Please, oh mighty one, bless us with more jiuyuan crow Yuan content. I'm kicking my feet giggling everytime I read any of your additions. That guy so needs an emotional support animal, no matter what form it comes in.

Do you think crow yuan wld be attracted to the shinies in the bamboo hut? All the uselessly gaudy gifts the sect leader keeps throwing at him are finally coming in handy. But SJ is also super possessive of his items, so I wonder how that interaction will pan out? Would crows be the type to appreciate fine art and pretty colours in paintings, or are they just attracted to things that glow and reflect the light?

Also I'm just imagining crowyuan completely missing the bullying scene, then flying around until something shiny within the bamboo stalks catches his eyes, and he just finds a dangling guanyin there like ???

Does he take it with him? Does he realize it's the protagonist's jade pendant? Or does he just go, huh, how'd this get up here, and off in a nest it goes lol. Man, one of your previous posts talked about crowyuan just scattering his nests all over the peaks, and no one can touch them unless they want the wrath of god (SJ and thusly his enabler) upon them. And I just find it hilarious how inconvenient it could possibly be? Like imagine him setting up nests in the most inconvenient places on An Ding out of spite, and people just have to circle around it and try not to dislodge anything. Like, not all of them are on purpose across the peaks but man can it turn out to be a bit of a pain. And then ofc it can just be endearing the other times, with peak disciples recording the location of new nests and tallying to see which peak has the 2nd most nests (1st ofc always goes to Qing Jing)

I'm squealing over this reaction, I will bestow upon you what you seek. Shen Yuan is literally pulled into the Bamboo Hut after the sun hits the shinies through the window and he notices the glint from where he's politely making a nest nearby (so Shen Jiu won't be lonely!! God!). There is a slight pause of 'oooh, shiny! NO, THAT IS SHEN JIU'S- holy shit was that a ruby-' and then he darts into the hut (conveniently left open because SJ had to rush to deal with a rude visitor) to go poke and prod at the shinies. SJ returns to his hut after booting Liu Qingge (who wants to show SY a cool monster he killed) off his peak, to find the source of his headache holding a random gold trinket close to his mouth (he can test the realness that way, he swears), frozen in place as he stares at SJ. Of course, SY is embarrassed and SJ is confused (and yet pleased - SY entered his house of his own accord). SY awkwardly hands over the shinies he has scooped up into his arms, apologising profusely about the instincts he has while SJ (although he doesn't care about them, they're still his) acts righteously offended by his the little thief and forces him to stay for the night as punishment - no nest equals punishment for the thief teehee. However, Yue Qingyuan sees how much SY likes shiny things and starts offering him little gifts because he wants him to feel comfortable on Cang Qiong Mountain- SJ is of the full mindset that YQY is trying to steal his bird and immediately gets pissed off. As if that loser's bribery gifts are any better than SHEN JIU'S!! He will not stand for such a thing, and starts shoving his gifts into SY's hands almost forcefully. SY has learned to appreciate the finery of things, which is his human side still sliding into his life, but the other crow demons are still working on that aspect. SY does most definitely just sees the fake jade pendant, bites it, and just goes "mmm, fake things <3" and drops it into his nest. Luo Binghe sees it one day and has to physically hold himself back from just snatching it right away, instead finding SY and breaking down into tears as he tries to justify why he should have it back. SY has already handed it back to him, but he feels the need to explain. SJ is super jealous to find SY coddling LBH in his nest like the baby birds he deals with all the time. SY WILL PUT HIS NESTS ANYWHERE, AND HIS NESTS WILL STAY THERE BECAUSE NOBODY CAN DENY THAT DEMON. He makes them everywhere: on paths because then he can still be social while chilling, in An Ding peak storerooms just because..., on the roofs of Wan Jian Peak forges because they're toasty, Bai Zhan Peak fighting grounds because cool entertainment, and Qing Jing Peak because SJ <3

So, I had a peak of inspiration of inspiration for the fic ! I was kinda stuck because I wanted to do something light-hearted and funny and sweet but, well, i'm first and foremost an angst writer so the thing was just stuck in loading stage over and over and over. But I got some nice scenes during today's daydreaming during diner with really good slight angst/comfort vibes.

