Shoutout to people with balance disorders

I'm currently at home and not able to work today because of a flare-up of my balance disorder (bilateral vestibular hypofunction/loss). Apparently, the flare-up is happening because I had COVID-19 a few weeks ago, and it has caused my brain to de-compensate for my lack of vestibular function. This is (according to my doctors) super common for people with this after they have any sort of illness.

Because it's not a painful condition, I think people forget how debilitating balance problems can be. The vertigo, the nausea, the blurred vision whenever you move your head, the falls, the people thinking you're drunk, the difficulty explaining your symptoms because they are super weird, not knowing whether or not you need a mobility aid because your legs are fine but you still can't walk in a straight line.

To anyone who has never experienced this, trust me when I say it's really bad. To everyone with a balance disorder, you're all legends and super cool, and you're not alone with this. To all the disabled people out there, don't forget balance disorders this disability pride month!

Opening the door to your dorm, you were surprised to find Kate curled up on the floor. The dorm was completely dark, the only light coming in through the cracks in the shade. “Kate?” you crouched on the ground next to her gently placing your hand on her shoulder, “you okay? Whats wrong?”

The rain gently tapped against the window as she glanced up at you, her eyes red from what you assumed were tears. She slowly sat up as you gently stabilized her by placing your hands on her shoulder. Her hair was messily falling out of her pony tail as she clung to the comforted. Her voice was hoarse as she spoke, “I have another migraine and its so bad.”

You could see the tears well up in her eyes as you felt your heart shatter. She gently palmed at the tears falling from her eyes. Gently you sat in front of her legs and pulled her into a hug. You knew she had been stressed lately with basketball and school and this was just a build up.

You softly pulled away, “Why don't you try and go to bed, hmm?” She nodded at your words, waiting for you to stand to help her up. “What time is it?” She sniffled at you as you gently walked her to her bed. “Its almost seven I think.”

It was silent as you pulled back her blankets to help her into bed. You could’ve sworn her cheeks were a bit pink. “Do you want to take your hair out?” You asked tentatively, “it might make your head feel a bit better.” She was quiet for a moment before she softly asked “can you take it out for me?”

You felt your cheeks heat up before you snapped yourself out of it. Now was not the time or place. “Yea of course,” you scooted behind her on her bed “let me know if you need me to stop okay?”

As slowly and gently as possible you started to slide the hair tie out of her hair, taking breaks every few seconds. Her hair was soft, the golden color looking closer to brown in the almost dark room. She leaned back against your knees as you continued. Hairtie removed, her hair cascaded down her back. “Want me to take your makeup off too?” She nodded, which sent you eagerly into the bathroom where you located the emergency makeup wipes.

Internally, part of you was freaking out. Being able to take care of her and be so close to her was something out of a dream. On the other hand, you felt terrible for being happy in this situation, knowing she was in a lot of pain.

Returning to her bed, you found her sitting up against the wall, head in her hands. You kneeled in front of her, gently pulling her shin up. Pulling a wipe from the pack you softly dragged it down her face. As you carefully made your way across her face, you could feel her eyes watching you. You looked down at her with a smile, “all done,” you backed off the bed, picking up the dirty wipes and tossing them in the trash. You watched her slump over into a ball on the bed. Her eyes still trailed you as you grabbed an ice pack from the freezer, a glimmer of adoration flickering in her eyes.

“Will you stay with me?” You could feel your heart beat pick up. You walked back over to her, handing the ice pack to her as she looked anywhere but your face. “Uhm sure.” She pulled the blanket back, letting you crawl in next to her. Immediately she attached herself to you, her face in your neck wrapping her arms around your waist.

Gently you pulled the blanket back over you, placing the ice pack in-between your neck and her head. You could feel her smile at your actions. Lying next to her in the dark, you found yourself hyperfocused on the warmth radiating from her body. You gently rubbed her back as you felt your eyes droop shut.

“I love you” she murmured softly against your neck. You pressed a kiss to the top of her head, “love you too Kate.”

Which characters form Pale, and what of the Trio, would Victoria get along best with?

I think Victoria would bond with the trio in very different ways personally.

Verona and Victoria share that love of research and lore of their respective settings, body issues, and bond over shitty parents. Lucy and Victoria bond over desires for justice and hatred of prejudice (fitting since Lucy was Victoria's ideal character in Ward), loss of a loved one dear to them, and feeling as though their father-figures let them down. Avery and Victoria are just very friendly people in general, they have a love of sports, and Victoria would see a lot of similarities to how Avery struggled with feeling alone in her family to how Victoria needed to struggle to earn her family's love (see a pattern here...).

As for which of them would get along the most, I think Lucy and Victoria would naturally gravitate towards each other in terms of what they want from the world and from other people. Victoria has a near subconscious obsession with mentoring people (even to the epilogues, she's helping mentor the Majors and is a teacher), and Lucy finds herself pulled to various mentor figures in her life, to the point that one could argue it's now a magic pattern. That being said, I think a big difference that would really make it strong is that Victoria knows when to cut back. Wildbow once mentioned that Lucy both wants to stand up to injustice but also to have a haven to rest and "turn off" so to speak. I think we see that Victoria does that a lot with Kenzie (often mentioned that she'll give Kenzie days of rest, treats, sleepovers etc etc to help calm her down) and with Breakthrough in different ways, including something as simple as hugging people (with consent of course). A lot of Lucy's mentors are the kind of people who either don't want rest, don't know how to rest, or are always stuck in the thick of it. Grandfather is the only one at the end who helps break that pattern in a way. Beyond that? I think she'd get along with the Dog Tags, Miss, Turtle Queen to an extent, Queen Sootsleeves, some of the less mean goblins, some of the less conniving Fae... maaaaybe Rad Ray Sunshine? But that would be more like, taking pity on a tired dog kind of thing I think, sort of reminiscent of her relationship with Defiant.

LVA (UNOFFICIAL) PERSONA PROJECT

Hello everyone Its time for another LVA persona update! This time we decided to make Liam is not only a worker but also an Deer-like monster! Be prepared for some lore:

One day, a Young scientist lady at Jcjenson who also happened to be a big fan of monsters and creatures, especially the the one who looked like Deers, made a very interesting experiment using a worker drone body, and lest just say that the experiment was quite sucessfull.

The reasons why this experiment was possible may or not may be related to the solver 👀

Unlike Alice, who is just a robot who uses mech parts to make her seem like a Deer-like monster, Liam actually is one! ( Science is so powerfull).

Being a robot and a real monster at the same time used to give him a lot of problems but he learned how to control himself and nowadays he is just very chill guy living his best life as an artist on the colony (he still has his powers though, do not mess with him)

Acctually, the reason why Alice dresses herself like is that is exactly because of Liam! When She met him for the first time she simply thought his horns and tail were very cool so she stealed the look for herself when she went insane after the core collapsed lmfao
