Auntie Antics
CHARLEY’S AUNT The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham, Saturday 29th June 2024 I manage to catch the production’s last in-house performance in the Ron Barber Studio before it embarks on a tour of stately homes around the region.  First appearing in 1892, Brandon Thomas’s play is a quintessential old-school farce that basically involves two well-to-do cheps at Oxford recruiting a third to impersonate…

March '24 Wrap Up
The Mistress of Bhatia Hill ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Historical Mystery
Thoughts: I liked the mystery and Perveen is as always, a great protagonist to follow. There was one plot line that didn't get resolved but maybe it will in the next book when it comes out?
The Girl Who Drank the Moon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Middle-grade fantasy
Thoughts: This book is so cute and wholesome and also the villain was terrifying. I now want my adopted family (even though I'm an adult) to be a poetic swamp creature who is as old as the Earth, a kind, but grumpy ancient witch, and a pocket-sized dragon who acts like a five year old child in the best way.
The Bone Shard Emperor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Fantasy
Thoughts: I binged this book over spring break. I liked this one more than the first; the plot was more intriguing and the climax was so good. I also really liked the characters going to other islands and seeing more of this world.
Dune Messiah ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Classic Science Fiction
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book; it was similar to the first one with pacing and politics. I liked seeing the rest of Paul's story but I didn't really like what happened with Alia's character.
Keeper of the Lost Cities ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Middle-grade fantasy
Thoughts: I adored my reread of this book so much! I love Sophie as a main character and her friendship with Dex was the highlight of the book for me.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Genre: Mystery
Thoughts: I did not want to read this book. It didn't seem like the type of story I would like and I was afraid it was overhyped. So when I had to read it for a class, I was not excited. But oh my word, I loved this book so much more than I thought I would! Pip is amazing she's so sarcastic and determined and Ravi is such a sweetheart. I did not guess Andie's killer, and the ending shocked me. I also got emotional multiple times reading it and that surprised me.
I have a tag list for when I do wrap ups! If you want to be added or taken off of it, please let me know!

Strange-Blossom turn 2: Howe
Tumblr media
Expanding the family already - insanity, pure insanity. They rolled the want to have kids at the same time.
Sadly both first time it happened (first turn) and second they did not manage to get pregnant so that leaves them with one try before I say they can adopt because they are just struggling with infertility.
Sorry lie, literally the next day before Regina went to work they did it autonomously and it clicked, whatever! Still I'll write it down somewhere that like it's unlikely they will ever get another kid this way.
Tumblr media
Half-sister came to visit and brought a friend, we talked about education and Lazlo told Lola why he isn't keeping contact with his brothers any longer. Circe really knew how to break up a family.
Tumblr media
Jenny didn't pick up but we did manage to call only Millie and get her to sneak away from Circe's gaze. Mainly to check if she is alright.
Tumblr media
She very much is fine - at least that's what Lazlo gathered. Circe wants to be called her mum and our man here learned she had twins. To which his reaction would be: ew!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regina is probably the sanest person in her life at this moment which is really funny to me.
Tumblr media
On Monday their daughter was born. Named after Lazlo's mom Kitty Curious. I also just now realized Regina should be called Crystal Vu but because Strangetown is a subhood I bet it just re-rolled townie names which is hilarious. I'm a bit too used to calling her Regina now though so I won't be changing it.
Kitty-Anne is blonde with brown eyes and her parent's skin tone.

I had a vision and I HAD TO HAD TO shake it out of my system. My bestie told me that Pyra's actor in the second Silent Hill movie is a ballet dancer, and I could not get this image out of my head.
This is Lola! She's one of my DBD characters, read more about her here! Please!

In and Out
HOUSE and GARDEN The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham, Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th February 2024 That ever-ambitious lot at the Crescent have chosen to mark the theatre’s centenary by staging Alan Ayckbourn’s double-bill, where two plays run simultaneously, one on the main stage and the other in the studio, but (here’s the rub) there is only one cast between the two.  When someone leaves the house,…

❓🎮🍝🗒️
@lunarxdaydream | Munday Asks! | Accepting
❓ — three adjectives that describe you
particular, hard-working, loud (mainly around people im comfortable with)
🎮 — favorite video game(s)?
K.atamari (pretty much any game, D.amacy is one of my comfort games), FFXIV (probably what I play the most rn) and S.kyrim (binged it as a teen with my brother). I also have a lot of mobile matching games I like to play.
🍝 — favorite food(s)?
Chicken/pork adobo (a Filipino dish where you marinate meat/vegetables in s=vinegar, soy sauce, bay leaves and black peppercorns, slowly simmer so its perfectly fall apart and usually serve over white rice). Its a childhood favorite and I probably make it twice a month with different meats.
Also palitaw which is a sweet rice cake. Its super soft yummy rice cakes with coconut and a sugar mixture on top. Sooooooo good!!
🗒️— what is/are your favorite genre(s)/theme(s) to write?
Fantasy (fairly obvious from this blog cause...no humans present;;;;) and Romance (ships ahoy!!!!). I also enjoy a good dark origin story, I'm super guilty of killing off many a family member simply for dramatic effect.

Lola: You know what?
Bugs: Hmm?
Lola: You're pretty cute without your gloves on.
Bugs: [laughs] Gosh! Is that supposed to be some kind of compliment?
Lola: No. This is.
[Lola kisses Bugs.]

Despite our best efforts, the names on our list are only those who had the privilege of recognition, the fortune of discovery, or the extraordinary courage to leave indelible proof of their true selves for us to mourn. So many unknown and uncounted people remain that even years from now we will learn the names of people in our community who died this year without the recognition they deserved.

