6. Mid-Century Modern Sofas
Mid-century modern sofas are characterized by their clean lines, tapered legs, and minimalist design. They are perfect for those who appreciate a retro vibe. 7. Modular Sofas
Modular sofas are highly adaptable and can be configured to fit any living room layout. They consist of individual sections that can be rearranged to suit your needs. This flexibility makes them perfect for evolving living spaces. Modular sofas can be expanded or reduced in size, making them a practical choice for growing families or those who frequently redecorate.
8. Futon Sofas
Futon sofas are practical and stylish, ideal for small apartments or multifunctional spaces. They can be easily converted into a bed, making them perfect for unexpected guests. Futons are available in various materials and finishes, allowing you to find one that complements your living room decor while providing versatile seating and sleeping options.
9. Convertible Sofas
Convertible sofas offer the best of both worlds: seating and sleeping options. They can be transformed from a sofa to a bed with minimal effort. Look for designs that offer additional storage solutions for a clutter-free living room. Convertible sofas are perfect for maximizing space in smaller homes, providing a functional solution that doesn't compromise on style.
10. Chaise Sofas
Chaise sofas add a touch of luxury to any living room. They feature an extended seat that allows you to stretch out and relax. Pair them with matching ottomans or coffee tables to create a cohesive and stylish look. Sofas and Couches: These are the centerpiece of most living rooms. Look for sizes that fit your space, from loveseats for smaller rooms to sectionals for larger areas. Consider the style that matches your decor, such as modern, traditional, or contemporary designs.
Coffee Tables: These not only provide a surface for drinks and decor but also contribute to the overall aesthetic. Choose from a variety of styles, materials, and shapes that complement your sofa and other furniture.
TV Units and Entertainment Centers: If your living room is also your home theater, invest in a TV stand or entertainment center that can house your media equipment and provide storage for books, games, and more.
Storage Solutions: Consider furniture with built-in storage like cabinets, shelves, or ottomans to keep your living room organized and clutter-free.
Seating Options: In addition to your main sofa, consider accent chairs or armchairs for additional seating. These can add a pop of color or a different texture to your space.
Lighting: Proper lighting is crucial in setting the mood of your living room. This can range from floor lamps to table lamps, pendant lights, or even smart lighting solutions that allow you to adjust the ambiance.
Rugs: A good rug can tie the room together, provide comfort underfoot, and even help define different areas within the living room.
Decorative Accents: Add personality to your space with decorative items like throw pillows, blankets, wall art, and plants.
Bookcases and Shelving Units: These are great for displaying books, curios, and other decorative items that reflect your interests and personality.
Functional Furniture: Consider multi-functional furniture like a sofa bed for extra seating or sleeping arrangements when guests visit.

Elevate Your Space with These Bedroom Furniture Design Ideas
Creating a stylish and comfortable bedroom is essential for a good night's sleep and a relaxing environment. With the right bedroom furniture, you can transform your space into a haven of tranquility and style. In this article, we explore various bedroom furniture design ideas to help you elevate your space.
Understanding the Basics of Bedroom Furniture
When selecting bedroom furniture, it's important to consider both functionality and aesthetics. The key pieces of furniture in any bedroom include the bed, nightstands, dressers, and wardrobes. Each piece should complement the overall design theme of your room while providing the necessary storage and functionality.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Bed
The bed is the focal point of any bedroom. Choosing the right bed involves considering the size, style, and material. For a modern look, consider a platform bed with clean lines and minimalistic design. Upholstered beds add a touch of luxury and comfort, while wooden beds bring a classic and timeless appeal to the room. Don't forget to choose a comfortable mattress that supports your sleeping posture.
Nightstands: Functionality Meets Style
Nightstands are essential for keeping your bedtime essentials within reach. When selecting nightstands, consider the height and storage options. Matching nightstands can create a cohesive look, while mismatched ones add a touch of eclectic charm. Opt for nightstands with drawers to keep clutter at bay, and choose materials that complement your bed frame.
