I hope you like this: Lou adopts Danny's or one of her workers' baby and she shows up with him to visit Debbie in prison. Debbie is shocked and has all her walls up but over the years the 3 bond during the visits. When she's out, the fight over Claude is a bit more tense. Lou's afraid Debbie will get bored and go away while Debbie thinks she's not good enough for them. Until one day Deb and the boy surprise Lou with a proposal and then they surprise Debbie with him agreeing to be adopted by Deb
(Slight variation of this that I hope you still enjoy🙈 needed to take some artistic license)
“Lou,” Tammy breathed, bursting through the door of the loft. “I came as soon as I saw your text. Are you okay? Please tell me you didn’t do anything crazy. I haven’t heard from you since the news about Danny and well—“
“Well, I can’t say it’s not crazy,” Lou grinned, looking somewhat nervous but excited. “But it’s not scotch related. Well, he was the result of a night of booze,” the blonde snorted.
“You didn’t,” Tammy whisper-hissed, closing the door behind her. “You slept with someone? Drunk? You just said—“
“I did not sleep with someone,” Lou rolled her eyes. “And I didn’t lie. I wasn’t drinking. And please. Like I’d ever stoop as low as to sleep with a man. I thought you knew me. No, I—I picked someone up today,” she smiled, walking towards the living room where a crib came into view.
“Lou…” Tammy spoke slowly. “Is that…”
“This is Charlie,” Lou smiled, waving the little boy’s tiny hand at Tammy. “Danny’s son. Well, I guess he’s my son now.”
“I think I need to sit down.”
“It’s a lot, I know,” Lou nodded, cradling the boy against her chest as he coped, a finger tugging at her fringe. “But it’s kind of perfect, Tam. I mean, not perfect. Losing Danny was…I don’t have the words for it. I don’t think any of us ever will. But well, I saw Tess last week. And she’s been in a lot of pain. And she knows I’ve been in a lot of pain. I guess I’m the only other person she knows who’s sort of also lost an Ocean.”
“Your Ocean is coming back,” Tammy reminded her, still not able to look away from the baby, or how natural Charlie looked in Lou’s arms as she rocked him side to side.
“From jail, yeah,” Lou agreed. “But we don’t know she’s coming back to me. As much as I want that and crave that, and still love her as much as I did I—“
“I won’t push,” Tammy whispered, smiling sadly. “I know. It’s not a decision that falls solely on you. And I know there’s a lot left unsaid. And some unfinished—“
“Skulls to crush?” Lou provided, still bouncing Charlie. “Actually, just the one will do. I can’t wait to get ahold of Becker and just—“
“Maybe not so much with the violence while you’re holding a baby, right?” Tammy winced. “I mean now that you’re a—wait. What are you? Are you babysitting? Are you taking on Deb’s responsibilities as aunt? Shit. You said you did something crazy. Fuck. Lou. You said he’s your son? Oh my god. When the hell did you and Danny—”
Lou shot a death glare at the other woman above the boys head before she physically shuddered, closing her eyes as she tried to shake the unasked question away from existence.
“Absolutely not. God, Tam. That’s like incest or something. How could you even—just, no. Let me finish. Like I was saying, I saw Tess. And she’s been falling apart since we lost Danny. And raising Charlie, it was just too hard. Too much like seeing a little Danny look back at her. And a whole lot of hurt and angst I won’t get into. But I’m sure you know as best as we can. And well, for the reasons raising Charlie was making her ache, she thought that maybe it would do the opposite for me. Bring me out of a slump. Give me someone to take care of now that I’m taking care of myself again. So I can be a better person for myself, you know. And you. And—and Deb. And I think she felt terrible for even suggesting this and please, Tam, don’t judge Tess. She just wants what’s best for him and—“
“God,” Tammy breathed. “No, I could never. I can’t imagine what she’s gone through and of course. Of course we all just want what’s best for our kids.”
“She still wants to be in his life, but she just doesn’t feel like she can be the parent he needs. So, Tess sort of, made me Charlie’s legal guardian and if things go well? I want to adopt him. And Deb to one day. You know. If she wants.”
“Fuck. How is Debbie going to take all this?”
“I don’t know,” Lou sighed. “But we just got cleared.”
“Cleared?”
“Charlie,” Lou smiled softly, brushing a curl away from his face. “We’re clear to visit Deb. After all, she hasn’t ever had the chance to meet her nephew. I think it could help her with Danny. It could maybe—“
“How do you know she’ll want to see you this time?” Tammy asked quietly. “I know how many times you’ve tried and she’s—“
“She’s ashamed,” Lou shrugged. “And stubborn. And I know she blames herself for all of it. Claude. And prison. And Danny. And us. But I just—Fuck, I’d give anything to see her. And I want her to meet Charlie. And I just—I just want to see her face. Show her there’s hope. There’s something waiting for her on the outside when she gets through all this. There’s—there’s us. And we know her already. Love her already.” Lou smiled, turning Charlie around in her arms as he gurgled up at Tammy. “We’re just waiting for her to come home.”

Lawyer!Lou x Defendant!Debbie AU now also being shared on AO3👏🏻
by BlackAcre13
She’d refused her call. And no, she didn’t want any fucking goldfish crackers because how the hell would that help her at this point?
Danny was dead. Darlene and Dennis may as well have been dead. And Claude Becker had ruined her fucking life. There was no one to blame but herself. No one to help but herself. What was the point of fighting any of it? She’d read the signs all wrong. She’d taken the risk. And she’d gotten conned. This is how her world worked.
She was over it all. Debbie just wanted some peace and some quiet so she could stew in her own guilt and self-pitying.
(After taking the fall for Claude Becker’s latest fraudulent dealings in the art world, Debbie finds herself on trial, bound for prison, until attorney, Lou Miller is assigned to her case.)

could you write versions of Lou’s POV when debbie gets jealous of tess? those young loubbie/tess stories you write but it’s lou’s perspective 🥺
I just did Lou’s point of view for Young Loubbie/Tess + Rusty playing poker the other day, so I took a stab at Lou’s POV when Debbie is jealous of how flirty Lou and Tess are when they’re married: Original is here, but you don’t have to have read the original to understand this update!
“Stop doing that,” Tammy sighed, leaning back against the the laundry room door as Lou looked up from where she was bent over the washer, fishing around for something.
“You’ll have to be more specific, love,” Lou laughed, holding up a small, stuffed rabbit with floppy ears that had weaseled its way into the laundry and escaped Dani’s supervision.
“That,” Tammy huffed. “Exactly that. The loves, the flirting, the smirks, the winks.”
“You love it,” Lou winked before letting out a snort as she closed the washer, turning to face her friend, tucking the bunny under crossed arms.
“Dare I ask?” Tammy asked, raising an eyebrow.
“About Bun Bun?” Lou grinned. “The police are on it. Put out an APB. Told Debs to watch her ass with the cops on the case, but you know, you do what you have to do to get a missing bunny back.”
“Lou,” Tammy exhaled, reaching out to touch the blonde’s shoulder. “Come on.”
“It’s really bothering her that much?” Lou asked, her face sinking as reality dawned on her. Tammy shouldn’t have been surprised that Lou was only feigning innocence and knew exactly what Tammy had been up to. Protecting Debbie. Like she always did. Well, when she wasn’t protecting Lou.
“I mean she says it’s not,” Tammy shrugged. “But you know how stubborn she is.”
“Yeah,” Lou breathed, leaning back against the laundry machine , propping her wrists up on the lid as Tammy made a beeline for the tumbling bunny, catching it with expert skill. “You know I tried to give her shit for it.”
“By doing what?” Tammy laughed, twisting the bunny around in her hands.
“By saying she flirts with you just as much,” Lou smirked.
“That’s different,” Tammy sighed, waving her hand.
“That’s what Debs said,” Lou grinned, shaking her head. “Two peas.”
“Debs and I are never on the same page about anything, Lou,” Tammy laughed. “But nice try there, Miller.”
“Ocean,” Lou corrected on instinct as Tammy studied her quietly for a moment.
“Yeah,” Tammy nodded. “Ocean. Just remind Debbie of that, sometimes. You know? That you’re hers.”
“It’s just Tess,” Lou pointed out. “And you know it’s just innocent, sister-in-law, friend shit. It’s not—“
“I know,” Tammy smiled. “I do. I’d never accuse you of anything and I know you never would even think of doing anything. Just—this is a Debbie I’ve never know before. A Debbie who’s a wife and a mother. And a Debbie who had her life thrown upside down and lost everything and couldn’t see an end in sight. And then she lost Danny. I just—the little Debbie things I usually brush off or laugh at—which I even told her she’s being ridiculous and I saw those convincing whispers and kisses, Lou—just, protect her, okay? Keep her close. I don’t think it’s really that stubbornness or that jealousy like the old Deb.”
“You think she’s scared,” Lou realized, tears forming in her eyes.
“Yeah,” Tammy bit her lip. “I think she’s waiting for something bad to happen. Like she doesn’t deserve all the good that’s happened to her. She has you, finally. And Danielle. And this giant family. And this gorgeous home. I just feel like she’s waiting for something to go wrong. And even if it doesn’t, because it won’t. I think she needs to hear that from you.”
The blonde lingered in the hallway upstairs for a moment after she walked Tammy out, trying to swallow the doubts and fears that were creeping up in her own mind. She hadn’t meant to make nothing out of Debbie’s jealousy if it truly was worried. And even though she’d addressed it sincerely, she wanted to make sure that her wife was truly okay. That she felt secure and safe and loved.
She knocked lightly on the door before entering, her heart melting as she saw Dani curled up against Debbie’s lap as the brunette read quietly to her, Danielle letting out a little yawn.
“Hey, baby,” Debbie smiled as Dani looked up at the blonde excitedly, giving her a tiny wave.
“I don’t want to interrupt story time,” Lou whispered, sitting down on the edge of the bed. “But I found this stowaway in the laundry room,” she smiled, passing the bunny to Danielle as she let out an excited yelp, throwing her arms around Lou as she let out a chuckle.
