I was wondering what the meanwolves would do with a pack human who had psychiatric issues/depression? like what if they needed to take daily prescription meds to deal with their symptoms? would the wolves try to get medications for them?

how would they handle a pack human showing obvious worrying symptoms? (not moving from a single spot, inciting the wolves to hurt them badly or even kill them, showing a despondent lack of interest in daily pack life). Does Max understand human mental illness? can wolves suffer similar conditions?

wild packs will make a deal with the nearest city wolf hospital in order to get prescription medication for their human(s). what kind of deal they make depends on the hospital and who works there. it could be completely benign (mandatory annual checkup for the pack human at that hospital) or something a little more self-serving (monetary bribe, access to pack territory, etc). shelter mountain doesn’t have an existing deal in place but they will gladly make one for their pack human if they need to.

max is actively detrimental to the pack human’s mental health. wolves can have many of the same conditions, but max has only a vague understanding of how these work, and that understanding is mostly used to exploit it. for example, he knows just enough about anxiety that he can recognize it and will exploit it to give the pack human a strong fear response to anything deemed improper. a change in mood or behavior would draw his attention but he would mistake it for stress or a “typical reaction” to the early stages of human training (aka not wanting to be held captive by a bunch of werewolves) unless it persists longer than he expects. in that case, he’s going to panic lol lance’s uncle’s pack will be contacted and their medic will visit and take it from there.

linden is by no means a mental health professional but he’s been consulted on pack human care for years and is not purposefully trying to break you, so he’s at least slightly better than nothing.

synopsis: wriothesley always knows exactly what you need.

building a home in fontaine’s countryside was the best decision that you and wriothesley had made. the privacy was your main reason for moving out here, where your home is hidden away from eyes that pry, tucked safely underneath the linden trees. 

of course, there are a lot of things about your house that you love. the ivy that wraps around its walls, the acres of land for gardening and raising animals, or just to sit within and admire. you love the warmth of the fireplace on cool nights and the south-facing windows that let golden sunlight fill the room. you love this home because you built it together (with the help of your friends). 

but your absolute favourite piece in your home has to be the clawfoot bathtub. deep enough to nearly reach your shoulders, long enough to stretch your legs across. sinking into a bath in this gorgeous tub was the perfect way to end a long week.

you’re preparing a bath now, trussing it up with bath salts, essential oils, some bubbles. candles for ambiance. the setting sun was still bright enough to bounce soft light around the room, but you liked the warm glow candles provided. 

the only thing left now was to strip out of your work clothes. you toss them in the basket, rolling your eyes as you pick up a stray sock that seemed to just miss the basket last night. 

“unbelievable,” you mutter with a shake of your head as you grab the stem of your wine glass, cradling it into your chest as you climb into the tub and slowly lower yourself into the warm water. the second you lean back against the ceramic you instantly begins to relax. the tensions from the work week are already beginning to drift away in a heavenly haze of lavender scented steam and bubbles. it’s just you, your wine, and a quiet evening.

the sound of the front door being thrown open jolts you out of your daze. you nearly spill your wine when you sit upright, body alert at the thought of an intruder. 

your husband calls your name. 

“bathroom!” you call back, releasing a relieved sigh as you sink back into the water. you hear his heavy footsteps quickly make their way across the cottage. he’s home early today. 

wriothesley appears in the doorway, lopsided smile on his face as he already begins loosening his tie, stepping into the bathroom. “don’t you look relaxed.”

you simply hum in response, smiling up at him. at least until he pulls his shirt over his head, tossing it in the general direction of the basket. 

“wrio,” you pout as his trousers suffer the same fate. “your stuff goes in the basket. not in the area around it.” 

“they’ll get there eventually,” he shrugs, gesturing for you to scoot up. “don’t want the water to get cold.”

so much for a quiet evening.

