"Dinlenme ve Rahatlama Yılım" kitabı hakkında

Bu kitap için söyleyeceklerim herkese hitap etmeyebilir.

Kitapta sınıfsal farklılık ağır derecede belirgin olması baş karakterle(adı kitap boyunca söylenmiyor) empati yapmamı zorlastirdi açıkçası,belki de bu yüzden sevmedim bilemiyorum. Kitabı okurken acaba bu kadın orta sınıf olsaydı her şey bu kadar kolay olur muydu diye düşünmeden edemedim. Her gün sabahın köründe kalkıp işe yetişmek gibi bir koşuşturmasi olsaydı bu rahatlıkla depresyonun tadını çıkarabilir miydi? -depresyon tadı çıkarılacak bir şey değil tabi-bir sene boyunca ilaçlarla uyumak baya çılgınca geldi. Hanımefendi sürekli en yakın arkadaşının imaj kaygısı olmasının dalga geçilip aşağilanacak bir şeymiş gibi davranması,sürekli Revayi kendi içinde yermesi hiç hoşuma gitmedi. Güzellik, dış görünüş hiç önemli değilmiş gibi davranması ama ne zaman aynada kendini görse hala güzelim gibi ifadeler kullanması çok iticiydi günümuzde imaj kaygısı olmayan var mı cidden?? Neyse biz gelelim ailesi ile olan ilişkisine, ihmal edilmiş görmezden gelinmiş bir kız çocuğu var. Kitapta bunlardan bahsedilmeye başlaninca üzülmedim değil. Anne ve babasının trajik ölümü de tuzu biberi olmuş. Erkek arkadaşıyla olan ilişkisi de annesi ve babası ile olan ilişkisine çok benzettim.

Bu kitapta okuduğumuz kadın bana göre; yüzeysel ve sahte bir hayatın içinde bu yuzeysellik ve sahtelige uyum sağlamaya çalışan biridir.

It seems like I’m on a streak of very unsettling books, and I’m loving it.🧚🏻‍♀️✨💅🏻 I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions about Lapvona but so far I’m enjoying the plot. Yes, it is devastating and, well… gross. BUT the characters are unique and very interesting. They make me feel uneasy because of how unpredictable they are, and I think that’s great in this story. Jokes aside I never read anything from Ottessa Moshfegh before so I didn't have any expectations or fears about her new book.

Hence, I was ready to absorb everything from this novel like a well-behaved sponge.

By chance I happened across two of Ottessa Moshfegh's books & have been reading both. I definitely like My Year of Rest and Relaxation better. The stories in Homesick For Another World feel more like chapters in what should be longer stories than short stories. They feel incomplete and random. And now I know what people meant when they said her books have gross content. She didn't shy away from any bodily fluids. Even my pug is shocked by some of the content! Her stories cover sad & unlikeable characters & I'm not sure I'm really getting anything out of any of them. Her novel otoh has the same grotesque feel to it but with dashes of humor & insight that help lighten the darkness. Have you read either of these? What did you think of them?
