the character graveyard — a creator's lament
a wall of snow keeps you hidden, it's true.
my hands tainted. I buried you all myself.
some of you live, just barely, breathing through a straw in your graves. an illusion of existence.
some of you never had the chance. your lives extinguished before you could fully form.
massacre.
your god has not forsaken you, I plead.
though I am god and she is merciless. by circumstance, not design.
I come to acknowledge you. you forgotten ones, the ones I hid, the ones who died by my hand and the ones who fizzled from existence before I could reach them. I gather you here today. to recognise you. mourn you. immortalise you.
I raise my chalice to each of you.
here's to the faceless ones. the ones I never named. the ones who had nothing but a name. a vibe. a role. a disembodied something. you hadn't enough love or care. I'm sorry.
here's to the fleeting ones. ones who existed in passing. to assist another's narrative. to enhance the world.

The shooting of the new ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off has reportedly begun, most likely in the United Kingdom, the principal location of the series. Denise Welch, who is known for playing Natalie Barnes/Horrocks in ‘Coronation Street’ and Steph Haydock in ‘Waterloo Road,’ was spotted filming the series recently. The production of the original series’ fourteenth season recently wrapped and the fifteenth season’s shooting is slated to begin in December in Cardiff.
The spin-off series revolves around the UNIT, a military organization operating under the United Nations to investigate and combat paranormal and extraterrestrial threats to Earth. UNIT has featured significantly in the original series for the past 50 years. The spin-off will follow UNIT leader Kate Stewart. Jemma Redgrave appears as Stewart in around ten episodes of the original series. Redgrave will be appearing in the series after portraying Stewart in the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special later this year, starring alongside the new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa (‘Sex Education’).
The new spin-off will be a part of an expanded “Whoniverse,” which was born after Disney+ struck a significant international distribution deal with BBC. ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner and executive producer Russell T. Davies revealed that the show is only one of the several spin-offs that will form the “Whoniverse.” “[…] it was time for the next stage for Doctor Who. I thought the streaming platforms are ready, the spin-offs are ready; I always believed in spin-offs,” Davies told British GQ about expanding the ‘Doctor Who’ universe with new shows set in the same.
Redgrave is best known for playing Evie Wilcox in ‘Howards End,’ alongside Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, Lady DeCourcy in Kate Beckinsale and Chloë Sevigny-starrer ‘Love & Friendship,’ MI6 Agent Emily Tuthill in ‘The Grid,’ Rebecca Edmonds in Craig Ferguson’s ‘I’ll Be There,’ etc. Her recent credits include DI Jill Raymond in ‘Silent Witness,’ Amelia Gurney-Clifford/Davenport in ‘Grantchester,’ Bernie Wolfe in ‘Holby City,’ etc.
Welch’s recent credits, on the other hand, includes Angela in ‘Dead Canny,’ Trish Minniver in ‘Hollyoaks,’ Doll Belvedere in ‘Dun Breedin’,’ Linda Bradshaw/Pam McGrath in ‘Holby City,’ etc. BBC has not announced other cast members of the spin-off series yet, which can be expected in the upcoming months.
Along with BBC Studios, Sony-backed Bad Wolf, the production company behind ‘His Dark Materials,’ ‘A Discovery of Witches,’ and ‘Industry,’ is expected to be involved in the production of the series. Bad Wolf has been co-producing ‘Doctor Wolf’ since the fourteenth season of the show.

