Status Update: Day Nine
Today was yet another fun day together with Bee. Early(-ish) in the day, I went to get myself some food for the last days of my stay to have something proper for breakfast and, if necessary, dinner. Not too long after that, we headed out for the lunar new year event. Yes, a second one. But it was not as much centred around shows and performances, but rather small shops and goodies to buy revolving around the festivity. In front of the arena was a street performance which we watched. It was very humorous and impressive at the same time. Inside the actual building were many shops. I was at first tempted to get myself something, but nothing really caught my eye enough to really want it *that* much. I suppose becoming an adult really did something to my impulse control, in a good way. We also checked out the food stalls of course. Bee got us tteokbokki and a Korean hotdog, then later on cookies-and-cream ice cream for me and gelato for himself.
With our main event done, we spontaneously decided to go down to a small beach area. It was a nice place to stay and relax at, and to let my feet dangle in the water for a bit. I didn’t know it at that time, but that was where my last Polaroid picture was taken.
Nearby was a small boat restaurant which Bee wanted to eat at with me, so we ordered some fries, small hotdogs, chicken nuggets and drinks (peach ice tea for me and apple cider for Bee).
We returned to our rooms for a brief break before going out to a restaurant which Bee also wanted me to try, Sweet Mother’s Kitchen. They had ordered curly fries, chicken tenders and a coke, while I had a sirloin steak, also with curly fries and two drinks, L&P and a Malonso cocktail.
Compared to our first few days, it was rather ‘uneventful’, but still just as fun to me.
Long story short, it was a very good filled day.
Sponsorships of the day: every single meal mentioned
Food Ranking:
Tteokbokki: 2/5, it has potential to be something I like. Just as of now, I don’t have a very high tolerance for Korean levels of spiciness, and it was overall a bit too chewy for my liking.
Korean hotdog: 3/5, in itself very tasty, but I would’ve preferred a different sausage
Cookies-and-Cream ice cream: 5/5, absolute banger, no notes
Peach iced tea: 4/5, delicious and refreshing, but it could’ve used a bit more flavour to it to be perfect
Mini hotdogs, chicken nuggets, fries: 3/5, average experience, nothing much to write home about. But the sauces were pretty good
Malonso cocktail: 4/5, very interesting taste, alcohol was barely noticeable if at all. But the ice cubes did water the entire drink down very quickly.
Steak, curly fries: 4/5, very tasty and well done (except the steak was medium, haha). But the steak was a bit chewier than expected and harder to cut (perhaps because of the knife I got), and the salad was not my thing (though honestly, when has it ever been my thing?) and the dressing did soak into some of my fries, giving it a bit of a weird taste.
***
Note: I will not be adding any pictures to this post as the internet is really giving me a hard time lately. I’ll reblog this to add the pictures once I’m back home in a couple of days, or during layover at an airport

Hong Kong stocks were only open for half a day on the closing day of the Year of the Rabbit. Investors were selling before the long holiday. After opening 168 points lower, the Hang Seng Index fell as much as 347 points to a low of 15,531 points. After that, there were buyers to take advantage of the low and closed at 15,746 points, down 131 points or 0.83%. The technology index closed at 3,127 points, down 41 points or 1.3%. The main board's total trading volume for the whole day was only HK$31.2 billion.
Investors in Hong Kong stocks were "trapped" in the Year of the Rabbit. The Hang Seng Index fell 6,298 points, or 28.5%, for the whole year, which was the worst performance in the Year of the Rabbit in history. The technology Index fell 1,441 points, or 31.5%.
The trend of Hong Kong stocks after he Lunar New Year holiday. Looking back on the performance of the past few years, Hong Kong stocks tend to reach short-term highs after the holidays and before the A-share market resumes after the holiday. In addition, the US stock market adjusted sharply yesterday. Therefore, it is not appropriate to be too optimistic when the red market opens higher. In terms of trend, the Hang Seng Index is still in a downward channel. In the short term, it will have to rise above the 50-DMA (16,205) before it is expected to turn around. However, if it falls below the 20-DMA (15,708) for several consecutive days, the market situation may weaken, and then the trend will turn around. The market is expected to test the 15,000 level again, and even retest the bear market low of 14,597 points in October last year.
The Japanese stock market reached a higher level after the resumption of trading on Tuesday. The Nikkei Stock Average once reached a high of 38,010 points and closed at 37,963 points, up 1,066 points or 2.89%. It was the strongest day since November 2022 and hit a new high in more than 34 years. It is less than 3% away from the historical closing high of 38,915 points and the historical intraday high of 38,957 points set on December 29, 1989, the eve of the Japanese bubble explosion.
European stock markets fell across the board, with British and French stocks both closing down about 0.8%, and German stocks falling 0.92%.
The latest inflation in the United States was higher than expected. After the data was released, the swap market almost no longer expected the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates in March, while the chance of a rate cut in May dropped from about 64% to about 32%. The news drove up bond interest rates. U.S. stocks were under pressure on Tuesday. After the Dow opened 98 points lower, the decline expanded to as much as 757 points in the late period, reaching a low of 38,039 points.
At the close of the U.S. stock market, the Dow still fell 524 points, or 1.35%, to 38,272 points; the S&P Index fell 68 points, or 1.37%, to 4,953 points; the Nasdaq fell 286 points, or 1.8%, to 15,655 points.
The foreign exchange index once rose 0.76% to 104.96; the yen fell below 150 per dollar, as low as 150.89, and fell as much as 1.03%.

The Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year holidays are joyful events typically spent with family and friends. Astronauts and cosmonauts who find themselves in space during the holidays have found their own unique way to celebrate the occasions. In the early years of the space program, holidays spent in space occurred infrequently, most notably the flight of Apollo 8 around the Moon during Christmas 1968, making them more memorable. As missions became longer and more frequent, holidays in space became more common occasions. For the past 23 years, holidays spent aboard the International Space Station have become annual, if not entirely routine, events. Left: The famous Earthrise photograph, taken by the Apollo 8 crew in lunar orbit. Right: Video of the Apollo 8 crew of Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, and William A. Anders reading from The Book of Genesis. As the first crew to spend Christmas in space, Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, and William A. Anders, celebrated the holiday while circling the Moon in December 1968, the first humans to leave Earth orbit. They immortalized the event on Christmas Eve by taking turns reading the opening verses from the Bible’s Book of Genesis as they broadcast scenes of the Moon gliding by below. An estimated one billion people in 64 countries tuned in to their Christmas Eve broadcast. As they left lunar orbit, Lovell radioed back to Earth, where Christmas Eve had already turned to Christmas Day, “Please be informed there is a Santa Claus!” Left: Skylab 4 astronauts Gerald P. Carr, left, Edward G. Gibson, and William R. Pogue trim their homemade Christmas tree in December 1973. Right: Carr, Gibson, and Pogue hung their stockings aboard Skylab. During their 84-day record-setting mission aboard the Skylab space station in 1973 and 1974, Skylab 4 astronauts Gerald P. Carr, William R. Pogue, and Edward G. Gibson celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s in space – the first crew to spend Thanksgiving and New Year’s in orbit. They built a homemade Christmas tree from leftover food containers, used colored decals as decorations, and topped it with a cardboard cutout in the shape of a comet. Carr and Pogue spent seven hours on a Christmas Day spacewalk to change out film canisters and observe the passing Comet Kohoutek. Once back inside the station, they enjoyed a Christmas dinner complete with fruitcake, talked to their families, and opened presents. They even had orbital visitors of sorts, as Soviet cosmonauts Pyotr I. Klimuk and Valentin V. Lebedev orbited the planet aboard Soyuz 13 between Dec. 18 and 26, marking the first time that astronauts and cosmonauts were in space at the same time. Different orbits precluded any direct contact between the two crews. Aboard Salyut-6, Georgi M. Grechko, left, and Yuri V. Romanenko, toast to celebrate the new year in space, the first Russian cosmonauts to do so. Image credits: Courtesy of Roscosmos. In the more secular Soviet era, the New Year’s holiday had more significance than the Jan. 7 observance of Orthodox Christmas. The first cosmonauts to ring in a new year in orbit were Yuri V. Romanenko and Georgi M. Grechko, during their record-setting 96-day mission in 1977 and 1978, aboard the Salyut-6 space station. They toasted the new year during a TV broadcast with the ground. The exact nature of the beverage consumed for the occasion has not been passed down to posterity. Left: STS-61 mission specialist Jeffrey A. Hoffman with a dreidel during Hanukkah in December 1993. Right: Video of Hoffman describing how he celebrated Hanukkah aboard space shuttle Endeavour. The eight-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates the recapture of Jerusalem and rededication of the Second Temple in 164 B.C.E. It occurs in the month of Kislev in the Hebrew lunar calendar, which can fall between late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. NASA astronaut Jeffrey A. Hoffman celebrated the first Hanukkah in space during the STS-61 Hubble Space Telescope first servicing mission in 1993. Hanukkah that year began on the evening of Dec. 9, after Hoffman completed his third spacewalk of the mission. He celebrated with a traveling menorah, unlit of course, and by spinning a dreidel. The crew of another Hubble Space Telescope repair mission, STS-103, celebrated the first space shuttle Christmas in 1999 aboard Discovery. For Christmas dinner, Curtis L. Brown, Scott J. Kelly, Steven L. Smith, Jean-François A. Clervoy of the European Space Agency (ESA), John M. Grunsfeld, C. Michael Foale, and Claude Nicollier of ESA enjoyed duck foie gras on Mexican tortillas, cassoulet, and salted pork with lentils. Expedition 70 flight engineer NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli’s husband and two little girls made a felt menorah for her to celebrate Hanukkah during her mission. The Shenzhou 13 crew of Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu arrived aboard the China Space Station Tiangong on Oct. 15, 2021, for a six-month mission. On New Year’s Day 2022, they hosted a live video call and interacted with college students at venues in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao. For the Feb. 1 start of the Chinese New Year of the Tiger, they decorated the space station and sent best wishes to people on the ground for a happy and prosperous new year. In January 2023, Shenzhou 15 astronauts Fei Junlong, left, Deng Qingming, and Zhang Lu send New Year’s greetings to Earth from the Tiangong China Space Station. We hope you enjoyed these stories, photographs, and videos from holiday celebrations in space. This year, a record-tying 10 people from five nations will celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year while serving aboard two space stations – the International Space Station and the Tiangong China Space Station. We wish them all and everyone here on Earth the very best during the holiday season and hope that 2024 will indeed be a Happy New Year!

Obscenely(?) late Lunar New Year pic (pretty much because I only learned what day it was the day of... oops >_>; ). Either way, couldn't resist the chance to draw the boys as bunnies again. :3c
...Also kinda explains part Zero's exasperation with me.
Anyway, tried that watermark technique I reblogged earlier. Not quite sure about it yet (especially since I think it's meant more for logo-type watermarks), but I hope it's not too obtrusive.
Trivia Time: I went a little extra on this as while everyone was posting about it being the year of the rabbit, nobody really posted anything having to do with the color. The animals associated with the Eastern Zodiac actually have colors (and elements) assigned to them for the different years. This year's is a black (water) rabbit, hence why they're all black.
Yes, I'm a f##king nerd. Get over it. :P

From late March 2022 up to the next full moon (Easter day) there are a number of astrological events occurring to which we seek to draw your attention. The New Moon in Pisces is Lunar New Year; when the Sun enters Aries, it will be Solar New Year. In that time (and after) several planets change signs including the outer planet Neptune, who will be in step with Jupiter for their ingress to Pisces. Comment: Is this really LYN? LYN: It really is me. Were you looking for me for something? It’s the new year, were you looking for me? Please don’t.
Comment: Who are you? LYN: There are people in the comments asking who I am- I’m here to collect your electricity bill. Open the door. LYN: It’s been so long you don’t know me anymore? Wow.
Comment: Lao-da, when are you ending the stream? When you end, that’s when I’ll do my homework. LYN: Don’t be like that. That’s not right. Turn off my stream immediately and do your homework. Learning is important. My stream is... not important.
LYN: Happy New Year. I said I would stream at the start of the (lunar) new year... what day is it today? In any case- it’s still before the 15th so we’re still celebrating. To everyone who is watching my stream, everyone who likes me, and to my weibo friends, I wish you a healthy and prosperous new year!
