"Baby, me and Arvo want to go shopping" you say to your husband and you dress up your little boy. You had him in a little racing jacket that Fernando's Kimoa line had made for him.
"Mmmmm!" he nods, watching the football on the TV not having actually taken in what you said.
"Hunny, I said we are going shopping!" you smile, patting at his arm a little to grab his attention more.
"Oh! I'll grab the keys then!" he nods turning the TV off and going to the kitchen counter. He grabs the keys to his car, before grabbing the snack bag.
He pulls you into a soft kiss before jogging down to the steps.
He goes to the car before you and your son Arvo setting up for the pair of you. He adds your blanket that he always kept in the boot of the car to the front seat and another one in the back by the car seat for your son.
He brings forward the water bottles and then puts the bag of snacks he grabbed in the footwell.
"Come on Arvo" you ask nicely as the toddler kicks at his shoes that he didn't want to put on.
"Mummy will buy you some new dinosaurs, yeah?" you ask looking down at him and he nods letting you slip the trainer on. You help him into it them and he grabs your hand. You walk to the garage opening the back door of the car, lifting him up into his car seat.
"Which Dinosaur will you get today?" you ask as you start to loop his arms through the double cross seat belt.
"Biggg Grrrrr" he says making some hand gestures that didn't look like anythi ng specific, just waving them around.
"Gonna get a scary one yeah. We'll have to make room on your shelf or daddy will have to put a new one in!" you smile as you finally buckle him up.
"I want cars too" he asks looking at you and you nod before kissing his forehead.
You jog round the front of the car, lifting the blanket up before sliding in and putting the blanket over you before crossing your seatbelt over and clicking it in place.
"Lets go!" you smile. You wrap the blanket tighter around you, Kimi's hand goes under the blanket just to place it gently on your thigh. He drives round the streets with one hand on the wheel and another on your leg.
You sip on your drink making light conversation with both Kimi and Arvo. Asking them what they had in mind for today, Arvo asking to go for ice-cream and the park. Kimi quietly asked if you could go to a sports bar to watch the race that started at 5pm.
You really wanted to go into Reiss to get the new x Mclaren line. You'd been a Mclaren fan, even when you first met Kimi you were a Mclaren fan, and you worked with them when you were younger as a PR manager before you met Kimi.
You guys went to the shopping center, Kimi and Arvo walked around watching as you picked stuff out that you wanted. Kimi held onto every bag you had from every store while you held hands with Arvo, he of course was a mummy's boy.
After lots of shopping, you and Kimi it would be best to tire Arvo out as much as possible before you went to the sports bar so he could sleep well.
When you pull up to the park, you'd grabbed the back of snacks, while Kimi took your son out letting him down softly onto the gravel. He opens the boot grabbing the blanket, football and emergency bag to take with him.
You take a walk around the lake that centered the park, Arvo was fascinated by the wildlife around him. He watched as the swans gilded through the water and when Kimi held him close enough to the water screeched in delight when his sight caught onto the large fish in there.
Halfway on the walk, Arvo had seen a bright pink ice-cream stand that immediately drew his interest in. He tried to run ahead of you and Kimi, but his father was quick to scoop him up onto his shoulder and hold him up there as you all went to get the frozen dessert.
You found a place to lay the blanket down and enjoy your ice-cream while it was still cold and un-melted.
Luckily Kimi had brought wipes with him, which with a toddler with a messy eating style was widely worth it and you both wiped around his chocolatey mouth getting rid it all.
The afternoon was spent you lounging around on the blanket reading a book Kimi had made sure to pack for you while he played football with your son. You sometimes gazed up looking at the pair, both flushed from the activeness of what they were doing.
As it started to get colder Kimi could tell you were starting to feel it and your son was getting sleepy. You decided to make the walk back to the park entrance. Kimi once again taking your son on his shoulders bouncing him every now and then making a small yet tired giggle reply.
You strapped him in the car while Kimi packed away, you tucked your boy under a blanket giving him his Dino teddy he so conveniently named Lando after his favorite driver.
You came in meeting Kimi at the same time both setting up for the drive to the bar, Arvo sleeping the whole way and being such a good boy. He was never a problem for you or Kimi, it really made you both want to try for another.
As you got to the bar, you and Kimi quietly woke up Arvo who had a newfound energy from his power nap in the back of the car able to watch the race.
He loved F1, and even though he was a little too young for karting rn, Kimi desperately wanted to coach his son. You all watched on, Arvo getting excited whenever the orange cars came up on screen.
Some people in the bar as per usual recognized you guys, however all remained respectful just happy to be watching a race with and F1 icon.
After the night was all wrapped up with a Redbull win and a double Mclaren podium that made you very very happy, Kimi drove you all home. Exhausted from the day both you and your son had fallen asleep on the car ride home.
And Kimi, he couldn't be happier with his life and his passenger princess and prince.

Bad for Business
Jenna Ortega X Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
(picture not mine)
Summary: After receiving a text message from her manager, what would Jenna do? Will she and Y/N can still fix their friendship?
Warning/s: curse words.
A/N: Part 3, thanks for waiting, noticed you liked this one. Emma Myers is the Emma. Also, give me a name for Y/N's best friend, please.
Masterlist
Cool About It (Part 1) | Nothing To Lose (Part 2)
______________________________________________________________
Jenna is currently sitting on the sofa on her manager's office.
"What is your problem Jenna? You have invited a big crowd and thank heavens we don't need to delete much picture from the both of you because they were so surprised from what you did. We only have a few twitter and tiktok accounts that still post what happened." Jenna's manager told her as he seats in front of the girl.
"I'm sorry..."
The only words that came out from Jenna's mouth ever since she was brought by her manager from Y/N's unit to the office, because inside her head, she goes back to the moment where Y/N admitted her feelings. She could've react differently instead of being silent, she could've agreed to Y/N and talk to her, or maybe she can kiss Y/N to prove that she also wants to kiss the girl, or maybe just maybe, she doesn't pull the shit from the park and just watched a movie.
There are so many 'what if's' and 'could've been' that's running inside Jenna's mind not until the voice of her manager removed her from her thoughts.
"Do you understand? We just need you to follow what we said and we will be alright" Jenna's manager said and looked at her intently, looking like he will never take a no for an answer.
Jenna then just nodded her head and quietly said "yes."
Jenna's team was now fixing the table and the papers that were scattered on the table not until Jenna broke the chaos "Please don't contact Y/N anymore. I don't need you in her business." She said and looked intently to her team, and directed it to her manager.
A long pause was given, half-heartedly, her manager nodded. That made Jenna feal at ease somehow, because she doesn't want Y/N to get stress about this issue, it is all her fault anyway.
Even though Jenna doesn't quite remember what are the rules that her manager and her team gave her, she just go with it, because it's normally lesser public appearance, lesser use of her social media, and sadly, lesser meet-ups with Y/N. She thinks she can handle it, because in a few week, she'll be back to filming Wednesday S2 and just will be facetiming Y/N. If Y/N will answer, she thinks.
---
Jenna was now in her bedroom, tired after the long night that she had. Fumbling with her phone, thinking if she should text Y/N and ask her about what happened, Jenna was pulled out from her thoughts by a facetime call, it is Emma.
"I WAS RIGHT" Emma said, "I WAS RIGHT YOU LIED TO ME, HOW COULD YOU?"
Jenna was stunned because what the fuck is Emma talking about, she have no idea, "What are you talking about?" Jenna asked with full curiosity.
"You and your long time friend who owns the coffee shop inside the studio is dating!" Emma exclaimed like stating the truth, Jenna then replied "No, no, what do you mean?"
"Like bestie, your proposal in the lake is all over the internet right now, I should congratulate you, or not I guess" Emma stated as she started to send screenshots to Jenna from twitter to tiktok. Jenna then shakes her head "No, this can't be, my team deleted all the pictures and articles about this." Jenna was slightly panicking because she thought that her team have deleted any pictures and articles from the proposal.
"I'll call you later I promise, bye" Jenna ended the call without giving Emma a chance to reply and reactivated her twitter account just to see what Emma is talking about, and the other girl was right, the both of you are trending.
In her search list, the words that was associated to the both of you are I knew it, dumbass, and Her loss.
She saw tweets like stating that they knew it from the start that Jenna and Y/N was in a relationship, another tweet said that Y/N was dumb to reject Jenna, and some were begging Jenna that if she proposed to them they will say 'yes'. But Jenna thought, they are not Y/N, they are not the person that she likes.
After opening Twitter, she went straight to tiktok and search her name, which is probably not the right thing to do but she wants to see what people say to you, the last thing that she wants is for the general public to hate you and blame you.
And with that, almost all of the videos of Jenna and Y/N are edited with the song Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift. Captions in the videos are quoting the lyrics from "You won't remember all her Champagne Problems" to "I can patch up the tapestry that she shred." She also saw some comments in the video saying "she's fucked in the head" pertaining to Y/N.
That broke her, why are you getting all the hate if it is all her fault? You don't deserve this madness that she brought to your life because all you did was to bring her sunshine and be the silver lining to every dark cloud that she had. You were right, she thought.
Jenna then calls her manager and he answered fast "I thought you all deleted the pictures and the news? What happened now?" Jenna said full in rage, angry for what the public is labeling you as, "I thought you agreed?" Her manager replied "We would not delete the pictures and the news, but we would let it grow, we can handle it anyways, we just need to get Y/N out of the picture and make sure that she will not be part of any narrative. That woman is bad for business Jenna, we're telling you."
That stunned Jenna, all the time that they were talking inside the office she was so occupied with thoughts of you that she fucking agreed with this shit where you are scrutinized. Jenna then starts to cry and ended the call. What she did next will probably make her manager more angry with her.
She went out of her bedroom, grab her coat, grab her keys, ride her car, and drove to your apartment.
---
Currently in your apartment, you are with you best friend trying to read all the shit that was thrown into you in the internet. You told her the whole story and she thought that was a shit move for Jenna, because not only her manager hated you, but now, almost all of the people in the world hated you.
"I told you Y/N it was a bad idea to go that day didn't I?" your best friend told you proving a point but you can't even focus on her voice because you were so drowned out with your own thoughts that was coming in like a flood.
Your best friend kept on talking and talking until they noticed that you were just spacing out and sat next to you and pulled you in a hug which you gladly melt in to, "I'm sorry this is happening, I didn't mean to blame you, but your friend is fucking shit."
A knock to your door was heard which your best friend gladly attend to. Opening the door they were so stunned for seeing who is in the other side, Jenna.
"What do you need?" your best friend tells Jenna, which she answered "I need to talk to Y/N please." Your best friend just looked at Jenna not until your voice was heard from the inside telling that Jenna should come in.
"You have the guts to show up here, make this right." Your best friend threatens Jenna and left the apartment leaving you and Jenna alone.
"I'm sorry" Jenna started, looking at your back. You tap the empty space beside you and that is where Jenna is walking to, seating beside you.
"I wanna blame you for everything Jenna." Y/N blurted out, not facing Jenna, "I wanna blame you for everything that is happening right now." Y/N lets out a heavy sigh.
Jenna answered "I know, I know, and I'm sorry, I should be the one who gets to be blamed, I don't know what to say, I'm really just sorry and I wanted to tell that you were right." Jenna is now trying to stop the tears from falling while she looks at you, "Y/N please, look at me, just tell me what to do for you to forgive me, I'll do it, please" Jenna begs.
Y/N looked at Jenna with so much pain in her eyes, "be gone."
Seconds have passed, Jenna was too stunned to even speak, still processing what you said.
"No, Y/N please no, this can't be" Jenna said, "This was what your manager wanted in the first place, he wanted me out of the picture ever since you blow up. I don't fucking blame him for that because who am I, right? But this is not the way I imagined it" Y/N looked so defeated in Jenna's eyes. Y/N was willing to give up their friendship, even if it's not what she wants.
"No, that's not gonna happen Y/N, you are my best friend and I can't just leave you hanging, getting all the scrutiny from the media, from the public. This is entirely my fault, please, don't ask me to leave." Jenna plead, because that was the last thing that Jenna wats to do, to leave you.
"Jenna we can't be friends okay, don't you understand? You leaving me would benefit the both of us; it will benefit you since there will be one less problem to your management and it will benefit me because it can possibly help me to move on from you." Y/N said with a sad smile.
"Move on? The hell are you saying? There will be no moving on for you because..." Jenna said, making Y/N confused "because I like you too. I like you too, just like how you like me Y/N."
Y/N laughed "Stop with the pity Jenna, I know you are sorry but you don't need to tell me that you like me to give me a proper closure."
"No, but I'm not lying Y/N, I swear to God, I like you too and I'm just too scared to admit it to myself because I got so scared for what will happen to me, to us, to our friendship." Jenna said, trying to convince Y/N, but Y/N won't budge and just shakes her head.
"Jenna it's okay, you don't need to lie, I understand" Y/N said standing up from the sofa.
"But you don't understand Y/N, I like you, for real, without a doubt. Even before this shit happened, even before that dinner in our house, that night stroll in K-town, the first picture of us from the public, even before my manager knew you; I liked you since then" Jenna said standing up and getting a hold of your hand.
