Les Indemodables Rose de Jamal

Nose: Antoine Lie

notes: rose, cedar, mint, pink pepper, lavender

Rose de Jamal opens with a very pure, crystalline rose, made more poignant with a sprig of fresh mint.

It lands rapidly in a more masculine mint- woods-and-lavender place; transparent and lightweight. Within an hour it’s all silvery, cedary synthetics.

This is an example of what you might call “generic niche.” High price ($221 for 50 mL), big-name perfumer, doesn’t actually smell bad — but it’s only rose for about ten minutes, and then it’s a well-executed version of a sleek synthetic drydown you’ve smelled a million other places. You can get an Atelier Cologne for a quarter the price that smells as good. (Try Rose Anonyme for their version of a woody rose.)
