Had a plant-based kfc sandwich. Really liked it; couldn't tell the difference between it and real chicken. It was hard figuring out which sandwich was mine and which was roomie's.
Apparently the plant-based kfc sandwich is a permanent item on the Canadian menu, hopefully it'll come to the US one, too. The patty is made by a company called Lightlife, which I'd heard of before but hadn't had any of their products. Honestly, I liked it. Could've been a little bigger, but other than that, no complaints.
I think next time I'll get extra lettuce. If you're vegan, make sure to ask for no mayo.

Dungeon Meshi vegan recipe challenge, Chapter 4: Omelet
Ok, I really did try to make an omelet this time, but I still ended up with a scramble. I went with carrot as my mandrake substitute. This dish was just ok. Nothing special. I might try daikon next time and see what that's like. Ketchup is not something I would normally pair with eggs, but I went ahead and did it. I still wouldn't choose it as my sauce of choice, but since the lightlife bacon doesn't taste too much different from the lightlife hot dogs, it meshed will with that portion of the omelet, anyway.
Ingredients (1 omelet):
3 oz carrot, minced
2 slices lightlife bacon, minced
2 srv Just Egg
salt, pepper
ketchup on the side

When I decided to go plant-based, one thing I did was swap out some of my go-to foods with plant based options.
Here are some of my faves:
Butter: Earth Balance Buttery Spread (perfect as a margarine substitute) and Miyokos Plant Butter (as a butter substitute). Both look, taste and spread exactly like butter.
Milk: Califia Brand Plant Milks - the Organic Unsweetened Almond Milk and the Gluten-Free Oat Milk are awesome, and have clean ingredients.
Ice Cream: My personal favorite is Talenti Dairy-Free Sorbetto in strawberry or vanilla bean. So Delicious are also amazing.
Cheese: Follow Your Heart for slices, Violife for shredded and Miyokos for block mozzarella, feta and liquid mozzarella (melts like conventional mozzarella in the oven.) Daiya makes a havarti block cheese that I really like, too. In terms of queso, we LOVE Good Foods brand Plant-Based Queso. It’s got really clean ingredients.
Sour cream: Kite Hill is our favorite, but we also use Tofutti when Kite Hill isn’t available.
Bacon: Lightlife makes a really good tempeh bacon.
Chicken and Fish: Tofurky brand makes chick’n and turkey that are straight up delish. Their Chick’n is gluten-free, so I personally stick with that one. They also make turk’y cutlets that a lot of people love for sandwiches.
Ground Beef: Beefy Crumbles by Beyond are tasty and gluten-free, and have a great texture.
Burgers: If you like the taste of traditional burgers, I recommend Impossible brand. It’s gluten-free and tastes like a beef burger. My husband loves them. There are some healthier options out there, too. Dr. Praeger’s and Hilary’s are my absolute favorites!
Frozen Meals: In a pinch, Amy’s and Sweet Earth both have good options that are on the healthier side.
REMEMBER THIS
⬇️⬇️⬇️
Here’s the thing to remember when it comes to substitutes: switching over to these plant-based versions of some of your go-tos isn’t all you need to do to lose weight and get healthy. These options are healthier in than they’re cholesterol and hormone free, but a processed food is still a processed food. I teach women how to indulge in these foods while making whole, clean foods the bulk of their diet🌱

I did the thing I tell other vegans not to do: I used a bunch of analogue items to make this steakhouse pasta salad.
Meati steak, lightlife bacon, tofutti sour cream and veganaise. Besides that, garlic, chickpea pasta, green beans, bell pepper, apple cider vinegar, leftover caramelized onions, and nutritional yeast.
It was delicious.

