Independence Day is right around the corner, and nobody knows American pride like the stars of country music. “Music — especially country music — brings people together no matter what,” Chris Lucas of LoCash shares exclusively in the latest edition of Us Weekly, on newsstands now. “Music just tends to bring everyone together in America.” The country music duo, which consists of Lucas and Preston…

My introduction that I chose is sunsets. The reason I chose sunsets is because I really enjoy that time of day. The best feeling for me is sitting outside with a group of friends, listening to music, and watching the sun go down. The first song that I chose is a country song called “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset by Luke Bryan. The theme of this song relates to sunsets because it talks about summertime and being outside in the country. It relates to a group of friends hanging outside all summer long waiting for the sun to go down. The tone of the song is very upbeat, and positive. It's a song that you definitely want to listen to during the summer time in a group setting. The second song I chose is a rap song by J. Cole called Sunset. This is a rap song that has a very fast beat. In my opinion rap songs are harder to understand. However, if I had to choose a theme for this song it would be about making money before the sun goes down. It doesn’t necessarily have a whole theme about a sunset, however, the idea is to work hard to earn money before the sun goes down everyday. The song has a very vague melody, as they talk in the same tempo the entire song. The third song I chose is a rock song by Pink Floyd called Two Suns in the Sunset. The theme of the song is essentially one day two comets will collide over the face of the earth and will result in the sign of the cross. The tone of this song is very calming. I really like Pink Floyd's songs as they are very easy to understand and he has a unique voice to go along with the lyrics. The fourth song I chose is Sunrise Over Sunset which is a heavy metal song. This is another song that is a little hard to understand because of all the instruments and the loud singing. The emotion in this song is very passionate. You can tell the band is very into what they are singing and that they love what they do. The mood of this song is almost intimidating because of the way the artist is going about the lyrics. It's very high pitched and loud which makes the listener really have to listen. The fifth song I chose is When the evening sun goes down which is a rhythm and blues song. The mood of this song is very happy and upbeat as well. It has a good rhythm to the song that helps you follow the lyrics throughout the song. The theme of the song is all about the sun going down after work. The melody of the song is very classical and smooth. The beat matches from the start of the song until the finish. The last song I chose is Sipping Sunsets which is another country song. Right off the jump you can feel the country in this song. The theme of this song is about finding a partner and spending time by the sunset. The tone of this song is very relaxing as it relates to everything I enjoy doing. I connect with this song because my friends and I love spending time outdoors hanging out with one another.

“I get the same feeling walking into the Opry House as I do when I see one of my heroes.”
Blake Shelton
This morning was our morning to depart Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and make our way west to Nashville. We were all loaded and on the road by 9:30 with a plan to take a secondary biway for a portion of the trip to see some local sights before connecting with the 40. We stopped for gas in a little town and I asked Syl to grab me a muffin in what might be one of the funnier names establishments that we have seen “Buck’n Donuts”. As no muffins were available he instead brought out the yummiest eclairs which we shared with gusto.
Travel along the highways was uneventful. A group of convicts wearing orange and white striped clothing and cleaning the roadside was about the most exciting thing. We stopped at a rest stop outside Nashville for a stretch and a bathroom break. Syl initially parked in a state trooper spot but we quickly remedied that.
Once in Nashville, we headed straight to our hotel which was all ready for us despite our arrival a bit before regular check in time. The hotel the Home 2 Stay by Hilton and is lovely and clean and quite conveniently located. It has a tiny kitchenette and enough space for us to make our stay in Nashville pleasant.
After we got unpacked, it was time to head to lunch and we found that at Republic Burger in The Gulch. Not knowing very much about Nashville yet, it appears that The Gulch is a trendy place - given away by the large Lululemon, a specialty candle store and a boutique that specialized in bathrobes (if the window display was any indication). Lunch was really super. The burgers were delicious.
I drove on the way back to the hotel and through a combination of Syl directing using a hand drawn tourist map, multiple road closures due to construction and finally the GPS we saw most of Nashville including Broadway St where we rolled down the windows to listen to the music. We traveled on streets named after Rosa Parks, Dr Martin Luther King and John Lewis and 2nd Avenue right through to 11. We were literally EVERYWHERE.
Our tickets to the Grand Ol’ Opry were for the 7 o’clock show and so we went home to spiff up and have a little rest before heading out again.
The Grand Ol’ Opry was an easy drive and the ticket app was slick at getting us to our parking spot right at the bridge to the entrance and into the show itself. The grounds are beautiful.
The countdown to the show built our excitement and when the curtain finally rose and the music began to play it was the quickest two hours of my life. Wow! Blanco Brown, Randall King, LOCASH, Julia Cole, Kassi Ashton (loved her), Brantley Gilbert, Sister Sadie, Jeannie Seely were the acts. Julien’s favourite was LOCASH who brought their little girls out to be with them on the stage and encouraged everyone to get up and dance. There was a surprise visitor - Charles Esten who co-wrote a song with Julia Cole which they performed. He also performed with LOCASH. He is also an actor from the show Nashville and Outerbanks.
After the show we went to the Opry Shop where I indulged in post Opry splurge spending (everyone needs a GOO golf ball right?!). Back to the hotel after a quick stop at the local 7 Eleven (some scary looking dudes were also there), and a late night toast and cereal snack before bed closed our incredible day.
