Ostinato (update)
(commissioned artwork of Lachlan Shepard and Kaidan Alenko by @me1onmi1k)
Guess who started whispering into my ear today!
Going through some old (and I mean OLD!) prompts to see what I can come up with! (so old I can't even find the original ask for it!)
Prompt: In the moonlight/celebration
On AO3 in full here
OTP: The Music Lives On found here
Excerpt:
Lachlan once heard that night skies are the best skies because they hold secret and safe the stories of the different worlds they envelope. He’s been under many night skies over the years. The double moons of Mindoir. Terra Nova for one night before all hell broke loose. The unpolluted darkness out at the Alenko orchard. Numerous other worlds over the years of serving with the Alliance.
But the night sky of Elysium, at this moment in time, is the most brilliant and beautiful and he never wants to forget it.
A heavy glass clinks lightly with ice as it’s pressed into his hand and the peaty aroma tickles his nose. Smiling, Lachlan leans back as his husband’s arm wraps around him and he sighs softly, humming his appreciation. Kaidan clinks their glasses together, laughter filling Lachlan’s ears. “To us.”
“Hmm. To us.” Lachlan straightens to sip his drink, savoring the taste as he continues to look up at the star-lit sky. Turning, he rests his hips against the balcony railing and focuses his gaze on Kaidan. “D’you ever think about how damned lucky we are?”

It was their own network's news division that was pathetic, she wrote.
"THEY AREN'T SMART," Ingraham emphasized, "and they've broken the last four years' agreement.
On Nov. 13, 2020, the conversation was included among thousands of pages of recently released documents related to Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox for its post-election reporting, and much of what was uncovered ultimately may have little bearing on whether Fox will be judged guilty of libel.
Instead, the material offers insight into how Fox's stars and leadership responded at a time of high anxiety and how giving its audience what it wanted to hear took precedence over reporting uncomfortable revelations, which has bolstered critics who say Fox News Channel should be considered a propaganda network rather than a news outlet.
Yet while Fox's news side has seen the prominent defections of Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace in recent years, it still employs many respected journalists, such as Jennifer Griffin, Greg Palkot, John Roberts, Shannon Bream, Bryan Llenas, Jacqui Heinrich, and Chad Pergram.
They're left to wonder whether the raft of recent stories about Fox—from the Dominion documents and from Carlson's use of U.S. Capitol security video to craft his own narrative of Jan. 6, 2021—will make their jobs more difficult and make fewer people want to work with them because of the dominance of Fox's opinion side, which says it has increased its investment in journalism by more than 50% under Suzanne Scott, Fox News Media CEO, and usually leads its rivals in ratings during major breaking news stories.
"We are incredibly proud of our team of journalists who continue to deliver breaking news from around the world and will continue to fight for the preservation of the First Amendment," the network said in offering a stern network election night declaration that Joe Biden had won in Arizona, ahead of any other news organization, infuriating its viewers who were sympathetic to former President Donald Trump's claims of significant voter fraud even if, then as now, there has been no evidence of that.
After she covered a Nov. 19 news conference with Trump lawyer Rudolph Giuliani, then-Fox reporter Kristin Fisher said her boss in Washington, Bryan Boughton, called to say he was unhappy with her report and said she was told she needed to do a better job of "respecting our audience," according to documents released in "I believed that I was respecting our audience by telling them the truth," Fisher, who now works at CNN, testified in a deposition on the Dominion case.
She later claimed that airtime was taken away from her in retaliation and drew the ire of Fox opinion hosts by tweeting a fact-check on some of Trump's claims in a Carlson interview, in which he profanely said she should be fired; Fox said she was later promoted to White House correspondent.
"She has serious nerve doing this," Fox publicity chief Irena Briganti said in an internal memo released among the court papers, "and if this gets picked up, viewers of the Nov. 14 text conversation with Scott and Lachlan Murdoch, the executive chairman and CEO of Fox Corp., will talk about how a Trump rally should be covered on the network."
"News guys have to be careful how they cover this rally," Murdoch said so far some of the side comments have been slightly anti, and they shouldn't be the narrative; they should be this huge celebration of the other, whom he called Fox correspondent Leland Vittert "smug and obnoxious and who now works at NewsNation.
A week after the election, a Fox Corp. senior executive, Raj Shah, said in a memo that "bold, clear, and decisive action is needed for us to begin to regain the trust that we're losing with our argues, as part of its lawsuit, that nervousness about what its viewers wanted to lead Fox to air allegations that the voting machine company was complicit in fraud that hurt even though many people at the network didn't believe his own deposition, Fox founder Rupert Murdoch agreed the election had been fair and it "was not stolen."
Fox counters that it was airing newsworthy charges made by the president and his followers over the Arizona backlash spreading to the news division, according to news anchor Bret Baier, who said defending the call made him uncomfortable and suggested instead awarding the state, also sending a memo saying he’d been getting "major heat" over the decision.
In 2012, Fox stood strongly behind its decision desk when network commentator and veteran GOP aide Karl Rove questioned its correct call that Barack Obama had won in Ohio, essentially assuring him of reelection against Republican Mitt a memorable television moment, Megyn Kelly marched down the hall to hear the decision desk's explanation for why the call was made.
