Finding Reliable Painters in London: A Comprehensive Guide Painters
Tumblr media
Choosing the right painters can significantly impact the outcome when it comes to enhancing the aesthetics of your living or working space in London. Whether you're looking to refresh the interior walls of your home or give your business premises a facelift, professional painters in London offer expertise and quality craftsmanship to achieve your desired look. Here’s everything you need to know about finding reliable painters in this vibrant city.
Why Choose Professional Painters London?
Hiring professional painters in London brings several advantages that go beyond what DIY projects or amateur painters can achieve:
Expertise and Experience
Professional painters in London bring years of experience and expertise to the table. They are skilled in various painting techniques and understand the nuances of different surfaces and materials. This ensures a high-quality finish that enhances the overall appeal of your property.
Quality Assurance
Using professional painters guarantees the use of high-quality materials and paints. They have access to top-notch products that ensure durability and a flawless finish. This quality assurance means your investment in painting services will last longer and maintain its appearance over time.
Time and Cost Efficiency
While it might seem cost-effective to tackle painting projects yourself, the time and effort required can often outweigh the initial savings. Professional painters work efficiently, adhering to timelines and minimizing disruptions to their daily life. Moreover, they can often procure better-quality materials, saving you money in the long run.
Safety and Compliance
Painting can involve working at heights or with hazardous materials. Professional painters are trained in safety protocols and ensure compliance with local regulations. This reduces risks to themselves, your property, and anyone else involved in the project.
How to Find Reliable Painters in London?
Finding trustworthy painters in London involves a systematic approach to ensure you hire professionals who meet your expectations and deliver quality results:
Research and Recommendations
Start your search by researching local painting companies online and seeking recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues who have recently had painting work done. Personal referrals can provide valuable insights into a painter’s reliability and craftsmanship.
Check Credentials
Verify that the painters you are considering are licensed and insured. A legitimate painting company will have the credentials to protect you from liability in case of accidents or damages during the project.
Portfolio and Reviews
Review potential painters' portfolios to gauge their work's quality and determine if their style aligns with your vision. Online reviews and testimonials from past clients offer unbiased feedback on their professionalism and customer satisfaction.
Obtain Detailed Quotes
Contact several painters in London to request detailed quotes for your project. Compare not only the cost but also the scope of work, materials used, and estimated timeline. A transparent quote reflects a painter's professionalism and commitment to delivering as promised.
Communication and Understanding
Effective communication is crucial for a successful painting project. Ensure that the painters understand your requirements and preferences clearly before work begins. Clear expectations from the outset help prevent misunderstandings and ensure satisfaction with the final results.
Types of Painting Services Offered by Painters in London
Professional painters in London offer a wide range of services tailored to meet residential, commercial, and industrial painting needs:

Transform the ambiance of your home with expert interior painting services. From selecting the right colors to preparing surfaces and applying finishes, professional painters ensure a seamless and aesthetically pleasing result.

Choosing the Right Painters London: Factors to Consider
Selecting the right painters in London involves considering several factors to ensure a seamless and satisfactory experience:
Experience and Expertise
Look for painters with extensive experience in the type of painting you require. Experienced professionals are equipped to handle challenges and deliver superior results, whether it's intricate detailing or large-scale projects.
Quality of Materials
Inquire about the materials and paints used by the painters. Premium-quality products contribute to a durable finish and enhance the overall appearance of your property. Ask about eco-friendly options if sustainability is a priority for you.
Customer References
Request references from past clients or ask to see completed projects in person. A reputable painter will gladly provide references to showcase their workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Contract and Warranty
Review the contract terms carefully before signing. Ensure it includes details such as project scope, timelines, payment schedules, and warranties on both workmanship and materials used. A written agreement protects both parties and ensures clarity throughout the project.
Conclusion
Choosing professional painters in London is a strategic investment in the beauty and value of your property. By selecting skilled professionals prioritizing quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, you can achieve exceptional results exceeding your expectations. Whether you're remodeling your home or updating your commercial space, trusted painters in London can transform your vision into reality with precision and expertise.

