Does that make OM Mephistopheles the JJJ then
i hadn't even considered that but yes!! you know how jjj is really totally fine with superhumans and all that, it's just spiderman specifically he doesn't like? i can't imagine mephistopheles specifically hating spiderkid given his soft spot for children, BUT i imagine he's a fierce advocate against it just because he thinks it's ridiculous that the city has gotten to the point that they need to rely on a teenager to keep everyone safe
it's probably a thing where the main hero group are the legally mandated ones (luke is simeon's apprentice/intern or something) and ik is a vigilante who is constantly breaking the law that diavolo keeps looking the other way for, and while mephistopheles admires him greatly, he thinks it's dumb as SHIT that he's totally fine with letting that kid risk her life on the regular
#mephistopheles runs a serious paper that often breaks the latest hero-villain news and even though it's supposed to be unbiased#it's always VERY clear that he vehemently disagrees with spiderkid as a concept#(he has to work with the newspaper club on occasion even though he thinks a lot of their satire is ridiculous)#(mostly bc they usually have the latest update on villain movement)#answering asks#anon asks#the amazing spiderkid

Signal officer charged with domestic assault
The new year had only just begun when a Signal Mountain police officer was arrested in downtown Chattanooga on a domestic assault charge.
Jared Cantrell, 26, was outside The Chattanoogan hotel, near the fire pit in the back, when he allegedly became upset at his girlfriend sometime around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Cantrell is the second officer in the Chattanooga area to be held in the Hamilton County Jail on a domestic assault charge in 2015, as David Catchings with the Chattanooga Police Department was arrested late New Year’s Eve.
Witnesses at The Chattanoogan told police they watched as Cantrell offered his jacket to his girlfriend, because she said she was cold, but once she put it on he began to yell at her because his wallet was in the jacket’s pocket.
The yelling escalated, several witnesses said. They said they saw Cantrell try to punch his girlfriend with
his left fist and miss, striking her with his forearm.
Another push by Cantrell knocked the woman to the ground, and he then proceeded to jump on top of her, witnesses told police.
Once Cantrell was on top of his girlfriend the fight was broken up, according to the affidavit.
After the incident, Cantrell’s girlfriend, who had scratches on her right ankle and elbow, told police she did not remember anything that happened — except for when Cantrell was on top of her as she lay on the ground.
Cantrell also told police he did not remember much of what happened that night.
Off icers arre s ted Cantrell at The Chattanoogan and took him to the Hamilton County Jail, where he made bond.
Signal Mountain Police Chief Mike Williams said officials were “very surprised by his arrest,” and added that it is “the first time” Cantrell has been arrested “as [ far] as we know.”
Williams said Cantrell, who has with the department for almost a year, now is on paid administrative leave, which is protocol in a situation like this, and that a department internal investigation is underway.
Cantrell is set to appear in court on Jan. 23, and Williams said the outcome of that hearing will be considered when he makes his recommendation to the Signal Mountain city manager about Cantrell’s future with the department.

