My Top 25 Crossover Couples (Pt 2)
(Please click on picture for better quality)
It's finally finished! I've had this sitting in my PicsArt drafts for over four months, and that's why some of the other pictures are blurry because it's been rendered so many times, but there had to be changes made based on my mood!
Top 25 Crossover Couples (Blank) by Daniarts19 on DA.
(This will also be the last time that I'll use this template by Daniarts19 due to her disrespecting my DNI and breaking her promise about not saying mean/rude things to me.)
Loona (Helluva Boss) x Izuku (MHA) (Dekoona/MoonRabbit): My friend @amethystoceandespiser got me to ship them. I'm invested in their chemistry and emotional connection.
Sunita (ROTTMNT) x Tucker (Danny Phantom): My friend @amethystoceandespiser brought this ship to my attention and I love it!
Octavia (Helluva Boss) x Danny (DP) (Spectral Owl): This is the ship that started the friendship between me and @amethystoceandespiser and I love it! Their emotional connection and chemistry has my heart.
Jazz (Danny Phantom) x Raph (ROTTMNT) (Tough Cookie & Smart Cookie): This ship came to me after my friend and I made our Scott Pilgrim AU. They're both older siblings who just want the best for their younger siblings. They understand each other's pain.
Mayor Lionheart (Zootopia) x Anna (Frozen): My reasons for shipping Anna and Mayor Lionheart are explained in this post here.
Sparky (Atomic Betty) x Amethyst (Trollz) This ship came to me as a kid.
Buttercup (PPG) x Nergal Jr (TGAOB&M) I love Tomboy x Nerd dynamics, but it's even more interesting considering that Buttercup fights monsters for a living and Nergal Jr. is a monster-demon-demigod-nerd-boy, lol.
Lobster Claws (SVTFOE) x Bubbles (PPG) (BubbleClaws) This crackship is based on a joke between me and my sister @small-tragedies
Goo (FHFIF) x Blossom (PPG) (GooBloss/PinkGoo) This ship came to me when I was a kid, and I thought that they were cute together.
Alice (AMA/AMR) x P/Pinocchio (LOP) (Palice) I have to thank my friend, @frie-ice for getting me to ship them.
Violet (The Incredibles) x Varian (TTS/RTA) (Virian) I have to thank @virianhaven for getting me to ship them.
Lola Bunny (TLTS) x Minnie Mouse (Minola) I have @dawn64 to thank for getting me to ship them so hard.
Lucifer Morningstar x Poppy (DuckPop/PopStar/ApplePop) I have @hah-studios to thank for getting me to ship them. Watch this video here.
Rapunzel (Tangled) x Fred (BH6) (Fredpunzel/Rapzilla/Sunzilla) I have to thank @rapunzelcrossoverqueen for getting me to ship them.
Minerva Mink x Marvin Martian (Minervin/MartianMink) I have to thank @dawn64 for getting me to ship them.
Panini (Chowder) x Lincoln/Warren (Loud House): I had an idea based on the "White Hare" episode, where Lincoln has a dream about being a rabbit named Warren with 15 extra sisters but instead has an Alice in Wonderland-type adventure being transported to Marzipan City, and you can probably guess the rest.
Ami (Sailor Moon) x Sonic (Sonic X) (SonAmi, I guess, lol): Being a die-hard SonElise shipper, it's easy to assume that Sonic has a type~
Daisy Duck x Cruella (Cruaisy): I started shipping them years ago when I watched this Disney short called Electric Holiday. I've made a couple AUs where Daisy works for Cruella in the fashion industry, and they become close friends and lovers in a May-December relationship.
Tom (Tom & Jerry) x Bright Eyes (Pound Puppies Season 1): I like to headcanon that Tom and Bright Eyes are childhood friends to lovers. I explain it more in this post here.
Frank Wolff (Jungle Cruise) x Jack Sparrow (TPOTC) (SparrowWolf/WolfSparrow): I don't really ship characters from live-action movies and shows, but Disney Mirrorverse got me to ship these two goofballs.
Cinderella x Gojo (JJK) (Gojoella): Don't get me wrong. I love Sukuella, but I solely blame @peachudumplings for giving me Fairy-God-Gojo, and thus I ship Cinderella and Gojo too, lol.
Stitch (Lilo and Stitch) x Tinker Bell (Peter Pan): My reasons for crackshipping Stitch and Tinker Bell are explained in this post here.
Alice x Peter Pan (PanAlice): I've always shipped Peter Pan and Alice, but because of their Disney Mirrorverse counterparts, I shipped them harder.
Yuji Itadori (JJK) x Yuliy Jirov (Sirius the Jaeger) (YuYu): They have so much in common! That's all I'll say about these two for now~
Tiana x Nanami (Tianami): I have to thank @peachudumplings for getting me to ship them so hard. They're perfect for each other~
I am cringe and I am free!
Here is a link to my Top 25 Crossover Couples (Pt 1).

What your favourite style savvy / new fashion boutique brand says about you!
April Bonbon- You may not dress in decora kei in real life but you sure wish you could.
Marble Lily- If you played the game as a child it introduced you into lolita, if you played as an adult then this brand is the reason you bought the game in the first place.
AZ•USA- You are loving that you dress in gyaru in the game or you’re just American.
Capsule / Retrobeat- You think retrobeat is underrated and you really like characters from shows with 1min screen time.
Marzipan Sky- You’re queer, I don’t make the rules.
Sonata / Chorale- You fully believe that Evie is your fairy godmother.
Pure Cloth / Basic U- You don’t exist.
Terra / Soy- You were really happy when maxi skirts came back into fashion 2 years ago.
Pen / Brook Bridge- You didn’t go to a school with a uniform.
Alvarado / Edin Chen- You were sad when you found out that Angélique doesn’t actually like chic fashion despite wearing it so you are a hard core Lola stan.
Kanokoi- You say this is your favourite brand but really you only wear the kimonos and yukatas from it.
Mad Jack / Stage Dive- You had a scene kid or emo phase and would always put the arm warmers on your character.
GXS / Street Flow- You always pair your outfits with April Bonbon clothes but refuse to say that AB is your fav.
Raven Candle- We know. YOU LIKE MARIA WE GET IT!
Masquerade / Purple Moon- You’re still upset that there is only one fifth of the amount of clothes in PM compared to every other brand also you like anime.
Any of the male brands- You don’t really like these, you’re just upset you can’t play as a dude.
(Note: not all brands are on the list either because they don’t appear in enough of the games and are not transferable or they are bag brands)
… so which one are you?

Theatergender
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A gender based around dramatic/theatrical aesthetics and/or activities. People who identify as theatergender may identify with musicals, screenwrites, and/or performing on stage in general. Of course, nobody needs to identify with those things to identify as theatergender and all genders are valid!

