The Morality of a Paperboy

I was thinking about Rupert Hine while listening to his theme for Savage Steve Holland's Better Off Dead, when my thoughts drifted to the movie itself.

And I only just realized that I had the star of the movie wrong because despite appearances to the contrary, it isn't Lane Meyer (John Cusack) but a character known only as 'Paperboy (who according to IMDB was played by two actors, Joey Tushnet and Sabastian Dungan)' because he understood that sometimes it's the principal that counts, represented by his dogged determination to get the $2 he was owed.

And sure, it likely cost more in terms of time and engineering to attach skis to a bicycle than it would have to forget about the money, but like I said, it's a matter of principal and sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Explanation: An intriguing pair of interacting galaxies, M51 is the 51st entry in Charles Messier's famous catalog. Perhaps the original spiral nebula, the large galaxy with whirlpool-like spiral structure seen nearly face-on is also cataloged as NGC 5194. Its spiral arms and dust lanes sweep in front of a companion galaxy (right), NGC 5195. Some 31 million light-years distant, within the boundaries of the well-trained constellation Canes Venatici, M51 looks faint and fuzzy to the eye in direct telescopic views. But this remarkably deep image shows off stunning details of the galaxy pair's striking colors and extensive tidal debris. A collaboration of astro-imagers using telescopes on planet Earth combined over 10 days of exposure time to create this definitive galaxy portrait of M51. The image includes 118 hours of narrowband data that also reveals a vast glowing cloud of reddish ionized hydrogen gas discovered in the M51 system.

Just going down memory lane, I was thinking about Tom rushing out of Seth Meyers (in his interview clothes) to go surprise his lady in Rome. Like, that is so, so 🥺. The debut of Mr. Worldwide. Anyway, I was just trying to imagine how I’d react if someone did that for me. That she was able to go to work the next morning is impressive.

something that they have really shown is that they value the time they spend together, even if it is for just a few days or hours and it is something really so beautiful and so exciting that someone gives you their time🥺 because I think that many times we forget how valuable time is and that once you lose it, it cannot be recovered😔

So for the word I think Bella wants for Edward, my serious guess is ‘soulmate’ because the purple prose fits.

My not-so-serious suggestion is something along the lines of the necromancer-cavalier relationship as seen in The Locked Tomb. The question is, who is the cavalier and who is the adept? Meyer’s gender roles suggest that Edward would be the cavalier, but in canon, it’s usually Bella who is doing the ‘fighting’—sacrificing herself to James so he doesn’t get hurt, running to Volterra to place herself and her father in incredible danger when she was so sure he didn’t love her back, acting as the shield in Breaking Dawn—for him. In fact, the moments in which Bella is at her most active is when she’s acting on Edward’s behalf. The one time Edward is really allowed to fight for her against Victoria, Bella gets involved and cuts herself to distract her!

But I am so disgusted at considering Edward to be an adept lol. I’m sorry, I just refuse to give this man any credit. WAIT. He would totally be from the Eighth House so he could try to be as saintly as Carlisle. (Note: I do not think Carlisle is nearly as saintly as Edward thinks he is, and in fact if you asked Carlisle I think he would think that is a bonkers interpretation of him.)

b) we love a good locked tomb question!! we agree with you that we don't see the necromancer/cavalier dynamic translating particularly well onto edbella. edward definitely thinks he's the cavalier, but we think they're adept4adept (see: bella's Lois Lane comment/her rescuing him in italy and in the victoria fight you mentioned.) we think this is part of why we don't particularly ship them! this ask caused us to realize that most of our ships slot perfectly into the necromancer/cavalier Dynamic
