The Sea Siren, the newest and fanciest restaurant in the Grand Line!  Everyone was fighting you get reservations.  Somehow you and your boyfriend Law were able to get them.  The place was beautiful.  The booths were made of a rich burgundy leather.  The tables were very ornate and made of a dark oak.  The centerpiece of the restaurant was a golden chandelier that looked like coral.  It was beautiful.  The two of you were seated and your waitress was very nice.  You got the three course couples meal.  And boy was it beautiful and tasty.  It was the best meal you ever had.

The two of you were now waiting for dessert.  “Isn't the meal nice,” you asked as you fixed the napkin on your lap.

“It’s really good,” Law replied, “I thought this place was going to be really bad, but it’s shockingly not.”

“Why’d you think that?”

“Well, everyone has been hyping this place up for months.  Naturally, we’d have high expectations for it.  But, it meets all my expectations.”

“Sakura!” Her mother called. “Another letter!”

The girl gasped in delight with her friend. Gathering up their skirts, they rushed from her bedroom and hurried down the stairs as fast as they could muster.

As they reached the reception room, she breathlessly asked, “You called, Mother?”

“Another letter for you,” the woman repeated, holding out a crisp white envelope with a hint of a smile playing on her coral lips.

“Well,” mused Ino, “I should think it’s good fortune that your future brother-in-law is so welcoming.”

“I was worried at first, when Father told me I was to marry a prodigal,” she admitted, gingerly closing the letter, “but if Sasuke has no objections, surely he cannot be such a horrible person.”

“Perhaps not, but you know Sasuke has always idolized Itachi.” Ino gave her a meaningful look. “If any opinion would be colored, I suspect his would.”

“I trust his judgment.” Sakura firmly stated. “He’s one of my dearest friends. Itachi is not a scheming man.”

Ino gave a shrug and heaved a sigh. “I still worry about you. He’s five years older and not tied to the Uchiha fortune anymore. Why would he choose you to wife?”

“Perhaps he remembers me from childhood.”

“Perhaps, but you would think he would choose another girl.”

“I know him, and he must know me. Maybe he was uncomfortable choosing a stranger with qualms about treating him well.”

The blonde wrapped her arms around her friend, embracing her tightly. “I worry for your marriage. This could be his way of clawing his way back up to his former fortune. Once he finds an even more respectable woman to wife, he may leave you.”

“You distrust Sasuke.” Sakura accused.

“I distrust Itachi,” Ino corrected impatiently. “You believe too much in him.”

“We’ve known each other since infancy, of course I believe in him.”

The young lady gave her a flat look.

She looked indignant for several long moments, but finally she sagged against the wall. “I hate it when you’re right,” she muttered.

“I would be remiss if I let you get hurt.” With a soft smile, she grasped her hand. “Is he still visiting you?”

“Only twice so far,” she answered, walking with her back to her room. “I’m anxious. If he visits me again, wouldn’t that make it official? And I would hate to earn the scorn of the Lady Fujiwara.”

“It’s none of her business what Sasuke does with you, anyway,” huffed Ino. “We’re childhood friends.”

“Still…”

“Quit worrying about it. I know well as anyone else that he still holds you dearly. It’s his vagrant brother I fear.” With a sigh, she gave the younger a grimacing smile. “Itachi may have been tenderhearted in our youth but a decade changes things.”

“I… I’m not worried. If he loves me not, I will still have Sasuke.” Her shoulders were set squarely, a sense of determination overcoming her anxiety. “Is it wrong of me to be so brazen?”

“Women are expected to receive affection, and it’s a man’s duty to provide affection. You’re hardly scandalous to feel unsure of that. But you really should temper those desires before someone begins a rumor that you’re more salacious than you are.”

“I feel so conflicted,” she sighed, waving her small fan. “I’ll be okay, won’t I?”

“I’ll make sure you’re alright,” Ino reassured, resting a hand on her shoulder. “I’ll make certain to put in a good word for you among the ladies of court. Regardless of who your husband is.”

🪸Purrling Reef Has (One) Coral!🪸

It's been a while since I updated you guys on the progress of my 13.5 gallon nano reef tank, Purrling Reef. Arguably you guys probably would have preferred me using this time to work on Rise Up but this was somehow nagging me more I guess. 😅

Last Tuesday on the drive back from visiting my brother K and sister-in-law E on Vancouver Island I picked up my very first corals! Yes, plural; I bought a purple and turquoise ('green') favia (likely actually favites due to taxonomy changes,) and a rasta colour morph zoanthid.