Cinderella au - aftg
Ok ok, I know that I’m supposed to be working on my vixen!neil au (and I am! It’s just taking a bit because I apparently can’t write short fics to save my life), but I just watched the live action Cinderella and I have Thoughts.
Neil is Cinderella, because while Andrew is totally the one with the evil barely-related family, it wouldn’t make sense for Andrew to go to a ball. Also, when Neil’s mom dies, his situation becomes worse, like Cinderella.
Lola is the evil stepmother but Nathan never goes to jail or dies. There’s no stepsisters (there could be if you want the Moriyamas, but I don’t because that just adds a whole other layer that I don’t want to deal with, also we like things soft) but the rest of the inner circle fills that role of pushing Neil down
Nathan has some high rank and is affiliated with the army. He’s not a captain or general by any means but has a reputation of being lethal.
Mary was the one with the real power (maybe a countess or foreign duchess), so Nathan married up. When she died, Stuart wanted to take Neil under his wing, but Nathan didn’t want to lose hold of the one thing that tied him to power so he argued that Neil should stay with him because Lola could provide some “maternal love”.
Neil is forced to do household chores and clean up after his father and his circle’s kills. He’s also forced to learn how to use knives to help them in the future
Bee is the queen, she is sisters with Abby, who marries Wymack
Andrew and Aaron are Bee’s kids, Kevin and Dan are Abby and Wymack’s
Wymack is part of the army, maybe the general or something. He teaches Dan the people skills while Kevin cares more about being the best swordsman
Aaron follows his aunt and becomes a healer while Andrew becomes a skilled cavalier
They all play a sport *cough exy cough* that they made up when they were little kids (and that’s why the rules are so screwed up)
Aaron wants a ball because he fell in love with a foreign princess (Katelyn) but Andrew doesn’t like her so Aaron wants Bee’s approval to trump Andrew
When he were younger, Andrew was kidnapped by Drake and he saw some human trafficking and Drake almost got to him. Renee saved him and got him to the royal guard. Andrew became an advocate for cleaning up the kingdom and became close friends with Renee
Bee adopted Andrew and Aaron when Tilda first abandoned them. Tilda tried to take one back but Bee made her realize that guilt wasn’t going to make her a good mother so Tilda left them in Bee’s care
Nicky and the twins know each other and their relation. Nicky’s parents are influential so although Bee has tried to save him, she can’t really take him away without causing a scandal, which she doesn’t think will be good for him. Instead, she suggests that he study under an ambassador. Nicky gets to travel and meet Erik, the prince of some place more powerful than Bee’s, and thus Luther’s, kingdom. Nicky is happy and lovesick and takes over as ambassador to Erik’s kingdom
ANYWAY
Aaron wants a ball
Bee says yes
Andrew is upset because Bee says everyone has to go, so he spitefully says that EVERYONE includes commoners, so now the whole freaking kingdom is invited
Bee privately thinks this is funny and that maybe it will mean that Andrew will find a nice boy
Dan thinks its hilarious and while Kevin is upset that it’ll take time away from practicing, it’s making Andrew take out his anger during practice
Invitations go out, announcements are made
Nathan decides he wants to go in order to social climb
He doesn’t want Neil to go because having a kid will make him look less serious
Neil doesn’t care but Matt, who is one of the servants (stable boy), wants to go and wants Neil to go because he wants his friend to have fun
Lola sends Neil to Allison’s dressmaking shop to order a dress
Allison has Renee over when Neil goes. Renee takes one look at Neil and sees someone who’s been hurt and needs help. Allison sees a fighter with horrendous fashion taste. Allison tells Neil she’ll make the dress only if Neil agrees to let her make a suit for him and if he’ll save the money to get something decent to eat
Neil agrees because while the suit thing might be weird, he’s not about to give up free money
Renee goes and tells Andrew because she thinks he might want to know about the corruption in the nobility
Andrew decides he wants to see this for himself so he decides to lurk around when Lola goes in for a fitting
Neil accompanies Lola because she wants to flaunt her power over him
Andrew sees Neil and is like “ooh pretty boy”
Neil sees Andrew and is Suspicious and kinda recognizes him as one of the princes
Allison sees all this and makes Andrew measure Neil for Neil’s suit
Renee laughs at Andrew’s pain
The “yes or no”s start here, but with Neil flinching away from Andrew when Andrew goes to measure Neil’s torso
Andrew is suspicious and a bit angry at what this might mean, because he saw how the trafficked kids reacted to other people and he know how he reacted the weeks and months after getting kidnapped so he knows something is up
Allison drags out Lola’s fitting as much as she can to give Andrew and Neil time to talk, as well as to give Neil time away from Lola
Andrew tells Neil to meet him in the woods if he wants to get away from his father
Neil is still suspicious but figures it couldn’t hurt, and besides, he’s definitely faster and a better fighter than some prince, right?
Neil and Lola go home and Lola complains to Nathan about how long Allison took, Nathan lets her at Neil
They meet in the woods the next day
Andrew wants to grill Neil when he sees how hurt he is, but Neil doesn’t really want to talk, so they exchange truths
They meet a couple more times like this (the ball isn’t happening for another three weeks because it takes time for this stuff to be planned and organized)
By the second week, the rest of the royal family has noticed and elected Dan to follow Andrew because Aaron and Kevin are both annoyed at Andrew for various reasons
The day Dan follows Andrew is also the day Matt comes with Neil. Matt had followed Neil because he wants to meet this person who is making Neil happy when he isn’t with Matt
Andrew is annoyed and tells Dan to annoy someone else, so she goes and talks with Matt. Matt now wants to go the the ball too
Slowly the foxes come together, and by the week before the ball, the royal cousins have taught the others exy.
Also, as the ball has been approaching, Nathan has swung between ignoring Neil and causing immense amounts of harm
This causes the foxes to rally even more around Neil
The week leading up to the ball, Nathan was scarily calm because the royal guard has lightened up on patrols and so Nathan isn’t as worried about getting caught
Neil tells the Andrew this privately and Andrew makes a note to get Neil away from his father asap
The day of the ball, Nathan and the inner circle go. They make plans to leave at midnight.
Neil isn’t really planning on going still, but Matt shows him the suit Allison had made for him (Allison gave Matt the suit because she didn’t trust Neil not to ruin it before the ball) and Dan had sent them a carriage, so it would be a waste not to go.
They don’t their names called because only the women and distinguished guests get to be announced
Andrew abandons Aaron when he sees Neil
Bee has already given Katelyn her stamp of approval when Katelyn was the first to arrive and she saw how lovesick both Aaron and Katelyn were
When Andrew gets to Neil, Matt leaves him to find Dan
For a solid hour everyone is happily paired off, Renee watching fondly as Allison makes snide remarks on others’ outfits, Aaron and Katelyn dancing, Matt and Dan talking, Neil and Andrew in the gardens. Kevin is talking with the daughter and apprentice of a blacksmith (Thea) and Nicky is pissing his parents off with Erik.
