Are we gonna talk about how that finale entirely erased any conversation about class divisions or are we too focused on ships?

Are we gonna talk about how Caitlyn for a good chunk of the season willingly enforces violence and opression against the lowest class, no doubt directly causing more deaths and suffering, and she is forgiven by the narrative without any meaningful reflecting?

Her great moment getting together with Vi is right after she JUST had a conversation with Jinx where we see she STILL doesn't recognize any class bias she clearly has, insted making it about HER.

Her and the other enforcers are treated like noble heroes in the final battle, all the blame put on Ambesa. Vi's happy ending is getting into a relationship with the exact type of person who perpetuated all the suffering she endured as a child.

Are we gonna talk about how Jayce never leaves his privilege pedestal, never actually reflects on how he was also enforcing violence to the people of the undercity and living on his bliss of progress at THEIR expense?

Jayce, who got help on every step of the way to get to where he is, who wasn't disabled, who never lived the kind of poverty or class obstacles Viktor did, who never recognized the harm he enabled and was complicit to, HE was the one to tell Viktor "People build their own destiny." and "There is beauty in imperfection" ?????

Not to mention the whole bit where he implies Viktor did all that because he wanted to "eradicate what he thought was weakness"??? Didn't we stablished Viktor wanted to HELP THE PEOPLE FROM THE UNDERCITY TO HAVE BETTER LIFE CONDITIONS?? don't try to gaslight me.

I know this is just a TV show, but I need to remind everyone that what perpetuates opressive, discriminatory and violent systems as long and as deeply as they do is indiference. Is turning your head and enabling others to stay ignorant.

Edit: You guys are misunderstanding me. And I admit it is probably my fault, I wrote this high with emotion I wasn't as eloquent.

Jayce's exact choice of words or his time living in the alternate world is nowhere near my point.

My point is, that the narrative is establishing that the privileged character, is the one that has to show (and is quite literally, textually, always the one to show) the underprivileged character that "he was looking at life the wrong way." Forgetting that Viktor's journey of feeling powerless was greatly influenced by the fact he was poor and from the undercity.

That's what I meant by it erasing the part of the plot about class systems. In the end, the story only requires Jayce to understand Viktor's struggle on a superficial level, but the text never recognizes that it as the product of a deeply rooted SYSTEMIC ISSUE. One Jayce and even Viktor on some level, benefited from and perpetuated.

Understanding Viktor still doesn't give him any moral ground, and nobody ever challenges him on that because the story isn't interested in that anymore.

And the same with Caitlyn. She knows what she did what's wrong, fine, she feels bad. Like I said, she still has a class bias, and no character challenges her on it again because the story derails to magic and fighting and whatnot.

The plot just forgets (or ignores) that layer of the story despite it being so prominent up until now.

And ignoring the class discussion does a disservice to every single character because they were initially built on it. You can see it in how they lose the essence they had on s1.

I know y'all love the characters and want to empathize with all their motivations, okay? But the fundamental issue is that characters also represent things, and more so in a story as political as this one. We also have the right to point out that the show told us they represented something and then abandoned that narrative.

What do I think they could have done differently? If I tell you scene by scene we could be here for an entire year. The gist of it is: I think they should have stuck to the character themes they already had established.

Vi as someone fiercely loyal to the undercity beyond her relationship with Powder/Jinx, and being "cursed" by the role of the older sister. Jayce as someone with good intentions but who is ultimately limited by his blind idealism. Mel as a cunning politician who thinks she is on the right path because she isn't violent like her mother, not realizing she is still perpetuating it. Caitlyn as someone kind and compassionate who realizes the institutions she believed in are fundamentally flawed, and because of the way they are built will never be on the side of kindness. Etc, etc.

None of that gets any meaningful resolution.

I am glad if you liked it, or got something from it, you are entitled to your opinion.

I wanted to say this because I was angry, and still am. Because there was so much incredible potential, and honestly, to me, it feels like the writers chickened out on actually saying something in the end.

— when you moved in they were both beyond infatuated with you…. immediately competing for your attention and praise. they already argued a lot before but now it’s even worse, constantly getting on each other’s nerve because they’re both trying to surpass the other.