Eight years later, signs of timidity at Fox appeared in the days after its Arizona call. When other news organizations ultimately declared Biden the president-elect on Saturday morning after the election, Fox waited about 15 days until Nov. 20, 2020, before Rupert Murdoch discussed with Scott in a private memo whether two Washington executives key to the Arizona race call should be fired, saying it would send a "big message" to Trump allies executives Bill Sammon and Chris Stirewalt, who lost their jobs two months later.
A Fox spokeswoman characterized the discussions about the Arizona call as part of a typical postmortem that happens after big news events, and Fox stood by its call even though Sammon and Stirewalt were consultants for Arnon Mishkin, who has run its decision desk for the 2024 election and is answerable to corporate bosses and noted in her deposition that she considered herself a television producer.
"I don't consider myself a journalist," said the head of consider myself a TV executive; hire journalists; hire news Fox News Channel chief Roger Ailes wasn't a journalist either; his background was some longtime Fox watchers; though, Ailes recognized that Fox's opinion side drew strength from a solid news side, and he kept stronger barriers between the two.
Some of the information revealed in recent weeks illustrates how, in many ways, Fox has become less of an agenda-setter than an outlet that follows its audience, said Nicole Hemmer, a Vanderbilt University professor and author of an article in which Fox management has talked about the Dominion case to its journalists, leaving some wondering whether anyone is standing up for them, said one Fox journalist, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of professional retribution.
In a brief filed Friday, Fox said that many of the exhibits that Dominion has introduced were internal communications, "often inflammatory and headline-grabbing, but irrelevant to any issue in dispute is some fine journalism still being done at Fox News today," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, citing the transition of "Fox News Sunday" from Wallace to Bream.
"The fallout from the Dominion case, however, leaves open the question of whether Fox journalists will be allowed to do their jobs unconstrained, so it would be useful for Fox News, at this point, to make a clear statement that the news division has complete and total autonomy and that a clear line is drawn between it and the rest of Fox," Jamieson said.

prompt fill; “do not tempt me”
the second prompt fill for @maxrev!! thank you <3
for loch and kaidan
72. “Do not tempt me.”
Kaidan is man of patience, if nothing else, but even now it’s beginning to wear thin. He just rubs at his temples with a sigh, looking at Lachlan - now sprawled out, face down on the floor surrounded by the remainder of the day’s activities. Crayons, random gadgets, a particularly freaky looking stuffed toy, and the main culprit of the evening: the Lego brick that Loch had just fallen victim to.
Babysitting had been a learning curve, that’s for sure. Not one that either of them particularly wanted, but they got it regardless, and Kaidan has a slight suspicion it may have been a little more than Lachlan had bargained for.
“I feel like we’ve had our quota of tantrums for the day, Loch.” Kaidan sighs wearily, hands dropping to rest at his hips. Loch barely moves, mumbling something into the floor that Kaidan doesn’t have a hope in hell of understanding.
A beat of silence later, and Loch seems to realize his words aren’t getting anywhere. He turns, just slightly, and speaks again.
“I’m not having a tantrum. I’m recovering.”
Kaidan resists the urge to snort, and hides a smile by rubbing tiredly at his face instead.
“Recovering? From the Lego you stepped on?” Kaidan nudges the offending piece of Lego with his foot, before nudging Loch’s leg in turn.
“Yes.”
Kaidan smiles again when his nudging receives a pathetic kick of protest from Loch, and he crouches down next to him instead, resting a hand gently in the dip of his back.
“Lachlan.” Kaidan begins, waiting for Loch to turn his head so he can see him, “I can always put you in timeout.”
“Do it. I fuckin’ dare you.” Loch’s still grumbling, but Kaidan is far too amused to take any offense, his laughter bubbling up into his words.
“Don’t tempt me. There’s a step right over there you can sit on and think about what you’ve done.” Kaidan grins wider when Loch finally cracks a faint smirk, almost out of view. He sits back, legs starting to ache, and tilts his head in question at Loch’s indignant stare.
“Ass.” Loch snickers, his voice wavering with telltale amusement, and he finally rolls over onto his back, looking up at Kaidan with his usual crooked smile. Kaidan would be quite content to sit and stare, and he would, if they didn’t have an entire apartment to clean up now that they’ve manage to put Loch’s nephews to bed after one hell of a tantrum.
“My sister better appreciate how much wear and tear I’ve dealt with in one day because of her tiny spies.” Loch groans, and as much as Kaidan’s enjoying the ridiculous poking and prodding, he can hear how tired Lachlan is, and he decides he’ll let him off.
“Spies?” Kaidan quirks an eyebrow, all too used to Loch’s strange sense of humour by now.
“Oh, yeah, they’re totally writing up a mission report in there right now. She’ll get it tomorrow. Then she’ll have my head for letting them eat two bowls of ice-cream, each.”
Kaidan finds himself laughing, again, as he always does in Loch’s company, and it’s never an unwelcome thing. Granted, he didn’t exactly stop Loch from doling out the ice-cream after dinner, but it was kind of cute. Very cute. Cute enough to ignore, in fact.
