I woke up this morning with a song in my heart and that song was reversed age gap maxiel with a lil scumbag Max in the bridge. I've had an ask in my inbox for months now about reversed aged gap maxiel and I thought this was the same vibe but sadly it isn't. Oh wells, this is what I wrote this morning. thank you @chaosinstigator for being an amazing cheerleader <3
1172 wrds. There is a part 2 apparently lol
Something something four-time world champion Max Verstappen looks across the garage at his new teammate, the 18yr old they dragged up from VCarb to replace Checo.
Daniel Ricciardo was a fast driver, he'd only spent a fraction of the year in F2 before he was called up. And even though the car wasn't good, he was. Which is what mattered.
Helmut had been puffing chest out in pride ever since Daniel proved him right.
Now the kid– because that's what he was, a kid– was talking to the old man, nodding periodically while Helmut spoke. Like a good boy.
They'd already met, had time to break the ice as teammates and Max could hardly ignore how his light brown eyes had shone with worship and awe. Or how Daniel’s voice had cracked when he promised to be a good challenge for Max this year. His lips pulled into an almost-but-not-quite-there cocky smirk over the brackets of his braces, and Max idly wondered what other ‘challenges’ Daniel would pose this year.
In the weeks since that, Max couldn’t help but notice Daniel. How could he not? He was cute, in a dorky way. He listened to loud music, loudly. Unlike Checo who kept his tunes to a reasonable volume for someone sharing a wall. Daniel was always giggling and joking around, trying to rile people up to play.
Max was already riled up in a different way.
What with Daniel’s continued teasing and jokes, walking around in tiny shorts and showing his new thigh tattoo to anyone with eyes. He was flexible too, contorting his scrawny body into yoga poses while they waited for engineering to start, doing handstands in the hallway. He was loud when he got massaged. Max could hear him talking through the thin wall and then his voice would hitch and he would groan when Jon apparently hit a particularly deep knot. It drove Max up the wall.
Max knocked twice before opening the door– his usual standard– then froze in the doorway. Daniel looked at him wide eyed, dressed only in his underwear and clearly about to get dressed in his tight white fireproofs. Max hadn’t ever seen him so underdressed, even with all of the random activities they’d been doing for marketing. He was scrawny yes, but still lithe with corded muscles. Dotted with freckles and sunspots. Max gripped the handle of the door when Daniel’s big eyes lost their surprise and settled into upturned curiosity. His heart shaped lips dropped open a little, enough for Max to see his tongue pressing against his braces. Max wanted to smear his come in the brackets.
“Max?” Daniel’s voice pitched upwards.
Max mentally stepped away from the visuals of him debauching this kid. “Your music.” He got out.
“Oh jeepers, my bad. Sorry!” Daniel rushed to the table to lower the volume on his speakers. Max watched his ass in his tight briefs. How his thighs bunched as he moved, thick with dark wiry hair.
“Lovely, thank you Daniel.” Max smiled and Daniel’s face darkened with a pleased flush and he bit his lip. Max forced himself to close the door and go back to his own room.
— - —
They were changing after a gokart race for marketing, Daniel sat shirtless on the bench. Max looked over to see him already watching him. After spending the last twenty minutes with Daniel practically sat in his lap while Max gripped his tiny waist, Max would appreciate it if he got dressed already.
“I can hear your brain from here.” Max teased and Daniel’s lips pulled into an unconscious smile even as he looked away.
“Sorry I just– you don’t like me, do you?” Daniel blurted and Max froze.
“What?”
“It’s just– you didn’t–I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have like said that.” Daniel shook his head and stood. Max watched him tuck his long sweaty curls behind his ear.
“Why would you think that?” Max was confused as to why Daniel would assume that he hated him, and wondered what made him think that way. As far as Max was concerned, he hadn’t treated him any differently than anyone else. Unless Daniel was expecting special treatment? If anything, Daniel was getting special treatment. Max wasn’t going out of his way to be a dick to him, he wouldn’t do that to his young teammate.
“Uhm, I– everyone says you were nicer to Checo, warmer. I-I don’t think you’ve been bad– you’ve been great. But I’m not Checo and I dunno if you like resent me for replacing him.”
“Checo was my teammate for five years, I am not going to, of course, automatically treat you like him.” Max pointed out, “and you shouldn’t listen to the media, they are talking out of their asses most of the time.”
Daniel blushed and ducked his head, chastised.
“Was that it?” Max asked kindly. He would rather get this all out in the open now.
“I'm sorry.” Daniel apologized, his upturned eyes looked glassy as if he was holding back tears. “I just want us to be friends I guess.” He shrugged.
“You don’t have to be friends with your teammate.”
“I know but.. You were friends with all of yours. Like Carlos.”
Max scoffed, he hadn’t been friends with Carlos when they were teammates– they fucked out their frustrations.
Daniel’s eyes widened and his mouth dropped open in a small o. Max shrugged and tugged his shirt over his head. He repacked his bag and tugged on a cap, turning to see Daniel squirming where he stood, a deep blush on his cheeks. And oh. Well this was interesting.
Max crossed the room and stood over him, using the few centimeters he had on Daniel to his advantage. Daniel’s head tipped up trustingly and Max cupped his smooth chin in his big hand. Daniel let out a breathy exhale that had Max’s blood surging.
Max leaned in closely, so close their noses touched. Daniel’s breath hitched. It would be so easy to take. To give in and do what he wanted to Daniel, clearly what Daniel wanted him to do to him. It would be so easy to ruin him entirely. Too easy.
“You have no idea what you’re asking.” Max whispered against pink lips. Daniel whined in response.
“I– please. I can take it”
“Have you ever?” Max wanted to know, needed to know just how corrupt his little jailbait was. Daniel’s eyes widened and Max bit back his groan. Fuck.
“W-with girls.” Daniel admitted in a whisper, he grabbed at Max’s arm as if he were afraid that his admission would make him less desirable. As if Max hadn’t already been fantasising about fucking him seven ways to Sunday every fucking weekend. His cock stirred at the thought of being the first in the undoubtable tight clench of Daniel’s untried hole. Of being the first to have him writhing and screaming at the discovery of his prostate.
Would he beg? Max quirked a smirk at the thought, Daniel was already begging right now.
#ending it here because work is being a buzzkill lol#but i anticipate that max doesn't take too long to take what daniel's offering. i don't think he should wait#maxiel#max/daniel#my fic#reversed age gap au#is that a good enough tag?

I’m a tall girl ( 6’0+ ) and I rarely see any content for us and only if you’re up to it and taking requests could we get bsd men with a tall reader ^-^ feel free to disregard this if you don’t want to !
