It's something he didn't have - so he gives it.#WWX on the other hand has been *so* defined by his drive to indulge. And here he is the restrictor!#It takes a bit more to see what's going on here. Ivan hugging the wagyein feels so deep to me. Ivan doesn't think of himself kindly in canon, almost to a self-deprecating extent. When he's shown being close to such a terrifying creature, touching it so casually. Like he understands-- as if he's comforted by it, accepting it. To me, It's like a metaphorical and symbolic way of him embracing his own inner 'monster'.