Then, when Neil comes back inside with Andrew, he sees a) the time and b) Nathan
He’s not sure if Nathan’s seen him, but he tells Andrew that he’s got to go, so he runs like the speedy little fucker he is. In his haste, he leaves a shoe, because Renee and Matt annoyingly made him change into bad-for-running shoes because his shoes were too dirty
This makes Renee, Dan, and Allison the Fairy Godmother(s)
Andrew picks up his shoe and decides that when he finds Neil, he’s going to get him shoes that fit better
At home, Neil finds that the inner circle minus Lola is back. They start to beat him up, and when Nathan and Lola get home, they continue to do so. Nathan can’t cripple Neil permanently because everyone would notice, but he does break his leg and slash him up
He’s about to break the other leg when the Foxes break down the door. Kevin, Renee, Dan, and Andrew utterly ruin Nathan, and since they’re royals, they’re untouchable
Nathan and the inner circle go to jail
It turns out Aaron proposed to Katelyn at the ball, so Andrew proposes with the shoe Neil lost. Neil is confused, but elopes with Andrew.
Dan, Allison and Nicky laugh, Renee and Kevin shake their heads for different reasons and then Nicky freaks out because he wanted to throw elaborate weddings for his cousins, but now Andrew has ruined it

♚  ━━━  ❛ ALL ABOUT AUGUST.
G E N E R A L  —
Tumblr media
NAME.         his full birth name is august ahn-evergreene, his last names being a combination of his maternal and paternal last names because his mother wasn’t going to allow her children to not have her last name in some fashion. however, in his twenties he drops evergreene and only uses ahn as his last name due to a rift with his mother / wanting an identity separate from her ( he’s not fond of his father either but he has a habit of leaving town so it’s easier for august to distance himself from that part of his family’s ‘legacy’ ).
AGE.         he appears in his late 20s ( 27-30 ) but is around 60 years old due to the extended lifespan of a mage.
HEIGHT.          he stands at 6′1 ( 185.42 ). no, he’s not a sloucher and is the type to internally judge people who do because stand up straight wtf?
WEIGHT.          170 pounds ( 77.1kg ). he’s lean and not overly muscular; doesn’t do much heavy physical activity anymore due to his current ‘condition’.
ETHNICITY.         korean-filipino american mage. he comes from a bloodline of magic-users. if commenting on his natural magical prowess, expect a dry ‘of course, i was breed to be.’ in response.
OCCUPATION.           he is what the people of crescent creek call ‘the overseer’, the highest sitting member of the council of novema ( or just ‘the council’ for short ). they are the ones who ‘govern’ the town and its people, establishing laws and stepping in to resolve high-level matters between residents if it should come to it. with the council needing to hear matters from the magi, vampires, fae, werewolves, and other beings, august has a constant headache.
GENDER.          cis-male.
SEXUAL & ROMANTIC ORIENTATION.         he would state that he’s heterosexual but admittedly he’s never fully explored his sexuality enough for that to be a definite statement. he hasn’t seriously dated in a very long time™ and it isn’t interested in changing that.
MBTI.         INTJ-A,  The  Architect  —  it can be lonely at the top. as one of the rarest personality types – and one of the most capable – architects ( INTJs ) know this all too well. rational and quick-witted, architects may struggle to find people who can keep up with their nonstop analysis of everything around them. these personalities can be both the boldest of dreamers and the bitterest of pessimists. architects believe that, through willpower and intelligence, they can achieve even the most challenging of goals. but they may be cynical about human nature more generally, assuming that most people are lazy, unimaginative, or simply doomed to mediocrity.
S P E C I F I C S  —
FAVOURITE  FOOD.           he’s very particular about getting his three meals a day in if he can but he probably has the most fondest for food that was often served at dinner time with his family or when all his cousins spent time at his lola’s house when they visited her. dishes such as bopis, kimchi, pancit canton, tocino and rice, korean styled steak, etc. are personal favorites.
FAVOURITE  DRINK.           his day isn’t complete without having a nice, chilled glass of vintage red wine during dinner ( and maybe just drinking straight from the bottle by the end of the night ). he does enjoy drinking rosé during a nice breakfast or lunch depending on the bottle.
FAVOURITE  HOBBY.          brooding. joking aside, he does enjoy sparring matches, ‘magical’ based sparring matches. he does practice taekkyeon ( korean martial arts ) and enjoys mixing spells in by shocking opponents, blocking their spells with his own wards, etc.
FAVOURITE  SCENT.             the smell of freshly cut grass as well as the scent of pomegranates, vanilla, cinnamon, and musk. the former is bittersweet and nostalgic, reminding of his years as a teen: when he was young, oblivious, and only had to be concerned about being late to football / soccer practice. the latter reminds him of someone he would rather forget.
FAVOURITE  PERSON.        i. his twin brother, ansel ahn. his death still hurts and he’ll always partially blame himself for it - despite the fact that there would’ve been nothing he could’ve done to change it. ( this is the part where that wand.avision quote is inserted in ). the loss of his brother dramatically changes the course of his life. ii. his lola, nora evergreene. she grounds him a lot. one of the few times he’s at peace is when he visits her for brunch every third saturday of the month. iii. his ex, audrey cramer. he would never admit it out loud though - at least not anymore.
T E N   F A C T S  —
he’s well versed in magical creatures : one of the 'gifts’ of being the overseer is the ability to traverse pass the veil - a barrier / entry way that exist between ‘earth’ and the many dimensions that exist beyond it. this ability, however, is one that has fallen out of use over the past few decades. ever the abnormally, august makes use of this ability for his own personal agenda. outside of the different races that already live within crescent creek ( witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. ), there are those that prefer to live freely in their own worlds rather than live in secrecy on earth. so yes, he has met unicorns and he thinks most of them are actually assholes.
on the nature of the veil : the origin of the veil itself is a mystery. all that is known that about its existence is that many millennium ago, those from different dimensions ( or ‘worlds’ ) were able to freely pass through it without the need of assistance or a spell. as time progressed and humanity began to rise, passage through the veil became increasingly more restricted, leading to entry ways within the veil being sealed and only accessible through the leader in each world ( ex. the overseer in crescent creek ). although the town of crescent creek has always traded with other towns, cities, etc. pass the veil, many of those trades have slowed to a stop entirely as those dimensions have become inaccessible. to somewhat ease panic and concern, the council has framed the issue being due to other dimensions permanently closing themselves off from earth ( a situation that has previously happened some worlds ). in truth, the veil itself has become 'infected’ by a foreign spell that’s led to the blocking of entry ways that lead into other worlds. due to not knowing the source of the spell and its affect on the veil, the knowledge of its presence is unknown to most people in crescent creek. // note: this is more of an overall ‘lore’ fact that explains the backdrop of what’s going on in this ‘world’ to understand other facts about him. in the grand scheme of things, this wouldn’t come up when interacting with him.