From 🍰 anon ( if I can be ^^ ) :3
⊹ note. . . as a short girlie this was a lil difficult to write, but I managed ! so sorry abt answering this so late and ofc you can be 🍰 anon, my dear <3
dazai doesn't care about your appearance, he'd love you no matter what you look like. if you're taller than him, he'd still enjoy every single bit of it, of of course. he loves how he doesn't have to strain his shoulders and slouch or bend down to kiss you. will also convince you to tease chuuya together, which eventually becomes one of y'all's favourite couple activity <3
during bed, he definitely won't deny a tall dominant lady, if you're into that. but if you prefer being submissive, he won't mind that either. mans just wants to get his dick wet and touch you, as simple as that..♡
chuuya also doesn't care about your appearance− just don't mention or make jokes about the comical height difference between you both. he'll either sulk about it, or huff and smack you playfully, grumbling something about 'height doesn't matter'. and if you picked him up and threw him over your shoulder− he'd screech and probably thrash around to get out immediately. don't worry though, he'd let you give him piggy-back rides eventually, after a lot of begging. oh and if you like to wear heels? he's not gonna tell you what you can and can't wear but it's gonna be pretty funny when he looks half your size.
in bed, unlike dazai, he'll fight you for dominance. definitely won't let you have the upper hand without some struggle− unless you somehow manage to convince him. will be secretly very into it later, he'd rather die than admit it though. but if you're submissive, he'd love that as well. would take the best care of you..♡
fyodor wouldn't care much about your height, he wants someone who listens to him and is devoted. if you tease him for being shorter than you, his lips would turn into a straight line and he'd sigh, "so? why would that matter to me?" if you wear heels, no you don't. he claims you're already taller than him, there's no need for you to become even more tall. guess he's not as unaffected he said he was, huh?
during sex, as much as it pains me to say this, fyodor will not let you have control no matter what. he desires control control and power, and he will not give that up. do not try to overpower and pin him down, I promise you the punishment is not worth it. of course, he'll let you ride him time to time− you may be on top, but he has the control and he sets the pace; don't get it twisted..♡
nikolai is a pretty big guy himself, so he's not gonna mind if you're really tall. he's gonna love it actually, you're the perfect size for him. you two would be the power couple of yokohama, just imagine terrorizing sigma together with him (ㅅꈍᴗꈍ)ᰔ
he's gonna be pretty flexible in the bedroom, of course. he's almost into anything and everything. not afraid of letting you take the lead ! will take his revenge and pin you down later though, so better keep an eye out for that..♡

5 Tips for Building a Sustainable Writing Practice
Every year, we’re lucky to have great sponsors for our nonprofit events. First Draft Pro, a 2023 Camp NaNoWriMo sponsor, is a great writing app—whether you’re writing solo or with a co-author. Here are a few tips for building a sustainable writing practice, brought to you by author Ariana Brown and First Draft Pro.
We’ve all heard the advice to “write every day,” as if it were that easy! Translation: suck it up, no one cares if you’re tired. But what if there was another way to get writing done, without being unkind to yourself?
Hi, I’m Ariana Brown, and I teach writers how to create a writing practice that is sustainable, flexible, and fulfilling. Most of my students are chronically ill, disabled, neurodivergent, or simply exhausted from the daily stresses of life. I know writing isn’t your only responsibility—capitalism makes sure of that! But I strongly believe that writing should be an enjoyable activity you look forward to.
Below I’ve compiled my top tips for exhausted writers who want to be kinder to themselves—and still get the work done.
1. Add pleasure to your writing routine.
Sensory pleasures are neither frivolous nor are they only for children. They’re a crucial part of being alive! They give us something to look forward to when times are tough and we need motivation. Candles, soft blankets, cold beverages, mood lighting, dance breaks, yummy treats—whatever you choose, make sure it’s something you love. Paint your nails a fun color so you have something beautiful to look at while you’re typing away. Make a playlist of your favorite songs and after you finish a chapter, blast one song so loudly you have to get up and dance. Then, get back to writing. Remember, even for the most focused among us, pleasure is a better motivator than shame.
2. Be clear about your intentions.
What brought you to writing in the first place? For some, it was the ability to escape into our imaginations. For others, it was the chance to finally express what we’d been holding inside. Identify your reason for writing, then ask yourself: Am I still enjoying this? Do I still feel connected to my reason for writing? If not, explore how you can strengthen your connection to your inner child’s reason for writing.
3. Work with your brain, not against it.
If we know that everyone’s brain works differently, why do we force strict discipline and linear processes on ourselves? My advice: find or create a writing process that works for you. Maybe you love outlines; maybe you prefer to see where the words take you. Either way, make space for wandering, play, and discovery as you write. Take brain breaks. Doodle, map, dance, and draw when you get distracted. Body double with other writers, try new exercises and prompts to make the writing sing, and take plenty of breaks to stretch your body and talk to friends. We come to writing with our whole selves. Listen to your body, don’t shut it off.
4. Find a writing community.
You don’t have to wait for a community to come to you! I offer co-writing sessions on Zoom four times a month for my Patreon supporters, but do what works for you. Attend local open mics as an audience member and cheer on your peers. Invite your best friends to your living room once a month for a two hour writing/crafting session. Or check your local library and bookstores for free workshops and author events. You don’t have to do this work alone.
5. Develop a gratitude practice.
Finishing your draft is a huge accomplishment, but it’s not the only milestone to be celebrated. Consider creating opportunities to thank yourself throughout your writing practice. You’re doing an amazing and difficult thing. The fact that you keep showing up is worthy of celebration. Whether you decide to journal, rest, pray, meditate, or reward yourself, a little gratitude goes a long way.

Marauders Era Gym HC’s
What I think these crazy kids would get up to at the gym.
A/n: I’m trying to have a more consistent workout schedule and writing this was very motivating for me. Enjoy!
James Potter
- James Potter is 100% an arm day guy. I mean, have you seen how broad his shoulders are? That’s not all natural baby. Whether it’s shoulder, back, chest, or arms, James is doing it. And boy is he strong. He could and would pick you up and throw you around like you weigh nothing because, well, to him- you don’t.
- His arms are so buff, most of his shirts strain under the bulge of his arm.
- When he bear hugs you you are literally smothered in his muscles.
- He’s so strong that he’s not always aware of his strength though..: Sometimes you have to remind him to loosen his grip on you, whether he’s holding your hand or hugging your waist.
- Two words: muscle. tees.
- Veiny hands ;)
Lily Evans
- Lily Evans, conversely, is a leg girl. One, that woman has legs for daysssss oml. But also, her thick thighs?
- Girl can squat 200 pounds easily.
- She also loves the stairmaster and anything that makes her ass looks nice (cuz me too).
- You know that trend where partners work out together and the stronger one finishes off where the other stopped? Yeah, James would give up on legs so fast and just stand in awe as Lily easily passes him and more.
- Those strong legs don’t just look great. They feel great too. If you know what I mean ;)
- Leggings.
Sirius Black
- To no one’s surprise, this man has to have it all.