“You saved him!” Dani cried, snatching the bunny the blonde offered her as she excitedly showed it to Debbie.
“I made it my mission,” Lou whispered, stroking the younger girl’s hair back as she looked up at her wife. “I know you sleep better with him by your side,” she spoke to Dani, but Debbie knew the words weren’t for her daughter. “Bun Bun is nice and safe and ready for bed, right? And he loves you. And so do I. And so does Mom.”
Debbie’s hand found Lou’s squeezing it tight as Dani smiled, looking back and forth between them.
“I love you!” Dani sang as her moms shared a laugh, squeezing her tight.
“Alright, squirt,” Lou sighed, tucking the blankets around Danielle as she made to stand. “Can I borrow your mama now that you and Bun Bun are all ready for bed?”
Danielle gave a nod, accepting a kiss on the head from both Debbie and Lou before they flicked off the light, Lou kicking on the nightlight before the door closed behind them.
“You know how Fucking much I love you, right?” Lou asked, pulling Debbie in against her hips outside their bedroom door.
“No,” Debbie giggled. “Remind me.”
“I’ll do you better than that,” Lou smirked, picking Debbie up as she let out a shriek as Lou carried her into their bedroom.

Please could you do part 2 of the simple favour au?
Part one; Here's part two!
“I’m not around this afternoon,” Lou frowned, turning back to Debbie. “But I can make some time tomorrow evening. Maybe you two would like to come over for dinner? I make some mean drinks.”
“Oh, I don’t let Dani—“
“For us,” Lou snorted. “Stevie lives off of juice boxes and sprite. Who do you think I am, Debbie?” She laughed, looking amused once more at Debbie’s naivety.
“Yeah, yeah,” Debbie backtracked. “Dinner would be great. Would 6 work?”
“It’s a date,” Lou smirked, waving Stevie over as she hugged the child before pushing her off with Dani as Danielle sent Debbie a small wave before the two ran inside. “Here’s my number,” she murmured, slipping a business card into Debbie’s pocket as the brunette swallowed thickly. “Do you like steak?”
“Oh, Dani doesn’t—“
“Do you like steak, Debbie?” Lou smirked again, one long leg starting to climb into the back of the car and hesitating, her multi-ringed fingers tapping against the car door as she waited.
“One of my favorites,” Debbie nodded.
“I think we deserve better than dinosaur chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, don’t you?” Lou chuckled, making Debbie’s stomach flip deliriously. “I’ll see you and Dani tomorrow,” she added, climbing into the car and closing the door before Debbie could answer, the dark car speeding away as Debbie stared after it with her mouth hanging open, unsure of what the hell had just happened.
Debbie pulled into Lou Miller’s driveway, unabashedly gawking at the size of the house and the way the drive wrapped around in an enormous circle, wondering if it was Lou’s husband who had three motorcycles parked on the edge of it and who each of the vintage cars belonged to. Lou’s driveway and its contents were probably worth more than triple Debbie’s house alone and if this were a time before Danielle and if Danny were still around, Lou would have probably been more of a mark than a playdate.
“Cute shoes,” Lou smirked, swinging open the door as she looked down at the heels Debbie was wearing.
“Thanks,” Debbie blushed, trying to tuck her hair behind her ear, suddenly feeling embarrassed and ridiculous for having worn them on purpose this time. “They’re yours. Well, not yours, of course. But you, um, designed them—well, you probably didn’t design them yourself, you probably have a whole team who—you—“
“You ramble a lot when you’re nervous, don’t you?” The blonde mused, peering around Debbie where Danielle was clinging to her thigh. “Dani,” Lou winked. “Good to see you again, kid. Stevie’s upstairs. Why don’t you run up there and join her? Her bedroom door’s wide open. Can’t miss it.”
Danielle gave Debbie a quick wave before barreling past the two women into the house and darting up the steps, her backpack flapping wildly against her back as Debbie heard Stevie shriek and giggle with delight.
“So,” Debbie smiled awkwardly, snapping her fingers nervously. “Are you married?”
“That depends,” the blonde grinned, studying Debbie like she was sizing her up, Debbie suddenly self-conscious in her simple jeans and blouse while Lou stood there looking runway ready in a designer suit that seemed to be tailor-made to her body. “You looking for a date?”
“Who, me?” Debbie laughed, the laughter getting too away from her with her nerves. Idiot, she chided herself, hating that she probably looked like a moron standing here talking to Lou Miller when she should have been at home, minding her business and paying her bills and drinking boxed wine while Dani watched tv. “No, no, no. Of course not. I just saw the motorcycles and thought—“
“It’s…complicated,” Lou offered, closing her eyes in frustration before the look dissipated from her face as if it had never been there in the first place, leaving Debbie feeling like she had gotten a glimpse of Lou she wasn’t supposed to quite see. “But yes, technically. The bikes, however, are mine,” she finished, whipping around as she started to walk into the house, gliding down the corridor as Debbie watched after her in awe, her heeled boots clicking along the tile. “Coming? Or dropping off? Thought you were having steak night with me?”
“Coming!” Debbie squeaked, stumbling into the house as she hurriedly closed the door behind her, feeling Lou stare at her as she fumbled messily with the lock. She whipped around to face Lou, only to find that the blonde had disappeared and was replaced instead with a large painting of…Lou. Stark naked. But her hair much darker, almost Debbie’s tone.
Lou shrugged, rolling her eyes at it.
“Used to dye my hair,” the blonde shrugged, like they were discussing the weather. “I get bored easily.”
“Who painted it?” Debbie swallowed, trying not to stare at the perfect swell of porcelain breasts or the gentle curves of her hips, feeling like she again was seeing more of Lou than she was meant to, even though it was on display in a home she’d been invited into. “It’s…terrific.”
“An almost famous painter,” Lou sighed, now frowning at it. “Back in New York.”
“Almost famous, huh?” Debbie pondered.
“Fucking bitch,” Lou grumbled, making Debbie’s head snap up suddenly as if she’d done something wrong, until she realized Lou must have been talking about the artist. “Music?” She asked, flicking on a remote before Debbie could answer, a swell of classic rock, swarming through the enormous home.
“Your house is incredible,” the brunette breathed, looking around in awe. “Simply gorgeous.”
“It’s a Fucking money pit,” Lou snorted, leaning against the marble counter with her hand under her chin.
“Oops,” Debbie smiled, pretending to zip her lips.
“Oops?” Lou asked, raising a perfectly manicured eyebrow.
“Sorry, it’s just with Dani, I had to break myself of cursing. Such a bad habit. I mean—if you want to—there’s nothing wrong with it—I just used to curse like a sailor and when Dani came to live with me I—force of habit. We have an oops jar for Dani.”
“You should smash that damn jar,” Lou grinned, shaking her head. “It might change your whole life.”
“I’m sorry,” Debbie sighed, feeling terrible for swooping in on Lou’s parenting style. Who the hell was she to judge this stranger in her own home?
“Stop it.”
“Stop, what?” The brunette asked, nervous again as she picked at her thumb.
“Stop saying you’re sorry,” Lou sighed. “It’s a fucked up female habit and you shouldn’t have to say it.”
“You’re right,” Debbie exhaled. Because she was. Women were always taking themselves down a notch or eight for no good reason. “That’s—that’s solid advice.”
Why was she such a hot, fumbling mess around this woman? But Lou didn’t seem to mind. If anything, she was amused.
“Come on,” Lou laughed. “Let’s get you a drink. Calm those nerves.”
“So your uh, kitchen. You must really love to cook,” Debbie cleared her throat, watching the blonde fiddle through the cabinet for some glasses.
“I used to,” Lou shrugged, placing two glasses down on the counter as she considered them for a moment. “But it was something Claude insisted on. I’d be just as happy with cartons of shitty Chinese food.”
“Claude?” Debbie asked, running an index finger along the cool countertop.
“My husband,” Lou rolled her eyes, starting to pour amber liquid into the glasses with a grimace on her face. “Surprised, right? I’d bet you were expecting a woman’s name. Me too,” she laughed, shaking her head. “Didn’t think it would take me until I was already knocked up and pregnant to realize I was gay,” she sighed, sliding a glass across the counter towards a stunned Debbie as she held hers up for a cheers. “Too much?” Lou snorted, leaving Debbie to wonder whether that was in regards to the information or the glasses filled to the brim with scotch.

omg debbie and lou in a simple favour au (but they end up together)
Debbie Ocean had never dreamed of having a child. She’d never even asked for a doll. She was far more fascinated with toy cars and puzzles and logic games. Happily waiting in the doctor’s office as she swung her legs back and forth under the chair with a notepad of Sudoku or even the crossword puzzle from The Times she’d stolen from her father’s spot at the kitchen table.
She never expected to have a child, and she certainly had never imagined having to raise one on her own without much of a warning. But fate had a funny way of working sometimes. Not that she’d call the accident fate at all. It had been the worst day of her entire life. But life was good at bringing you the things you never thought you wanted in the most inconvenient of ways and making you realize that you couldn’t fathom never having wished for it at all. And that was Danielle Ocean. First, her niece. A few years later, a car accident in between, and a hell of an adoption process after, her daughter. It was what Danny and Tess would have wanted and Debbie Ocean let her life be turned upside down completely to make it happen.
And while she’d gotten more than used to the idea of Dani being hers, sharing their favorite things about Danny, and having breakfast for dinner, and helping her brush her hair, she still didn’t think of herself as the perfect mother. Or even a mother at all. But the other moms at school had other thoughts. Debbie just knew that life had dealt Danielle a rough hand and she wanted anything in her control to be completely perfect as possible. And most of the time, that meant saying yes whenever she could.
And this time, Debbie’s yes to a simple playdate with a girl in Danielle’s class would bring her further into the world of the elusive and mysterious Lou Miller and flip her world on its head once more.
“Pleaseeeee, Aunt Deb,” Dani pled, bouncing up and down in her carseat as Debbie chuckled at her reflection in the rearview mirror.