Comment: How come you’re here in the daytime? LYN: Am I a shadow? I can only be touched/seen at night?
- /Daimi keeps barking/ LYN: Are you done yet?? Comment: You yelled at Daimi??! LYN: She’s my dog, what, I can’t scold her a little? Every day I have to treat her with respect? Send her my greetings every morning??
LYN: I don’t know what everyone has been doing lately but I hope you can rest well when you can and be refreshed for a new year of work!
Comment: Does the avocado work? LYN: I only ate it the once. The last time I streamed I said that I heard avocados were good for you skin so I would try it out for a week and see if it works or not. I ate one that day and after that I didn’t want to pick up the second one. They’re so nasty! What the heck?!? Are they even edible?? Comment: Ning-ge, yours probably weren’t ripe yet. LYN: What do you know?? As I chef, how could I not know when it’s ripe? That one was... already very well ripened. Ripe or not, it’s the same taste. I’ve had it before. It just tastes bad. Comment: Add yogurt. LYN: Don’t tell me. I won’t be able to get it down no matter what I add to it. I just can’t do it. - /also heard that avocados are fattening so... he’s trying to lose weight now. trying to lose some weight by drinking a highly diuretic plum juice. :p bc he’s got three shows to guest on in the future and wants to look his best./ LYN: Don’t ask. You’ll find out when the show airs. What if I tell you and then I get pushed off it again? All I have is industry secrets now. Before, I would tell you that I was expecting to go on some program- I didn’t even say the name of it! but other people would look into it, for their own artist, and I would end up out. They basically used me for information to get a spot on the show. Comment: Expose them. LYN: When I’m sixty. I’ll create a gossip blog. Comment: Why don’t you create a gossip blog now? LYN: Don’t think I haven’t thought about it. You know I like too try out as many things as possible. As an industry-insider, I definitely have a lot more accurate information than the nonsense those media accounts report. But I thought about it and it really would not be right of me. Forget it. There isn’t the need. I’ll be blacklisted. LYN: I see those reports about which artist got together/is dating who and has all the details and everything. Every time I see those articles I want to laugh. Because we (on the inside) know the truth. So I really want to laugh and leave a comment like, “You don’t know sh*t.”
Comment: What time are you streaming until today? LYN: Have you got something you need to do? I don’t know either because I still have class later... it’s a little early today. We started around 6p so maybe 9p or 10p? Comment: You have to go to class? LYN: Yeah, I have to go to class. I have to learn. If people don’t learn they’ll never fly. Comment: What class? LYN: Yoga. I’ve been learning yoga lately. Those types of classes... LYN: Acting classes!
Comment: Ning-ge, you disappeared for a long time. LYN: I was working! I was recording OSTs! I still have two I haven’t done yet. Comment: I thought you went missing. LYN: Where would I go? It’s the new year, you should be happy that I am resting when I can, that I have time to be quiet and collect my thoughts. I appear when I should appear. LYN: /joking/ I went to get double eyelid surgery and needed some time to recuperate. Comment: You didn’t get your double chin fixed? LYN: !! ?? You saw that I’ve gotten a little fatter on my recent stages, is that it? You came to slap some sense into me, and make sure I pay a little more attention (to my weight), is that it??
LYN: The face-slimming filter isn’t on. My face is as big as it was in the previous stream. Maybe it’s because my forehead is out that my face looks longer and not as round.
Comment: You’re streaming and now I’m not in the mood to do my homework. LYN: That makes me extremely guilty. You leave first and do your homework- there’s a playback function for my stream- when you’re done learning you can come back and watch. Go learn. LYN: As if when you’re not watching my stream you really love to do homework??? Don’t blame it on me. If you don’t like to do your homework that’s not on me. I can’t withstand this crime. Comment: Should I take my online class or watch you? LYN: Stop punishing me! Don’t use me as your excuse to delay your important matters. Hurry and leave. Take your class, do your homework. You’re going to force me to stop streaming. Don’t be like this, please. I’m begging you.
Comment: Ning-ge, do you have a Bing Dwen Dwen? LYN: I don’t. It’s good enough that you have one. LYN: Why do I say I don’t have one? BC if I say I do, you’re going to want me to raffle it. First, I don’t want to give it away and secondly, I REALLY don’t have one. I don’t really... need one, either. So I won’t fight with you to get one.
Comment: The music’s too loud. LYN: This is the exact mood I want. The people who think the music is too loud probably have never been to a bar before. My loud music and neon lights are for you to- /daimi barking/- to feel like you’re in a bar. It sets the mood. I don’t want you to be jumping up and down or anything but the music needs to fill your mind. To anyone watching my stream, try to do so with headphones. Just watching on your phone doesn’t give the same effect. Comment: Upstanding people don’t go to bars. LYN: That’s not true. Bars have a lot of functions, but I won’t get into it with you. It all depends on what you’re going to a bar for. If you’re an upstanding person, you’ll be one no matter where you go. Don’t blame the environment. I’ve worked in a bar (singing) for many years- I can’t say I’m familiar with bars but I am more understanding of them. It all depends on what you go for. Comment: I go to bars to do my homework. LYN: See? In order to save electricity at home they took their books and went to a bar to do their homework. Isn’t this very upstanding? There are good people like this, too. Very impressive. LYN: But honestly, don’t go to bars to do your homework. The lighting is either very brilliant or very dim- it’ll hurt your eyesight. There are better places you can do your homework at. Comment: Go to a bar to do yoga. LYN: Uh, alright! As long as you want to, anywhere is your stage. Now that you’ve brought it up, I think a bar is a great place to learn. It almost makes me want to take my script there to learn my lines. Comment: I go to bars to get you publicity. LYN: What type of publicity? I don’t need it. I haven’t been to a bar in a long time but I’ve seen that some bars have a big screen, and if you scan a code you can put your own message on there. People have been promoting me. Next time, if you want to drink, just enjoy yourself and drink. Please don’t publicize for me. But a lot of people might be in a bar or ktv watching my stream right now. If that’s the case then you can send a message: “LYN is streaming right now on weibo.” If there are 50 people in the bar, at least 5 will come to watch my stream. This is how you gain fans. Little by little. Each one is a treasure.
LYN: The new year’s special of our song came out, did you see it? There was a part where Chui Na Li Sha and Xue Zhiqian were doing their talk show and they joked about me. A lot of people were commenting on my turn-of-face. Did you see it? They said I suddenly became very mean looking.
LYN: Do you think that sort of thing would make me angry? Am I sick?! There are people in my stream who call me “son” you think I’ll get angry at a joke? There’s no way. But the thing is, ever since I started learning how to act, once it hits a certain point, you need to learn how to give a reaction. You can’t just sit there soullessly, as if you’re not into the act. It’s a natural reaction- isn’t that what these programs want?
Comment: I’m leaving, da-ge. LYN: Don’t go. Where are you going, is it for something important? If it’s not important, stay a while. Where are you going? It’s not interesting out there. It’s so cold outside, too. Don’t fall sick.
Comment: You don’t get angry when people call you “son”? LYN: When I said that earlier I saw a whole group of people calling me “son” in the chat. I’m really not angry. But our style- our streaming style is important. The way I stream and how you respond is important, because it all leaves a trail behind as comments. If someone comes to check out my weibo and sees all my fans calling me their son. My age in this industry is pretty high but my status is low. Please don’t wreck my general atmosphere.
- /calls himself the “Weibo Stream King”... bc weibo actually made him an award for streaming so much!/ Comment: Can you raffle your award? LYN: Are you kidding me?! [..] How about I auction it off to the highest bidder? That will make this a bit more meaningful and I can also gain some revenue hehehe. I can’t give it to you but I can sell it. XD LYN: I’m kidding. How could I sell it?? I need to keep this for posterity. When I’m sixty I can take it out and reminisce about when I was younger and won an award for... exposure.
Comment: Ning-ge, I want to ask. How does a durian dumpling paired with hot sauce taste? [t/n: referencing the Our Song S3 New Year’s Special] LYN: It wasn’t anything special- just leaves you disgusted. Makes you want to puke. [..] I don’t particularly like salty things that are sweet. For example, rice porridge- usually it’s salty but some people like to add sugar. When I taste a sweet rice porridge it’s a little... uncomfortable. But some people like it- that’s normal. But if it’s a sweet porridge to begin with- like Eight Treasure Porridge- and I know it’s sweet then that’s ok. It’s like eating a Century Egg Congee with Pork, but it’s sweet. [t/n: the disconnect between something you KNOW is supposed to be salty and tasting sweet instead. :p] Comment: Then, why do you add sugar when you eat noodles? LYN: Ah. See, someone has leverage. I was talking about hong shao (red braised) beef noodle soup. Red braised is soy sauce and sugar. You need the right amount to make the flavor come out. But of course you don’t add sugar to ANY noodles. For example if I was eating Lanzhou noodles- I wouldn’t add sugar to that. Clear soup, or beef noodle soup I wouldn’t add sugar to. But anything that is “hong shao” you can try to add a little sugar to, and it will taste even better. You can trust me. A bit more sugar and just a little bit of vinegar. Comment: What if I listen to you and it doesn’t taste good? LYN: Uh, you can... seek me out for reimbursement. Is that what you wanted me to say?
- Daimi’s here! LYN: This artist doesn’t have a sense for camera angles! Look here, at the camera!
LYN: Bark! You were barking earlier, why aren’t you barking anymore?
Comment: Has Daimi gotten fatter? LYN: She has :(. She eats well. Her family situation is not bad :). She doesn’t eat kibble, only cans.
Comment: Ning-ge, stream faster, there’s a competition to watch later. LYN: You can go watch it. Don’t watch me, I’m not important- there’s always the playback. You want me to stream FASTER? I- Are you making fun of me?
Comment: Liu Yuning-ah, why have you been streaming less lately? LYN: This is like... say you’re working in a company. The first month you get 3000RMB. The second month the boss thought you worked hard and gave you a 500RMB bonus for a total of 3500RMB. The third month you only get 3000RMB. And then.. you’re unhappy. LYN: As long as there’s nothing for me to do I will stream. I had things to do. I saw some comments online saying that I’m dating someone, and I'm spending the new year with a girl. I guess I can do anything. It’s like if I’m not streaming then it seems like I’m not doing “human” things. LYN: I have some fans who.. love me very much. They think of me like their pet. But I’ll tell you again- as long as I have the time and am in the mood to stream, I will. Lately I have been tired and there have been a lot of discussions that are occupying my brain space- I have to make sure I have enough work for the new year. I like to be prepared ahead of time. Since 2022 has come I need to work with my team to arrange all my work for the year- all the dramas, all the variety shows. You might be resting now (for the holiday break) but I have to work. I can’t let myself become lax and I’m also a little in a hurry. When I have time and am in the mood I will stream. Please don’t make demands of me. I like to stream and chat and relax. But if there’s something I need to do or if I want to take a break then I will do so. LYN: I may be happy and carefree in my streams but I’m not a fool. I don’t want to bring my burdens here and bring you down- if I did have something to share I would make sure to deliver the news positively. I’m not a fool who only chats with his fans and streams and does nothing else. There’s pressure when you’re not clear of what you have to do this year, you know?
Comment: Cut your hair a little shorter. LYN: I want to cut my hair, I really do. But I need it for this drama. I made a mistake. When we were fixing hair and makeup the laoshi suggested I use my own hair, since it’s so long already. It’s half of a wig- a little like for Shades- but for him we added extensions on the back. For this role, we’re adding a little to the top and using my hair at length in the back. The hair/makeup laoshi told me not to cut it. [..] When I get back to Beijing I’ll have it fixed but I can’t cut it until the drama is over. I used to really want to have long(er) hair, but now that I DO have it, it’s a little troublesome.
LYN: Just call me Lao Liu. (and not “lao gong” (husband)) Nothing else. Thank you. Comment: “Lao Liu” sounds lame. LYN: “Lao Liu” makes it sound like I’m a... a driver.
