Another Transformers One “Rant”

For those who are disappointed in the trailer for the movie coming out in September….

It’s okay not to like it, but it’s not okay to wine and wine about it.

Grow up, shut up and move on. We get enough negativity already with what’s happening in the world right now.

You should be more worried about a possible WORLD WAR HAPPENING! Or your family!

So, put on your big girl/boy pants and go see “The Wild Robot” instead, no one gives a crap if you see “Transformers One” or not!

I ranted about this to my (un)lucky discord moot, and your getting it here now

yk what i wanna see? I wanna see a shockwave, or really just any empurata victim look actually fucking terrifying for once.

Think about it, empurata is supposed to make them socially isolated n shit, like making an "example" out of wrongdoers. I want them to have nasty ass looks, not just look like they have a button for an eye. I want a full on eyeball like they did in prime, I would kill to see designs that actually look creepy. Like, I wanna see a whirl that looks like a mechanical sk!walker is that so much to ask for damnit!! I need to see eldritch horror shockwave, deadass!! and not in the bayverse way, because with bayverse he look normal due to how they all look fucked. I want the main cybertronians to look normal so that the empurata victims look like horrific creatures pulled out of the backrooms.

I WANT NIGHTMARISH EMPURATA VICTIMS, MAKE THEM FUCKING CREATURES OF THE DARKNESS. I WANNA PISS MY PANTS WHEN I SEE ONE. I NEED TO FEEL TRUE HORROR UPON SEEING ONE. THE DESIGNS NEED TO MAKE ME WANT TO PURGE!!

Like I said, empurata is meant to make the victim socially isolated. Nobody will care if it just makes them have crappy vision and look like little cats with the black bucket and goofy claws. I need them to look so terrifyingly disgusting that you pull away in utter disgust/fear

This man enrages me every time a new Transformers movie comes out that isn’t made by Micheal Bay, he NEEDS to learn that not every movie has to connect back to the bayverse.

He’s recently made a claim that Transformers One is a prequel to the Micheal Bay films, which it isn’t

First off the whole of Cybertron looks nothing like it does in the bay films. In One it looks like a planet you can actually live in, also there is a whole surface area which doesn’t exist in the Micheal Bay films.

What could be the Quintessons in Age Of Extinction once again look completely different.

Sentinel Prime, Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, especially Elita look different

Also in the Bayverse comics Elita, Optimus, and Megatron are said to be followers of Sentinels teachings. Doesn’t look like sentinel’s gonna teach much in One getting tied up by the Quintesson.

It’s the same thing with Rise of the Beast Lorenzo claimed it was a part of the Bayverse continuity even though there were glaring continuity errors. The biggest one being the planet eater Unicron. In The Last Knight Unicron is the earth in Rise of the Beasts his floating somewhere is space eating planets.

A transformers rant

I saw a video by emperor kumkwat on YouTube that said that the original 2007 spotlight arcee comic was “transphobic” for the stupidest reason.

emperor kumkwat said that it was “transphobic” because of the fact that arcee had her gender changed against her will. Apparently it was “making transitioning look scary” and “could damage people’s ideas of trans people”.

it was only the fact that it was done to arcee against her will that made it scary. If she wanted it, it would have seemed less scary. Anything can be scary if it is done to you against your will. And I don’t know how that comic would turn people transphobic? Anybody who reads it will probably know not to judge people who want it willingly. The comic isn’t telling people to hate them.

I couldn’t blame Simon furman for hating the female transformers when they first became a thing. The original ones were these 3 identical looking transformers that all acted the same and were much shorter than the male transformers. Female transformers are cool now, but not back in the 80s lol.

so ive started reading the IDW comics bc i wanted to get more into transformers. but see i cant just start in phase 2 with lost light and the wreckers and all that, like i NEED to read phase 1 first even if it’s not actually necessary. just for my own satisfaction yk? now the issue is everyone on my dash keeps talking about lost light and their blorbos and what not and i wanna interact with all of it BUT ITS SO FAR FROM WHERE I AM IN THE SERIES THAT I BARELY EVEN UNDERSTAND ANY OF IT

As someone who has never watched Transformers Victory, allow me to say that IDW’s portrayal of Star Saber suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.  Like I get it, in Victory he was a squeaky clean do gooder, and perfect characters without flaws aren’t as interesting. But tbh, that don’t mean you gotta make him a religious nut.  As much shit as I fling Getaway’s way, at the very least he had some potential for a compelling villian-potential that was wasted, but still. This version of Star Saber had none of that.

My biggest pet peeve in Transformers media and fanfiction sometimes is that Transformers aren't treated as aliens. They are referred to as aliens, they obviously are aliens, but they never feel like they are aliens because they are always written or seen as having all human mannerisms or features usually. Human posture, human noses, human mannerisms, humanoids...

What about TFA's cat noses or TFP's helm noses? One of the reasons I think those two shows have peak designs is because they have this lack of uncanniness to humans design wise. I'm not looking at a human being as a robot, I'm looking at an alien robot, ones that have claws, ones that have different body types that blend with their vehicle modes, ones with horrific mutilations and designs impossible by human standards. I love seeing that type of stuff in Transformers because to me, it makes them feel alien without completely changing the premises of similarities to where we can't compare their culture or likeness to humans. The films (mostly 1 and 2) showed off this as well.

