Quick question about your alternates in arms au, can the alternates purr?

They don’t purr exactly…but they can make a variety of other sounds when they let their guard down!

I like to imagine the alternates can make VHS and analog television sounds, but that they only do it if their guard is down. So when they’re tired, irritated, or not thinking. A little risky since they can get found out because of it….but humans are pretty good at “dismissing” weird things. Ironically, their desire to explain things leads them away from the truth.

One of my favourite things about Cesare and Lucrezia is how consistent their relationship is on the show, and how it parallels their character arcs. When they finally get together on her wedding night, it feels like it was inevitable instead of like a desperate attempt by the studios to attract viewership with a scandal (if there was pressure from the studios, at least it's not obvious).

From the first episode, it's obvious they love each other, perhaps a little too much. They have scenes together in almost every episodes (and when they're not on screen together, their scenes echo each other). And in most of these scenes they're laughing and smiling together, they're affectionate.

Throughout the series, they grow closer as they cross more and more moral lines in their personal lives. Cesare's cruelty and ambition grows, but so does Lucrezia's. She orchestrates her husband's accident, accepts the knife that killed Sforza, makes an attempt on Juan's life, and we see her standing up to her father more and more. When Cesare kills Juan, arguably one of the worst things he could have done, it's with Lucrezia's encouragement, and they stand together, against everyone else, when the body is recovered. And on the night of her engagement, they seem to forget propriety altogether.

Many factors contributed to Lucrezia slipping into Cesare's bed, but there's a sense that it was always leading up to this, and also that it couldn't have happened ealier.

It's good writing.