he doesn’t believe in astrologists, psychics, fortune tellers, etc. : which may seem contradictory considering he’s a literal magical being but in his experience, it’s typically humans pushing pseudoscience or mages using their magic to con clueless humans. people in that line of ‘work’ are hacks to him - especially since he’s seen it first hand with his own father’s profession.
over the past twenty years, he’s been continuing his brother’s research : ansel, his older, twin brother, had been studying the distortions within the veil in secret before his death a decade prior. although the status of the veil was supposed to be concealed to those outside of the council’s reach, ansel confided in his brother before his death. in august’s eyes, whatever spell that’s taken over the veil is an active threat and with the backing of onyx crane, a vampire on the council, and his cousin, faye evergreene, he began an almost obsessive-like determination to complete his brother’s work and find answers - even if it’s to his own detriment. // *note: with a big soap opera trope being people returning from the dead, it shouldn’t be shocking to discover that ansel, is in fact, not actually dead. he used a storm that hit the town as a means to fake his own death ( disasters that kill off characters is usually a soap opera storyline that happens during ‘sweeps’ period ) and left town for his own agenda.
the youngest overseer to sit in the council : his status as the overseer is one steeped in controversy due to...a variety of reasons: an overseer typically is replaced by another council member by vote or an apprentice to the overseer should they have one after an overseer’s death, resignation, or if they’ve been forcefully discharged from the position. none of these things applied to august’s own mother, tala ahn-evergreene, when he usurped her - blackmailing the council by threatening to expose the truth about the current threat of the veil. // *note: in every ( american ) soap opera, it is a staple to have a ‘thing’, whether it be a business, a central institution in town ( ex. a hospital ), or a position ( CEO of a company, chief of staff at a hospital, etc. ) that many of the characters are tied to or even fighting for control over. ELQ, the quartermaine’s family business on general hospital, often have storylines where family members are fighting over shares of the company, who should run it, or the family teaming up to oust an outsider that’s taken over the company ( funnily enough, there is a story like the latter happening on the show right now ). the point here is that being the overseer or even sitting on the council of novema is that ‘thing’ that people fight over to be on for various reason.
he takes his personal upkeep very seriously : there’s a lot of things one could say about crescent creek’s current overseer but no one can ever say they’ve seen august ahn not look put together when he’s out and about ( this is him going out publicly basically ). as someone who values consistency and control in his life but pretty much never has it, august actually highly treasures the time spent doing his morning / nightly skincare routines, getting his acupuncture treatments, and so on. he supports the self care movement essentially.
he ( as well as his siblings ) once witnessed one of his father’s affairs : it was an awful experience. -10/10. doesn’t recommend. this incident shapes his attitude towards relationships in general and how he operates within them. august has a very black and white attitude about relationships: you are either with him 100% or you’re not with him at all. it’s unhealthy and he has to unpack that. // *fun fact: this is actually a real event that happened with this family back in the sims 2 over ten years ago - they just all had different names, were a different race, and so on at that point.. they’ve changed a lot:tm:.
may be an active suspect for murder : it happens. when marlena cramer, a former council member, suddenly passes on, the town is overtaken by a wave of a grief...that soon becomes shock and suspicion when her death is rules to be from unnatural causes. between being one of the last people to see her alive and reports of him wanting her off the council, august becomes one of the prime suspects for her murder case. // *note: whodunit’s are probably up there with ‘who’s the daddy’ storylines in terms of being the most common soap opera staple ( ex. who shot j.r. on dallas ).
voted most likely to be successful in his HS yearbook : august was the picture perfect prom king, the jock that was friends with everyone on campus, and the one everyone expected ride off into the sunset with his hs sweetheart. on paper, august was well rounded - some would say outright perfect. today, those who knew him in high school would shake their heads and ask themselves what happened to the boy who always smiled at them when he passed you by in the hallway or whose laughter could easily be heard the loudest in a classroom. august, as he is now, is a stranger to those that once knew him.
it’s happening gradually but he is, in fact, dying : many of the worlds that had become unaccessible were not only blocked off but were actively decaying - many of its residents fleeing to other worlds before they were forever trapped in a dying one while others locked their entry ways to stop the spell from spreading to their own homes. the overseers in crescent creek were restricted from traversing the veil themselves due to the unknown risk of the spell, a rule that august actively ignores. every time he travels through the veil, the more the spell slowly eats away at him - a fact that he is well aware of and he has no desire to stop. he will keep traveling worlds ( and helping those he can ) until he finds the source of the spell and kills its caster himself.
FIVE  THINGS  HE  LIKES.
visiting the sauna. the heat helps with his internal pain.
eating home-cooked meals.
getting hydrafacials ( james_franco_so_good.gif ).
smoking with his cousin, faye.
blasting emo music as he gets drunk, questions his life choices, and stares at the ceiling
FIVE  THINGS  HE  DISLIKES.
feeling used.
disloyal / uncommitted people
selfishness.
tough, chewy steak.
cheap wine.
COMMON  WORDS / PHRASES  THAT  ANNOY  THEM.         during a misunderstanding or argument, the worst thing to tell him is that he ‘doesn’t understand’. even if the person is somewhat correct, august is a person that prides himself on being an objective observer of a situation, rational in his thinking, and not someone who lets his emotions dictate his choices. saying something like that to him would just further annoy him.
PERSONALITY  TYPES  THEY  PREFER.        those who are smart, loyal, and efficient. those who are willing to dirty their hands on occasion, and believe that the ends do justify the means.
PERSONALITY  TYPES  THEY  AVOID.       selfish and incompetent people, those who proceed to waste his time, useless people in positions of powers, jerky unicorns.