- According to him, he needs to “look beautiful everywhere.” He does ab day, leg day, arm day, cardio, you name it.
- Sometimes he likes to do all in one day. Tbh he could spend hours at the gym and not get tired because he’s hyperactive.
- This man loves protein shakes like it’s no one’s business.
- Jacked. Literally everywhere. I mean he’s Sirius mf Black for a reason.
- Will listen to any music when he’s working out!
- Low-rise sweat pants
- Stamina. Necessary when Remus is your boyfriend <3.
Remus Lupin
- ABS ABS ABS ABS
- Remus Lupin, being a werewolf, gets plenty of exercise in his arms and legs. So when he works out, he prefers to do abs. Plus it’s something he’s able to do when the rest of him is sore after transitions.
- Has a six pack but is really good at hiding it. Everyone is always shocked when his shirt rides up while he’s pulling off his sweater.
- Our boy is still a little insecure so he likes to wear long sleeved baggy shirts when he works out.
- Listens to classical music when he exercises because it “grounds him.”
- Once Sirius learns about his six pack, he’s obsessed. Always begging for Remus to be shirtless.
Peter Pettigrew
- You will not catch Peter Pettigrew dead around weights and workout machines because he thinks they’re boring and monotonous as fuck.
- However, Peter loves to be active, particularly in sports.
- Whether it’s basketball, quidditch, football, soccer, etc. Peter will play it.
- He’s eerily good at picking up any sport he learns.
- Why, you ask, is he not on the Gryffindor team? Cuz he chokes under pressure.
- Plus, he wants to play for fun, not for competition.
- If he’s at the gym, you can guarantee he’ll be wearing some sort of graphic tee.
- Also, carries around a ginormous water bottle. Like the 85 ounce ones and downs it so quickly. (Ofc it’s red).
- He has beautiful skin because of how much water he drinks (and everyone’s jealous of it.)
Marlene McKinnon
- Marlene is not against weight training- she does it for quidditch all the time.
- However, she much prefers a workout that stimulates her overactive brain. That’s why she loves rock climbing.
- Not only does it make her ripped, she also likes the challenge of planning out each step, trying not to fall.
- She’s got strongggg fingers ;).
- Super light on her feet and flexible. She can climb those rock walls like a spider monkey.
- Sports drinks like Gatorade get her hyped.
- Opposite of James, Marlene is not broad but incredibly lean. Her muscles are so fucking toned.
- Sports bra with muscle tee.
Dorcas Meadowes
- She could not give less of a fuck about lifting weights. But, she lives and breathes cardio.
- This girl LOVES to run. When it’s nice out she likes to run on trails or around the Black Lake. When the weather is shitty she’ll run on the treadmill.
- And Dorcas doesn’t just casually jog, she likes intense running. While everyone else is struggling to keep up with an incline of 1, she runs at a 6 no problem.
- She has a hella good playlist to run to as well.
- Cardio=sweaty so you can be assured that she’s always in a sports bra and biker shorts. Even if it’s 30 degrees out.
- Girl also has long legs so she runs one mile SO quickly.
- Don’t even ask her to race because she will beat you, every time.
Mary MacDonald
- Mary does not like to workout alone. That’s why she loves exercise classes!
- She loves that with Zumba, she can dance for exercise.
- Girl loves cycling too and will try to convince everyone else to join her for a class.
- Hot yoga? Pilates? She’s there.
- She’ll even sign up for a water aerobics class and make friends with the sweet elderly women there.
- For her, working out is more of a social opportunity than anything. (Though the endorphins are a plus)
- You know Mary has the cutest outfits and leaves everyone wishing they had her clothes.
Pandora Lovegood
- Pandora doesn’t really care about nurturing the body as much as she does the soul and mind. So she’s big into yoga and meditation.
- Honestly, she could, and sometimes does, lead yoga classes for other students in the room of requirement.
- She will do yoga or meditation literally anywhere. Everyone knows not to bother her when she’s doing it.
- Miss girl is flexible though because of it.
- Calmest person you’ll ever meet and will make you try yoga when you’re feeling stressed. (Regulus pretends to hate it but secretly loves when she makes him do it.)
Regulus Black
- This man literally refuses to work out besides when he’s playing quidditch.
- Yet, he’s still fucking fit? Damn Black genes.
- Oh, he does get a lot of exercise from his late night brooding walks by the lake.
- Starting to do yoga a little with Pandora.
- If he does work out, he won’t go to a gym because he hates working out with other people.

A Lesson on Resus Play
“What do you want?” He asked.
“You know what I want.” I said coyly, burying my face in his pec.
“You’re going to have to walk me through this.” He said with a nervous laugh.
I sat up on my knees and studied his face and naked body. His hair was messy from all the activities we’d already engaged in, but his cock was still hard. I knew he wanted me again.
“I’m not going to do anything to you, I’m just going to show you exactly what I want.” I whispered with a devilish grin, and ran my finger down the center of his chest.
“This is entirely unrealistic, uninformational, and uneducational.” I laughed. I leaned down to his face, “first, you’re going to check if I’m breathing. I will try to hold my breath, but sometimes you take that away from me, so I might be. For our purposes, I am not.” I leaned forward and turned my head, so my ear was right over his nose and mouth. “You’re going to listen right above my nose and mouth, and observe my body for any signs of movement. Feel free to use your hands here too.” I put my hand on his chest, feeling his heart under my palm.
I sat up on my knees and looked at him again. He was smiling, but had nothing to say. I dug my fingers into the side of his neck. “Next, you may check for my pulse if you feel inclined. I don’t care either way. I assure you I have one, but for our purposes I do not.” I said laughing. I could feel his under my fingers. He was calm, but I couldn’t help looking at his cock out of the corner of my eye.
“Now that you’ve established I’m not breathing, and I don’t have a pulse, you can begin.” I put one of my hands on the top of his head, the other under his chin and gently tilted his head back. His eyes darted intently from the ceiling to me. “You will then tilt my head back like this,” I said leaning down close to his ear. “At this point you may hear me exhale any air left in my lungs. I try not to breathe for myself during this process. I’m getting off to you controlling my breathing and doing that for me.” I whispered, biting his earlobe as I pulled up.
“Now you will breathe into me, and you’re already pretty good at that.” I smiled. His eyes got big, and I laughed. “I’m not going to do anything to you! I’m just explaining!” We both giggled. “You’re going to hold my nose, and give me one 2 second breath, and then you’re going to turn your head again and observe my body.” I leaned down and kissed him, I pulled up and turned my head to observe his body and rubbed his chest. I imagined what it would be like to breathe into him, but I knew his curiosity wasn’t there yet. “As you watch my body, you’ll see my chest rise and fall with the air you breathed into me. My breasts and nipples will rise with my chest. And then you will give me another two second breath.” I leaned down and kissed him again, and he gently kissed back, pulling me back as I tried to pull away. I giggled and blushed. “And, completely optional, but when you’re doing mouth to mouth, I like it when the hand not holding my nose is under my chin, under my neck or on my chest/tits. I do understand you might need it for stability though.” I said touching his chin, placing my hand under his neck or on his chest the way I’d like.