Comment: Don’t cut your hair during the new year! LYN: Oh, right. Because there’s some sort of superstition. I’ll do my best to hang in there until the new year is over (the 15th). LYN: It seems like there are a lot of such superstitions, like not cutting your hair. There’s also not throwing out the trash- so you can preserve the “wealth” of the household, and not cleaning the house. Comment: I’ve never heard the last one. LYN: Well, I just told you. Comment: There’s also not sewing your clothes! LYN: Oh, I really haven’t heard of that one. Maybe the superstitions are different according to regional differences, too. Comment: My mom told me not to cry. LYN: Yeah! It’s the New Year, what are you crying for?? You have to be happy during the new year so the rest of the year can go well. Comment: I can’t help it, I’m too moved. LYN: Uh.. so you’re saying that I haven’t streamed in so long that my coming here (to celebrate New Years) with you has moved you to tears? :) This type of crying is okay. Happy tears. Comment: Ning-ge, after I saw you my “tears” came from the corners of my mouth. [t/n: aka drool] LYN: Uhm. Are you not cooking any food at home? How can you be hungry to this extent?
LYN: Something happy that happened when I was back home is that I could set off fireworks with all the little kids. My grandpa had a friend who would sent us a bunch of fireworks for the new year and I would take them to set off with the neighborhood’s kids. I was so happy. Every time the new year rolled around I would be “king” because the kids had to follow me around if they wanted to play with fireworks. Comment: “Blow up” manholes. LYN: PLEASE do not do such foolish things. You haven’t seen those videos where the kid puts a firework in the manhole and it (explodes and) blows them away? If you have kids at home please keep them away from the manholes. This is because the sewers are down there and... things that GO in sewers are down there and they create natural gases- they’ll blow at just a spark. Please watch your kids, okay? LYN: Another thing to keep them away from the manholes for is that children are likely to fall in. My family always told me that. You’ll be swallowed up by darkness. LYN: Another fun thing was lighting up a glass lantern and carrying that around. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of it, or if they’re still around... Comment: I’ve blown up cow dung. LYN: Instead of blowing fireworks you’ve blown up cow dung Uhm... ok. I’m jealous that you were able to have such an experience. I can imagine that blast would be especially surprising. [..] If course, who hasn’t had such an experience? I didn’t know any better as a kid, so I used to throw them into latrines- of course, when no one was there! I don’t know if you’ve ever done that, but I have. Comment: I’m sure you must have been yelled at when you got home. LYN: Do you know how mischievous a kid I was? I wasn’t going to STAND there (and get caught). I threw it in and ran away.
LYN: I’m from Dongbei but recently it’s been snowing in more southern regions. I saw a lot of my friends from the south have been surprised and excited by the snow and want to go watch it. They uploading very happy posts to their weibo, and I’m just thinking “It’s just snow, what’s there to look at.” What haven’t you seen in Dongbei? Winter in Dongbei the mountain would be covered with snow and we’d find a high slope and a sack. We’d sit on the sack, holding two corners and slide down the mountain. The first one down has to have some skill and rely on themselves because- as the first one down- there’s no path yet. You have to make a path first, then go back up and slide down. You’d wear cotton (stuffed) pants and by the end of the day the cotton would be falling out. I’d go home and my grandma would yell at me. LYN: There was another slope hear my house, at about a 30° angle. There were two houses on that hill but they didn’t have any canals/waterways- the water they used would just naturally flow down the ways. So in the winter, there was a road that would be covered with ice- from all the water flowing from those two houses- we’d take a shovel, sit on the metal part and hold the handle and slide down that slope. I played like that for many years, sliding down that slope. LYN: There was no Harry Potter back then. Harry Potter can ride a broom to fly. Modern Brothers could only ride a shovel and slide. Comment: I’ve never seen snow before. LYN: Find a nearby ski resort. Seeing snow isn’t that hard nowadays. If you can’t find a ski resort head to northern cities. You’ll see snow eventually. There are always opportunities.
Comment: Have you played mahjong yet this year? LYN: Not yet, I haven’t had the chance. When I go home I would play mahjong or poker with friends but I haven’t had the chance. Comment: Do you bet money? LYN: This is a dangerous question. Are you doing this on purpose? You must be. LYN: No, we... we don’t bet money. We... we bet guazi (melon seeds: mostly watermelon, pumpkin, or sunflower). Comment: Sticking papers (on your face). LYN: Right, we stuck papers.
- he’s in the trending list, and the topic has advanced a little from earlier. LYN: It doesn’t matter. It’s just the New Year and I’m here to have a chat with you all, the trending topic doesn’t matter.... but it’s nice to have. I’ve said before- because I stream all the time- if it were anyone else then it might be a new sight (and worthy of a trending topic)- but I stream ALL THE TIME. I’ve streamed so much I’m the Stream King (Award). Think about how much that means I’ve streamed for. I stream so much and people STILL aren’t satisfied. They still feel like I don’t stream enough. Is there a standard? Is there someone who has streamed a lot (more than me)? I’ll send this award to them. Comment: Ning-ge, it’s just because I miss you. LYN: I understand. That’s why I’m here, isn’t it? Also, I already said this, but I have important work to do- I have to keep busy. Comment: Ning-ge, I love seeing you talk back at people. LYN: I really don’t- I rarely talk back at people in my streams. Is that right? My lines are all in joking manner, but if you ever want me to talk back will ill-intent... /threateningly/ it’ll be a different feeling. But it won’t happen. Usually when I talk-back at someone it’s only to my own disadvantage. If I see a comment that looks like it is typed in a kind manner, I’ll joke around with you, too, because I know that you won’t take offense. Comment: I came with no reason. LYN: Is the word out on the jianghu that there’s someone dubbed the “Stream King”? You’ve heard of this moniker so you’ve stopped by especially to scope him out? You want to know who the “Weibo Stream King” is?
LYN: People keep asking me in the comments section when I’m going to find a significant other. First of all- my mom isn’t anxious/rushed about it, so you don’t have to be either. Alright? My family isn’t even pushing me to marry yet. I know I’m on the older side, but I’m not in a rush to have a child or anything. I still have my dream. Think about it- I only just became a celebrity at 30 and you want me to go back and get married and have a kid? Maybe if I were younger, but I’m already so old I can’t be having these (nonsensical) thoughts. I’ve wanted to be a celebrity since I was a kid and now that I’ve become one I stop and get married and have a kid??? LYN: /sigh/ I have a different thoughts than the rest of you. YOU all need to think about getting married and having kids; it’s a normal part of being filial to your parents. But my family situation is a bit different. Comment: How are you different? LYN: I won’t go into detail, but everyone is different- how they grow up is different and their ways of thinking and personality are all different, accordingly. You may not be able to understand other people and likewise other people may not be able to understand you. It’s okay not to have a mutual understanding- just don’t interfere with one another’s lives.
Comment: Did you main lead discussion go well? LYN: Who told you about that; I don’t think I did, did I?? Don’t blindly guess- then people are going to say I’m thinking too highly of myself and I’m shooting for main roles now. It’s not like that- I look at the role/character. I accept any position. LYN: As an onlooker, I think this industry has a bad tendency- that is, a lot of people aren’t willing to accept second male lead roles. Well, it’s not that they are unwilling- it’s that if they play a main lead and then turn around and play second lead people will criticize and say things like, “Look OOO was a main lead and now they’re back to playing a supporting character.” This way of doing things really prevents producers from getting the most outstanding casting panel. You know? LYN: For example a drama has five roles- every role has a person most suited to it. Of course, the people most suitable are already at the top of the industry. Think about it- among these five, who’s willing to be the 5th male lead? If there was a really popular actor right now who is exactly suited for the FIFTH male lead role and you offer it to them- will they come? They can’t. Even if they do come their fans probably won’t stand for it. LYN: I don’t want to be tied down by these rules. If one day I accept a main lead role and later you want me to act as third or fourth lead I will still accept. So I really like to look at the role and if it’s suitable and if I like it, or if I like the script. It’s not about how much money you can make as the male lead. All money is made the same way. Of course, money is not the most important aspect. I just wish people would think it through, and that way there will be even better dramas. LYN: Take any older drama, for example. Any classic- you’ll find that the main and supporting characters are all excellent actors. That’s why it was able to become an outstanding drama. But dramas nowadays are all--- uhm... yeah. LYN: I hope that if one day I really do land a male lead role, but then turn back and take a role as a supporting character, that you all will not be disappointed in me. I have my own plans and my own understanding of this industry. You may not understand but I hope you can trust me. LYN: Nowadays when I’m picking a role I look at the duration. If a drama wants me in the crew for 3-4 months but only for 100 or so scenes, I won’t accept. I’ll feel like I’m wasting my time. I’ll look at the character and duration. If the character is really great! but you only have two scenes- it’s not worth it. (For example) You’re a god! You’re the Weibo Stream King! These roles are amazing- but you only get one scene and then you’re out... I’m not gonna accept the role.
Comment: Ning-ge, what types of roles do you like? LYN: I like.... actually they’re all good. The thing that makes me happy about acting is that you can experience the lives and minds of a lot of different people. It’s like playing “Script-Killing” (Murder Mystery Games) in real life. I heard that’s a popular game nowadays; I feel like I’m playing it every day. Each character I play is different- there may be some parts that overlap but they generally all lead different lives, so it’s pretty meaningful. You asked me what types of roles I like to play- I hope I can act as someone a little more complicated. That’ll be more of a challenge for me. LYN: People ask actors nowadays what type of role they would like to play and they usually answer that they want to be a bad guy. But if you ask me the same question I’ll tell you I want to play a good guy. XD I want to play a kind person. I’m different from others. Because other actors usually play good guys with a lot of love and endless naivete but I usually play... not usually, but I’ve played a few bad guys already. LYN: From my debut until now, three of my dramas have aired. HBY - UN - CGX. The latter two, I’ve played are good guys. The first one- a villain. After that first drama aired- I didn’t gain ANY fans or recognition. All the comments were so negative, they even started attacking the actor. So, Heroes is about to air.... (My role in) Heroes is also... /clicks tongue/ You know it. (A VILLAIN :D). Now I’m worried that my fans will get too much into the story and start to yell at me. They were just passersby but after watching this drama they will become my antis. Comments: That just means you’re acting well! LYN: Ehm.. then just praise my good acting. Don’t yell at me. You can’t say, “I’m cursing at you BECAUSE you act well.” It’s like you’re walking on the street and someone punches you. You ask them why they punched you and they say it’s for your own good. “I punched you so you know in the future not to walk willy-nilly on the street.” Comment: They’re cursing the role, not you. LYN: I know. But go look up the comments for that drama and see who they’re cursing at. You tell me. Go look. The comments on that drama are like, “Wei Chengfeng is too terrible. There’s no helping this type of person, he’s just a dog! I’m guessing LYN is like this in real life too.” Amazing. Comment: Villains gain a lot of fans. LYN: I hope so.
LYN: Some people have said that they’ve seen my hairstyle for the ending of Heroes and it’s a little unbearable. The one covering half my face? Let me tell you- the three hairstyles in this drama- I’ve designed them myself. The hair/makeup laoshi asked my opinion and I shared with them my understanding of the three stages of this character I’ve gained from reading the script. When he first enters the jianghu he should have a younger look- during the middle he should be more matured- and at the end, he’s changed, and we have to go to the extreme. I’m not saying this so you think I’m skilled or so that you can later curse at the production. Don’t complain about how the character looks- he looks like that based on my own input. I designed it myself and told the laoshi to comply. Anyway, just trust in Director Li Muge. Comment: Is it airing tomorrow? LYN: Tomorrow, probably... no! ??? You’re too early. Comment: Is it 6k high definition? LYN: 6k? Camera equipment already films things in 8k. 6k. You want an “O-K” too? 6 or 8k, it doesn’t matter because you don’t have anything that can play the video back in such high quality. Are you going to broadcast it in a movie theater? I don’t believe your local theater plays television dramas. Comment: 24k. LYN: 24k doesn’t even exist. >.<
- talking about Director Li Muge and how his works always become a hit; and his style of directing (scenic) Comment: Director Muge shoots people really beautifully. LYN: The condition is that the people themselves are already beautiful. It’ll be hard for him on someone like me. > /distracted/ - Daimi is playing around in the bg LYN: Look, she’s here to steal the scene. > /distracted/ Comment: Change the song, I’m tired of it. LYN: !! Even if you are, you can’t say that to my face. Alright, I’ll change it to another lively song for you. Comment: I want to hear Wang Sulong. LYN: Go to his weibo, then. > /back to the topic/ LYN: In any case with our group of actors, on-camera I come out the chubbiest. He’s tried different ways to make me look cooler but in the end he said, “It’s enough. I only ask that you suit the character, I won’t ask for more.” [t/n: here’s lyn self-deprecating humor...]