“You’ve already got my yes, love,” Debbie laughed. “But you know the playdate rule, both moms have to say yes, alright?”
“If Stevie’s mom is at drop-off can we ask her?”
“Her name is Stevie?”
“Yeah! Like Stevie Nicks from Big Mac!”
“I mean that’s half right,” Debbie mumbled before she nodded, granting Danielle’s request. “Of course we can ask her. You know, I’ve never heard you talk about Stevie before.”
“She’s new!” Dani smiled, showing Debbie her toothy grin as she zipped her backpack up, noticing Debbie was pulling into the school parking lot. “She used to live with kangaroos!”
“She’s from Australia?” Debbie mused. “Wonder what they’re doing in New York now.”
“You already know, Aunt Deb,” Dani sighed, smacking her face against her cheek as if to prove that Debbie was the most ridiculous person in the world. “You wear lots of clothes.”
“I wear lots of clothes?” Debbie laughed. “Thank you, D. That’s very helpful.”
“You’re welcome!” Dani sang as she giggled, cheering as they parked in a spot. Debbie shook her head with a grin as she got out, carefully buckling the little girl and taking one of her hands and her backpack as she closed and locked the car, walking them across the street. “There she is! That’s Stevie!”
Debbie followed Danielle’s excited pointing finger to a sleek black car where a blonde woman in a dark green, velvet suit was leaning against the side as a miniature blonde spoke excitedly at her, shaking a ziplock bag up and down as the woman chuckled, before checking her watch and calling something to someone inside the car.
Seriously? Debbie thought. Who used a driver to drop their kid off at elementary school?
“I have to be going now, sweetie. But we’ll find her mum after school, alright? I promise.”
“That’s Dani!” The little girl suddenly squealed, pointing to Debbie and Danielle as Dani tugged excitedly at Debbie’s shirt before sprinting towards the black car, the tall woman turning to them with a smirk, aviators sliding onto the bridge of her nose to cover deep blue eyes from the sun as she swiveled, waving with a single posed finger.
“I take it this is Danielle,” the woman chuckled, as Dani darted towards Stevie and the two danced around showing each other their beaded bracelets.
“And the famous Stevie,” Debbie smiled. “Debbie Ocean.”
“Lou Miller.”
“Lou Miller?” Debbie repeated. “Like the Louise Miller who designed my shoes?”
The blonde made a zipper motion across her lips as she smiled.
“What are those? An 8? Want them in another color?” She smirked. “My treat.”
“You’re kidding, right?” Debbie laughed. “But if that’s not a joke, yes, I’m an 8. Actually, I was dragged over here to see if you’d be alright with the girls having a playdate. Maybe this afternoon?”
“Dragged over?” Lou tsked, amused. “I consider myself to be very exciting company, Debbie Ocean.”
“I’m sorry,” Debbie sighed. “I didn’t mean to—“
“Don’t apologize,” the blonde rolled her eyes. “I hate when women apologize. You don’t owe anyone shit.”
“That’s a bad word,” Dani sang.
“You don’t owe anyone…salt?” Lou tried, lower her glasses as she turned to Danielle. “That better, kid?”
“Much better!” Danielle giggled, turning to Stevie.

Cate and Julia Roberts seem to pals in real life so what if Lou and Tess get along really well to the point of making Debbie jealous and Tess sees it as an opportunity to make Debbie admit she wants to be more than con partners with Lou
“You know, every time I head over there to listen to Danny’s newest pitch, I think, god, Danny couldn’t be more of a jerk if he tried,” Debbie sighed as she walked into the apartment, throwing her peacoat on the poker table. “And then, he outdoes himself.”
Debbie looked down at her blouse, fingers toying with the top button.
“Careful before you strip down in the living room, love,” Lou smirked, her blue eyes twinkling. “We’ve got company.”
“And before you insult my husband again,” a familiar voice teased. “Your sister-in-law is the company.”
Debbie let out a sheepish grin as she blushed. “Hey, Tess. Look, I’m sorry. I just—“
“Are you kidding?” Tess snorted. “You’re in good company. We all know what a jerk Danny can be, especially when it comes to sharing. But it is my duty to defend his honor and all,” she grinned, flashing her diamond at the brunette.
“So, I take it we’re not doing the job?” Lou asked, eyebrow raised.
“Oh, we’re doing it,” Debbie smirked. “We’re just doing it my way.”
“You stole his watch again, didn’t you?” Lou beamed, proud of her partner.
“Of course,” Debbie glowed, sitting down in Lou’s favorite armchair as she surveyed the two women on the couch. “What have you two been up to?”
“Oh you know the usual,” Tess laughed, waving her hand around. “A little making out, painted each other’s nails, baked some cookies together.” She elbowed Lou’s side with a wicked grin as the blonde let out a stream of giggles that Debbie rarely saw.
“Lou doesn’t wear nail polish,” Debbie grumbled, rolling her eyes.
“But the making out and cookie baking is alright with you?” Tess winked. “Alright, Lou. You heard the lady. Duly noted.”
“Actually,” the Australian chuckled, standing up. “Tess and I were waiting for you to get back so we could grab something to eat. You up for dinner? Your pick.”
“Sounds good,” Debbie decided, stretching out her legs and flexing her feet. “Just give me a few to change. Don’t want to go out like this.”
“You look fine,” Lou promised, brushing it off.
“Well, if I only look fine then it definitely isn’t good enough,” Debbie sang, sending Lou a wink.
“Take your time, honey,” Lou laughed. “Was just about to head out for a cigarette anyway.”
“I’ll go with you, Deb,” Tess offered, her eyes flickering between the blonde and brunette trying to assess something Debbie didn’t quite understand.
“You ladies take your time,” Lou spoke, headed towards the sliding door as her boots clicked across the floor. “I’ll be waiting when you’re ready. Can one of you just grab my blazer off my bed?”
“Of course, baby,” Debbie nodded before headed to her room, Tess close on her tail.
She closed the door, headed for her closet as Tess flopped down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
“Don’t know what you’re thinking for dinner, but if we’re going fancier, you’ll definitely have to let me borrow a dress or something,” Tess called from the bed as Debbie rummaged through the closet with a hum.
“I’ll bring out some options for you,” Debbie nodded, pushing through the hangers to find her black dress Lou liked.
“So how long have you two been a thing?” Tess called, making Debbie stop in her tracks as she held the dress gingerly between two fingers, wondering what Tess meant.
“Who two?” Debbie laughed, sticking her head out of the closet.
“Honey? Baby? Love?” Tess quipped. “Practically ready to strip down naked the second you walked through the door.”
“I was too hot in that blouse,” Debbie sighed, throwing the dress onto the bed. She unbuttoned the blouse in question, stepping out of her slacks, standing near the bed as she considered her jewelry box for a moment.
“That wasn’t my question,” Tess pointed out, absolutely amused. She sat up slowly, shaking out her auburn hair before studying Debbie as she looked at her own reflection as she switched her earrings out.
“And I repeat, who?” Debbie rolled her eyes, even though her cheeks were burning. She knew exactly who Tess meant. Lou.
“Lou,” Tess whispered softly. “You’re not together?”
“Of course not,” Debbie spat, almost too quickly. Too defensive.
“Well, why not?” Tess laughed, standing as she walked towards Debbie’s closet to peruse on her own. She held up a merlot dress that Debbie hadn’t even ever remembered wearing and waited for Debbie’s nod of approval before shimmying down to her own underclothes and slipping on the dress. “Zip me up?”
Debbie paced over to her sister-in-law, trying to not let her mind or heart race too much as she repeated Tess’s question over again in her head. How many times had she asked herself that question. Why wasn’t she with Lou? Wasn’t it the most obvious thing in the world that they wanted to be together? Or was she making things up in her head? If Tess had seen it, then surely…
The brunette’s careful fingers moved the zipper up slowly before closing the hook and eye in place. She pat Tess’s shoulder to tell her she was done. Debbie could feel Tess’s observant eyes on her once more as she slipped into her own dress, already zipping it before Tess could offer. She was used to doing things alone.
“I don’t mix business with pleasure,” Debbie shrugged as Tess choked down a laugh. They both knew her dating history consisted 90% of fellow cons and criminals. But maybe that was part of the problem. “And besides, I don’t see Lou that way.”
“No?” Tess asked, her eyes narrowing in disbelief.
“Definitely not,” Debbie lied, checking the time on Danny’s watch before she gestured towards the door. “We should go.”
“Don’t forget to grab your girlfriend’s blazer,” Tess smirked.
Debbie rolled her eyes, but stopped in the adjacent bedroom to snatched the blazer off of the bed, storming out into the living room where Lou was waiting. Tess watched quietly as Lou smiled at Debbie with a “thank you, honey” and a wink and then as Debbie straightened the lapels of the blazer before tossing Lou her car keys.
“Ready to go?” Lou asked, looking between the other two women. “I assume by the dress, Deb has chosen our favorite Italian place.”
“Our favorite,” Tess whispered, elbowing Debbie in the side before moving away so Debbie couldn’t swat back at her. She decided to milk the evening for all it was worth to see if she could get some honesty out of the younger Ocean. She may have been a talented con, but Tess knew she couldn’t hide her heart forever.
The trio headed outside and Tess took the opportunity of Lou opening the passenger door open to slip in front of Debbie and slide into the seat, touching Lou’s cheek and thanking her for being so chivalrous. After some giggling in the lounge where they waited for a table, Tess dragged Lou to the seat next to her, the duo sitting across from Debbie. Tess was playing a game, Debbie knew. Lou was just going with the flow but she always knew what made Tess smile and laugh. The two had always been close. It used to make Debbie warm and happy to know that they got along so well, but now, for some reason, it drove her up a wall.
The Ocean’s skin was crawling. They had inside jokes. They shared their entrees. They split dessert. They kept filling Debbie in on jokes and stories she’d missed from the afternoon and Tess could practically see the steam coming out of Debbie’s ears.
“You okay, love?” The blonde whispered to Debbie, lingering outside the car after Tess got in.