Y/N started to shake her head and retracted her hands from Jenna's hold "This can't be Jenna" Jenna then answered "How can you not believe that I like you Y/N."
"Because I'm just me Jenna, I'm just me and you're you. I mean, you can find someone who's better than me and who will be good for your name, but I'm just me Jenna" Y/N explained.
"But that's it Y/N, I like you because you are you, and I wouldn't want to like anyone because they are not you," Jenna said and continued "Please just tell me what can I do, please."
Y/N sat on the far side of the sofa, her mind twirling with the words that came out from Jenna's mouth. She's very glad that Jenna likes her back, but the damage was done, the media hates her, Jenna's manager hates her, and the public hates her. But most importantly, Jenna hurt her.
"I honestly don't know Jenna" Y/N confessed "You hurt me, and I don't know what to do. The public also despise me, and your manager hates me."
Jenna then kneels beside Y/N and said "I know, I know. I'm gonna tell you how sorry I am and I will apologize until you forgive me but I also know that it isn't enough for you to forgive me. The damage is big and let me just think of a way to handle it. As for my manager, let me just think again." and chuckled looking at you.
Y/N knows to herself that a simple apology from Jenna will make all the pain go away, but this is different, Jenna really hurts Y/N's feelings.
Y/N gave a sad smile to Jenna which Jenna gave back, she rested her head at Y/N's thigh and dropped a light kiss on her knees. Y/N tried to relax in the seat and puts her hand on Jenna's hair and caress it that makes the other girl relax too.
Minutes of silence have passed until Jenna bounced between Y/N's thighs and opened her camera.
"What are you doing?" Y/N asked Jenna and the other girl answered "I'm gonna do something. You just need to stay still, okay?"
Jenna puts her phone down, directed to your indoor slippers since the both of you decided to buy a matching indoor slippers because "it's cute", and captures it.
It surprised Y/N "Okay, what the fuck was that for?" Jenna then answered Y/N "Since my management is not dropping any statement and I didn't sign any contract to get you out of my life, I will be the one to make an announcement."
Y/N questionably looked at Jenna, not sure on what Jenna will do with the picture, not until Y/N saw Jenna opened her Instagram account.
"Jenna, NO." Y/N said while trying to get Jenna's phone, but Jenna knows that Y/N will gonna do so Jenna pushed Y/N away from her and starts to type.
Y/N then surrender, both of her hands up in the air and said "Okay, I'm not gonna get your phone, but please just tell me what you're doing."
Jenna then situated her phone between the both of them and made Y/N read what she typed.
With a surprised look Y/N said "Are you fucking insane? Are you sure? What the hell are you thinking?"
"Please trust me on this." Jenna said with a smile and Y/N just nodded and answered "This doesn't mean I forgive you" and Jenna bring her phone down and looked at Y/N directly and said "I know, I will do my best to earn your forgiveness and trust me back, I just hope you still love me then."
And that made you smile, because you know in your heart, you will always love Jenna, "I will promise to love you" Y/N answered with a small smile.

FRIENDSHIP BRACELET [S] !
Tumblr media
platonic[?] kurona, ness, niko x reader
summary ... little blurbs on how your best friends react to you giving them friendship bracelets!
an ... this is a re-edited work I had on my last account and I wanted to post it again because I thought it was cute!
Tumblr media
RANZE KURONA
sooo all I know about his man is he’s somewhat quiet and says few words [I promise I'll read the manga soon..]
you and him have been friends for a long time! :D
you have never had a problem with him being quiet
just like he never had a problem with you being more outgoing
he lets you talk his ear off :)
BUT WE'RE HERE FOR THE BRACELET !
you have been walking around a small store and stumbled across a couple of matching friendship bracelets
and your first thought was
’ I should get one for kurona! :O ’
and you did, he was thrilled! <3
you wanted some new jewelry for yourself and decided to hop into a new tiny shop that was in your city
it looks more like a cafe than a jewelry shop with its bright pastel colors and plants in front of the windows- but who were you to judge?
walking into the small shop and hearing the bell ring above your head and a small “hello!” from the cashier, which you replied back and made your way through the shop to see anything that would catch your interest
and what would you know! something did!
it was a line of bracelets in small boxes and pictures above them, showing a much better view of what was inside
they were interesting…. just nothing creative and to your taste but still pretty to look at nonetheless!
wait you take your words back
there it was! the best friendship bracelet anyone could buy their shark-teeth friend! he was gonna love this!
Tumblr media
kurona was waiting for you to pick him up from practice
he was tired from all the running.. he couldn’t wait to get home with you and watch a new show you wanted to show him
he finally saw your car parking and saw you getting out with something in your hands
he was curious
what were you holding? was it for you? or him? he wanted to know
“rannn! look what I found it’s so cute! you’re gonna love it!” your excited voice had brought him comfort from the long day
running up to him with a bright smile handing him the same box he was curious about..
when you held out the box to him, he got to see your wrist and saw a new pretty bracelet
it was thick silver with little blue shark outlines engraved into it and a small light blue shark magnet to connect to something- wait..
“this is for you! I really hope you like it!”
it was for him!
and he loved it very much, so much that he hid his face with his jacket sleeve hiding the small pink blush on his cheeks..
Tumblr media
ALEXIS NESS
you and him shared a friendship through kaiser but this ain't about him
ness was very surprised!
he loved it soo much! it made him feel special :>
little pookie blushed at the kind gesture !!
you and ness had a small date, it was a friend date nothing more and somehow kaiser wasn’t there, which surprised you but you thanked the soccer ball heavens for it..
you had the small box with the bracelet inside, you already gave one to kaiser and wanted to give ness his
seeing the magenta-haired male sitting on a park bench in front of a lake
you sped up your walk to get over to him, sitting down next to him and turning your body towards him, giving a shy smile
“here you go alex! I hope you like it!” you cheerfully stated
“hm?” he hummed, putting away his phone and reaching for the box you were handing him
he saw a new bracelet on your wrist, it looked lovely!
“oh! that is a very beautiful bracelet!” ness exclaimed
your cheeks heated up and his words and he let out a small giggle and his little ‘v’ smile
putting the box you gave him into his pocket to look at later, he kept asking you about your bracelet and saying how lovely it looked
“alexxx! you were gonna get the same one! but you put it away!” you huffed and puffed out your cheeks
“huh? oh!” he quickly took out the small box and started to carefully open it
pulling out a matching bracelet, his eyes lit up at the sight of it!
“did-” “yes kaiser got one too! just admire your own one!”
he chuckled and did as you said
looking at the bracelet more carefully he saw small writing on the inside of the bracelet
’[name] and kaiser love you very much ♡’
his face heated up very quickly and he hid his face from you, mumbling his 'thank you' to you

IKKI NIKO
niko was a bit embarrassed when you first gave it to him
but was very appreciative !
making sure it was always in sight for others, and you and him to see
niko was happy to call you his friend
he was happy to have you around, always praising him for small things and making him smile or laugh with your dumb jokes
he was waiting for you to come back to your shared apartment with him
you were running late and weren’t answering your phone
he was getting worried but all the worry washed away when he heard the front door open and lord and behold you were there
standing out of breath like you ran a marathon, you looked up and ran to niko with stars in your eyes
“sorry! sorry! I wanted to give you something on our friendship marriage anniversary!” you happily said
“huh? marriage?… were not even married” niko huffed out
“we are- platonically- we are, yes” you said
he lightly smiled and then turned his attention to the box you were holding and a bracelet he never saw you wear before
“huh? whats that?” he pointed at the box then at the bracelet
“oh! this is your gift!”
“my gift?….aw, I didn’t get you anything! that’s not fair ..” he frowned
“it’s fine I don’t care! just look at this!” you pushed the box you were holding into nikos hand
it was a beautiful blue bracelet that matched the color of his eyes
picking up the bracelet and putting it around his wrist he lifted his arm up to show you
“i like it very much, it’s beautiful” he mumbled with a light blush coating his face
“im happy you like it!”
“yeah yeah… c'mon let’s watch something”

The months practically fly by after Dean receives his hearing aid. As part of his therapy, he creates a list of things he wants to do now that he’s back in the States, some of which you’ve never done together. One by one, you check things off the list. You spend sunsets—and a few sunrises—snuggled up on the beach by the lake, and when the fall hits, you and Dean are able to get away for a few weekends for hikes in a nearby state park. It’s on those nights at the lake and in the cabins you rent at the parks that Dean talks to you more about his tour. He can’t tell you all the details, especially since Sam is still advising you on whether or not to sue for everything you’d been put through, but he talks to you about his life in the village. Sometimes you lay together in bed as he talks, and other times you sit facing him so you can read his expressions. Sometimes he cries. You do too. It’s cathartic for both of you.
When winter descends on the South, you take him to Atlanta for some of the Christmas festivities. You go to a concert, go on a fancy date at an even fancier restaurant, and walk hand in hand while you look at Christmas lights. His family drives down for the holidays, and you put them up in a few of the empty staff cabins. Mary tells you one morning while you’re watching the sun rise over the lake that she understands why you’d want to stay at New Moon. It’s one of the best Christmas gifts you get.
Dean surprises you with trips to the zoo, aquarium, and museums. He takes you shopping, compliments you with every new thing you tried on, and he carries your bags. He cooks you elaborate meals and brings you picnic lunches. You’re pretty sure that he and Meg text because he always seems to show up for lunch on the days where you need his company the most.
Life is sublime, even on the rough nights when you sleep very little. Dean’s nightmares wake you up on occasion, but you don’t mind. He shows you his love in a thousand little ways, and lying with him and comforting him is one of the few ways that you do the same. You both lay on your sides, facing each other, and you murmur reassurances in the dim light from the bedside lamp. You’ve gotten used to sleeping with it on, especially now since you found out that the darkness is something that worsens his PTSD.
Some nights, you stay up late worrying about the girls. Others you spend sitting up with them or talking with them when they need support, or intervention. Oftentimes, on those nights, you walk back to your cottage in the dark, following the path with just an old plastic flashlight to guide you. Your phone is usually dead and you’re always bone-tired, but without fail, you open the door to find Dean waiting up for you on the couch. He has the TV playing low in the background, and if you haven’t eaten dinner, he has a plate of food ready to be reheated for you. He listens when he can, too. You tell him whatever isn’t confidential, and he listens in silence with a hand on your leg as you curl up to him on the couch, or he holds you close as you lay together in bed, just like when you listen to him talk about his time overseas.
It’s on one of these nights in early March when you’re curled up together, sometime just past midnight, that you realize you’ve been home late almost every day this week and that Dean had been alone almost all day, every day. Your thoughts roam back to the first dinner you’d had with his family since his return. He’d thrived in the living room bustling with people he loved, and he’d lit up any time he’d interacted with his niece and nephew. You haven’t seen that exact look on his face since.
“Dean?” you murmur. He doesn’t answer right away, but he keeps stroking your hair, so you carefully turn your head on his thigh to look up at him. He took his hearing aid out an hour ago, which meant he probably just hasn’t heard you.
“You need something, sweetheart?” he asks, looking down at you.
“Do you… Do you still want kids? We haven’t talked about it since you got back, but before your deployment…”
He hums thoughtfully and sits up a little more on the sofa. You sit up when he moves, pulling your legs in and propping yourself up with one arm on the top of the back cushions. He keeps looking at the TV, but you can tell that he really isn’t watching it. The show is something pedantic—a black-and-white sitcom from the 60s that only comes on during late-night television. It’s one of a few that are on rotation during your late night talks, and you know enough from the subtitles that you’ve seen this episode at least three times.
“Did you hear me?” you ask, reaching out to gently touch his arm with your fingertips.
Dean nods. His eyes still stay focused forward. “I heard you. I’m just… thinking.” He turns to look at you after a second. The furrow between his eyebrows is pronounced, and his lips purse ever so slightly as he searches your face. “Why? Are you—?” He glances down at your stomach, just for a split second.
Quickly, you shake your head and scoot closer on the couch so that your calf is pressed up against the side of his thigh. You reach out and grab both of his hands in yours. He turns slightly more towards you, and his thumb drifts over your knuckles as you answer,
“No. No, I’m not pregnant. I just…” You trail off and look down at your joined hands, trying to put thoughts to your words. Finally, you sigh and look back up at him, squeezing his hands. “When we were at your parents’ house, with Sam and Jess and their kids, you seemed really happy.”
“Those little guys are awesome,” Dean replies, chuckling lightly. The worried crinkle between his eyebrows relaxes at the memory. “I had no idea how much I’d really missed them until we got there. The videos you’d shown me on your phone weren’t nearly as good as the real thing.”
“It wasn’t just that. It was the way you cuddled and played with Jacob, and the way you held Ella and talked to her. You love them.”
“Of course I love them, Y/N, they’re my niece and nephew.”
His voice is patient as he gives you the reminder, and though you know that he isn’t trying to make you feel bad, you still find yourself searching for the right words to get your point across. You’re exhausted, and your thoughts are already scattered.
Maybe I shouldn’t have even brought it up, you think.
