Christmas money means buying stuff. I got synth stuff and you're damn right I got camera stuff. In fact, I got a new camera! The Lomo Apparat, a 35mm wide angle point and shoot.
Now, in my time playing with their cameras (Diana F+, simple use, Konstruktor) and now this, there are a few things I've gone to expect from this brand.
1) Imperfection is where beauty lives. Lomo goes all in on light leaks, weird tricks, and batshit insane ideas for wether photography can be as a fun art. Some of these shots are among my favorites ever and will be on the shop at some point.
2) have a tripod or something to stabilize because you're gonna be here a while. That's true on the Diana, i haven't had the guts to try it on the Konstruktor. The only shutter speeds on the Apparat are 1/100 and bulb. Bulb typically gets the best photos. The long exposures with with neat lens filters (close up, kaleidoscope, and Splitzer which splits the lens for multiple exposures) are some of my faves :)
3) This camera continues the fine Lomo tradition of being an absolute pain in the ass to load. And if I were to describe this camera's winding, it would be crunchy. I was quite worried the poor sprocket holes would rip apart the entire time.
The faster the better, these were all shot on Fujifilm Superia 400, but the weather has been too dark to really give enough light for it.
Honestly it feels like the 35mm companion to the Diana F+ i hoped the Konstruktor would be. It's fine if you can get past the crunch and economical of you want to just go have fun!

january 2024 - film
I went to so many flower fields in january. These sunflowers were so pretty but all the photos I took of them look kind of weird.

Some days, it feels like the only thing I ever do here anymore is block bots. It's been cold enough that I've avoided shooting outside. That said, I do want to bring the Apparat out on the town at night.
The Lomo Apparat comes with a filter called the Splitzer. This allows you to take photos like the one of the lot behind my place in this set. As this camera only shoots in either f100 or bulb, being able to set up steady night long exposures required some experimenting with a phone tripod mount. The one I used was very unstable and I wanted something that would work better.
Tonight, I was looking for a thicker cell phone holder but A) couldn't find it and B) think it might not have done the job I wanted. Because it is thicker, it would cause issues with the buttons I would need on the camera.
Until I found the flash attachment bracket for the Konstructor.
The Konstruktor is a flaming hot mess of a camera, as much as i loved building it. This bracket is also kind of a mess as the placement of the tripod threading forces the camera in portrait mode initially.
However! If i set my tripod to portrait mode, it will push this into landscape. Easy enough, right?
Well here's where things get cool!
Because of the way the flash assembly is sitting, I can turn it over and then turn the Apparat around with all of the buttons available, ready to shoot upside down!
And if the plate becomes to loose, I'll pull it off the tripod, tighten it, and put it back to finish.