Where to Get Vegan Hot Dogs Near Me: A Plant-Based Guide to Deliciousness
For many, the hot dog evokes memories of summer barbecues and baseball games. But what if you follow a vegan lifestyle? Does that mean giving up on this classic American comfort food? Absolutely not! The world of vegan food has exploded in recent years, offering delicious and satisfying alternatives to traditional meat-based options.
The good news is, finding delectable vegan hot dogs is easier than ever! This guide will help you navigate the exciting world of plant-based hot dogs and point you in the direction of delicious options near you.
The Rise of the Vegan Hot Dog
Gone are the days of rubbery, flavorless veggie burgers. Today's plant-based hot dogs are bursting with flavor and texture, rivaling their meat-based counterparts in every way. Made from a variety of ingredients like lentils, beans, mushrooms, and seitan, vegan hot dogs offer a healthier and more sustainable alternative to traditional hot dogs.
Finding Vegan Hot Dogs Near You
The internet is your best friend when it comes to finding vegan hot dogs near you. Simply search for "Vegan Hot Dogs near me" and you'll be presented with a list of restaurants, grocery stores, and even food trucks offering plant-based hot dog options.
Hot Dog Restaurants Cater to Vegan Cravings
Many popular hot dog restaurants are jumping on the vegan bandwagon, offering delicious plant-based options alongside their traditional hot dogs. For instance, is there a Hot Dog Company in San Jose on your radar? Don't be surprised if they have a dedicated vegan section on their menu, featuring innovative hot dog creations made with plant-based sausages.
Look Beyond Hot Dog Stands: Grocery Stores Offer Plant-Based Options Too
Don't limit your search to restaurants! Many grocery stores now stock a wide variety of vegan hot dog options in their freezer section. Popular brands like Lightlife, Field Roast, and Beyond Meat offer delicious plant-based sausages that can be grilled, boiled, or even baked at home.
Frankfurters Hot Dogs: A Haven for Meat Lovers, But Can Vegans Join the Party?
Frankfurters Hot Dogs, known for their classic all-beef hot dogs, might not be the first place that comes to mind when searching for vegan options. However, with a little creativity, you can still enjoy the Frankfurters experience as a vegan. Many Frankfurters locations offer veggie burgers on their menu. You can also ask to substitute the hot dog in their combo meals with a veggie burger, creating your own plant-based version of their classic dishes.
The Beauty of DIY Vegan Hot Dogs
One of the best things about vegan hot dogs is the versatility they offer. You're not limited to pre-made options! With a little effort, you can create your own gourmet vegan hot dog masterpieces at home. All you need are some high-quality vegan sausages from the grocery store and your favorite toppings.
Here are some tips for creating delicious DIY vegan hot dogs:
Choose the Right Sausage: Explore the variety of vegan sausages available at your local grocery store. Look for brands with good reputations for flavor and texture.
Get Creative with Toppings: Don't be afraid to experiment! Think caramelized onions, roasted peppers, fresh herbs, vegan cheese, or even a drizzle of sriracha mayo.
The Bun Matters: Choose a high-quality bun that complements your vegan sausage. Fluffy brioche buns, pretzel buns, or even gluten-free varieties provide delicious options.
Make it a Meal: Pair your vegan hot dog with delicious sides like vegan potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, or even a side salad.
Gather Your Friends and Family: Hot dogs are perfect for casual gatherings! Host a "create-your-own-vegan-hot-dog" night and let everyone unleash their inner chef.

