“So, you need a service dog and I need to partially relearn how to walk. And Lukey here has found his birth parents but isn’t sure if he actually wants to meet them. How much more screwed up could this family get?” I asked my siblings.

“I’m here!” Taylor shouted entering the living room.

“That’s your answer, Padamé,” Leia said laughing.

“I heard that, but your not wrong. All we need now is mum to come-” I said before I was cut off.

“Don’t you dare finish that thought. She’s tried to claim she can cure my epilepsy and cancer through vibes and aloe vera. Twice this week alone and it’s still Monday.”

“Ahh, the insanity of aunt Gwen. How I don’t miss that while in New York. You know Joe’s family is actually normal,” Taylor said eating some of the chips on the table.

“I wonder what that feels like?” I asked her.

“I have no clue. Maybe Luke can tell us. If he ever actually meets them,” Leia said looking at our unusually silent brother.

“I will. Maybe. I don’t know.”

“Relax you don’t have to decide now. Anyway ask your fuck buddy for advice,” Leia said confusing us all, “What he lives at home and the walls aren’t completely soundproof much to my disgust. “I can handle ringing a doorbell and asking for my sister,” Luke said to me.

“I’ve had one drink Pads. That’s all. I’m fine. You have to worry about making sure Taylor isn’t too drunk to go on stage. Her fans are terrifying,” Luke told me looking at a slightly loopy Taylor in the back seat.

“I’ve got the expert on it. Right, Sophie?” I said turning to the back seat.

“I’m feeding her as many sandwiches as I can without ruining her vocal cords.”

“Joe?” Luke asked her.

“Kevin.”

“I’m going now.”

“COOL!” I yelled back at him, “He’s going to mess this up.”

“You looked in the file?” Sophie asked.

“Yeah everyone thought I was too loopy to do anything. I saw the parents’ photo and I’ve met these guys. So he just can���t find out,” I told her as Taylor seemed to come more and more out of her drunken state.

“You think they’ll recognize him?” Taylor asked.

“Maybe or maybe they’ll recognize him from the movies or…”

“Maybe they won’t and when he finds out he’ll be devastated that they were this close but just out of reach,” Taylor finished my thoughts, “Does he know their last name’s Holland?”

“No, he doesn’t,” Leia says taking her seat next to Taylor.

“What are Luke and your friend’s dad possibly talking about?” Sophie asked her.

“They’re talking about beer.”

“You knew?” Sophie asked.

“I heard a fight between Dom and Nikki a few weeks ago and I heard something about another child. And so with some quick googling, I figured it out. It wasn’t that hard,” Leia shrugged, “Also Sophie because you’re my cool sister-adjacent person and mum said I could get away with murder at the moment so… can I get my nose pierced?”

“First, thank you for calling me your sister. Second, your mother said murder not getting a nose piercing. Third, ask your actual sister and if she says yes I’ll go with you after the concert,” Sophie told her.

“I say do you have proof she said you could get away with anything and if so then yes,” I told her.

“I have a voice recording and given that much, to my dismay, she’s registered as my primary caregiver her word out ways dads. Also is Taylor drunk before her concert?” I told Leia before turning to Sophie as Luke got in the car.

“Yes, she is.”

“Cool.”

“Hey, Luke, enjoy bro talk?” I asked.

“Yes and Taylor can they come tonight? I may have promised them they could,” Luke said getting in the car.

“Honestly, I’m too drunk to care so sure.”

“We can go drivin' in, on my scooter,” Taylor stated singing as I pushed Luke onto the stage with the mic.

“Uh, you know, just riding in London Alright,” Luke sang walking onto the stage the crowd roared when they saw him.

“I love my hometown as much as Motown, I love SoCal And you know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey,” Taylor sang again.

“But something happened, I heard him laughing, I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent,” Luke sang before they stated singing together.

“He’s thinking about Haz, he has to be,” I said to Leia as we danced in the wings.

And Dad punched the shooter when security brought him around.

Aunt Andrea was stood like a statue like many of the other people backstage.

My fellow friends who are down for some Quality Children’s Programming: I have a SHOW FOR YOU

A show was just added to Disney+ called Mech-X4. It aired on Disney XD from 2016-2018 before getting cancelled after the second season. It’s absolutely perplexing that a show as good as that one got hardly any attention (the tumblr fandom is LITERALLY, like, me on another account and 6 other people. literally. the active twitter fandom is me and one other person). NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE THIS SHOW THE CULT FOLLOWING IT DESERVES. HERE’S MY PITCH. THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH MECH-X4.