Nonetheless, you nod and squeeze his hands again. “I know. I just… It reminded me of all those conversations we had before you left, you know? And I see the way you look at babies and little kids whenever we’re in town. Anyone could tell that you want a kid of your own.” You pause and shake your head a little. “I don’t know, it’s late. Maybe I’m just thinking too much. If it’s gonna happen, it’ll happen, right? I mean, if that’s what you want.”
Releasing him, you rub your face with one hand and stand from the couch. He looks up at you, watching in silence as you gather your dinner dishes, along with the mug he’d been drinking from when you got home. Your stomach twists as you move, and though you hope he’ll speak up and put you out of your misery by giving you some kind of response, Dean says nothing.
“I should shower,” you tell him. The lights in most of the cottage living area are off already, and the light from the TV casts strange shadows over him and the couch. It’s enough light for you to see Dean already looking away from you, staring at the long wooden coffee table you’d bought from a thrift store shortly after starting at the camp.
As you pass by, however, he scoots forward on the couch and reaches out. His arm blocks your path and his hands rest on your opposite hip, holding you in place. Your heart skips a beat.
“I do want kids,” Dean admits, quieter than before. He holds your gaze. Though the room is dark, the hesitance in his expression is clear.
Has he been thinking about this too?
You shift your weight from one foot to the other, dishes still in hand as you wait for him to continue. He doesn’t, so you set the dishes on the side table to his right and take matters into your own hands.
“Yeah?”
Dean’s shoulders slump and he nods. “Yeah. I didn’t want to bring it up. I’m sorry.”
“Sorry? What for? Why didn’t you want to bring it up?”
Carefully, you lower yourself to sit on his thigh with your back resting against the arm of the couch. You drape your legs over his lap. Dean reaches his arm behind you and holds your hip to help you keep your balance on his legs, and almost immediately his thumb is rubbing small arcs on your side, back and forth at a steady tempo. His other hand rests on your thighs. It’s warm over your legs, and you can feel his body heat even more where your shirt has come untucked, revealing the bare skin on your side where his thumb has found purchase. He’s almost too warm to be this close to him, but you can’t bear to complain, not after so many painful years apart. You rest one arm over his shoulders, and with the other you cup his cheek, turning his face so you can look at him properly.
“I was nervous that you’d changed your mind,” he admits. The low sound of the TV almost drowns him out, so much so that if you were any farther away, you’d be straining to hear him. “It’s been so long since we talked about it, and I wasn’t sure if that was still what you wanted.”
His next words go unspoken: with me. Dean has never expressed it outright, but you know that he still sometimes feels insecure about wearing his hearing aid and his struggle with PTSD from everything that happened overseas. You’ve joined him for several video sessions with his therapist, and you know that they’re working on strategies to deal with both of those things. You try not to interfere or give your opinions on his recovery—he needs a wife and a partner, not a second therapist—but you support him in every way you can without overstepping. You never want him to feel alone because of what he’s been through.
You lean in to kiss him on the cheek opposite your hand, and you smile gently as you say, “I love you, Dean. It’s still what I want, but even if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t change things between us, at least not on my end. You’re still my main man, no matter what. Kids have never been the endgame. It’s always just been you.”
The lines on Dean’s face relax, smoothing out to reveal the faintest smattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose. They’re just starting to reappear now that the winter is fading and he can comfortably spend more time outside. Your stomach untwists as he smiles back at you. He shifts the hand on your hip and squeezes it just a little.
“I love you too, Y/N. No matter what.”
Dean kisses you on the lips, and it’s long, slow, and sweet. He’s warm against you. You’re bone-tired, but you close your eyes and kiss back, soaking up his warmth and the feel of being in his arms after a long day at work. It’s heavenly. You never would have predicted this moment a year ago. If someone had told you that Dean wasn’t dead and that he’d find you at New Moon, and that you’d be having a conversation at one in the morning about having kids, you would’ve thought they were crazy. Now, however, you’re just grateful.
After a few moments, Dean eases his arm under your legs instead of resting it over them, then stands. He carries you to the bedroom and you relax in his arms, keeping your eyes closed for the short walk. When he sets you down on the edge of the bed, you open your eyes to look up at him. You brace your hands on the mattress behind you to keep from toppling backwards as the memory foam dips under your weight.
“I don’t want to stress about this,” you tell him. “I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t help anything. If it happens, it happens.”
He nods in agreement, then yawns. You chuckle and sit up a little more so you can stand without fighting against the mattress. Dean always complains that it’s too soft, but you like the way you can sink into it after a long day.
“Get to bed, soldier,” you order, patting his arm. “You’ve got work in the morning.”
A month ago, Dean had decided he was ready to get back to work. You’d offered to put him on the payroll at camp as a maintenance worker or groundsperson, but he’d opted for an online position, at least for the time being. It’s a dull job compared to his work with the military. Secretly, you’re thankful that he’s chosen a safe route and that he’s feeling well enough to get back to work, but you also worry a little. For as long as you’ve known him, Dean’s been a hands-on type of person. He likes to build and fix and create. His therapy appointments are virtual too, which means that he spends most of the day cooped up in the cottage, sitting at the kitchen table or on the couch in front of a laptop. Not only is it not the healthiest thing for him physically, you know that he pushes himself to work harder than anybody should, simply because the job seems so much easier than what he used to do. Plus, being that he’s home most of the day, he’s taken on most of the cottage upkeep, cooking, and shopping so that you can spend as much time together as possible whenever you are home. You don’t mind that as much, but it does make you feel a little guilty.
“I’ll wait for you to be out of the shower,” he replies, but you shake your head.
“It’s okay. You’ve waited up long enough for me, De. You need to sleep—you’ve been burning the candle at both ends just so you can see me in the morning and at night, and I’m starting to get worried. You were falling asleep during your meeting the other day when I came home for lunch, remember?”
“I’m fine,” he insists.
Sighing, you wrap your arms around his waist, reaching up until your hands press against the middle of his back, between his shoulder blades. Your cheek presses up against his chest and you close your eyes again. He returns your embrace, and after several long moments, you feel his body relax against yours.
I could go to sleep right here, you think with a tiny smile.
“Come on,” you say as you finally pull away, then pat him on the chest with one hand. “Go lay down. I’ll be there in a minute, okay? Get the bed warm for me.”
He nods in agreement, and you step away. You hurry to get your pajamas from the dresser before heading into the bathroom. Dean had changed long before you’d gotten home, as he always did on late nights like these. You need to shower, but you know Dean would force himself to stay up until you’re ready to go to bed too, no matter how much you push him and try to coerce him to take care of himself first. You’re exhausted, too, and the thought of having to shower before you can crash isn’t appealing.
So, you forgo your normal shower and stick with simply washing your face and brushing your teeth after changing into the pajamas. You can shower in the morning, even though it means you’ll need to change the bedding sooner than usual. Though it isn’t quite as hot as it normally is this time of year, the humidity makes everything sticky, and you’ve spent most of the day outside. A thin layer of sweat coats your skin, making even your pajamas feel gross.
When you turn off the light and step out of the bathroom, Dean looks up from the book he’s grabbed from his nightstand. It’s a novel, if you remember correctly, but you’re not sure what about. The cover picture has a cactus on it. It’s probably another western—he’s been catching up on some of his favorite authors since Sam convinced him to get a library card in December.
“You didn’t shower,” he notes, clearing his throat and sitting himself up further against the headboard. He doesn’t fool you, however. You know that he’s been nodding off instead of actually reading the library book. He’s been on the same page the past three nights.
“I’ll shower in the morning,” you reply. You throw your clothes in the hamper against the wall. “I need to change the sheets anyway, so it’s not a big deal.”
Dean hums and sets his book back in its place, then reaches over to pull the covers open for you. You climb into bed and wait until he’s dimmed the lamp beside his nightstand to cuddle up against him. The room grows darker once he does, and your eyes take a second to adjust, but you can still hear Dean’s dog tags clink as he shifts to get into a comfortable position with you at his side. You slip one arm over him, resting your hand on his chest as you close your eyes. To no surprise, it doesn’t take you long to fall asleep.
The next morning, Dean’s asleep when you wake up, which is a rarity. Despite the fact that you’re somehow still exhausted, you know that you need to get up before he does. If you doze until he’s awake too, he’ll want to get up and make you breakfast while you shower, meaning that he won’t get the rest he needs. His PTSD symptoms start rearing their ugly heads whenever he’s overtired, and you don’t want that for him.
Showering without waking Dean would be tricky, but after a few moments of lying in the dark, you find a solution. There’s a small bathroom attached to your personal office in the main camp building, and though you haven’t used it in a while, you know that it’s clean and that it still has your normal soap and shampoo. Before Dean, you spent most of your late nights sleeping on the futon in the office, then showering and dressing in the bathroom, rather than trekking all the way back to your cottage. You hadn’t had a reason to go all the way home back then, but now you do. The shower hasn’t been used in almost a year. This morning, however, it will come in handy.
As silently as possible, you roll out of bed and gather up the few toiletries you’ll need that aren’t already in the office bathroom. You pull on a pair of sweatpants over your pajamas, plus the faded Stanford hoodie you’d gotten in support of Sam shortly after marrying Dean. You grab a bag for the toiletries and a set of work clothes to change into after you shower, then shove your feet into a pair of sandals and slip out of the cottage to head towards the main cluster of buildings.
The sun is barely up. It casts an ethereal glow over the grassy field that separates your cottage from the rest of the camp. Dew dampens the path, and it makes wildflowers and the tips of grass blades glitter in the lingering sunrise. In the trees, birds sing and coo. The soft tap of your feet on the stones is the only other sound.
You pause to breathe in deeply, then exhale. Mornings at New Moon are special to you, especially after a long, stressful night. They remind you of why you stayed—every girl needs the peace and calm that the morning brings. They deserve it. You’ve certainly needed it many times yourself.
“You’re up early.”
You turn, already speaking as you meet Meg’s steady gaze. “I needed to shower, but I didn’t want to wake Dean. He’s been staying up late for me every night.”
She mutters something in acknowledgement, then tucks her phone in her jacket pocket as you close the distance to join her outside the only empty cabin, which she’s been checking for trespassers. It’s on the outskirts of the camp, and the four girls that had occupied it for most of last year transitioned to a more traditional foster home only last month. From what you’ve heard from their social worker, they’re on the path to reunification with their family.
Now that you’re closer, Meg’s giving you a strange, almost curious look, and you frown when she lifts her chin. Her eyes glitter with a secret.
“I’m a little afraid to ask,” you say, “but do you know something I don’t?”
She chuckles and crosses her arms in front of her. Her lips press together in a smug smile. “How are you feeling?” she asks.
Unsure of what she means, you start walking towards the office. Meg falls into step beside you, just as you knew she would.
“Fine, I suppose,” you slowly reply. You’re careful to give vague answers, just in case she’s looking to start a tiff just for her own amusement. “Why?”
She shrugs. “Just wondering.”
A minute of silence passes as you walk together, and the path changes from stone to gravel. It crunches beneath your feet, and all around you, life begins to stir in the cabins as the girls wake and get ready for the day. They’ll be coming outside with their counselors and gathering outside the dining hall within an hour, which means time is running out if you want to shower and have time to mentally prepare for the day.
Meg holds the office door for you and you mutter your thanks, then head down the hall to your personal office. You’re just reaching the door when she calls your name from the lobby.
Turning, you raise your eyebrows expectantly. She stands near the receptionist desk, her hands at her sides, and for a second, a genuine smile flashes across her face. It’s quickly replaced with her usual nonchalant look, however, so quickly that you aren’t entirely sure that you’d seen it. You must be more tired than you’d thought.
“You should take a test,” Meg says.
You frown at her, confused, and set your bag of clothes and toiletries at your feet, against the wall. “A test?”
She nods, widening her eyes as she repeats, “A test, Y/N. You know, the tests you keep in the first aid closet? For those rare, special emergencies?”
For a moment, you just stare at her. There are very few emergencies that you handle at the camp. True, due to the nature of your job, you’re trained in a litany of thing, ranging from first aid and de-escalation to basic animal control and building maintenance, all of which is in addition to your psychology degrees and training, but the rest of the camp staff is so well-trained that rarely do situations ever become actual emergencies that you need to handle.
If you’re handling a first aid emergency, however, you do basic triage before an ambulance can arrive. You keep most of the supplies in your office, both in a cabinet and in a bag, but there are also small first aid kits in all the cabins, as well as in every building and down by the lake.
You shake your head, a little baffled by Meg’s strange behavior and comments. Neither one of you needs any kind of first aid right now, at least not that you’re aware of. Turning, you reach for the doorknob on your office door, but you stop as soon as your fingers graze the metal. It’s as if lightning has struck you, and you immediately straighten, dropping your hand back down to your side as you whirl to face her again.
“What?” you exclaim, shocked at her brazen assumption. “Are you serious?”
She shrugs and leans against the wall opposite the desk, her arms once again crossed. Her stare, as always, is unrelenting, but suddenly it makes your skin itch with anticipation. Does she know something about you that you don’t? You pride yourself on being self-aware, but is it possible that you’ve missed something?
“You’ve been nauseous on and off for almost two weeks now, and you’ve been moody. More than some of the girls, actually,” she huffs.