Strange-Blossom turn 2: Singles
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bewitched at the roller rink, flabbergasted at her sister's big ass bed. What's new? (Fiery, burning passion)
Tumblr media
An interrupted date with the good witch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least it's some good sim points for our persona. We walked back home. Found Lola Curious passionately cuddling with her new girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Second date was mostly for playing red hands and becoming good friends cause that's what Chloe wanted.
Sister was behaving well at work and apparently we were behaving well enough to become... a witch? THAT WAS BY ACCIDENT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is how I will sum all of this up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After third date we became booooored.
Tumblr media
Okay. Sure. Kristine was the only one home and uh failing to do anything about the fire. She did NOTHING about it and the sisters managed to come back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOW THE HELL DID THEY DO IT?
Tumblr media
It is a tragic day for the gays. What the hell? Kristine nooo- I actually liked her oh my god.
Tumblr media
... How do I even comment on this. Our date didn't even know Chloe died because we got a date present.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is dead. Dead. You will not call her because she is not alive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We still got a promotion and the best of our brothers showed up to cheer us up and that was it for the turn. Now she is true to her name. Single in the singles household.

[“It was only after I came out as a dyke that, for the first time in my life, I felt ready to celebrate being a girl, and I did. Actually, I overdid. Armed with Esther Newton’s Mother Camp, Judith Butler’s Gender Trouble, and Joan Nestle’s A Restricted Country, I embraced femme. I dressed up in short flowery dresses, pushup bras, satin panties, and lacy stockings. I paid great attention to my long, curly, perfectly-coiffed hair, my glamorous makeup, and especially my pouty lips. I spritzed Lola’s smell on my skin—Estee Lauder’s Private Collection—and painted my nails. I wore all of it with black combat boots and a brilliant sense of irony. I reveled in my girliness, went over the top, learned how to tweeze my eyebrows and line my lips with a lip pencil.
My gender presentation was unmistakable: blatant female sexuality. I was a proud, in-your-face, take-no-prisoners, uppity, don’t-assume-I’m-straight-because-I-wear-lipstick-and-dresses femme dyke. Because femmes are always assumed to be straight or sleeping with men, and I do sleep with men, I made sure to always have a butch on my arm so I’d be read as femme. Even though I was sure I’d be mistaken for straight, the boys took one look at me and steered clear. It was as if I was too much of a woman for them to handle, like I was a handful, and I was. But butch girls love a handful—a handful of tits, a handful of ass, a girl who needs to be handled, a girl who can handle herself.
How I figured out I was a femme had a lot to do with the women I was attracted to and the dynamic between us. When I was in junior high, I used to mess around with a friend of mine named Angela. Angela was one of those girls who developed early; I remember she had big breasts in like sixth grade. We mostly kissed and touched over clothes, and we played out various boy-girl scenarios. I was always the girl—my early femme roots. My favorite of all our little scenes was the one where she was my male boss and I was the secretary. The boss made me have sex with him and told me if I didn’t I would get fired. Now this was all before Clarence Thomas, Anita Hill and the media awareness/obsession with sexual harassment. I remember she’d tell me to suck her dick and push my face unmercifully into her crotch, which smelled amazing,. The drama of it all—the force, the degradation, the power games—really got me off. After that, there was no going back to simplicity. I was hooked on the power.
Jen really epitomized all the girls I was attracted to then and still am. Being with a butch girl, I was valued for my combination of strength and vulnerability, for dressing up, for wanting an arm to hold onto, hips to wrap my legs around, being able to give my body over to her and say, I trust you, I’m yours. My butch loved me in low-cut dresses, appreciated my sexual voraciousness, worshipped my inner slut. I reveled in the fact that I could be strong and submissive all at once. Surrender and still be a feminist. Being a dyke is not just about who I fuck and love, it’s about being a girl who doesn’t play by the rules.
Butch girls don’t play by the rules either, and I love butch girls. Girls with hair so short you can barely slide it between two fingers to hold on. Girls with slick, shiny, barbershop haircuts and shirts that button the other way. Girls that swagger. Girls who have dicks made of flesh and silicone and latex and magic. Girls who get stared at in the ladies room, girls who shop in the boy’s department, girls who live every moment looking like they weren’t supposed to. Girls with hands that touch me like they have been touching my body their entire lives. Girls who have big cocks, love blow-jobs, and like to fuck girls hard. Every day, it is the girls that get called Sir that make me catch my breath, the girls with strong jaws that buckle my knees, the girls who are a different gender that make me want to lie down for them.
Someone else said it about me recently and it’s right on target: “She gets off on all different sorts of people sexually, but she falls for butches.” Like the poet who bought her first strap-on with me and then wanted to sleep with it on. The shrink-in-training who got harassed every time she drove down South. She did look so much like a fifteen-year-old boy: blue button-down shirts, neatly-combed blond hair. The ad exec who had names for her dildos and used to love for me to spit-shine her wingtips. The photographer whose face was so mannish she could pass almost anywhere. The writer who wanted a body like Loren Cameron’s. The telephone repairwoman who drove a truck. The cook who had a boy’s name. The academic who got cruised by gay men on Castro Street. The cornfed farmboy from the Heartland with arms so hard and strong you swear they’ve been working the land, not the iron at the gym.
And there’s the one who’s got the James Dean stare down, and dresses like a clean-cut fag, and looks at me like she could look at me forever and never blink or grow tired or move from the spot she’s in. She’s a girl who loves girls like me—girls in velvet bras, girls who want to surrender to her mouth. She’s a girl who isn’t afraid to throw a femme down on the bed and fuck her. Possess her. My kind of girl. This girl is different.”]
tristan taormino, from this girl is different, from a woman like that: lesbian and bisexual writers tell their coming out stories, 2000