WHAT  DO  YOU  FIND  DIFFERENT / DISTINCT  ABOUT  YOUR  PORTRAYAL?
the whole concept of this ‘world’ is based around soap opera cliches and tropes so the character is intentionally ‘tropey’ and meant to pull from different fictional men from the genre - as well as outside of it. i would say him being the leading man is unique within itself because people of color in soaps ( at least within american soaps which this is all inspired by ) are generally never the leads or involved in what i actually watch soaps for: the drama, the love stories, the scheming, the cheating, etc. they’re usually the straight men to the white characters; living well off but boring lives and are rarely given front burner stories. all black people in a soap opera are usually always going to somehow know each other, only date each other, etc. you can switch black people out with latinos, asians, etc. and it would still be true. the characters of color are easily written off as a result of this.
in general, soap operas are very white - and still are today. they have a history of casting white people as mexican characters, ex. lindsay hartley as theresa on passions. asian american soap characters are severly lacking - i could probably count the amount of i’ve seen on screen. a black actress formerly on general hospital mentioned how people jokingly called the show ‘generally white hospital’ behind the scenes. chad.wick bos.eman left all my children because of how much of a stereotype his character was - and he was right ( ironically, michael b. jord.an was his recast ). some shows are getting better, bold and beautiful currently has a story involving two characters cheating ( one of which is black ) and it’s hot af but it’s still not enough for the times we’re in. this isn’t a problem exclusive to soaps either - most media has a problem with this. people of color aren’t getting lead roles and especially not romantic lead roles - even if they do, the shows always make it a interracial romance with a white person ( ex. bridg/erton ) as if people of color of different races are incapable of dating each other.
finally, i’ve noticed that you rarely see asian american men portrayed as romantic leads or desirable ( at least in a non-fetishized way ) in western media. that’s pretty lame:tm: so that was also a factor when i revamped audrey’s love interest ( parts of ‘old’ him still exist, ex. him being a jock / king of the school as a teen, a complicated relationship with his brother, etc ). anyway, stan august uwu.

Karlie Kloss interview for British Vogue August 2019 by Elaine Welteroth (Part 1)
* If you have a fan accoun and repost it, please give credit.
"It's so easy to go, go, go and not know why or where you're going", says Karlie Kloss. It is 5.01 am in an airport lounge in New York City, the Monday after a rare, weekend-long vacation - spent on a yatch in the Caribbean with her new husband and some friends - and the 6ft 2in model is in reflective mood. "Sometimes it's like, what are we all doing it for, you know?" Her bare skin glows preternaturally under the unforgiving fluorescent lighting, and a pensive expression spreads across her face as she leans in to ask her assistant, "Do you feel like 30 is a thing for you, too?" Nicolette - also in the second half of her twenties - nods: "Uh, yeah!". For a few moments, the two wax poetic about entering their "Saturn return", a buzz term among millennials that I loosely understand to be the astrological equivalent of a quarter-life crisis, or turning point. It is a curiously existential conversation for such an ungodly hour, but perhaps appropriate given Kloss's life over the past few years. The career of the 26-year-old catwalk queen from St. Louis, Missouri, one of the world's highest-earning models, has been a masterclass in modern diversifications: major contracts and endorsements deals; a much-lauded and smart-minded philanthropic project, Kode with Klossy, which trains young women across American in tech; and a blossoming television career as the newly arrived host of Project Runway (full disclosure, I am also a judge on the show, and have known Karlie for a few years). Then, of course, there's her recent marriage to 4-year-old venture capitalist Josh Kushner, who, judging by the way she lights up when he FaceTimes her, weighs heavily in her life's joy category.
"We literally held hands the entire night," Karlie recalls of their intimate wedding last October in the woods of upstate New York, where the couple share a cabin. Maria Grazia Chiuri designed the beautiful Dior couture gown for their nuptials. It was a romantic wedding fit for an American princess, though her prince's family ties to the White House - Kushner's brother Jared is a senior presidential advisor who happens to be married to Ivanka Trump - have admittedly complicated her fairy tail.
Naturally, it's an union that has become tabloid fodder, put under further scrutiny by Kloss's own political views. A fervent Democrat, as is her husband, Kloss has rallied for gun reform alongside teenage survivors of Parkland at last year's March For Our Lives, and been advocate for Planned Parenthood on Instagram. Yet what detractors tend to forget is that she and Josh fell in love more than seven years ago (Kloss was 19), long before anyone fathomed that a Trump presidency could become reality.
I find myself wondering how Kloss's activism goes down at the dinner table with her in-laws; it can't be an easy line to toe. "It's been hard," she says frankly. "But I choose to focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life."
Kloss takes one last sip of coffee and drapes a crisp peacoat over her shoulders, instantly dressing up her white Adidas tracksuit. We take a look at the day's agenda: land at 9am; head straight to a meeting about the next season of Project Runway; The Late Late Show with James Corden; a YouTube shoot with a vlogger known for bathing in cereal; a pre-Emmys panel with mandatory schmoozing; and dinner in Venice Beach. I remark that her work schedule seems Beyoncé-level intense, to which she replies, "No one beats Queen Beyoncé." She admits, however, to feeling guilty about taking any time off. "I only know one speed," she says.
To keep this many plates spinning you need a trustworthy team: cue the hire of megastar managers Penni Thow and Scooter Braun. But it is Kloss's own keen business instincts, her vision and work ethic, that really keep her ahead of the pack, transforming her from teenage model to one of the Forbes 30 under 30. Her investments read like a millenial must-have list, from Away luggage to the organic femenine hygiene brand Lola, and have expanded equity and influence beyond fashion. Even so, she maintains a healthy handful of fashion partnerships that often involve co-creating digital content and keep her flitting all over the globe. "I spend a lot of itme in the market in China," she notes. Her exclusive cotracts include Carolina Herrera, Adidas Woman, Estée Lauder and Express.
I trail Karlie to the gate as she wheels her carry-on luggage topped with a floppy Valentino tote customized with a KK monogram. On the place, her long limbs look even more extraordinary as she folds herself into the window seat. Without skipping a beat, she whips out facial wipers and begins applying generous layers of hand sanitiser, moisturiser, lip balm and hand lotion, finishing off with a DIY lymphatic massage. Pressing into the crevice where the neck and ears meet, she uses circular motions to "drain the toxins" - just like in her recent youTube video.
"I am deeply ambitious and driven, and there are a lot of big things I want to do - big things," she says as we hit the skies. "But I also want to enjoy the people I love and who love me. It's important that I have joy in my life." At this, she politcly excuses herself, pulls and eye mask over her lids and curls up under a blanket. Within seconds she is fast asleep.

What I’ve Been Consuming 04/06/20
In these times that seem like some prologue to an upcoming dystopian blockbuster movie release what is it that we are all spending our last days doing? Consuming mass amounts of media no doubt. Join me once again as I detail all the things I’ve read, watched, played, listened to or simply mused about.
Games
I downloaded Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and it is fun! Other than that it’s still mainly Mario Kart, but I did get back to Mario Odyssey for a bit.  Also, I dusted off my PS3, literally, and played some Black Ops online with some friends. Nothings changed, I’m still terrible at it, but it was fun to hang with some friends via the PS network.
