Ankama really did say "I believe in Tall Girl x Short Boy Supremacy" and, as a matter of fact, they execute it flawlessly.

I suppose in their long careers as adventurers, Lou and Kerub could have been artists/singers. Why not?

Everything we know about what happened to Khan, Bakara, and Lilotte after the movie
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that the second Dofus movie has not been made (and, from the way things are looking, might never be made at all) we know quite a bit about what happened to its characters afterward — the reason for that is simple: they're referenced in the games!
In this post, I will try to compile everything we know for the ease of access — but I implore you, instead of using my abridged compilation, just watch my video archive instead, if you're really interested in these characters! The posts I make on the MMOs are entirely recapping everything I already went over in my videos.
BAKARA JURGEN
Tumblr media
The Dofus MMO takes place approximately 200–300 years after the events of the movie, and 70–90 years after a genocide against Huppermages has been enacted by Bonta, which forced their people to go into hiding. (you can read more about this in my posts about the Dofus MMO!)
Despite such a long time having passed, one can still find people who look up to her in the world — including Kerubim Crepin, who reminisces on having known her, her brother, and her sister-in-law, before all of them were gone...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There isn't a lot of that is known about her life (or her involvement with Khan, and whether they ever became a couple...) but what we do know is that she grew to be a very well-respected leader and role model among huppermages, and lived a long, fruitful life.
And also that, just like literally everyone in the cast of the movie, she either lied her ass off about everything that happened in it, or the legends have distorted the truth badly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the time of Dofus MMO, Jahash and Julith are both viewed as icons and role models by the Huppermage community. It is quite likely that, at least in part, this is the case due to Bakara's (and then Agata, her heir/apprentice/daughter-figure's) efforts to not let their memory be forgotten.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Agata never discusses Bakara in her dialogues pertaining to Bonta's genocide of Huppermages, and when coupled with Kerubim saying that Bakara is "just a part of the history now" during his own dialogue on the topic, there is a heavy implication that Bakara did not live long enough to see this tragedy — and that her passing is not a fresh wound.
LILOTTE DELAGRANDVENTURE
Tumblr media
There is even less known about her fate, but some things are pretty obvious: she had a family of her own — and she is still venerated as a great ancestor even six centuries later, by her great-great-great grandchildren.
You can find a descendant of hers in the Wakfu MMO, as a political leader in a tradition-obiding ouginak tribe, which is a very long cry from the way Lilotte and Indie led their lives as city-dwelling ouginaks.
For context, there is a bit of a... conflict, between these two lifestyles, which makes this development quite interesting:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like this dialogue just speaks for itself, when it comes to the way people like Indie, Lou, and Lilotte are viewed by Ouginaks at large...
Considering the history of oppression that Ouginaks have, it is quite understandable why a lot of them want to live in an independent community of their own people — instead of molding themselves to fit the norms set by the followers of the Twelve gods; and why they may look down on their fellow Ouginaks who do not share this sentiment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilotte's bell is a known relic, and her legend is still known — albeit with major alterations, which are most likely the result of six centuries having passed.
Tumblr media
:)
KHAN KARKASS
Tumblr media
I have saved all content regarding him for last, because he is the one we know the most about — from the plans to include him in Welsh & Shedar, to his inclusion in the Wakfu MMO.
Tumblr media
He is buried next to the stadium, with his Gobbowl cup — the greatest achievement of his life... despite him having years of life after it, as an adventurer. A bit sad, isn't it?
Here's what he says about his life:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's him getting Joris's age wrong, lmao:
Tumblr media
I debated including what we know about him in Welsh & Shedar in this post... but it's a bit of a beaten horse, by now, so I will just give the simple rundown:
Tumblr media
In Welsh & Shedar, Khan and Joris seem to be pretty close, reportedly having adventured together after Khan's knee injury. Khan can be seen spending time together with Joris even in the trailer.
Tumblr media
It is easy to assume that by this point, that with Joris being 60-years-old, most other mortal loved ones of Joris's have either passed away, or had their own lives to deal with, not having much time to spend together, which is pretty sad.
Considering the fact that instead of spending his time with Bakara, he is seen alone as an old man, it might be possible that she passed away before him or that their romance did not work out.
Tumblr media
Another reason to believe their romance may not have worked out is the fact that neither Bakara's, nor Khan's fans, mention them being an item.
Tumblr media
He also had the stories about him morph... but somehow, I really doubt that it wasn't his own damn fault.