You narrow your eyes and cross your arms, almost a mirror image of her. “Really? Moody? That’s your argument for this, Meg?”
“Don’t hurry to prove me right,” she teases, and you quickly drop your arms again, heat rising in your cheeks. “You’ve been constantly complaining of being too hot and then too cold all week, too. Didn’t you say that was one of the things your mother-in-law complained about when she was pregnant with Dean?”
It was, and a strange feeling rises inside of you now that you remember the conversation you’d had with Meg about it. How she remembered such a detail from a random discussion you’d had almost months ago is beyond you, but it doesn’t matter. She’s put the thought in your head, and with it comes another reminder—your period hadn’t come last month, and you’ve been due for almost a week now. If it was coming, it would have been here already.
You inhale shakily and give her a terse nod.
“Right,” you say. You smooth your hands over your thighs, trying not to seem so blown away by her hypothesis. “Okay. Okay. I’m—” Shaking your head, you close your eyes and try to focus on the mental to-do list you’ve made for yourself. Then, after a second, you grab your bag from the floor. “I have to shower.”
Meg nods. “Shower,” she repeats.
“I’ll see you later.”
She nods again, then turns on her heel and walks out of the building, leaving you standing in the hallway. You stay still for a second, listening to the front door open and close. Outside, Meg shouts at someone for standing on a bench, but the sound of her voice fades as she gets farther away from the building. Finally, you turn and open the door to your office, then quickly close it behind you.
You close your eyes and press one hand to your stomach, over the sweatshirt. It’s bulky over your pajamas. Logically, you know that if you are pregnant, the baby would still be too small to show, but it feels wrong not to feel for a baby bump now that it’s been suggested.
Not daring to get your hopes up just yet, you let your hand fall as you march to the locked metal cabinet in the corner of your office. It’s mounted to the wall and reaches almost to the ceiling, and the pregnancy tests are at the back of the top shelf. You don’t use them often, considering that New Moon is only for girls, but you keep them on hand just in case you need them for a new arrival. You’ll be lucky if the test is still good, considering you haven’t had to use one in so long.
You dump the bag from your cottage on the desk, then fumble with your keys until you find the right one. The bag falls over and knocks a pen off the desk, but you ignore it as you unlock the cabinet, pull over your rolling desk chair, and carefully climb up on it to grab one of the tests. After checking the expiration date, you tuck the flimsy cardboard box under your arm and head to the bathroom, not even bothering to close the cabinet or right the bag that’s tipped over and dumped onto your workspace. All thoughts of showering and getting ready for the day are gone. They’ve been replaced with a nervous energy that buzzes beneath your skin, making your fingers feel weak as you open the box.
The lock on the bathroom door is sturdy enough to help you feel a little bit more secure as you take the test, all the while trying to take deep breaths. Your heart feels like it’s beating too fast, and you aren’t sure if it’s because you’re nervous or excited. Maybe you’re both.
Calm down, Y/N! Freaking out isn’t going to help anybody!
You wash your hands and read the back of the box again, checking the wait time printed in tiny black letters. The test sits precariously on the countertop, in between the sink and the edge of the counter closest to the toilet, and you give it a wary glance before unlocking the bathroom door and going to sit in your office while you wait. After setting the timer on your phone, you end up pacing in front of your desk instead, from the wall to the futon and back again.
Finally, the timer goes off. You flinch at the loud ringing, then hurry to silence it. Your hands fumble with your phone and you stay tense when the office falls quiet again. Silently, you slip it back into your pocket and go back into the bathroom. When you reach the sink, you brace your hands against the front of the bowl, on the thinnest part of the counter. You stare at yourself in the mirror for a long few seconds, pointedly not looking down at the test that’s resting only a few inches from your hands. Inside your chest, your heart pounds even harder than before and your hands shake. Everything feels so unsteady, from your head to your feet, and for a second, you worry that you might pass out. Closing your eyes, you try to take a few deep breaths to calm yourself and to slow your racing pulse.
You’re reaching for the test on the counter when there’s a knock at your office door.
“Y/N? You in there?”
“Yes!” you yelp, almost too loudly. Your hand, outstretched and only an inch from the test, knocks it sideways, sending it clattering to the floor, along with a tube of toothpaste.
Dean calls for you again and you frantically scramble to right the bathroom. You practically throw the test onto the counter. It slides into the sink, and you’re pulling the bathroom door shut behind you just as Dean pushes the office door open from the hallway. He meets your eyes and you force a smile that you hope seems normal.
“You left before I was up,” he says. He’s dressed already, in jeans and the green jacket you’d got him for his birthday, and his hair looks damp from the shower.
Accepting a kiss on the lips, you hum a little and let go of the door handle to wrap your arms around his waist. Can he feel your heart beating too hard inside of your chest? What about your hands trembling against his back?
“I needed to shower and I didn’t want to wake you up. I have a shower here that I used to use when I was by myself.” You tilt your head back slightly, towards the door behind you.
Dean frowns. “You could’ve showered at home.” He looks down at you, and not only does his frown deepen, but the furrow between his eyebrows appears again. His worry lines are out in full force. “What’s wrong?”
Your stomach drops. Are you supposed to tell him? What if the test turns out negative? What if—?
“Sweetheart,” Dean soothes, pulling away so there’s space between the two of you. He takes your shaking hands in his and searches your face for an answer to his concerns. “What’s on your mind? I can see all the gears turning in there.”
The tips of his fingers touch your temple. You swallow thickly and look away. A line of dust lays gray on the hardwood where your old rug used to be. You moved it just last week to clean, but apparently, you’d missed it.
“Did I do something?”
Frantic, you shake your head and find his eyes. “What? No! No, of course not.”
“Then what is it?” Dean steps closer, crowding close in a tentative way that allows you enough time to move away, if you want. You don’t, and you let your eyes fall closed as you breathe in his scent and soak in his warmth. Your hands move to clutch the sides of his shirt, pulling him infinitely closer until your front is pressed against his again. Then, for the first time all morning, you relax. Your shoulders slump and you rest your forehead against him.
“I think…” you finally say after a minute. You take a breath, willing the words out on your next exhale. “I think I might be pregnant.”
There’s silence in the moments that follow, and though you know he’s probably just processing the news, it kills you. You stay frozen in place, unable to move as you wait for Dean to speak.
Finally, you release his shirt and step back, just enough that you can see his face without tilting your head at too uncomfortable of an angle. He’s staring at the closed bathroom door behind you, with both eyebrows raised and with long creases along his forehead. His whole body is tense and the longer he stares at the door, the deeper the furrow between his brows becomes.
“Dean?” you prompt. “Say something, please.”
“You think? Or you know?” His voice is hoarse and his Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows, then looks back down at you.
“I don’t know. I took a test. I was just about to look at it when you knocked.”
“Oh.” His eyes flick up again, over your shoulder at the door, then down to your face. The second hand on the wall clock ticks as you stand near each other, Dean processing the news and you holding your breath as you wait for a more concrete response from him. The ticking feels louder than it did before. Has it always been that loud?
His fingers against your cheek make you look away from where you’ve been watching the black plastic line clunk around the circumference of the clock face.
“What do you want it to say?” Dean asks.
You inhale shakily and search his eyes, hoping for an answer to the question. “What do you want?” you ask in return.
Dean shakes his head, then runs his hand over your shoulder and down your arm until he can lace his fingers with yours. You glance down at your joined hands, unsure of why he’s not answering. He’d told you only just last night that he wanted kids. His hesitation makes you wonder if something’s changed in only just a few hours.
“It’s not up to me. It’s your body, Y/N.”
The words tumble out before you can even formulate the thought. “I just wasn’t expecting this so soon. I thought we’d have more time with just the two of us. What if this changes everything? What if it’s not everything we thought it would be?”
“We’ll still have time together,” he tells you, gently squeezing your hand. “It just might be less than we’d anticipated.”
“Would it even be a good thing if I was pregnant now? I know you said last night that it’s what you wanted, but we also said—”
“We said that if it happens, it happens,” Dean interrupts. “And if it’s happening now, then that’s a good thing. If it happens later, that’s also a good thing.”
You nod and take another deep breath. The butterflies in your stomach are out in full force. You have to close your eyes as you take breaths, trying to stave off the sudden wave of nausea that accompanies your worries. Dean’s hands in yours keeps you grounded as you breathe through your nose.
When you’re finally feeling more settled, you open your eyes and silently glance behind you at the bathroom door.
“You want me to wait out here?” Dean asks.
Swallowing thickly, you shake your head. Tears burn in your eyes, and you wipe them away with one hand, embarrassed by your reaction. “Why am I so scared? We just said that this is supposed to be a good thing.”
Dean squeezes your hand again. “This is a big thing, Y/N. It’s okay to be scared. I can be brave for both of us, okay?” He smiles a little, his lips pressed together, and you nod in response, inhaling deeply through your nose.
You feel stuck in place. Part of you wants to go look at the test, but another part of you is rooted to the floor, keeping you in this moment. The results of the test could turn your life upside down for the second time in a year, and you aren’t sure if you’re ready for that. What if you aren’t a good parent? What if you aren’t able to do your job while you’re pregnant? What would you do instead?
“Hey.”
You blink, then meet Dean’s eyes again. Another tear rolls down your cheek and you sniffle, wiping it away with the back of your free hand. His smile has disappeared, and now he watches you with a concerned frown that makes his lips turn downward at the corners and makes the wrinkle between his eyebrows reappear.
“There’s nothing to be scared of, sweetheart. We’re in this together, and I’m with you no matter what. Do you want me to look first?” he asks.
After a few seconds, you nod. You don’t know what to say, but you know it won’t matter to Dean whether you speak or not. He’ll do and be whatever you need in this moment, just like he always does.
He releases your hand and carefully steps around you, opening the bathroom door to retrieve the test from the sink. You’d left the light on in the bathroom when you’d shut the door, and now it floods your office from behind you. Dean’s footsteps are soft and his jacket rustles as he picks up the test, and you hold your breath as you listen for some kind of sign or clue as to the results. When there isn’t any, you turn in a circle to look at him.
“What’s it say?”
His profile gives you very little information about the results, and you take a tentative step forward when he doesn’t move or say anything. Maybe he just didn’t hear you? His bad ear is on the other side, but it’s still possible.
“Dean?” you prompt, stepping closer a second time. You wonder if he’s disappointed and that’s why he hasn’t said anything. The thought makes you nauseous again.
“You’re pregnant,” he answers. His voice shakes as he stands staring down at the plastic stick. It’s so small in his hand, and an image of him cradling a tiny newborn flashes in your mind.
You freeze a few feet from the bathroom threshold. “It’s positive?”
He nods and looks up, meeting your eyes. Tears glisten on his lower lash line, and you press your hands over your mouth, inhaling deeply as your heart leaps inside your chest. The wrinkle between his brows is gone once again, replaced with the kind of shock you’ve only seen a few times, the first being when you’d told him you’d loved him all those years ago.
“We’re having a baby,” Dean tells you, letting out a laugh. A smile grows on his face as tosses the test onto the counter and closes the distance between you in two long steps. He crushes you against him in a tight hug.
Too shocked to hug him back, you let Dean wrap his arms around you and lift you off the ground. Your feet dangle for a second before your instincts catch up with you. Hurriedly, you move your hands from your mouth to his back as your legs come up to wrap around his waist. You bury your face in the crook of Dean’s neck as you smile. Your cheeks already ache and you’re blinking away tears, but it doesn’t matter.
“We’re having a baby!” you exclaim. He spins around with you in his arms, and you push away from his neck and pull one hand from his shoulders so you can cradle his cheek in your palm.
Dean’s eyes are alight with joy, making the green of his irises seem even more vibrant in the morning sunshine coming in from the office window. Your smile matches his as the scruff on his jawline scratches at the soft skin of your palm.
“You’re gonna be a dad,” you tell him, gently rubbing your thumb over his cheekbone. “You’re gonna be a great dad.”
He takes a few steps, then sets you down on the only clear space on your desk, beside the bag you’d brought with you this morning. You let your legs fall from around his waist so they bracket his hips, but you don’t drop your hand from his face.
“I love you,” Dean says. He brushes the backs of his knuckles over your abdomen, and you laugh when it tickles. There’s no bump yet, but the effect is all the same. Dean smiles wider, his eyes flicking to your stomach, then back up to your face. “I love both of you.”
You laugh and pull him down for a kiss. “We love you too, Dean Winchester. Forever and ever.”

Falling for you - M.H x Reader // pt. 8
Tumblr media
A/N: i'm getting sort of sad now that the end has come. Thank you @beforeyougo-turnthebiglightoff for being an absolute legend and beta reading everything and being mental in my dms for the majority of it. @vinylandcoffeecollection and @sugar-coat-it you lot have been so nice to me this entire time and made me feel welcome and like i wasn't doing everything wrong, you're absolutely amazing❤️ This chapter is NSFW minors do not interact. Also terribly sappy and sweet cause i can't help myself.
wc: 4k
The light breeze made wrappers fly through the air, George chasing after them, ever the eco conscious one. Matty laughed, rolling his eyes before biting into his burger, sauce covering his face. The five of you had ended up where you always did: The McDonalds parking lot. It was almost sad, with Caroline's having too many horrible memories connected to it, the only place that felt nice was a parking lot next to the highway.