Street tacos
Cold brew coffee
Avocado toast
Avocado toast is a simple and popular breakfast or brunch dish in the United States. It typically consists of mashed avocado spread on top of a slice of toasted bread, often sourdough or whole wheat, and seasoned with salt, pepper, and sometimes lemon juice.
Additional toppings may include sliced tomatoes, microgreens, feta cheese, bacon, or a poached egg. The dish has gained popularity in recent years due to the rise in popularity of avocados, which are a nutrient-dense fruit rich in healthy fats and fiber. Avocado toast is also often marketed as a healthy and easy meal option for people with busy lifestyles.
Plant-based meat alternatives
Plant-based meat alternatives are food products designed to mimic the taste, texture, and appearance of traditional meat products, but made entirely from plant-based ingredients. They have become increasingly popular in the United States as more people adopt vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian diets, and as concerns grow about the environmental and ethical impact of animal agriculture.
Some popular plant-based meat alternatives in the US include Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods, and Lightlife. These products are made using a variety of ingredients such as pea protein, soy protein, wheat gluten, and beet juice, which are processed and combined to create a meat-like texture and flavor.
Plant-based meat alternatives are often marketed as a healthier, more sustainable, and more ethical alternative to traditional meat. They are also popular among consumers who are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, as animal agriculture is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. While plant-based meat alternatives are not necessarily healthier than traditional meat, they do offer a viable alternative for those who are looking to reduce their meat intake without sacrificing taste or convenience.
Poke bowls
Poke bowls are a popular Hawaiian dish that has become increasingly popular in the United States in recent years. They typically consist of cubes of raw fish, usually tuna or salmon, served over a base of rice or salad greens, and topped with various vegetables, sauces, and seasonings.
The term “poke” means “to slice” in Hawaiian, and the dish is believed to have originated in Hawaii as a way for fishermen to use up the less desirable parts of their catch. Today, poke bowls have evolved into a trendy and healthy meal option, and can be found in many restaurants and food trucks across the US.
Poke bowls are often customizable, with many different variations available. Some popular ingredients include avocado, seaweed, cucumber, edamame, and spicy mayo sauce. Poke bowls are often marketed as a healthy and fresh option, as they typically feature high-quality, nutrient-dense ingredients such as fish and vegetables. They can also be a good source of protein and healthy fats, making them a popular meal option among health-conscious consumers.
Artisanal pizzas
Artisanal pizzas are pizzas that are made by skilled craftspeople using high-quality, fresh, and often locally-sourced ingredients. These pizzas are typically hand-crafted, with attention paid to every detail, from the crust to the toppings. Artisanal pizza makers may use traditional techniques, such as wood-fired ovens, to give the pizzas a unique, authentic flavor.
Artisanal pizzas are often associated with the “farm-to-table” movement, which emphasizes the use of locally-sourced, sustainable ingredients. The toppings on artisanal pizzas can vary widely, from classic margherita with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil, to more innovative combinations such as smoked salmon and cream cheese, or roasted vegetables with goat cheese.
In recent years, artisanal pizza has become increasingly popular, with many restaurants and pizzerias offering their own unique takes on this classic dish. Some artisanal pizzerias have even gained national and international recognition for their high-quality, innovative pizzas.
Craft beer
Craft beer is a type of beer that is brewed in small batches using traditional brewing methods and high-quality ingredients, often sourced locally. Craft beer is typically produced by independent breweries that are small in scale, with a focus on producing unique and flavorful beers that offer a departure from the mass-produced beers that dominate the market.
The craft beer movement began in the 1970s and has since grown into a major industry, with thousands of independent breweries operating around the world. These breweries often experiment with different ingredients, brewing techniques, and flavor profiles to create beers that appeal to a wide range of tastes.
Craft beer is known for its wide variety of styles, ranging from hoppy IPAs and rich stouts to tart sours and crisp lagers. Many craft breweries also offer limited edition or seasonal beers, often made with unique or unusual ingredients, to keep their offerings fresh and exciting.
The popularity of craft beer has also given rise to beer tourism, with many breweries offering tours and tastings for visitors. Craft beer festivals and events have also become popular, with beer lovers gathering to sample different brews and celebrate the art of craft brewing.
Top 10 trending foods in USA
Korean barbecue
Korean barbecue, also known as “gogi-gui” in Korean, is a popular style of Korean cuisine that involves grilling meat, typically beef, pork, or chicken, at the table. The meat is usually marinated in a sweet and savory sauce before being grilled, and it is often accompanied by various side dishes such as kimchi, pickled vegetables, and rice.
Korean barbecue is typically cooked on a grill or griddle that is built into the table, allowing diners to cook the meat themselves and enjoy it hot off the grill. It is a social and interactive dining experience, as everyone at the table takes part in cooking and sharing the food.
Some of the most popular types of Korean barbecue meat include bulgogi (thinly sliced beef marinated in a soy sauce-based marinade), galbi (beef short ribs marinated in a sweet and savory sauce), and samgyeopsal (thick slices of pork belly). Other types of meat, such as chicken, duck, and seafood, can also be cooked in this style.
Korean barbecue has become increasingly popular around the world, and there are now many Korean barbecue restaurants that serve this delicious and flavorful cuisine.
Ramen
Ramen is a Japanese noodle soup dish that has become popular around the world. It typically consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a savory broth that is often made with meat or fish, soy sauce, miso paste, and other seasonings. Ramen can be served in a variety of styles, such as shoyu (soy sauce-based), shio (salt-based), tonkotsu (pork bone-based), and miso (soybean paste-based), each with its unique flavor profile.
Ramen is usually served with a variety of toppings, such as sliced pork, boiled egg, green onions, and nori seaweed, although toppings can vary depending on the regional or personal preference. It is also common to add garlic, chili oil, or other condiments to adjust the flavor to taste.
Ramen is enjoyed both in casual settings, such as food stalls, as well as in more formal restaurants. It is a popular comfort food in Japan and has gained a following worldwide, with many Ramen shops opening up in major cities.
Street tacos
Street tacos are a popular type of taco commonly found in Mexico and in Mexican-American communities in the United States. They are typically served on soft corn tortillas and filled with a variety of grilled or roasted meats, such as beef, pork, chicken, or shrimp, as well as vegetables.
The meat is often marinated with a variety of spices and seasonings, and then grilled over an open flame or on a griddle, giving it a smoky and slightly charred flavor. Common toppings for street tacos include chopped onions, cilantro, avocado, and a squeeze of lime, although the toppings can vary depending on the region or personal preference.
Street tacos are often served in a casual outdoor setting, such as food trucks or outdoor markets, and are usually sold at an affordable price. They are a favorite of many people for their portability and ease of eating on the go, as well as their delicious and authentic flavors.
Cold brew coffee
Cold brew coffee is a type of coffee that is brewed with cold or room temperature water, rather than hot water. The process of making cold brew coffee involves steeping coffee grounds in cold water for an extended period of time, usually between 12 and 24 hours, which allows the coffee to slowly infuse into the water, creating a rich and smooth flavor.
Cold brew coffee is typically less bitter and acidic than hot-brewed coffee, which makes it appealing to many people who find hot coffee too harsh or acidic. It is also served cold or over ice, which makes it a refreshing and popular drink during the summer months.
Cold brew coffee can be made using a variety of coffee beans, including light, medium, and dark roast. The coffee can be enjoyed black or with milk, cream, or sugar added to taste.
Cold brew coffee has become increasingly popular in recent years and is now commonly available at coffee shops and cafes around the world, as well as being available in pre-made bottles and cans in grocery stores.