“So worth it, though.” Kaidan sighs fondly, absently running a hand along Lachlan’s chest, enjoying the gentle rhythm of his heartbeat. Sure, it’s been a long day, but it’s a day he’ll keep close to heart for a long time.
“Was it?” Loch sits up slowly, a curious glint to his eyes when he looks at Kaidan next, and Kaidan simply nods.
“Yeah. It’s nice to see you with your family.” Kaidan admits, and he means it entirely. If there’s one thing he learnt from the war, it was the importance of family, and how quickly it can slip out of reach. He’s had time enough to grieve, years have gone since then, but there’s still a flicker of regret left behind. Regret that he didn’t spend the time with them that he should’ve, even if it was out of his control. Alliance duty wasn’t exactly kind or sympathetic, but... it stings, regardless.
There’s a quietness in the room now, and in makes Kaidan feel cold in the same way he does on sleepless nights when his regrets plague him.
“You know, you’re there for them as much as I am.” Lachlan’s voice is quiet too, but a gentler kind of quiet. Soothing. It compels Kaidan to listen. “And... it’s like that because I want you to be. I wouldn’t have agreed to all those fuckin’ stressful days of babysitting otherwise.”
A shared laugh, a knowing smile.
“If I had even a single-- just, a single shred of doubt about you, then this wouldn’t have happened. And I know it’s tough, losing someone the way you did.” Kaidan swallows at that, memories of past conversations surfacing. Lachlan knew exactly how he felt. “But whatever we lost, we gained much more down the line, didn’t we?”
Kaidan knows that much to be true. Looking at Lachlan now, he wouldn’t change a thing, and that says it all for him.
“Yeah,” Kaidan agrees, resting his forehead against Loch’s, exhaustion starting to catch up with him from the day, and beyond that still - that war will never leave him as long as he lives, but he’s not alone in that and he knows that now, “We did.”

🌱 🔮 🎵 🐱
[ 🌱 ] what themes are relevant to your muse?
The biggest theme with Oron is loss, grief, revenge and what happens after someone experiences something like that. I've experienced a loss that has hit really hard and when grieving, it feels like it won't end and to an extent it doesn't end but it does get easier.
[ 🔮 ] what is your muse’s relationship with religion and spirituality? were they raised in a certain religion? have they stuck with the same set of spiritual beliefs all their life, or have they changed over time? are they settled in their spirituality now?
Oron does believe that there is a heaven and hell, he believes that his family is in heaven, looking down and watching him. However, he doesn't think he will reach there himself due to his sins. He doesn't really believe in god or Christ or any other religious figure.
His father was a pretty average Christian father, he took Oron and his sister to church. That is where his beliefs in heaven and hell came from. When he joined the military, he kind of dropped a lot of his beliefs.
[ 🎵 ] is there a specific song or songs you associate with your muse? why is that?
After Dark - Mr. Kitty - You know why CJ LMAO
Cyberpunk 2077 - A New Dawn Fades - Love this track and it helps me get the brainrot. Same with Been Good to Know Ya from Cyberpunk 2077
Down Under - Men At Work - For obvious reasons but I love how Australian this song is and I just see Oron blasting this in a jeep while driving through the outback!
What I've Done - Linkin Park - Kinda fits with his whole situation and the lyrics pretty much get it spot on more than any other song.
[ 🐱 ] does your muse have pets? did they have pets as a child? how do they feel about animals?
Oron did have a doggo, an Australian Shepard but Lachlan killed the beloved pet when he went after the family. He loves animals though, all kinds! Being a rural kid, he's interacted with a lot of wildlife like Kangaroos and has had a couple of run ins with snakes.

Going forward, though, Lachlan is in a trap. He can't simply issue a directive to temper the pro-Trump coverage to win back advertisers and calm restive reporters, because he would risk antagonizing the network's most important viewer: Trump. That happened in March when Fox suspended Jeanine Pirro for delivering an offensive monologue questioning Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar's patriotism. Trump quickly criticized Fox and lashed out at Fox journalists, tweeting: “Were @FoxNews weekend anchors, @ArthelNeville and @LelandVittert, trained by CNN prior to their ratings collapse? In any event, that's where they should be working, along with their lowest rated anchor, Shepard Smith!” He implored Fox to “keep fighting for Tucker”—Media Matters had uncovered a series of offensive statements Tucker Carlson had made while calling in to Bubba the Love Sponge's radio show—“and fight hard for @JudgeJeanine.”

Mantel of Flames Theory
So with everything that is going down in the game so far. I have some theories/ predictions for the campaign and where its going in the future. Two years we’ve been going strong but we all know, soon, with just a few more arcs. 3 in total, from my understanding. Then this epic story comes to an end and the world our characters leave behind will shape the world for our next campaign.
So with that in mind, I have a few predictions for upcoming events.
God of being an Asshole
Tiamat and her dragons are going to be double crossed by Tharizdun and his cult. Tiamat is gonna take the brunt of the forces attacks and dragons will become even rarer as a result. She will be cast back into her prison, one way or another because I don’t believe Tharizdun will honor his word in letting them rule together. Everyone will be double crossed by him. Especially if Church and State fails their mission.