Sometimes, you’d go to your respective houses, but with Mattys place being far too posh for Ross’ taste, and Hann and Ross’ flat feeling quite cramped when you all piled in, the great outdoors was your only option.
George had somehow found another shopping cart on the side of the road, and was now sitting in it with you, your legs draped over each other as you shared a spliff over burgers and ice cream. Matty, not being able to ask for the spliff like a normal person, started making grabby hands at you, his mouth filled with bits of food. You roll your eyes, handing it to him reluctantly.
Hann was going on about his girlfriend (well, now ex-girlfriend) and how much he missed her. She had broken up with him a few days prior, stating he “acted like a single mother to his friends”, calling him weird for not answering her calls the day Matty had finally come back from his ‘bender’.
Matty was making his weird food-eating sex noises again, and Ross groaned, closing his hands around his ears, trying to muffle the sound. You giggled at his reaction, Matty turned to you, giving you a subtle wink.
“You look nice today, have you done something with your hair?'' The question came from George, his eyes trying to figure out what you did. “I straightened it properly, you like?” he nods, turning back to the floor of the shopping cart you were both in, picking up his milkshake and taking a sip.
“Oh for fucks sake Matty, you got your fucking hair in my food.” Hann holds up a blonde strand, clearly belonging to Matty, the curl pattern giving him away. Matty just shrugs, blowing Adam kiss before turning to you. His eyes pierce yours, and you can feel your heartbeat speed up.
“Cunt.” Adam mutters to himself before trying to throw the hair onto Matty, failing miserably.
“Let's go to the lake, I fancy a swim.” Ross pipes up. You immediately agree, the weather was warm enough and a night swim sounded fantastic right about now. George whined about how unsanitary the lake was, but everyone knew he would be the first one in it the moment you got there.
The walk there was calm, Ross and George leading the way, with you and Matty right behind them. Adam was trudging along beside you, loopy and tired and hungover. You take a stab at him for acting like an old man, and he shoots you a glare that shuts you up, holding your hands up defensively as he turns back to stare at the ground in front of him.
The field was slightly damp, the grass wetting your back as you laid down on it. The sounds of crickets and trees rustling filled your ears, and you see Matty walking towards you. He had taken his shirt off, nipple piercing on display.
“Jesus, is that a nip ring?” you hear Ross comment, hiding his laugh behind his hand.
“Yeah, this one is an aspiring piercer.” he gestured to you, and you nod at Ross, confirming that you had done it for him. It was almost healed at this point, and you were begging him to switch it to something pink and girly. He tried to fend you off, but eventually agreed to let you swap out the black ring for a pink one.
“It would look so good on you, I promise.” you assured him, your hand grazing over his chest. As long as you kept doing that he'd let you do whatever you wanted to him.
Peeling off your shirt, you lay back down onto the grass, patting the space next to you while looking at Matty. He grins, spinning around and letting himself flop onto the ground, his head immediately resting on your chest. The soft curls of Mattys hair brushed against your face, tickling slightly.
“Get in the water and stop lying there like a bunch of pricks posing for a summer edition of Vogue!” The yell comes from Ross, who was already knee deep in swampy lake water, waving his hands over his head as he flung insults at the both of you. Like second nature, two aggressive middle fingers fly up, telling him to promptly go fuck himself.
The sun had set, stars littering the sky, lighting it up. Your legs had started to go numb from the weight of Mattys body on yours, so you had decided to switch places. Arms draped over each other, he held you close as you watched the stars sparkle.
“I want you.” The words sound nonchalant, almost disguising their meaning as they leave Mattys lips. A laugh escapes you, and you trail a hand up his chest, tracing the indents of his ribs.
“Alright, i'm going to the shop for some booze,” you announce, getting up from Matty. From the water, George shouts at you to get a bottle Tequila, with Adam not far behind, asking you to buy him a pack of his fags. You commit the requests to memory, kicking Matty lightly, motioning for him to get up. He quickly does, his hand intertwining with yours as you walk to the road that was maybe a few hundred meters from the edge of the water.
Once you were out of their earshot, Ross pipes up:
“D’you reckon they're shagging?” his question sounds more casual than it actually is. George shrugs his shoulders, going back to fixing his shorts.
“I’d bet money on it. Have you seen the way she looks at him, or the way he looks at her? He's whipped.”
The knowledge hangs thick in the air, not as uncomfortable as they thought it would be. It was fine, they concluded, even if a bit weird.
Meanwhile, Matty had you pressed up against the wall of the alley next to the corner shop, his hands clawing at your tits with such an intensity, you’d have thought he’d been celibate up until this moment.
Not caring if anyone saw, you run your hands up his chest, looping your finger through the piercing on his chest, playing with it. He never failed you, eliciting just the reaction you were hoping for. A pathetic moan, and his hands tweaking your nipple in retaliation.
He taps your shoulder three distinct times, a provocative grin spreading onto his face. A desperate hand grabs his wrist, and you lead him into the shop, quickly rushing past the cash register in favor of the one stall bathroom you knew was in the back. The fluorescent lighting made your eyes burn for a second as you locked the door behind you, turning back to face Matty.
If heaven could be cultivated into one image, it would be the one standing right infront of you. Messy hair, wide eyes and a naked, sweaty chest graced your line of sight, wasting no time to press him against the sink, the ceramic digging into the small of his back. The kiss is all teeth and tongue, with him licking into your mouth in a way that makes you slightly dizzy, your knees buckling beneath you.
A wave of pure adoration washed over you as he pulled back, his eyes darting over your face, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Such a sweet expression on the face of someone who was currently grinding onto you like his life depended on it. You could feel him growing harder the more you kissed him, sharp nails raking down his back, leaving raised scratch marks that reflected off of the mirror behind him.
“You want me, yeah?” you quote his words back to him, his eyes screwing shut in pure ecstasy as you reach a hand down his loose basketball shorts, ghosting over his underwear. His hips buck forward, a moan leaving his lips as the pressure increased. A wet patch formed on the front of his boxers, his cock leaking into your hand.
An idea pops into your head, and your hand leaves his pants, opting to grab his waist. He whines at the loss of contact, burying his head into your shoulder. A yelp of surprise sounds from him when you flip him around, pressing his front to the edge of the sink, making eye contact in the mirror.
Your hands move over the expanse of his chest, watching his face closely as he hangs his head, trying to catch his breath.
“Look at yourself,” you tell him “If you don't, I'll stop.” your voice is firm, and his eyes snap up to meet yours before landing on his own reflection.
A sigh leaves his parted lips as your hand finally travels lower, the tent in his pants now painfully obvious. The cool air of the bathroom made his nipples hard against your fingers as you ran your other hand over them.
“Please- i've done everything you wanted.. please.”  his voice cracks slightly as you squeeze him through his underwear, his cock pulsing in your hand. Your movements are slow as you take him out of his boxers, collecting beads of precum at the tip before smearing it back down.
You hold your hand out, Matty looking slightly confused when you do. A raised eyebrow makes it clear what you want him to do, and he spits into the palm of your hand, making eye contact with you as he did. Matty knows what he does to you, no matter how badly you try to hide it. A grin makes its way onto his face, quickly transforming into a blissed out expression as you speed up, thumbing his slit as he lets out a low moan.
He listened, never letting his eyes leave his reflection, though occasionally they flick over to you, your pupils completely blown out, watching every little move he made. He looks absolutely beautiful, like putty in your hands, you mold him with your words.
It was moments like these that made your heart swell up at the sight of him, fucked out and begging for even the smallest touch. One of his hands slam against the glass of the mirror, holding him steady. The faster you move, the more he reacts, filling the small bathroom with groans and pleas, the sounds reverberating off of the walls.
The mirror has not been a coincidence, no matter what you led him to believe. Reaching into the back pocket of your shorts, you feel around for a certain familiar object. The camera. You didn't know what it was, but whenever he was like this, twitching under even the slightest brush of your fingers against his cock, you felt the urge to immortalize the moment.
His eyes widen when he spots the lens in the mirror, reflecting the light of the lightbulb above you. His mind was fuzzy, and honestly, so was yours. Your fingers fumbled a bit, missing the shutter the first time. Even if he played dumb in the moment, he knew you kept the photos of him close to you, so he always made sure to give you what you wanted.
A sly grin, half closed eyes, maybe even parted lips with a hint of tongue between them. Sweat needed on his forehead, dripping down his face and onto his chest, and he could feel him throttling towards his orgasm.
A flash.
A particularly harsh tug of his cock makes his mouth fall open just as the picture is taken, the expression on his face one of pure ecstasy. Your core flutters at sight in the mirror, even letting out a small moan as his eyes meet yours.
Flash
This time, he’s ready, his head tilting back, showing off the numerous hickeys you had left days before, slightly faded but still visible. His hair is thrown to the side, tangled and unruly, blonde, grown out highlights peeking through the mess of curls. He parts his lips, on purpose this time, letting out an exaggerated moan.
Your hand had now left his cock, a groan of protest coming from Matty as you shush him, your hand tracing up his chest and settling around his throat. Squeezing experimentally, Matty whimpers at the sensation, nodding vigorously to get you to do it again. You do, tightening your grip.
Flash.
This picture is your absolute favorite. Your hand is small around his neck, yet still overpowering him. The way he looks at you in the reflection convinces you an actual angel has been plucked out of heaven and handed to you in the form of Matty. His hands clutch the edge of the sink, head thrown back once again.
Deciding you had given him enough, you reach back down, squeezing his cock just like you did his neck not three seconds earlier.
“I didn't think you’d be kinky like that, hm?” He tries to seem cocky, but his voice betrays him. He can't control the shakiness of it, the way his breath catches in his throat whenever you change up your rhythm, throwing him off.
“Didn't take you for such an attention whore either, did I? I guess we’re both full of surprises.” you retaliate, and you know he’s almost there, the way his thighs tense and his cock twitches in your hand a telltale sign.
“I’m so close- fuck.” He’s asking for permission, you know he is. His eyes find yours in the mirror, and you nod.
“Go on, Matthew, you know you want to.” you urge him, hand speeding up as his legs buckle underneath him, the only thing keeping him upright being the ceramic of the sink his hands are holding on to.
He comes with a cry of your name, shuddering in your grasp, ropes of cum painting the white of the sink. Small, short gasps leave his mouth as you work him through his orgasm, only letting up when his hand goes to grab yours.
Matty turns around, planting a kiss onto your wet lips, wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling flush against him.
“You got to show me those pictures sometime.” he gestures to the forgotten camera hanging off your wrist, along with the polaroid tucked into the band of your pants.
“No fuckin way-” you giggle “knowing you, you’d probably add them to your personal wank bank.” His eyes widen in offense, slapping the side of your arm in protest.
“I know you think I'm just some egomaniacal tosser, but look at me!” He points his index finger to his chest. “How could you not?” Another laugh escapes you as you roll your eyes at his proclamation.
The walk to the counter post bathroom sex was nothing but awkward, with the cashier eyeing you as you walked up to the front to pay. Matty takes out a wad of cash, slamming down a twenty and grabbing the stuff off the counter, quickly spinning around to leave.
The other three questioned why you were gone so long, but really, they knew why. That conversation was one for another day.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had started to rain shortly before you got home, your clothes being completely soaked through as you stepped through the front door. Matty groaned as he took his shorts off, laying onto the couch in exhaustion. The two of you had booked it down the street the last few hundred meters, neither of you fit enough to get out of that sprint alive.
The heat was cranked up, warm blankets covering you as you snuggled up to each other, Amy Winehouse played softly in the background, the vocals calming you as you talked softly. Matty held you close to his chest, his breathing regular as he stroked your hair, running his fingers through it over and over.
You wanted to freeze this moment in time and relive it forever until you died. The gentleness of his hands paired with the hoarse but small sound of his voice made your insides melt. Looking back, this was truly a long time coming.
But what was ‘this’?
The two of you hadn't talked yet, blatantly ignoring the elephant in the room. Your feelings for each other were undeniable, but what then? What did that mean to you, but more importantly, what did it mean to Matty?
The next few moments feel like a dream. His hands wrap around the base of your neck, pulling you up. He kisses you, sweet and innocent, almost chaste as his lips move with yours. He pulls away quickly, eyes darting over your face before settling on your. A small sound escapes his lips, and you can see him hesitate.
A deep breath.
“I love you.”
The words hit you like a freight train. His eyes search yours for a reaction, wincing when you remain expressionless. That is, until you speak.
“Fucking idiot.” it sounds harsh, and you can see him deflate.
“I love you too.” his fucking angelic smile graces his face, and you pull him in for another kiss. The feel of his hands on yours makes your heart flutter, your heart swelling up with love.
“Does this mean-” he cuts himself off before starting his sentence again. “Can I be your boyfriend?” His voice is small, and you can tell he feels slightly insecure.
“Only if you promise not to wank to those pictures.” you burst out into delirious laughter as he pulls you back in, he grasps your face, mushing it against the palms of his hands.
“Only if you promise to stop taking my fucking clothes, jesus christ” he tugs at the shirt youre wearing. His stupid blue Barcelona shirt.