“you know, the purpose of the bigger bath was so that we wouldn’t be squished together like this,” you mutter as he slides into the water behind you, tucking himself snugly against your back and settling his chin in the crook of your neck

“maybe i just like being pressed up against you,” he says, placing a gentle kiss on your shoulder. “i do like having a bigger bath for our…activities though.”

you roll your eyes, and wriothesley makes up for his lewd insinuations when his hands start working at the knots in your shoulders. “wanna tell me what you’re doing home so early? i usually have to tear you away from your desk for the weekend.”

“promise you won’t freak out?” he sighs, digging his fingers into a particularly large knot at the base of your neck. it’s a trap and you know this, but it just feels so good. 

“wriothesley–” you start.

his fingers move under your chin, tilting your head toward him so you’re eye to eye. “i may have left clorinde in charge so i could take a few days off.” before you can get a word out, he swallows your argument with a kiss.

“wait,” you sputter. “how many days did you take off?”

“three days starting tomorrow,” he answers quickly, leaning in for another kiss. you place a soap-covered hand on his mouth and push his face away, ignoring his confused noises. 

“you can’t take that many days off, we have the finance meeting with neuvillette on monday,” you remind him, scooting to the opposite end of the tub to avoid any more distracting touches. “i can’t go by myself–”

“ah,” he interrupts, rubbing the back of his neck. “i may have signed off on a few days off for you too.”

“what?!” you yell, but it’s more like a shriek. “don’t you remember what happened last time you left clorinde in charge? the infirmary–” 

“i told her she can’t hit them this time!”

you huff, bubbles floating through the air as you cross your arms over your chest. you’re surprised he’d take so much time off before an important meeting. 

“come on,” he urges, that sneaky smile you hate to love still playing on his lips as he leans forward in the water. you feel his hand grip your ankle, barely lifting your leg above the water, thumbs rubbing firm circles into the pad of your foot. “i’m not trying to get out of anything. i just want to spend some more time with you.”

you have to admit, he looks absolutely irresistible right now. The way the warm sunset bounced off the rivulets of water dripping down the planes of his chest painted a very pretty picture for you to look at as he massaged your tired muscles. 

and he’s right. the two of you have been busy lately, sneaking quick kisses when you pass him in the hall or hiding away for a moment before one of you is called for. 

his skilled fingers work their way up your calf, soothing the muscles you used to walk around the infirmary. You lean your head back, letting your eyes slip closed as he starts describing your weekend off in a low voice that makes heat creep up to your cheeks. 

“it’ll just be me and you all weekend. We’ll lay in bed all morning, then i’ll make you a special brunch–” you crack one eye open to send him a wary look. “okay, you got me. i’ll order us a special brunch. then we’ll have a picnic out in the yard, maybe do some fishing at the dock…”

okay, you’re sold. a restful weekend with your love sounds perfect. 

“well, as long as you’re prepared for the– ah,” you gasp, shuddering as his fingers travel up past your knee. “wriothesley, what are you–” 

“shh, just giving you another preview of what you’re in for this weekend,” he laughs, fingers grazing your inner thigh. “let me help you relax, love.”

Honestly not the best father figure, but violet really likes their dad

Emotional dependence is the basis of it.

It's not healthy but neither of them seems to care

Violet's mother unfortunately died after an infection caused by Lawrence and his idea to remove her limbs.

Unpredictable some days, can be a caring father or an anxious mess (nothing in between)

More like a cool uncle who offers alcohol to minors than a father

no paternal sense, plus places no limits on the things Hertha does

Regarding their relationship, Hertha doesn't have a good impression of her father and Strade couldn't care less.

Strade shows "affection" by pampering her with everything she asks for (for him it's much more practical than being emotionally available)

One of the reasons Hertha actively tries to F strade when adult and shows no remorse about her actions

Her mother unfortunately took her own life when she was still young

She was probably the only person Hertha could empathize with and care about (genuinely)

The twins fear their father like the plague. They have no sentimental attachment to him and prefer to stay that way.

Not to be unfair, rire even showed up a few times to check on them (for some unknown reason) but the twins ran off as if they'd seen a monster.

Alright!! Here's some more fun trivia about the names in Red Dead Redemption 2:

I mentioned it previously but "van der linde" means "from the linden tree" in Dutch (the west germanic language) - so 'Dutch Van Der Linde' just means 'Dutch from the linden tree'.