Tiamat’s Angles
I also have to wonder where the hell are Tiamat’s angles are. Tharizdun’s are the Vassals we’ve encountered but we’ve only seen 3. What happened to the other 3? It’s not that I want to fight even more fallen angles, but I want to. Also, I want to take out the threat wholly and completely. Hunting down each and every last one. Burning books to prevent these sealed gods from ever having a chance to step onto the mortal world. Who knows what the solution is to that question. Is it even possible to kill a god?
This part isn’t so much a prediction as it is a question. I think I remember Disaster Master saying something about Tiamat’s angles having already disappeared. Which brings up some interesting questions if that’s the case. Like, how did Tharidun’s make it so long and can this type of method be used to bring angles back? Or changing up some of the things?
Alistair’s Arc
Alistair is going to lose his kids. Be it one or all, Ali is going to lose them. He's gonna be unable to save his babies from his brothers. I also believe that Alistair can at least talk some reason into Ram. Unlike Lachlan, Ram does have a heart and is a real good guy. I think the kid most at risk is Magnus or Lilith. Magnus because he’s roaming and has encountered Torm followers before. Sure he has a guardian with him but they won’t be able to hold their own against Ram and Lach. Lilith is at risk just because she is so close to Alistair and where their home base is at the moment. But Lilith has more protection going for her. She has her team, school, close contact with the princes and the lead high guard in training. I doubt Mordred would let either Ram or Lach from kidnapping her. The twin boys are also at big risk but Maev and Morgan are watching over them. Alistair is going to have a rough time and at one point will transform. Bros will take it as some sort of sign. Given his transformation is White, Gold and a Pink/Purple creature and Bight Blue eyes. Close to Torm’s colors and a complete opposite to how Alistair normally looks. They will absolutely not see it coming. At least I hope not, cause that would mean they’ve been close and stalking the group for quite some time. That in of itself is a scary thought.
Canary’s Blade Quest
She won’t kill Ryder but she will end up killing his gang members. Ryder is going to be heavily wounded/ maimed. He will be back and expose where the Shepard Ranch is which will spell disaster for the whole group. Emotionally, it’ll wreck everyone. How I think Ryder will do this, is by bugging on of Church and State with a magical tracker. Or something. Cause, sure, the Keep is relatively guarded, the city has defensives but the ranch home? It’s wide open for an attack, if it’s an onslaught, I don’t think even the angles could defend their babies if they brought down the fucking hammer.
Strong Hold near Blue Harbor
Just a random thought hit me, we know where the enemy stronghold is- or at least one. It’s where reports of other Forerunners have been created. This is something that is in dire need of investigating and swift handling. Try and weaken the enemies as much as possible for out big show down. But why do I get the sinking feeling we are gonna for sure, have to at least face down Tiamat’s seal breaking. Do to it being the weaker of the two and with her have the ‘stronger’ forces aka the fucking beyond ancient dragons.
I think this is we’re our first break out move will be and be the place that we’ll get to see if the Black Dragon we helped will join our side or not. I think it’ll have our big confrontation with at least one of the fallen angles. My guess the fallen angels that holds onto Althea’s soul and it’ll be Canary who must take it out. A big reminder is that we only have one shot with the blades. Three angles and three who have earned the right to wield them once in battle. We will be forced to ration out and choose which PC goes against which Fallen Angle.
After the fight against the Strong Hold, we will then experience a massive counter attack. Which could cost us some of our NPC friends. Toxin and Waren being the most likely to fall during this assault. In my opinion. They will be trying to kill the other Fallen Angle’s proxies as many times as possible to speed things up and restore their power faster. Seeing as we’ve killed one angle. We will also have to be on high alert for assassins and shady traps because they have lots of connections and will be trying to eliminate us.
The End
Marion and Ceric will have an epilog of marriage and their kiddos/ descendants will be in the next campaign. Given that we win and both make it through the final stretch of Mantle of Flames. (I honestly hope we have a cute little epilogue and that’s one of the scenes, those two are absolutely diabetes. Big fucking wedding of just yes) Even if the world ends, fucking get married in heaven. Doesn’t matter, their cuteness shall be eternal.
I look forward to seeing what the epilogues hold for us at the end of Mantle of Flames. I’m so excited that this is soon coming to a grand conclusion. When we end this arc (Althaea’s) I cant wait to see what our “Else where” description is. Hinting at troubles ahead. Cause I absolutely love those things.
Half angles will be protected, at least by Alistair and his cult. Ali really doesn’t want to kill any of the half angles, despite what anyone hast to say. Striving towards erasing the idea they are abominations but a strong symbol between morals and the devine. (At least that’s what Alistair will push) Symbols of unconditional love and a promise that the moral plane is not simply a playground for the gods. Cause all the half angles are just good bois! It’s a worthy cause to get behind- same with ending slavery... that’s something Church and State also have to do.