LotR Marathon
I've never seen the LotR movies or read the books so I figured it's about time. My mom has always loved the books and kept trying to get me to read them. I read The Hobbit in 4th grade, then could not get through The Fellowship of the Ring, but decided to give it another shot now, so I re-read The Hobbit and read the entire trilogy, and I really enjoyed them! After that, we watched all of The Hobbit movies, and are now planning to marathon all of The Lord of the Rings movies (extended editions) with friends, and 7 hobbit meals (all vegetarian). We made most of the food ahead of time and froze it so there will be very little cooking the day of. Our planned date got postponed because we caught covid but we're hoping to do it soon!
Edit now that we did it! : I updated with a few changes based on what we actually did. In total, it took us about 13 hours with all the breaks for food. We were exhausted by the end and so stuffed, but we made it and had a great time!
1. Breakfast: Full English Breakfast (veg British style Baked Beans, vegan sausage, vegan bacon, fried eggs, sauteed mushrooms, pan fried tomatoes, toast)
2. Second Breakfast: Lembas
3. Elevenses: Potato Soup for Sam (omit the bacon or use veg bacon)
4. Luncheon: Pork Pies (to make it vegetarian: for the meat we used 3x Impossible beef and 1x Lightlife Sausage since Impossible sausage has garlic powder and someone coming couldn't have garlic, for the dough we used vegetable shortening, and for the jelly we used agar agar and veg broth)
5. Tea: Seed Cake, Beorn's Honey Cakes (made this into two small loaf cakes instead), also bought mini scones from Wegman's (Vanilla, blueberry, and orange cranberry) and served with clotted cream and jam (raspberry and orange marmalade)
6. Dinner: Tom Bombadil's - "yellow cream and honeycomb, and white bread, and butter; milk, cheese, green herbs, and ripe berries gathered" - we set out all of these, clotted cream as "yellow cream", butter, bread, 4 different cheeses (blueberry vanilla goat cheese, red dragon cheddar, "bree", and coastal cheddar), blueberries and raspberries, basil, sage, rosemary, thyme, and milk.
7. Supper: Farmer Maggot's - "a mighty dish of mushrooms and bacon" (used vegan thick cut bacon found here, fell apart a lot but still tastes good)

Dungeon Meshi vegan recipe challenge, Chapter 18: Grilled Meat (Kelpie)
Apparently both horse and sea mammals taste a bit like beef, so I made sure to have at least one beef substitute (Impossible burger). Vegan substitutes for liver are all over the place, but portobello mushrooms came up in the recipes a few times, so I used that.
For the other cuts I just went with whatever "meats" I had on hand. They did six types of meat in this one, but I only ended up doing five. All good except the Meati patty (thank goodness that's the last of it).
Ingredients (2 servings):
Seaweed
1 Portobello mushroom (forgot it in my picture. Oops)
1 Impossible burger (I formed it into 4 smaller patties for the aesthetic)
1 Meati patty
6 slices LightLife Smart Bacon
2 Gardein F'sh Filets (I know, I know, it's a mammal not a fish, but I had them on hand & I like them. :P)
Cabbage
Onion powder, salt, pepper