"Hosea" is a Hebrew name meaning 'salvation' or 'he helps' - In the Hebrew bible, Hosea is seen as a prophet of doom. Quite fitting for how much Hosea predicted the gangs downfall in the game!

John is a commonly occurring name in different versions of the bible, usually meaning 'graced by god' or along those lines - but the last name "Marston" is an English name. It was originally a habitual term but now it's a common last name meaning "a town by a marsh". Huh.

Also mentioned previously, but Arthur Morgan is a notably Welsh name with multiple meanings. "Arthur" derives from the Welsh word for bear (Arth) and "Morgan" is a combination of two Welsh words (Môr and Cant/Gant), which means sea-dweller.

Kieran and Trelawny's horses both have Welsh names too!!

Branwen is also a combination of words, ("bran" and "gwen/gwyn") that means a white or fair crow. Branwen herself was a famous heroine from the tales of the Mabinogion. She was kidnapped by the family she was forcefully married into, her only hope was a white bird she tamed and sent across the seas to alert her family and save her. The choice of name Branwen could be a reflection of how much working with horses had grounded Kieran or acted like a lifeline for him when he needed a place in the gang.

Gwydion is Trelawny's horse, a name also from the Mabinogion! For me it's especially cool because Gwydion was the son of a great goddess of magic - how fitting for Trelawny and his horse! The name itself is a description of a birthplace, Gwydion means "born of the trees". In the story, Gwydion also practiced magic and created his nephew and wife from flowers :)

I finally finished the new troll characters from Trolls Band Together for my monster au but the first batch is mostly composed of werewolves and vampires because they’re related to the Alphas.

Linden, along with Aurora and Twilight are the younger siblings of Rose, so it makes sense that they’ll also be vampires. Linden is the second born child and the only boy in a family of vampire sisters. Being born one year after his older sister, Rose was left with Queen Celestia as a baby for her safety as the heir, made him protective of the twins, Aurora and Twilight. He has the same royal vampire abilities but his vampire gift is dark energy manipulation.

The platinum twins, Aurora and Twilight are a duo of royal vampires who love nothing more but to use their powers to toy around their prey until they can finally feed on them. Aurora is the older, calm and calculating twin and she has the power to cause pain on her targets with her mind, while Twilight is the younger, more vicious and headstrong among the two, with the sensory deprivation powers, which takes form of purple smoke. When they and their parents finally reunite with Celestia and Rose, who turned out to be the twins’ older sister, Twilight’s life changed for the better when she meets Eagle, an outcast member of the resistance called Mayday and he becomes her zing.

Viva is the younger twin of Poppy and the alpha of another pack, which is located near the cemetery. While Clay tends to the serious parts of the pack, she keeps up the fun, being more Poppy than Poppy with a hint of protectiveness for all the monsters when fending off the Gileadeans. Like her twin, Viva’s favorite food is the heart of her victims. She was finally reunited with Poppy and the pack when Rose decided to gather reinforcements to finish off the divine republic once and for all with a final night terror. She is also in a zing with Barb and is best friends with Twilight.

John Dory is the lone wolf of the Rivera pack. Unlike other werewolves, he hunts alone after leaving his pack and adopted an alebrije dog, whom he named Rhonda. He would hunt down stray loyal Gileadeans and devour them but he prefers to save the liver for last because it’s his favorite. He was the ringpup in Prince Bastion’s wedding to Princess Jasmine Dracula and he and his brothers used to babysit Rose when she was a toddler until they got in an argument with each other and they left the Rivera pack upon reaching adulthood. He later reunited with the rest of the brothers, Branch, and the Rivera pack and fell in love with another werewolf named Amalthea, from whom he learned that being in a pack is better when fighting off the enemies or hunting prey.