I also think there’s going to be some sort of... I’m not quite sure what to call it but, the Church and State crew will have a significant mark on history. I don’t think I’d be like becoming gods ourselves, but perhaps some sort of lore. For fucks sake we’re going to slay angles. Be it for our failure or our victory. I wanna see how we’re going to affect next campaign! (I already have so many ideas for my next character for the next campaign)
Revenge
The nymphs are totally going to rat and inform the Wardien brothers of Alistair were about and who’s he's been in contact with. IE, Church and State. Canary and Althea is sort of our secret weapon because they weren’t present. Also, Ali is totally going to tell her how and where the Nymphs are... if she's like some help... getting even... after all this. Rats get bats after all. Unfortunate for this group of Numphs to unwittingly step into the wrathful crosshairs.
Welp, that’s what I believe we’ll have to experience in the future. Some of it is vague but as well continue onwards I’ll get more specific and see what predictions are right or not.

Oh, I have some siblings I would love to write for!
Serafina/Sean MacKinnon (Dragon Age)
Ashleigh/David/Mikhail/Kaycey Shepard-Alenko (Serafina Shepard's kids with Kaidan)(Mass Effect)
Kaidan and Kandra Alenko (Mass Effect)
Iain and Lachlan Shepard (Mass Effect)
Kristofer and his as yet unnamed older sister Shepard (Mass Effect)
Hi! I see A LOT of otp prompts on tumblr but it's so hard to find platonic ones. If you don't mind, do you think you can make some sibling and parental prompts?
Thanks 🍒
HI :)
Here are some prompts and some dialogue for siblings and then parents. (I know you requested found family in another ask as well, but I will come to it later under that ask.)
Siblings Prompts
teasing and bantering on a daily basis
importance of being the older one
not wanting to be compared to each other by parents, teachers, etc.
secretly kinda comparing themselves
a lot of inside jokes
getting each other just by looking at each other
sitting next to each other and sending each other memes and texting this is you
annoying each other but loving each other dearly
knowing when the other one is down and trying to annoy them just to get their mind of what made them sad or anxious
Dialogue
“I will go first. I’m the older one!” “You don’t have to tell me, everyone can see that.”
“Oh, you really messed up. Can I be there when you tell mom and dad?”
“That’s not what you wrote in your diary...”
“And this is why mom loves me more.”
“Oh, you think you’re so funny, aren’t you?”
“Mom! They don’t want to give me the remote!” “You’re both in your twenties, learn to handle it yourself!”
Existing prompts
Babysitting your younger sister is hard enough in itself. But when your sister is not like normal kids and it’s possible that she could just float away like a helium-filled balloon, it’s hell. (#296)
Write a story about playing Mario Cart. Against friends, family or strangers. Extra points for using absurd insults against the other contestants. (#13)
What had started as a friendly game of Simon Says quickly turned into a complete and utter disaster. (#398)
Parent Prompts
kids falling asleep in the car on the way home and their parents don’t want to wake them up
wanting another child but not knowing how the first one reacts
going to the grocery store with that many kids is a challenge
being the loudest and proudest parent at their kid’s game
having an argument but can’t staying mad at each other for longer than a few minutes
child is just hugging the parent, murmuring sorry
knowing how important it is to say sorry to your child, when the parent was wrong
basically adopting all their kid’s friends, the more the merrier
an important decision has to be made and they want to know the child’s opinion
Dialogue
“Isn’t that the girl you keep talking about?” “Mom!”
“You’re good old dad is not here to embarrass you. I’m just here to eat cake with your friends and tell dad jokes.”
“You can tell me everything, you know that, right? I will not judge you.”
“It’s great that you want to become a princess when you’re older, Honey. But even future monarchs have to eat their vegetables.”
“I talked to the mom of that boy you think is so cute...”
“Tell me what happened.”
“Oh, how cute! Is it a boy or a girl.” “It’s a child.”
“I’d come for you”, he said. “No matter what, when you need me, I will be there.” (#138)
“Mom! I’m an internationally feared super villain!” “Sure, of course you are, sweetie.” (#92)
Other existing prompts
She’s the kind of Mom who just knows when it’s the worst time to come in. (#202)
“Hi.” “Hi? I have to find out that my dad is not my real dad, that I was living a lie my whole life and that my father is a strange man and then I meet the strange man and everything he has to say is ‘Hi’?” (#331)
Have fun!

WIP Whenever
I was tagged by @mtreebeardiles - thank you so much, friend! <3
Have had a low-grade migraine most of the day, though it started to shake loose with a violent sneezing attack (thank you nail file dust! lol) a couple hours ago. Hoping to get to editing Rhys and Kaidan maybe later tonight.
So, in the meantime, and maybe to sort of celebrate that I actually, FINALLY, started a real playthrough for him, here's a bit of Lachlan and Kaidan...