I'm thinking of keeping my first idea of Liu Qingge being wife-plotted/somehow xinmo-ed in an alternate dimension still in the disciples' time rather than just in the past. This is the best explanation I have for the joint existence of Grandpa!LQG and Babygirl!LQG.

I also think I'm going with, if not a pure System Reveal, an identity reveal / the fact that LGQ is aware that Shen Qingqiu is Shen Yuan and not Shen Jiu. And Shang Qinghua providing some explanations about Shen Jiu to LQG.

I need it for a little angst and above all an introspective trigger for LQG on his relationship with Shen Jiu/a little too late realization of "oh shit, it was THAT kind of feeling", which will lead to LGQ decision to shamelessly woo SJ in the alternate dimension.

I had a particularly vivid daydream of a scene within the Warm Red Pavilion in the aftermath of the disastrous and well-known mission involving Shang Qinghua, Shen Jiu, Liu Qingge and a well filled with ghosts. Where LGQ goes to the brothel, is mistaken by the Madame for Babygirl!LGQ's older brother (and praised for not entering screaming scandal and sword in hand like he did) and just goes to comfort SJ, who took refuge in his "safe place" after the whole debacle.

I thank LGQ in advance for his economy of words in the dialogues but by gods I'm going to have to make so many metaphors related to weapons, combat and animals for his internal POV.

Also I saw the art with the tanghulu and I'm a just little obsessed with the whole "sugar syrup glossy lips" image and LQG tasting the sugar and sour fruit from the treat on SJ's lips.

But well, it took LQG a century to get his head out of his ass about SJ but I hope it'll take me less time to write this fic lmao

Your post about 35yo Liu Qingge flirting with She Jiu in front of his scandalized 15yo self made me chuckle and I kinda want to write something about it. lei was born to be an assassin. that was the only reason talia got pregnant, to create someone who would be malleable, someone who could take her place one day. 

her plans were derailed slightly because the doctors failed to notice during the tests and ultrasounds that lei was blind. this didn’t stop talia though. 

lei was taught how to see with touch, with vibrations, with her hearing. before she could even though a weapon, she was being tested to see how she navigate, how well she could sense things. at 4, she was able to walk around without the need of help or supervision. 

at 6, she was finally allowed to start real training. she was rigorously and mercilessly trained in every form of martial arts her mother new. she was taught over and over until the movements were engrained into her and a second nature. 

she was given her first sword at 9, which she still cherishes and saved even though it is too small for her now.

she was basically formed into the perfect assassin. her cover was too good for her not to be an assassin, no one suspected the blind ‘help-less’ girl especially when it came to murder. 

lei followed her mother around like a puppy, she was raised to be just like her and was always told growing up that they were so similar so she idolized her, until something happened. 

her mother tried to sell her off to a thai millionaire who was actually interested in talia but she offered lei instead. the millionaire agreed after seeing her work and she was sent to his home as a ‘mission’ but she quickly caught on and escaped. lei was distraught over the fact that her mother tried to sell her and attacked her. she was left with a large scar over her left eye where her mother retaliated. she was done blindly following orders and doing as she’s told. 

she contacted damian, her half brother and moved in with him after a large fight with her mother which resulted in a scar that goes through her left eye. 

she is currently attending paragon to try and get some normalcy in her life but she’s still adjusting since she spent the majority of her life just living as an assassin. 

she’s a big smart ass, if ur being an idiot - she will straight up tell you. if you underestimate her or try to tell her she’s weak especially if you mention her being blind, ur getting kicked in the balls or left with a broken wrist. she doesn’t take shit from anyone, doesn’t like to be bossed around and doesn’t deal well with authority. 

80% of the time she’s wearing sunglasses but you can still see part of the scar over her left eye & she uses a probing cane mostly so people don’t question why a blind woman can navigate perfectly through life.

firstly i'll exhort you to reread "Yue QingYuan and Shen Qingqiu" extra Part 4.