Another thing I really would like to see in Transformers media is non-human interactive qualities. What do I mean by that? One thing I've noticed is aside from techno-organic species, regular Cybertronians do have a few qualities found in animals. Engine humming I believe was once used as a form of purring in the films and in some of the cartoons. Humans can't purr; cats can, and that small detail is always interesting to come across because it's like "wow, they have this feature that shows off a trait found in Cybertronians. That is so cool." You have them with multiple voice boxes for mechanical, natural, and human-like tones which is also an animal trait. Bumblebee is self-explanatory in most universes being able to still make sounds yet not talk. They have sensors across their body that don't act like the basic human receptors. Most animals can do more than just feel through certain points of their bodies. They can taste, smell, or even hear a hundred times better than a human being throughout various body parts, and Transformers have been hinted to have this ability too, especially through their servos. It's stuff like this that expands upon their existence as aliens.

They have extreme durability, their body morphs to extremes and can also double as a moving weapon (most obvious of course), some of them can make ungodly roars and creature-like noises to warn or show their threatening demeanor (Megatron's dinosaur-like growling), some can have two rows of teeth (a flat base in front and fangs hidden behind), and some of them have mimicking animal-like features (Starscream's bird-shaped feet with visible expansion the same as organic foot padding with similar distributive weight physics in a few universes) despite having no beast mode. There's probably more I can't think of on the top of my head in canon, but all those things are not heavily used as they should be to make them feel alien. They can still hold some relation to the humans they interact with, but I think a lot of Transformers are more than just metal "humans", you know?

Depending on the universe in fanfiction and who you encounter who writes it or not, you have several things that are always cool to see. They have to sparkbond (merging of hearts) above everything else to create a sparkling's life force with interface as just the extra for physical coding features. I've seen people use the non-canon heat cycles which are, of course, our fandom way of making a type of breeding euphemism akin to an animal's cycle. You have the common phrasing of nuzzling, heightened senses, armor and certain parts of the helm acting like fur or ears where it raises and flattens per their mood, and some Transformers have limb dissonance where if necessary, they can convert between bipedal and quadrupedal stances (best example is Bulkhead and Lugnut from TFA who have long arms but short legs and they have the bulky structure where they could possibly run like an animal briefly and the physics of it would work).

So, you have all these different things a common Cybertron most likely would be able to do or have but a human couldn't, and it's never utilized to their full potential. I would like to see people address the nature of Cybertronians as alien and not be afraid to make them alien. I think that's the biggest flaw in our franchise is that everyone is scared of making the Transformers not the humanoid "norm" and getting ridiculed for it. Like, they're aliens, you can make them act however animal-like or completely batshit insane as you want them. You can give them powers, animal-based senses, and behaviors hidden among a human thought process. And technically, you wouldn't be wrong to what they could be as a living creature in the universe by doing so. They aren't humans; they look humanoid, but they aren't us. Why should they have to be in every regard?

I’ve been reading too many fics about these two, atp Ik more about them from ao3 than the damn comics. I rlly like the dynamics ppl give the two esp when prowls made out to be more cold/calculated, and Jazz super competent despite acting aloof sometimes

I have some messier doodles of the two, like notes on how I hc doorwings to work with his tac net shit and my hcs of their full designs, but I’ll probably refine those before I post them lol

Can we talk about this Rescue Bots episode (Spellbound) because I need to appreciate how TERRIFYING it is??? Especially considering it's cannon in the Aligned Universe. This is some A+ horror.

And it's SO UNSETTLINGLY subtle, too. The victim's voices sound like their normal selves but just SLIGHTLY off. *shutter* The voice actors did such a good job.

I feel like Optimus would probably be immune (because the Matrix of Leadership is goated) but can you imagine the Jasper Trio getting mind-controlled, and all their guardians + Ratchet know SOMETHING is off, but not what? Then, slowly, the mind control spreads to the Bots? Or vice versa, the Bots go first, and the humans are like: "Something's up with my guardian."

Kinda wild that Invasion of the Body Snatchers shit 100% exists in TFP's world. Felt like I needed to acknowledge that.

Is this gonna be my next TFP headcanons post? Feeling inspired.🤔

I’m devastated that Dinoking is a Con exclusive. Like, no deadass Dinoking’s first toy was in 1989 in the victory line and tv show wanna know how long it’s been since his last toy 35 years.

Now imagine being a fan of this character, and remember it’s a Japanese exclusive character, so most of their possible fans are Japanese.

They can’t get the new figure of a Japan exclusive character because it’s being exclusively sold at an American Con for like a week.

I definitely think we might see a Takara recolor of Dinoking in the same vain as the beast wars figures with more show accurate paint jobs. Please I want him so bad.

i love transformers. i love how there’s so many continuities and storylines within a single franchise. i love the more phological aspects of it. the deception regime formed as a retaliation against a deeply and irrevocably flawed government that was intently racist and classist.

that in and of itself is so beyond intriguing to me and i love when continuities explore that to show how a rebellion grew to be even more oppressive than that which it was rebelling against.
