_______
Did you know that the Lafayette Theater in Suffern is Rockland’s only single-screen movie palace? In operation since 1924, it marks its 100th anniversary this year!
With special guest Ari Benmosche and Craig Long, we turned our attention to history of the Lafayette Theater, what Suffern was like a century ago, and learned about the ongoing festivities celebrating this landmark anniversary. The festivities—“100 Years of Film,” showcasing classic movies from the 1910s to the 2010s—will run until March 3, 2024.
Learn more about the “100 Years of Film” celebration at https://lafayettetheatersuffern.com.

Crossroads of Rockland History, a program of the Historical Society of Rockland County, airs on the third Monday of each month at 9:30 am, right after the Jeff and Will morning show, on WRCR Radio 1700 AM and www.WRCR.com. Join host Clare Sheridan as we explore, celebrate, and learn about our local history, with different topics and guest speakers every month.
The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. Its headquarters are a four-acre site featuring a history museum and the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House in New City, New York.

Gosh, where do I even begin, this really is just a beautiful work of art, the composition & production, lyricism, and storytelling is so beautifully done....
We get so many multidimensional characters, we get to experience the story from different perspectives...
I love how he uses the music to complement the atmosphere, feeling, and emotions of a scene. This is something I've noticed in some of his other work as well...
What I love the most about the lyricism is how there's a constant repetition of certain lyrics that relate to certain characters, like with 'wait for it' with Aaron Burr or 'I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory' with Alexander Hamilton or the constant 'Aaron Burr, sir'. It really adds to the element of continuity of the story, like a character could feel a certain way right now and still feel that way in a few years or could still relate to that feeling in a few years...
It makes the characters seem more human, and really helps you remember that these were real life people, who had real feelings, makes them seem all the more vulnerable...
Like, I get why it took 7 years to create, something as amazing as this could only be done intentionally...
Lin Manuel Miranda really is a genius, you know, the type that only shows up like once in a century, that is if mankind is lucky....
In conclusion, it's a 10/10...

I got sucked into Hamilton again, and ill forever be upset how America declined to help France during their revolution...
But then again i understand they were not that strong back then, a newly born nation, im just really sad for Lafayette (especially here on the musical)
Like the poor man (along the other french that helped during the american revolution) risked his life for america, then went and fought for france, had to flee, got imprisoned in austria(?) then have an assassination attempt happen to him 😭
Anyways, why am i even getting emotional here when i dont even live in either countries😪
