Lorenzo di Bonaventura desperately claiming every Transformers movie after The Last Knight is canon to the Bay movies
(Bumblebee shows him and the other differently-designed Autobots first arriving on Earth in the 80s)
Lorenzo: It's just a little G1-esque, it's still good, it's still good!
(Transformers: Rise of the Beasts shows Unicron invading Earth in the 90s rather than being the Earth itself)
Lorenzo: It's just a little retconned, it's still good, it's still good!
(Transformers One takes place on a different-looking Cybertron with entirely new actors and character designs)
Lorenzo: It's just a little animated, it's still good, it's still good!
Fans: It's rebooted.
Lorenzo: I know.

Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to stepping into legendary roles. From wielding Mjolnir as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to navigating the wasteland in the Mad Max franchise, he’s consistently proven his ability to embody beloved characters. Now, Hemsworth adds another iconic name to his roster: Optimus Prime, in the highly-anticipated animated film, Transformers: One.
Even with his extensive experience, Hemsworth admits to initial nerves when Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura offered him the role. Optimus Prime, voiced for decades by the legendary Peter Cullen, is a character deeply ingrained in pop culture. However, upon learning that Transformers: One is a prequel exploring Optimus’s younger years, Hemsworth saw an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to the Autobot leader.
Transformers: One opens in theaters September 20th.

This man enrages me every time a new Transformers movie comes out that isn’t made by Micheal Bay, he NEEDS to learn that not every movie has to connect back to the bayverse.
He’s recently made a claim that Transformers One is a prequel to the Micheal Bay films, which it isn’t
First off the whole of Cybertron looks nothing like it does in the bay films. In One it looks like a planet you can actually live in, also there is a whole surface area which doesn’t exist in the Micheal Bay films.
What could be the Quintessons in Age Of Extinction once again look completely different.
Sentinel Prime, Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, especially Elita look different
You’re telling me these is the same character
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also in the Bayverse comics Elita, Optimus, and Megatron are said to be followers of Sentinels teachings. Doesn’t look like sentinel’s gonna teach much in One getting tied up by the Quintesson.
It’s the same thing with Rise of the Beast Lorenzo claimed it was a part of the Bayverse continuity even though there were glaring continuity errors. The biggest one being the planet eater Unicron. In The Last Knight Unicron is the earth in Rise of the Beasts his floating somewhere is space eating planets.

Feeling confident about Transformers One? Don’t worry! Madame Web producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Hasbro did an interview with Variety that will have some begging for One to bomb so Hasbro can fleeing the sinking ship that is Paramount, and for Hasbro to maybe just let Robert Kirkman run things story-wise. Some quotes -
This is the first animated Transformers movie in 40 years. What challenges did you face in getting it made?
Di Bonaventura: What’s so surprising about the ’86 film is how dark it is. Honestly, I don’t understand why people love it so much. For some, maybe it was their first cinematic experience, but it’s really a downer movie. Interestingly, when we showed our trailer for the first time, the fans’ reaction was to compare our movie to that one. But they’re so not comparable because that’s so dark, and this has so much humanity. They’re completely different movies in many ways.
You produced Madame Web. Stop talking.
And what does this film signify for Hasbro?
Foreman: For Hasbro Entertainment and the new iteration of our company, we are more likely to be more closely involved in the creative than we have been in the past with our brands. We’re in it for the long-term health of these things, the beautiful, emotional, nostalgic attachment that people have to these evergreen properties like Transformers. We want to make sure we protect them in every way possible. In the past, the company has been okay with dropping these pieces of IP off with other people, and I think the approach is different now. I’m hoping with movies like ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ and this one, people see the quality has a little bit to do with our involvement.
Translation - We are going to be much harder on ensuring nothing escapes our vision of what is evergreen.