Unfortunately, I wasn't quite aware at that point that I had set up my automatic topoff (ATO) system incorrectly. For the entire life of my aquarium I had been confused at how it kept seeming to suck water out of my aquarium, which I worried was diluting its salinity.

It was.

This of course seemed to come to a head - along with some stunning lack of preparedness on my part - when I introduced the poor corals and it shamefully took me days to get my salinity from the horrible 1.018 that it was back up to 1.025 that it was suppposed to be. This past Friday I at last figured out that I needed to competely redo my ATO's hose configuration and finally, finally I had it installed correctly. No longer did the ATO's tubing have any access to my aquarium water either; at long last it could no longer remove water from my aquarium!

I made handy use of the water-side hole in my light's mounting bracket for holding the ATO's tube in place. The gunk on its interior is algae.

ATO finally fixed - and just in time for cooler fall temperatures which meant I no longer even really needed to use the damned thing, I was at last able to fix that critical salinity, yet my favia coral still appeared to be unfortunately dying.

The favia's heartbreakingly tragic progress from a beautiful vibrant coral of my dreams to just another piece of reef rock. I plan on trying again with it next spring when I may be able to source another piece of the same morph from the Lower Mainland shop that I got it from. All isn't completely lost though; while the antiparasitic dip that I treated the corals with upon their arrival almost certainly killed the vermetid snail living on the favia frag's underside, there was something else there too, which due to its biology may be okay - a mussel!

I have no idea if the mussel still lives but if it does that'd be pretty wicked honestly!

Meanwhile, I dosed the reef with calcium and magnesium; the next day, yesterday, the zoanthid coral finally opened up two of its polyps!

I believe that I may have lost one of its three polyps to my incompetence but I still have two living - if I suspect immature - polyps! I haven't secured the zoa frag in its spot yet but as I am currently kinda scared of touching the thing I think that I will give it a week or so to get acclimated before bothering it to aquarium epoxy it in place. (Most people use super glue but I don't have any at the moment. The epoxy will work too, it's just uglier.)

And yeah, the zoanthid polyps don't look like much right now, but this is what they will look like someday!

Through this whole snafu with my water chemistry - which I am still working on improving with daily dosing of Brightwell Aquatics Alkalin8.3 to bring up my aquarium's PH a point (it's at 7.3,) I also thought that I had lost one of my reef's most charismatic creatures - Captain Spook the Halloween Hermit Crab. Having found his dismembered exoskeleton, I mournfully declared him deceased, only to discover yesterday evening...

...that he was just moulting! I can't tell you how happy I was! Also I had been dead convinced that my tank had reached the ripe ol' age of six months old by now so I was berating myself as a poor reef keeper, but looking back in my reef record Purrling Reef is actually only three months old. This made me feel a lot better about myself; it's okay that my reef is looking scruffy because it is young and my research has told me that pretty much all captive reefs go through a scruffy period!

Knowing this, my confidence has returned and I'm excited to try some more corals as well as hopefully introduce a sea urchin/living lawnmower to take care of all the turf algae which has grown rampant around the reef.❤️

@karamell-sweetz has enabled me to do this so I'll explain why the Rondo concept CD is called Murasaki.

(I'm using Wikipedia for everything because I'm just some guy that's crazy about this DJ unit, I'm not smart, also this post is super long so I'm not explaining why the songs chosen are those songs even though I want to.)

The kanji used for Murasaki in the song is '茈'. Which can mean Water Chestnut in Chinese and Gromwell in Japanese. I'll be focusing on Gromwells since Water Chestnuts doesn't have very big connections to anything Rondo. Other than the fact that it grows in the water like Crinoids, which are marine creatures (but in muddy water and marshes not the ocean), and that they remain crisp even after being cooked or canned like lotuses.

Now, onto Gromwells! It can refer to two plants that have closely related genera, Lithodora and Lithospermum.

First is Lithodora because I thought this one wouldn't take long. Lithodora is a genus of flowering plants in the family Boraginaceae, native to southwestern Europe, southern Greece, Turkey and Algeria. They are low-growing, evergreen shrubs and subshrubs.

So, another flower I need to bring up are Camellias, the flower that Tsubaki is named after. Camellias are also evergreen shrubs and for some species are low-growing like Lithodora. That's the only connection it has but they also grow nicely under the shade and I'll stop that part before I ramble about a whole other thing. Just know that in Celsius they bring up that the world is dark and cold, but the monster and the person with them -- the singer -- are trapped in that world but still thriving and living, similar to how Camellias can grow even under the shade.