Kisses litter your face, and the blanket starts to feel warmer, like you were trapping heaven itself under the covers. It sure felt like it, with Matty looking at you with an expression so filled with love and adoration you thought it might spill out of his ears.
In a way, you knew it would end like this.
You and Matty
Matty and you
“What are we?” you ask, repeating his question from so many nights ago.
“I'm yours, forever.” he answers, his hair falling into his face as he looks down at you.
You and Matty, forever.

Epilogue
The summer breeze messed with Y/n’s locks, even though that didn’t disturb her slumber. Matty ran a hand softly through the strands of hair falling on his lap. His sight admired the lake in front of them and the sun reaching every corner of the park except the place they chose for a break during that summer day.
Matty stared at the broken light –getting through the leaves of the tree above them– playing on his girlfriend’s face. His factions softened when his eyes traced every part of her beautiful face. She had fallen asleep shortly after they arrived, and he started reading out loud for her. When she proposed the idea, Matty protested saying how cheesy it was, although she only had to flutter her eyelashes and he started clearing his throat before pronouncing the first word of the book Y/n selected.
The singer's calloused hands touched slightly her forehead, drawing lines along the skin, then her nose, to finish caressing the apple of her cheeks. ‘I’m a lucky bastard’, Matty thought.
After a few minutes, Y/n protested, still partially asleep, “Mmm.” she mumbled, but Matty didn’t stop.
Y/n blinked her eyes open, looking up at her boyfriend’s face, meeting his eyes. She groaned due to tiredness overtaking her senses. The quick action made Matty laugh.
“Hey, sleepy.” he whispered, feeling another breeze of air surrounding them.
Matty’s girlfriend let herself enjoy his touch, still on her face. “I’m sorry.” Y/n apologized. “Your voice and the weather are just too good.”
“Happy to help, my love.” he smiled down at her, even when her eyes were still closed.
Y/n felt her stomach move a little, and her hand instantly went to rest over her growing belly. She loved Matty with all her heart. Those simple moments of peace together were everything Y/n wanted to cherish for the rest of their lives. The intimacy they built during the past year and a half was their biggest treasure until she arrived.
When she moved looking for a better position since her back started hurting, Matty helped her. Y/n ended up sitting on his lap, with her back meeting his front. Matty’s hands met on Y/n front, caressing the skin under her blouse.
“How much did I sleep?” Y/n ask, resting her head on his shoulder.
Matty answered right away, “Probably half an hour.”
“How long until you noticed?”
“Five minutes.” he chuckled.
“Matty!”
“Don’t look at me. You looked too peaceful to wake you up, baby. Besides, you haven’t slept that well in days.”
He was the sweetest man walking the earth. Y/n took his free hand, lifting it until her lips left multiple kisses on the back of it.
“She’s being a little troublemaker already.” Matty teased.
“Mhm.”
“You’re never this tired when i fuc-”
“Matty!” Y/n protested, turning as best as she could, looking at his face. “Do I have to remind you how did I get…?
“Yes, please. I want a step by step manual of everything we did-”
Y/n frowned, saying, “Shut up.”
“I love you.” Matty replied, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, making her heart melt.
The singer’s girlfriend let herself lean forward, encountering him in a sweet kiss.
After a few minutes and multiple kisses, Y/n pushed back, “I need to drop by the shop.” Matty frowned listening to her say that. “New delivery.” she clarified.
“You can do it tomorrow. I’ll help you.”
“I’ve already told Kate to help me.”
“Cheater.”
“You can help too.” she reassured him.
“I can see how this is going to be. Me doing all the hard work and you two ogling over me.”
“Excuse me?”
“I have a nice butt.” Matty shrugged his shoulders.
“...now.” Y/n added.
The singer groaned loudly, “I forbid Kate to show you those pictures.”
“Love, she doesn’t hear us, and besides I have a phone.”
“Oh, do you have a Pinterest board for me?” he giggled his eyebrows. ‘He can be so annoying sometimes’, she thought.
“I don’t like you.” Y/n breathed out.
Surprising Matty and herself, Y/n stood up rather quickly with little problems due to her current state. She whipped her hands on the back of her jeans, looking down at Matty. He reached up, touching her belly again. The man was obsessed with it.
“How’s it called?” Matty continued messing with her.
“Asshole.” Y/n whispered, making him laugh.
The singer moved his other hand into the air, making a weird voice, “Matty, my perfect boyfriend.”
“Bye!” the woman simply said, starting to walk away.
“Baby!”
*****
Matty was at the top of the stairs, a few books resting on his arm between his chest and his bicep. Meanwhile, Y/n stood at the bottom of the stairs, being unable to do the job that was needed. Her hands rested on the small part of her back, she was very sore. The sight above her was a nice reassurance, though.
“You lucky girl.”
Kate’s voice came from behind her head. Her best friend took place beside her, her eyes glutted to Matty’s body, exactly how Y/n had been doing moments before.
“Shush.” she said after a quick glance.
Matty stretched far from the stairs, putting the last book on the shelf. “And…done!”
The singer looked down, expecting to see only Y/n there. He got a little stunned when two pairs of eyes were staring at him and not exactly his work. But his mood quickly changed to a smugly one.
“Liking the view, guys?” he asked.
“Yep.” Kate admitted with zero shame on her tone.
Matty snorted, “Didn’t you have a girlfriend?”
“Didn’t you have one?”
“Mhm, she lets her crazy friend look at my ass.”
“I own it.” Y/n stated.
“You do.”
Kate looked between them, “You two are gross.”
“And yet you stare at my ass.” Matty said coming down.
“I can appreciate art when I see it.”
It was Y/n’s time to protest, “Kate!”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcomed.” Matty thanked Y/n’s friend, standing closer to his girlfriend, reaching for her belly once more.
“Am I bothering you guys? Should I leave?” Y/n joked.
Kate rolled her eyes. “Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, Y/n.”
“Funny ha-ha.”
“I should leave, though.”
Kate explained to them, grabbing her back, that it was at the other side of the shop, although she returned. Y/n watched her kneeled down, whispering silly things to her belly, ending with a sweet kiss.
“Vick is waiting for me.” Kate continued the conversation as if nothing happened in between.
Matty whistled, gaining a stern look from her.
“He’s lucky to have nice buttocks.” Kate said directly to her friend. “Bye.”
After the door closed, Matty went directly to the big couch, plopping down with a big huff. He opened his arms wide, searching for Y/n’s eyes. She was already staring at him.
“Baby…” he started. She knew that tone.
“No, I still have work.” Y/n started turning around, but not two steps before he pushed her towards the couch.
Mayhem who was on the other couch, tired by the intense heat, opened and closed his eyes, annoyed with his owners. Y/n extended her hand, touching his fur, avoiding Matty’s eyes above her.
“You deserve a break.” she could feel him lingering on top of her.
“Maybe but-”
Matty shut her up with a series of sweet kisses that ended –of course– on her belly. He kneeled down in front of her and their doggy.
“To think this is where it all started…” he spoke, a bit lost inside his own head. Y/n detached her eyes and hand from Mayhem’s form, leaving the sweet dog to rest.
“The bookshop?” their hands met shortly after asking him.
“Yes.”
“Thanks to your crazy fans, too.”
Matty chuckled, “They love you.”
“I bet they want my place.”
“The bookshop?”
“To be underneath you.” Y/n teased.
“Ah!” Matty exclaimed, going to sit beside her. “You like that, don’t ya?”
“Why are you talking so much?”
“What should I do?”
“Kiss me, Matty.”
“Since you asked nicely…” Matty smiled at Y/n, grabbing her face and pulling his face closer.
Meanwhile the future parents shared a sweet moment after an evening of hard work, all the surrounding universes inside the bookshop continued witnessing –like they did since the first day– their love that continued growing strong.

The destruction of the family diner in SPN's 14x13 Lebanon:
So many family & Dean symbols
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zachariah appears in front of a GARAGE (Al's Automobile Garage - Automobile Repairing). The light spotlights closed wooden doors, a callback to Castiel's arrival.
Papers and wrappers blow in the wind. There's a shopping cart with a big tire in it. Shopping is another family motif.
Cas joins him from the side of the shopping cart. (Combat isn't Zach's strong suit, I'm guessing, so he needs a specialist with him at all times.)
Tumblr media
The next shot includes more CHECKERBOARDED patterned papers, a call-forward to the family unit/family diner. They're restaurant wrappers, strewn about like garbage, the specter of the trampling of the family diner.
Zachariah is disgusted by it, shaking his foot like it's dog poop.
"Earth. You're always stepping in something."
///
Dean's family diner
Tumblr media
Zachariah and Cas enter the diner. The triangular neon sign "PSYCHIC" is lit up behind them, its eye peering at the audience. (I think it's a callback to Pamela, anther one of Dean's first contacts with Cas.)
This family diner is a pizza parlor called Big Little B&E Palace Pizza & Pasta. (Or something like that; probably just B&E.) To quote Shaggy from Scoobynatural, it's "like, a great Italian pizza place."
Also B&E -> like "breaking and entering."
///
The menu's got something for everyone:
The Classic Italian, The Greek, the Bacon Double Cheeseburger (Dean), Deluxe Hawaiian (Jack), Garden Veggie (Sam), Super Supreme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next to the menu, there's a bronze Roman warrior bust.
On the wall, two coats hang among the mass of coats, touching -- a gray one reminiscent of Dean's dead guy robe and something khaki-tan like Cas's.
///
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cut to Cas, directly positioned in front of the menu and next to the warrior bust. Cas will be shot in view of this threatening bust for much of this scene.
Zach orders Cas to get ready to murder everyone. The lights above the cashier counter burst. We get a shot of Cas powering up that bears some resemblance to the shot of Godstiel at the end of season 6.
When he powers up the windows of the family pizza diner light up, garnering the attention of Sam and Dean, who happen to be RIGHT OUTSIDE 528 B & E.
///
Shot of Cas powered up and ready to kill. The Roman soldier bust remains in the shot.
Enter Sam and Dean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Dean calls for Cas, the bust drops from the shot, but only for a second. Instead, we see more of the family diner menu. However, when Dean pleads, "Cas, you know us!" Cas hardens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I don't know you." And suddenly, the bust is back in the shot.
Dean's expression is like whiplash. Ow.
"Kill them."
Warrior--pizza--Cas. It's a mockery of Dean's family.
///
The fight & destruction of Dean's family diner
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas attacks Dean first--throws him into two silver serving trays.
Tumblr media
Cut to Zachariah choking Sam...in front of sailboats from Italy, Lago di Garda. (Famously, Lake Garda has something for everyone with its colorful towns, majestic castles, ancient Roman ruins, sun-kissed beaches, vineyards, amusement parks, and historical sites.)
These paired sails bring to mind Mary & John. Or Dean & Cas.
Side note: Absolutely hilarious that Zach blames Sam for the disturbance. Dean is the one who made the wish.
///
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dean is on the defense, but whacking Cas with a silver platter is pretty much like hammering an unmovable wall. Cas just keeps coming. He backhands Dean face-first into a brick wall.
Side sidenote: I'm glad the boys' angel blades hadn't disappeared yet. A few minutes later and the timeline might've eaten them, leaving the boys defenseless.
Tumblr media
Side side sidenote: Although Dean favors Cas with the blunt end of the angel blade, quickly getting disarmed in the process, Sam's not that nice. After dispatching Zach, he attacks Cas with the pointy end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas punches Sam in the face...and then backhands Dean again. Sam comes for more, gets the vector of his blade blocked, and gets choked again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas throws Sam into one of the family diner table, spilling the meal the three Lebanon friends had been enjoying. The destruction of the family meal. The tablecloth is the same checkerboard pattern than Zach trampled earlier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elbow to Dean's face. Dean gets thrown into the shelf of dishes. The glasses on the top shelf shatter. Both white mugs fall, too. Everything shatters, and Dean falls into the glass. The destruction of the metaphorical kitchen, the domestic space with coffee cups.

Zhou’s lines: —“these are my lines”—
Logans lines: ——“these are my lines”——
/ Guess I do like the store… like you. /
Tumblr media
Zhou laid his feet on the dash on Logans rental car, due to the different traffic laws in the states he rather be the passenger princess. It was a small little unspoken rule for the two as Logan drove the roads in the Americas, and Zhou did the roads in Asia but funny enough they do rock paper scissors for who drives around when they’re in Europe. Of course the media finds it weird that Logan or Zhou drive’s each other around but they always play it out as “oh we’re best buddies!”— and all that bullshit.
Zhou looked at his boyfriend who is straight faced at the moment eyes on the road up north of Texas to a city called Dallas, he wasn’t really paying much attention as he huffed —“broooo how long do we have to we go to this fish shop?”— Zhou said tired of being on the road Logans laugh echoed through the truck as he smiled ——“just a little bit longer dude, we still have a hour away.”—— This made the Chinese man to groan in a tired tone —“sigh of course this state is bigger than most countries in Europe this is bullshit….”—
——“now now dude we’re almost there just enjoy the ride, plus don’t crack the windshield with your feet on the dash ok?”—— Zhou rolled his eyes as he nods as the music played on the radio many cars come and go on the highway. As for Zhou he was invested in his phone scrolling mindlessly on twitter and or Instagram.