Incoming Text for @YesJulz:
Hey, YesJulz!
I want to let you know that Idil Ahmed will become your new screenwriting partner, you can learn the screenwriting craft together as a team, you will have a lot of fun with Idil because she is a loyal friend.
Also, don't forget, Idil is the new assitant of Tracey Edmonds, she will do all the heavy-lifting with the brain and you will help Idil do the work too, writing screenplays is fun.
YesJulz, you are a fast learner, I saw you read books on your IG pages, so I know you love words a lot, so don't hesitate to practice a lot, just write down the words, let them flow on paper, write down your ideas on paper and don't worry about the screenplay, this is for later. First, you have to start with writing down ideas, just write them down, keep a notebook nearby, in your room, in your living room, in your toilets, everywhere you should have a notebook in your home, even at night, you never know when inspiration strikes.
Also, IMPORTANT REMINDER:
"Writing down ideas in a notebook can sometimes be time consuming, because you have to write down these ideas and they can take a big chunk on your time, so this why I recommend an easier option, you can use dictation, which means use a voice recorder to collect your new ideas for a movie and then simply listen to these ideas when you have free time to organize your recorded film ideas."
Here is an article that will help you choose the best voice recorders for you, click the link:
Also, Did you know that you can write an entire book using your voice recorder? Oh, yes, it's possible, so do it, write a book too, I know you want to write a book, dictation will help you finish your book easily. Watch & learn from this youtube video below:
youtube
Never underestimate yourself, never think negatively, you can do this, the grammar mistakes and all that stuff that stresses you out, doesn't matter, what really matters is your vision, your ideas on the paper, that is what really matters. Quentin Taratino used to write like an illiterate person back in 1992, a lot of people forget that Tarantino made a lot of grammar errors in the beginning of his career when he wrote screenplays but that didn't stop him to continue chasing his dream of becoming a screenwriter and director, it's all about your drive, your energy, your willpower, your work ethic.
You can do this YesJULZ, I believe in your work ethic, never not working. Just keep writing down your ideas and never worry about the screenplay, the ideas are the most important ingredients of a screenplay, you need the ideas to build the screenplay, so don't think too much and just write down your ideas and see how easy it will become for you to build your screenplay, brick by brick, step by step.
I want to teach you a lil' secret about Quentin Tarantino that not a lot of people know, read this quote by his typist Linda Chen:
Quote of the Day (Linda Chen, on Quentin Tarantino, ‘Functional Illiterate’)
“His handwriting is atrocious. He’s a functional illiterate. I was averaging about 9,000 grammatical errors per page. After I would correct them, he would try to put back the errors, because he liked them.”—Linda Chen, who corrected and typed the screenplay for Pulp Fiction and later served as unit photographer on the film, on her motormouth, manic, mad employer, Quentin Tarantino, quoted in Mark Seal, “Cinema Tarantino: The Making of Pulp Fiction,” Vanity Fair, March 2013
In late 1992, Quentin Tarantino left Amsterdam, where he had spent three months, off and on, in a one-room apartment with no phone or fax, writing the script that would become Pulp Fiction, about a community of criminals on the fringe of Los Angeles. Written in a dozen school notebooks, which the 30-year-old Tarantino took on the plane to Los Angeles, the screenplay was a mess—hundreds of pages of indecipherable handwriting. “It was about going over it one last time and then giving it to the typist, Linda Chen, who was a really good friend of mine,” Tarantino tells me. “She really helped me.”

Adam N. Schuster Residence, St. Joseph MO
An 1880s residence in the Hall Street Historic District
Built: 1881
Architect: Edmond J. Eckel (Eckel and Mann)
Address: 703 Hall Street, St. Joseph MO 64501
Growing up in St. Joseph, Missouri, in the 1960s and 70s, my main source of fascination was the city's historic architecture. A major gateway to the West during the 1800s, the town once rivaled larger cities in importance, and great fortunes were amassed there in the wholesale, outfitting, and mercantile industries.
The fortunes accumulated by "Old St. Joseph" were notoriously never invested in the city's growth; they were put into bank accounts where they preserved the power and influence of the Men Who Made St. Joseph the City Worth While (the title of a local history), while making the city a hermetically sealed place where nothing changed, and no outside influence or investment could penetrate.
It was a strange atmosphere in which to grow up, in a town where time stood still, and a conservative, repressive, and airless atmosphere prevailed.
On my many bike rides around the city as a teenager, my favorite areas were Museum Hill, just north of the downtown area, and the Hall Street historic district, just to the west. These areas displayed an opulence and a sense of past glory that hinted at St. Joseph's glorious past, yet a past that stood still, transfixed in a time warp from the turn of the 20th century.
Thanks to injections of cash, some of these mansions have been not just preserved but restored to their once-grand glory. The Adam N. Schuster house, pictured below in views from the Historic American Buildings Survey (Library of Congress) is one such mansion, a building that captured and held my interest from my teen years onward. Variously operated as a B&B and private residence, the mansion has survived into the 2020s in a good state of preservation.
In about 1985, when Linda Farber, its then owner, disposed of the property, I attended an estate sale in the house over a period of two or three weekends. Among my purchases were a painted folding screen, a pair of cast brass Chinese candelabra, a signed fan photograph by movie actress Norma Talmadge , a Royal Rudolstadt porcelain ewer, and an oil portrait of an unknown woman. These items were all disposed of years later before my move to China to begin a new life as a teacher.
The Schuster Mansion remains the most well-known local historic residence, along with the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion on Museum Hill, for many years the site of the St. Joseph Museum, and now a combination museum / events center.
Below are photographs from the HABS survey of 703 Hall Street, along with a video about the house from a Kansas City TV channel. The interiors are quite striking, and hopefully the houses' current furnishings are in keeping with its grand past.