— once your situation with them starts to change and develop into something more, you really start to notice how different they are from one another. nika is the type to take you out to really fancy dinners at one of those places where they have inedible garnish or something. she’ll pay for the whole thing and even buy you an outfit beforehand to wear. she does it at least twice a month. paige though, she likes to do fun, activity-based stuff that always leaves you exhausted when it’s over. she likes going to the club or a party with you just so you can dance and grind on her. she also likes to go to the park with you, finding a stray basketball and trying to teach you how to play. that’s her way of bonding with you.

— they make you mediate for all of their disagreements. every. single. one. in the end you’re really just trying to get them to be friendly with each other.

— ALWAYS fighting about who gets to sit next to you on the bus, a car, a plane, literally anywhere. they also always fight over whose jersey you’re going to wear for each game. you told them you’ll just take turns and alternate but they still argue about it. paige always insists you wear hers because “it just looks better on you babe,” but nika’s not having it. after each game they’re both racing to get to you so they can get the first hug.

— nika will buy you something nice or give you a sweet little gift like flowers or something and paige will literally regift them to someone else before you can see. when nika asks if you saw them you look at her so confused and paige just giggles silently from the couch like a little menace.

— if you and paige are doing something sweet together without nika…. oh my gosh. paige will literally take pictures of everything and send them to nika just to make her jealous. and it works every time.

— nika will laugh super loudly anytime you’re together in her room or yours just so paige can hear you across the hall. one time paige came bursting into your room asking “what’s so funny huh?” and you’re just glancing between them because you know what’s going on. it makes nika mad when you invite paige in to join you and she gets super snarky LOL.

— at the end of the day, you trying giving them both equal attention because you know if you don’t, you’ll never hear the end of it. somehow you make it work and stop them from ripping each other’s heads off. (you take pictures of them high-fiving or getting along on the court and show them later but they deny it, usually just saying they tried to slap each other but missed or something stupid like that).

Marauder's Era HC's- How They React When You Ask Them If They'd Still Love You If You Were a Worm

(This is the most unserious thing I've ever written)

James

When you ask him the question, he is SO confused.

I mean, he has no connection to the muggle world, so he's never seen the trend.

James has endless questions for you: "What is the point of this question?" "Why are you a worm?" "Why am I not a worm?"

You have to beg him to stop asking questions and just answer yes or no.

James, of course, is a sweetheart. So even though he's still very confused, his response is lovely: "Well I reckon I'd love you in any universe in any form, so yes I would still love you, even if you were a worm."

Sirius

Sirius is not even fazed by the question.

He INSTANTLY answers yes.

His lack of hesitation makes you all giggly and happy.

But then, he asks you if you'd still love him if he were a worm.

Obviously, you say yes.

Side note: you two would totally have this conversation in bed before going to sleep because that's when you talk about all the weird shit.

Remus

His immediate response is an exasperated, tired sigh because he's so used to your shenanigans.

The first thing he'd say is, "Well am I a worm too?"

Once you tell him no, that he wouldn't be a worm, his answer to you is no because, "he's not attracted to worms?"

You try and explain to him that he'd still know it was you, you'd just be in worm form.

He doesn't budge on his answer and only replies that, "this seems too complicated for a hypothetical, dove."

yeah. bruce's faith in dick transcends alternate realities. the world could be on fire and the incorruptable could become corrupted but bruce wayne can not doubt dick grayson. bruce just casually judges the potential of an entire world by the standards of dick grayson. if the dick grayson on this earth is still a good person then it is still worth saving.

last but not least, a bit of a controversial one, but that scene in forever evil where dick is strapped to the bomb and it's about to go off and he tells bruce to leave him just like bruce has told him many times before. BUT BRUCE CAN'T. he says that the only way they are getting out of this is together as if there aren't like 3 other people in that room with them lmaoo- if dick grayson dies then bruce might as well die too because there is no reality in which he can live without him. his son, his brother, his best friend, his saving grace, his boy OUGH. and then we get the whole spyral fight scene yada yada and it's like a knife cut clean through your heart. one of the first dick & bruce scenes I read and one that will always hold a lot of weight in how I view them.

Ight hypnosers, let’s talk about it

Cw for talk of wet dreams and sex, also brief mentions of sexual trauma. Fair warning. But I’ve touched in nightmares so I think we should talk about the other well known kind of dreams too.