The Crepin-Lore Manifesto.
Part 2: The Art of Being Lonely
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[PART 1]
The story, or at least the part of it we do know, begins a long time ago - somewhere in Amakna, the capital of cuisine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[The Temple of Ecaflip in Aux trésors de Kerubim / The Temple of Ecaflip in Dofus MMO, Amakna]
...But not yet the Ecaflip orphan temple itself. Those pictures are just me stating why the story's in Amakna. Anyway.
Somewhere, in a place we do not know, but close enough that fate would eventually bring the two to the temple, there was a family.
To be precise - a mother, a father, and their daughters and sons, as said by Kerubim himself, which I'll show in a little bit.
...Perhaps, only the mother knew that two of the children weren't her husband's - or maybe she married shortly after having them, and then had more children-
Tumblr media
But, the timeline for that is quite tight.
...At the time of the show, Joris is 7 years old.
Tumblr media
A tangent on the relationship between Kerubim, Joris, and the concepts of fatherhood and childhood trauma.
In the show, Kerubim never really says the quiet part of his backstory out loud. Obviously. Joris is just a child, and shouldn't have to know that.
Kerubim's goal was that Joris wouldn't have to know what it's like, or even think about it. He had to have a normal, happy childhood.
Tumblr media
...Or as happy and normal as someone like himself could give.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though his home was not fit for it, and his own age and issues with mental health were a roadblock, Kerubim decided to take him in.
...A part of it is, probably, because Kerubim is a bit selfish. He wants someone who will adore him, and stay by his side.
Even if he knows, very consciously, that it might not be the best thing for Joris.
Tumblr media
But there are other motivations , for how attached he was to the idea of adopting Joris, no matter how unprepared or lousy he would be as a father.
The thought that nobody else would understand the way Joris would feel the way he does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The trauma of what happened during his childhood echoes in his mind to the point that even during amnesia, it still affects him.
Tumblr media
Whether he became a hero to impress girls or not, he feels an innate compassion and need to help orphans.
It's his first thought, the go-to example, because he truly knows what it feels like, to be alone, helpless, and without a family.
Tumblr media
And as far as he knew before the movie, he made Joris into an orphan with his two hands.
That has to be an awful feeling.
Tumblr media
...He never did allow Joris to call him dad, growing up, did he? It's always been grampy-cat. Though everyone knows that he's his father.
Perhaps it felt like too much.
Or maybe he never really reconciled with the fact that Joris really loved him, not just because he raised him. Perhaps he expected him to be mad, when he found out what happened with Jahash and Julith, and that Kerubim has hidden it from him for all this time.
Or he expected him to like Jahash more.
Tumblr media
The childhood at the temple of ecaflip wasn't the happiest, wasn't it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Obviously he wasn't taking what happened well, early on.
Obviously it made him vulnerable.
Around that time, Kerubim was given the highest honor, of transporting God Ecaflip's food, for being the best disciple of the temple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And evidently, at that time, God Ecaflip... uh... cared about him as much as he cared bout the other orphans and demigods.
It's unknown how much time passed between this, and the confirmation ceremony.
But I'm sure, God Ecaflip pushed them apart even more.
Tumblr media
Guilt, pain, and unreliable narrators.
Have you noticed one really, really funny thing about the show?
Tumblr media
Atcham doesn't appear even once in Kerubim's narration, until the second to last episode.
Tumblr media
For all the turmoil Kerubim seems to feel, Atcham feels like a secret he kept, up until he felt vulnerable enough to finally share some experiences with Joris.
Atcham's presence is like a blotted out shape he carefully doesn't mention.
It's obvious that almost being killed by Atcham is a reoccurring thing, as much as chasing Lou is, as much as rivalry with Indie is. But it's not present.
So why?
Tumblr media
Perhaps, it's because Kerubim doesn't like talking about things that he knows were wrong of him to do. Because he doesn't want Joris to think any lesser of him.
Tumblr media
Because he is ashamed. Or, maybe, because he feels bad about the way their relationship turned out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The picture of what happened, or how Kerubim even felt about Atcham is a bit hazy.
Tumblr media
Because it seems, that as much as Atcham hates Kerubim, and Kerubim hates himself, they feel those things for completely different reasons.