Scaffolding
Scaffolding is a temporary structure that supports construction workers and allows them to work at height. It is commonly used on skyscrapers and other tall buildings, but it also is important for maintenance work such as painting and cleaning windows. Depending on the type of building, scaffolding may be made from wood or steel. It is generally erected by trained and licensed erectors, who have the necessary knowledge of the building’s construction and safety standards. The scaffolding also must be properly maintained to reduce the risk of falling debris and other hazards.
NEMO GROUP UK LIMITED provides expert scaffolding services for both residential and commercial properties in Greater London. The company is a highly respected property maintenance and repair company with over 4,500 five-star reviews on Trustpilot and offers 24/7 emergency maintenance. Among its services, the company specialises in lock repairs and replacement services, plumbing, gas & heating, electrics, glazing, pest control, and drainage services.
One of the most common causes of scaffolding accidents is poor construction. This can include using unsuitable materials for the job or ignoring construction and safety standards. Additionally, weather can make working at height dangerous. Rain or snow can cause planks to slip, and temperature changes can affect the structural integrity of the scaffolding. Another significant cause of scaffolding accidents is a lack of proper training. Workers must be trained in the specific types of scaffolding they use, and should receive ongoing training to prevent unsafe practices.
Teachers use a teaching technique called scaffolding to help students understand new lessons and concepts. The strategy involves offering lessons in distinct segments and gradually reducing the support as students master the material. This approach can be used at any age level, and it can benefit students of all abilities. It is especially helpful for students with learning disabilities, as it helps them comprehend new concepts without overwhelming them.

1975: There is mass panic in Adelaide after a house painter / part time psychic claimed God was about to send a tsunami to wipe out the city, should a plan to legalise homosexuality become law, with news reports reaching as far as London.
In response to the media frenzy, and to reassure the public, Premier Don Dunstan announced that he will be travelling to the beach to fight the sea, where he was met by hundreds of locals who had used the apocalypse as an excuse to take the day off work.

the rosier family
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
evan, pandora, félix, amélie, beatrice, alexandre
people who say that the rosier family is french are right, even if they aren't telling the whole truth. because it's true, every rosier child is born in france, in the family mansion in provence, but it is rare for them to grow up in their homeland. the rosiers travel, move, explore. the rosiers are in love with the world.
pandora and evan grew up in london, in the city where their father, alexandre, and their aunts, amélie and druella, moved in their youth. london, where alexandre met beatrice and druella met cygnus. london, where the twins learned to say their first words in two languages.
but before the capital, there was athens, where alexandre, amélie and druella grew up. their parents, passionate about classical culture, had met at university. and before athens, there was munich; and before munich, vienna, rome, st. petersburg, shanghai. different cities, with different names, different traditions, different history. cities that will never forget the name rosier.
those who travel, get married and change their lives. for this reason the pure rosier family is only a small group. alexandre is the pater familias. he developed the same passion for greek, latin and literature as his parents. he's a good man and a loving husband. nice, always ready with a joke and with lots of stories to tell. but, unfortunately, he's a terrible father: strict, even too much. unfair.
then, the twins. strange children, curious but disturbing. physically identical, but temperamentally opposites: one is violent and controlling, the other peaceful and sweet; one is incapable of lying, the other cannot help but do it. they're the precious heirs of the family, powerful and intelligent. pampered and loved, but always kept under control. with no possibility of escape.
beatrice, their mother, a strong and respected woman. she's rarely at home to take care of her children, like everyone expects her to do: she's always needed by someone, always traveling for meetings. her well-ironed, elegant branded clothes always smell of smoke. and when she returns home, smiling even if exhausted, she always has something for her children. a toy, a book, a magazine. she passed on her interest for fashion to evan.
aunt amélie married for love, to a sick man. he was a young frenchman. she, more than anyone, loved provence, so she left london to live in the mansion, where the family returns every summer for the holidays. she's a painter, an artist: she dives into the bottled memories of her family members and experiences their travels, she sees what they have visited with her own eyes. she paints magnificent landscapes. every room in the house is an exhibition of her talent.
and finally felix, amélie's only son, who she loves more than anyone else in the world. felix, sweet to her but wicked to everyone else. he's cruel and ruthless, jealous of the power of the twins (his little cousins), jealous of the attention they receive. there were never sweet words between them, only arguments, opportunities to make fun, humiliate and hurt each other deeply. what they share is only hate, a deep desire for revenge. or, maybe, also love: no one knows the twins better than felix, no one knows felix better than the twins. what they really have is deep connection that they'll never be able to dissolve and forget: this is family.