“Yeah,” Debbie lied, blinking away tears.
“Not gonna get away with conning me that easy, Ocean,” Lou smiled softly, tucking a strand of hair behind Debbie’s ear. “Talk later?”
“Yeah,” Debbie repeated numbly.
“Promise?” The Australian whispered, putting her pinky out.
“Promise,” Debbie blushed, her smile turning to a scowl as Tess gave her a look as she clambered into the backseat.
“I’m gonna head home, ladies,” Tess announced as they got out of the car. “Should get home to Danny. But it’s been fun playing hooky with you both. Lou? You owe me a game of strip poker.”
Debbie looked like she was going to explode.
“Give me a second?” Tess asked Lou. “Have some sister business to discuss,” she grinned at Debbie.
Lou waved goodnight to Tess and told Debbie she’d be in the kitchen before heading into the apartment. They both watched her leave and then Tess was looking at Debbie with a sad smile.
“You should tell her, you know,” Tess whispered.
“Tell her what?” Debbie sighed.
“That you’re in love with her.”
“I’m not—“ Debbie started, but she couldn’t deny it. Something was tugging at her heart strings. Why couldn’t she deny it really?
“She loves you too, Deb, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“I mean I’ve thought about hooking up maybe but like I said I don’t mix business and pleasure. And I don’t think that I lo—“
“Don’t you though?” Tess smiled, her eyes following Debbie’s as they looked past the cars to the apartment, as if she could see Lou still. “You’ve been doing it for so long I don’t even think you realize.”
“Doing what?” Debbie rolled her eyes.
“Loving her.”

Please do a part 2 of when Tess comes over and tries to get Debbie to admit her feelings for Lou!!
Part one is here:
“Help me,” Debbie hissed into the phone, looking around her room, her eyes wide and crazed.
“Debbie?” Tess asked, her frown practically coming through the receiver. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“I couldn’t do it,” Debbie huffed. “God, I’m so stupid. I had the opportunity right there. And I feel like she knew and you knew and just—god, I really fucked it up this time, didn’t I? I mean how will she ever know if I can’t even get up the nerve to do it? I’ve really lost it now. This is pathetic. I mean who in the hell is this stubborn and emotionally immature that they can’t—“
“Hold up,” Tess chuckled, fumbling around on her end. “I’m playing catch-up here. But I’ve only ever heard the famous Debbie Ocean ramble this much if Lou is involved. Are we talking about Lou?”
“Yes,” the brunette squeaked.
“Okay,” Tess murmured. “Now rewind and start from the beginning. Take a deep breath first too.”
“I couldn’t tell her,” Debbie practically screamed. “It was right there and I—“
“You couldn’t tell her…” Tess prompted.
“That I’m in love with her,” Debbie sighed, looking around the room again as if the empty apartment would be able to tell Lou the secret that only she had the power to divulge.
“Well, I can’t lie. It’s nice to finally hear you say it out loud, Debs.”
“Well, it was nice while it lasted, but then I screwed it up.”
“Impossible,” Tess smiled. “You have no idea how in love with you that woman is. Well, perhaps you’d know better than anyone else, but I promise you haven’t screwed anything up. She’d walk to the ends of the earth for you.”
“The earth is round, Tess,” Debbie sighed.
“Definitely not my point, Danny junior,” Tess grumbled. “You can throw stubbornness and sarcasm back at me or you can listen and take my advice. You decide.”
“I want the advice,” Debbie sighed. “I’m sorry. I just—please, Tess. I can’t lose her now that I’m so close.”

omg could you do a loubbie smut fic inspired by the 50 shades scene in the lift where christian fingers ana
I’ve never seen 50 Shades, so taking this as a quickie in the elevator prompt!
“That was absolutely vile,” Debbie sighed, throwing her head back against the wall with a thud. “I’ve never seen either of them like that.”
“Could’ve been way more horrible” Lou murmured with a shrug. “I mean there was no screaming. No throwing things. I expected a war zone.”
“This was worse,” the brunette frowned. “At least that would show me that they were fighting for something. For each other. They were both so defeated. I don’t think I could ever even imagine if…”
“Hey,” Lou whispered, reaching out for Debbie’s hand. “Don’t even go there, honey. That’s not going to happen to us.”
“They used to be so happy, Lou,” the brunette sniffed. “I mean his heists weren’t the only thing I put Danny on a pedestal for. Tess and him. It just—it just worked. It gave me hope that someone like an Ocean could find someone amazing to love.”
The blonde nodded sympathetically, squeezing her partner’s hand. “It’s like you said, Deb,” she spoke softly, trying to get Debbie to let out even a small smile. “They stopped fighting for each other. That passion, that effort, even that love…it just isn’t there anymore.”
“And I do love you,” Debbie nodded. “More than anything, baby. You know that right?”
“I do,” the Australian smiled, her heart fluttering. “And that passion is definitely still there. I’ll never get over that ass either.”
“Lou,” Debbie chided with a blush as she pressed the elevator button, her foot tapping as she waited for the light to go off as the blonde hummed beside her. “So what do you even do after serving as a witness for your brother’s divorce settlement? Disco fries? Milkshakes?”
“Does it have to involve diner food?” Lou smirked, her face glowing as she wrapped her arms around Debbie’s waist. “I really like this blazer, by the way.”
“Thanks,” Debbie murmured, leaning back against Lou’s chest. “It’s yours.”
“It’d look better on the floor,” Lou shrugged.
The down arrow light went off as the elevator doors opened, both women stepping inside with a deep sigh, the tension starting to sink from their shoulders after such a long and arduous morning spent at a conference room table, only touching pinky fingers and the heels of their boots together for support as they sat stone-faced and anxious together.
“Here?” Debbie laughed as the doors closed behind them as they stepped in, Lou’s heel kicking at the emergency button as the ringing started, the elevator holding still between floors.
“Why not?” The blonde breathed, licking along Debbie’s neck as her wrapped arms started to shift, one hand wandering into the waistband of Debbie’s slacks. “I know it’s not disco fries but…”
“Baby, we’re in an elevator,” Debbie protested, her resistance quickly turning to a moan as she felt Lou’s fingers brush against her panties.
“We’ve done worse,” the blonde chuckled, pushing two fingers between Debbie’s folds as the Ocean moaned louder this time. “Besides, you’re so wet for me already. Why wait until we get home?”
“Lou, I—I—“
“Hm?” Lou hummed, pumping in and out of Debbie slowly as she ground against Lou’s fingers.
“I’m out of excuses,” Debbie gasped as Lou suddenly pumped harder, adding another finger as Debbie fell towards the wall, stopping the fall with her hands out, hitting the wall of the elevator as Lou picked up the pace, stretching her wide, the brunette groaning under her as Lou hissed along her neck, whispering in her ear how good she was for her. How hot she was like this.
“I can’t wait to get you home and throw you on our bed,” Lou murmured. “Really show you how much you turn me on, honey.”
“Baby, please—“
“Please, what?” Lou smirked, curling her fingers with a cocky grin as she felt Debbie tighten around her, her thighs starting to shake.
“Fuck, I’m gonna.”
“Already?” Lou laughed. “But I was having so much fun with you, Deb. And I—“
“Shit, baby. Please,” Debbie panted as Lou kissed her neck, deciding to show her mercy as she nodded her head.
“Go ahead, honey,” Lou murmured. “Go on. Let go for me. Make a mess all over my fingers.”
“F-Fuck, Lou.”
“Still need those fries or can I tell you how I want you to come for me next?”

hey-ah! here is the official ask for tess with younger lou and debbie 🥺♥️
As a refresher/background, I wrote a piece where Debbie (married to Lou) was jealous of Lou and Tess's friendship/flirtiness even though it was all in good jest. See here! But then in the comments, there was some wishful discussion for some younger Loubbie (maybe on the rocks) where the flirtation between Lou x Tess and the jealousy of Debs started. So here we go!
“What are you doing in my fridge?” Debbie asked, practically yelling, as a frazzled Rusty hit his head on the freezer while trying to duck out of the way, caught red-handed with an old pizza box and a Chinese food carton in his hands.
“Hey, Deb,” he grinned cheekily, closing the fridge door with his foot. “Danny sent me.”
“To raid my fridge?” The brunette asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, it wasn’t much of a raid,” he laughed, putting the containers down on the counter before licking at his lip. “I guess Lou was the chef between the two of you.”
Debbie shot him a dark look he couldn’t quite read, but he held his hands up in defeat, backing away without a beat
“It’s fine,” he backtracked, hopping onto the counter as he rolled a bruised apple across the countertop. “Danny can’t cook for shit either.”
“Speaking of my brother,” Debbie sighed, examining her nails for a moment. “I assume he’s sent you to be his carrier pigeon. You have a job for me?”
“Danny didn’t send me,” he admitted, tossing the apple around. “But he is hosting a poker game tonight, and I thought you could use some cheering up.”
“By getting conned by a bunch of his guys?” The brunette scoffed. “Yeah, not really my idea of cheering up.”
“Come on,” Rusty smiled. “You used to love prancing around the table, getting a peek at everyone’s cards and making faces. Nobody knowing whether you’re helping or hurting or just plain fucking with them.”
“I do like that,” Debbie grinned, letting out a light laugh. “Who’s going?”
Rusty shrugged. “Just the guys, I guess. It’s all Danny’s call, really. But he never can resist a visit from his little strawdebbie, right?”
The Ocean merely let out a little snort. “Alright,” she agreed. “I’ll be there. Just make sure there’s plenty of vodka. Top shelf.”
“Is there any other?”
************************************************************************
A few hours later, Debbie was knocking on Danny’s apartment door with a sigh, no longer feeling as confident as when she’d left her apartment.
She couldn’t lie. Rusty’s out-of-the-blue invitation, even if Danny had no idea, sounded like exactly what she had needed. She’d been moping around the house for too many days without a direction in mind. Besides the occasional morning trek for a bagel and coffee or nicking a few perfumes from department stores, she hadn’t plotted or planned anything.