“Ok, now the fun part. Chest compressions.” I almost moaned compressions. Feeling my clit getting excited at the thought.
“This is the part I’m concerned about. Is this dangerous?” He asked, sitting up. Concern was evident in his voice.
“You’re not going to be pushing hard enough to hurt me. I’ll probably have to get you to push harder when you first try.” I assured him.
“So this isn’t going to cause something bad to happen, then? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“No. In a real situation, you’d probably want to be pushing as hard as physically possible, I wouldn’t be able to handle that. And, you usually only see broken ribs in elderly people with brittle bones. So you don’t need to worry about that. Your ribcage is flexible.” I explained, trying to ease his apprehension.
I shifted over to sit on my knees by his chest. “So, a little rib cage anatomy. You’re going to locate my sternum, which is this long flat part. You can feel it right between my breasts.” I said gently running my fingers up and down his sternum. “On either side of the sternum is cartilage because your ribcage naturally expands and contracts as you breathe. Too far up the chest, there’s no cartilage, so don’t push there. Too far down, and you could hit the xiphoid process which kind of juts out at the bottom of the sternum. That cannot take pressure. Obviously, I’m not actually dead, and if I feel you in the wrong spot, I’ll say something or move you.” I noticed his face was beginning to soften, the nervousness was fading.
I interlocked my fingers in the air to demonstrate how I wanted his to be when they’re on my chest. “You’re going to put one hand on top of the other like this, and interlock your fingers. The heel of your hand needs to be in my sternum. Generally, if your middle finger is lined up with my nipple, you’re in the right spot. And, since I’m not actually a real victim, feel free to grope me. Just make sure the majority of the pressure you’re exerting goes into the heel of your hand.” He smiled a little after I mentioned groping. “As you push down I will sigh and gasp a little, because you will be forcing the air out of my lungs. Since I am trying not to breathe on my own during this process, I can only handle 15 compressions. You will also get tired, and I will start getting sore. After the 15 compressions, you will give me another 2 breaths and just repeat the process. You got it?” I asked.
“Yes.” He whispered. Sitting up.
“Questions? Concerns? Comments? Curiosities? If you don’t feel comfortable, we don’t have to do this. There is 0 pressure or expectations here.” I said, trying to further alleviate and reservations he had, or give him the out if he needed it.
He sat up and put his arm around me and kissed my shoulder. “No, I don’t mind. I just wouldn’t want to do anything that would hurt you. Even all the stuff we did earlier, I’m always looking out for your safety. That’s all.” He said.
“I appreciate that a lot. That’s one of the reasons I want to do this with you. I trust you. You’re not going to hurt me.” I said and kissed him.
“Ok, then. Lie down, (my name), I need to practice.”
The end.
(Might write what happened next, might not.)

Hello! I have a very particular sort of scene that I've been trying to get right for over ten years now and I can't make it work; I hope perhaps you can help.
A husband and wife duo who have Mixed Feelings about one another are trying to break out of a facility. (He was recently discovered to be a spy, she is a conscripted soldier in the facility. She was sent to escort him to execution but hesitated - I'm not sure where, in the cell, in the hall? - and - he took advantage of this hesitation? she was arrested as a traitor? - I don't know that either, yet - and they end up running through the halls together to escape)
The facility is vaguely sci-fi; think Star Wars Original Trilogy-style weapons, and there is space travel, but technology isn't... wildly advanced. Like it's not all digital and holograms and hand-wavey stuff, it's only a little more advanced than what we have available now. (Like SW OT.)
Point A is them in the cell. Point B is them on a spaceship breaking free.
I cannot get them from Point A to Point B with any kind of plausibility, or without staggering incompetence on the part of the soldiers and commanders in the facility.
They would likely be armed with only her sidearm, unless they happened to grab rifles off of further escorts sent with her?
I'm sorry this is so vague, thank you in advance for any help!
Personally, I’m of the opinion that any scene that’s been marinating in the brain for a long time (especially for years) has deeper structural/internal issues than just putting together action. Just from reading your question, I can feel the way you’ve laid this specific scenario out breaking your own suspension of disbelief. You’ve got several problems that have built up over time and, now, they’re all working against you.
Change if it’s Not Working
One of the best pieces of writing advice I ever got came from being forced to memorize my martial arts school’s Ten Steps to Mastery as part of my first test for black belt. I only remember the first five and I can’t guarantee they’re all in order.
Set a goal
Take action
Pay attention to detail
Practice, Practice, Practice
Change if it’s not working
Regardless of whether you’re practicing a front kick or writing a full length novel, flexibility is important. The more we try to force something to work, the less likely it will. Training flaws into your technique means they’ll be more difficult to correct later. So, don’t forget to stop and look at the larger picture if you feel yourself getting stuck.
Remember, change isn’t failure. Writing is a complex process and not every idea, plotline, character moment, or scene is going to work out when fit into a larger context. And that’s okay.
Outside emotional exhaustion and stress, my writer’s block kicks in when I’ve taken a wrong turn in the narrative or am avoiding a difficult emotional moment that my characters need to face before their story can progress. Something has made me/them uncomfortable and instead of facing it, I’m attempting to avoid the uncomfortable feeling by throwing some other distracting piece, usually action, in the way. I call these moments false notes. I usually hit them when I’m coming at the story from an external perspective (what have I seen other characters do in other stories/films?) rather than an internal one. (What would this character do?)
If something isn’t working, stop trying to make it work. Instead look for what you’re missing, and where the pieces aren’t connecting. It’s usually further back than the scene you’re working on.
My characters are always right. I’m either not listening or going about it the wrong way.
Food for thought.
Your Heroes are Reactively Active
We hear a lot from the writing community about the importance of Active Characters. These are characters who are doing things to move the plot forward. They make choices. They take action. Then, there are passive or, what I like to call, reactive characters. They are characters who react to things in their environment, whatever that is, but they’re not actively making choices. Passive characters get a bad rap in American storytelling tradition (more so than in the wider Western storytelling tradition.)
Passive characters really shine when working with characters who are in settings where they’re struggling to survive. In the real world, passivity is one of the best ways to survive abuse. Any victim of long term or systemic abuse can tell you that standing up and fighting back, especially in situations where you have no power or means to change your circumstances, makes the situation exponentially worse. You’ve got to gray rock it out, suppress, and survive.
Lastly, there are characters I like to call reactively active. These are characters who feel like they’re being active but are actually just reacting to actions taken by other characters. They appear a lot in YA Fantasy, but they’re everywhere. And, because these characters are always reacting to another character’s (usually the villain’s) actions and choices, they get an easy out when it comes to escaping narrative consequences for the things they do. It’s a deceptive sleight of hand used to maintain a character’s moral purity. These characters appear active on the surface, but, underneath, they’re passively reacting to the narrative events inflicted on them. They don’t take action. They respond to action with action.