Books/Comics
Continuing my binge of all things Emily St. John Mandel I finished the Lola Quartet. This is the third of her five books. It is as enthralling as her previous books that I’ve read and though I know the hook in her writing; disparate people seemingly unconnected eventually all connect in someway, her stories are no less enjoyable. Her characters are drawn as if pulled from one of your mother’s best recipes and they feel no less real and familiar.
I have also finished a couple of books from Marvel comics, Black Bolt TPB 1 and 2. The writing by Detroit born Saladin Ahmed is a solid tale on a character I found intriguing, but knew little about. Ahmed delivers a bingeable tale about a king that is broken down and built up again and learns the perils of those he rules over. The art by Christian Ward is solid and fluid, but suffers from an overly dark color pallet throughout. Also, he draws an absolutely hilarious Lockjaw. The first trade is a good series highly worth the read, while the follow up isn’t as revelatory as the first it is still quite interesting and adds more layers to the Black Bolt the Midnight King.
Music
In these time I’ve been falling back on many an old favorite, but some new faves have filled my ears as well. Bat For Lashes album “Lost Girls” delivers Natasha Khan’s familiar sound and shows some growth in the addition of a bit of pop to her dark mythical tales. This isn’t to say she’s abandoned what got her to the dance, but she has perhaps returned to her high school reunion older and wiser and more worldly. The opening track, “Kids in the Dark” would fit nicely in a Stranger Things montage and this song softly welcomed me tothe rest of the album. The closing track, “Mountains” starts out as an 8-bit game soundtrack before opening into a sprawling meditative anthem on lost love.
Having said that I recently gave her 2009 album “Two Suns” a listen and found it more of a comfort to me in these times. “Daniel” was a standout track on this album for me. A pulsing driving tone permeates the track and the lyrics declare a fairy tale of love and loss.
As I said earlier I’ve fallen back on some old favorites so I’ve had the Hamilton soundtrack on many a spin on my hard drive. Its songs give a kick to some of the monotony while also pushing me to get busy on some of new piece of art. “I’m not throwing away my shot!”
“Ill Communication” by the Beastie Boys has also brought me much joy lately.
Other standout tracks for me: Broken Arrow from Tori Amos’  “Native Invader” drips in with a trippy wah wah opening riff that sticks in your ear, “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.) by Jim James is a song that I just can’t get enough of and it gets a listen at least twice a day lately, another quite fine opening track is Finona Apple’s “Every Single Night”.
I also grabbed the two new Nine Inch Nails free albums, but haven’t spent much time with them.
Movies/TV
The bingeing commences at consistent pace? Perhaps. Maybe. In actuality I haven’t spent much more time watching tv than normal. Maybe. Regardless here’s what has numbed my brain and tickled my fancy.
Still keeping up with Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison of Homeland. It’s amazing how season three of this series makes Carrie an absolute monster so far (I’m halfway through) when she’s already proven to be batshit crazy.
Better Call Saul is still enthralling in every single way. If you’re not watching it, you’re not even playing.
Tiger King. I watched the first episode and it was a great intro for absolute berserker ludicrousness, but I just don’t need to see it. Shoulder shrug emoji.
I have fallen off of Counterpart as it was moving at a pace that felt like I was sleepwalking. I want to get back to it, but I’m not sure if I will.
Started watching Devs and I am very very into it! Bring on Nick Offerman’s weird hair and an absolutely sinister killer Zach Grenier (Ed Norton’s boss in Fight Club).
Re-watched World War Z  under the guise of “research”. I still really dig this movie.
Dived into the Clone Wars animated series as a recommendation from a friend. It’s good background tv with great animation. Growing up with the movies makes it easy to keep up with what’s going on. Episodes are a little over 20 minutes so after a couple of hours I feel like I’ve really accomplished a lot!
Absolutely gobbled up Netflix’s Next In Fashion. If you’re a Project Runway fan then you’ll be down with this new fashion series with Tan France from Queer Eye.  Or maybe you’ll never be able to let go of the OG’s Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. Agh! It seems you’ll miss them even more since some quick googling revealed to me that the most recent season doesn’t feature either of them. Ah, perhaps the end of days are truly upon us. Ah well, it seems we must all “Carry on”.
Westworld Season Three so far is fire! Also, I hate Aaron Paul’s hair.
Random bits. I’ve been super motivated lately and have finished two paintings in the past three weeks. I haven’t done that since college! Speaking of things not done since college, I ran 3.5 miles recently. Twice. Phew!
That’s all for now.
Please, please be safe out there. Tell your friends and family you love them. Then, tell them again. Hug your pets, wash your hands and stay 6 feet the hell away from me.

Week 9: Gender Explosion
Eugene Lee Yang
Eugene is known  a member of the four-man comedy group, The Try Guys, known for their YouTube videos in which they attempt a variety of challenges. Earlier this year, he came out as gay through a YouTube video, where he acted and danced out various points of his life as a gay man and the struggles he faced within his personal life. The video also acted as a fundraiser for the Trevor Project, a non-profit LGBT suicide prevention organization based in West Hollywood (the video currently has raised over $115,000).
youtube
Tumblr media
From my recollection, Eugene had always seemed comfortable in expressing himself through his clothing. He and the other three Try Guys (all of whom are straight) have been very comfortable in showing their feminine sides to the public, with many of their most popular videos being of all four doing drag, getting nail extensions, wearing high heels and dressing up in overtly sexual Halloween costumes. However, in the time leading up to and after his coming out, Eugene seems to have fully embrace himself and his style of fashion, knowing that the people around him, both co-workers and fans alike, will fully support him, and are willing to join alongside him in expressing themselves to the fullest.

Billy Porter
Billy Porter was originally known for his musical theatre roles, especially in his portrayal of Lola in Broadway’s Kinky Boots. Currently, he is widely recognized for his role of Pray Tell in the FX show, Pose, in which he won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the first openly gay black man to win such a category. It has also been announced that he will be taking on the role of Fairy Godmother in the upcoming reimagining of Cinderella by Sony Pictures.
youtube
In the past year or so, whenever Porter has been seen on any sort of carpet full of reporters and their cameras, be it the Met Gala or the Oscars, all heads would turn towards him as we would appear such extravagant outfits that he completely steals the show from his fellow stars. In a way, it was a refreshing sight to see a man be so comfortable in his person and be willing to express himself no matter what others may say. It has become such an exciting moment to see what Porter will wear at the next big event and see if he able to out-do himself from the last.