Wet dreams, that sexual shit. We all know what that is, and if you don’t you’re probably too young to be on the internet. A lot of the time, these dreams are purely just hormone induced, typically during puberty or if you’re trans, when you go on hormones and go through SECOND puberty (as a trans masc on T, believe me that shit hits you HARD at like months 3-7). But when Hypnos gets involved in these dreams it’s a reminder he isn’t just a gentle comforting being like he’s mostly portrayed as, but has a very much adult oriented side. This is a god who had male and female lovers, many kids of his own and was mainly worshiped in Ancient Greece, a very much sex everywhere time period. Seriously the amount of porn (gay porn to be exact) on Ancient Greek pottery is wild. And Roman coins too, there’s a bunch of them found.

So yeah, he’s got his gentle side, his more gloomy gothic side (nightmares, being the twin of death etc) and his “here have the kinkiest dream of your life” side. And there’s plenty of reasons why he’d send you a sexual dream to begin with. Helping you realise your sexuality, getting you to take notice of your pent up hormones, helping you realise you’re indeed attracted to that person you dreamed about, or alternatively that your NOT into them if you wake up thinking ‘ew, why them?’

And as for sexual trauma, sometimes those nightmares are simply PTSD, your own subconscious reacting to trauma. And sometimes like I said with the nightmares, it’s Hypnos telling you that you NEED to work through that trauma, to help you realise just how badly it’s hurting you subconsciously.

You can absolutely go to him for advice or help with these kinds of dreams, it’s within his domain so he absolutely won’t judge. He’s a god, he’s more knowledgeable and powerful than any of us will ever be, no god truly cares how much or how little mortals desire and act upon sexual urges (you know, unless it’s non consentual, you’ll get your ass kicked for that. ALWAYS get consent guys, and ALWAYS support victims).

Sex is still a stigmatised thing, despite the fact it’s literally how babies are made and completely natural. Even more stigmatised is queer and kinky sex/fantasies. So that societal pressure drilled into us from the moment we gain conciseness can make it feel like we can’t talk about it to anyone, even deities. Or that only deities directly linked to sex (e.g. Aphrodite and Eros) are the only acceptable ones to talk to. Get that idea out of your head ok? Because any deity will be open to talking about it, helping you with it etc. again, they’re deities. They couldn’t care less what us humans are into as long as it’s safe and consensual.

In fact, there’s a bit out there to suggest Eros and Hypnos were worshipped alongside each other. What is the bed used for other than sleeping? Exactly, sex. The bed is seen as a scarred place not only because it’s where you’re safe from the woes of the waking world, but because you invite people into it to perform acts that involve love and trust.

And what about if you’ve had a sexual dream WITH a deity in it? That’s probably a whole can of worms to be opened, I’m sure the godspousing people will probably be more of an expert on that than I am. Of course, it could just be your own subconscious, maybe you’ve got a bit of a crush on that deity (which is perfectly fine btw, unless they’re specifically a virgin deity who is all about staying celibate, then I’d raise an eyebrow). Or who knows? Maybe they’re trying to get something across to you. THAT is definitely something you’d want to talk about with them.

TLDR: Hypnos doesn’t care you have wet dreams, using your bed for sexual stuff etc. he’s absolutely ok with you talking to him about it, coming to him for help etc. don’t let the stigma around sex stop you from turning to him or any other deity for advice and guidance on your sexuality.

this is unrelated to your point but since you brought it up, honestly? i kind of have to agree that catra is technically a hypocrite about boundaries related to touch. i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though, as long as the people she jumps all over are okay with it too, and adora certainly seems to be unless it's by surprise, so they have the situation agreed-upon. it's entirely her valid choice to be comfortable with adora caressing her and standing by her side at a very small distance but not with scorpia hovering right in her face enthusiastically all the time.

you also have to remember that catra grew up by adora's side and was happy to rely on her for support ─ up until adora left and catra realized how much progress she could make without believing she was standing in her way, of course ─ and apparently didn't even know scorpia existed until they were both force captains. also, catra is very demiromantic/sexual-coded, as elaborated upon already, and as someone who also identifies that way myself (green is a great color for my blog theme, as you can tell!), i can't help but relate heavily to the idea of being overwhelmed by someone we just met already pursuing us.