Dressers: Storage and Elegance
A dresser provides essential storage for clothing and accessories. When choosing a dresser, consider the available space and your storage needs. Tall dressers are ideal for smaller bedrooms, while wide dressers with mirrors can make the room appear larger. For a cohesive look, match the dresser style with your bed and other furniture pieces.
Wardrobes: Maximizing Storage
Wardrobes are crucial for storing clothes, shoes, and other items. Built-in wardrobes offer a sleek and seamless look, while freestanding wardrobes provide flexibility in arrangement. Consider wardrobes with sliding doors to save space, and opt for designs with multiple compartments and hanging options for better organization.
Bedroom Benches: Adding a Touch of Luxury
A bedroom bench at the foot of the bed adds a touch of luxury and provides additional seating or storage. Choose a bench with upholstered seating for comfort, and consider ones with built-in storage for added functionality. The bench style should complement the overall bedroom decor.
Tumblr media
Accent Chairs: Creating a Cozy Corner
An accent chair in the bedroom can create a cozy reading nook or a stylish corner. Choose a chair with a design that complements your bedroom theme. Upholstered chairs with plush cushions provide comfort, while wooden chairs with intricate designs add a touch of elegance. Place a small side table next to the chair for added convenience.
Vanity Tables: A Functional Beauty Spot
A vanity table is a practical and stylish addition to any bedroom. It provides a dedicated space for grooming and storing beauty products. Choose a vanity table with ample storage and a comfortable stool. A mirror with adjustable lighting can enhance the functionality of the vanity area.
Storage Solutions: Keeping Clutter at Bay
Efficient storage solutions are key to maintaining a tidy and organized bedroom. Consider under-bed storage options, such as drawers or bins, for storing off-season clothing or extra linens. Floating shelves and wall-mounted storage units can save floor space and keep your essentials within reach.
Lighting: Setting the Mood
Lighting plays a crucial role in bedroom design. Choose a mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a balanced and inviting atmosphere. Bedside lamps with adjustable brightness are perfect for reading, while pendant lights or chandeliers can add a touch of elegance to the room. Don't forget to incorporate natural light by using sheer curtains or blinds.
Personal Touches: Making It Your Own
Personalize your bedroom with decor items that reflect your style and personality. Add artwork, photographs, and decorative pillows to enhance the aesthetic appeal. A well-placed rug can add warmth and texture to the room. Remember, the goal is to create a space that feels comfortable and uniquely yours.
Transform Your Bedroom Today
By incorporating these bedroom furniture design ideas, you can elevate your space and create a stylish and comfortable retreat. Explore Kanaba Home’s collection of innovative bedroom furniture to find the perfect pieces for your space. Louis and Armand's Dubai Penthouse - blending the traditional and modern, mixing materials and textures, an array of cultures and art across time, with accenting pops of colour
'So, I was like, "Okay, if I was a vampire that had lived through a century and I was well-traveled and was searching for mankind's humanity, what are the things that I would pull to the surface?" So, I wanted to capture different international styles, whether it was Moorish architecture or Japanese minimalism, but these different things that had a lot to do with contemplation, reflection, but also security.' [...] 'What else did we have? We had a few artists from New Orleans, some contemporary. I wanted there to be his connection to New Orleans, to home, his connection to his race, his connection to international travel, to psychology. There's also a textile piece that's hanging that's a kimono by a Korean artist. I think that knowing Louis's character, there's different paintings in the background that relate to women — whether that's an allusion to Claudia or his sister or his mother — but these devastating relationships, so there's imagery of women that we wanted to capture.'- Production Designer Mara LePere-Schloop. [X]
A few additional details about Louis and Armand's Dubai penthouse that should be of note:
Throughout the penthouse we see numerous and varied pieces of art, furniture, sculptures, and many other types of decór - all rich in colour and tone, lending a general warmth and personality to the otherwise bland, grey building.
