remember the episode well." Rehearsals have revealed cultural differences, such as the LSO interpreting the word "glock" to mean the percussion instrument glockenspiel, rather than a gun. The Simpsons has previously predicted future events, including Trump's presidency, a tiger attack on Las Vegas magicians Siegfried and Roy, and the US beating Sweden to win its first Winter Olympic curling gold. We Legalized It 2024: Cypress Hill, The Pharcyde, & Souls of Mischief Live at Tabernacle
On January 16th, 2024, the legendary Cypress Hill announced one of the hottest tours in 2024, We Legalized It 2024 featuring Cypress Hill w/ California hip hop legends The Pharcyde & Souls of Mischief. It has been a goal of mine to photograph not only Souls of Mischief but also Cypress Hill, so this tour with The Pharcyde was icing on the cake for my hopes and dreams. I have seen Cypress Hill a few times over the years, but I knew this tour would be something special bringing out fellow West Coast vets The Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief.
Cypress Hill is a West Coast hip-hop/rap rock/hardcore hip-hop/gangsta rap/psychedelic rap group from South Gate, CA. that formed in 1988. Cypress Hill consists of Louis “B-Real” Freese (vocals), Senen “Sen Dog” Reyes (vocals), Eric “Eric Bobo” Correa (drums/percussion), Lawerence “DJ Muggs” Muggerud (turntables/samples) and while on tour Lord “DJ Lord” Asword (turntables/samples/vocals). It is worth noting that B-Real, Sen Dog, and DJ Muggs are founding members of Cypress Hill. They have released ten (10) LPs and have been nominated for numerous awards including the Grammy’s.
Souls of Mischief is a groundbreaking alternative hip-hop/West Coast hip-hop group from East Oakland, CA. forming in 1991. Souls of Mischief features A-Plus, Phesto, Opio, and Tajai (also most noted as members of the hip-hop supergroup Hieroglyphics). Souls of Mischief has released six (6) LPs and fourteen (14) Singles. They have released six (6) LPs (including the debut album 93’ Til Infinity) and various singles over their historic career. When I first heard their debut album in 1993, I was overcome by so many feelings and emotions after listening to this record. Each member’s lyrical techniques, the unique production of each track, the blissful feeling after listening to this album, and the positive message this group personifies make Souls of Mischief one of my all-time favorite hip-hop groups.
Last year, I was fortunate to catch Souls of Mischief on their 30th Anniversary ’93 Til Infinity tour at City Winery in Atlanta, GA. So, I had a feeling how energetic and addictive their live show would be. I was over the moon when Souls of Mischief started the night with “You Never Knew” a Hieroglyphics track. Since I have not seen Hieroglyphics perform yet, this was special for me, and I am sure more people in the crowd have been fans of Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics. Getting to hear Souls of Mischief play some of their hits off their debut album; “Let ‘em Know”, “Live and Let Live”, “’93 Til Infinity”, and “Never No More” was very satisfying after a long day before this concert. I appreciated seeing people of all ages in the crowd singing along to the Souls of Mischief set. It proved that no matter the era, if the music is good people will love it regardless of when it was released.
Check out Souls of Mischief’s Official website to see all their announced dates in 2024!
The Pharcyde is a progressive rap/alternative hip-hop group that formed in 1983 in South Central Los Angeles, CA. The Pharcyde has released four (4) LPs, one (1) EP, three (3) Compilations, eleven (11) Singles, and six (6) music videos. The Pharcyde’s first four albums are all incredible in the hip-hop genre, most notably their first two (2) releases: Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde and Labcabincalifornia. The original members of The Pharcyde included Imani (Emandu Wilcox), Slimkid3 (Trevant Hardson), Fatlip (Derrick Stewart), and Bootie Brown (Romye Robinson). The Pharcyde is currently touring with three original members: Imani, Slimkid3, and Fatlip.
My first time watching The Pharcyde perform was a rather eclectic tour in 1996 at the long-forgotten venue International Ballroom in Atlanta, GA. This was the Life is Peachy Tour headlined by Korn which had none other than The Pharcyde as one of the openers. So, it has been quite a while since I had the chance to see The Pharcyde do their thing on stage. The crowd in attendance was treated to some of The Pharcyde’s best tracks: “Ya Mama”, “Passin’ Me By”, “Runnin”, and “Oh Shit” to name a few. You could see The Pharcyde having way too much fun on stage, and I know they enjoyed the crowd’s eager participation throughout their electrifying set. I hope that The Pharcyde can continue this bizarre ride they have created over the years and keep rocking crowds in the future.
Check out The Pharcyde’s Official YouTube Channel so you can listen to some of their music today!
Cypress Hill has performed phenomenally every time I have seen them play live. At last year’s Shaky Knees (2023) performance, Cypress Hill performed their second album, Black Sunday, in its entirety to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that album. Once DJ Lord warmed up the crowd, Cypress Hill started the night off with a classic track off Black Sunday, “Cock the Hammer”, and the crowd went wild rapping along to B-Real and Sen Dog. Since the start of Souls of Mischief’s set, the crowd kept ahold of the same intense vibe throughout each set. As Cypress Hill blazed through track after track from their 36-year career, I was elated to hear a good number of tracks from their self-titled debut album Cypress Hill and Black Sunday. To end the set, Cypress Hill had the help of some special friends including DJ Hurricane, Prince Paul, The Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, and members of the Dungeon Family to perform a snippet of House of Pain’s “Jump Around”.
Check out Cypress Hill’s career-spanning setlist from Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA. below:

"Breaking News: Redemption at Last for the Texas Rangers - Escaping a Long-standing Nightmare!"
Houston: The heartbreak of the 2011 World Series still haunts the Texas Rangers twelve years after one of the most devastating losses in baseball history. In Game 6, the Rangers were just one strike away from securing a championship over the St. Louis Cardinals, not once, but twice. However, on both occasions, they faltered, leading to David Freese’s iconic walk-off home run that shattered the…