Description of the house from the HABS Report
Toni M. Prawl's 1994 dissertation on architect Edmond Jacques Eckel [E.J. Eckel (1845-1934): The Education of a Beaux-Arts Architect and His Practice in Missouri] confirms Eckel and Mann (formed 1880) as responsible for the Schuster residence's design. Of interest is the mention of Stigers and Boettner as builders. Eckel had been in partnership with Francis R. Boettner until 1979, after Lewis Snell Stigers had supposedly retired. I will need to do some fact checking on this chronology.
The following photographs are from the HABS report, Library of Congress collection.

Schuster (1881) vs. Wyeth-Tootle (1879) mansions: Two Victorian Italianates, symmetrical and regular, with projecting porches and bay windows. They differ only in the heavier cornice and prominent roof on the Schuster, and the extra attic story on the Wyeth-Tootle, not to mention the asymmetrically-placed tower at the left, an influence of castles on the Rhine.
Here are some screencaps from the video above:

Interestingly, I haven't located any interior photographs of the Schuster residence online, other than the HABS images. Other Hall Street interiors have been illustrated on sites such as Zillow, but not this one. If anyone knows of such images, please contact me.

Batman (vol. 1) #11: The Joker's Advertising Campaign/Payment in Full/Bandits in Toyland/Four Birds of a Feather
Read Date: September 25, 2022 Cover Date: July 1942 ● Writer: Bill Finger ◦ Edmond Hamilton ● Penciler: Bob Kane ● Inker: Jerry Robinson ◦ George Roussos ● Colorist: {uncredited} ● Letterer: Jerry Robinson ◦ George Roussos ● Editor: George Roussos ●
Tumblr media
Synopsis 1: The Joker enters a contest and wins the prize for impersonating himself. The news reach Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, who become aware of Joker's return. After this, the Joker decides to pull crimes giving away hints on the advertising section of the newspapers. In this fashion, Joker pulls his first heist and a street is filled with old time vehicles, while Joker steals a nearby jewelry store. Batman and Robin chase the criminal using some of the vehicles available, but they lose track of the maniac when he takes the subway train.
Joker's next hit is during the performance of Presto the magician. Bruce Wayne attends the event hoping to meet with Linda Page, but Robin soon deduces Joker's plans and he goes to the place to warn Bruce, who changes into Batman, but is knocked unconscious on stage while Joker and his goons get away. Robin follows them to the underground escape route and tries to stop them, but he is outnumbered. Tired of Robin's interference in his plans, Joker decides to kill the youngster by locking him in a room with burning sulphur that would asphixiate him. When Robin is left alone, he takes some telephone cables from the floor and sends a message for Batman. A few minutes later, Batman has received the message and is looking for Robin with help from the Gotham City Police Department. When he finally finds the kid, it is too late as Robin is already dead. Desperate, Batman takes a special machine from the police officers and puts it on Robin's mouth. The machine pulls out the sulphur from Robin's lungs while at the same time pushes in fresh air. Robin recovers and Batman takes him back to Wayne Manor.
With Robin out of danger, Batman deduces Joker's next move and goes there alone. Joker was pretending to be a painter in the rooftop of a building while his henchmen steal from the apartments below. Batman locates Joker, causes him to drop to the street and then he beats the criminal to a pulp for trying to kill Robin. Joker is sent back to jail and Bruce is satisfied with his payback.
Synopsis 2: Batman and Robin capture Joe Dolan, but they learn that District Attorney Benson wouldn't prosecute the man because he owed his life to the criminal. When Benson was a kid, he was saved by Joe Dolan and now that they're adults, he has the duty of giving him the death sentence.
When Joe Dolan escapes from jail, Batman and Robin ask for Benson's help, who takes them to Joe Dolan's hideout. Feeling betrayed, Joe Dolan tries to kill his once good friend and he manages to escape. After a lengthy chase, Joe Dolan falls to the river and Benson dives in to save his former friend. When they reach shore, Benson feels that he has paid his debt, but Joe Dolan wants to kill him. Batman and Robin arrive just in time to capture Joe Dolan and end his vendetta.
Benson is later chosen to be Governor and Joe Dolan is sentenced to die in the electric chair.
Synopsis 3: Bruce Wayne is summoned on jury duty on the case of a man that has apparently been stealing jewelry from the store he worked on. During the trial, Bruce realizes that the man is being framed and he soon decides to find the truth as Batman.
With some help from Robin, they learn that some of the workers of the store were henchmen for a crime boss, who organized them in order to place the jewels inside toys that they would later recover from the people who bought the toys. Following the clues, Batman and Robin confront several members of the gang until they finally find the leader. Batman shakes the man a bit roughly until he gives Batman the information he needs.
At the last day of trial, the jury find the man guilty, but before the judge can give out the final verdict, a police officer enters the room and gives the judge a box. Inside there's a bat and a confession note, in which the leader of the gang explains how he framed an innocent man. The police confirms that the criminals are already arrested and the judge dismisses the case.
Synopsis 4: The Penguin is reunited with some of his former colleagues: Lovely Canary, Joe Crow and Benny Buzzard; all of them named after some bird. They decide to start a new scam racket on Florida and they open a casino, where they play everything clean, but when people leave with their winnings, one of them steal their won money.
By coincidence, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are on vacation on Florida and they spot Lovely Canary swimming on the treacherous waters when she is suddenly attacked by a big squid. Batman jumps to the water and saves the lady from the creature, earning Canary's gratitude.
That night, Bruce attends the famous casino and he recognizes some of Penguin's goons and he realizes that there's something wrong in the casino. Bruce is victim of the criminal's scam after he leaves the building, but knowing that something like this would happen, he tipped Robin previously and the kid rescued the "helpless" Bruce Wayne. After a quick change of gears, Batman appears and takes the fight against the criminals. Penguin, who followed his crew to the place, creates a distraction with his umbrella, allowing the criminals to escape.
The next day, Batman learns of a fixed boat race by Penguin and he decides to change the outcome. Batman takes control of the speeding boat and afterwards, he tries to bring down the criminals with Robin's help. However, Robin is captured by the crooks and Batman is forced to go to the casino to learn where have they taken Robin. When Batman arrives at the place, he is informed about a secret place but Canary, remembering his heroic feat, warns Batman about a trap. The thug tries to shoot Canary for betraying them, but Batman gets in the way and knocks down the thug. Batman leaves the place, telling Canary that he's fine, when in reality, he was shot in the stomach and started to bleed badly.
Gathering all his energy, Batman manages to reach the criminals' secret hideout during a tropical storm and he sneaks inside the place without the criminals noticing. Rescuing the boy wonder, Batman and Robin fight the criminals forcing them to leave, but the dark knight is far too injured to keep going. They spend the night, tied to a palm tree and when the sun rises and the storm has faded away, they are found by Canary, who tries to get Batman to a hospital as soon as possible. However, the storm has left many injured people behind and there are no doctors available. Canary, using her nursery training, takes Batman to a private room and performs surgery to remove the bullet from him.
With Batman out of action, Robin goes to the casino and takes the entire gang down by himself. While Batman is still recovering, Robin takes the Penguin with him and informs Batman that they're going to deliver him to the authorities in Gotham. Before they leave, Canary bids Batman farewell and tells him that she is going to stop being a criminal and she's going straight thanks to him. Batman and Robin take Penguin back to Gotham, but as soon as the small man has the chance, he escapes from their grip and remains at large.