Let’s get back to your scenario.
We have a husband and wife in some sort of heavily or, at least, decently fortified, military installation. The husband has been outed as a spy, put in whatever functions as a prison or holding cell within the complex, and scheduled to be executed. The wife is a loyal soldier who must now choose between her love for her husband and her love of duty.
This has the makings of some good drama.
The first obvious problem point is that these characters are trying to do too many things at once. They’re coming to terms with their deep feelings of betrayal, experiencing a last minute change of heart, making a snap decision to escape, and rapidly coming up with a plan to escape in the heat of the moment. If this feels unbelievable, it’s because it is and, even better, doubles for putting the characters in a reactive or passive state. The wife character isn’t acting, so much as she’s reacting last minute to the immediate, impending danger. That would be fine if she wasn’t also having to help carry the burden of coming up with The Plan.
There’s the surface level here, where the last minute change of heart is mimicking the kinds of behavior seen in countless other forms of media regarding escape scenes. However, this narrative decision happening in the heat of the moment is also allowing the character to skate over the emotional consequences of her own betrayal. She’s not choosing so much as she’s being forced to make a choice. And that is removing her agency.
If she makes the choice earlier, starts putting The Plan in place with the help of some friends/colleagues (even if it happens largely off page) then executes at the cell, she takes back her agency and retains her status as an active character.
The difference here is in the processing time. Characters can’t plausibly escape fortified lock up without a plan or, really, The Plan.
The Narrative Structure of Last Minute Rescues
The first problem in your scenario is that you have two characters, neither of which are doing the pre-planning legwork required to successfully execute The Plan. Rescues are like heists, they either take a village or require characters who are extremely meticulous and actively manipulating the village to fill in the gaps. (James Bond does Option 2 beautifully, but even he has a team behind him.) Usually, both happen to some degree. The burden is segregated out into different pieces for different characters. Normally, there’s at least three. The character locked up is trying to figure out a way to escape, but comes up short. The one on the outside who is putting together the pieces needed to execute the rescue/get away. And, sometimes, the one on the inside who is experiencing a change of heart, who, at the very last minute, turns heel and assists with the rescue (most often in the turn of misfortune where a piece fails and the rescue is at risk of being bungled.)
All of this additional weight/build up/expectation of the non-existent plan is being put on two characters and crammed into a single scene.
Think about the rescue of Princess Leia from the Death Star for a moment. How many characters are required to make that escape work?
Seven.
All of them. If a single character in the entire group is missing, the whole thing falls apart. Even Threepio is necessary, mostly because Artoo can’t talk. This off the cuff, by the seat of our pants rescue requires all seven characters and they still end up bungling it to kill their samurai master.
You need one to turn off the tractor beam so they can actually escape. (Doing the real work.)
You need one to figure out where the princess is being held, unlock the doors, and figure out where they are.
You need two to bullshit past the guards going in and one to pretend to be a prisoner.
You need one to bullshit past the guards a second time to save the one that can’t talk with the floor plan.
You need the princess to be the one to get them back out because she’s the only one with balls.
And none of it mattered because the escape was a trap all along.
While you don’t need these specific roles for everything, escaping from a heavily fortified facility is not a two man job. That’s where the feelings of implausibility and extreme incompetence are coming from. There aren’t enough characters helping to clear the way or be there as a safeguard for when things go wrong. This feeds into the next problem.
Soldiers, Spies, and Their Squads
We have another unintended scenario brewing at the same time. And that’s the exhausted retail employee going on a rampage and slaughtering their surprised colleagues. This really knifes your tension. By reacting to the immediate danger, the wife is not making an active, conscious choice with full knowledge of the consequences, and those consequences are killing people she knows, respects, is friends with, shares a camaraderie, or who are at least familiar to her. These other soldiers aren’t faceless goons. It’s a lot harder to pull the trigger on someone you know than someone you don’t, especially someone who has the same values that you do.
Soldiers aren’t characters who work alone. They have a squad. They’re part of a unit. They have a support network surrounding them that allows them to do their job to the best of their ability. Spies are the same way. They also have a support network which allows them to act to the best of their ability, even when it feels like they’re acting alone. Spies have handlers and they have assets, their job requires they build their own support networks so they have someone who can get into the places where they can’t. Those people may be witting or unwitting assets but they’re still there.
Both of these characters should have fairly extensive support networks to fall back on when in crisis. They’re in crisis. The crisis is both physical and emotional. Where are their people? Two characters who are social archetypes whose jobs and survival during wartime are reliant on building trust and skillful communication have no one willing to put their lives on the line to help them out? They only have each other? That’s staggering incompetence.
Spies aren’t assassins. They’re social animals. Soldiers aren’t lone wolves. They’re social animals. If there’s a structural failure here, it’s happening with your secondary characters. Ignoring the importance of secondary characters is a mistake that a lot of new writers make and I can feel those early mistakes being carried forward in this scene. This is what Hemingway meant when he said, “kill your darlings.” If an idea isn’t working, if it’s holding you back, kill it. Look at the problem and your work from a new angle. One good line or one good scene, regardless of your emotional attachment to it, doesn’t outweigh the entire work.
Plans and Floor Plans
If you’re having trouble coming up with a character’s escape, step back and take a look at the facility itself. Whether it’s breaking in or breaking out, you, the author, need to have a clear visualization of the entire picture so you can find the weaknesses or fracture points.
Plans are easier to conceptualize when you know what the dangers are and what defenses have been put in place to prevent what your characters are attempting. Which parts of the fortress are better fortified than others? Where does this military expect to be attacked? What have they done to prevent it? What are the patrols? Who are the techs? How does the military support itself while fending off attempts to damage its resources? Who handles the supply lines?
The boring minutiae of your world is what makes it feel real. Action is dependent on your world building and this goes deeper than just their weapons. The social systems in place guide how your characters fight. It’s there in how they perceive their environment, and how they recognize usable tools. If you build a functional and consistent world, the action will take care of itself because violence is a natural response to environmental threats. Violence seeks to exploit established systems, to gain an advantage over them. If the violence is imagined separately from the environment, the violence won’t feel real because it’s not reactive and it’s not reacting to environmental stimuli. From there, it’s not logical.
Ask yourself, why do we use guns?
Then ask yourself, why do your characters use guns? What does it allow them to do that they wouldn’t be able to do otherwise? Or, what does the gun do better than other weapons that makes it the preferred choice?
The answer for the real world and your setting might be the same, and they might be different. Both will influence how the character uses their weapon. How they use their weapon guides how they fight. If you’re lost, ask yourself questions.
For example, let’s take a last look at the prison.
