New Post has been published on http://www.tiggerreviews.com/24-hours-of-short-stories/
24 hours of short stories
This author is becoming a master story teller – especially of short – micro – stories.
The device used in this book is 24 hours in a cafe open for 24 hours. Within these 24 hours we read about the lives of the people who come to drink and eat there. Each person has story to tell whether it is about friendship, love, loss or even London and what it means to them. Woven through their stories is the major story about friendship and careers and London living for young women.
London is a place where you can wear anything you like, and be whoever you want without judgement.  The author says this but I have heard it myself from other young women who have some to London from more restrictive places, places perhaps where what you wear is noted and commented on, and who you are and what your sexuality is is restricted. No-one worries in London. People perhaps are too busy or too self-absorbed or too uncaring some would say. Others would say, London is free and permissive and allows people to expand and become who they were meant to be.
All this is noted in the micro stories told within these 24 hours.
A wonderful and masterful book.

Hello everyone, today I’m back with another #bookstagramchallenge which I saw over on the lovely Vicki’s page @antipodeanbookclub This is the #sixbooksixcountries challenge and I really had fun thinking about the different countries I could fictionally visit on my TBR pile. I love learning about different countries and cultures and with this list we’re starting in Sweden with The Darkest Day then travelling onto Nigeria with The Fishermen. It’s a long haul flight to Japan next with The Housekeeper and The Professor before I return to England for a break by The Lido. Finally I might head over to both New York and New Zealand with The Forrests before finishing my trip in beautiful Switzerland with The Gustav Sonata. I’m excited about all of these books but as always, I’d love to know your opinions on any or all of them! Let’s have a chat in the comments! #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #funandgameswithbooks #bookishgames #bookssetindifferentcountries #thedarkestday #hakannesser #thefishermen #chigozieobioma #thehousekeeperandtheprofessor #yokoogawa #thelido #libbypage #theforrests #emilyperkins #thegustavsonata #rosetremain #tbrpile #booksimexcitedtoread https://www.instagram.com/p/CMSqaBZgLNt/?igshid=uat83ylyagp

Cold Water Swimming
Brrrr…
My grandkids swim in an outdoor pool, I doubt it is heated, but I know their mother sits and watches wrapped in several blankets with a hot drink and a hot water bottle! Me – I like my water 30 degrees at least  – above permitted heat I know but…
So I maybe wouldn’t have joined the petition to keep the Lido open, not for me, but certainly there are lots of people who don’t mind the cold so maybe I would join for them. And for a Community Asset which should be kept of course!
I read a recent article by Libby Page who wrote of friendship. Across age, backgrounds and cultures. And the importance of community assets as meeting places to facilitate these friendships. without somewhere where everyone is welcomed, we are impoverished and the lesser for it.
This novel reminds us of the richness of a locality where feet traverse the soil and encounters with others is the norm.
I really must visit Brixton and the market!
