The premiere issue of Arcane "The Roleplaying Magazine" (December 1995) included this preview of FRUP - an "almost-ready" RPG by Hogshead Publishing's founder James Wallis "due in February '96." The game was set in a satirical fantasy world that somehow received copies of the AD&D rulebooks (or a legally distinct equivalent), revered them as holy texts, and built a society around them governed by "rules lawyers" with a culture of murdering monsters for their experience points. "FRUP" is their attempt to pronounce FRP, the old term for fantasy roleplaying games that preceded RPG.

The cover art shown is by Les Edwards, with interior art by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood and Ralph Horsley. I can't find any additional information about FRUP online. It seems it never was released in any form, a casualty of Hogshead's financial troubles around this time.

Colonial Marine Weapons

M41A Pulse Rifle:

The Marines of the United States Colonial Marine Corps (USCM) famously carry the M41A Pulse Rifle as their standard issue weapon. In the film, the weapon is described as a futuristic assault rifle with a magazine capacity of 99 rounds (loaded to 95 to prevent jamming, according to the Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood) of 10mm caseless armor-piercing ammunition with a pump-action 30mm grenade launcher mounted underneath the barrel. The rifle is also fitted with an LED readout that displays the number of rounds remaining in the rifle's magazine.

It is famously based off the M1A1 Thompson.

James Wallis has said that FRUP was shelved in favour of working on more Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay material, which was their biggest money-maker at the time. Wallis still has all of the material originally developed for FRUP, and hopes to publish it under a new name sometime in the future.