Prisons are built with the expectation of keeping multiple people contained for an extended period of time, preventing them from leaving in the event of an escape, and preventing those who are sympathetic from breaking in to rescue them. What have the characters in your setting (not your protagonists) done to facilitate that goal? What safeguards have been put in place to prevent someone from leaving and entering?
In the real world, prisons are built in a way that two people can’t just walk out. There are points of entry and exit that are designed to be remotely controlled from secure locations and cannot be operated or accessed on the ground. You’d need someone (like R2-D2) who can access the remote functions to get someone past the exits that they can’t open themselves.

Alright nuance time! As you might have noticed I’m a fan of Mat/Tuon but the thing that makes them so interesting is the fact that they aren’t a perfect couple and the reason I love Tuon is because she’s complicated so that being said- I think it’s really interesting how unbalanced the amount effort in the relationship is. Mat by far puts more effort into making the relationship work and this is because of two reasons, how they view their respective prophecies, and their cultural differences.
Tuon’s prophecy has a lot more specifics in it, having actual signs to look for unlike Mat who received only a title and told they would marry. Tuon’s prophecy encourages her to take a passive role in the development of the relationship because the signs are all actions that Mat commits on his own, stealing and setting her free. So she waits and watches. Mat meanwhile is given no guidelines, he knows he’ll marry her and he can see that unknowingly his head is already in the noose so to speak. Unlike Tuon, despite accepted the inevitability of fate and no longer running away from it Mat still seeks out ways to enforce his own agency within the confines of fate. If his neck is the noose he’ll jump off the ledge instead of being pushed. The outcome is the same but at least he gets to control it. Mat treats his relationship with Tuon similarly, he won’t passively await a loveless marriage instead he takes steps to get to know her, to find the parts of her that he likes, he makes the active choice to love her. Ironically his desire to have agency is what causes their fated marriage.
Once they begin to persue the relationship their cultures come into play. In Seanchen society the Empress is considered infallible, in Tuon’s mind she’s a divine authority in her own right. While she’s willing to consider and listen to the opinions and advice of those she trusts she believes wholeheartedly that she is not just in the right but righteously so. Mat meanwhile has a view on relationships more akin to our own where compromise is necessary to creating a healthy relationship. Andor where Mat grew up is a matriarchy. While the Two Rivers may not acknowledge the Queen as sovereign, women are still the final authority in Emmonds Field, and an expectation of husbands deferring to their wives. Mat is a pragmatist, as a person he’s willing to bend his own morality for the safety and happiness of the people he loves to the detriment of all else including his own physical and mental well being. This means that while Tuon refuses to change she expects Mat to do so, and Mat is willingly to change for the sake of making the relationship work. He’s willing to tolerate things he wouldn’t otherwise because he wants his marriage with Tuon to be happy and he loves her.
The issue is that because they are fated together Mat is willing to do and put up with just about anything to make it work because that’s the only agency he has in relation to their marriage. Where as Tuon views herself as a passive player in her own fate and expects Mat to bend to fit her world view. This creates a dangerously unbalanced dynamic where all the expectation and pressure of keeping the relationship happy is entirely on Mat.
However we also see that there’s the chance for improvement. Mat might be willing to put up with a lot but he still highly values his own independence and sense of self. So if he views Tuon as threatening that, ie. trying to take his hat or threatening his friends/home he fights back viciously against it. While Tuon is immovable in her beliefs in many ways she can be flexible when needed and she understands when a fight isn’t worth it. And of course, she does love Mat in her own way, she shows this by giving him privileges and listening to his wants and needs. Mat is just stubborn enough and Tuon just flexible enough that growth and improvement are possible.

I’m not sure if this phrase has been coined before, but I really enjoy it.
I found out this morning that (after having to plead my case and present on why it’s relevant to me) I was accepted into a course at Harvard called “Queering the World: Dismantling Heteronormativity in Congregations, Communities, and Organizations” and it’s been life-changing. - Bradley Talbot
[Accessibility Text]
A series of slides that read:
“This is a Breathing Space
This is NOT a “Safe Space”
I try to avoid using the phrase “Safe Space” because I used to think church was safe, until it wasn’t. I used to think my relationships were safe, until they weren’t. I used to think school was safe, until it wasn’t. And even when I’ve found myself most comfortable, I would soon discover how quickly safety can be jeopardized.
And now I understand more why this phrase doesn’t resonate with me. “Safe” implies a destination, a fixed point that requires no need for improvement or challenge or growth.
The reality for many marginalized people is that safety is never fully realized.
Therefore, the pursuit of inclusion must have no destination. Because prejudice and evil are ever evolving, the process of inclusion must continuously progress as well.
I prefer the imagery of “Breathing Space” because breathing is in the moment, active, and life-giving. There may be tension but it is ongoing. It’s flexible. It allows room for all emotion to be expressed. And then it moves on to the next moment.
While this space may strive for safety, I can’t promise that. Though I try not to, I will make mistakes, offend, perpetuate systems of oppression, and wrongly harm others.
What I can promise is to be present. To be alive. To be here, sitting with you. Listening to you.
Breathing with you.“

So, I THINK this could be tagged as Princess Bee, or adjacent, this is mostly me feeling this out on the Miracuclass and attached jobs they’ll have as adults? Tell me how you think it sounds, and if any are WILDLY out of place, I guess.
Marinette - Designer. Has mostly taken over the Agreste brand, and redone it as MDC Designs. While still doing a lot of work herself, she is much better at delegating her time than Gabriel was, so can spend more time with her family.
Adrien - yeah, this one’s a little weird, cause I can sort of see him doing … . just about anything? Keep doing modelling? Sure. Take over Marinette’s parents bakery? Why not. Be a House Spouse? Absolutely! Voice actor, stage manager, set designer- Hell, go really out of left field and be, like, an astrophysicist? Go right ahead! Just … the only thing I can think of, is whatever Adrien does? It NEEDS flexible hours. He is NOT turning into his old man, he needs there to be plentiful family and friends time!
Alya - no brainer, she’s a reporter! Probably taken over from Nadja Chamack as the face of Paris’s news cycle. Or, I could also see her going mostly self-employed, get a bit more freedom in her reporting, but that one would depend, I think.
Nino - couple of things, really. I can see him being a movie producer or director, but I could also see him working in movies as a sound designer. The guy who does sound effects, or creates the sounds needed for a film. Either way, I can see him DJing in his off time. That’s his hobby.
Sabrina - future Mayor of Paris! I weirdly see her as, like, starting going into forensics or criminal law. She didn’t start OUT going for politics, but. Well, shit happened with her dad when she started dating Luka, one thing leads to another, and boom, youngest elected mayor in over two hundred years. She’s damn good at her job, too.
Luka - cause I mentioned him above, he and the band are still doing Kitty Section, but it’s kind of taken a back seat to the whole, ya know, Families they have now. They still make music, still put out new songs, or record covers, might do a local show, but they Don’t tour or anything. Luka himself, I can see as either a local music teacher, some kind of instrument maker, or even the owner of a small record label. Guess it depends.