Dofus the movie

Dofus the movie movie#
As fans complained, Ruel doesn't do much anymore but they don't seem to have the heart to oust him or make an effort to write him doing stuff. Yeah, Ankama is really weird with the group. Perhaps that's why Ankama's comics that aren't centered on the BoT are the more interesting ones (IMO) they give us a chance to meet new people, see the WoT from a new perspective, instead of just going through "BoT adventure #65" knowing that ultimately the characters will come out of it unchanged. It put a lot more focus on personal growth and you were always learning a bit more about him and the people who mattered in his life, organically. But most of that happened by the Rubilaxia arc and now things are fairly static other than Adamai turning coats and Amalia growing into her responsibilities.ĭofus, on the other hand, showed us Kerub's evolution throughout several periods of his life, as well as his relationships with a few important side characters (Lou, Indie, Squale, Luis, his old crew.). Ruel learned to value his friends above personal gain. Tristepin got the girl and made peace with Rubilax. I think another important difference between Dofus and Wakfu is that the group dynamics in Wakfu don't evolve nearly as much. Even Wakfu had a pretty good variety of stories in its villain-of-the-week segments, it's just that they overstayed their welcome. Bravo, really congratulations to all.I don't know how many writers they had, but it's true I was surprised how they managed to make about 50 episodes with always different themes and characters (minus a few repetitions like the "aventuriers de chacharme" episodes with Lou). I know nothing about cinema, but I imagine the colossal work to be able to compete without blushing with the largest US productions, even though it is a first try, built with the means and resources of an SME. Congratulations to the Ankama teams which delivered such a great work. Dense, panting, unrestrained, vibrant, and always "in tune", this is what comes to mind. I finally do not remember a film having made me laugh as often while pulling me tears from the eyes.
Dofus the movie movie#
and I still think of the movie smiling 24 hours later. one element popped-up in my dreams at night. After 24 hours, I realized that my wife and I laughed several times in the train back home while remembering the movie. But I still continue, just for the pleasure. Judge also because all that is embodied in a universe, characters and action which follow the codes of Japanese animation, which also built me. Judge by emotional affiliation with Ankama, making that many references, ways of seeing the world, provocations and mockeries of the movie, are familiar to me for having accompanied years of my life - I understand them, I enjoy them, they make me smile, laugh, vibrate or cry. Impartiality is not easy when you are judge and jury. I don't understand french, but I'll never trade it for another language, let the subtitles guide me through your lines, I love your choice of voices and how much effort they put. Voice-acting, needless to say, top-notch. Once again, a villain well-developed with unpredictable plot twists, emotional attachment and quite a perfect ending. You managed to keep it both lighthearted but also deep. As for storytelling, well, congratulations, Ankama, I put you in the same level as Avatar, Dreamworks and Disney. I can't pick my favorite, but they were all amazing. The scenarios were wonderful, and the fights, oh dear me, the fights. From the flash animation they use in Wakfu to what seems to be traditional animation. So when I started this movie, first thing I noticed was the gorgeous animation. And of course, I became immediately hooked. Already acquainted with Ankama's two biggest products, the Wakfu game and cartoon, I was surprised I let this movie pass, or maybe not, it's barely a month since I started the game/anime. Rarely a movie makes me scream "DAMN! WHAT A MOVIE!" And this one, needless to say, made me scream it more than once.
