BamBam’s Dad and "Ghosts" meaning

I was looking at BamBam’s new highlight medley, and I rewatched it a couple of times, and in the “Ghost” segment it occurred to me that the figure his animated self sees when he wakes up is, his father's.

I thought back to the photo with his dad and I noticed the glasses and overall outfit (style), and I believe it’s safe to assume the “empty” figure represents his dad.

When BamBam runs after the figure and tries to catch up with it, and when he finally does, the figure disappears. Often times I find that when people speak of loved ones who died when they were very young, they often say how they can’t actually remember their faces or what they sounded like (there’s not much familiarity in that regard). So, maybe that’s why the figure is invisible (besides the pants, shoes, and glasses).

I also think back to the animated movie "Onward" starring Tom Holland, and I can't help but liken it (the "Ghost" segment) to the movie and how the two protagonists can only see the dad's legs and shoes and nothing else. The overall theme of "Onward" is about the protagonists trying to resurrect their dad, and actually meet him and hang out with him (even if it's just for one day). And maybe BamBam wishes he had that opportunity. Wistful thinking.

Another aspect to note is that in Thai folklore and culture, ghosts can be a pretty big deal. Therefore, when looking at the "Ghosts" segment in BamBam's highlight medley ("Sour and Sweet"), BamBam wakes up in a forest. It is said that ghosts may frequent forests and certain trees. But that's all I'm really familiar with, I haven't particularly delved deep into that part of Thai/Buddhist culture.

Overall, I think the "Ghosts" segment holds a lot of meaning, and I believe that there are a lot of details to note and pay attention to. And it's heartwrenching to know that BamBam wants to commemorate his dad and still wishes he could've stayed with him longer. He may have forgotten his father's sent, voice, and the way he laughed, and it's all empty; the memory of his father. So, this segment is heartfelt, especially since my father is deceased too.