Of all the rooms we see in the show, their bedroom is by far the most colourful and warm toned. Meaning that the room in which they are (presumably) the most private, unguarded, and comfortable is where we see the most personality and warmth in the décor.
In their bedroom, we can also observe several other clues as to their current dynamic. If you look closely at their bedframe, you can see it's made of a rich, carved wood, designed to have various shapes and sizes, with holes present across the width of the frame. These shapes and holes could be used to anchor restraints, like rope for bdsm play. This suggestion that their bdsm dynamic is still going strong in Dubai is further supported by the presence of several floggers and paddles on Armand's side of the room.
Another detail of note is that Louis' side of the bed features several books, undermining the suggestion his reading is restricted or controlled by Armand. Further proof of this is given when we see Louis has kept the floating book shelves after kicking Armand out of the penthouse (given that they were damaged, with some glass breaking, during their break-up - Louis would have needed to choose to keep them by repairing the damage/replacing them with like-for-like). Suggesting that it was purely an aesthetic choice made by both of them, not an attempt by Armand to control what Louis was reading (an argument first made because Armand can fly whereas Louis cannot).
A clue which demonstrates and supports the idea that Louis and Armand are both involved in decorating the penthouse is two key art pieces - The Kiss of Judas by Jakob Smits (1908) on Louis' side of the bedroom, and a painting in their dining room by Marius de Romanus, Armand's groomer and maker. Given that The Kiss of Judas references a grave betrayal, just as Armand betrayed Louis, it's highly unlikely that if Armand was in control of every design choice within the penthouse that Louis would be allowed to hang such a painting, especially within their bedroom. Likewise, it's highly unlikely, given what Marius did to Armand (which he told Louis about in detail), that Louis would allow Armand to hang such an art piece if he was the one choosing how to decorate the space. Meaning it's very likely they are both making choices together about how to adorn the penthouse.
The idea that they're deciding together how to decorate the penthouse is reinforced during episode six of season two, when the pair are discussing what to hang on their newly empty living room wall. They discuss changing their living room couches to fit with a proposed art piece, with Armand's "I assumed we would" and Louis' answering response that they'll end up replacing everything else in the room to match too, suggesting this is not the first time they've done somthing like this. Likewise, that Armand suggests a wallpaper by Ai WeiWei (an intensely political artist, who's art often draws attention to power dynamics, corruption, and personal freedom, and who is known for using bold patterns and saturated colours) should lead us to assume he is not actively attempting to make the penthouse devoid of colour or unprovoking in style to avoid Louis acting up. And when Armand asks Louis what they should do with the empty space, it is obviously coming from a place of being frustrated that Louis is shooting down all of his suggestions while offering none of his own, rather than the idea that he is irritated that Louis isn't just going along with what he wants, because again - They are both obviously decorating their home together.
The final sign that the penthouse's style is ultimately a compromise between Louis and Armand's style and tastes, and that Louis is an equal decider in all decorating choices, is the presence of his meditation rock garden. Using stones eerily similar to the ones he was buried alive in, Louis is effectively using the stones to represent Claudia's mantra of "We leave the damage so we never forget the damage". This is reinforced by Louis' choice to retain the stones after forcing Armand out of the penthouse, meaning that they were placed there by Louis, just as he keeps the rocks embedded in his skin. This is noteworthy, given that many have suggested that Armand created the rock garden to keep Louis in a state of fear, which would then enable Armand to better control him. This assumption was made largely due to the presence of Armand's magnolia tree and the season one, episode five quote: "Well, the interior designer hired was a sentimentalist. Some notion of hers, he was missing the natural world".