life never gave evan and pandora the chance to travel, but i think they would have stayed in france, moving to paris or the surroundings. they would have loved spending afternoons at the louvre, walking along the seine, sneaking into their small, squalid and cramped apartment. reading until their eyes burned, answering letters and staining doors with ink. trying to cook and failing. falling asleep on the couch.
they would have loved to live. waking up every morning and seeing the sun, sunrise and sunset, hearing the noise of people coming from the street.
they would have loved to live. together and forever.

Violent Delights Have Violent Ends - Part 2
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!reader
WC: 1.8k
TW: Serial killers, murders, blood, referencing to infidelity, descriptions of dead bodies, bugs
A/N: Enjoy part 2 babes!!!!
Part 1
Tumblr media
The worst part about a crime scene was not seeing the dead bodies, it was smelling them as soon as you entered the house. However, seeing them was not exactly great either.
This would have been much better advice than Derek telling you seeing a dead body for the first time can be a bit freaky.
You don’t really know why you agreed to go to the crime scene, but God did you fucking regret it now. Your eyes were starting to water and your hands were ever so slightly shaking. It was clear to you that all the profilers around you knew what you felt. Even if you were hard to read, they would have known just by the way you stopped talking.
Hotch gently put his hand on your arm, causing you to jump slightly and give him a small smile. He led you both to the kitchen to sit down for a moment, giving you a moment away from the whole scene.
Looking at the pictures was so different than seeing it in person. Someone actually dipped their hand in the neck of someone else and wrote on the wall in their blood. And they were cold and calculated enough to put gloves on first so there was no DNA left behind. Fucking psychopath.
“Y/n?”
You looked up from your hands and let out a curt laugh when a tear fell down your cheek. “Shit. Sorry.” Quickly wiping it away, you looked back down at your hands. “Sorry, I just….”
“It’s a lot.”
“Why–why do you need me here Hotch.”
He nodded and looked back at the living room. “Because we have a feeling the way he’s positioning the bodies might help us figure something else out, and you are our resident expert.”
“Don’t let Reid hear you say that. He might just have an aneurysm.” You muttered, a small smile on your face.
It got Hotch to smile in response. “He knows that you know more about this than him. Don’t worry. Can you get back in there or would you like us to take pictures and send them to you?”
You shook your head and stood up. “I’m fine. Just an initial shock I guess. Thank you, Hotch.”
The two of you walked back into the living room, and you were still grateful that you decided to forgo lunch, not giving your stomach any ammo in case it decided to evacuate your body.
The scene was gruesome. The wife’s body was lying on the floor in front of the fireplace arms above her head as if she was lifting something. Her blonde hair had been stained red, almost purposefully with blood, and braided into two long braids that came down the front of her chest. The only indication of any blood on her body, besides the gaping wound on her neck, was that the palms of her hands were coated in now-dried blood.
“It’s um.” You closed your eyes for a second. “It’s John Singer Sargent.”
“The famous painter?” Spencer turned to look at you from across the room where he had been talking to Prentiss.
You nodded. “His, uh. Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth, where she um, lifts the crown onto her head…It’s massive, like seven feet tall, four feet wide, at the Tate Britain in London.”
“What does this have to do with her.” Derek gestured to the corpse on the floor. Spencer, who noted that you really couldn’t take your eyes off of the body, pulled out his phone and quickly found the painting you were referencing.
“Oh wow,” Morgan muttered. “He even dressed her in the same shade of green…”
“It’s one of the most famous portrayals of Lady Macbeth out there. Her dress was decorated with….” Your eyes widened.
“With what.” Hotch walked over to you and looked between you and the body, and then over to Spencer. “What was her dress decorated with.”
Spencer quickly made his way over to you and kneeled next to the wife. “Oh my god.”
“Will someone tell me what’s going on?” Derek crossed his arms, unamused by the lack of information being spread around.
“Beetles. Ellen Terry’s dress was decorated with the wings of beetles.” You spoke up.  _________________________________________________________
Spencer had volunteered to drive you back to the station so that you could look at the actual bodies of the previous victims to see if you could find more details that they had missed.