Juleka - apart from Kitty Section, I can see her still being a model, but she might have stopped to try other things. I can also see her being a photographer, or also a kind of music teacher. Or maybe she and Luka co-manage that little record label, who knows?
Rose - so, Rose is interesting, cause besides Kitty Section, there are there jobs in my head I can see her as REALLY CLEARLY. Either flower shop owner OR Doctor OR head of a charity organization. Not sure what exactly the charity would be, or what kind of doctor, but I can see her as each of these really clearly.
Ivan - besides Kitty Section, weirdly the only thing I can really see Ivan as is a teacher? Not sure why, but like. He just radiates Papa Bear energy? He’s a big hit with younger kids, they just climb all over him, but they will always listen when he talks.
Mylene - I’m thinking stage actress? Like, she still does activism and stuff, but I see her really getting into stage plays, they weirdly are better for her stage fright than recorded shows.
Kim - Olympic swimmer. Or, maybe sport hopper Olympic Athlete? Anyway, he wins a few gold medals, then decides to settle down a little, ends up as a PE teacher.
Max - Game designer. Like, also inventor, he keeps creating new software and hardware to run the games he wants, and people keep trying to get him to be the next Microsoft, and he’s like “Fuck no, I’m making Legend Of Zelda:No Fate, Special Edition, now it comes in VR Chamber version!”
Alix - I … honestly don’t really know. I think she might try professional skater for a year or two, win some competitions. Maybe she eventually starts working at the museum with her brother? But she’s also the only one with a working Miraculous, she might be doing something with that …
Nathaniel - a graphic artist, mostly working on his own comics, but will do commissions for people. Self-employed.
Marc - writer, mostly works on Comics with Nath, but has also published a few short stories, maybe a novel or two. Self-employed.
Kagami - probably a champion fencer, Olympic gold winning even. Rest of the time, might coach a few fencing classes, or work on her art. Might have done a few collabs with Nathaniel, or drawn a few covers for Marc’s books.
Felix - Either ALSO works as a stage actor, OR owns his own studio to make whatever movie or play he wants. Probably employs many of his friends.
Chloé - Off being a kickass lawyer. If she hadn’t gone into law, might have become a realtor.
Zoé - I know actor is popular, but I could see her being a detective, or private investigator. She’s very popular, because she gets great results! … despite the fact she’s always quite put out that the culprit wasn’t a vampire or a ghoul or something.
Lila - if you want to get extremely technical, she’s a freelance writer. That’s what she tells people she does, jets around and writes stories. And she has published a few books, mostly mysteries. But of course, her actual way of getting money is using the Butterfly to con people. She’s even moonlighted as a masked thief a few times. Though she might be looking to shift careers, after a certain news report from Paris goes live …
BONUS:
Aurore & Mirelle - Weather girls, right? Nope, those two are storm chasers! After growing up in Paris at the height of Hawk Moth? They MIGHT have turned into adrenaline junkies. They go around the world, chasing storms, working out the science, and reporting about it on cite to various agencies. They even had their wedding near a tornado! Everyone is VERY happy for them, but also thinks they’re nuts! (They do not, as of me writing this, have kids, because I can see that being the thing that makes them decide “Ya know, we should probably stop chasing hurricanes if we want children.”)
Mme. Bustier - Now the Principal of Dupont.
Nathalie & Emilie - professional grandmas! In all seriousness, Emilie probably helps manage Felix’s studio, while I headcanon Nathalie never really recovers from being Damaged by the Peacock. Like, she’s ok! She’s healthy, and isn’t in danger of falling into a coma! But the damage had physical effects that, for whatever reason, didn’t hit Emilie as hard, but did stick around for Nathalie. Like, she gets short of breath easily, needs more rest than others, I kind of see her with a cane? She’s doing alright, but isn’t up to running any marathons. So Nathalie is enjoying a pleasant retirement. Maybe she works at the museum now, she did used to be a grave robber - “the only difference between a grave robber and an archeologist is one has permission!”
Chester Fester - uh, on paper, he’s a cook, but he keeps getting fired for allowing pests into his workplaces. Then he met Lila, and now I guess if you want to get technical, he’s her personal chef? He does most of the cooking, cause Lila CANNOT cook to save her life, so Chester tries to make sure she’s eating healthy. He also helps out with her schemes, and such, though, so, maybe general housekeeper? Butler? Not really important, I guess, unless he needs one of those to put on his taxes.
(Please include your thoughts, and anyone you think I missed, cause I swear to GOD I’m missing someone!)
-
YES
Okay so like. My notes are mostly gonna be ‘hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah’ because I know I have like. Somewhere in the tag I listed jobs and yeah this is! This is basically it! But let’s go a bit more! In-Depth since we can!
Marinette - Designer baby! It was her dream in the first place and she kinda. Low-key yoinks all of Gabriel’s industry? Like he dies ofc and his fashion company goes to Emilie and Adrien but they’re.... Not really into it? Emilie is fine running the company stuff, but she’s not a designer. Adrien’s decent at the company stuff but also isn’t a designer and really isn’t into Business. They do keep what they can going but when Mari starts making a name for herself, enough that she feels she got the fame on her own terms, she takes over the stuff that’s still running and gets the industry contacts and such.
Adrien - Honestly I think he rolls with having so many options. Mainly stay at home dad, especially when the kids are little. But if Mari asks him to model something, he will. Tom and Sabine need an extra hand in the bakery for a big order/catering? On the job! Get told ‘hey we have a character in a movie your voice would fit?’ sure he’ll come help out!
Alya - hell yeah a reporter! I did debate on if she’d still do more written journalism, but she does like the camera type so yeah taking over for Nadja makes sense!
Nino - Yeah director! He does the sound and such too on his movies. Very much a jack of all trades in that he can step in when he can’t get across to the crew his ideas. (not like in a pretensious way just genuinely ‘idk how to describe this so hand me the wheel’)
Sabrina - I love the Mayor!Sabrina idea so much lmao. Like yeah I think she would’ve been into law more on the ‘well my dad’s a cop and he thinks I’d be good at it’ but then.... yeah between the tensions between him and the Couffaines and then Sabrina learning to think more for herself and some encouragement from others and various circumstances she ends up runnign for mayor. And wins!
Luka - Yeah his main thing is still Kitty Section and yeah no tours. They’re starting to get a little back into the idea of short tours now that the kids are a little older and able to like. Handle themselves for a weekend trip. But yeah shows have to be local like that instead of hopping over to like austraila or some shit.
Rose - mm! I like the doctor one! She’d def work with kids. The charity stuff can kinda be like a side thing of just. Heavily supporting and using her platform of Kitty Section to advertise the charities she supports!