1-on the origin of sj's hate for lqg

Within Cang Qiong Mountain, the one he undoubtedly hated most was Liu Qingge. Liu Qingge had achieved success in his youth; his talents were extraordinary, his spiritual energy vast, and his swordplay awe-inspiring. His family background was excellent, and both his parents were alive. Any one of these things would have been enough to make Shen Qingqiu gnash his teeth and toss and turn for three days and three nights, let alone all of them together in one person.

so, are we clear that the reason he started to hate lqg is envy? are we clear on that? moving on.

2-when did he start to truly hate lqg

so during cqm's annual martial arts tournament, sj fought against lqg and lost. from everyone else's pov this was the expected end result since this is bai zhan we're talking about, and the fact that sj hold out "valiantly" for so long against him had amazed the bystanders. like, sj really didn't lose any face in that fight.

but that isn't how he sees it

What he saw wasn’t the bystanders’ amazement at how he’d valiantly held out for so long but Liu Qingge’s matter-of-fact arrogance as he held the point of Cheng Luan’s blade inches from his throat.

this is lqg's normal expression. he's brash and comes off arrogant. the matter of fact attitude of "you lost, i won" is nothing damnable in this instance. he's just being himself and not causing any harm, nor insulting sj.

Qing Jing Peak prided itself on being the gentleman’s peak, and Shen Qingqiu took to playing a gentleman like a fish to water. Yet Liu Qingge was always able to make his rage boil to the surface, to the point that he didn’t bother wasting energy playing nice with his sect sibling.

sj has this habit where he blames his own feelings on others. lqg "made his rage boil" by just being himself (a successful, talented disciple from a well off family).

so he started the feud?

of course, shen jiu himself. why does he hate lqg? because lqg is better than him. quite simple. it's the same reason he hated lbh: because he had everything sj didn't.

3-the very public murder threats

The thing Shen Qingqiu most often said to Liu Qingge was: “Liu Qingge, I’ll definitely kill you one day!”

when you threat someone constantly that you're going to kill them, that's gonna leave an impression, ok?

but you'll see "he really didn't mean it, it was an empty threat, he didn't want to kill him." and i'll say "yes that's where the nuance is, but he still ambushed lqg repeatedly" and you'll ask "where are you puling that shit from???" ha ha

you said: LQG was the more likely ambusher in this situation based on what we know of their dynamic (chasing SJ down to fight, chasing SJ and dragging him back from the brothel).

regret to inform you that you're wrong

Liu Qingge sent him a glance. “You? Kill me?” It was only three words, but Shen Qingqiu heard boundless venom within them. His wrist turned. Yue Qingyuan saw that the situation didn’t look good and pressed Shen Qingqiu’s elbow downward, preventing him from drawing his sword. He looked back and yelled, “Liu-shidi! You should head back.” Liu Qingge looked like he couldn’t be bothered to deal with this further. With a cold laugh, his figure instantly vanished.

lqg couldn't be bothered to deal with sj. he didn't even want to be there. he didn't even draw his sword, yqy had to hold sj back from doing that. between lqg and sj, sj's hostility is more apparent.

lqg didn't single sj out, sj did. and if sj had treated lqg differently, their relationship would be very different as proved by the entire novel and sy!sqq and lqg's relationship.

Yue Qingyuan was silent for a moment. “Liu-shidi isn’t really such a bad person. He’s like that with everyone, not just to you.” Shen Qingqiu scoffed. “‘Like that with everyone’? Don’t try to deceive me, Zhangmen-shixiong. Is he like that with you?” “If you extend him a single share of kindness, he’ll return it two-fold,” Yue Qingyuan said patiently.

lqg's arrogance is nor something he shows for sj. like i said before, and what yqy is reiterating, is that lqg is like that with everyone. sj is the one making up that it's solely focused on himself, because he's projecting his inferiority complex in his relationship with lqg. and that's none of lqg's fault.