“This one, Spencer, she’s uh…” You bit your lip, looking at the first set of victims. “This was the Romeo and Juliet one right? Because she’s draped on top of him like every production and painting of Romeo and Juliet I’ve ever seen. If we have to go specifics then I would say probably “The Reconciliation of the Montagues and Capulets” by Leighton. And the um…” You placed that image down and hunted for another one.
“And this one is the Hamlet one since she’s positioned exactly like Ophelia in Sir John Everett Milais’ painting. The Pre-Raphelite one with all the flowers. Look at the sheet the unsub placed her on, it’s completely floral, and did the autopsy come back saying she had drowned, or was drowned and then resuscitated or something?”
Spencer nodded. He was honestly in awe of you. The way you reset your head when you left the crime scene. The urgency you had developed. The sheer breadth of knowledge you possessed just continued to make him fall head first for you. Not that he could ever do anything about it since you lived in London half of the time, and he was always traveling around the US with no sort of set schedule.
“And…uh, where is it.”
“What are you looking for?”
“The one with the, uh, um. What the fuck was that guy’s name?”
Spencer looked at you with a furrowed brow. “Are you talking about Caesar?”
“YES. God. I always forget his name. Portia. She swallowed hot coals to kill herself right? But in the picture…” You pulled the photo out of the depths of the pile. “There’s a wound on the wife’s leg. Her cause of death was bleeding out, right? With the way she’s draped on the bed, and her husband is in the other room, it’s not the show. I think it’s the baroque piece of Portia by, uh, um…oh shit what was her name….”
Watching you work literally made Spencer’s heart want to bleed. He would actually propose to you on the spot if it wasn’t an extremely insensitive time to do so, and also you weren’t even dating. It was baffling to him that he had only known you for three days.
“Elisabetta Sirani!” You pulled out your phone and looked up the picture, and lo and behold, it matched the body.
“I think that it’s an art student, or someone heavily involved in art. Some of these are famous paintings, sure, but others? There’s a history there Spence. I only know these paintings because of my Ph.D. Sirani is not as common an artist as she should be.”
He sputtered at the nickname but quickly recovered. “I’ll call Hotch and let him know.”
You smiled at him and he smiled right back at you.
There was too long of a pause. It shouldn’t have happened at all really. But the sheriff knocked on the door, misinterpreting the stare for something more aggressive. “I don’t mean to break up whatever yelling session is about to happen, but the autopsy report came back…those were real wings.”
You looked back over at Spencer. “Tell him to get the team back. You guys need to give the profile.”  _____________________________________________________________
“I just don’t understand where someone even gets that many beetle wings. It’s not like you can order them online and have them shipped to your house.”
“That tells you how premeditated this was then.”
“Woman, where have you been all our lives.”
You laughed and Derek smiled over at you.
“No, seriously Y/n. I never thought Art history could be so…”
“Violent?” You guessed, smirking slightly and shaking her head. “There’s a painting I think yo should look up Derek. Well a few of them—Saturn Devouring His Son by Goya is a favorite of mine, and then Judith Beheading Holofernes by Virmiglio has a shit ton of blood in it…or if you want some heartbreak, I am personally fond of Caleron’s Broken Vows, or anything portraying the Kiss of Franchesca and Paulo.”
“I just don’t get how you can store all of this in your head.” Derek pulled up to the college campus and flashed his badge at the campus security, who let him through the gate.
“Well, I don’t know how to take apart a gun, and then put it back together, let alone fire it. We all have our different skills.”
This caused Derek to laugh. “Touche.”
The two of you pulled up to the building with the offices of the Art History faculty and looked around the campus. “This is a massive campus, Derek. I’m pretty sure they have an MA and a Ph.D. in Art History beyond undergrad…”
“Believe it or not, this is not our first murderous college student case.”
You rolled your eyes. “Great. It’s good to know the youth of America are doing alright.”
That caused Derek to crack a smile. “Well. Let’s go find this professor and see what we can find out.”
The trek across campus brought you back to your college days. It was kind of nice to see that kids still hung out on the lawns and with one another, not just staring at their phones and laptops all of the time.