But he doesn’t know what to do to take care of you really… that’s his vice. He’ll just end up buying everything he can possibly think of to comfort you, and I mean… it’s something. It’ll dull the pain a little bit to eat an insane amount of chips while he plays with your hair all night.

If your legs go out or you need to go to the hospital during your time of the month, he is fully capable of carrying you wherever you need to go. Speeding laws be damned! When your entire body is trying to kill you from the inside out, you are the most important thing in the world to him.

For a long time, Arthur thought it was… unrefined to talk about things like periods. Of course, now he knows better, but that also means… he has no idea what’s going on down there. Or what it does to the body. So when you tell him about the back pain, the cravings, the light-headedness, the nausea… he is probably gonna be pretty doubting. Until you collapse or throw up on him.  Then he’ll take care of you, hand and foot.

Literally. He loves giving massages, and he’s weirdly good at it. Of course, he’ll get you some pain meds (the good pain meds, too) and snacks, but also his hands are not gonna leave your body until your time of the month is over. 

But until then, he is very concerned. Even if it’s the umpteenth time you’ve been with him through it, he’s still begging you to go to the doctor. Anytime anything does even slightly worse, he’s grabbing his keys, getting ready to speed you to the emergency room.

Francis may sympathize, but he really does not… understand the severity of the situation. When you moan about not getting out of bed, he’s just confused and a little annoyed. Sure, periods are painful, but… you’ve had so many, aren’t you used to it by now? 

Feel free to educate him. Or hit him. Both work.

After that, he’s not making you get out of bed. He may not know your pain, but he is sure as hell not gonna force you to do anything. If your job tries to get you to come in, he’ll even start a strike outside for you <3

And considering that you’re probably his first partner who gets that much pain from your time of the month, he has no idea what to get you. Get him a list, and make sure you tell him not to find healthier alternatives cause otherwise you’re getting gross chocolate that’s supposed to help with pain. He’s trying to help… he’s just weirdly terrible at this specific part.

Don’t worry! He’s had to come up with remedies for this exact problem since before the invention of the wheel! It won’t taste great, but he’ll have you back in shape in no t- wait, why isn’t it working?! What do you mean your boobs hurt more now?!

He’s… really concerned for you the whole time. It’s hard for him to leave your side, even if you insist you’re used to it. I mean, surely this many cold compresses should relieve your… unorthodox pains. Frankly, he’s impressed. How many years have you been going through this? And without him to wait on you, hand and foot?! A shame…

If you need anything, he’ll happily make it for you. Yes, make it. He wants to be sure your care is as perfect as possible, so he only trusts his own hands. But maybe be wary if your legs tend to give out… his old bones are not meant to be carrying anyone around for too long. But of course, he’ll still do his best for you.

The Braginsky family has been cursed for… well, ever… with terrible medical conditions, so he is very familiar with the suffering caused by periods. He’s heard Natalya wail and moan for hours on end, and he is not about to let you go through the same pain! He will rip the radiator out of the wall to use as a heating pad if he has to!

He doesn’t panic as much as the others would, he already knows what you need and had it at home. That means he is not leaving your side for even a second! If you suddenly get new pains, lose feeling in anything, or have any other emergency, he is fully prepared to sweep you off your feet and help you deal with it. And he’s had to do much grosser things than take care of someone he loves, don’t worry about that.

Like you could bleed on his leg and he would not even notice, much less be upset. He’s just like, “Oh, dear, are you running out of anything? I can pick anything up for you if you need.”

OH YOU POOR DARLING! Don’t worry, he already called into work for you! You need snacks? Heated blankets? Medication? Stuffed animals? For him to hold you in his arms? He’s there! No questions asked! (He has quite a low pain tolerance himself, so he is nothing but empathetic towards you during your time of need.)

If it’d make you feel better… he’d love to massage your stomach... Don’t look at him like that! He just wants to help!

Also, if he sees you trying to put on any tight and uncomfortable clothing, he is getting you out of that stuff asap. If you need to go anywhere, he’ll go for you! Don’t stuff yourself into such suddenly ill-fitting clothing… you still look beautiful to him. 

