What's the limit of Vorthos character naming, in your opinion? Mirari became Memnarch; Narset of the Khans timeline and Narset of the Dragons timeline; Phage, Akroma, Karona, are all Jeska, that nonsense; Lim-Dul = Raven Man?; is there anything here that's off the table? Can you think of canon Magic lore that Vorthos "nonbo"s with?

If the two different named characters are clearly the evolution of the same being, it's all good for Vorthos.

Gustha's Scepter gets flubbed! Are you a fool for not having your copy?

Flubs, the fool is spiking the reserved list card Gustha's scepter. There is some true demand as the two cards synergize almost perfectly. I would play the scepter in every flubs deck and I think it is a staple in that deck. It also sees a little play in other commander decks and even storm decks so it is not a completely useless card. However, the card has currently surpassed the five dollar mark in market price and is almost 13 dollars on average. The card is quickly on the rise. Flubs is currently ranked 4th on edhrec in commander of the week meaning it was the 4th most built deck on the website during this week. Many people are interested in the commander and many people are actually building the deck. Flubs is already the 27th commander of the month with 1557 decks and the card has not even officially been released. The card seems destined to be a big hit out of Bloomburrow although I think part of this is an artificial manipulation since Flubs is an exclusive buy a box promo. This is not the first time Gustha's scepter has spiked. It was five bucks in 2018 during the first wave of reserved list buyouts and it had a high of almost fifteen dollars in 2021. The card is NOT at an all time high at the moment but that could change very quickly. Players seem to really want to build Flubs decks and I do not think you build the deck without the scepter. I could see the card going up a little more especially after the cards release in paper and people can actually build the decks. Who knows how high the price can go if flubs becomes one of the top commanders of all time or if the card becomes cedh viable. Gustha is a character in magic the gathering lore. Gustha originally assisted Lim Dul to capture jodah but turned on the villain. The fight between gustha and lim dul was depicted in the trailer for ice age. Gustha does not have a legendary creature card but it is possible that it could happen one day especially if the scepter continues to see attention. I can imagine the scepter might play well with the legendary card and that might further drive the price of the card although this could be years in the future or it could never happen. I do not think this is the time to invest in copies of gustha's scepter but I have a rule that I obtain 4 copies of any card that costs 0 or can be cast for free regardless of what the card does. Never underestimate the power of free.

When did the great barrier of Shandalar come down? I had assumed it was in the mending, but Ob Nixilis interacts with the chain veil before the mending. The dates don't seem to work out. An unknown amount of time after the Ice Age ended, we are told it will stay up for more than 1704 years. Ice Age ends in 2934. So if we assume Multiple generations lived and died in zero years, we get the barrier coming down in 4638, which is still in the future, right?

The number given at the end of the Microprose game is variable based on what you do in the game. If you were watching a video or only played through it once, you might not realize that. So the number given at the end isn't canon.

The Great Barrier falls somewhere between 2946 and 3560 AR. After Lim-Dul's War but before Nahiri is sealed in the Helvault.

Cornwall's Random Card of the Day #684: The Raven Man

For years, the Magic lore community was abuzz with the question "Who is the Raven Man?"

Then they found out it was Lim-Dul.

The Raven Man is a rare from Dominaria United. Okay, okay, so. Raven Man. He was the dude who gave Liliana the cure for her brother's illness when she was young that actually killed him and turned him into a zombie. Which sparked her planeswalker spark, and led her down the path of darkness and soul-mortgage she's been on ever since. And he showed up periodically to give her cryptic advice for most of her life. Everybody was wondering what was up with this dude, so the reveal it was just ol' Lim-Dul the necromancer from Ice Age was a pretty big letdown. Just another example of WotC fumbling the ball with the storyline.

As a card, this guy's pretty decent. Encourages discard while facilitating it, albeit poorly. You don't wanna spend 4 mana each turn just to negate enemy draws and get a bird. I mean, sometimes it's fine, but really, you want to pair him with some discard spells. Otherwise why would they have made him a 2 drop?

I guess technically he should be a zombie wizard, too, since he's some kinda undead maniac. That would give away the reveal, but they kinda just dumped it on the community anyhow, so, not much downside.

I wonder where Mr. Kytheon Iora (called Gideon, Gids, and BeefSlab by his friends!) is in the Beyond The Neon Veil universe. I hope he's doing alright.

Gideon is definitely a victim of not really having a place I could reasonably put him in the cast, and now the story is too far along to squeeze him in somewhere.

I imagine our boy Kytheon, who changed his name to Gideon early in his career, is an actor who mostly stars in action rolls, who really wants to branch out but never gets the opportunity. Does a lot of his own stunts, is a really nice guy who donates a lot to charity. He's dating Liliana Vess, who's probably a fellow actor who met him on the set of a movie they were both in- although she normally lends her talents to more artsy, indy projects. She gets asked about him a lot in interviews, and she just fucking dunks on him whenever he gets brought up. Meanwhile Gideon is just "I love my girlfriend, she's great :3 ♡". They've been together for years.

I imagine Liliana is still immortal in the Neon Veil-verse, and has been in a cycle of climbing up the celebrity ladder, faking her own death, hiding around for a few decades before reinventing herself and resurfacing again. She's gotten really good at this, but she also hasn't shared this little fact with Gideon at all.