The both of you made your way up to the stairs of this slightly blocky building. It felt a bit like a museum with the amount of artifacts that they kept on the first and second floors, but as you walked through the fifth floor offices, your face started to fall.
“Derek what was the name of the professor we were supposed to talk to?” You whispered, slowly moving to a stop.
He turned and looked at you. “uh…Doctor Kolek, why?”
You pointed to the door you stopped in front of.
It was slightly ajar and looked as if the lock had been busted. Morgan quickly, pulled out his gun and shoved you behind him, calling out the woman’s name as you both held your breath.
When there was no response, Derek slowly pushed the door open. Her office was a wreck, as if someone had taken a sledgehammer to it. Papers were scattered, there were frames on the floor, and a dent in the wall as if someone had tried to throw something at someone. You called out the woman’s name again, only to gasp. Derek turned and faced the same way you were looking.
Doctor Kolek was face down on the floor. There was no blood around her, and the room didn’t smell like death, so that was a good sign, but she was clearly unconscious. Derek quickly rolled her over and checked for her vitals.
“She’s still breathing. Call a medic.”
You scrambled to pull out your phone, dialing 911.

Penniless Artist Dream doesn't have a choice but to take a position as house staff/live-in tutor for Widower Hob's Robin/sell the last of his art supplies for the livery for the job, and while he knows he didn’t have a choice, working on anything not his art makes him very sad.
And he's convinced that Master Gadling (No, Dream is not going to call him Hob) only gave him the position out of pity - which Dream can't abide.
Hob thinks Dream is fantastic! A fantastic artist and person; and so good with Robin. Hob doesn't know how, but he's going to figure out a way for Dream to start doing his art again....Hob's okay if Robin becomes an artist. The finger paintings and hand turkeys that Dream has him making are so great! Hob has kept all of them.
I can't decide if this is Regency-y or Modern Times-y, because Robin+Dream Art would live in a place of honor on Hob's fridge; but Old Time-y Hob getting all the canvases framed at expense and put in places of honor all over the house,,,,,that's totally a thing too.
AND when Dream finally gets back to his art and does a best selling gallery series with Robin's little Gadling handprints all in them,,,Hob would give it to him soooooo good.
Omg. We absolutely need artist Dream with Hob as his patron!! And lil Robin as his biggest fan!! And hey, I cant resist a little regency au in my life *winks at @seiya-starsniper *
Dream is a good tutor, but Hob can see that he's an even better painter. He wants to see Dream thrive and flourish! And so he causally offers him a commission: he wants a painting of a particular view from one of his favourite spots on his estate. Dream is hesitant at first, but Hob persuades him gently. Robin is still quite little, so he doesn't need Dream to be teaching him all the time. Hob can take him out for rides and play with him while Dream works on his art! He's missed playing with his little man anyway, so really Dream will be doing him a huge favour. And so, mostly because the money is too good to resist, Dream gives in.
He paints a magnificent landscape and Hob gushes about how much he loves it. He hangs it in the most important place in the house and makes all his guests look at it. He offers Dream more commissions and Dream can't resist Hob’s puppyish enthusiasm. He paints and paints and teaches Robin at the same time, until the boy is quite the budding little artist. Hob is so proud!
He even suggests that they should send one of Dream’s pictures off to the royal exhibition in London. Dream is very hesitant but Hob is persuasive, and he's got nothing to lose: Hob is paying all the fees. Dream just has to wait and see. When they find out that Dream’s painting is going on display, Hob pulls Dream into his arms and squeezes him, practically lifting him off the ground! He can't wait to take Dream and Robin to see the exhibition! No doubt, he's got it bad for his artist.
They make love for the first night in Hob’s London home, trying to be quiet so nobody will hear. Dream puts his lovely slim fingers in Hob’s mouth and muffles his moans into Hob’s chest, both of them completely floating away on a wave of love and joy. Hob wakes in the morning to the sight of Dream, sketchbook in hand, drawing out his naked form. They're both covered in charcoal by the time they're finished.