And if it gets too bad, you have the fastest (and most dangerous) driver in all of Italy to get you to the emergency room ASAP. So don’t worry your pretty little head, Feli’s got you!

Just because Ludwig knows all about the medical side of periods, does not mean he knows how to actually deal with you when you’re in horrible, horrible pain. The fact that although it may make you feel better, you are not up for doing anything, is just baffling to him. He may try to drag you out of bed to stretch and exercise. Please bite him when he does so.

Once you start describing your actual symptoms, he starts getting light-headed. No way… this happens every month? Incalculable back pain on top of your uterus exploding? You sure you don’t need a doctor? It’s really no hassle to carry you to the car, promise! But also, you could just take him up on that offer and change your mind and ask for ice cream. He would do it. Just saying.

Anything to relieve your suffering, really. He’s spending all his time worrying about you, so he’ll get anything you want without question. He can’t stand seeing you in so much pain… but he also can’t help but feel so blessed to have been born biologically male. Basically, you’ve got a servant whose in love with you for a week.

and while you worked a lot, too, you didn't work in the same way that satoru did when he was a sorcerer. although, to some, it may look like satoru mucked about, he didn't. while juggling responsibilities as a teacher, he also had to tackle and cover a huge number of missions in the whole of Japan as well as abroad. that is one mission after another after another with little to no breaks. perhaps none at all. that is not to dismiss your efforts, of course, but to contextualise them.

meanwhile, you encourage him to try out the things that he might like – be it baseball or singing or something else entirely. or maybe get back into teaching? later?

and so, this marks a foray into the world of satoru the househusband – sorcerer extraordinaire of the past, and househusband extraordinaire of the present.

The Ancients, dissatisfied with the very prominent lack of results the Iterator project was bringing, began having doubts. Perhaps they had gone about this the wrong way? It seemed they had made their design of the Iterators inherently flawed — they tried too hard to solve the Problem, over and over and over again.

It was time for something new. An alternative.

And so, the idea for the Anti-Iterator project was brought into the world — a whole generation of Iterators that didn’t try. Some called it redundant, some pointless. But it convinced plenty, certainly enough to make that idea a reality, and the plan came into fruition.

No Way Back was the first created; his name was given to him to signify a turning point, a new era of Iterators. One that would bring with it change and, hopefully, finally, a solution.

so anyway NWB did absolutely nothing except talk excessively about the ancients’ fashion and sometimes ask them for their drip clothes for his collection and also make cringefail music. the project was discontinued immediately

my favourite is definitely immortal primeboys. I’m still working on that when I am not being fucked over by adhd and chronic pain it’s just been very slow for the fic but I adore the au and want to finish it. i just find the whole psychology of being immortal with them really fun. they’ve developed into a vaguely mutual codependent mess bc from their perspective absolutely everything in life but each other changes so quick it’s nothing more than a brief distraction. which isn’t to say they’re not abusive they’re even more so bc several millennia of escalating abuse leads to some extremely fucked up places, it’s left c!tommy so traumatised the perspective of the townspeople is that he's shy because he’s that terrified of interacting with other people, but like in the actual definition of codependency where it’s all give and all take. c!tommy relies on c!dream for everything bc he’s been given zero independence for millennia bc he’s all c!dream has left and c!dream needs to have c!tommy rely on him bc he’s petrified of being alone and worries c!tommy would leave if he was allowed even the slightest bit of responsibility. it’s very much an exaggeration of the abusive dynamic, but in a very deliberate way both bc in universe the escalation has gone on for millennia and required some extremely traumatic black magic rituals to begin with, and out of universe to allow the exploration of abuse to be both unmissable by literally anyone while also not relying on typical narrative tropes to signal that (which are fine but i tend to avoid the archetypical depictions of abuse for c!prime for a reason)

most recent is the alternate ending au I started for Whumptober (it probably won’t be updated at all this October or even this year unfortunately bc health flare ups suck and I'm struggling with them recently but it’s all planned out and being worked on) bc I had Ideas on how to tie it into c!tommy soft epilogue bc it Does end with c!tommy safe and healing with c!tubbo and it has the start of people moving away from the smp (in this case, being c!Punz- him leaving is the impetus for c!dream to have such a bad breakdown he tries to run off with a captive c!tommy bc he feels betrayed by everyone else) and I think it’d be fun to tie in some foreshadowing and stuff within the fic. healing after struggling with being denied either kindness or freedom is a pretty major theme for the latter half of it, and I think it’d be cool to tie it in with that.