Debbie was telling herself that she’d lost her touch. That maybe she wasn’t cut out for this. Maybe she should have stuck to doing things the Danny Ocean way as much as it killed her.
She had liked being on her own, but she had never really been on her own had she? She’d had…
“Lou,” Debbie breathed, her eyes growing wide in surprise as the blonde appeared before her at the door, a glass of whiskey in one hand and the other on the frame suddenly gripping tight, her knuckles going white.
It had only been a week, but Debbie felt like she hadn’t seen Lou in months, her eyes going misty just at the sight of her before she managed to get a grip on herself, clearing her throat as she straightened the coat over her skin-tight dress that was already perfectly in place. She let her eyes rake over the blonde without shame as she took in Lou’s usual tight, leather pants and band t-shirted, wrapped under a beaten-up corduroy blazer.
She was just about to tell her something. Anything. You look good. I miss you. I’m sorry. I love you. But then a bundle of dark curls fell over the blonde’s shoulder and she heard a loud laugh and a shriek of “Debs! I didn’t know you were coming!” From none other than Tess, Danny’s on-again, off-again girlfriend who seemed to always pop up at the worst of times for Debbie.
Debbie really liked Tess, but that might be why the woman had her boiling over with rage more often than not. Because it was one thing when people liked Lou, but it was another when they could really make her smile and laugh, and entirely another when Debbie had to watch her around Lou, knowing that Lou was over the moon, and it wasn’t because of Debbie.
“Hey, Tess,” Debbie murmured, pasting a smile on as she looked between the women, unable to help the way her nostrils flared as she watched Tess lean further over Lou to kiss Debbie’s cheek.
“She’s really my favorite Ocean,” Tess winked at Lou with a grin. “But don’t tell Danny. He’d have my head. Does he know you’re here?”
“I do now!” Danny called from the back of the room, waving at his sister over the other women’s heads. “Would you all get inside? Or will you ladies be spending your evening of poker in the doorway?”
“Rusty’s idea,” Debbie grumbled, pushing past the other two, her shoulder almost knocking Lou over as she let out a low, dark chuckle before placing her lips over her whiskey glass, sneaking a glance at the younger Ocean as she stormed past. “Danny,” she smirked, shoving her coat against Rusty’s chest.
“You gonna play tonight, Debs?” Danny grinned.
“I didn’t know she’d be here,” Debbie hissed in his ear as she smiled, waving to a few of the other men.
“Tess?” He laughed. “She told me if I could win the table, she’d give me another chance.”
“That’s absurd,” Debbie rolled her eyes. “Please tell me you have vodka.”
“Plenty,” he chuckled. “Why absurd, Deb? I don’t think I’m the only one looking for second chances around here, am I?” He smirked.
“Shut up,” Debbie growled, elbowing him in the gut as he let out a groan. “And, no. I’m not playing. Not this round anyway.”
Debbie set up camp in the kitchen, glaring through the galley window as she sipped at her martini, watching from a safe distance as the men started to settle in at the table, removing jackets and blazers as one of Danny’s friends started to deal cards.
Unsurprised, Debbie watched Lou slink into a chair, her eyes quickly glossing over her cards before she placed them down, her face expressionless. Unreadable. And Debbie knew it wasn’t for her sake. It was all for the game.
But Debbie couldn’t manage to hide her own expression, her jaw dropping slightly, as Tess leaned over Lou, whispering something in her ear as Lou’s pale cheeks flushed red before Tess let out a loud laugh, passing Lou a newly refreshed drink.
“Tess, go hang out with Debs or something,” Danny suggested.
“And leave this VIP spot?” Tess teased. “No way.” She laughed, patting Lou on the shoulder as she kept her spot behind her. “Besides, Miller needs a lucky charm on her side with all these pigs.”
Debbie could see Danny growing jealous, and she knew this was probably Tess just trying to make him jealous, but she was already seeing red herself, growing more and more bitter with every laugh, every touch, and every whisper.
She refilled her glass and fixed her dress, pushing her breasts higher and tousling her hair more in front of her face before she sauntered into the living room, draping her arms around Rusty’s shoulders, giving him a soft kiss on the neck.
“Go along with this and I’ll owe you whatever you want,” Debbie whispered, placing her glass next to his as he placed his chips for the round down.
“How about more of this?” He smirked, giving Debbie a peek at his cards.
“Never going back down that road again,” Debbie laughed, a bit too loudly for the moment on purpose, smirking as she caught Lou sneaking a looking at her.
She couldn’t stand Tess’s delightful laugh that made everyone else smile, or the way she anticipated Lou’s needs for her requests for a drink or a snack or anything before she could even chat. It was driving her insane. She could only hope that the way she was practically clinging to Rusty and putting on a show of laughter and flirting was doing the same.
A few rounds in, she couldn’t stop feeling the blonde’s eyes on her, switching focus between her face and her cleavage, but lingering on Debbie’s hand that rested on Rusty’s arm. And she couldn’t help smirking when Lou finally swatted Tess’s hand away and mumbled something to her, her face and focus changing on the game and less on Tess’s teasing and flirting.
“I want her back,” Debbie whispered to Rusty. “Fuck, I want her back.”
“Anyone can see that’s what she wants too,” he whispered back, pretending to ask Debbie about his cards.
A few more rounds gone, and plenty of drinking glasses emptied later, pressed up against the wall of Danny’s guest bathroom with Lou’s lips against hers, their hips locked together as the brunette gripped her waist tight, promising herself she’d never let go again, Debbie had to admit one of the things she least liked to: that Rusty was right.

Pleasee, gaves us more of Tess and Lou friendship
“I’m sorry you got dragged into this,” Tess frowned, pushing the rest of the French fries towards the blonde. “But I can’t lie and say I’m not enjoying being able to steal you for the day without Debbie hoarding you,” she grinned. “Finish those, please. I can barely fit in my gown as it is and you’re practically all bones.”
“I don’t mind,” Lou grinned, snatching one of the fries as she chewed thoughtfully. “I am a bit jealous that Debbie gets to play best man for the day, but I like you well enough I suppose,” she teased before Tess shoved her in the shoulder playfully.
“Poor Deb,” the future Ocean laughed. “I hope she can keep up with them and their antics.”
“I think I’ve gotten her pretty well trained in the world of scotch and cigars,” Lou winked.
“Of course you have,” Tess beamed, looking at the younger woman thoughtfully. “Lou?”
“Yeah?” The Australian asked, brushing salt off her fingertips before taking a sip of her drink.
“I don’t suppose you’d have any interest in being one of my bridesmaids, would you?”
“Tess,” Lou grinned, shaking her head. “I’m honored of course but I—“
“I wouldn’t force you into a dress if that’s the but you’re about to make,” Tess laughed. “But I mean you’re practically my sister and you’ve been such a big help.”
“Oh,” Lou paused, mumbling something to herself as her gaze fell to her hands, her fingers sliding her rings around on her fingers.
“Shit,” Tess sighed. “I didn’t mean anything by that. I just thought that you and Debbie were—“
“Were what?” The blonde whispered, looking back up at Tess, her eyes hopeful.
“Forget it,” Tess smiled, waving her hand, her cheeks blushing red. “You know what they say about assumptions. Anyway, we’d better be going,” she sighed, checking her watch. “My fitting is in a few minutes.”
“Hey,” Lou tried, grabbing for her shoulder, trying to comfort her. “Tess, I just—“
“Forget I mentioned anything,” the older woman grinned, squeezing her shoulder. “My offer still stands though, but come on. We’ve got to get a move on. I hear there’s champagne involved though.”
Minutes later, Lou sat sprawled out, leather-covered legs spread as she sat back in an armchair, tracing the rim of a champagne glass as she waited for Tess to come out of the dressing room while a seamstress shot her dirty looks, her eyes constantly traveling down to the blonde’s dirt-covered combat boots tapping against the plush cream carpet.
“Alright, Miller,” Tess announced, throwing the door open. “Hit me with your best shot.”
“Fuck,” the blonde breathed, her face blooming into a smile as she took in Tess in her wedding dress, standing up from the chair. “Tess, you look—just stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. He’s going to love it.”
“You think?” She asked, holding the fabric of the skirt between her fingers as she looked down at the lace with pursed lips.
“I mean look at you,” Lou laughed, turning her towards the large mirror. “It’s perfect.”
Tess looked at her reflection in the mirror, letting herself twirl a bit before she laughed at herself softly, reaching out to squeeze Lou’s hand.
“Help me pick out a veil?”
“Of course,” Lou nodded, pointing at one of the three the sales women showed them for Tess to try on.
She was eager to talk to Tess. Anyone really. But Tess had somewhat brought it up. You’re practically my sister.
Debbie and she knew what they were. For the most part. But it was a recent development even if it had been blooming for years. And they probably had been the couple they’d been denying for so long, but each was waiting for the other to crack first and forget their stubbornness. Neither one wanting to hurt the other one, but drudging up a lot of pain and angst in their venture to play it safe until it had unraveled all at once in the most beautiful of ways. But Lou didn’t want to push too far. She didn’t even know if Debbie had told Danny yet. That they were more than just Lou and Debbie. Partners in more than one meaning of the word. But Tess had guessed it without prompting and Lou was growing more and more curious how she’d pegged it. And was glowing at the thought that Tess thought of her as family already regardless.
“You’re a million miles away, Miller,” Tess frowned, catching Lou looking at a veil in her hands as if it held all the answers to the questions she kept repeating inside her head. “I think our next task may be a little more up your alley.”
Lou didn’t know whether to laugh or to be mortified as Tess walked her into the lingerie department.
“I’m really glad Debbie got to avoid this at least,” Tess grinned letting out a boisterous laugh. “I’d hate to have her pick out something based on whether or not her brother would like it. But I have a feeling you’ve seen quite the lot of lingerie in your days.”
The blonde let out a snort. It was true, even if it wasn’t true now. Her days of hooking up with a stranger almost every night were far behind her and she wasn’t looking to revisit that lifetime anytime soon.