Janelle Monae
One of the few women I grew up admiring for breaking the barrier of gendered clothing was Janelle Monáe, a R&B singer turned actress, who was widely known for the preference of a tuxedo wardrobe in her early career. Much of her outfits were reminiscent of the dandy style, a fashion style worn by middle-class men to resemble the aristocracy, with a focus on a black-and-white color palette, with a splash of color here and there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monáe, who came out identifying as bisexual and pansexual in early 2018, claimed that her wearing androgynous outfits and having a public persona of an android was her way of protecting herself from the public’s judgement about herself and her lifestyle. She would avoid answering any questions regarding her sexuality in early interviews, explaining that the answer could be found in her music, both in her lyrics and videos, for those who are in a similar situation in figuring themselves out. It’s safe to say that I, personally, found Monáe in the right time in my life. While she is slowly letting go her tuxedo-based fashion sense as she builds herself up in Hollywood, there is still some semblance of her old career self that she is keeping with her, and hopefully will continue to hold in the future.

MY Top Ten Best Dressed Women at the Golden Globe Awards 2017
Every year, I always disagree with which dresses are labeled as the best at these award ceremonies by magazines, so this starting this year I have decided to start making my own list on the matter, as well as a short critique about each outfit. There will be separate post for worst dressed and men. (photos borrowed from Vogue and others)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Hailee Steinfeld wearing Vera Wang Collection
The tulle and chiffon dress draped is draped so beautifully. Hailee Steinfeld looked almost regal when walking down the red carpet wearing this gown. My one critique about her outfit is that her dress was a little long for her. For dresses with a train, it should only be dragging on the floor in the back, not the front. Still, she pulled it off beautifully.
Tumblr media
2. Naomi Campbell wearing Atelier Versace from Fall 2016.
The swirling of fabric on Naomi Campbell’s dress looked like a work of art.  Shimmery black fabric that was peaking through made this dress sparkle. My one critique on her outfit would be to have a diamond bracelet rather than a red one. The red bracelet stands out too much when placed next to the pale lavender dress.
Tumblr media
3. Gwendoline Christie paired her Vivienne Westwood gown with asymmetrical earrings by Ara Vartanian.
Gwendoline Christie looked like a Greek goddess in this creamy dress by Vivienne Westwood. The dress was perfectly tailored to her figure. My one critique for her would be that she should pair this up with some bold lipstick. A nice deep colored matte lipstick would be great with this look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Lily Collins wearing a Zuhair Murad
This princess-like gown looked like a fairy tale on Lily Collins.  The silhouette of the gown itself was perfect for her figure. The embellished gown was expertly made, not a thread out of place. Instead of wearing red lipstick though, she should have opted for either a nude tone, or a dark maroon tone. The red lipstick stands out too much for a dress with embellishments. When wearing a dress with embellishments you want to show off the dress not divert someone’s attention elsewhere.
Tumblr media
5. Brie Larson wearing a Rodarte
This red gown made Brie Larson look timeless. The classical silhouette helped her to channel the classic old Hollywood look. Though she looked beautiful in this outfit, she should have paired this look up with a diamond necklace. Also again, like many other stars, her dress was too long and badly needed to be hemmed. You can tell this by the way the fabric is folding inwardly at the bottom left of the gown.
Tumblr media
6. Sophie Turner wearing Louis Vuitton
Some people say that this dress was too much to handle. Personally I think that Sophie Turner pulled off this sultry number. Pulling off a sleek dress like this one is a hard task to handle and she did it flawlessly. It was also announced that she is the brand new brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton. (Sophie Turner if you are reading this, congrats!!)
Tumblr media
7. Blake Lively wore a custom-made Atelier Versace velvet gown, encrusted with Swarovski crystals.
This velvet gown encrusted with Swarovski crystals made Blake Lively look dazzling. This is another classical Hollywood silhouette that was well pulled off. My critique for her would be to get that dressed hemmed. Honestly I don’t understand why so many of these stars forget that these dresses need to be hemmed! Also emerald chandelier earrings would have been a beautiful match with her emerald bracelets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. Maisie Williams wearing Ong-Oaj Pairam
Maisie Williams looked like a modern day Audrey Hepburn in this yellow dress. Normally I hate yellow dresses, but this might be an exception. Everything about her look was spot on. Though she looked great, she should have had an assistant there with her to help her with the train. It was very sweet of Sophie Turner to help Maisie out, it wasn’t very professional.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Lola Kirke wearing Andrew Gn
Lola Kirke certainly caused an uproar over the way she looked. Let’s not talk about her armpits here though, I think that one is a no brainer. Instead let’s talk about what she wore. This gown looked so sweet on her that I could almost get cavities from it! The embroidery was fantastic. Also her “Fuck Paul Ryan” pin matched the shade of her dress so perfectly that I did not even notice she was wearing it until Elle Magazine mentioned it. I commend her for voicing her political opinion, but I have to say one thing. If you are going to make a statement, make that pin bigger. ;)
Tumblr media
10. Nicole Kidman wearing an Alexander McQueen.
This Alexander McQueen dress is dazzling in concept and in embroidery, but there is a reason why I have her at the bottom of the list. The dress didn’t fit her too well at the bust. The straps of the dress where way too loose on her! Not only that but her hair would have looked better if it were in a neat bun rather than the loose updo that she wore here.
Well I guess that wraps up the best dressed women! Don’t agree with me or the media about who is best dressed? Make your own post saying who you think dressed best! The fashion industry strives on the opinions of the public.

Critical Journal Thinking
For the past few weeks I have been deciding what to write the essay on, beginning with looking into paracosms, Shrek/fairy tales, women’s fashion and costume, cross-dressing, looking at  silent films such as The Artist(2011) Nosferatu(1922) and a Trip to the Moon (1902). Watching films by directors Fellini, Hitchcock, Spielberg, Tom Tykwer. I have been writing a lot using the Cut Up technique by William Boroughs and Brian Gysin. I have mainly been motivated to do creative writing and to learn more about writing. I considered doing an essay on language and comparing language used within different genres of films, or comparing a book to its film adaptation, or take a feminist stance and compare the language used by women characters in comparison to male.
I want to create a short film from a story I have written. I am interested in creating questions through my work and answering questions through making rather than writing an essay.
Key themes that pop up from past work: childhood, playfulness, make believe.
Currently I am unsure if it is the still or moving image of the cinematic which I am drawn to. But I enjoy the process of filming and recording videos better than photographing.
I have an idea to structure it by looking at
Writing (Creative Writing, Script to Screen, Narrative structures, Character Development?)
Painting (Lighting, Composition, Symbolism, Colour, Philosophy of making films as if a painting - poetic images)
Performance(Directing, Acting, Performance Art - Alter Egos, Character Development ).
Then relating this all back to the cinematic and grounding it in research relating these practices to film and the adaptation to screen.