“What do you want me to say?” Kaidan stays where he is, maintaining the distance between them. “Was I worried how you might react? Yeah, actually, I was. Seeing you walk through that door with your gun raised at the Council? At me? I’d be a fool not to.” “So, you didn’t trust me?” His hands ball into fists at his sides, torn by irrational anger fueled by fear and the knowledge of how things might have ended. Should have ended had you not lowered your pistol. And you call me the stubborn one! But the thing that frightens him most about the entire situation is he has absolutely no idea what he would have done had Kaidan not lowered his pistol. And that is what hurts most. “Of course, I trust you! I never would have married you had I not!” “Then why didn’t you then? In that moment?” Kaidan runs a hand through his hair, turning away, pacing a little on his side of the room. Finally bracing his hands against the side of the empty bed, he stares back over at Lachlan. “You know me, Lach,” he says quietly, voice low and barely audible. “I…get lost inside my own head.” Lachlan inhales sharply. “And you chose that moment to –” “I didn’t choose it, it chose me. I wanted to believe you, I did.” Lowering his head, Kaidan shakes it back and forth. “You and the others standing there, weapons raised against the Council, Udina spouting all of his nonsense…I needed a minute to sort it out.”

Why Does Fox News Support Republicans
New Post has been published on https://www.patriotsnet.com/why-does-fox-news-support-republicans/
Why Does Fox News Support Republicans
False Claims About The 2020 Election
Alabama columnist: What does support of Moore do to the GOP?
After Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election, Fox News promoted baseless allegations that voting machine company Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems had conspired to rig the election for Joe Biden. Hosts Jeanine Pirro, Lou Dobbs and promoted the allegations on their programs on sister network Fox Business. In December 2020, Smartmatic sent a letter to Fox News demanding retractions and threatening legal action. However, Pirro, Dobbs, and Bartiromo refused to issue retractions as they played a three-minute video segment consisting of an interview with an election technology expert who refuted the allegations promoted by the hosts, responding to questions from an unseen and unidentified man. In February 2021, Smartmatic filed a $2.7 billion defamation suit against the network and the three hosts. On March 26, 2021, Dominion filed a $1.6 billion defamation suit against the network. On May 18, 2021, Fox News filed a motion to dismiss the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit, asserting a First Amendment right “to inform the public about newsworthy allegations of paramount public concern.” A Dominion lawyer said that Fox News dismissal of the lawsuit would give them “blank check” to lie.
Fox News Will Be ‘loyal Opposition’ To Biden Fox Ceo Says
Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch said Thursday that it is the job of Fox News to serve as the opposition to the Biden administration, clearly stating the political biases of a network that until 2017 billed itself as “fair and balanced.”
Speaking at a Morgan Stanley investor conference, Murdoch said Fox News stood to benefit from Biden’s presidency because the network would act as “the loyal opposition” to his administration.
“The main beneficiary of the Trump administration from a ratings point of view was MSNBC … and thats because they were the loyal opposition,” Murdoch said of the rival cable network. “Thats what our job is now with the Biden administration, and youll see our ratings really improve from here.”
A spokesperson for NBCUniversal News Group, which includes NBC News and MSNBC, said in response that “our role, and the role of any legitimate news organization whether it includes an ‘opinion section’ or not is to hold power to account, regardless of party.” Comcast NBCUniversal is the parent company of NBC News and MSNBC.
Murdoch’s remark is an on-the-record acknowledgement of something that has long been obvious to fans and critics but never stated so publicly by the executive leadership itself that Fox News is firmly aligned with Republicans and the right and intends to use its platform to fight Democrats.
There Is No Equivalent For The Left
Fox News, especially post Trump, so relentlessly and consistently praises Trump for successes, papers over failures and tries to twist them into successes, and deliberately omits anything they cannot twist. Their only criticism of the Republican party is when they perceive it to be insufficiently loyal to Trump. They talk about their enemies as evil and prize pundits that will drill their opinions of the news into their viewers over actual journalism that informs them of the facts. There isn’t really another side in mainstream media. MSNBC has strayed to the center lately, and the Washington Post, New York Times, and CNN all have a centrist, corporate bent to them, so even if they criticize Trump or Republicans, they do so sincerely, and get upset about the actions of the left just as often. Nothing in mainstream media, not even MSNBC, has ever in history had a leftwing tilt to it like Fox News has a right wing tilt, or non-mainstream sources like the Young Turks have a left-wing one. There is just nothing equivalent to Fox News in size, scope, or depth of partisanship supporting the Democrats. They have several sources that lean in their direction, but none so slavishly devoted to them as Fox News is to Trump and Republicans, and none with such a wide audience.

Fox News Channel Responses To Criticism
In June 2004, CEO Roger Ailes responded to some of the criticism with a rebuttal in an online Wall Street Journal editorial, saying that Fox News’ critics intentionally confuse opinion shows such as The O’Reilly Factor with regular news coverage. Ailes stated that Fox News has broken stories harmful to Republicans, offering, “Fox News is the network that broke George W. Bush’s DUI four days before the election” as an example, referring to Bush’s DUI charge in 1976 that had not yet been made public. The DUI story was broken by then-Fox affiliate WPXT in Portland, Maine, although Fox News correspondent Carl Cameron also contributed to the report and, in the words of National Public Radio ombudsman Alicia Shepard, Fox News “sent the story ping-ponging around the nation” by broadcasting WPXT’s coverage. WPXT News Director Kevin Kelly said that he “called Fox News in New York City to see if we were flogging a dead horse” before running the story, and that Fox News confirmed the arrest with the campaign and ran the story shortly after 6 p.m.
Former Fox News personality Eric Burns has suggested in an interview that Fox News “probably gives voice to more conservatives than the other networks. But not at the expense of liberals.” Burns justifies a higher exposure of conservatives by saying that other media often ignore conservatives.