-- bathroom break -- Comment: Bring Daimi over (in front of the camera). LYN: I’ll let her stream for you a while. No- When I leave, she’ll leave! LYN: You think she’ll stay here and play for you? XD I’d better play a video. - [t/n: I guess people have been taking to citing poems while he’s afk so that any passersby who srop in can see that this stream is “cultured.” XD he comes back and recites some, too.]
Comment: Ning-ge, all your songs recently have to do with “stars.” LYN: Aren’t all the songs being written nowadays like that? “Sky” “Stars” “Sunlight” “Happiness” They’re all popular expressions nowadays. “Radiance” “Belief” etc.
Comment: Ning-ge, can you be my Master? LYN: You want to be Stream King? You also want to become such an impressive person? Uhm.. you can’t. This is a “Educate the Disciple, Starve the Master” situation. [t/n: meaning if he teaches someone else his trade, then he himself will be out of work XD] LYN: But! You can become a disciple of the Night Owl Sect all on your own.
Comment: Lao-da, how come there haven’t been “reaction” videos lately? LYN: Because I haven’t been on any shows lately. [..] Some people want me to comment on other people’s singing or things like that- I can’t judge. Stop messing with me. I can’t comment on anyone else, and it’s enough that I judge myself.
Comment: Are you streaming past 12a today? LYN: I started at 6p- you want me to stream past 12a- that means I’d have to be streaming for six hours?!? My friends, please think about how much time you spend in school. One class is 40 minutes. How many classes do you have a day? 9? 9x40 = 360 minutes, that’s exactly... (6 hours). [t/n: watching a 6hr lyn stream is equivalent to 1 day at school? XD]
Comment: After six months I found myself here again. LYN: So you were my fan, but then stopped? After half a year you thought I was still a decent person to like? Then you’re... a returning customer! Wow, I even have returning customers now...
Comment: Ning-ge, what variety show do you want to go on? LYN: What, are you going to make it happen for me? You’ll get me on whichever I want to go on, your connections are THAT good? I didn’t know I had such talented people among my friends! Nice~ I want to go to... /thinking/ I’m not very picky right now. /clears his throat/ Any will do. :) Comment: Ning-ge, what type of role do you want to play? I’ll write a script for you. LYN: /sigh/ Just writing a script won’t be enough if no one finds me to play the character... I want to play an... hmmm... Someone who lives in 2022, who time-travels back to 1990. And I have a notebook, and written inside is the winning lottery numbers for every week. I don’t need anything else, just a notebook with winning numbers and dates. That’s enough. Write one for me. :p Comment: Restarting Your Life Simulation LYN: Hey, we’ve got the title already! LYN: I don’t know if you will think about this, but I do- what if one day I could go back in time but keep my memories from today; start your life over and remake past decisions. You think about it, right? I think it’s a good thing, I used to think about it all the time. But recently I haven’t. :) Because now if I go back in time and take one wrong step, I probably wouldn’t be a star now. Comment: Ning-ge, if I were to go back in time the first thing I’d do is look for you. LYN: ?! What are you looking for me for??? Comment: I’d go back and be your daughter. LYN: Then going backwards is useless. You have to wait until I HAVE a daughter first. A son is fine too. Actually, I have an uncle on my dad’s side but his kids are daughters, so I am the only son of this generation of the Liu family. So sons are, you know... the seeds... of the Liu family... But it’s ok. We don’t really pay attention to these types of things- as the new generation of youth these days.
LYN: Am I still trending? Am I dreaming? Come on quick, give me a slap! Let me know this isn’t a dream. Reach your hand over and slap me! LYN: I’m not dreaming, am I? Let me check. - /confirms he’s at #24; wishes everyone health and happiness in the new year./ Comment: Ning-ge, I want “bào fù” (explosion of fortune) [wealth instead of health] LYN: You’re not afraid you type that in the comments and get “bào fù” (retaliated against) instead? Don’t. Sometimes you make a wish and you don’t know what god is listening- perhaps they have a dialect and end up misunderstand your wish. Right? I’m sure not all gods speak Standard Mandarin. So be careful. There’s nothing wrong with me wishing you “health.” LYN: Also, no one “explodes in wealth”- they’d have to time travel with all the winning lottery numbers and maybe it’ll happen. But that’s... too difficult. Comment: I want to “live long, never aging” (immortality) LYN: You have the same dream as a lot of impressive people- immortality. XD Then, go eat that fruit from Journey to the West... what’s it called? Some “Immortal Fruit”.... Oh, it’s “Life Fruit”. Comment: I want to be young forever. LYN: Going out and buying some anti-aging products will work better than just shouting into my comments. Buy some face masks and apply them as you watch my stream; it’ll preserve your youth for a bit. Maybe five minutes. [..] You want to be young forever.. SO DO I!
Comment: You dropped on the trending list. LYN: Even if I did, you don’t have to TELL me. - it’s still up, at #27 instead of #24; lyn says it’s ok because as long as people see it, they’ll come to check him out and maybe become a follower :) there’s always the chance. Comment: Singing grows more fans. LYN: You want me to sing, is that it? I will, when DF and AZ are back. We’ll hold our 3rd Carnation Festival. But I won’t sing for now because I have some work to do later. I’m preserving my voice. Comment: I’m not a fan, I came to hear you chat. LYN: THEN CHAT WITH ME! What do you want to chat about? [..] You, you don’t want to chat WITH me, you want to HEAR me chat. Okay. Comment: I’m not (a fan) either. LYN: You came to watch me stream, that’s fine but why did you have to add “I’m not your fan, but” to the beginning of your sentence?? Even if you aren’t my fan now, who knows when you might become one? Some things are inexplicable like that- like “love at first sight.” Comment: You’re being too narcissistic aren’t you? LYN: :( I’m not being narcissistic- how could I have such self-confidence, I’m just making jokes. If someone comes in and says, “I’m not your fan.” should I say, “Okay, it’s probably because I’m not cool enough. I’ll work harder.” ??? It’s like there’s a new student in your class and they come up to you and say “I don’t like how you look but I want to be friends with you.” How are you supposed to answer?? LYN: Don’t look too much into the things I say here. I’m just trying to make things funny so that you can remember me. It’s a tactic. If you learn how to do it right, you too can become the Stream King. Get it? Jiayou.
LYN: I saw that down here, there’s a “Weibo Stream King” banner- could I not have that and get a 1 year Weibo VIP Membership instead? LYN: I’ve heard that Weibo will give some people special privileges. Like me, when I stream they give me this banner. For HZT- his weibo is amazing- usually people can only change their nicknames once a year but HZT can change his as many times as he wants. My super privilege is that I CAN STREAM WHENEVER I WANT. Isn’t it amazing? XD I’ve gained weibo freedom.
- wishes people happy bday bc they asked XD
Comment: The cartoon looks good. LYN: You can sit here for a while and watch it. This screen might be a little small, so go and find a magnifying glass.
Comment: Is this the Dongbei dialect? LYN: It is, of a sort. My friends, please don’t misunderstand- there might be some brands, dramas, or other such producers and directors watching me- when I stream I usually don’t speak the standard dialect, but I CAN speak it. - demonstrates his command of standard dialect with tongue twisters XD LYN: Who knows, maybe some producer is watching and after being impressed by my pronunciation of the tongue twisters want me to act as their main lead. You never know. Comment: The probability is low. LYN: I’m telling you- people can’t keep thinking of the probability of things. You have to have hope towards any possibility. Did you forget how I got the ALZ job? I was having a meal- at another drama’s wrap party, no less. A lot of surprises in life come when you’re least expecting them. LYN: There’s a song for this- /plays Magical Surprise/.
Comment: I found myself here. LYN: Welcome. See, there’s a saying that “if your wine is fragrant enough, don’t be afraid your shop won’r be discovered.” Comment: You publicized it well. LYN: I actually haven’t done any publicity, because I don’t have anything to promote right now. My fans are publicizing for me. But if you’re watching right now, please follow my weibo. Next time I stream it will alert you, but whether you watch or not is your own business. Maybe one day, when you’re bored, you can watch my stream. My stream is like... it’s like those emergency hammer (glass breakers) for cars. You might only use it if your car ever drops into water or in an emergency where you cannot open your car door. You may not use one in 100 years, but you need to have one, just in case. My streams are like that. You may never want to watch one, but one day it may be useful. - also likens his streams to chili bean paste, used for sauces to liven up the flavor of dishes XD LYN: Most people who are coming in because they see my topic on the trending list may be waiting for some punchline. Actually, my stream doesn’t have one. I usually just talk about my life experiences. But, maybe my life itself is actually... a joke. LYN: The people I really have to thank, though, is those who create those short clips. Even if I say something that might not be very exciting, the way they cut the video makes it exciting. They add music and special effects, too. And they are very kind people, who don’t twist my words, and always make sure to put everything I say into context. I’m thankful to you because a lot of people see those clips and want to check me out as well.
Comment: Ning-ge, how is your skin so nice. LYN: :D /clicks his tongue/ Are you messing with me? :) It’s because the filter is on 100% and the blur tool is at 12%. Comment: Turn off the filters. LYN: No way. It’s the New Year, let’s not have any unreasonable demands. Comment: It’s not because of the avocado? LYN: It really isn’t. My skin isn’t good- well, it’s not BAD- just average. The blur tool is really at 100%- so you can’t see any pores. I only ate the avocado for one day, I couldn’t do it ;w;
Comment: Can you put fireworks on? LYN: ? The city doesn’t allow fireworks. There are videos all over the internet, but you came to my stream to watch fireworks? You can see everything in here? Look, here’s snow. Now you want to see fireworks? - plays sound effects XD; someone tells him to tell Siri to set off fireworks, lol. LYN: Siri’s not embarrassed by this, so I’m not either! Comment: My mom wants me to get out (of the house) to laugh. LYN: It’s the new year, talk to your mother nicely.
- someone asks about his next drama. he thinks about it (rolling his eyes around his head) and determines he cannot reveal anything yet. Comment: LYN knows how to pick good scripts. LYN: I’m not impressive to the extent where I can pick my own roles- it’s the producers who are impressive, and who choose me. [..] Because of The Long Ballad I was able to gain a lot more opportunities and I’m very grateful- a lot of people came to look for me after that drama aired. LYN: I was talking to a producer jiejie and she said that she thinks I’ll do well, that she has a feeling about people and that usually those she looks well upon end up very famous. Comment: She was just being polite. LYN: !! What are you doing?? She was praising me, and you say she was just saying that to be polite?! Even so, hearing it made me happy and made me want to work harder. We were sitting at the same table, you think she’d be impolite?? She sits me down for a talk like, “Listen, I don’t think you’re suited for acting. Don’t sing, either. Just go back and stream for your fans.” ??? Even if she was just being polite, she gave me a goal.
Comment: OMG, it’s my first time watching your stream. LYN: There’s no need to be so excited. Please, sit and watch. Don’t stand there, have a seat. There’s no need to be excited, my stream isn’t that amazing. I’m just a very small “Stream King.” Comment: I want to stand and watch! LYN: Alright, then. You can also watch while jump-roping and do some body conditioning.
Comment: Can I have one of the figures? LYN: No. I can’t help you with that. I’ve said this since I was young- that if I wanted something I would work hard to get it for myself. I hope you can develop this habit, too.
- a lot of new people are watching his stream for the first time. LYN: What a coincidence, so am I.
Comment: Tell us about Dilireba. LYN: Are you insane? You want me to talk about other artists in my stream? What she did, what she wants to do, etc.? You must be nuts. Also, what’s an old man like me going around talking about girls behind their backs for?? In my stream you can only hear about me. And if you’re not interested in me?? Then you can sit here for a while. LYN: I’ll never discuss other people’s business. Unless it’s something good, like they have a drama currently airing, and I can spread the word about it.
