bakugo scoffs, a slight ‘tsk’ as he rolls his eyes at the guy trying to hit on you at the bar. his gaze is dead-set on you across the room, watching in case the guy attempts anything funny. kirishima knows what’s going on, eyeing him from the side.

it’s that weird in-between of trying to find what you are to each other again—stuck in the middle of being friends and ex-lovers.

acting on it would be wrong.

he doesn’t have that right anymore.

he stews in his feelings, swallowing them with each sip of his drink. then he gets another glass, grumbling when kirishima elbows him to join in their conversation.

bakugo frowns all the way through.

he watches you smile at the guy (only politely, he hopes), the side of your cheek barely lifting and the corner of your eye untouched. it’s not the way you used to smile at him.

the conversation at his table goes on simultaneously with yours across the room, and he’s neither here nor there—part of both conversations, but not. it’s only when you shake your head, moving your hand in a gesture of ‘no, thanks’ that he abruptly looks away.

he focuses elsewhere: mina’s animated storytelling, the ice melting in his drink, your perfume the moment you’re slipping in the booth next to him. it’s unintentional, he knows—your thigh brushing against his, fingertips slightly touching as you set down your drink.

then you smile at him, a bit shy and apologetic, but friendly still. the corners of your eyes crease.

he downs his drink.

you’re better at this than he is—compartmentalizing feelings and seeing past his faults. always have been.

if he had only been more—

if he was only open to—

if he could only take it—

no. it wouldn’t be fair; he chose this for the both of you.

so why, why does he still look for the parts of you only he’d been privy to?

The way Messmer’s inflection in his dialogue changed from the trailer is so interesting. In the actual game he sounds so much more.. disappointed, once he finds out we’re tarnished. He also sounds tired, like he’s said the line “those stripped of the grace of good shall all meet death in the embrace of Messmer’s flame” far too many times, and is just going through the motions.

No wonder he curses Marika as he dies — he may have done her bidding willingly in the beginning, but Marika basically made him the scapegoat of her crusade, later abandoning him in the land of shadow, afraid of his power. He sacrificed so much for her, yet it availed him nothing… especially after he realizes she’s giving the title of Elden Lord to a graceless tarnished.

me reading up on yet another article about the "it ends with us" movie's controversy, and the amount of tone deaf promoting going into it. *rubs hands together and laughs evilly* YEEEEHEHEHEHESSSSSS!!!!!!! FLOP FLOOOOPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Silco didn't create Jinx, you did" lives in my mind rent free because throughout season 1, Vi has been convincing herself that Silco is the obstacle preventing her from getting Powder back. She's traumatized and guilt-ridden. When Vi is traumatized, she simplifies things as a response. She has to believe that getting her sister back is that simple. But when Silco is finally dead, Powder doesn't come back to her. In fact Silco's death is what solidifies Jinx's decision to be Jinx (the complete Jinx aka Jinx + Powder, not the broken version of her that she tried to erase Powder from).

And that's likely why Vi switches on her so quickly. By the time season 2 starts she's fully on board with Piltover wanting to kill Jinx and when she confronts her in ep.3 she says Powder is dead and they're not sisters anymore. Which is wild considering just a few days ago she was reassuring her that they'll always be sisters.

I think Vi meant all of it. At the time she really did want Caitlyn and the enforcers to kill Jinx. But that's because she's still just as traumatized and guilt-ridden as she was before. She can't deal with the fact that Jinx herself is the real reason she can never get Powder back. And as I said, Vi simplifies things as a trauma response. However if they had actually succeeded in killing Jinx, I think Vi would live in regret and self-hatred forever. What someone wants when they're traumatized and hurt is not what they want forever, and Vi does love her sister.
