Jump Festa 2025 illustration
TL:
Legendary idol group "B- Masurao" [丈夫 or 益荒男 (masurao) is a manly/ brave man or warrior or hero. So it could be "B-Heroes" or "B-Tough"]
The group is centered around the legendary idol Oi, the national citizen Deku, the national air conditioner Shoto, national local thug, Dynamight.
I've been reading Oshi no Ko recently and I'm hooked, so I drew an idol-like image. I hope you enjoy Jump Festa!

Still thinking about the new Defunctland video and I am happy that this time, Defunctland managed to UNITE Latin Americans, Southeast Asians, AND older Americans through ONE video.
The Kid City video felt like Defunctland saw that some of his non-US audiences noticed that his content, while amazing, are very US-centric (though not his fault), and decided to cover a theme park trend that came from outside of the US (and is big outside of the US) this time.
I know that it's probably coincidental. He probably intended the new video to be ABOUT the American theme park chain Wannado but during his research, discovered that the concept of Wannado originated in Mexico and through that, found out about La Ciudad De Los Niños (part of the origin story of Wannado -- which came from Mexico, and is big in Latin America) and Kidzania (which took off in Asia), then....well, the video now is about something that non-US audiences can reminisce for once!
That's MAGIC and now i feel glad that now I can follow Tumblr's Defunctland reaction posts without feeling left out for not being American, for once.
It's also interesting how some Southeast Asians latched onto discussions about La Ciudad De Los Niños with Latin Americans in the wake of this video too. Truly, Kevin Perjurer has ignited a small Latin American-Southeast Asian solidarity moment.
On a more humorous note I see a number of Americans going "wait we do not have this in the US" (since Wannado closed in 2011) and I'm here like "THE TABLES HAVE TURNED, AMERICANS. WE SOUTHEAST ASIANS CAN HAVE OUR DEFUNCTLAND MOMENT NOW"

Jevilary Day 23: Crossdressing My Cosplay/Cos-coord Idea.
Concrit is so welcome lol.
Design Notes:
Originally I intended to be ouji kei Jevil, but the carousel skirt came to me in a dream last month, so EGL it is.
If you make this, you could elevate this by adding the tail, but that sounds Not Fun to me (to try and make it and attach it and move around it? nahhhhhh)
I also was gonna add a back bow to the skirt's waist band, but thought not to because of the cape.
Another element you could add would be bells to the cape and collar. I will probably maybe add his bells to the hat. I just know I am the type of person that does not like to make too many noises when I walk (I had to remove my keychains from my purse because they were Loud that's the threshold we are talking about).
It would be good to add the Devilsknife for recognizability. Especially if going with the optional color scheme (sorry, Jevil, I never cared for the clashing green and yellow... The alt color scheme is more important if I want to wear individual pieces of this cosplay in my regular wardrobe. If that doesn't happen, the colors are less of a consideration.)
The skirt can use some work? I notoriously don't wear prints in my EGL wardrobe lol- I only buy solids- so this was my attempt and embellishment.
Third in line to cosplay behind tumblr Paige DHMIS humanization and the Grey Faerie from Neopets.
My sewing experience is actually pretty limited so lolll I predict I'll cry at least four times on the blouse and three times more on everything else.

🐠 Daily Fish Fact: 🐠
*Finding Nemo Series #4*
The Morrish Idol's unusual name was given to it, because in some areas of south-east Asia fishermen have respect for these fishes, releasing them when caught and honouring them with a bow after their release. The genus name Zanclusis derived from zanklon, meaning "sickle", and is an allusion to the long curved dorsal fin.

Watching You and Idol Precure has been fun so far. But the subs I'm watching definitely reminds me why I have a distaste for certain fan subs and purists who hype them up.
In the show, the girls have catchphrases and onomotopeia associated with them. These catchphrases are based on Japanese wordplay that doesn't entirely exist in English, mostly "Kirakira" which refers to "shining" or "sparkling".
When subs leave these untranslated, meaning becomes lost on anyone not familiar with these things. But it's damned if you do, damned if you don't because one of the characters onomotopeia is part of her hero name.
I just saw a line that was(roughly) "Her kirakirala made her heart go kyun-kyun!"
I understand what's being said here, but holy hell, I can't imagine how much this looks like nonsense to someone who's not versed in Japanese phrases and wordplay.

on critical thinking (and Sayaka Maizono)
i think what happens a lot in Danganronpa, and with Fandom in particular, is that people assume the Problematic Narrative Issues most stories have ALWAYS exist. we end up so used to seeing the Annoying or Problematic thing we sometimes feel like it's there when it isn't. combine that with underused media literacy/critical thinking skills and it's often a recipe for misplaced anger and weird character interpretations.
as a random example: i see Sayaka's treatment maligned a lot as Sexist/Misogynist. it does look like that on the surface, right? she's the cute idol girl love interest, and she dies first in a selfish grab to get out of the school, attempting to pin Male Normie Protag for a crime he didn't commit. ask yourself, though: is this narrative Sexist, or have i seen similar shitty Snake in the Grass Succubus Harpy Girl Attacking The Innocent Bunny Man type narratives so much that i'm projecting? finding evidence of Misogyny that isn't there?
related questions, both in general and for this situation specifically:
how does this situation relate to the themes of the story, to Makoto's arc, to the arc(s) of the rest of the characters?
does Sayaka have depth? or is she just a plot device for Makoto and the others?
what about the rest of the women/femme-aligned folks in the Narrative? are they only there for similar reasons as Sayaka?
especially with something like Danganronpa (translated/localized), what is the original connotation of the text (if available)? are there cultural nuances i might have Missed?
what are other examples i've seen of this situation in other unrelated works? is it Similar? not really that Similar at all?
what might the writers have intended? what is/are their Background(s)?
who is the intended market/audience?
how long has it been since i've played the Game (or read the book, etc)? am i misremembering something from the Game?
related to the above, am i letting Fandom/Fanon/Chuds on Reddit color a lot of my perception because i haven't interacted with the canon in a while?
and of course, to reiterate my first point: have i seen this narrative done poorly so often that i expect it's always written poorly?
maybe you'll come to the Conclusion it's still sexist (or transphobic, or...), and that's fine. i'm not saying there aren't Bigoted and Awful bits of fiction out there that tell us everything we need to know about the author's shitheadedness. but always take a moment to think first.

miku kneels down upon seeing the white dog with a figure of herself in his mouth, the idol smiling and laughing a little, " so cute !! are you a fan, mister pup ? " she's petting his head.
Tumblr media
That tiny tail is going a mile a minute! This is Miku! THE Miku, and she's giving him scritches! He could die happy!! He's even going to stand on his hind legs and paw up at her like he's doing a trick!

Ignore her, she's trying to get the most comfortable she can in the hotel's bathtub, because she's still contractually obligated to do her streaming side of the job at the SpookyCon.
This is what she gets for trying to have a life outside of her hellishly draconian contractual obligations, she guesses. April really should have gone indie instead of this...