However, given that the rock garden was clearly Louis' choice (as they are still there, whereas Armand's tree is not), therefore the quote should be taken as a sign that the rock garden was entirely Louis choice - he was in a self-imposed isolation from the natural, outside world. The rocks therefore are likely meant as a physical manifestation of sorts for Louis' internalised guilt and shame over his perceived failures in life and how they have hurt the ones he loved - hence his inclusion of Paul's portrait and Claudia's dress in the space once he's began to truly deal with and take accountability over his emtions, memory, and choices - again, "We leave the damage so we never forget the damage".
TLDR: The penthouse was Louis and Armand's home, they jointly created it's look and feel equally, and pretending like it was all-Armand not only ignores what the show presented us with, but it also robs Louis of his agency and unfairly reduces him to a passive non-factor in his own story.

Season 2 episode 1 [What Can The Damned Really Say to the Damned] - part 4/4
- And now... Mood shift, setting change, back to Dubai, 2022, and the 77 year-long lie. And lord oh lord, we jump right into it with the shot of the bedroom being a cell and Armand selling Louis' art without even telling him the works are up for sale. Greaaaat. This is gonna be fun.
[Louis] "'Could I see the pages we removed? Of Claudia's diaries?'
[Armand] 'We made an agreement.'
[Louis] 'I don't know what else is blurred or misremembered.'
[Armand] 'My name is in some of those pages.'
[Louis] 'I sit across from him and reckon with the knowledge I don't know what other misrememberings made into it. I won't share them with him but I need to read them again.'"
Brb, need to SCREAM. Oh, the control Armand us exercising over Louis... The way he micromanages every aspect of his life. The way Louis has to bargain for everything he wants, and the way he thanks (thanks!!!) Armand for every breadcrumb thrown his way. The way Armand cares more about his image, his reputation, his grip on Louis, than Louis' well-being and peace of soul and mind. And the way the scene is shot and designed, the bars behind the bed and the skyscraper settling, the lack of any colors and any homey furniture, the huge bed with an ocean separating them, contrasting with the comfy house and room of 1132 rue Royale, and how Lestat and Louis used to sleep entwined in each other's embrace... I will go mad.
- BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THE ENTRANCE HAND IN HAND, ARE THEY SERIOUS. Oh, this is too hilarious. And how they drop the hands as soon as they're seated, yeah, real convincing, fellas.
- Oh, Devil's Minion's crumb! Armand responding to Daniel by mimicking his "Yeah" and those big eyes looking so amused and fond at that old man. Couldn't care less about the Loumand, I'm here for the Devil's Minion. What a performance, Louis rubbing Armand's shoulder, lmao.
- Daniel shutting down Armand immediately is hilarious. "Sure, sire, you're on the record, but you still haven't made an appearance in the story so for now stfu and wait for your turn". No wonder Armand goes crazy about Daniel, that guy doesn't know how to be afraid. And second shoulder pat, Lou, hon... You're enjoying this, aren't you. You are enjoying the way Daniel puts Armand back in his place, something you haven't managed to do in years, despite what you both like to pretend.
- Oh, I love that piece of music! That one is "The Whole World Was Ready to Return" and it is gorgeous. It's played here, as Claudia and Louis go to Paris, and at the end, when Louis issues his threat/warning to the vampires in Dubai. Very thematic. The music in s2 is different from the music in s1, by the way. S1 soundtrack had very folk/blues undertones, New Orleans style, while s2 is much more orchestral/symphonic, Paris style. The music adapts itself to the setting, and I adore that. It gives so much more texture to the story.
- [Louis] "The war had turned off the lights, stripped its streets of their beauty, sent its avant-garde into exile. But now, the whole world was ready to return, to remake their lives. Pilgrims, on their hopeful way."