Fox News personalities have also taken part in back and forth disagreements with media personalities such as Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
Who First Buried The Dead
Anthropologist Donald Brown has studied human cultures and discovered hundreds of features shared by each and every one. Among them, every culture has its own way to honor and mourn the dead.
But who was the first? Humans or another hominin in our ancestral lineage? That answer is difficult because it is shrouded in the fog of our prehistorical past. However, we do have a candidate: Homo naledi.
Several fossils of this extinct hominin were discovered in a cave chamber at the Rising Star Cave system, Cradle of Humankind, South Africa. To access the chamber required a vertical climb, a few tight fits, and much crawling.
This led researchers to believe it unlikely so many individuals ended up there by accident. They also ruled out geological traps like cave-ins. Given the seemingly deliberate placement, some have concluded the chamber served as a Homo naledi graveyard. Others aren’t so sure, and more evidence is needed before we can definitively answer this question.

Walked A Fine Line: How Fox News Found Itself In An Existential Crisis
The rightwing channel was the first to call Arizona for Biden and Trump and his supporters have been furious ever since
It was about 11.20pm on election night when Fox News made the call. The Democratic candidate had clinched a key swing state, a win that could set them on a path to be president of the United States.
In the Fox News studio, Karl Rove, conservative panelist and longtime Republican strategist, was apoplectic. Around the country, Republican supporters were bereft. Fox News launched an immediate inquisition into its own decision, but the network stood by the call.
Barack Obama had won Ohio, defeating Mitt Romney. Obama would be sworn in as president, for the second time, on 20 January 2013.
Fast forward eight years, and Fox News found itself in a strikingly similar position on 3 November 2020. The rightwing news channel was the first to call Arizona, which has gone blue once in the past 72 years, for Joe Biden.
Donald Trump and his campaign were furious, barraging the network with a series of phone calls in an attempt to get the decision overturned. The presidents supporters were upset too.
At protests outside a vote counting center in Phoenix, Arizona, a crowd chanted: Fox News sucks!, turning their ire on a channel whose hosts Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity have spent the past four years praising Trumps almost every move or utterance.
That makes the effort to look like a news organization increasingly difficult.
Obama Administration Conflict With Fox News
In September 2009, the Obama administration engaged in a verbal conflict with Fox News. On September 20, President Obama appeared on all the major news networks except Fox News, a snub partially in response to remarks about the president by commentators Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity and general coverage by Fox News with regard to Obama’s health care proposal.Fox News Sunday hostChris Wallace called White House administration officials “crybabies” in response. Following this, a senior Obama adviser told U.S. News that the White House would never get a fair shake from Fox News.
In late September 2009, Obama senior advisor David Axelrod and Fox News founder Roger Ailes met in secret to try to smooth out tensions between the two camps without much success. Two weeks later, White House officials referred to Fox as “not a news network”. Communications director Anita Dunn claimed that, “Fox News often operates as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.” President Obama followed with, “If media is operating basically as a talk radio format, then that’s one thing, and if it’s operating as a news outlet, then that’s another,” and then-White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel stated that it was important “to not have the CNNs and the others in the world basically be led in following FNC.”

Do Hair And Fingernails Grow After Death
Nope. This is a myth, but one that does have a biological origin.
The reason hair and fingernails don’t grow after death is because new cells can’t be produced. Glucose fuels cell division, and cells require oxygen to break down glucose into cellular energy. Death puts an end to the body’s ability to intake either one.
It also ends the intaking of water, leading to dehydration. As a corpse’s skin desiccates, it pulls away from the fingernails and retracts around the face . Anyone unlucky enough to exhume a corpse could easily mistake these changes as signs of growth.
Interestingly, postmortem hair and fingernail growth provoked lore about vampires and other creatures of the night. When our ancestors dug up fresh corpses and found hair growth and blood spots around mouths , their minds naturally wandered to undeath.
Not that becoming undead is anything we need to worry about today.
Fox News Is The Republican Party
This is why Democrats’ massive spending bill could pass | FOX News Rundown
Trumpism will endure because Murdochs Fox News made that choice on behalf of the Republican Party it commands.
To see what is in front of ones nose, George Orwell wrote, is a constant struggle.
Orwells wise, timeless counsel is often lost on writers who prefer to bury the plain truth beneath a blizzard of distractions and obfuscations.
The tendency of Americas punditocracy to miss the glaring point has, once again, been on grating display in the still smouldering residue of the mad January 6 insurrection on Capitol Hill conceived, planned and executed by thousands of Donald Trumps rabid disciples who were, on cue, unleashed en foaming masse by the former president.
Beyond considering Trumps political future, the punditocracy was seized with debating the existential implications of the deadly mayhem for the Republican Party.
The quick consensus was that a reckoning was certainly in the offing. The Republican Party confronted an inflection point the media-manufactured cliché du jour that required either finally abandoning Trumpism in the wake of the bloody insurrection or continuing to embrace it.
The assumption was that the Republican Party, including its congressional leadership, would make that seminal choice. But who constitutes the Republican Party and its leadership and how would they go about deciding which path to take?