Comment: Is that a purposeful hairstyle? LYN: Look at this, my hair doesn’t move when I shake my head. I used half a can of hair spray, do you think this style was on purpose or not?
Comment: Ning-ge, do you eat 砂糖橘 (sugar tangerines)? LYN: I don't dare to. Well, they’re okay... I just think that small oranges aren’t satisfying. Also, I’ve seen a lot of videos where people eat a whole crate of them by themselves. Some eat so much they end up in the hospital. Also, that if you eat too many, you’ll turn orange. You can eat some, but in moderation. LYN: I had a friend who I grew up with complain that all of his friends were so pale but he was yellow because his mom liked to eat oranges when she was pregnant with him. There’s no scientific evidence behind this, but it’s something I remembered him saying. [..] Another thing I’ve heard is that if a woman is pregnant and eats a lot of grapes their child’s eyes will be big. Or if they drink a lot of milk or soy milk, then their child will be pale. Comment: Are raisins ok? LYN: How would I know?? These are all just rumors that I’ve heard. But I mean, if you’re pregnant and drink soy milk- in moderation- it’s all nutrients. Comment: Ning-ge, if the mom eats too many grapes will the baby come out purple? LYN: ... ??? ... I said earlier that if the mom eats too many oranges then the baby will be orange; but if the mom eats too many grapes, then the baby will be purple...? They’ll become Thanos? This mother must not have spit out her grape skins when eating grapes. [t/n: another tongue twister: 吃葡萄不吐葡萄皮...] LYN: It’s not like a dye, you’re not going to make the Calabash Brothers.
Comment: Ning-ge, is there a fast way to do homework? LYN: The first way to do your homework quickly is to learn well. If your mind is full of knowledge you can take one look at your homework and write the answers out in no time. If you don’t listen to your teacher during class of course you’re not going to know how to do your homework. The second way is to send me your homework, I’ll do it for you.
Comment: What do you eat to grow taller? LYN: Regarding height, scientists have studied this for centuries and still have not found an answer. You’re asking me?? First is your genetics, the second way is to stretch your legs. When I was going to school I was actually really short and I would be bullied. I only started to grow taller in junior high. But I didn’t want to be bullied anymore, so I went up the mountain to find a Master, remember I’ve told you before? I really didn’t learn any martial arts, but I did a lot of leg stretches. Anything you do- the basics are the most important. Flexibility was the first step, so I did leg stretches every day. At the time I could have pressed my leg right up against the wall, I practiced to that extent. [t/n: Is THAT how he was able to dismount the horse like this. XD] LYN: It happened to coincide with when I was growing, so I ended up tall. Think about it- your legs grow quickly- if the tendons are flexible then it doesn’t tighten and restrict the bone and muscle and gives room for growth. When I’m sitting you can’t tell that I’m nearly 1.8m tall, but if I stand up you’ll think, “Wow, so tall! Comment: You’ll make the bones loose. LYN: No, when you do leg stretches you’re stretching the tendons, not your BONES. [..] Anyway, I think being flexible really helps. No one in my family is particularly tall- my father is 175-176, and my mother is 162-163. These two people create a child who is.. 189?? I still think something mysterious happened there. LYN: I really didn’t eat anything special as a kid, and we didn’t have the means. I didn’t really like to drink milk either. /pauses/ But I loved yogurt! [t/n: bc he has a contract with Chunzhen, lmao]
Comment: My problem is that I have too much hair. (bc they were talking about hair loss) LYN: Aren’t you frustrating. How about this. Sell your hair to a drama crew- all the wigs are made from real hair.
Comment: Ning-ge, why don’t you collab with a lipstick or something? You’ve debuted for three years but have never collaborated with one. LYN: I almost did. But (the gig) was stolen from me by someone. It’s fine. I just have some enemies in this industry. “Enemies” as in some people I have a grudge with. LYN: It’s normal though. Like when I worked in a clothes shop- once there was a lady who tried on clothes all afternoon, but said she would come back later to pay. I happened to have gone out for a lunch break when she came in to pay for her purchases, and my coworker got the commission. :/ LYN: I’ve had a lot of jobs but I’ve also had a lot of jobs taken from me, too. It’s all part of the business. - /starts talking business tactics and the nitty-gritty of price negotiations/
Comment: What do you usually do when you want to take a real break/rest? LYN: I usually play games and there are SO many out lately.
- talks about how great is was to work with the ALZ crew; also he’s likely to dub himself (bc his character doesn’t have a lot of lines), but it’s not time yet. LYN: Don’t be in a rush. I’m still filming new dramas too. Maybe one year I’ll have 6 dramas airing at the same time! You won’t want to see me anymore! Comment: Will you sing an OST for ALZ? LYN: Probably. I usually will... I even got two for Heroes.
LYN: For anyone who takes a picture of me when I’m out at work- if you happen to take a picture of me in character, I thank you, but please don’t edit me to look whiter. Take how dark I am originally and ADD a layer darker. Don’t give people misunderstandings about my character.
Comment: Ning-ge you look so happy when streaming. If you see this comment, nod your head. LYN: /shakes his head/ What are we doing? Sending secret signals?
Comment: My grandpa says you look like my father. LYN: ?_? Your grandfather is too polite. I’m honored to look like your father. Thank you for the compliment. Comment: My granpda says you look really pale! LYN: You two watch my stream with your grandparents?? It must be the new year, you’re at home, yeah? I’ll wish all the grandpa and grandmas watching a new year, and to be healthy!
Comment: Are you a real person? LYN: At this moment and time I am an AI. Hunan Satellite TV has Xiao Yang, don’t they? I’m “Lao Yang”.
-- bathroom break --
LYN: I always see people coming in and saying “OOO stop watching!” Don’t treat my fans this way- they’re young. They have their own thoughts and feelings. What’s wrong with watching my stream? I’m an upstanding person- I’m not going to influence their mental health negatively. Rest assured, I won’t teach them wrong. LYN: It makes me sad. This is like- you’ve just walked into a restaurant. You’re just about to order but your mom walks in and says, “Don’t eat, we’re leaving.” If you’re the owner of the restaurant, how would you feel?
Comment: Ning-ge, the cup you’re using is out of stock. LYN: It was hard to buy in the first place. :) - starts explaining the English on it XD
Comment: Has anyone introduced main lead roles for you? LYN: There are a few, I’m looking into them. If I am able to accept the role it will be my honor, and if they don’t want me it is also my honor. Because they still thought of me in the first place.
Comment: Why do you think to put your hand at the corner of your mouth? LYN: It’s just a small l habit of mine. I do it when I’m thinking. Streaming is easy if you say it is, but it is also difficult because it requires you to think of multiple things at once and it’s easy to lose your focus. It keeps me sharp because I have to think three times before I reply with one sentence. When I’m thinking I’ll put my hand here and when I want to speak I’ll drag the mic over. I don’t do it to look cute, my friends.
Comment: Can you pick up more guzhuang dramas? LYN: All the dramas I’m shooting right now ARE guzhuangs?? - talks about wanting to properly act to his full potential in guzhuang dramas first, even though he’s heard that modern dramas are relatively more easy to shoot (in regards to setting/dialogue/hair&makeup); but it all depends on the choices available to him
Comment: Hurry and shoot a modern drama or else in a couple years you can only act as a rich first-gen. LYN: I’ll have to play the male lead’s father?
Comment: Does the avocado work? LYN: After I posted the pic the first day I never touched them again. They’re in my fridge but every time I see them my head hurts and I can’t bring myself to throw them away. But I don’t want to eat them.
Comment: Did you give any drama crews red envelopes? LYN: I believe in fairness. Since I didn’t give you any, I didn’t give the drama crew any, either. But there is an actor group chat and we all were sharing red envelopes there. I gave out about 2000RMB and was able to grab 3000RMB back. Comment: Who’s in it? LYN: Go look up the actors list of my current drama and you’ll know.
Comment: When will you release the second song from your album? LYN: You’ve heard enough of the first one? But when will I release the second one... I haven’t thought about it. It’s not... worthwhile to make an album nowadays. It’ll be annoying to have spent money for a song no one will listen to. Another thing is- I’m not a compositional singer- I don't write my own songs. But all the demos I’ve received, after listening to them I find them no different than the OSTs I’ve released. I’ll get the feeling like, “Why SHOULD I release this song?” It doesn’t sound good, and I don’t particularly want to release it. :\ So I think It’s better not to rush it. I’ve recorded a few OSTs these past few days, anyway.
Comment: When’s Weibo Night? LYN: How should I know? Go ask Weibo. I think it’s in February, though. Even if I DID know, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. Comment: Will you be there? LYN: If they invite me, I’ll probably go. I was talking to a weibo jiejie and she even asked me if I would like to host a bit. You know, on the red carpet? I don’t think I can do it, I asked her, “Are you kidding me?” I told her I was thankful but I didn’t want to make Weibo Night a joke. I’m afraid I’ll mess it up. Maybe I can try in a few more years, when I’m more familiar with the people I’ll be working with/seeing on the carpet.
Comment: Are you planning to be on 2022′s list of Most Handsome Guzhuang Characters? LYN: I’m not planning on it, nor do I ask to be put on one. Please do not give me this title, I’m not worthy. I’ll be successful if I don’t make it onto 2022′s list of Ugliest Men.
Comment: Do you have any scripts where you play yourself? LYN: What do you want me to do? Act as a singer? Comment: Act out your own story. LYN: My story is not interesting. Some things just aren’t as simple as you think. Comment: Get some work for your dog. LYN: For Daimi? Is there anyone (any celebrity) out there whose dog has work? Selling kibble? Doggy diapers? No, right? There are?? [..] Forget it. I hope my Daimi can live a little more innocently.
Comment: Did you fix up your hair today? LYN: I didn’t really fix it. I just washed it and pushed it back a bit. I thought it looked okay so I just fixed it with spray. It wasn’t that complicated.
LYN: It’s about time, I’m out of energy. I streamed a bit much today. Thank you to everyone who is watching and for giving me a trending topic. If you still haven’t followed me, please do so, ok? Thank you. Next time I stream and you have nothing to do, come hang out. - talking about what he’s got to do coming up Comments: Are you dragging because you don’t want to leave? LYN: If you’re doing to be like that then I’ll close out the stream RIGHT NOW. IMMEDIATELY. LYN: Alright, I wish every to have a good night. It was great spending time with you. I’ll see you next time~ Happy New Year!

Inarizaki x Manager Reader
FT: Kita Shinsuke, Ren Omimi, Ojiro Aran, Michinari Akagi, Ginjima Hitoshi, Miya Atsumu, Miya Osamu, Suna Rintarou
TW: Language
Genre: headcanons + crack + fluff???
Word Count: 1,720 (They’re all rlly short! Like me)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
had another crack convo w my bb @babydontstoop abt atsumu and red envelopes after seeing a funny tiktok
a/n: i mainly went off from chinese/vietnamese tradition with the hóngbāos/ and lì xìs for these headcanons bc i celebrate with my chinese + viet relatives growing up, im not familiar with the other traditions, i’m sorry! also 1 week kinda late but technically lunar new years goes on for about 2 weeks sooooo-
FYI: i’m going off of u.s currency for this asdhfkjk just an fyi.
ALSO: all images are taken off of google search, none of them belong to me!
ANYWAYS I HOPE YOU ENJOY HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEARS!! 🧧😚💖
Kita Shinsuke:
- He would give a kinda subtle yet pretty envelope
- With an ox on it (bc year of ox)
- It also has that coin u kno the coin, commemorative coin(?)
- He is very VERY generous
- Gives u $100, all in 20′s babbeyy 🙈
- He hands it to you with both hands like he’s ur ah ma / bà nội
- He’s so kind and gentle please 🥺
Practice had just ended and you were helping the team clean out the gym, before packing and heading out to go home.
“Excuse me Y/n” You hear a soft and calm voice calling from behind you. Turning your head you make eye contact with Kita who barely a few feet away from you
“Kita-san! ” You turn to face him, your hands grabbing onto the straps of your backpack. “May I help you?” You ask giving a sincere smile.
“I’m fine, but there is something I want to give you before you leave” He lifts his left hand from his back, now using his right to connect and grab the envelope with both hands.
“Happy Chinese New Year” He wishes as he extends and offers you the red envelope.