“Feel free to shop around for yourself,” Tess encouraged her. “Or whoever. I owe you something for all your help.”
Lou was left to her own devices to shop around for a bit and ponder her own whirring mind until Tess came up to her with a pile of white and cream pieces, Lou’s own hand running down burgundy velvet.
“That’s a beautiful color,” Tess spoke softly, her fingers running along the piece. “She’d be a knockout in it…but then again, she can really pull off anything, can’t she?”
Lou wanted to deny it or roll her eyes, but she was desperate to give in as Tess gave her a knowing smile and a wink.
“How long has it been?” Tess asked as Lou took the hanger in her hands, laying the material over her arm gingerly.
“Which part?” Lou chuckled, rolling her eyes playfully.
“She has always been as stubborn as Danny hasn’t she?” Tess laughed, nodding her head towards the fitting rooms.
“I’m partially to blame as well,” Lou shrugged, sitting down on one of the benches. “But it’s almost been a year. Of being official at least.”
“Only took five years,” Tess teased. “Though I’m sure those were also occupied with some version of dating.”
“Dating. Hooking up. Other activities. I’m sure you can fill in the blanks,” the blonde laughed, a blush rising on her cheeks.
“Well,” Tess sighed. “It’s about damn time. I’m glad I have someone officially in the trenches with me. Loving an Ocean is its own little world isn’t it?”
The word threw Lou, but she found herself agreeing before her mind could catch up with her heart.
“It really is,” the blonde chuckled. “And Tess?”
“Yeah?”
“I’d love to take you up on your offer,” Lou decided.
“About time,” Tess grinned. “I ordered a suit for you weeks ago. Even found the perfect tie to match.”
“Match?”
“Deb’s dress,” she winked before throwing the pile of lace at Lou. “Now help me choose something, please. But don’t get any ideas. We’ve both got an Ocean on the line.”

Hi, could you maybe write something where Tess joins the Ocean's crew and she has history with Tammy (and she's not a bitch like she is in most fics)
“Deb,” Lou spoke, her face changing as realization hit her. “You did tell her, right?”
“Tell who?” Debbie smirked, giving the blonde a quick shrug. Lou tried to push away the image of Debbie shrugging on the shore with that same damn smirk when they’d run the Met heist. That ‘I didn’t do that’ smirk where she’d tried to hide the fact that she was going to risk everything they’d worked so hard to get back by planting jewels on Claude. By tempting fate.
But Lou had forgiven her. And this wasn’t the same. So she shoved it down with a sigh, giving her wife a knowing smile instead as she rolled her eyes playfully.
“Tammy,” Lou clarified. “You owe it to her to give her the heads up before she gets blindsided.”
“She’s a big girl,” Debbie shrugged.
“What if Danny had done this to you while we were broken up?” The blonde asked, raising an eyebrow. Debbie’s loss of eye contact as she looked down at the table told Lou that she’d proven her point, only to be confirmed with Debbie’s irritated grumble and sigh.
“Fine,” Debbie groaned. “Fine, let’s tell her.”
“Nuh uh,” Lou laughed. “This was your idea, honey. You tell her. And Tess too while you’re at it. You can’t have either of them come into this like they’re walking into a trap. There’s too much at stake with the job.”
“I don’t like you being right,” Debbie sighed, patting her pockets to find her rarely used phone as Lou slid it to her from across the table.
“It’s a shame it happens so often,” Lou teased, glancing at the clock on the stove. “When are they supposed to get here any—“
“I hope this new one doesn’t have any sort of food restrictions!” Tammy called, sliding into the loft with a stack of Tupperware containers and two arms loaded with tote bags as she closed the door with her hip, trying to catch her breath as she shuffled the items in her hands, Lou standing up to help her as the other woman greeted her with a relieved smile. “I figured it was easier for me to bring lunch if we were meeting here,” Tammy exhaled. “We all know we’ll end up ordering pizza or something for dinner later anyway.”
“Tammy,” Lou nodded, shooting a pointed look at her wife as she helped the other woman into the kitchen, Tammy thanking her as Lou unloaded the bags from her arms before stacking the Tupperware on the counter. “Deb didn’t tell me you’d be here this early.”
“Early?” Tammy scoffed, looking down at her watch. “The girls will be here in twenty minutes.”
“Shit,” Debbie cursed, leaning back as she crossed her arms.
“Look,” Lou sighed. “My lovely planner of a wife has something to tell you, Tam. Before everyone gets here. Why don’t you take a seat?”
“What’d she do now?” Tammy smirked, looking to the blonde for a tease of an answer. Her face quickly turned to horror as Lou offered nothing but a sympathetic smile, motioning to Debbie. “Oh, fuck. Come on, Deb. What’s up?”
Debbie took a deep breath, placing her hand on Tammy’s as the younger woman looked at her like she was going to throw up. Before Debbie had the chance to get her sentence out, the door swung open again, of course, revealing Debbie’s secret before she could reveal it.
“I couldn’t remember if you said 12 or 12:30 so either I’m early or I’m late, but don’t worry, ladies, I’m here,” Tess grinned, waving her hand in the air as Lou tossed her a smile, Debbie’s face dropping at the same time as Tess’s as she took in Tammy’s surprised stance.
“We really should start locking that door,” Lou mumbled, sitting down on the table as she looked between Tess and Tammy. “And you really need to start divulging truths before the element of surprise smacks you in the face, honey,” Lou chuckled, shaking her head at the brunette.
“Tammy,” Tess breathed, the smile returning to her face. She hadn’t looked mad or upset. Just genuinely surprised. The same couldn’t be said of Tammy. There seemed to be about forty different expressions racing across her face.
“Hey,” Tammy whispered, her hand slipping from Debbie’s as she turned to face her.
“Well don’t just sit there,” Tess laughed, racing over towards the table. “Get over here and give me one of those famous Tim Tam hugs.”
“Okay,” Tammy agreed, sounding meeker than ever as she slowly stood, walking over to meet Tess halfway as Lou and Debbie shared a look of trepidation.
“I was just about to tell Tam you’re the newest member of our bad bitches brigade,” Debbie grinned sheepishly as Lou held her breath.
“I-Oh,” Tammy stammered as Tess enveloped her in the hug, squeezing her tight.
“It’s been too long, Tam,” Tess murmured, pulling back to look into her eyes. “How’re the kids? How’s the husband?”
“Good, good,” Tammy whispered, as if in a daze as she tried to take in the other woman as well.
“I meant to give you both a heads up,” Debbie conceded. “But my timing was shit. I just thought if we were using Danny’s contacts, they’d appreciate some familiar faces…and Tess brings us up to four of those. They’ll like knowing we all still run together.”
“So will Danny,” Tess agreed with a nod. “Well, if Tam was the first surprise, I know the rest of the girls are a bunch of winners.”
“You’ve got that right,” Lou nodded.
“Told you everything would work out alright,” Debbie smirked, murmuring into the blonde’s ear as she pulled her in close, observing the former couple talking comfortably over Lou’s shoulder.
“No you didn’t,” Lou laughed, kissing the Ocean’s forehead. “But I’m glad it’s going well.”
“Until the girls find out they have a history,” Debbie sighed.
The blonde let out a sigh of her own. “You’ve got that right. What is it about their desire to shove people from the past together?”
“I have no idea, baby,” Debbie laughed, kissing the wedding set that rested on Lou’s finger.

Hi! could you continue the Notting Hil AU please? ❤️
Of course! Here’s part 6 (I’m sorry friends😭)
“So, I take it you’re over her?” Tammy asked, pouring out tea for them both as Debbie stared down at the mug watching the milk swirl with the darker liquid.
Debbie looked up at Tammy, glaring daggers at her.
“Yeah,” Debbie spat sarcastically. “She’s yesterday’s trash. These last six months have gone by in the blink of an eye. Every date better than the next. Oh! And then there’s the avid joy of closing my shop. Nothing better than trying to sell books that won’t sell so you don’t have to pack them up from the store where they didn’t sell in the first place.”
“Jesus, Deb.” Tammy sighed, sitting down. “It’s not like I’m the one who broke up with—“
“She didn’t break up with—“ Debbie sighed, picking up the mug to give herself a moment to think. “It’s complicated with Lou. I don’t even know the complications. But it is. But it doesn’t matter. She’s gone.”
“So you wouldn’t care if, say, Tess saw her filming her new music video on location three blocks from here?” Tammy asked, hiding behind her cup.
“No,” Debbie lied, her blood running cold as her heart seemed to thrum faster at a worrying pace. “No, I don’t care,” the brunette whispered, her voice breaking.
“Rehearse that a few more times and I’ll almost believe you,” Tammy spoke softly.
“She’s here?” Debbie asked aloud after a few minutes of listening to her now thundering heart. Her head buzzing in a way that was half pleasurable and half bound for a migraine.
“Yeah,” the other woman nodded with a sigh. “To be candid, Deb, I think it was a fluke. Better to move on. Give your heart some room to heal. It was this once in a lifetime fling, right? But maybe it’s just over. Maybe you got out at the right time even if it wasn’t the way you wanted things to end.”
“The way I wanted things to end?” Debbie laughed bitterly. “God, I never wanted it to end. We barely even started.”
“I saw what you two had,” Tammy hummed. “It was real even if it was short.”
“No,” Debbie smiled sadly. “I know it was real. In fact, I don’t know if anything could ever match up to us. To her. I just mean—fate or the universe or just dumb luck—we didn’t even get a full chance to see what we could be. Just a glimpse. I guess…I guess I’ll just always have to wonder.”
***********************************************
“Wow,” Debbie laughed. “That was fast. Didn’t get distracted by the pizzeria on your way back with coffee this time? Or you finally felt bad that I’ve been the only one actually packing all the boxes?”
“Neither?” A velvet voice chuckled in confusion, the door to the shop closing with a snap as bells jingled overhead. “I’m great with packing though.” The blonde winked.