Nah, the avant-garde, at least artistic, was there, just, waaay underground or dangerously flirting with censorship and hidden meanings. In Paris itself during the war, there were several plays written and played against fascism while the Gestapo was patrolling the streets. Notably, though conflictingly, Jean Anouilh's famous "Antigone", in 1944, Josephine Baker singing and spying , as well as Sacha Guitry, who was arrested after the Liberation and accused of collaboration without any evidence, but who managed to save a lot of Jewish artists and personalities by playing double agent, or good ol' Sartre (who hilariously makes a cameo later on in the show) who writes a lot of stuff between '40 and' 44. Anyway. There's more but I ain't have time right now to do serious research. Back to Louis.
- [Louis] "'I wanna say something to you. I don't need to hear anything back I just need you to hear me. Hard words and soft words. The hard. Our life is shit. It's been shit. It is shit. It's gonna be shit again. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one's watching, no one cares. A shit life beats no life. But where we're going now we can't be running away again. Doesn't mean we forget what we saw. What she did in front of us. I see you going that way I'm gonna pull you back. I don't need that from you. As long as you walk the Earth, I'll never taste the fire, you understand me? We're going to find others like us. Aind if it ain't here, cos life is shit, or I fuck it up again, or you fuck it up, we'll go to the next place. We can't be the only good ones out there. Soft words. If you were the last vampire on Earth... it would be enough. It's you and me. Me and you. You and me. Me and you. You and me.'"
And my hallucination of your dead father.
Anyway that's his child, that's her parent.
Gotta give it to Louis tho, he doesn't lie. Embellishes, obfuscates, but lying, no. As long as Claudia's alive, he's not gonna try the sun. But if she dies... All bets are off.
Also Louis is right and hey, actually needed to hear that right now, thanks bae. Now someone needs to tell him back his own words, I think he needs to hear it back.
Episode insider:
Jacob talking about the heart full of sugar and how he spent the rest of the night on a sugar high is so adorable and hilarious when the part that comes next is Dreamstat. Also hey, "Dreamstat" was coined by Jacob himself, nice!
[Jacob] "Anne Rice's vampires are so human. This is kind of a departure from these sort of beautified, glamorous vampires. It's just really fun." - yeah, I like the glam vamp, but the monstrous vampire, a bit like Mike Flanagan does in Midnight Mass, is also a thrill.
Love Delainey saying she loved doing her stunts and all the physical stuff!
[Assad] "Armand wants to protect himself, but also wants to protect his relationship with Louis, what they have. He feels he has no choice except to come in, sharing the narrative with Louis." - yep. Protecting himself. Protecting what he has with Louis, even at the expanse of Louis' own will. Because what does Armand fear above all else? To be unloved. Not necessarily alone, like most vampires, but to be considered unlovable and unworthy of people's care. So if he can't be sure that people's feelings for him are genuine, he will orchestrate and manipulate them to tie them to himself. That's Armand's schtick.

Something something about the sequence of "Marius de Romanus, Venitian contemporary of Tintoretto's", "The Groan" and "I serve a god" in the very same dialogue exchange + Real Rashid + Marius burning Eudoxia's acolyte Rashid + Eudoxia wanting to take TWMBK for herself + the way Children of the Millennia worshipped Akasha + Teskhamen being part of Akasha's original cult, the founder of the Talamasca and Marius' maker + the Talamasca finding Marius' painting + these paintings hanging in Dubai
I sound schizophreinc but I swear I'm not. I feel like I'm onto something that I can't fully grasp yet but something like the show merging the concept of Marius and the Talamasca together somehow??? I don't know I need to watch S2 right now😭😭😭
Alright *cracks knuckles* :)
So I am (not sure if you know but probably) firmly in the team "Marius is somewhere around and TWMBK are in the basement. And Lestat is probably there in his coma as well.".
For me (myself and I) all the hints point to that.
The painting, the comment re the prime minister, the groan, Fareed, Armand's little comment re serving a god. If the groan is Armand being annoyed or TWMBK will be something that will be interesting to see, but...
I really do not think you schizophrenic :)))
Marius has ties to the Talamasca (Raymond Galant), not only through his maker (though that is indeed a rather strong tie) but also through his contacts to it through the ages.