Blushing furiously, you accept it with both your hands and give him your most heartfelt thanks.
Arriving home, you open the red envelope curious. Your soul leaves your body the moment you see good old Benjamin Franklin on the $100 note.
“Kita-san holy fuck.” You cry in shock. Thinking of how you’re gonna thank him.
Ren Omimi:
- Envelope’s square shaped and plain af
- it’s just red with “lucky money” in gold or sum
- He too is very generous
- Gives u $50
- Also hands it to you with both hands
You sit in the gym with your clip board in hand, taking notes of the other players until you feel a presence approach you from your left side.
“Y/n” The deep voice says. You turn to see Omimi’s shadow towering over you, jesus christ this man’s so goddamn tall. “Yes Omimi?” You greet him cheerfully.
The man says not a word, but pulls out a red envelope, handing it to you with both hands.
Your brain short circuits, confused before he gives a nod. Sudden realization takes place, it’s for you. “Omimi!” You cry, setting down the clip board and taking the red envelope from his hands. Thanking him endlessly before he leaves to get back to practice.
As he turns to walk away, you grab your clip board again, shielding yourself opening the red envelope curious. ‘50$?!’ You scream internally.
Running after Omimi, you tackle him from behind giving him a hug, your face buried into his shirt. “Xiexie” You muffled into his jersey.
Aran Ojiro:
- gets you a very fancy envelope
- Like the ones that isn’t sold in packs when u go to the chinese market
- Specifically the ones made from silk and has a jade ring attached
- He gets u ONE LIKE O N E THAT ONE SPECIFIC DESIGN (pls i sound crazy i’ll just attache the image so u kno what im talking abt)
- He wasnt sure how much to put inside so he gives u $40
- He tries to remember how to say happy new year to you and pronounces it perfectly
- No seriously like PERFECTLY like better than me.
- also take this man home right now to meet your parents i fken swear
“Y/N!” You hear someone yell from behind you as you were walking home. Turning you see Aran running to you, trying to catch up.
“Aran?” You run to meet him halfway.
Aran pauses and takes a few breathes before grabbing his backpack and grabbing something from inside.
He pulls out a beautifully crafted silk red envelope pouch with a tassel and jade ring tied to the front.
You stand there completely flustered and frozen.
He looks down, the envelope in both his hands offering it out to you.
“恭喜發財 (gōng xǐ fā cái)” He says perfectly, the sunset hitting his face.
Akagi Michinari:
- Cute bb would give u the cutest fucking envelope
- Probably w hello kitty on it
- He gives you a $2 bill
- Shiiiii he knows whats up, that shit lucky and rare
- He’d hand it to u while giving u a back hug
“Y/n!!!” Before you can turn around, a heavy weight drags you down from behind. “A-Akagi-san?!” You yelp in surprise.
He stays cling onto you from behind as you try to gain balance. Hearing him let out a soft chuckle. “Here you go!” He says, his arms going around your shoulders to shove the super cute Hello Kitty li xi in your face.
You take a second to process what he had just given you to face. “AKAGI!!” You take it as he hops off your back. Then turning around to smother him into a hug. Giving him little cheek kisses.
Ginjima
- I love him, he would give u a cute envelope too
- Like with a little cartoon ox character on it
- With like lil horns sticking out
- U get the idea
- Gives u $10 but in $2 bills
You sit with the Miya twins and Suna during lunch, scanning around the cafeteria trying to find Ginjima, usually he’d be with you guys.
As you were about to ask-speak of the devil.
“Y/n-chan” He immediately sits beside you, placing his tray of food down.
“This is for you” He reveals the cutest red envelope with a cartoon cow on it, handing it to you flustered. His cheeks bursting red.
You sit and stare for a second, you start to blush feeling embarrassed. Slowly taking it from his hands, you give him a quiet ‘thank you’ before returning to your meal.
Unsure of what to do, before going back into your meal, you quickly turn your head planting a kiss to his cheek.
Osamu, Suna and Atsumu watched, their jaw dropped as Ginjima begins to turn into his own red envelope. Before you quickly place your face in your palms.
Atsumu Miya:
- This mfer would give the flashiest one
- Like you kno the ones that are so colorful and has like
- W those shitty knock-off characters from cartoons
- THE FUCKING MINION OR PEPPA PIG ONE BWHAHAHAH
- Hes broke as fuck so its p empty
jk
- He would put a coin inside.
- Not the fortune coin
- Literally a coin like a quarter or somethin
- Hed slap it against ur table while giving it to u
- He tries to say happy new year but fucking butchers it
You sit at your desk, it’s so early in the morning and your parents had woken you up early to help prepare some cooking essentials for tonight’s dinner.
As you were about to doze off to sleep, you hear a CLACK against your desk, immediately waking you up and having you face up.
Just inches away was Atsumu’s face, that lil smirk oh how you just wanna-
You look down seeing the red envelope he placed on your desk.
“CHUC MUNG NAM MOIIIIIII” he greets dragging out the “i” it’s like he didn’t even try to pronounce the greeting correctly. He ruffles your hair and gives another warm smile.
You look back up to him, blushing before greeting back. “Ah, chúc mừng năm mới ‘Tsumu.”
Atsumu quirks his eyebrow staring back down at you. “I’m pretty sure you said it wrong.” He says before walking off to his desk.
You sit there fucking flabbergasted. ‘What the fuck?’ You blink and turn your attention back down to your desk. Looking at the envelope you cringe. ‘It’s so bright...’ you internally think.
Osamu Miya:
- He gives you the basic basic red envelope
- He was running late and didnt have time to stop by the bank, he wanted to be extra and give you $20 in $2 bills.
- So he just gives you a $20 bill.
- When he hands it to u, u notice its all bumpy
- Ur feeling around the envelope and theirs something else inside than just money
- U open and theres lucky candy stuffed inside
“Good-morningggggg” You turn to look up from your desk, seeing the younger twin walk in after his brother. He looks down at you, then to your desk seeing the red envelope his brother gave you.
He cringes with you, before pulling out another, handing it to you.
“Happy Tết cutie” He greets. You thank him and greet him back as you take the envelope, you realize how bumpy and lumpy it is.
You look back up to Osamu, he’s waiting for you to open it. You open it and out drops like 7 pieces of lucky candy.
You look back up to him in confusion before he swoops in and takes back the 7 pieces, unwrapping them all at once and shoving them into his mouth.
Chewing, he winks at you before walking away to his seat. You can hear the audible crunch coming from the hard as fuck candy as he walks away.
Suna Rintarou:
- My guy doesnt even give you a red envelope
- He straight up just gives you cash
- Drops it on your desk and leaves
…
- Im jk he would come back and be like “sike u thought”
- Pulls out a red envelope, cute but has one of the most stupidest fucking design
You listen to the crunching of Osamu’s poor teeth grinding against the lucky candy before-
“Yo” Before having the time to look up, you hear a slap against your desk as Suna begins to turn to walk away. You look down to see a $50 bill on your desk.
You turn to look at him, he stares at you for a second before walking away.
???
He comes back to you after settling his bag down.
He takes the $50 on your desk and slips it into the red envelope now in his hands. After sliding it in he brings the envelope to his mouth and begins to lick the ends as he seductively looks at you before folding the paper in.
You watch him in disgust suna baby you don’t have to lick the ends of the red envelope that’s not how they work. He sets the red envelope back on your desk, his head coming closer to yours, enough for you to feel his breath against you.
He brings his mouth over to your ear before whispering in a husky voice “Happy Lunar New Year đẹp gái qua~” Before pulling away and walking to his desk like nothing happened.
You sit there absolutely shaken, until you look down to see the red envelope he left. Jesus fuck what the hell is that thing.

This new Dragon Boat Festival pin arrived late but better late than never! It will join the Lunar New Year lantern pin in the Lantern pin series 😀 Did you know? The Dragon Boat Festival is a holiday celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar (typically in late May or June.) The most well known story for the origin of this festival is the story of Qu Yuan, a high official who committed suicide by drowning himself in the river. People that highly respected him raced out on boats to save him and when they could not, they threw sticky rice balls (zongzi) into the river in hopes that the fish would eat them instead of Qu Yuan. This lantern depicts the dragon boats that are raced and the zongzi that are eaten each year to celebrate this holiday. #enamelpins #lapelpins #asianart #dragon #dragonboat https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfuy_5CJdDZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

tragic icon: john f. kennedy
“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” - John F. Kennedy
These are words that everyone needs to hear and adhere to, especially in these insanely polarized times. Normally, I don’t cover politicians in these analyses, but this man is an exception. He was more than a politician, he was in many respects a beguiling figure: the handsome, intelligent, and charming scion of a prominent New England family, he inherited both wealth and political pedigree. The man who said these words, John F. Kennedy, was the youngest man ever elected to the presidency, succeeding the man who, at the time, was the oldest. He was looked at as a callow playboy, not serious about public policy or his career until quite late, until he runs for Congress in 1946, and maybe not even then. But you can look at the papers he wrote as an undergraduate at Harvard, some of which are available, and see a young man already (true to his lunar nature) thinking deeply and in sustained fashion about important issues. True to his solar nature, he was quite a complex character. He did have his playboy side, but some of his war actions can be called heroic. He symbolized—as he well realized—a new generation and its coming-of-age. Together with his equally beautiful and charming wife, his administration was looked at as “Camelot”. He was the first president born in the 20th century, the first young veteran of World War II to become President.
Kennedy spent less than three years in the White House, yet he was responsible for some extraordinary accomplishments. He eased the Cold War. He pioneered space exploration. After almost two years of mostly avoiding the issue of civil rights, he delivered a speech of exceptional elegance, and launched a drive for a civil-rights bill that he hoped would end racial segregation. He also proposed a voting-rights bill and federal programs to provide health care to the elderly and the poor. Few of these proposals became law in his lifetime. But most of these bills became law after his death—in part because of his successor’s political skill, but also because they seemed like a monument to a martyred president. Most scholars seem to agree that Kennedy was a good president but not a great one. But nearing the 60-year anniversary of his death, Kennedy remains a powerful symbol of a lost moment, of a soaring idealism and hopefulness that subsequent generations still try to recover. His allure—the romantic, almost mystic, associations his name evokes—not only survives but flourishes. The debate over what Kennedy would have done had he lived continues.
John F. Kennedy, according to astrotheme, was a Gemini sun and Virgo moon. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born the second son to a large, well-connected, and wealthy Irish Catholic family. Joseph P. Kennedy, his father, was a financier and former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission who was active in the Democratic party. John’s father had high ambitions for his sons, however, John would be plagued with health problems throughout his life. He contracted scarlet fever and had persistent bouts of malaria, he also suffered from hypoadrenalism and ulcerative colitis, with suspected leukemia and hepatitis along the way. He had chronic back problems that were exacerbated by his physical competitiveness, and Addison’s disease, a hormonal disorder that causes fatigue and compromises the immune system. He was given last rites, the Catholic blessing before death, three times before he reached the age of forty: in 1947 after he returned, gravely ill, from England; in 1951 while running a high fever in Japan; and following back surgery in 1954. John was voted “most likely to succeed” at the prestigious Choate School. After serving for a time as secretary to his father, who in 1937 had been appointed ambassador to Great Britain by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Kennedy graduated from Harvard in 1940. His senior thesis, “Appeasement at Munich,” a study of the British appeasement of Adolf Hitler, was awarded high honours. It was published that same year under the title Why England Slept, and became a bestseller. Kennedy enlisted in the navy in October 1941, and on August 2, 1943, his PT Boat 109 was sunk by a Japanese destroyer. Two of the crew died, but Kennedy helped to rescue his 10 surviving crew members and was awarded the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps medal and a Purple Heart for injury. He returned home a hero, though a naval inquiry into the sinking indicated poor seamanship and command on Kennedy's part. Kennedy had a spinal operation in 1954, and while recuperating he wrote Profiles in Courage, a series of biographies of American politicians who had gone against public opinion to do what they believed was right. It was published in 1955 and won a Pulitzer Prize for biography the following year.