4-shen jiu constantly ambushed lqg

“Zhangmen-shixiong is truly considerate and understanding. It’s just, why doesn’t he extend kindness to me first? Why not have pity on me—show me some compassion? Why must I accommodate him?” As Shen Qingqiu had turned a deaf ear to his every plea, Yue Qingyuan found it difficult to speak further. After all, he couldn’t straight-up tell him something like: If you hadn’t used every means to ambush Liu Qingge after the meet in order to teach him a lesson, the two of you wouldn’t fly into a rage at the slightest contact now, nor would you loathe the mere sight of each other.

and here it is. having yqy's unbiased account (that of someone who's usually biased in sj's favor lmao) there's no reason to doubt any of this. sj "used every means to ambush lqg" after cqm's annual martial arts tournament. you know, the one where lqg defeated sj fair and square, none of them lost face, the other disciples where amazed at sj's valiant resilience, and stil sj got mad about it.

"in order to teach him a lesson". what lesson? well probably the same one he wast trying to teach lbh. that being talented, having a good cultivation base and a loving family/parent doesn't make you special or better. a very reasonable thing to do, of course *sarcasm*

5-the origin of qing jing peak and bai zhan peak's feud

and, do you know the reason lqg went to the brothel? it wasn't because he "wanted to drag sj back to the mountain. it was because sj beat up a bai zhan disciple.

Though conflict often erupted between Shen Qingqiu and Bai Zhan Peak, the conflict this time was truly overblown.

ever wonder why bai zhan peak has such beef with qjp and sqq? well, this seems to be the reason. i repeat, lqg wasn't the one to start the feud, and sj was actively ambushing lqg to "teach him a lesson". he often and very publically threatened to kill lqg. naturally, this has gained him bai zhan disciples' hatred.

A Bai Zhan Peak disciple had gone to this small, remote town for a task, where he had just happened to see a familiar person enter the largest brothel in the area, the Warm Red Pavilion. From top to bottom, Bai Zhan Peak felt the same as Liu Qingge: none of them harbored any goodwill toward Shen Qingqiu. Therefore the disciple had obviously refused to let this chance pass by; he’d directly followed Shen Qingqiu into the brothel, then mocked him for being a hypocrite and actually entering this sort of place, saying that he’d lost face for their entire sect.

hate engenders hate engenders hate. a never-ending cycle. sj hated lqg and acted on it, lqg hated sj because of that, and bai zhan peak heate sj/sqq because of all sj did in the name of that hate. and because of that hate, both sj and the bai zhan disciple did very stupid things.

After a couple of undiplomatic words, Shen Qingqiu had beaten him severely, leaving him with serious injuries.

the disciple mocks sj, and sj beats him up. you know, normal stuff to do to your fellow sect member.

When this disciple returned to Bai Zhan Peak, he’d run into Liu Qingge. After questioning him, Liu Qingge had been steaming with rage, he had promptly rushed over on his sword for payback, ready to hit Shen Qingqiu back for every blow.

so, you see, lqg had no interest in sj's life, but sj hurt one of his own, and couldn't let that pass. that's the only reason he went to the brothel. luckily yqy appeared just in time and the thing didn't escalate to a full-blown fight.

this whole thing i've quoted and explained to you is practically half of that section, qijiu extra part 4. where is the misinformation? seems to me that some people simply haven't read or are willfully selective about what you considered canon.

It’s bad enough that Asian* people are literally never given any big roles. If we’re ever in Hollywood blockbusters, it’s because they need some martial arts expert. Like the only way to be even mildly successful in Hollywood as an Asian actor is if you’re also a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu or Karate or something like that. It’s ridiculous. 

I can name all of the huge Asian actors that everyone in the world will know by name: Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan and Jet Lee. 

Those are household names, but every other Asian actor, the average non-fandom person won’t even know the name of. They might recognise the face in the background of their favourite white-centric show/movie, but it’s doubtful they’ll know the name. 

Hollywood doesn’t believe that Asian faces are bankable. They don’t believe that Asian men can be hot. And they don’t believe Asian women can be strong and dynamic without being some kind of ninja star. So why would fandom culture be any different? 

I’m glad there is a growing movement of Asian actors finding fame in Hollywood both behind and in front of the screen. And The Gifted is apart of that movement, so I hope this fandom doesn’t tolerate this kind of shit. 

* when I refer to Asian, I meant East and Southeast Asian specifically, but of course, all Asian people are considered second/third-rate in Hollywood. This is a problem for all non-white ethnicities.