Espirito Santo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmIB844LcKY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

American Matt Quigley answers Australian land baron Elliott Marston’s ad for a sharpshooter to kill the dingoes on his property. But when Quigley finds out that Marston’s real target is the aborigines, Quigley hits the road. Now, even American expatriate Crazy Cora can’t keep Quigley safe in his cat-and-mouse game with the homicidal Marston. Credits: TheMovieDb. Quigley Down Under is directed by Simon Wincer and written by John Hill. It stars Tom Selleck, Laura San Giacomo and Alan Rickman. Music is by Basil Poledouris and cinematography by David Eggby. Plot sees Selleck as Matthew Quigley, a Wyoming cowboy and sharp shooting rifleman who answers an advertisement to go to Western Australia as a hired sharp shooter. If proving his worth, he’s to work for Elliot Marston (Rickman), but when Marston outlines his sick reasons for hiring Quigley, the pair quickly become on a collision course that can only see one of them survive. It was written in the 1970s by John Hill, where it was hoped that Steve McQueen would take on the lead role, but with McQueen falling ill and Clint Eastwood allegedly passed over, the project sat on ice until 1990. In came Selleck and the film finally got made. Just about making back its money at the box office, Wincer’s movie deserved far better than that. It’s competition in the Western stakes in 1990 were Costner’s beautiful and elegiac Dances With Wolves and the Brat Pack bravado of Young Guns II, both vastly different films from each other, and both considerably different from Quigley Down Under. If those two films contributed to the average response to the Selleck picture? I’m not completely sure, but viewing it now one tends to think that the 1990 audience just wasn’t ready for such a delightfully old fashioned Oater, one that features a straight and simple narrative to tell its tale. It’s safe to say that anyone after deep psychological aspects will not get that here. There’s some serious themes in the story, such as the horrid genocide towards Aborigines, while the deft kicks at the British are fair enough even to a British guy such as myself. But in the main this is old time Western fare, ...
