we need to bring back OG fandom culture. i’m talking meaningless headcanons that make no sense that are understood by the whole fanbase, making tumblr blogs where you can ask characters questions, confessions posts, shipping two characters together for absolutely no reason other than “it’s entertaining”, “it would be funny” art comic strips, super long fanfics, less fandom infighting and more general wackiness and whimsyness… let’s just bring back FUN! please!!! people take fandom too seriously these days that they think everything has to be done a specific way or that someone is committing a heinous crime by doing something for fun and nothing else. i understand fandom gets very serious but i can’t help but feel like within the past few years it’s gotten to a point where we have lost that general sense of broad community. we need to bring back that level of stupid fun and simplicity. it’s what fandom is all about.

me when sean literally dreamt about telling his dad he kissed a boy because it was so important to him and he never got to have that conversation before he died, and he imagined his dad supporting him endlessly because he was experiencing a lack of that irl

So I've been writing for rarepairs for over 10 years now and this is the first time one of my stories has been actively attacked by a hater.

I was so happy and surprised that I got a comment so quickly and then I come across this:

I mean, my ship has less than 10 fanfics and that person's ship has 3k++ fanfics...

I don't think my silly rom-com will move the needle in the fandom at all. Why so much hate? 😢