These questions were largely left adrift.
What a chilling prospect.
It is a silly, almost comical, suggestion.

False Claims About Other Media
CNN’s Jake Tapper
In November 2017, following the 2017 New York City truck attack wherein a terrorist shouted “Allahu Akbar”, Fox News distorted a statement by Jake Tapper to make it appear as if he had said “Allahu Akbar” can be used under the most “beautiful circumstances”. Fox News omitted that Tapper had said the use of “Allahu Akbar” in the terrorist attack was not one of these beautiful circumstances. A headline on FoxNews.com was preceded by a tag reading “OUTRAGEOUS”. The Fox News Twitter account distorted the statement even more, saying “Jake Tapper Says ‘Allahu Akbar’ Is ‘Beautiful’ Right After NYC Terror Attack” in a tweet that was later deleted. Tapper chastised Fox News for choosing to “deliberately lie” and said “there was a time when one could tell the difference between Fox and the nutjobs at Infowars. It’s getting tougher and tougher. Lies are lies.” Tapper had in 2009, while a White House correspondent for ABC News, come to the defense of Fox News when Obama criticized the network for not being a legitimate news organization.
Fox News guest host Jason Chaffetz apologized to Tapper for misrepresenting his statement. After Fox News had deleted the tweet, Sean Hannity repeated the misrepresentation and called Tapper “liberal fake news CNN’s fake Jake Tapper” and mocked his ratings.
The New York Times
Low Gravity And The Troughs
: University of Georgia / NASA / JPL
It has been assumed, says Cheng, that the “troughs are fault-bounded valleys with a distinct scarp on each side that together mark the down-drop of a block of rock.”
However, there is a problem with this theory. It is based on the way rocks and debris behave under the force of gravity on Earth; Vesta’s gravitational pull is far less. Indeed, Dawn found Vesta’s gravity consistent with an iron core having a 140-mile diameter; the Earth’s, by comparison, is about 2,165 miles in diameter.
Cheng notes that “rock can also crack apart and form such troughs, an origin that has not been considered before. Our calculations also show that Vesta’s gravity is not enough to induce surrounding stresses favorable for sliding to occur at shallow depths. Instead, the physics shows that rocks there are favored to crack apart.”
Cheng summarizes, “Taken all together, the overall project provides alternatives to the previously proposed trough origin and geological history of Vesta, results that are also important for understanding similar landforms on other small planetary bodies elsewhere in the solar system.”
So while still consistent with the prevailing theory that the impacts resulted in the troughs, the researchers suggest that they did not cause landslides on Vesta. The impacts cracked it.

Down In The Polls Trump Seeks Familiar Embrace Of Conservative Media
The president considers many Fox News figures among his closest advisers. These include Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Jeanine Pirro and others. He has drawn from the ranks of Fox contributors to fill senior White House appointments and even considered stars for Cabinet positions. And they, in turn, have been ferocious in relaying the president’s baseless claims, winning his frequent appearances on their programs and stratospheric ratings in response.
Earlier this year, Fox News stars helped whip up protests in opposition to shutdowns related to COVID-19 and orders to wear masks. Fox News stars stoked potential scandals involving Biden’s son Hunter based on unauthenticated reports from Murdoch’s New York Post material Fox’s own reporters largely could not validate.
As one small sign of the ways in which Fox and Trump Republicans can orchestrate programming, on Friday evening, NPR reviewed an internal GOP memo sent to top party officials to prepare Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel for her appearance on Hannity’s show that night. It set out in great specificity the intended flow of the show’s lengthy opening segment including its guests, articles and subjects and the primary points Hannity would make. The two jointly focused on stoking suspicions of voter fraud.
The network stood by its decision desk.
What To Watch For
Trump is reportedly considering launching his own media company to compete with Fox News after he leaves the White House, Axios reported Nov. 12. The offering would reportedly take the form of a subscription-based digital streaming channel online, rather than a pricier cable television network, but Trump aim to replace Fox as his supporters top destination for news, Axios reports.

Why Do All The Women On Fox News Look And Dress Alike Republicans Prefer Blondes
From pundits like Ann Coulter to Kellyanne Conway, American rightwingers are a uniform vision of dont scare-the-horses dressing
Why do so many rightwing American women have bottle-blond hair, often worn girlishly long? Im thinking of Kellyanne Conway, Ann Coulter and almost any woman on Fox News.
Jonathan, London N16
Excellent question, Jonathan! I was pondering something similar myself recently while looking through Ivanka Trumps fashion collection on ivankatrump.com, which seems to be one of the only places it is stocked these days. The grimly bland suede pumps, the simpering floral shifts, the just-flirtatious-enough body-skimming little black dresses welcome, people, to death by mainstream feminine. You know how your mother goes on about how you wear too much black/denim/weird stuff, and you cant figure out what the hell it is she expects you to wear? Well, allow me to introduce you to Ivanka Trump. What a shame it seems to be sold almost nowhere these days, as these are the clothes your mother dreams of. Oh well, looks like shell have to put up with you in your awesome Bella Freud jumper and Topshop wide-legged culottes combo for another weekend!