In 1960 he was nominated by the Democratic convention on the first ballot. Kennedy's July 15 acceptance speech offered Americans a “New Frontier” and promised “to get America moving again.” Kennedy’s humour, charm and youth — and his father’s money and contacts — were great assets in the presidential campaign of 1960 against Vice President Richard Nixon. Kennedy expertly presented his platform and himself using a new medium, television, and calling for an expansion of American democratic benefits at home and abroad. In the November election Kennedy and running mate Lyndon B. Johnson won a majority of electoral college votes against Republican nominee Richard M. Nixon but they received less than half the popular vote. At age 43, Kennedy was the youngest man ever elected President. Kennedy said in his famous inaugural address:
“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
Kennedy's New Frontier legislative program was designed to get the U.S. economy moving again after the recession and slow growth of the years under the previous president, Dwight Eisenhower. It emphasized an investment tax credit and other tax breaks for business. His proposed social programs were extensions of the New Deal and a lot of tings we take for granted today: federal aid to education, medical care for the elderly, urban mass transit, a new Department of Urban Affairs, and regional development for Appalachia. Also, Kennedy spearheaded an increase in the minimum wage, higher Social Security benefits, and a public housing bill. It also passed a trade expansion act that significantly increased U.S. exports and opened up foreign markets. In 1962 Kennedy sent federal troops to Mississippi to ensure that James Meredith, an African-American student, could enroll at the University of Mississippi and attend classes without harassment. In 1963 he used federal troops in Alabama to enforce federal court desegregation orders. But Kennedy delayed introducing civil rights legislation until late spring 1963. On August 28, 1963, a March on Washington for Peace and Justice, which attracted more than 200,000 people, convinced Kennedy to push Congress harder for comprehensive civil rights laws. After East Germany constructed the Berlin Wall to seal off the communist side of the city from the West in August 1961, Kennedy traveled to Berlin to show solidarity with its citizens. In August 1963 Kennedy and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev signed the Limited Test Ban Treaty, which banned nuclear testing in the atmosphere, outer space, and the oceans. Only underground testing, which presented no risk of radioactive fallout, would be permitted.
On November 22, 1963, while visiting Dallas, Texas, to help unify the feuding state Democrats, President Kennedy was shot and killed by two bullets fired from the Book Depository building while riding in a motorcade with the First Lady through the center of town. Texas governor John Connally was wounded. Lee Harvey Oswald, the suspected assassin, was taken into custody by Dallas police, but two days later he was killed by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby while being transferred from his cell to an office for questioning. A national commission headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren concluded that Oswald, acting alone, had shot the President in the rear of the head with a rifle and that Oswald had been mentally ill.
This is a special series of star analyses to highlight the Kennedys on this anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
Next, I will focus on his equally yoked, much-celebrated and often-imitated wife who had the appalling misfortune to sit next to him as he was violently murdered that sunny Texas day. She built and cultivated her own mystery and her allure, charm, grit, and grace outlives her: Leo Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Overall personality snapshot: He combined a restless curiosity with a strong critical sense. He wanted to know about everything, to have, as it were, superior knowledge. Since time was precious, however, he was a speed reader rather than a profound scholar, and his priorities focused on what made sense and was useful, and would be of service to himself and other people. You enjoyed posing questions, even though you know the agony of never being satisfied by the answer that will follow. If he was honest (and half of him could be as strictly honest as the other half could bend any facts to fit his case), he would have to admit that he really was a paradox. He was unlikely to admit this, however, because he did not really like being told anything, preferring to work out and follow his own views. His natural critical bent could make it difficult for him to feel happy for very long in any of his projects or relationships. When unsatisfied, he started to overanalyze himself and everyone else. This left him depleted, restless, and drifting from one great idea to the next, but constantly feeling discontented and needing to try one more thing, one more relationship. But when he finally did get his need to communicate together with his desire to be of practical service, he was immensely effective in helping to make his community a better place. His worst enemy was perfectionism and elitism, and when he overcame that and realized that what he created was ‘good enough’, his cleverness, agility and good business sense was a recipe for success.
Versatile, objective and realistic, he needed to be working in those areas where his gifts for analysis and communication could be given free rein, and where you can help find the answer to your endless childhood and adulthood questions of ‘Why? Where? Who? How?’ Busy, busy, constantly active with lots of nervous energy, executive skill, wit and dry humour, he liked to keep on the go but had a way of exhausting himself with good intentions. His best environment was the ‘nervous system’ of society, be it in transport, communications, the media or teaching, and he would hanker to be the king bee rather than the worker. He was a great gatherer and purveyor of information, and he belonged among the intellectuals and artists of this world – or so he believed. He flourished in any area where facts needed to be accurately processed and evaluated in the shortest possible time. He worked with zest, for example, in such areas as journalism or on the news desk of a radio or television station. His was also a strongly logical, scientific combination with a natural talent for questioning and discovering the causes of things, and for sorting information into order. In artistic endeavours he had a gift for translating his immediate living experiences of the world into words, images, songs, carvings or canvas.
He had a warm and charming nature. His features were refined, his bones delicate and his skin fair. His movements were very graceful. He was practical, steady and patient, but he could be inflexible in his views. One thing he did have was plenty of common sense and good powers of concentration, although he tended to think that purely abstract thought was a waste of time. His thought processes weren’t as quick as others, but his decisions were made with a lot of thought behind them. He also had a gloriously resonant speaking-voice. Career issues brought out and exposed his feelings and emotions. In fact, bosses and other authoritarian figures could be the target for any unresolved problems with his mother or parents in general. He was a person who wanted a first-class life-style, and who treasured his possessions. He needed to be able to feel materially secure, and he probably gained wealth through sheer industry, because he was patient, steady and confident in this area of his life. However, he may also have been a little too trusting when it came to money, presuming too easily that there is always more where it came from. His acquired wealth may have been generously distributed, both on himself, for he was self-indulgent, and on others, because he was vulnerable to sob stories. Although he could appear reserved, he was emotional and sensitive. Sometimes he was prone to periods of melancholia and pessimism. He may have found it difficult to launch himself in the outside world unless he had the support of his family, his partner or someone he could trust. As a man, he may have found that domestic duties or confinement weighed heavily on him. He was attracted to people who were conservative in temperament when looking for a marriage partner. He tended to feel most comfortable when he depended on his partner and his partner depended on him.
He belonged to a generation that could be unpredictable in that it liked to instigate change simply for the sake of shaking things up and providing stimulation. Humanitarian ideals became extremely important, as well as the belief in absolute freedom for every individual. He came up with radical new ideas which he stubbornly followed. As a member of this generation, he may have felt deep spiritual convictions, although he may not have seen himself as religious in the traditional sense of the word. He was part of a very artistically talented and creative generation that wanted to escape from the demands of the world around them into a world of excitement and glamour. Members of this generation loved the theater and the cinema, in fact, any sort of creative self-expression. They also believed in the rights of any individual to express themselves. This generation was both idealistic and romantic, selfish and individualistic. Kennedy embodied all of these Leo Neptunian ideals. Also, as a member of the Leo Neptune generation, he experienced and fully embraced changes in sexual mores and attitudes, changing the way people approach the whole issue of romantic relationships. Changes were also experienced in the relationships between parents and children, with the ties becoming looser. He was part of a generation known for its devastating social upheavals concerning home and family. The whole general pattern of family life experienced enormous changes and upheavals; as a Cancer Plutonian, this aspect is highlighted with Kennedy’s sister Kathleen and oldest brother Joseph, Jr. being killed in plane crashes.
Love/sex life: He was a deft and inventive lover who combined his Martian earthiness with the consummate skill of a thoughtful and unembarrassed connoisseur of physical pleasures. He was the most curious lover of this type. He paid just as much attention to what can be learned about love and sex intellectually as he did to the instinctive drives of his body. At times this caused him to over-think his love-making, to make something complex out of what should always be simple, but more often his intellectual curiosity only made him a better informed and more capable partner. At his worst, he was too clever about sex and love for his own good; too concerned about getting the best deal for his sensual nature. Relationships became transactions: this much sex of a certain quality weighed against this much emotional effort and commitment. Thinking like this only made his love life soulless and mechanical and drive the people he loved most away. He was the cleverest and most skillful lover of the supremely sensual type but these marvelous capacities were of little use if he had no one with whom he could share them.
He had a public image of himself as a family man (Mars in Taurus), posing with his beautiful and stylish wife Jackie and with his daughter Caroline and son John Jr. while playing in the Oval office. In reality, Kennedy was a womanizer (Venus in Gemini). He was involved with many women, ranging from movie stars like Marylin Monroe to White house interns and women, connected with Mafia. He preferred blondes. Jackie Kennedy knew about the love affairs of her husband, but she accepted them since she knew Kennedy would always come back to her. The ‘50s and ‘60s were different times. Before then, journalists respected the private lives of politicians. Even though Kennedy’s affairs were well known to his inner circle as well as to reporters, journalists didn’t consider them newsworthy. The public didn’t learn about the juicy private lives of their presidents until they either left office or were already dead It was common among men of the elite to have extramarital affairs. Jackie’s father, John Bouvier, was a known womanizer. Kennedy was described as “reckless”. Though Kennedy remains one of our most beloved and lauded chief executives, the many casual sexual liaisons he engaged in while president have tarnished his reputation. Compared to Kennedy, Bill Clinton was an altar boy. Kennedy employed Dave Powers, as a “special assistant”, or “First Friend”, who had the task of finding beautiful women willing to sleep with the President. Kennedy also used Secret Service to help him smuggle women in and out of White House. President's unrestrained sexual appetite caused morale problems among his Secret Service agents.
all the president’s (known) women:
Diana de Vegh said she engaged in a relationship with the president when she was 20 years old.The affair allegedly began in 1958, making him twice her age. De Vegh, now 83, said that Kennedy would often say there was "something special" about her, which admittedly captured her attention. But this, she said, "is not a romantic story." In fact, she said it took "years to recover" from the romance — "almost as many years" as it took for her to come forward with her story. De Vegh said that she was a junior at Radcliffe College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, when she attended her first political dinner, a benefit for Kennedy. She and Kennedy locked eyes from across the table. At one point, the Massachusetts Senator asked someone to give up their seat "so a tired old man can sit next to a pretty girl," leaving the college student starstruck. The two supposedly met up several times following the benefit. Eventually, de Vegh said, Kennedy invited her back to his apartment in Boston, and the relationship turned romantic, with de Vegh even moving to Washington, D.C., after Kennedy was elected president.
Dane Inga Arvad aka “Inga Binga” was a long-term girlfriend of JFK whilst he worked in the navy, and was rumoured to be a Soviet spy. Their break-up was driven by Kennedy’s father, who feared the terminal effects this relationship could have on his son’s future political career.
German-born Ellen Rometsch was married to a German Air Force sergeant Rolf Rometsch, who was stationed in Washington during the height of the Cold War. However, Rometsch was also a high-class call girl who had a brief dalliance with JFK. She was one of many prostitutes who Dave Powers, JFK’s Special Assistant, solicited for the President. Moreover, she was heavily rumoured to be a communist spy and was expelled from the US in August 1963 (at the behest of Attorney-General Robert Kennedy), with the Profumo Affair in Britain highlighting the danger of sexual promiscuity.
Iconic German actress Marlene Dietrich, who revealed the details of her 1962 tryst with the President, saying, ‘I don’t remember most of what happened because it was all so quick’. She later told friend Gore Vidal that she told Kennedy during their tryst, “Don’t muss my hair. I’m performing”. She was also a long-time lover of JFK’s father, Joseph P Kennedy.
Anita Ekberg, the star of La Dolce Vita and global sex symbol was briefly connected with the President.
A running theme of JFK’s affairs was his dalliances with movie stars. One of the more illustrious was Gene Tierney, who Kennedy had an affair with around 1948, when she was still married.
Judith Exner, a mob moll who served as a conduit between JFK and mobster Sam Giancana, famously claimed that she had an abortion after she became pregnant with the President’s child. “Jack couldn’t have been more loving, more concerned about my feelings, more considerate, more gentle,” Exner, the daughter of a well-off architect, have a 1988 interview to longtime gossip columnist Liz Smith, who wrote extensively about Exner. Exner said Jackie was unsurprised — and fascinated — by what she learned. Exner died at age 65 in 1999 after a battle with breast cancer.
