so like a year and a half ago i made this post which had some minor world building vis a vis legion fashion but. I wanted to do more of it. so i did!

I kept the color palette largely the same, staying with blues, reds, and yellows. Standard outfits are just plain tunics with a belted sash, but lot of the outfits feature woven or beaded accessories. Head covering are common to prevent painful sunburns, and most clothing is loose and lightweight, made out of corn silk fiber or lightweight cotton to be breathable in the desert heat.

Sashes or sturdier garments are made of wool or a heavier woven cotton. Accessories are usually embroidered or beaded according to the wearer's taste or the region where the culture is from. Fancier outfits include more elaborate embroidery or jewelry. Shoes tend to be soft soled leather or sandals that may be beaded or have semiprecious gemstones like turquoise or jasper.

Cleopatra & Amanirenas versus the Romans

The Nile Valley queens Cleopatra of Egypt and Amanirenas of Kush are up against the wrath of the Roman legions! Can our heroines fight their way out of this predicament and defeat one the mightiest armies in the first century BC?

This is of course a fictional “alternate history” scenario I did for the sheer fun of it, but I really like the idea of Cleo and Amani teaming up against Rome. One wonders whether Cleopatra’s Egypt might have held up a little longer with more Kushite support…

Sculpted shields

Alrighty, so first attempt at designing a sculpted Roman shield. I'll probably try a different set of wings for the next designs. But as time-consuming as this was, I also probably won't do this for many of them.

Romans versus Raptors

A Roman legion has found its way through a naturally occurring time portal to the Cretaceous Period, and the local denizens are more than happy (and hungry) to see them!

If you're wondering why the legionary in the middle of the composition has darker skin than the others, he's supposed to be Egyptian on his mother's side, whereas the others are more or less typical Italians.

5E in the Legions

So as I’m figuring out D&D 5E, I’m deciding that lvl 2 Fighter should be a prerequisite for legionary characters and NPCs. I mean, their MO of throwing a pilum before rushing in to attack has the Action Surge ability written all over it.