The premise: Four boys in high school (later joined by a freaking AWESOME girl) pilot a giant 150 foot robot and fight giant monsters with it. The main character controls the robot because he has a power that lets him control technology and he’s bonded to the robot. GIANT ROBOT FIGHTING GIANT MONSTERS. SUPERPOWERS. I don’t even need to say anything else! You should already be dying to watch it! But that’s only the BEGINNING

If you want a show. About four teenaged boys who are like “bro. bro. I love you and I would die for you and I’m not ashamed about that” THEN THIS IS THE SHOW. The level of PLATONIC LOVE between these kids. It’s EVERYTHING YOU WANT. There are some relationships that start out super strong, there are some relationships where the characters are learning to love each other, it’s just. It’s so good. You will love it. There’s NONE of that “I am Masculine and therefore it is Not Cool to show I care about you.” Nah man. There’s a lot of hugging. Lots of hands on shoulders. HUGGING. GOD. DONT EVEN TOUCH ME I LOVE THIS SHOW

The Highlight of the above aspect is the relationship between the protagonist and his brother. Do you want a really strong and loving brotherly relationship? Then THIS IS THE SHOW FOR YOU. Their relationship is a bit rocky when we first meet them but it gets strong QUICK. Things are awkward between them sometimes as they learn how to show each other they love each other, but THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. Lots of hugging. Lots of them being worried about each other. AAAAAAAA I WOULD LITERALLY DIE FOR THIS SHOW

The show can get intense for a kids’ show too! There’s a dash of implied torture (both torture that was about to happen and torture that actually happened). There’s this whole situation where it’s basically like the protagonist’s mind gets ripped in half. A few devastating betrayals. One of the kids flatlines at one point and everybody cries. That’s not even all of it. It’s wild! It’s a great time!

Do you want some nice HURT/COMFORT? If you’re like me then yeah you do AND THIS IS ALSO THE SHOW FOR YOU. The main character is bonded to the robot so whatever happens to the robot, he feels! NEED I SAY MORE?? Do you want a main character with a pain tolerance high enough to be concerning? Do you want a protagonist who pushes himself to his absolute limits and says “I’m fine I can handle it!” until he literally passes out (like literally passes out)? Seriously it could be like, a drinking game to take a shot every time this protag says “I’m fine.” Do you want those Sweet Sweet Moments where the brother RUSHES to his side like “YOU OKAY BUDDY?” the second he’s able? Who here DOESN’T want that. It’s EVERYTHING you want

The writing is honestly pretty darn good. There are twists and turns that took me by surprise, and I’m definitely older than the target audience. The story is really interesting and every episode has a purpose, so it’s always engaging. The two seasons are basically one big arc so it’s really cool to see how everything grows and connects. There isn’t a single bad episode in my opinion. The show does a really good job of building on itself. Something will happen and you’ll be like “oh that’s WILD that’s SERIOUS” and then something even MORE wild and serious will happen but the things that come before it don’t lose their weight because everything builds on what comes before it. The characters are GREAT, they’re so vividly written and acted (for REAL they got some talented young actors doing this show). They get pretty well developed over the course of the series and are SO likable, I honestly can’t even pick a favorite. And as far as the humor goes, the target audience is probably somewhere around 12 years old so yeah okay that definitely factors in BUT if that doesn’t bother you, I don’t think it takes away from the show and there are actually plenty of jokes that still land even when you’re older than the target audience.

It’s also diverse! 3/4 of the core group of boys are people of color and as I mentioned before a really great female character joins the main group later on. The cool thing about the show is that it doesn’t treat the characters any differently because they’re not white or because they’re girls. So that’s definitely cool for kids who were watching- a black kid could watch this show and see a protagonist who looks like him but is treated the same way that any given white superhero would be. A little girl could watch this show and see a girl just like her who is extremely smart, good with science, and can outwit every single boy she hangs out with. The show is good about being casually “woke”- there are definitely social messages there, but they don’t distract from the plot, they’re just a natural part of the world.

The production quality is also pretty darn good for a network Disney show! The way it was filmed has a very cinematic feel. The sets and filming locations are beautiful. The CGI is better than you’d think it would be considering they were animating some pretty big things. They really pulled out all the stops for this one.

As far as live action Disney XD shows go there seem to be a lot of fans of Lab Rats? So for a point of reference, if you ever watched that and you were like “this could go really hard if it weren’t a sitcom” like if you’ve ever felt like “I want this but without the laugh track” then yeah give Mech-X4 a shot

he’s, like, one-third scandinavian, but born in belfast. raised in the uk, his family moved from ireland to essex when he was six.

his mom’s a huge business lady, dad was an interior designer. his parents divorced when he was thirteen, and two years later he lost his dad in a house fire.

and everything kinda just went downhill from there? niels’ life became a series of unfortunate events, changes that he could do nothing to prevent and this constant feeling of emptiness. niels was a huge daddy’s boy. they bonded a bunch, shared love for film. the loss of his favorite relative was devastating, and living with his mom and her new lover only made things worse.

a year later, when niels is sixteen, his mother marries the new dude and they decide to fuck off to america. of course, homeboy is dragged along, very much against his own will.

they start an illusion of a big, happy family. his mom, this rich prick thomas, his two shit children and then niels. they buy a gigantic house somewhere in seattle and.. that’s just their life from now on.

the two years of high school suck ass and that’s the truth. in between eating lunch in the bathroom stall and attending way-too-wild-for-his-liking parties, niels also finds himself thinking there really, really must be something up with him. now while all of his lads are getting laid somewhere, he gets high on the living room couch, hoping maybe that will help him find all these girls at least slightly… arousing?

has had like two girlfriends, but it was all very forced and way more friendly than romantic. for a while he kinda just assumed he was either asexual or fucked up, but then he developed a lil crush on one of his mates and that was like ??? red flags ??? hello , what !?

Xaphan has frequentnightmares about his abusive alcoholic father. They usually involve flashbacks.And yes, they affect his mood a lot.