Spoilers for upcoming Transformers animation film beneath
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
"I could tell you really important parts of this story, which is more than a tease. This is something we were trying to do; we debated a lot about it in live action, and it just was financially impossible to do, which is, the origin story of young Megatron and young Optimus. If you know the origin, they started as friends, and over time things devolved for them and they ended up on two sides. So we're telling the young Optimus and the young Megatron story. We really are telling the origin story of all Transformers, both what they were at the beginning of it, to how they grow, to how they grow apart."
"We’re hoping that there is enough emotional construct to that, that would lead to a trilogy of it because, personally, I think there's a natural trilogy. I'm not always looking to do multiple movies, but there's a natural trilogy around their relationship. So, you're going to see Cybertron in a way you've never seen it, that no one's ever seen it before. Because we're doing an animation, we're allowed to really go all out. If you tried to make this live-action, it would probably be a billion-dollar movie or something."
"You're going to see a lot of the origins of the society, and what broke it apart. The analogy for me is a bit like Krypton when you saw the planet falling apart, and all that. We're not there for a short time, we're there the entire time of the movie, we're on Cybertron, but we are in the challenge that, if you know the lore, they begin to question the hierarchy of how their society has gotten stratified, and how the common man doesn't have the voice, entirely, that they want to have. We're following very true to the origin story of it, and so it's really fun, too, because I've gotten to see some of it – it's not fully executed by any stretch of the imagination, but hearing Optimus and Megatron not as who we know them as, which we see their maturation in this experience. So, in a sense, you're hearing a different character because you're hearing them before they have matured."
"It's not a coming-of-age story. I don't think you’d believe that, in a way, but I would say they're young men who are finding their path. Like I said, it's more than a tease, that's what the story is, and that's the experience you're going to go through. And how they question society, just like all of us, too, could question our society. We’re maybe not as strong as Megatron and Optimus, so maybe we wouldn't make the same choices, but I think it's really going to be an eye-opener for the fans. For the non-fans, you're going to get to meet the characters in their early formation."
"I would say this, we don't spend a lot of time thinking about two and three because it's always hard to do one well. But there is a natural trilogy coming out of this friendship where you can see the divisions and the possible attractions to each other, and why that should play out over three movies, is very natural. So we have a good sense in the broadest terms, but in the broadest terms, we know what the second movie would be about and the third movie would be about through the eyes of what this relationship's going through. So the exact plotting, we haven't worked on that, but how that relationship evolves, devolves, evolves, devolves, all that stuff, that's what's going to drive it if we get lucky, if the first one's a success."

✨ Charlie Cox as Tristan Thorn ✨
“For the pivotal role of Tristan Thorn, Matthew Vaughan cast the relatively unknown young British actor Charlie Cox after auditioning him several times.
Born in London in 1982, Cox had previously appeared in The Merchant of Venice (2004), Casanova (2005), and the BBC remake of A for Andromeda (2006).
“Tristan is a character who has to go from a nerd to a swashbuckling hero,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explains. “He has to travel a long way as a character.”
“This is Charlie Cox’s first starring role,” reveals Neil Gaiman. “He just came in and nailed it on the audition. Once we had seen him, there really wasn’t any doubt in our minds. He was so obviously right for the role. There were lots of young men who could come in and play gormless and awkward, and there were others who could be wonderfully cool heroes. But there was nobody else who could go from one part to the other as convincingly. You really believe in the progression of his character throughout Tristan’s adventures.”
“Most actors will audition once or twice, get the part, and then start the character work,” reveals Charlie Cox, “whereas I kind of found it during the audition process, which is really interesting.”
“I think Charlie has such amazing screen presence,” says Jane Goldman. “There’s something so unbelievably genuine and truthful about his performance. He brought an incredible naturalism to what is basically a fantasy film.”
“When we first meet Tristan,” hair and makeup designer Fae Hammond explains, “we see him living in a small Victorian house in a small Victorian village. We had to make him look very ordinary, so I kept his skin tone very pale. Charlie Cox is a handsome guy, so we couldn’t do anything too over-the-top to make him ugly, but we gave him a geeky haircut and a pale complexion with no definition around the eyes, so he just looked a bit gormless.”

While there are no updates on the return of other cast members, #TildaSwinton, who appeared in the original film, has also noted limited information beyond confirmation of the sequel's development.