I don’t get c!prime being in a healthy friendship or sibling relationship bc they never were in canon tbh. like, c!dream is just kinda Like That. not even just with c!tommy like its just that he places strategic importance and a level of trust on him he's kind of terrifying manipulative and possessive in the context of everything and I’m tired of him being a fucking weirdo getting erased bc he’s like that throughout the entirety of the series it was originally a bit but it very quickly became Not That and it’s extremely funny he's an amoral little shit and i think that makes him a great character. when he get sadboy uwu'd not only does that lose the charm of c!dream being this cheerfully amoral asshole who's completely oblivious to that fact and thinks he’s putting on a facade of being a cold emotionless killer when he just looks like an extremely dorky cheerfully amoral asshole that i love it’s also like. it gives me the impression they’re stamping their perception of cc!dream onto him and i despise cc!dream for. many reasons but primarily the negative levels of safeguarding he had around younger ccs to the point he was “jokingly” acting creepy around them which like, I’m not going to say was malicious but also sure was extremely irresponsible and dangerous to the point i don’t think he should have a platform! SILLY ART!! I was playing some Beat Saber yesterday and was listening to some Femtanyl when I thought of this pose for Silly! This art obviously was inspired from the song "PUSH UR T3MPRR" by Femtanyl. Very good music imo, it has Silly vibes to me. This may be a surprise to most, but I actually REALLY enjoy anatomy, I love drawing it, it's very fun. Which is why I wanna do more full body drawings! You may have noticed that I've been doing a lot more different stuff with camera zooms, full body drawings and all that. And I'm finding the whole process to be A LOT more fun than I expected! I'm surprised at that, but also relieved that it's not as bad as I expected. I'm still struggling when it comes to posing arms. But I think this artwork threw me out of that comfort zone and got me to draw a pose that I don't think 2022 me would even DREAM of drawing- and that says a lot cuz I think I found myself falling into a comfort zone and I sorta stopped experimenting with posing. BUT THAT CHANGES. I'M PUSHING THE LIMITS OF MY ARTSTYLE CUZ WHY NOT.

Anyways, back to Silly. I felt like giving her a belt with belt loops for this drawing since I think they'd look cool on her :]. Don't worry, this isn't a design change, just an alternative option for clothing in a sense. I also thought it would fit the vibe of this drawing. That being a sorta Too Many Misadventures video game. I have already dabbled in the idea of a TMM video game in the past and felt like doing it again here. It made me think of this being a character select screen for a level. I can also see Silly's levels being the most chaotic/difficult. It's no surprise really, since this is Silly we're talking about, and she's a pretty chaotic coyote, so it makes sense her levels would be face paced, fun, but also difficult. Also I think I should bring up the knife she has, it was also seen on the art 'Silly's FUN Adventure HD". I know it seemed like something I shouldn't have hidden, but I did, mainly cuz I couldn't think of a design. But this is their way to get to different realms! It's a knife capable of cutting a thin line in the air that can open a portal up to different realms. I gave it a little design update too. So don't think Silly owns multiple, she only has one. And lemme tell ya, she protects that item with her LIFE. If that ends up lost or stolen. It's the end of the world for Bex, Silly and Stacy. (not literally the end of the world, but they wouldn't be able to return home and such if you get me)

Might aswell also share a fun fact about Silly; she's afraid of ghosts! Mainly spirits that would possess an object like a doll. That's thanks to her watching something like Annabelle in the early hours of the morning. 10/10 thinking Silly, just as good as the times realm adventures goes wrong and she DEFINITELY had a Plan B thought up of.

Karen--not in the "i want to hang out with her" favorite but the "I want to study her for days on end because she is so very Fascinating" favorite. ditches her sons for a decade and explains herself with the most bizarre teenage-leftist word salad i've ever seen. brings condoms on a trip to rescue said sons from a cult. is mia for esteban's death, multiple explosions, and Sean's eye, but shows up based on a letter from some weirdo she's never met. reenacts her and Esteban's fight-and-smoke-together ritual with Sean like he's a ken doll of his dead dad. sets a church on fire for her sons and protects them after they commit a murder. turns herself in to the cops because she loves her kids and doesn't want to spend too much time with them. refers to having children as "breeding" in that one letter to her parents. i need to put her under a microscope so bad.