Formerly the most eligible werewolf in his pack, trans man Bruce a.k.a Spruce is now a father of thirteen rambunctious werewolf pups and the husband of Brandy, a black furred werewolf who is also trans like him. Although he is hardworking and dedicated as an alpha of his own pack, he has a laid back approach to life. He can sometimes lose his cool whenever he or those he cares about are being treated unfairly, as he would scold them for it, mainly John Dory. Although he can act like a jerk and has made many mistakes, Bruce's good qualities will always shine through, such as his bravery, care for others and friendliness. Also, he truly cares about his friends and loved ones, as he would do anything to help them, especially if they are in serious trouble. Sometimes, he would make the wrong assumption before getting the facts. He loves eating the body parts that I don’t wanna mention because it’s disturbing.

Clay is formerly the fun member of the Rivera pack and now, he ties the serious one when it comes to taking care of the werewolves and other monsters living in and near the cemetery. He still has a painful memory towards John Dory after the brothers left upon reaching adulthood because of an argument. He also reunited with Branch years later and helped fight the angry mob of Gileadeans under Rose’s banner with all of the monsters. He prefers eating the hands of his victims, which he saves up for last.

Floyd is the sensitive member of the Rivera pack before he left to hunt on his own. He felt like he wasn’t attracted to anyone but other males and ended up working for some humans from Mayday, which he became the secret weapon of the rebellion by preying on loyal Gileadeans, especially for the lungs, which is his favorite and harboring escapees and fugitives who are heading to Canada. He had many safe houses, but an abandoned mansion became his main home. After many years, he was driven out of the mansion by a pair of ghosts before Rose called him to Nevermore Castle for reinforcements. His zing is Boom, one of the members of Kismet.

The Kismet are also gonna come so stay tuned ghouls and mansters!

hii linden! i kinda needed some help

so, i wanna read some comics based on:

donna troy, cass cain and wally west

but i have literally noo idea where to start 😭 ofc ik the basics but i was hoping you could suggest something?? thank you so much if you do and have a wonderful day!

yeah i gotchu!! those are literally my besties lol i can definitely give you some recs. i'm not sure what you'd consider to be the basics so i'll just include all the big stuff to be thorough

donna troy:

first rec is always new teen titans as you probably would have guessed lol. it is a very long and arduous undertaking though so some more specific recs would be vol. 1 #38, #50, vol. 2 #18-21, #50-55.

i've gone into more detail on her appearances in darkstars, green lantern etc but honestly though they are important to understand the status quo & what was going on with her, i don't think they're very good comics to just read for donna. my next rec would probably be wonder woman (1987) #126-136, which is a VERY important arc for her. it goes into more detail on her origin, reconnects her to the amazons & diana, and i believe is where she officially passes on the wonder girl mantle to cassie. and she appears frequently throughout the rest of that wonder woman run after the arc if you want to continue on!

titans (1999) is another big one, beloved beloved comic. lots of good donna content.

titans/young justice: graduation day #1-3 YIKES! unfortunately pivotal to her story lol

dc special: the return of donna troy look. i know I gush about this comic like it's my full time job. but honest to god i adore it to pieces, it's a love letter to donna and her history and it's one of my favorite comics of all time despite only being 4 issues. begging everyone on the planet to read it rn

cass cain:

cass was famously introduced in batman: no man's land! now that event is very very long so it might seem tempting to skip straight to bg 2000 but i'm here to tell you to not do that. if nothing else it is PIVOTAL that you read her introduction issues (mark of cain pts 1 & 2), batman #567 and detective comics #734. probably the coolest most metal introduction of any comics character in history, it's that good. if you're interested in cass's role in nml but not the whole thing, here's a list of her appearances:

i think nml is essential reading for cass and it makes me sad that a lot of people skip it.

next is, of course, batgirl (2000). it's her character bible it's god's (kelley puckett's) gift to mankind it's maybe the best comic ever written. what more can i say

she's also a fixture in gotham knights! cass was a part of most batfamily events in the early 2000s, ex. officer down, joker's last laugh, war games, bruce wayne: murderer? and bruce wayne: fugitive. it's pretty easy to find them since they mostly cross over with her batgirl run.

detective comics #790 is only one issue but it's. ough.

aaaaand then we get into the evil cass arc stuff which just sucks and isn't worth it. she's pretty much written out of the story for a while, other than red robin #17 & #25.