After a hour on the road they made it close to downtown Dallas and Zhou was chuckling as he helped a stressed Logan out on the highway —"bro turn left to get off I-30 we need to eastbound what the fuck are you doing"— he said cackling at the situation as his boyfriend huffed pissed off at the situation, as Texan drivers are ruthless but the Floridian was worse ——"I'm trying babe but this jackass wont move!!"—— he honked at the car in front as he floored the truck faster to barely make it into their exit. Logan heard the other diver curse them out and in an eye roll he responded to the comment ——"yeah yeah you kiss your mother with that fucking mouth?! jackass....."——
After that incident Logan and Zhou made it to the beautiful Lake on the east side of Dallas about 17 miles off to the east driving up to the Bass Pro Shops Logan kept hyping the whole trip. Zhou hopped out the F-150 as he puts his shoes on, closing the door with a soft twack he walked around the white truck to notice Logan's appearance —"really dude you're wearing that?"— Logan shocked at his boyfriend’s harsh words as he looked at his outfit ——"what whats wrong with it?! I think I look good fwi!"—— he said a bit pained that his causal wear was being criticized the irony of it all it was by his own lover! What Logan wore was a light grey tee and some loose basketball shorts which really doesn't do him any favors, and my god Birkenstocks and white socks?! Ugh the gut wrenching horror Zhou experience with that outfit be might well pass out in this parking lot.
Logan rolled his eyes and punched Zhou's arm ——"whatever jackass lets just go in the damn store"—— he knew to not annoy him further as Zhou apologized softly and held his hand as they walk in the Bass Pro. Both men walking in Zhou was hit with a massive culture shock —"my god what the fuck Is this place?!"— he said confused and a bit overwhelmed at all the sights. —"I mean like there's camo clothing everywhere! And is this place just themes as a big log cabin?!"— Logan on the other hand chuckled at Zhou's shock to this new place as the Asian didn't like the American laughing at his expense so he punched his gut —"not funny jackass!! I'm overwhelmed aren't you going to help your "boyfriend?!"—
Logan kept cackling as he wiped a stray tear off his eye before smiling painedly ——"OW? that hurt you know you prick!"—— he kept some amusement in his voice as Zhou wasn't even overstimulated he was just pissed at his lover laughing at him ——"ok bro you had your laugh, ha ha ha!"—— he said sarcastic as he felt Logan's arms wrap around his waist as he gave him a soft kiss to the neck for comfort ——"sorry babe you were too funny to tease, didn't mean to hurt your feelings...."—— Logan said more genuine in the voice that always made Zhou's heart melt after 15 seconds he sighed heavy and leaned into his touch ——"sigh sorry for lashing out man... just the culture shock y'know?"— Logan smiles and nods ——"yes dude I know I was an ass for even joking while you were in shock... hey let me make it up to you I'll buy you anything in this store on me ok? And maybe we can go to this gas station called Buc-ee's on the way back ok?"——
Zhou smiled softly as he chuckled —"spoiling me eh? anything from this store... and Buc-ee's later? Fine fine I forgive you Logan maybe I will grab a ugly camo hoodie as my first item"— with that Logan smiles softly and kissed Zhou's cheek ——"ah you seem to be getting fond of this place already, do you like the store Zhou...."—— he blushed embarrassed as he was already a kinda liking this store after all the theatrics he did before but to keep his pride he shook his head. Looking into his boyfriends eyes he sighed knowing it wasn't even worth it to lie today and he nods —"Yes bro, Guess I do like the store... like you"—
(Second story Jesus Christ, hope you guys like it and thanks to @midnight-grandprix for the header and a small mention to @kichona-s 🩷🩷😊)
((Little game to play check to see in the story a hint for Pt. 3 oooooo 👻))

Chapter Ten (Part 3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We finish our breakfast and help to clean up, and then Claire and I leave to check our bags into our hostel. It’s not far away, just a few streets over but even by the time the sun has fully risen and the early morning fog has dissipated it remains bitterly cold. We leave our things on our beds, two singles in a private room, and I quickly put on another layer under my jumper. My mother, who was, to my chagrin, right once again, insisted that I bring thermals with me. I’m thankful for them now as I roll the warm jersey over my body and feel my skin tingle with heat.
Tumblr media
Feeling more adequately prepared, Claire and I take the train into the centre of the city and wander around taking in the sights. “It really is quite nice, in a harsh sort of way.” She comments. “It’s weird that there’s that sort of mixture of really old buildings and then new ones, all butted up against each other.” We stand looking at the Brandenburg gate for a while, take some photographs of each other and then walk through an enormous public park with bare trees that I can imagine would be full and bursting with beautiful colour in the summertime. There are other people milling about a bit, pushing buggies and walking dogs, but on the whole it feels empty compared to the photographs I’ve seen on Jude’s Instagram page where he and his friends sat on crowded lawns, drinking beers, or swimming in the lakes. Despite the bleakness of the season, I still find it easy to imagine the life a person might enjoy in a place like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We find a great Chinese restaurant for lunch, where the waiter flirts outrageously with Claire while pretending I’m not there, but the food is delicious, and afterwards we throw ourselves elbow deep in thrift shop bins, pulling out anything and everything that looks remotely mid-century. I find a pair of lavender flares and a ruched lilac top and buy them for a combined cost of six euros, while Claire settles on a black polo neck top and a white mini skirt. Later on she scores big with a pair of white knee height boots.
Tumblr media
“Are you having fun?” I ask her while we drink coffee in an Irish pub near the Checkpoint Charlie, our bags crowded around our feet, and she tells me that it’s nice to get away from it all for a while. I nod, knowing just what she means.
Tumblr media
When the evening folds in and the sun gives way to a moonless sky, we hop on the U Bahn back to Neukolln. The streets have burst into life now with music that streams out from the clubs and the bars. Jude buzzes us into his apartment and we trudge up the seven stories on legs weary from walking, but seeing his face on the other side of the door makes me feel like life is slowly pouring back into my bones.
“Welcome back.” he says to us, and he has a swipe of dried plaster on his cheek that I itch to wipe away for him. He looks as tired as I feel, but even so he’s in the middle of cooking yakisoba noodles for us, and the small apartment is filled with the aroma of soy sauce and shiitake mushrooms. He has a bottle of sake open on the counter, and pours a glass for each of us.
Tumblr media
“Wow, you wouldn’t get this at the Ritz.” I settle onto a bar stool at the counter to watch him cook as Claire heads to freshen up in the bathroom. “How was your day?”
“Busy, as usual. It’s been just kind of crazy lately, what with everything, deadlines and whatnot… Like I’m not really in the headspace to be all that creative, which isn’t ideal because I’ll need to have my final project ready for the exhibit, well, soon. Very soon.”
“I know how it is.” I muse. “Something about the period between Christmas and summer always feels so manic. I feel as though you blink and it’s passed you by.”
Tumblr media
“Exactly.” He grabs a bottle of mirin and splashes a glug onto the sizzling pan. “But I hope your work is going well. Seems like you’ve been pretty much killing it with the illustrations and the murals.”
“Yeah, my Valentine’s Day cards sold really well.” I boast. “Right now I’m working on some for Father’s day.”
“Ah, an important day.”
“Right.” I say, knowing that we both have relatively useless fathers. I glance around me to take in the room, with lamps lit and casting warm light over the furniture. There are candles lighting too, dotted around on various shelves and tables, and a shiver of something, maybe appreciation, or comfort, ripples through me. “It’s so nice to be here.”
Tumblr media
“I know, it’s actually so rare that one of us is in the other’s space like this, isn’t it?” A pause. “Except for the last time I saw you, obviously, and I bled all over your kitchen table, which we can strike from the record.”
I chuckle. “I think it counts. It was pretty fun, even with all of the blood.”
“Did you ever get that t-shirt cleaned?”
“Oh god, no. It was destroyed, but don’t worry, I chucked it into the bin.”
“Glad to know you haven’t been wearing it around the place.”
“How’s your eyebrow now, by the way?”
He turns to grin at me. “Scarred.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, no way.” I say, and he comes to lean on the counter so that we’re eye to eye and I can see it,  the skin shiny and pink, and it slices right through his eyebrow, forging a gap in its wake. “Wow.” I say “I can’t lie, it’s a bit iconic.”
“Sexy, right?” He says proudly, and his eyes do a quick tour of my features. He gently takes his lower lip into his mouth, like he’s thinking about saying something else, but then Jonas makes a loud entrance and throws open the fridge to grab a bottle of beer. “Hello again, Evie Kilbride.” He says loudly. “I’ve heard that you will be choosing the movie tonight”
Tumblr media
“Am I?” I say. “I suppose that I can, if you like.”
“Yes.” He says. “I just have the feeling that you have the very best taste in everything. It’s all in your hands.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After dinner, the four of us settle around the television and watch Black Swan. It’s late now, and we are tired, and nobody says a single word, no questions, no comments. When Jude shifts positions next to me and accidentally presses his thigh against mine I wait for him to move it, but he doesn’t. In the dark of this room, where the only light is the glow from the television screen, I risk a glance at his face, and he looks right back at me, saying nothing. But I swear there’s something in his eyes, because at that moment they seem to glitter even brighter than the city lights outside the window.

This morning I woke up at the insane time of 3:15 AM. Shockingly, I felt well rested. I read in bed for a while, finally finishing a book the library automatically renewed twice. I did not care for the ending. It seemed like the author looked at his watch or calendar and realized there's a deadline, so time to cram a lot of action and resolution into nine pages and call it done.
Then I got up and started laundry. I like doing laundry. That's why my wife doesn't care what I spend on a washer and dryer. She's relieved of laundry duty.
Of course I don't waste money on some machine that gives me a choice of chimes to signal the end of the cycle. I have a solid, practical washer/dryer combo. If they were cars they'd be Toyota Camrys, the XLE trim level, and probably with the V6.
After brewing and ingesting a fair amount of coffee I washed all the bedding in the house. Sunrise today was 6:56 AM. Any awake neighbors might have laughed at me because I was hanging sheets, a blanket, and a quilt on my clothesline two hours before the darkness left. Even the bats likely thought I was crazy.
When it finally got light outside I took the dogs to the airport dog park. Plane-watching sucked. We saw some other Aussies, which always makes me smile.'
When Ella, Oliver, and Sulley were tired I brought them home, Then I got my Surly Cross Check out for a ride. I did a ten mile loop around the three Minneapolis lakes I enjoy being at. The weather was perfect.
Later, grocery shopping followed by making the beds and cleaning around the house.
Sulley still had energy. He's a year-and-a-half old. Ella is 12 and Oliver is 10. It really pissed off the older dogs when I took only Sulley for a walk around Lake Harriet. The other two would have been too exhausted to complete the 2.8 mile loop, though Ella would have liked a swim.
Now I think I understand why Sulley did poorly in obedience school. He's rarely on a leash. Between our fenced-in back yard and the mostly fenced-in dog park, that boy isn't used to having a leash on except to go from the car to the park gate or when he's in a brewery.
At the lake the first ten minutes were awkward as he and I figured out leash protocol. Then it got easy. He was very well behaved. Now I'm starting to think of trying another obedience class, after I take him on more leashed long walks.
Top picture is a view of Bde Maka Ska from a bike path. That's the Dakota name that replaced Lake Calhoun as the lake's current name. The second picture is the trolley car that runs from Lake Harriet to Bde Maka Ska. The operator rang a bell to warn Sulley and me to not attempt to cross the street as the trolley approached. It was kind of cute.
Now I'm going to eat a Jimmy John's sub and watch the final season of Succession. I don't like waiting week by week for new episodes. I waited for some time and now I can binge watch it.

“ My universe ” ;
Joshua Hong.
(Joshua's name isn't mentioned in the story, he's mentioned by "the man" "he" "the young man"...)
pairing: joshua x fem!reader genre: tragic end, fluff at first warning/s: mention of su!cide. sad end word count: 656
Synopsis : When a photographer met a painter. When two humans became each other's soulmates.
The young man finally closed his computer, he had already been working for several hours. But tired of working, he decided to go out to the park, his park, their park.
He then stood up, stretching his arms all along and yawning a blow.
He took his coat and put on his shoes without forgetting to take his bag, then left his house towards the park entrance.
The first cherry trees had blossomed and he looked at them with his tired eyes with nostalgia.
He was in the park, the park where it all started, the place where he met her.
It was a spring day, the cherry trees had blossomed and their beautiful pink colours were perfect for photographing. That was the reason why the young man with a passion for photography came out of his lair while his friends had gone to enjoy the beautiful weather.
He walked alone on the small path along the river. As he photographed the river and the greenery, he saw in the lens of his camera a long dress. The owner of this dress was facing the lake, a brush in her hand and a canvas on her knees, her beautiful eyes of exquisite sweetness and her delicate lips displaying a bright smile. And he, admiring her beauty, held his camera, admiring the young woman from her little path.
A few days had passed and the desire of a photographer to see this young woman again became very strong. He wanted to know who she was, he had perceived in her a great sadness and sensitivity. His desire to see her having prevailed, he left home with the hope of finding his angel fallen from the sky.