Now, to return to the original point, Lithodora has a species called Lithodora Fruticosa (This is because they're fru--). Which is usually called a shrubby gromwell. It can grow on dry ground and stony hillsides usually on limestones.

Limestones are formed when minerals precipitate out of water containing dissolved calcium. It can take place through both biological and non-biological means, with the biological process being an accumulations of corals and shells in the sea. I bring this up because Crinoids were much more abundant and diverse in the past and apparently some thick limestone beds down underwater during the Paleozoic to Jurassic era are almost entirely made up of disarticulated Crinoid fragments. This is the only connection I found that doesn't sound like I'm grasping straws.

Now, onto the other plant, Lithospermum. I'll talk about two things, so I'll start with Lithospermum purpurocaeruleum, or the purple gromwell. I will be calling this the purple gromwell to avoid confusion between the two.

The purpurocaeruleum part of the name means 'purple and blue', referring to how the buds of purple gromwells look purple-reddish hue and when it fully blooms it becomes a dark blue. The flowering period of these gromwells are April to June, which is spring. Rondo has two songs connecting to spring, which is ARCANA and Celsius, making it connect back to Celsius yet again and making it have another connection to ARCANA. The first connection being the fact that one of the lyrics is 'murasaki no hana', which translates to purple flower.

Now, that's it for the purple one, onto Lithospermum Erythrorhzion or what I'll be calling it in this post, the red gromwell.

It can also be called a purple gromwell (duh), red stoneroot, red-root gromwell and redroot lithospermum.

Red gromwells in China (they're called zǐcǎo if you were curious) are used for herbal medicine with various antiviral and biological activities. In Japan they've been used ever since the Nara period for its herbal medicine and dye properties thank to its root. Like every other way of making purple dye, it's super long and complex which caused them to make a sumptuary law in the Heian period that only people of high-ranking or the Empress and her ladies in waiting can wear clothing with the dye.

The reason why I'm bringing up every time they say red is because the Hiiro part of Hiiro's name literally means 'red color', also because Rondo in their second anniversary outfits are based on high-ranking or important chess pieces.

Aoi and Tsubaki have a clear connection since they're the king and queen pieces respectively, Hiiro is the bishop which makes her important since bishops act as the right-hand man to the king and queen, and Nagisa is the knight, the chess piece might not seem important, but the knight is the only chess piece that can go over other pieces, making it important or 'high-ranking' in the game.

That's the only connections I knew and found so far connecting murasaki to some stuff important to Rondo, if I found any more connections after it drops (looks at prayer remix) then I might make a post about the songs in the album and why they were chosen.

Anya Cook had reason to celebrate. After 17 miscarriages, she was pregnant again, in her second trimester, and she and her husband, Derick, were ready to share the good news with family and friends.

After the joyous announcement in December 2022, Anya and Derick attended the Coral Springs holiday parade in their Florida neighborhood, then went to dinner at a local restaurant. It was a good end to a good day, until…

Cook was in the restaurant parking lot when she says she thought she got soaked by someone throwing water at her.

“I literally reached down and put my hand between my legs, and I saw that it was drenched with clear fluid. Never in my wildest dreams did I even think that that was my amniotic fluid that was leaking out of me. I still was convinced that someone threw something on me, up until Derick turned me around and said ‘Babe, there is no one here,’” Cook told ABC News in an interview.

“I messaged one of my friends who is a labor and delivery nurse all the way across the country, and she’s like ‘you need to get to labor and delivery right now.’ And I literally looked at Derick and said, ‘Something is wrong. This shouldn’t be happening,’” Cook said.

The couple immediately drove to a hospital, where Cook says her amniotic fluid was dripping onto the floor as she waited to be seen by a doctor.

However, Cook’s medical care now hinged on Florida’s 15-week abortion ban, which went into effect in July 2022 after Roe v. Wade was overturned. Cook was already more than 15 weeks pregnant.

Had she lived in a state without restrictions on abortion care, she would have been admitted.

But Cook said she was discharged from the emergency room because she was not yet sick enough to qualify for the emergency medical exception in Florida’s law, despite her risk for infection and hemorrhage.

Cook, who would later find herself on the brink of death, is not alone in her harrowing experience as similar stories emerge from women around the country. -(source: abc news)
