I’m still not sure who my favorite and least favorite West Wing characters are, but my early votes are Jed for favorite (because of his love of useless trivia and how supportive he is of his staff overall) and least favorite is Sam because he seems like a terrible date and the show could’ve done without his call girl plot.
Just random thoughts from someone whos only seen eight episodes of this show.
Also, the dialogue is really quick and witty…I never get bored with the back and forth.

Showcasing another genfic as @genuary-fic-event continues!
In this Coburn family fic, Janet suffers a concussion and Caitlyn stays with her to look after her while she recovers. However, things get tense when Caitlyn’s anxiety and concern becomes more visible than it should, and she has to re-learn how to best support her mother and understand her needs.
Can easily be read fandom blind. Good fic if you like role reversal (daughter taking care of her mother), doctor as the patient, hurt/comfort and fics about healing from an injury.
This was one of my favorite fics to write because it’s always a good challenge to put Coburn in a vulnerable position and see how she responds (slight spoiler alert: she is not a good patient).

For my first submission to @genuary-fic-event I chose my project from NaNoWriMo 2023, and my first fic of over 100,000 words. This fic spans 13 years from 1996 through 2009 (with an epilogue set in early 2010) and goes through the ups and downs Coburn faces at work and in her personal life while she goes through recovery.
While it is in the ER fandom and contains references to canon events and includes friendships with canon characters, you can read fandom blind if you’re so inclined, as there are also plenty of original characters and a lot of character development for Coburn that isn’t in the show.
TW: heavily reliant on themes of alcoholism, some references to depression

The “wacky hijinks on the way to the wedding” is probably my least favorite TV trope now. I really wish they had just let Maddie and Chim have the nice formal wedding, and for the love of God, skip all the Doug dream sequences. I get it was a key part of Maddie’s past but let it stay dead on her wedding day…
The ending of the episode was sweet though.

“Telling Buck no is like telling a dog not to hump your leg.”
If that’s not accurate…

“You’ll wish you were going to jail after a month with me.”
I think I would wish that too if Athena were my mom (as much as I love her as a character!)

Watching the 9-1-1 episode that opens at the Bachelor mansion and thinking that Buck totally watches The Bachelor. But Josh is the real scene stealer when he gets on the call…

Me in real life. Especially when I just rejected a 50something year old and he asked “is it something I said?” like we’re still 12.

Finally watched the pilot of The West Wing after many years of saying I wanted to watch the series but never getting to it until now.
I think I’m already hooked on Josh and Donna. That didn’t take long.

I need a scene with Bobby doing dad dance moves in the 118 firehouse. (Seriously, watching Parenthood feels like seeing Bobby in an AU.)
(Sorry about the video quality; it’s not my video and it’s all I could find on YouTube.)

Why am I not surprised that Christopher is talking to several girls at the same time? What a little ladies man!

Underrated 9-1-1 moments: The S6 finale. Bobby being everyone’s parent and trying to get them to stay on task and get off their phones so they can hear the weather report for the day.

A worthy idea for original fiction that I want to try writing next year, TBH.
How is "wedding vendors who keep getting booked at the same gigs" not a huge au trope??
There are like 10000 different vendors depending on the wedding so you can pick whatever job you like best, and you can have them bonding over judging the wedding or getting annoyed about how "ugh those flowers totally don't match my table linens, I hate their taste" or just hooking up in the bathroom during the first dance
Plenty of room for assorted friends to be meddling or supportive as needed, plenty of ~atmosphere~ or room for hijinks

I can’t believe the episode where Chim gets Maddie the ring ended on a cliffhanger with the ring in camera view! Come on show, do better. (I know they get married eventually but I wanted the proposal now!)
Also liked Bobby’s deadpan “thanks for telling me” response when Chim told him how he’s often left out of firehouse pranks.

Me last night when I was watching JLH’s Christmas movie (albeit I only saw a few parts) and kept going “oh hey it’s Maddie and Doug” and having a hard time seeing “Doug” as a good guy. I’m sure it will work better when I watch the whole thing (no spoilers please) but I kept getting taken out of the movie.
And yes, I am one of the 911 fans who learned embarrassingly late that they are married in real life.