In terms of talking about past work, I can talk about a few projects in relation to painting, and performance section although writing is more of a new tool - apart from when I was a child and using creative writing as an outlet. I am interested to reflect on some old pieces of work and reference them, but I mainly want to focus on pushing my current work and future work. I think by making a short film by December, this will significantly help me to go into the next semester with a lot of new knowledge and experience in filmmaking. It will give me confidence and I will face organisation and technical challenges which I am sure I will learn from. I am planning on showing a film for my degree show so this will either be used for that or more likely help to create the next one and a new basis for making. In the future after GSA I want to work on films. Mainly I want to make my own but I want to gain experience from other practitioners and work behind the camera. As I am passionate about this way of seeing and enjoy the process of filming/looking through a lens and getting into that trance. In summer I worked as a production assistant for a 6 episode comedy webseries called FEM101. From this energy on set and talking to other creatives in the field, it confirmed that this is an area I would like to work in. However I also am interested in making more finart/expressive work/avant garde/exploring themes in an abstract way.
In terms of practitioners, I take inspiration from artists in all of these disciplines and can talk about them in each section
Performance
I did my source review on Hollywood/Independent filmmakers takes on directing, and I think this will be useful for the Performance section for sources and ideas on how to direct.
I was thinking that it could be partly to do with adopting a persona as a director, and also to adopt a method of helping people to perform. - So I will look through different methods and decide which ones I will implement. The director could be a man from New Zealand (For some reason when I do the New Zealand accent it makes me way more outgoing, I also love Flight of the Conchords which is why I started practicing it- Comedy TV musical show/parody.)  His name could be called Gino (A name that cropped up in a creative writing piece I did describing a room I was in).
“She bought expensive art that she knew nothing about. One of the new editions in her luxury apartment was - diagram of drawing.. labeled: Smears of paint - red and black- on a white background. Looks like shit and blood smeared across. Some writing scattered about faintly in the background - A man called Gino has signed it using black paint in the bottom right hand corner.”
An alter ego for this film who will help the work to be generated and for me to have more confidence when directing/ to lose inhibitions.
- make a background/foreground for Gino similar to Run Lola Run where they introduce small characters/ people walking along the street by displaying 6 photographs or so of them in the future, showing what happens to them (and that is all you find out about them in the whole film).
This would not be shown in the film.. Probably.. But would kind of be more for the generation of the character and for myself/ people I am working with to find out a bit more about him. Probably am going to enjoy this part a lot, that maybe it will be a separate project in itself.
Also to read up on performance video art and understand how my work relates to that. I have a few of old projects I can talk about in this section in relation to video performance and past experience as director from which I can learn from. (Both separate from each other)
The work I most enjoy to see/relate to in galleries tends to be video performance work, especially when people adopt personas on camera and are parodying characters. Although I have not done much reading into these states. But I know that is a way I would like to make more of my work.
A recurring theme in my work has been Make believe - All stemming from childhood and the process of play which you are able to inhibit so easily when a child. I spent most of my childhood playing playmobil, playing sims, and playing make believe where you pretend to be in different scenarios or characters.
I am interested in anthropomorphism and projecting characters onto objects and personifying them. I like creatures and weird looking things, maybe a bit creepy. But I prefer for things to be humorous than scary.
Think about sound/music - setting a mood while filming to help.- not necessarily use that sound though in the film
[1] Robert Edgar-Hunt, Basic Film-Making 03; Directing Fiction , AVA Publishing p.30
Paintings
I also did my curation essay purely on paintings - I could potentially look back at these paintings
- although they are less traditionally cinematic and more figurative abstractions. One of the most interesting projects on our course (COM DES) was when we turned a painting into a film piece. We used otto dix painting for ours. Interesting starting point for generating work which I have wanted to use again.
Also could look at diff paintings, see what I like about them and try and link that together to form a theme for this work.
Also look at David Lynch philosophy on painting through film
And Francis Bacon talking about painting - reminded me of my experience of filmmaking.
Looking at the relationship between painting and filmmaking - want to use this to improve my cinematic lighting- have a really useful book for this called Art History for Filmmakers.
In this section I will talk a lot about the technical side of the process - the compositional side. Why all aesthetics have been taken into consideration or not.
Bringing in techniques like Tableux Vivant into a scene in the film.
Look at Russian Ark (2002) by director Alexander Sokurov. Dp. Tilman Buttner
-unseen narrator is played by the camera (point of view shot).”Watching the film, one cannot help noticing that the Hermitage museum, which is filled with art from every period of human history, acts as point and counterpoint to the action on the screen. The paintings and sculptures of the museum are as much a part of the cast as are the actors. “
Queen Christina 1933 Dir. Rouben Mamoulian, “Scenes reminiscent of traditional court painting, like ‘The PersiaVermee painters crucial 2 light. Lighting tells us where to look. “The language” of lighting in film derives from lighting in painting, developed over 100 years since the Renaissance. Oil paint allowed for this,
Rembrandt and Caravaggio use light/dark contrast (chiaroscuro) for psychological purposes.
Potentially in
Black and White- chosen as recently been drawing in black on white paper and this is helping me to go back to basics, i find that now when i add colour it improves my drawings significantly, But i need to set limitations to help to push areas which I am not so good at. Eg) lighting
Writing
Discuss what I have written in blog already about writing.
“A key skill to develop is the interpretation of a script. For new directors it is good practice to realise the scripts generated by other writers. In this way, it is possible to see what it takes to move a script to the screen and where confusion may arise..Take a script for a major film and see what happened in the process of the translation to the screen. The script is a template for a director, but also for the heads of department and the actors.” [1]
I am trying to develop writing which will help me to form a script/visuals/narrative for my film.
Ways to develop writing: cut up technique - then look at themes within that, that i am interested in, improve writing from cut up. Look at Elements of Eloquence, listen to Werner Herzog. He says about writing and writing to a top calibre. Then think about translating from script to screen.
Story telling and ways of telling stories, narrative, setting, place, character, considering all of these
Questions to consider from canvas:
Context for your studio work
-critical/theoretical and practical contexts for your current studio practice. What category of art or design do you see your work belonging to and why? What are the issues, questions of concerns which motivate your work? What critical terms or thinkers have informed your work and your perspective upon the work of others? What historical precedents or contemporary examples help you to reach that conclusion? This section should make reference to examples of your recent and current studio work.
Current status of studio work and developments to date:
Reference old work - With reference to precedents mentioned in the context section where possible, set out the main decisions and departures of your studio progress.
where does your work differ and depart from precedents(earlier work/actions)? And why? What did u learn through practice that made you change direction or consolidate your studio activity? What difficulties emerged from new directions or experiments studio. How were these addressed through your processes, research methods and outputs. This section should be carefully supported by illustrations of your recent and current studio practice.
Future : assess the pros and cons of future direction for your studio work. As with first two sections you must remember to make sustained reference to your research and reading throughout, reflecting on the work of those artists or designers or writers who have been in similar fields. This is an opportunity for you to critically propose and defend ideas which may inform research towards your degree show presentation, based on earlier sections of journal.
