I was going through the Leyren tags on here and wow they really let me down in every single way. I loved the nuance of your replies about them but seeing all the posts giving the writers the benefit of the doubt because everyone still had hope even after the weird bribe shit is still so sad. Not sure if a ship has baffled and let me down more. Hbu? Or are you smart and dip before ships get to the point of no return lol

ugh i wish i could say i was smart and dipped out but i legitimately watched the opening episodes of that last season thinking "Surely this will not be nonsensically cruel and unrealistic" and alas... ALAS. but i always like to play pretend for awhile that there's nuance, complexity, and compassion that can actually play out on television shows. Alas again.

i need like some sort of investigative podcast into these ships - or even whole shows - that just. seem to lose their collective minds at the end, whether it's the writers or the showrunners or the studios maybe?? examples of bonkers final seasons include: Wynonna Earp (w.. wh... what the fuck was that?), new amsterdam even beyond the Leyren disappointment, the resident, the l word (original), black lightning, and even supergirl.

it's not like the shows are phoning it in, because oftentimes there's a blitz of CGI and wild makeup choices, but the tone and storylines and vision just go the way of poor Lena Luthor in that one scene

the expression she's making is me going, "Lena.. what did they do to you?"

20.Your favourite fandom(s) to make graphics / gifs for Kacy no doubt! I made gifs and graphics about clexa, Ahsoka, the English, Leyren (New Amsterdam), For all Mankind, True detective Night Country. But nothing has ever inspired me as much as kacy. I love them so much and the people in this fandom are amazing. It was a great exprerience to watch S1 with all the energy, excitement, great analysis and theories. Best experience for me since I joined tumblr. I miss your kacy posts @hatchetation @halforcdad @100hearteyes

Super late to the party re:leyren but I’ve been catching up and reading posts and your thoughts are so excellent and perceptive. I know they didn’t stick the landing but god when they were good they were great! Miss them! No ship has really grasped me since tbh

oh my sweet, sweet, leyren. i can't remember the last time i've seen the writing quality on a show nosedive quite like NA did s1-3 vs s4-5. but i guess i do take comfort in the fact that they at least chose to focus on character growth for lauren in the final season and leyla was her last romantic storyline of the series. even if i'd argue that the twist of having leyla there while lauren went on her second character growth arc would've been a better evolution of her first growth arc from s1&2.

but yes, when they were good they were SO great!!! the right person, right time ship after character growth journey of dreams. and boy did they have some world class moments. i think the episode where leyla was working nights and lauren was dealing with missing her was one of the best episodes i've seen for a ship despite one half literally not even being on screen. the arc they took lauren through in s1-2 and the clear contrast in her dynamic with leyla vs everyone that came before was part of what made them such a compelling couple 😭 and leyla herself was such a breath of fresh air and interesting character addition. sigh what would've, could've, should've been. but we'll always have the good times of the ship!