I absolutely believe that some of his painting will play a rather important role still in the show(s), especially since the set design emphasizes their meaning so much.
So yes. Marius' painting(s) in Dubai. I would bet anything that there are (at least a few) more in the basement. I would bet a lot that there is more than furniture in the basement, too. (In fact I think @cbrownjc might be right on the track in their fic installment, but that just as a note, this aligns to 99% with what I expect as well^^).
It's just the setup of it all. It carries meaning.
Like, Armand wouldn't hang that painting if some things haven't happened. And, as much as he loves/hates/wants Lestat... would he say Lestat is a god? Then again, him being sun-proof (and Louis not) puts us in such an interesting time frame in the books.... and that little easter-egg/hint with the "Book of Hours", too... because remember where that was mentioned?? Right, in Memnoch. By DAVID. David, who implies that they, aka the Talamasca, were tracking said Book of Hours... which had been lost in Berlin in the Second World War. (Btw, I will forever and for all time adore them if Louis just happens to lose some luggage with that darn book on his and Claudia's travels. Seriously. Please.)
Fareed and Seth... and Gregory. And Teskhamen. And Raymond. Hesketh. The Talamasca. Gregory's pharmaceutical empire and Fareed's research. (Which could easily produce special medicine for Daniel). Seth, Akasha's son. The paintings in the living room depicting "mother and daughter"... and "twins".
It's all connected.
And I mean.... knowing the last books... it's not really a far stretch that Marius is involved with the Talamasca. Leads them even, maybe :))))
The show is building up the lore in a quite incredible way, imho. I just hope they do not lose sight of all the threads, because this... if it unfolds over the next seasons as I suspect it will??? ... will be breathtaking.

interior design insp/references dubai edition
Just like with Louis's wardrobe in Dubai I feel like there's a lot of misconception about the design of the penthouse and what it's meant to represent. First of all, dark modern was and still is super popular design style amongst the wealthy!! It's a very popular way to style large open spaces (like a penthouse apartment). Light and airy designs are usually intended to reflect more natural light to make your rooms look bigger but when you already have a MASSIVE space that's kind of unnecessary. Also it doesn't need to be said that these are vampires so enhancing natural light with bright wall colors/furniture is utterly irrelevant and quite frankly counterproductive to them. You would rarely see a very dark design in a tiny apartment though, that's why its popular mainly among the super wealthy in their mega penthouses or modernist mansions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black furniture also screams lux because it's a PAIN in the ass to maintain like lint, dust, grime, etc gets everywhere constantly so by purchasing black furniture you're pretty much announcing to your guests that you have a maid who cleans for you cause your rich ass sure as hell isn't dusting that shit every day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the overall aesthetic of Dubai I would say is highly modern, there are interesting touches that suggest a couple that has collected items through time. In the first screenshot, you see Daniel and Louis sitting in the ultra modern living space while Armand is off to the side at his very mid-century chair, a very early hint that he's maybe from a different time.

Looking at this shot, you can see as many as 4 different design styles in a single frame. The table is clearly ornate traditional, the chair (which looks like rattan or bamboo) is more mid-century/boho and the japanese garden, and finally a little pink modern organic henri dejeant lamp. It's such a perfect representation of how long Loumand have been alive and together cause its normal for couples to accumulate different pieces over the course of their lives together and try to fit them in even though they don't exactly match the current designs. But this is what happens when you've been together for 75 years!

It's also interesting to see how the design choices of the penthouse evolved because an earlier visualization had a green mario bellini couch instead of a dark grey/black. The bellini couch was a 70's design that made a huge comeback in the last couple years, which is like the WHOLE 2nd interview like someone from the 70s who has entered the picture again after a long absence. However, I bet they probably pulled back on the bellini couch cause it was becoming overdone although it is still mega expensive (comes in at around $20k) but it's kind of become one of those ughh not that shit again kind of item.