she does show up as black bat in gates of gotham! i really enjoy that story, and it's only 5 issues.

that gets us to new52. i would completely disregard her rebirth and batgirls appearances honestly. she is a part of the current birds of prey ongoing! and while i am not kelly thompson's biggest fan i do think she gets a lot of cool moments and for the most part she's done right.

she is also featured sporadically throughout ram v's gotham nocturne storyline (it started way back in detective comics #1062 if you want to read the whole arc, it's VERY good). i have to give a special shoutout to #1084, which has a backup story that's focused on cass and it legitamately blew my mind. like i couldn't believe my eyes when i was reading it, maybe it's because cass has been done so dirty over the years that anything makes me happy but to get a cass-centric story featuring shiva that cares about her as a character in 2024 was crazy 2 me i will rave about it forever. thank you alex paknadel.

wally west:

the good news is my wally reclist is WAY less complicated. as is predictable for me, pretty much the only wally rec I have is flash volume 2 (1987). it is for all intents and purposes The Story of Wally West tm. it's his character bible it follows him throughout nearly a decade of his life. because it's so long my specific rec would be to read waid's run on it, from #62-142. if you want more context to his life at the time you can start earlier in the comic, i think #31 is a good jumping on point if you want to experience some messner-loebs but not too much messner-loebs lmfao.

he's featured in titans (1999) until about issue #20, iirc. wally is just fated to quit titans teams lol. there is some good stuff with him up until that point though!

that is honestly about all i got until you get to more modern flash comics. after rebirth he's reintroduced in flash vol. 5, and #768-800 is the jeremy adams run.

he's also the main focus in si spurrier's flash vol. 6! aka the current flash ongoing. which... as i have often said, i am a big fan of.

Since all the Oceanids in Genshin are named after real Oceanids from Greek myth, here are some of my favorite Oceanid names that I think could’ve been Furina’s name before she became the god Focalors:

Adrasteia: goddess of “inevitable fate,” representing “pressing necessity” and the inescapability of punishment. scarily on the nose for Furina’s story.

Beroe: mentioned in Virgil’s Georgics as the sister of Clio—“Clio and Beroe her sister, daughters of Ocean both, both arrayed in gold, and both in dappled hides.” Technically all the Oceanids are sisters but I like that Beroe is specifically mentioned alongside Clio, the namesake of the fictional Oceanid whose story mirrors Furina’s.

Calypso: means “she who conceals” or “like the hidden tide”

Ceto: means “sea monster” or “whale”—I like the irony of this being Furina’s Oceanid name when the prophecy is caused by a giant whale monster

Clymene: means “fame”

Eurynome: means “wanderer” or “ruler”

Galaxaura: means “calm” or “the charmer” or “like the refreshing coolness of a shady stream”

Iache: means “cry” or “shout” or “shriek”

Peitho: means “persuasion” or “winning eloquence”

Perse/Persa/Perseide/Persea/Perseis: means “destroyer”

Phaeno: means “appear” or “reveal” or “shine”; I really like the idea of Furina’s Oceanid name starting with F/Ph like her other names.

Philyra: means “linden-tree,” which is a kind of tree found in Fontaine. This tree has symbolic significance in many cultures, even being associated jurisprudence/justice in Germanic cultures. And for some big delusion, in the medieval poem Nibelungenlied—one of the inspirations for Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, from which the Dragon Sovereign King Nibelung’s name is likely derived—the hero Siegfried gains invulnerability by bathing in dragon blood, but a single linden leaf sticks to him in the process, creating his sole point of invulnerability. A fitting name for the former Oceanid who has a reincarnated Dragon Sovereign with a very big soft spot for her.

Theia: means “divine”

Urania: means “heavenly”; this is actually used in game as the name of the “Hateful Oceanid” enemy we fought during the Legend of the Vagabond Sword event, so in truth it probably can’t be Furina’s name. What makes it intriguing to me is the location on Erinnyes called Loch Urania, which is no doubt named after the Oceanid Urania, whoever she is.