Mary Pinchot Meyer, the sister-in-law of legendary Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee, chronicled their alleged affair in her diary. In early 2016, a handwritten love letter from JFK to Meyer surfaced in an online auction from Boston’s RR Auction. “Why don’t you leave suburbia for once — come and see me — either here — or at the Cape next week or in Boston the 19th,” Kennedy wrote in the four-page letter. “I know it is unwise, irrational, and that you may hate it — on the other hand you may not — and I will love it.” He continued, “You say that it is good for me not to get what I want. After all of these years — you should give me a more loving answer than that. Why don’t you just say yes.” Meyer was murdered in Georgetown in October 1964. Shot twice at a close range, her death is still unresolved and has often been associated with JFK-related conspiracy theories.
Mimi Alford (born Beardsley) was only 19 years old when she started to work as a White House intern. Only four days into the job, JFK seduced her and took her virginity—in his wife Jackie’s bedroom. They continued to have an affair for the next 18 months. Mimi kept affair secret for forty years and revealed her side of a story only after somebody leaked affair to the public. In her book Once Upon a Secret, she described details of an affair, including giving sexual favors to Kennedy’s friends. As she writes, JFK dared her to give oral sex to his friend and assistant, Dave Powers.
Kennedy employed two secretaries, who despite their official titles, had one role only — to pleasure JFK. Priscilla Wear (a.k.a “Fiddle”) and Jill Cowen (a.k.a “Faddle”) were hired to skinny dip with President and accompany him on business trips abroad. Secret Service invented nicknames for them to hide the affair from Jackie Kennedy (who nonetheless, suspected what they were anyway). Jackie once gave a tour of the White House to a Paris Match reporter and, coming across Priscilla, apparently remarked in French, “This is the girl who supposedly is sleeping with my husband”.
His affair with Marilyn Monroe is well-documented and the stuff of urban legends and conspiracy theories. Conspirators say Monroe also got involved with Kennedy’s brother Bobby (partly out of spite for Kennedy not taking her affections seriously) and that she wanted to replace Jackie as First Lady. Her death was ruled a suicide, but conspiracy theories claim that the Kennedy brothers were involved.
minor asteroids and points:
North Node: Capricorn
Lilith: Leo
Vertex: Taurus
Fortune: Capricorn
East Point: Libra
His North Node in Capricorn dictated that he needed to move away from a tendency to see the world only in terms of himself, and develop a more outward-looking view. It would have been good if he took other people’s needs and desires into consideration to a greater degree. His Lilith in Leo dictated that he was dangerously attracted to women who were true performers, the ultimate divas who had chutzpah, creative output and talent, and who had a psychic need to show off their awesomeness and to transcend normal life. His Vertex in Taurus, 8th house dictated that he had a sensual love of natural resources and a lust for precious possessions. His inner senses were ignited by interacting with and transforming material things in an artistic, dignified, and elegant way. He had an internal yearning for an inseparable union with and total commitment from another, come what may. This need was so intense that he may have fantasized all manner of unspeakable actions and reactions if the final dream, once attained, was even threatened. The dark side was that when the reality of our partner did not fit this model (and it rarely did totally) he had a difficult time adjusting if faced with a breach of contract of any sort. Once badly hurt there was a tendency to become jaded and guarded in future relationships, thereby passing up the opportunity to explore interactions which might just have fulfilled out his intense needs perfectly.
His Part of Fortune in Capricorn and Part of Spirit in Cancer dictated that his destiny lay in creating practical and long-lasting achievements. Success came through hard work, determination, responsibility and perseverance. Fulfillment came from observing his progress through life and seeing it take a form and structure that will outlive him. His soul’s purpose guided him towards building security in his life, both emotional and material. He felt spiritual connections and the spark of the divine within his home and family. East Point in Libra dictated that he was more identified with the need for a one-to-one relationship with another. Equality, harmony, justice, fair play and a sense of even-handedness were likely to be basic parts of his identity. He chose to relate in a cooperative way (and the extreme to be avoided is playing doormat, appeasing the other person). He also selected (consciously or unconsciously) competitive relationships and engaged in a series of game-playing (literally and figuratively) associations.
elemental dominance:
air
earth
He was communicative, quick and mentally agile, and he liked to stir things up. He was likely a havoc-seeker on some level. He was oriented more toward thinking than feeling. He carried information and the seeds of ideas. Out of balance, he lived in his head and could be insensitive to the feelings of others. But at his best, he helped others form connections in all spheres of their daily lives. He was a practical, reliable man and could provide structure and protection. He was oriented toward practical experience and thought in terms of doing rather than thinking, feeling, or imagining. Could be materialistic, unimaginative, and resistant to change. But at his best, he provided the practical resources, analysis, and leadership to make dreams come true.
modality dominance:
fixed
He liked the challenge of managing existing routines with ever more efficiency, rather than starting new enterprises or finding new ways of doing things. He likely had trouble delegating duties and had a very hard time seeing other points of view; he tried to implement the human need to create stability and order in the wake of change.
house dominants:
8th
10th
11th
He loved the totality of the human experience and embraced the whole cycle of human life, including birth, sex and death. His darker side, and the complexes and emotions that he preferred to keep hidden, even from himself was a theme throughout his life. His ability to undergo deep personal transformations and spiritual regeneration was also highlighted. His ambition in relation to the outside world, the identity he wished to achieve in regard to the community at large, and his career aspirations were all themes that were emphasized throughout his life. All matters outside the home, his public image and reputation were very important to him. His attitude to people in authority, and how he viewed the outside world, as well as the influence of his mother and his own attitude to her (which was one of contempt) was highlighted. Globally aware, he put emphasis on his friends and acquaintances, as well as the influence of groups and societies on his life. His general hopes and aspirations revealed themselves, as well as how well he functioned as part of a system. This extended to how he manifested his creativity against the background of the community.
planet dominants:
Neptune
Venus
Saturn
He was of a contemplative nature, particularly receptive to ambiances, places, and people. He gladly cultivated the art of letting go, and allowed the natural unfolding of events to construct his world. He followed his inspirations, for better or for worse. He was romantic, attractive and valued beauty, has an artistic instinct, and was sociable. He had an easy ability to create close personal relationships, for better or worse, and to form business partnerships. He believed in the fact that lessons in life were sometimes harsh, that structure and foundation was a great issue in his life, and he had to be taught through through experience what he needed in order to grow. He paid attention to limitations he had and had to learn the rules of the game in this physical reality. He tended to have a practical, prudent outlook. He also likely held rigid beliefs.
sign dominants:
Taurus
Gemini
Cancer
His stubbornness and determination kept him around for the long haul on any project or endeavour. He was incredibly patient, singular in his pursuit of goals, and determined to attain what he wanted. Although he lacked versatility, he compensated for it by enduring whatever he had to in order to get what he wanted. He ventured out to see what else was there and seized upon new ideas that expanded his community. His innate curiosity kept him on the move. He used his rational, intellectual mind to explore and understand his personal world. He needed to answer the single burning question in his mind: why? This applied to most facets of his life, from the personal to the impersonal. This need to know sent his off to foreign countries, where his need to explore other cultures and traditions ranked high. He was changeable and often moody. This meant that he was often at odds with himself—the mind demanding one thing, the heart demanding the opposite. To someone else, this internal conflict often manifested as two very different people. At first meeting, he seemed enigmatic, elusive. He needed roots, a place or even a state of mind that he could call his own. He needed a safe harbor, a refuge in which to retreat for solitude. He was generally gentle and kind, unless he was hurt. Then he could become vindictive and sharp-spoken. He was affectionate, passionate, and even possessive at times. He was intuitive and was perhaps even psychic. Experience flowed through him emotionally. He was often moody and always changeable; his interests and social circles shifted constantly. He was emotion distilled into its purest form.
Read more about him under the cut:
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, to Rose Kennedy (née Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald) and Joseph P. Kennedy. John was named after his maternal grandfather, John "HoneyFitz" Fitzgerald, the mayor of Boston. John was very ill as a child and was given the last rites five times, the first one being when he was a new-born. He was the second of four boys born to an Irish Catholic family with nine children: Joseph Jr., John, Robert F. Kennedy (called Bobby), and Ted Kennedy (born Edward). Because Rose made Joe and Jack (the name his family called him) wear matching clothes, they fought a lot for attention. When John was young, the family moved from Boston to New York. John went to Choate, a private school. Most of the time, though, he was too sick to attend. In the late 1930s, father Joe became the ambassador to England. He took sons John and Robert with him, as well as his wife and daughters Kathleen and Rosemary Kennedy. John went to Princeton, then Harvard, and for his senior thesis, he wrote a piece about why England refused to get into the war until late. It was published in 1940 and called "Why England Slept". His older brother Joe was a pilot during the war, and was killed when the bombs his plane was carrying exploded. Not long after that, John's sister Kathleen and her husband died in a plane crash. In the early 1950s, John ran for Congress in Massachusetts and won. He married Jacqueline Kennedy (née Jacqueline Lee Bouvier) on September 12, 1953. Their daughter, Caroline Kennedy, was born on November 27, 1957 and their son, John Kennedy Jr., was born on November 25, 1960. They also had a stillborn daughter named Arabella and a son named Patrick Bouvier, who died a few days after birth. In 1954, J.F.K. had to have back surgery and in the hospital wrote his second book, "Profiles in Courage". His father always said that his son Joe was going to be President of the U.S.; when he died in World War II, though, that task was passed on to John. He ran for president in 1960 against Richard Nixon and narrowly won. His administration had many conflicts, the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis being key examples. In November 1963, he and Jackie (his wife's nickname) went on a trip to Texas. Everywhere they went there were signs saying "Jack and Jackie." On November 22, 1963, John was to give a speech in Dallas, but on his way an assassin hidden on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository opened fire at Kennedy, who was riding in an open car. Hit twice and severely wounded, Kennedy died in a local hospital at 1:00 P.M. The alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was captured a short time later after shooting and killing a Dallas policeman, and was himself assassinated before he could be thoroughly interrogated, let alone tried. In just a little bit of irony, considering the death of Abraham Lincoln a century earlier, Kennedy was shot in a Ford Lincoln (Lincoln was in Ford's Theater when he was shot). He was laid to rest on his son's third birthday. (x)

Patreon update pending... (and also; happy Lunar New Year, and welcoming of Black History Month!)
I’ve not accessed my Patreon in forever since my frequent months-long mental health breaks - SO... since I’m back on the plinko horse riding into cringe streamer hell, i Do wanna revisit Patreon and give it some much-needed love, tidying up, perks, so on.
I don’t think any of yall are able to do any Patreon anything?? which is completely ok!! but i do wanna tend to the lil garden i left neglected on there :p so that you or whoever will know it’ll always be there in case you feel like tossing a few coins my way ;x
I’m switching the darn thing to $1/mo first and foremost. but other plans I have are gonna stay in the works / on the drawing board for now !! (pun intended hehehe) and the same goes for Kofi, too!
THAT being said I hope everyone has been doing alright, and staying healthy. Shit’s been shits, and thats FAR beyond an understatement. If you’re wondering about my silence, it is genuinely because the state of the world and my life has had me so busy and so freaked out... but I’m feeling much better as of late, hence... this and my recent activity >v>
I wanted to try and clean up the negativity on my board, here. I want to wish you all a wonderful new year, solar and lunar but mostly Lunar cause it’s so recent... and we’re now back in black history month; a month of supporting black creativity, learning from our history and from ourselves, and doing our best to make and support positive change. I’m just some white voice in a sea of blue hellposts but I always want to do my best to uplift others where I can, and use my voice’s leverage to make way for others.
We’ve lost a lot of people. A lot of friends, and family, and pieces of ourselves. However, society is recovering, and doing so in a blaze of fury and pride, self love and self worth. We may not get every change we need, but we may get something done, and soon. Never give up on your hope. If you still hold the hope of a better future within you, if you do all you’re able to do to see that through to fruition and nurture your fire, I will always be proud of you. Never forget that.
#intercom#its been a long. Long while since ive talked about anything Real on here#i didnt wanna give the sense that i stopped caring#i never stopped caring and i never will#if you missed my positivity. know that i do too.#i wanna bring that back#so here's step one to doing so#the patreon thing was really just my icebreaker kfjgkfj