Dream isn't exactly a roaring success in London, but he picks up a few commissions from those who saw his painting at the exhibition. It's a huge improvement on his former situation, and he has plenty of room to grow. Although it may be difficult to persuade Hob to let anyone else buy the paintings - he's a liiiiittle possessive. And he'll always worship everything Dream creates <3

Lit Hub: How Oscar Wilde Created a Queer, Mysterious Symbol in Green Carnations
Tumblr media
In London in 1892, everybody—or, at least, everybody who was anybody—was talking about one thing: green carnations. Nobody was sure, exactly, what wearing a green carnation meant, or why it had suddenly become such a deliciously scandalous, dazzlingly fashionable sartorial statement. All anybody knew was that one day, at a London theater, someone important (stories differed as to who exactly it was) wore a green carnation, or maybe it had been a blue one (stories differed about that too).
Green carnations may have had something to do with sexual deviance. They may also have had something to do with the worship of art. And the whole thing somehow had to do with Oscar Wilde, the flamboyant playwright, novelist, and fame-courting dandy who—as he never tired of telling the press—put his talent into his work but put his genius into his life. Wilde lived his life as a work of art (or let people think he did). The affair of the green carnation gives us a little glimpse into how.
One story about what exactly happened comes from the painter Cecil Robertson, who recounts his version in his memoirs. According to Robertson, Wilde was keen to drum up publicity for his latest play, Lady Windermere’s Fan. A character in the play, Cecil Graham—an elegant and witty dandy figure who rather resembled Wilde himself—was ostensibly going to wear a carnation onstage as part of his costume. And Wilde wanted life to resemble art.
“I want a good many men to wear them tomorrow,” Wilde allegedly told Robertson. “People will stare…and wonder. Then they will look round the house [theater] and see every here and there more and more little specks of mystic green”—a new and inexplicable fashion statement. And then, Wilde gleefully insisted, they would start to ask themselves that most vital of questions: “What on earth can it mean?”
Robertson evidently ventured to ask Wilde what, exactly, the green carnation did mean.
Wilde’s response? “Nothing whatsoever. But that is just what nobody will guess.”
Within days, carnations were everywhere. Just two weeks later, a newspaper covering the premiere of another play, this one by Théodore de Banville, reported a bizarre phenomenon: Wilde in the audience, surrounded by a “suite of young gentlemen all wearing the vivid dyed carnation which has superseded the lily and the sunflower,” two flowers that had previously been associated with Wilde and with fashionable, flamboyant, and sexually ambiguous young men more generally.
A little over a week after that, a London periodical published another piece on this mysterious carnation. It is a dialogue between Isabel, a young woman, and Billy, an even younger dandy—heavily implied to be gay—about the flower, which Billy has received as a gage d’amour (the French is tactfully untranslated) from a much older man. Billy shows off his flower to the curious Isabel with the attitude of studied nonchalance: “Oh, haven’t you seen them?…. Newest thing out. They water them with arsenic, you know, and it turns them green.”
The green carnation is something desperately exciting, understood not by ordinary society women but by Brummell-style dandies, shimmering with hauteur. It’s deliciously dangerous, perhaps even a tad wicked; the carnations are colored with poison, after all. It’s also, in every sense of the word, a little bit queer.
The green carnation’s appeal as a symbol of something esoteric persisted. Two years after the premiere of Lady Windermere’s Fan, an anonymous author—later revealed to be the London music critic Robert Hichens—published The Green Carnation, a novel that appears to be very obviously based on Oscar Wilde’s real-life homosexual relationship with the much younger Lord Alfred “Bosie” Douglas.
The Green Carnation, though it is certainly a satirical exaggeration, can tell us much about this strange, new class of young men cropping up not only in London but also in Paris, Copenhagen, and so many other European capitals during the nineteenth century: the dandy. Inheritors of the mantle of Beau Brummell but far more flamboyant in their affect—John Bull would certainly have turned around to look at them in the street—these modern dandies didn’t just live their lives artistically.
These dandies believed—or at least made out that they believed—that the highest calling a person could have was a careful cultivation of the self: of clothing, sure, and of hairstyle, but also of gesture, of personality. And behind that belief lay a kind of bitter nihilism, as poisonous as arsenic itself. Nothing meant anything, unless you decided it did. A green carnation could signify homosexual desire, or aesthetic dandyism, or “nothing whatsoever,” depending on your mood and what you felt like conveying to the world that morning.