“Lou,” Debbie whispered, the two books in her hands tumbling into the open box in front of her without ceremony as Lou walked closer to her, offering out a hand as Debbie slowly rose to a standing position, face-to-face with the woman she saw everywhere but never thought she’d truly see again.
“Hey,” the Australian whispered, her fingers moving as if they were about to reach out to touch Debbie’s face, but then she was tucking them nervously into her pockets. Debbie found herself reaching for one, gingerly holding it in her own hand, contemplating.
“I didn’t think I’d ever see you again,” Debbie spoke. “Well, to be fair, I see your face everywhere. And your voice. I can’t stop hearing your voice. But I didn’t know—“
“I know,” Lou nodded, squeezing her hand. “I didn’t know if I would either. But I hoped if I did…when I did…that you’d want to see me.”
“I don’t know if that’s the thing I want the most or the least,” Debbie whispered, afraid to admit it to herself and Lou. “I can’t stop thinking about you.”
“Debbie,” Lou sighed with a smile, her other hand moving to hold Debbie’s cheek, running her thumb along it. “Fuck, I missed this skin. These lips.” Her thumb trailed along Debbie’s lower lip as she whimpered.
“I don’t know if I can put myself through all this again,” Debbie murmured, feeling her eyes start to sting. “You don’t want me riding shotgun with you for this kind of life. I’m nobody. And then there’s Leslie and whoever else…I think we’ll just keep hurting each other.”
Lou shook her head, trying to hold back her own tears as she cupped Debbie’s face.
“Please don’t say that. You can’t say that.”
“Lou,” Debbie whispered, turning away as she tried to take Lou’s wrist away from her face. “Please don’t make this harder than it is.”
“Debbie,” the blonde pleaded, tugging at her waist. “The whole Leslie thing isn’t real. She just showed up. It—whatever the fuck it was—has been over for months before I even met you. And Debs, none of that matters. All that matters is that I love you. I want to be with you, honey. I—“
“I love you too,” Debbie whispered. “But I don’t think we should be together. And it’s foolish for me to wait. This is your dream, Lou. You can’t give it up and I’d never ask you to. But it’s not my dream.”
“Debbie, you’re my dream,” Lou sobbed.
“Don’t say that,” Debbie laughed as tears fell freely. “You don’t mean that.”
“Please, Debbie—“
“It’s too late, baby,” Debbie whispered, chewing at her lip. “Good luck with that music video. And everything else after. I know there’ll be a lot on the horizon for you.”
“It won’t mean anything,” Lou hissed, but her voice sounded more sad than cold and it would keep sounding more heartbroken every time debbie replayed the words in her head as she folded each box, packed it, and taped it shut. Just the way she’d put Lou in a box, packed it with lies to push her away, and taped it shut with a final verbal slap. Because that’s what Debbie did. Debbie ran.

yes, please to part 2 and 3 of the Notting Hill AU 😍
Part two is here, but here comes part three!!
Debbie slid her bra strap beneath her dress and smoothed the skirt before taking a long, deep breath. She couldn’t believe this was really happening.
The brunette took a last look in the mirror, trying and failing to steady herself as a knock on the door brought her rushing down the stairs to the entry way in a flurry.
She opened the door, too excited and nervous to stay still, her face lighting up as her eyes found Lou’s immediately.
“I wasn’t sure if I should bring something,” Lou spoke softly, holding up a bottle of champagne in one hand and a small gift-wrapped box in the other.
“That better be for Danny and not for me,” Debbie grinned.
“Of course,” Lou smiled. “I may lead a bizarre life, but I do remember how birthday parties work.”
They shared an easy laugh as Debbie waved the blonde into the apartment.
“We have some time to sit and relax first if you want,” Debbie offered, motioning to the couch where she’d first patched up Lou. It was hard to fathom that a moment like that was real, let alone the fact that it had spiraled into the chance to have Lou as her date for Danny’s party.
“So,” Lou smirked, sitting down. “Am I dressed alright?”
Debbie’s eyes moved slowly over Lou taking in her burgundy suit and tie, smiling at the fact that it matched Debbie’s black and crimson dress almost perfectly without planning.
“You’ll do,” Debbie whispered, sitting beside her.
Lou winked at her before putting the box and bottle down on the coffee table.
“I really do want to apologize for yesterday,” Lou sighed. “I should have been more clear with my team. I wanted a moment for us to be alone. Sort some things out.”
“What things?” Debbie asked, trying to play coy.
Lou shoved her playfully. “Kissing you sort of things.”
“I think I remember something like that happening,” Debbie shrugged. “Might need a refresher though,” she smirked.
“I see you only get bolder with time,” Lou laughed. “That’s refreshing.”
Debbie shrugged. “Besides being a terrible fake journalist, I really didn’t mind,” Debbie admitted. “It was still good to see you. I like seeing you in your element. It’s different, yeah. But it’s like there’s two halves of you and it’s Bice to be able to meet both of them.”
“Interesting way of seeing it,” Lou hummed. “But now you get to see the side that’s just Lou and not Lou Miller.”
“Exactly,” Debbie nodded. “The question is: which one of you kissed me?”
The blonde blushed at the question, seeming to squirm a bit in her seat.
“Who do you want to kiss you right now?” Lou whispered, her eyes finding Debbie’s almost nervously.
“The real you,” Debbie breathed, leaning forward as Lou’s hands found her face and Debbie’s her shoulders. Their lips met soft and slow once more, finding each other without hesitation but still with trepidation. Sweet. Simple. Debbie pulled back with a small smile. But then Lou’s hands moved and she was pulling Debbie in by the neck, finding her again with hungry lips that pulled and bit at Debbie’s, the brunette’s tongue giving in as she tried to bite back until the two pulled away panting and chuckling, trying to collect their breaths together.
“Do we have to go tonight?” Debbie sighed, playing with Lou’s tie gently.
“Yes,” Lou sighed. “But I’m excited to see more of Debbie Ocean and the other people in your life. Come on, we’ll find a way for some fun later.” She wiggled her eyebrows before they both broke into another fit of laughter. “Tell me what I need to know for tonight. A crash course, if you will.”
Debbie took a deep breath, suddenly unsure. Maybe bringing Lou along tonight wasn’t such a good idea. First, there was the matter that Lou was famous, of course. But second, there was also the matter that Danny was somewhat…infamous.
“You can tell me,” Lou whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind Debbie’s ear.
“You see, there’s this thing about Danny you need to know, but I don’t know if you’ll like it.”
“Try me,” Lou breathed, edging closer to Debbie. Her hand found the brunette’s thigh and she squeezed it for a moment, offering silent support, waiting patiently.
“When it comes to jobs, my brother doesn’t really have a traditional one,” Debbie started, smiling awkwardly. “I wouldn’t even know what to label it. Odd jobs here and there, but they’re not exactly…legal.”
“So, he’s a con man,” Lou nodded. “That’s exciting.”
Debbie’s heart fluttered for a moment with hope again, replacing the fear that had hung on a cliff for the last few moments.
“He does a lot of work in Vegas…and other casinos, banks and the like,” Debbie sighed. “And for what may be a dealbreaker, I used to do it too. Until I found my footing, really. I’ll do some small stuff here and there now, but I used to…work for him…”
“Say no more,” Lou spoke, but she wasn’t angry or hurt, she was smiling. “You think I don’t get it? I used to sing on the street for pennies and candy wrappers. I’m no stranger to the con myself. Wasn’t always successful. Don’t even know if I’d call ie success now.”
Debbie’s hand found Lou’s on the couch and Lou squeezed it tight.
“I really like you,” Debbie whispered.
“I really like you too,” Lou laughed. “But if anyone is going to scare the other away, I think it’s going to be me.”
Debbie frowned. ‘Why would you say that?”
“I always fuck things up with the people who mean the most to me,” Lou mumbled.
“You don’t even know me,” Debbie sighed. “I could still scare you away.”
“I doubt that,” Lou hummed. “I’m way too smitten.”
Debbie blushed. “We should be going. Tess will have our heads if we’re late.”
“Tess is Danny’s…”
“Wife,” Debbie nodded. She made to stand, offering Lou her hand.
“Deb,” Lou spoke quietly, Debbie glowing at the shortened use of her name automatically as the blonde stood, taking her hand. “Does your family know that you’re…I mean shit, I never even asked if…”
“That I own a bookshop?” Debbie smirked.
The blonde rolled her eyes, knocking her hips against Debbie’s as Debbie grabbed Lou’s presents on the table and a gift bag of her own.
“They know I’m gay, if that’s what you’re asking,” Debbie smiled. “They’ll just be surprised I have a date. I don’t really bring anyone by…and then well, I’m sure the whole rockstar thing would be more of a shock than anything.”
“I’m hardly a rockstar,” Lou grimaced.
Debbie let out a scoff, before her finger found Lou’s neck as she dragged it down slowly, breathing against Lou’s ear. “And I would hope the way I kissed you back would confirm that I am very much attracted to you, Lou.”
“I’ve got plenty of other ideas on how to confirm those suspicions,” Lou whispered back before licking down Debbie’s neck to her clavicle, making the brunette shiver. “But look at the time, we best be going.”
Danny’s birthday dinner put Debbie into something just short of a trance, having the chance to sit back and watch Lou in a dream state of sorts. Her jokes and comebacks and conversation were smooth as silk, her voice dripping like honey. Danny revealed secrets about Debbie that had Tess and Lou laughing together, all soprano and bass.
Debbie knew that Danny kept catching her smiling and blushing at Lou and that he’d tease the shit out of her later, but she didn’t even care. Lou fell into conversation with their friends Rose and Tammy with perfect ease like she’d known them for years, and even navigated Tammy’s jerk of a boyfriend who asked why the hell she’d risk a career like music when it was so unsure and paid musicians so shoddily with a quiet shrug and a mumble that “yeah, being worth 28 million dollars seems a bit skimpy, but it’s enough to keep my guitar properly tuned” making Debbie snort.
