ever since rio called nicholas "nicky" this is all i've been able to think about....especially with "if your father was the devil and your mother was an angel" (obviously agatha is no angel lol) but rio being the "devil" in this sit/death and agatha being the "angel"......

Agatha All Along Episode 8-9 Theory!

New theory popped up in mind. About the sudden coldness of Agatha towards Rio after Lilia's trial.

My theory is:

Agatha was still emotional from Rio, confirming her that Billy is not her son.

She hadn't seen Rio ever since Agatha's trial, so she hasn't been able to confront her.

During her trial, Agatha passes through emotional hell. And was intensely reminded that an evil mother like Evanora was left to live (for years and even try to execute her own child), while Agatha as a mother (kind and caring and would do anything to protect her child, literally murder other witches) has to suffer by losing her son before she had the proper chance to enjoy him.

Let us not forget she heard the name of Nicholas and got reminded of the pain of losing him. I mean, imagine how many centuries she had to hear that little voice, outside of her own mind and memories?

And then all of a sudden. She sees Rio. She is the one who made him sick because she is death (and her genes cant really reproduce and create a child), she is the one who took Nicky away and she is also the one who resembles him the most.

Grief-stricken, emotionally tired Agatha just got reminded all those things, and above all; Rio tried to "accuse" her for walking with another woman's son down the same path that nicky created for then.

So, in her exhausted mental state, she treated Rio poorly and called her evil. Making Rio react accordingly in the final trial, though she still held back and wasn't planning to kill Agatha; most likely teach her a lesson.

I'm glad you Astarion fans are having fun, but as a non video game person (and someone who was well-educated about Adam Sandler movies from a young age), all I see is Adrian from Little Nicky:
