let's talk about keegan being ashamed that he has feelings for logan because i love pathetic men.

his shame rooted in understanding that logan can and probably will do better than sergeant russ. youngest walker is handsome and his life even in current circumstances is more than that war. he seen more, felt more, tried more. he has family, he knows how does it feel to have good memories of childhood and adolescence. he knows all perks of civilian life because he experienced them firsthand. even if his father trained both of walkers like it was military camp.

and keegan? his life started when he almost died at his first mission. he's a good soldier, but this is it. his whole life is battlefields and missions. he tried once to adjust to civil life like for example elias or kick but it didn't work out. there were nothing appealing for him because he has everything meaningful in s.t.a.l.k.e.r.

and it's not like logan interested in him romantically. to be honest, keegan can't tell if he really interested in anything else that isn't his brother riley or rifles. he himself a closeted person and silent most of the times, but logan is on another level. he didn't ask elias or hesh why youngest walker doesn't speak partially because keegan sensed that there's some tragic story behind and he's in no a position to speak about it.

plus, it's actually a fraternisation to be romantically involved with your fellow soldier. and in given situation it most likely would end to elias sign him off to single operations far away from logan.

so yes, he's least fitting candidate for logan to date for many reasons. but sometimes keegan dreams about it anyway. for example, when logan leans too close on briefing and touches his shoulder. or when he smiles at his dad jokes. or when he scoots over seeking for a better position.

sergeant russ is a simple man so he sticks with that and dreams about more.

You didn’t wait any longer—you just walked up to him, arms wrapping around his neck. His eyes met yours, and God, it was so hard to be honest while looking into them. It seemed just as hard for him.

He was stunned, motionless, but his gaze remained stoic, unreadable.

“I love you,” you murmured, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

He took a moment, then let out a stiff chuckle. “Must be the champain messing with your little head.”

“Shut up. I said it… I love you.” The second time, your voice was firmer. That’s when his eyes softened, a rare smile tugging at his lips—your first time seeing him like this. Gentle.

For a long time, he doesn’t speak. The silence stretches, heavy—almost unbearable.

Then, finally, he whispers—so quiet you almost miss it.

His fingers close over yours, grip tightening as if grounding himself in the moment.