Promoting Tourism: N Chandrababu Naidu's Initiatives for Tourism Development in Andhra Pradesh
Tourism plays a vital role in economic growth, employment generation, and cultural exchange. Recognizing its potential, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, implemented several TDP Projects to develop and promote tourism in the state. Under his leadership, Andhra Pradesh witnessed significant progress in infrastructure development, heritage conservation, and marketing strategies, attracting domestic and international tourists.
N Chandrababu Naidu's government focused on improving the state's infrastructure to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for tourists. The development of world-class airports, such as the Visakhapatnam International Airport, increased connectivity and facilitated easier access to popular tourist destinations. Additionally, the construction of well-maintained roads and highways improved transportation links, making it convenient for travelers to explore the state.
Preserving the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh was a priority for N Chandrababu Naidu. Under his rule TOP TDP MLAs initiated the restoration and renovation of historical monuments and religious sites, enhancing their appeal to visitors. The iconic Amaravati, renowned for its Buddhist heritage, received particular attention, with efforts to develop it as a prominent tourist attraction. The preservation of ancient temples, such as the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, was also undertaken to promote spiritual tourism.
N Chandrababu Naidu's government implemented innovative marketing strategies to showcase Andhra Pradesh as a must-visit tourist destination. The "Andhra Pradesh Tourism" campaign aimed to create awareness about the state's diverse attractions, including its scenic beauty, cultural festivals, and culinary delights. The campaign utilized social media platforms, travel shows, and print media to reach a wider audience. Collaborations with travel agencies and tour operators helped in designing attractive tour packages and organizing promotional events. For more achievements and contributions of TDP look through the official TDP website.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable tourism, N Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the development of eco-tourism in Andhra Pradesh. The picturesque Araku Valley and the serene Kolleru Lake were among the key locations identified for eco-friendly tourism initiatives. These efforts not only conserved the natural beauty of these regions but also provided employment opportunities for the local communities. Nature camps, trekking trails, and bird-watching activities were introduced to promote eco-tourism and raise environmental awareness.
To boost tourism infrastructure and attract private investment, N Chandrababu Naidu's government actively encouraged public-private partnerships (PPPs). This approach helped develop world-class resorts, hotels, and entertainment zones, offering tourists a range of accommodation and recreational options. The government also provided incentives and tax benefits to attract investment in the tourism sector, stimulating economic growth and generating employment opportunities. Now we can get the local and city news from the TDP official website.
N Chandrababu Naidu's initiatives for tourism development in Andhra Pradesh yielded positive results. The state witnessed a significant increase in tourist footfall, contributing to the overall economic growth. The initiatives not only improve infrastructure and heritage conservation but also enhance local communities' livelihoods. The sustained efforts to promote Andhra Pradesh as a tourist destination brought it into the limelight, attracting both domestic and international tourists. His vision and commitment to tourism development have laid a strong foundation for the industry's growth and prosperity in Andhra Pradesh.

‘Misunderstanding’ Caused BC Company to Say Health Canada Licensed It to Sell Cocaine, Trudeau Says
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it was a “misunderstanding” that caused a British Columbia-based company to say Health Canada granted it permission to produce, sell, and distribute cocaine.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks to the media in Ottawa on Feb. 12, 2023. (Patrick Doyle/The Canadian Press)
Trudeau told reporters in Winnipeg on March 3 that he was “as surprised” as B.C. Premier David Eby when he heard that the company Adastra Holdings Ltd., which produces marijuana for adult use and medical sales out of its headquarters in Langley, B.C., announced on Feb. 22 that it was permitted by Health Canada to “legally possess, produce, sell and distribute” cocaine.
The company said in a news release that it had been granted a Health Canada amendment to its controlled substance dealer’s licence on Feb. 17.
Eby first responded to the company’s statement on March 2, saying he was “astonished” that Health Canada would grant the amendment and that his government would be contacting Health Canada for answers.
“I was as surprised as the premier of British Columbia was to see that company was talking about selling cocaine on the open market or commercializing it,” Trudeau said on March 3.
“There are limited and very restricted permissions for certain pharmaceutical companies to use that substance for research purposes and for very specific narrowly prescribed medical purposes, but it is not a permission to sell it commercially or provide it on an open market.”
The prime minister said his government is actively addressing the issue.
“We are working very quickly with this company to correct their misunderstanding that their press release has caused,” he said, adding that decriminalizing the commercial sale of cocaine “is not something that this government is looking at furthering.”
Decriminalization B.C. decriminalized possession of up to 2.5 grams of certain hard drugs, including cocaine, beginning on Jan. 31 following Health Canada’s approval of three-year experimental decriminalization exemption program back in May 2022.
Federal Mental Health and Addictions Minister Carolyn Bennett has said that B.C.’s decriminalization plan will reduce “the stigma, the fear, and shame that keep people who use drugs silent about their use, or using alone.”
In 2022, B.C. had an average of over six people dying from drug overdoses every day, and over 11,000 people in the province have died from illicit drug overdoses since the provincial government declared a public health emergency in 2016.
Federal Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized the decriminalization policy, saying the solution to the issue of addiction is “more treatment and recovery,” rather than “more poison.”
Both Trudeau and Justice Minister David Lametti have said Ottawa has no plans for a national drug decriminalization policy.
The Canadian Press and Marnie Cathcart contributed to this report.