6. favorite scene

torn between dancing on the bed at the beginning (FUCKING feelings) and the blood brothers border massacre (FUCKING chills). the dance scene is so sweet and also an amazing parallel to the canon romance pairing from lis1, which I love, and blood brothers is just--epic. watching Daniel reach his full potential like that, how far he'll go to protect his brother, is the most beautiful and spectacular thing in the world.

8. favorite choice

definitely the Lisbeth one. it's such an amazing culmination to an already brilliant and terrifying ep. i'm a slut for weird parallels and fucked-up christian imagery and it's just so...so fucking good, my god (literally).

the way Daniel just raises her into the air like he did the cross in the earlier scene? the way that was just a performance, but things are different now and Daniel isn't a little wolf cub doing tricks, he remembers he has teeth? Sean's cutting Daniel's metaphorical puppet strings and Daniel hoisting Lisbeth up on telekinetic ones? the callback to the fucking puma from ep 2? the fact "you raise me up" is literally a christian song i remember singing as a kid and this is the harsh reality of being actually raised high by your god? the way the heavenly space around them has been transformed into hell, all pretensions at eden stripped away? the jarring difference between the last ep where Sean is permanently marked by Daniel losing control and now he knows exactly what he's doing and the difference is so fucking real?

the way it's the most ruthless choice in the game, maybe even in the franchise, this vengeance for nothing more than vengeance's sake, and it turns out that's a perfectly good reason? Sean facing Lisbeth at Daniel's side where she had been only a few minutes ago? Daniel saying she tried to use me like he's heartbroken and she hurt you with the fury of a thousand suns? the wiki describing Lisbeth as being hung from a "telekinetic noose" and it calls back to Sean being "Judge Diaz" to Daniel's executioner, to Judas Iscariot hanging himself, to Daniel's dream suicide at the beginning of the ep, to hell, even Kate Marsh's suicide in lis1?

the cain vs abel vibes of this whole ep, brother and brother unsure who is the righteous and who is the damned, sean's forehead literally being blooded like a mark of cain, only to turn together on the force that tried to split them up like that? the way Lisbeth has spent the whole episode forcing godhood upon Daniel until she suddenly realizes that gods have the capacity for judgement? Lisbeth trying to adopt Daniel and Karen coming back for him, but Sean is the one who gets to influence what Daniel ultimately does, the secondary access to godlike power that he's earned through all his hard work and self-sacrifice, his love and care and determination to fix his mistakes, where the others have only offered abuse and neglect?

the alternative where Sean tells Nicholas shoot me in the face and live with it before he blows Lisbeth away and lives with it just fine? Karen seeing what her children are truly capable of in every sense of the word, having to live with what they became to survive when she wasn't there for them? Sean spending the whole episode being helpless and heartbroken and brutalized in so many ways, only to very suddenly be gifted more power than he's ever had in his life, this complete control over the life and death over another human being? how fucking satisfying it is for him to either kill his little brother's abuser or let Daniel do it himself?

just. fucking. fucking HELL (literally). this episode.

26. one headcanon?

i kind of like the idea of the Diaz family having a generational reputation in Puerto Lobos for being a little bit Weird--like nothing on Daniel's scale, but there are rumors, whispers, stories of miracles and ghosts and strange happenings on their land, of secret truths older than colonization. not everybody can decide if it's of god or the devil, but when the parents die and young Esteban leaves, the whole town feels like it's lost something more than just a mechanic. nobody really has the guts to go onto the property until two young brothers set up shop there, and the other citizens can't help thinking something important has settled back into place.

detroit become human! inspired by this art and a playthrough i've been watching a friend do, lol. would love Esteban as an android mechanic taking in two lost little androids from a discontinued child line and giving them a home and a last name, only for them to get in trouble when they're caught "deviating" (gaining sentience) and he gets murdered defending them from the police, so they have to go on the run...