The brunette hadn’t been scared because Lou was nothing short of a celebrity, but Lou acted nothing like it. It was like she really was amongst family and friends. In fact, she was family. To them all, already, it seemed. Debbie had been partially embarrassed to introduce her small life linked with money issues and petty theft and secrets to Lou, but Lou’s eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning and Debbie wondered if her heart flipped like her own did every time they locked eyes and shared a secretive smile or laugh or wink.
Soon enough, they had said their goodbyes and had the rest of the night to themselves as they walked down the cobblestone streets, Lou using one hand to guide Debbie’s back and the other in Debbie’s other hand, clutching it tight.
“I’m sorry about Tammy,” Debbie laughed. “I didn’t know she was such a big fan.”
Lou shrugged with a smile. “She was nice about it. And she didn’t faint. I’ve witnessed a lot worse. Tammy’s really sweet. And I really like Tess.”
“Definitely a good one.”
“They’re all great, Debs,” Lou grinned. “I mean it. They’re a good lot. And they’re lucky to have you.”
“I’m alright,” Debbie laughed. “I’m glad they got a night with a star.”
Lou stopped in her tracks and Debbie panicked, thinking she had said something wrong.
“When will you stop and see yourself the way I see you?” Lou asked softly, stroking Debbie’s face. Her eyes flicked around for a moment, taking in the few people around them. “Is there…somewhere we can go? I’m not done with you tonight but the paparazzi…”
Lou seemed mad at herself for ruining her own moment so Debbie acted hastily, motioning to a park.
“There’s a park just there,” Debbie spoke. “But it’s a private one so I’m afraid.”
“Come on, then,” the blonde grinned. “We only live once. What’s life without a little risk?”
Debbie watched in shock as Lou’s heeled boot found the fence, hoisting herself up as she swung her other leg over to the other side before scaling back down.
“Let’s go, Ocean!” She laughed, sticking her hand through the steel of the gate for Debbie to grab.
“Don’t look at my ass, Miller,” Debbie hissed, starting to climb.
“No promises,” Lou giggled, helping Debbie over to the other side as she guided her down by the hips, settling Debbie in front of her.
They walked a few paces until they were hidden by bushes and trees, only a few street lamps lighting them as they stood face to face.
“When can I see you again?” Lou whispered.
“Right now,” Debbie laughed. “Tomorrow. The next day. And the next. When do you want me?”
“I want to take you to dinner,” Lou smiled. “Let me spoil you.”
“I want to make love to you,” Debbie whispered, surprising herself as the thought tumbled from her tongue.
Debbie heard the shaky breath that Lou exhaled and felt the urge to kiss it off her lips.
“I want that too,” Lou whispered, wrapping Debbie in an embrace, holding her tight. “Is it too presumptuous to just spend the weekend together and see where it takes us?”
Debbie looked up at her in quiet awe. “You can do that?”
“If it’s what you’d like to do, then I’d like nothing more,” Lou murmured. “I’ll see to it.”
“I’d love it,” Debbie whispered. “Fuck, it would be a dream.”
Lou chuckled against her, kissing her softly.
“Will you dance with me?”
“There’s no music,” Debbie pointed out, frowning in confusion.
“I think I can take care of that,” Lou whispered, pulling Debbie’s head down against her shoulder as she took her hands and placed them around her shoulders, her own finding Debbie’s waist as she started to sing softly, swaying them softly as she led them around the park in a winding circle, Debbie humming along quietly against her.
“That’s definitely a Lou Miller original, but I don’t know this one,” Debbie admitted quietly. “To be honest, I only know a few of your songs and thought it would be pretty creepy of me to go learn your whole repertoire.”
“You can do whatever you like,” Lou chuckled. “Listen to all of it. None of it. But you wouldn’t know this one. Limited release.”
“For like VIPs or a special edition thing?” Debbie asked, her nose wrinkling.
“For Debbie Ocean, party of one,” Lou whispered. “I wrote it the night I first kissed you.”

As requested: Another place to find the Notting Hill AU, friends 🥰
by BlackAcre13
She was tall. Taller than Debbie even. Her platform boots clicked against the creaking splintered wooden floor, long legs hidden within tight black leather pants. An ink bottle green velvet blazer, purple crushed velvet vest peeking out. So many gold chains that Debbie couldn’t count them all if she tried. She couldn’t help looking at the blonde’s long ring-laden fingers, short black nails reaching out for a book on one of the shelves. Debbie gasped quietly to herself. Was it at all possible that this was Lou Miller?
Lou Miller, who had broken out of the indie music of the shadows and entered the rock scene after a volatile breakup with her folk singer former girlfriend? Who currently had not one, but three songs that had just gone platinum. Constantly in the news for her new sound and style, like no other, full of fury and rage and a battle between heartbreaker and heartbroken. And Debbie was pretty sure that now, the famous hands of Lou Miller that were usually wrapped around an electric guitar or gripping a microphone were gently pressing through Debbie’s book collection, a careful index finger dragging along the shelves as she read titles calmly but efficiently.

i love the way you write debbie and danny’s relationship! could you write more loubbie and tess x danny (do they have a ship name lol) hanging out? maybe something about tess and lou’s flirtiness again
“I can’t believe I finally get to meet her!” Tess squealed, clapping her hands together as she turned to Danny, giving him an excited grin.
“Just don’t do anything embarrassing,” Debbie sighed from the backseat. “I’m talking about you, Danny.” Debbie clarified, glaring at him in the rearview mirror as he rolled his eyes before looking back at the road.
“So, how long have you two been together?” Tess beamed, turning around to grin at Debbie.
“Just hit six months,” Debbie smiled, her heart fluttering at the thought. Though she hadn’t said it to anyone out loud, out of fear of being shot down or laughed at, Debbie knew this was the person she was going to marry. She’d known since day one.
“I thought it was longer than that,” Tess mused, looking thoughtful.
“Well, they’ve been partners for a few years,” Danny smirked. “But it took Deb just as long to get her head out of her ass and fess up how she felt.”
“Hey!” Debbie exclaimed. “Lou was no better than I was.”
“I’ll give you that,” Danny chuckled. “They really are two peas in a pod. Stubborn as hell. Idiots.”
“Takes a stubborn idiot to know a stubborn idiot,” Debbie hissed, sticking out her tongue.
“Real mature, Deb.”
“Shh, shh. Save the sibling banter. This is her place, right?” Tess asked excitedly, rolling down the window so she could wave as a shock of blonde hair came into view, Debbie’s nerves settling immediately at the sight, already ready to be wrapped up in Lou, so Danny’s teasing and nagging could die down and fade into the background while Lou distracted her and kept her calm.
Lou saluted the car as she walked forward, Debbie bouncing in her seat.
“Deb, you didnt tell me how gorgeous she is!” Tess breathed.
Debbie couldn’t hide the sour expression that flashed over her face, reminding herself that everyone was drawn to and amazed by Lou, and that there were only more compliments ahead on the road, and that it didn’t mean anything, because it wasn’t coming from Lou.
“Hey, honey,” Lou breathed, swinging open the backdoor as she slid into the seat, kissing Debbie softly on the lips as the brunette hummed before Lou pulled away. “Danny,” Lou nodded. “And you must be the beautiful, Tess.”
“Yes,” Tess giggled before turning back to Debbie. “She’s quite the charmer, isn’t she?” Tess winked.
“So where we headed?” Lou asked, wrapping her arm around Debbie’s shoulder so the brunette could cuddle up against her.
“Figured the usual arcade and pizza,” Danny grinned, looking back at Lou in the mirror. “If I recall correctly, someone owes me an air hockey rematch. Can’t stay a victor forever, Miller.”
Lou scoffed. “Shows how little you know, Ocean.”
“They always like this?” Tess asked over her other shoulder quietly.
“You don’t know the half of it,” Debbie scowled, but she not-so-secretly loved the sibling rivalry Lou and Danny had. Pool rematches and beer chugging contests were definitely more fun than the rivalry she and Danny shared, fighting for their father’s attention.
“Why don’t you guys get started on your re-match?” Tess offered, once they were inside. “Deb and I will grab us some food and then we can all eat before we get to really playing.”
“You’re on, Miller,” Danny declared, smacking his hands together. Tess gave him a quick peck to the cheek as Debbie clung to Lou as the blonde chuckled.
“Don’t worry, honey,” Lou whispered. “It’ll only take me a few minutes to whoop Danny’s ass and then I’ll be right next to you.” She kissed the brunette and squeezed her ass before following Danny around the corner.
“So, what do I get to know about her?” Tess asked as the two women waited in line.
“She’s pretty much an open book,” Debbie shrugged. “She’ll tell you whatever you want to know if you ask.”
“No, Debs,” Tess sighed. “I mean, when it comes to the two of you. How’d it happen? And not Danny’s warped, ignorant man version of it.”
Debbie liked Tess. She really did. And so she offered her something that she rarely offered to anyone: the truth. How they’d been friends and partners first, flirting innocently enough. The tough realization that she had feelings for Lou, but didn’t want to ruin their trust or partnership. Finally cracking out of jealousy and heartbreak. Realizing that Lou felt the same. And then taking that leap.
And here she was, leaping again. Letting Tess into her world of Lou. Letting Lou into her world of Tess. She smiled to herself, proud and excited. This is what it would be like once Danny proposed to Tess with the ring he’d done a horrible job of hiding in Debbie’s apartment, and one day when she settled down with Lou. This was going to be her sister. Lou was going to be her wife.
“Helloooooo,” Lou teased. “Earth to Deborah Ocean. Is there an impending apocalypse I should know about? You haven’t touched a single slice of pizza. Don’t you usually require a minimum of three?”
“Yeah, sorry,” Debbie laughed quietly, taking the slice that Lou offered her as the blonde frowned at her with concern, sliding a water towards the brunette.
“Something on your mind, love?” Lou whispered, her hand finding Debbie’s thigh as she traced circles in her jeans. “You alright?”
“Better than ever, actually,” Debbie smiled. “I can’t remember the last time I was this happy.”
“It suits you,” Lou grinned, squeezing her leg as she winked.
