You need a source for why a fully custom battery for every phone model would cost more than a largely off the shelf solution that can be repurposed for multiple models, in multiple model tiers, over multiple generations? Which products have you bought that custom is cheaper than those produced at larger scale with more frequently interchangeable parts?

This post is not about Apple. It's literally every manufacturer. You may be able to find a few regional options online, but in most places you can't get a phone with a replaceable battery. You can look through the notes for confirmation. Here's an article talking about it. Here's an article that ate up the industry propaganda also talking about how they're gone.

Hostility to repair and making designs that increase waste and cost is fairly well known and rampant industry-wide. The move to make batteries harder and more expensive to replace is not new. Why would this be the one outlier area?

The printer industry is notorious for scam practices.

Ending user-unfriendly practices can never be defined as reducing choice. Embedded batteries, by their nature, reduce consumer choice, inflate prices, and make products less user friendly. Banning this bad-faith practice is a benefit for all phone users.

The point of a phone with removable batteries is easy replacement of batteries: walk into your carrier, Walmart, Best Buy, wherever and fix the issue in literal minutes. The few phones with removable batteries are not available locally in most regions, globally; ordering one online where you can't get parts on a whim when it needs a replacement defeats the point. If you need a new battery, in most cases, you can't simply wait for it to be shipped.

I really hope this impacts the devices we’ll have access to in the US.

Every argument for embedded batteries is a facade for charging customers more for the most common phone repair. All other reasoning is dishonest.