On that day, we could say, the photographer was lucky, there was a young woman, her beige brush still in her hand. When he saw her, her heart swelled in her chest, with a smile on her lips.
He sat there, facing the lake and the young woman, and without realizing it at once, the young woman had turned her gaze away from the lake, into the photographer's eyes.
The two young people were there, eye to eye, separated by the water of lake.
The photographer was lost and full of emotions mingled in the heart of his stomach.
Their exchange had lasted a few seconds, or minutes, the photographer would not have been able to define it, that moment had seemed to him like an eternity.
This event, which he described as magical, was repeated several times, animating the days of our photographer with a sweetness and serenity.
As time went on, the burning desire to speak to this young woman grew in him, and soon the great shy photographer, caught in a madness that was totally unknown to him, set off to meet his angel.
And it was on that day of spring, that a meeting between two lonely souls took place.
They were complementary, when the photographer was sad, she was there and vice versa. The painter's large eyes and her sweet smile fascinated the photographer. They were soulmates, according to the pretty young woman.
Their many meetings had led to something real.
The photographer felt alive, she was his muse, he was her guardian angel.
But it had to happen. . . One evening, on his way home from the coffee shop where he worked, he found her lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
She had just committed the irreparable.
If only he could have realized it, his discomfort was so well concealed. He blamed her for not telling him, and blamed himself for not noticing.
After that day, little by little, he felt himself perishing, part of his happiness was gone, leaving a bright and peaceful room for a world in chaos.
His world had just fallen apart, his muse was gone.
Remembering all these memories, the boy had a heavy heart and tears in his eyes. While admiring the cherry trees, he whispered a few words with a small voice.
"Whatever happens, you are my universe. »

It was the Finnish midsummer on friday-saturday, and for the first time in my adulthood, it wasn't "just another long weekend" for me. On Friday, H and I drove to a lake/national park area that was blissfully quit since a lot of people spend midsummer at lakehouses/cottages/at home with friends. So we got to do the 10 k national park hike without seeing other people, and it was such a hilarious yet calming hike. We were both tired from work, and the banter was a+ thanks to that (I swear it was only a little flirty). Then we lay in H's hammock and filled a couple of crosswords before it started getting cold, and we drove back to H's place to eat chips and collect ourselves. I was home before midnight and got a good night's rest.
On Saturday morning, the weather was beautiful, so I went on a recovery bike ride and did my weekly food shop. Ended up up informing H that I was making waffles, so she to came over to eat and lay around. Which is what we did all of Saturday afternoon - shooting the shit and not moving from the couch. My cats also appreciated H coming over.
I laughed so much and made so many memories in just two days that i can't even really believe it. Like how did I get here after so many years of mostly struggling.

Copenhagen Travels - Part III
A bout to the cemetery the other side of the island is the morning plan.
Sunny day. Buoyant sanguine Spring sunshine that pangs off the canal
Water and sparkles that and sparkles the bikes stacked up in their hundreds
By the streets as you dally. You need a fridge magnet for going back home.
Heading off into the hub of the city centre looking for a souvenir store you
Pass the corporate shops with the famous international names. On broad
Windows are splashed the adverts for cosmetics and perfume with these
Supermodels pouting their pulpy lips. And unfortunately there are the
Fast food branches with their sickly logos, mixed in with the fashion stores,
The shoe shops with their lady leather boots erectile through the screens.
On each restaurant MENU that you pass it’s all either meat or fish.
The coins are a bit confusing in Denmark and when you find a magnet you
Like you give the girl at the counter too much change.
After the store you head into this new park with a little lake inside it
All amazed by the light of the sky in simmering in pure reflections.
Swans and ducks mosey about, about as careless as water birds can be.
You come out of the park and onto the bridge that crosses the main canal
Leading off the island and on the brinks of the bridge are the bloody flags
Of Denmark again. Shortly after the crossing you come upon a basketball
Court. Surrounded by buildings smothered in graffiti. The courts of the
Playing field make you wish you had a ball to bounce there, to throw up
At those orange lurking rings … and you can’t discern much of the graffiti
Letters on the walls, nor understand the artwork spattered between the
Raw inscriptions, but they work in the rash urban zeal of the scene.
The scenery quickly changes into a charming district of florists, bakeries,
Bike hire shops, ice cream parlours. Shame you can’t really appreciate
Any of the cuisine, for personal ethical reasons (ha).
In close time you reach the cemetery.
Hans Christen Andersen is buried there. It is odd how a field full of
Skeletons underneath the soil can attract so many free people a day.
Free of charge you can go and see the tombs of dead folks and maybe
Tingle at the nuance of their bones under the flowers and grass that
Align their patches. Above Hans’ tombstone they’ve put Daffodils
And tulips, looking like any Easter Card decoration. Born in 1805,
Died in 1875. Snow queens, angels, goblins, elves, storks, teapots
And ugly ducklings don’t seem to have anything to do with this pretty
Graveyard. But it gives you a bit of momentum, a bit of inspiration,
To try and have achieved something before you perish yourself.
Maybe try and do something before you die to perhaps have your own
Bones nestle in a similar place somewhere on this sublime continent?
You figure you might try a museum next. And there’s a castle along
The way so you can see that too.
Heading along in that direction you come across a bunch of kids
Out playing on the street. Are they high school kids? They play
With basketballs and footballs and they shriek and shout with that inner
Value of youth. It’s a week day after all and so they must be on their
Lunch break from the school. Do you wish you were as young
As them? Not really because you remember the agony of adolescence.
And yet, these days when you look across at the car reflections in Europe
You see your white hair and your tired face and you’re always on your
Own and thus you don’t really feel young anymore: and all the folks
In the hotels you stay in are either way younger than you or far older,
And thus you don’t seem to belong to a particular age bracket.
But, meh, oh well, whatever. You’re still alive and that’s what counts.
On the upper scores of the buildings are random chunks of letters
That resemble steampunk videogames from the 1990s, or graphic novels
From the 1980s: and it’s remarkable how those concepts will have influenced
Such phenomena in modernity, right there, illegally splayed on the roofs
Of the city centre houses. …
You get to the castle. There are spike gates in front of a long meadow
Leading up to the building. In the foreground of the fortress are a band
Of soldiers in boots and fancy hats, playing music. A big brass band.
Pumping out crowd-pleasers with their fat drums, trumpets and blushed faces.
They seem to be performing to nobody in particular save the gabble
Of tourists picking photos from 200 yards outside the gates.
But they still do the music pretty well. Have to hand it to them.
The other side of the street there are a couple of Danish men getting drunk
On one of the benches. They drink from green cans and have sweaty faces
And the bigger man sings something to you as you pass. Not intimidating,
Though: only merry rather than offensive. … …
Okay so here’s the museum. History museum. With a mix of cultural and artistic
Regalia from within Denmark and across Europe and northern Africa.
There are respectable ladies at Reception.
They give you a key to stack your bag, and then you head upstairs, going to
The top floor. As you ascend, the light diminishes and all grows dark, and
As you head unto the showrooms, it’s like being a kid again going on a school
Trip, when you’re in a new environment, and it’s humid and there are these
Glass boxes blooming in the darkness. … Maps, diagrams, histories of warfare,
Ancient coins, ancient knives and pistols. They’re all real and so you wonder
Whether they ever killed anybody.
There’s a whole region dedicated to Islamic history. The empires that ranged across
A mammoth wedge of two continents, that spanned between Spain and Persia.
And so you read the snippets of writing under each display. They all seem to
Acknowledge violence as the cursor for history????????????????????????????????
When you go downstairs you see the other floors. They are filled with Danish
Pottery, in milky whites and blue, these china pots and plates that you would
Fear dropping on the floor if you ever held them. … Whilst you’re walking
About, a woman with a museum uniform on comes and asks you to tie your
Coat around your waste. “Okay, that’s fine,” you say. … You explore the rest
Of the floors. Then you figure to head back to the hotel.
Whence outside of the museum the clouds have overtaken the sky and there
Seems premonition in the grey dyes of them.
Head back to the hotel for just now and perhaps a night walk later on?

For the soft prompts can I ask for Eddie calling Buck pretty? Like idk they’re in an established real shop and maybe buck is gross from the end of a hard shift or he’s having a bad day or whatever and Eddie just looks at him or something
hi hi! thank you for the prompt, and I hope you enjoy :)
Eddie loves being a firefighter. Even when he has a shift that’s hard or depressing, he can take solace in the fact that he’s making a difference in the world, helping people. But every so often, a shift comes along that just sucks the morale out of everyone. A shift where the calls are dumb and the people are angry and there’s barely enough downtime to decompress before the alarm goes off again.
Today, unfortunately, was one of those days.
The cherry on top of the shitty shift had been their last call that pushed them into overtime: responding to a car that had somehow managed to go over the barriers on Wilshire Blvd and end up in MacArthur Park Lake. Buck had been first out of the engine, wading out through less-than-pristine water (the seagulls were out in full force today) to get to the car. The driver had clearly been on something and was none too pleased about being extracted from his vehicle, even though it was mostly submerged. Before the rest of the team could get out there, the driver took a swing at Buck that had Buck stumbling backwards to avoid it. Something under the water made him stumble, and then Buck was pinwheeling his arms as he crashed backwards into the water.
Buck had only been underwater for a handful of seconds, but Eddie’s heart was in his throat the entire time. Sloshing through the water made it hard to get anywhere quickly; Eddie picked up his pace nonetheless. The driver was just lucky that Ravi and Chim made it to him first, so Eddie could direct his help to pulling a spluttering Buck up out of the water.
The ride back to the station is subdued. Everyone’s tired, not in the mood for smalltalk after such a demoralizing shift. On Eddie’s right, Buck has crammed himself as close to the side of the engine as possible, as if trying to keep the dirty water dripping from his uniform from getting on anyone else. Privately, Eddie doesn’t know why Buck is bothering; they’re going to dump their uniforms in the laundry as soon as they get home anyway, but Buck is radiating such intense don’t-touch-me energy that Eddie just has to grit his teeth and bear it for the moment.
When they finally arrive back at the station, they all file exhaustedly out of the engine. Bobby gives a short, somewhat lacklustre speech about shaking off frustrating shifts, and then they all make a beeline for the locker room. Hen, Chimney and Ravi are gone within two minutes, not even bothering to change and instead just grabbing their bags out of their lockers and practically sprinting for the parking lot.
Once everyone else is gone, Eddie turns to Buck, who’s been slowly peeling out of his soaked clothes in the corner. “You wanna shower here or at home?”
Buck’s button-up lands on the floor with a splat. “Here. I don’t want this smell in your truck.”
After he shucks out of his pants, he scurries off to the showers in his boxers and undershirt. Eddie briefly considers grabbing a plastic bag from the kitchen for Buck’s clothes, but decides instead to follow him. He knows the shift was disheartening, but the little rain cloud of gloom that’s been hanging over Buck’s head since he fell in the water has Eddie mildly concerned.
Eddie finds Buck in front of the far shower stall, frowning down at the cheap shampoo and conditioner that Eddie knows he hates using. Making sure to keep his steps a little heavy so that Buck hears him coming, Eddie walks up behind him and winds his arms around Buck’s waist. It’s a little more PDA than is strictly workplace-appropriate, given that Buck is basically in his underwear, but somehow Eddie doubts that Bobby would give them grief for it today. After a few seconds, Eddie feels Buck relax slightly, leaning back against him.
“Eddie, I’m disgusting,” Buck says, but the protest is half-hearted at best.
And, look, logically Eddie knows that Buck’s talking about himself in this specific moment, still dripping and smelling of stale water – but Eddie also knows that Buck’s insecurities still pop up sometimes when they’re least expected, and Eddie will never pass up an opportunity to reassure his boyfriend.
“Nah,” Eddie says, squeezing him round the middle. “You’re pretty.”
Buck blinks, scoffs a little, but Eddie doesn’t miss the way the back of his neck goes red. “I’m literally covered in bird shit water.”
“I mean, I’m not gonna pretend this is the best you’ve ever smelled, but.” Eddie shrugs, smiles. “You’re still pretty.”
Buck turns around in his arms and, yep, Buck’s face is definitely flushed, “Oh yeah? You hot for me or something?”
Eddie rolls his eyes playfully. “You finally figure that out after eleven months?”
He leans in, but before he can prove just how serious about this he is, Buck stops him with a gentle hand in the centre of his chest.
“Okay, okay, I believe you,” Buck says, chuckling. “And I also love you too much to risk you getting some weird bird flu if you kiss me when I’m like this.”
“Fair point,” Eddie concedes, and lets Buck go. “Better hurry up and rinse off. And then I’ll show you just how hot I am for you when we get home.”
“’Kay,” Buck grins dopily. And then he’s scrambling out of the rest of his clothes, nearly tripping as he gets his feet tangled in his boxers in his haste.
Eddie snorts at Buck’s eagerness, but he won’t tease him for it. Not today. As Buck bangs the shower door closed behind him, Eddie begins removing his own uniform. His shirt is slightly rank from the hug, but they have to do laundry anyway. And besides, a little smell is more than worth it to see Buck smile.