Ivan - this was actually suggested within this AU but he gets to be a music teacher! On top of Kitty Section ofc. But yeah he looks scary but is so soft with his students!
Mylene - Yes! Actress! She gets over a lot of her stagefright(or at least has made it managable) and can be on stage! She does some movies too, but she very much prefers stage acting to film acting!
Kim - Olympic swimmer turned gym teacher? Hell yeah.
Max - 100% game designer. Beautiful.
Alix - honestly I like her working at the museum! She def liked that sort of thing even before she got time travel. Def has a roller derby hobby though.
Nath and Marc - yeah they absolutely still make comics together!
Kagami - olympic fencer! hell yes! And yeah I’d see her being a fencing instructor in the downtime. She def brings Adrien in for a ‘real match’ to spook her students though.
Felix - mm! opens a branch of Graham Films in Paris to make movies there! Works a lot with Nino and Zoé.
Zoé - tbh I love her being the actress but where canon just. Yoinked that from mylene I’m making their differences re: stage v film. So Zoé is more into film than stage. I do like the PI thing though, but maybe in another universe.
Lila - my girl is out here committing crimes! But yeah she’s done various cons. She has /some/ morality so her cons and thefts are usually a little Leverage-esque in that her target has it coming, but def more for profit.
Aurore & Mireille - Ha! I love that! I will note one thing on the like. I actually don’t ship them? Like in theory I like the ship and I’m not like ‘ugh’ when I see it. But usually I have Aurore is gay but Mireille is unfortunately straight.
Bustier - Ye! She’s principal now! Since I’m nice to her in this AU I like. Rewrite everything that went down with her in Season 5 so she’s not ya know fuckin awful at her job. So her being principal is a good thing!
Chester - once again I love him. But yeah ‘officially’ he’s Lila’s personal assistant but he’s just rolling with whatever con she’s doing.

How do I be open to subliminals? I find affirmations and subliminals to be consciously stupid. I will try to get up one day and say my affirmations...then I'll have a voice saying..what stupidity...so...yea...hope you're doing good
I’m not going to waste any time! Here is 2 ways of how to be more open/be able to do affirmative actions without any self-doubt! There is a summary of each one on the very bottom of the list. Though, if you feel like you need more detail, feel free to read the rest! I kind of got lazy on the last few ones, so I apologize for the shortness and lack of information.
Open Mindset
Embrace cognitive flexibility:
Cognitive flexibility, a key component of an open mindset, refers to the ability to adapt our thinking and behavior in response to changing situations. Research in cognitive psychology has shown that individuals with higher cognitive flexibility are better equipped to handle novel challenges and are more receptive to new ideas. A study published in the journal "Frontiers in Psychology" (2019) found that cognitive flexibility is positively correlated with creativity and problem-solving abilities. To cultivate cognitive flexibility, engage in activities that challenge your usual thought patterns. This could include solving puzzles, learning a new language, or engaging in debates on unfamiliar topics. Neuroplasticity research suggests that such activities can strengthen neural pathways associated with flexible thinking. A longitudinal study by Gajda et al. (2017) demonstrated that individuals who regularly engaged in cognitively demanding tasks showed significant improvements in their ability to adapt to new situations and consider multiple perspectives.Additionally, mindfulness practices have been shown to enhance cognitive flexibility. A meta-analysis published in the "Journal of Cognitive Enhancement" (2020) found that regular mindfulness meditation can increase cognitive flexibility by improving attention control and reducing cognitive rigidity. By incorporating mindfulness exercises into your daily routine, you can train your brain to be more open and adaptable to new information and experiences.
Summary: Cultivating cognitive flexibility through challenging activities, puzzles, and mindfulness practices can significantly enhance your ability to maintain an open mindset, as supported by numerous studies in cognitive psychology and neuroscience.
Practice active listening and empathy:
Active listening and empathy are crucial skills for developing an open mindset. These abilities allow us to truly understand and consider perspectives different from our own. Research in social psychology has consistently shown that individuals who practice active listening and empathy are more likely to engage in constructive dialogue and be open to changing their views when presented with new information.A study published in the "Journal of Personality and Social Psychology" (2018) found that individuals who scored higher on empathy measures were more likely to consider opposing viewpoints and less likely to engage in confirmation bias. This suggests that developing empathy can help overcome cognitive biases that often hinder open-mindedness. To improve your empathy, try perspective-taking exercises, where you consciously put yourself in someone else's shoes and imagine their thoughts and feelings.Active listening, which involves fully concentrating on, understanding, and responding to the speaker, has been shown to improve interpersonal relationships and increase openness to new ideas. A study in the "International Journal of Listening" (2021) demonstrated that individuals trained in active listening techniques were more likely to change their opinions after engaging in discussions with people holding different views. Practice active listening by focusing intently on the speaker, asking clarifying questions, and summarizing what you've heard to ensure understanding.
Summary: Developing active listening skills and empathy through perspective-taking exercises and focused attention can significantly enhance your ability to understand and consider diverse viewpoints, leading to a more open mindset.
Cultivate intellectual humility:
Intellectual humility, the recognition that our beliefs and opinions may be incorrect or incomplete, is a cornerstone of an open mindset. Research in cognitive and social psychology has shown that individuals with higher intellectual humility are more open to new information, less dogmatic in their views, and more willing to revise their beliefs when presented with compelling evidence.A study published in the "Journal of Positive Psychology" (2019) found that intellectual humility was positively associated with openness to experience, curiosity, and tolerance for ambiguity. These traits are all crucial for maintaining an open mindset. To cultivate intellectual humility, practice acknowledging the limitations of your knowledge and being open to learning from others, regardless of their background or status.Furthermore, research has shown that intellectual humility can be developed through specific interventions. A study in the "Journal of Experimental Social Psychology" (2020) demonstrated that participants who engaged in regular self-reflection exercises, focusing on times they were wrong or changed their minds, showed significant increases in intellectual humility over time. Incorporate such reflective practices into your routine, perhaps through journaling or guided meditation, to foster a more humble and open approach to knowledge and beliefs.
Summary: Cultivating intellectual humility through self-reflection exercises and acknowledging the limitations of one's knowledge can significantly enhance openness to new ideas and willingness to revise beliefs, key components of an open mindset.
Seek out diverse perspectives:
Actively seeking out diverse perspectives is crucial for maintaining an open mindset. Exposure to a wide range of viewpoints challenges our existing beliefs and broadens our understanding of the world. Research in social psychology has consistently shown that diversity in social networks and information sources leads to more creative problem-solving and reduced prejudice.A study published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" (2020) found that individuals with more diverse social networks were more likely to consider multiple perspectives when making decisions and were less susceptible to groupthink. To diversify your perspectives, make a conscious effort to engage with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and belief systems. This could involve joining diverse social groups, attending multicultural events, or participating in online forums with a global audience.Additionally, research has shown that exposure to diverse viewpoints through media consumption can significantly impact open-mindedness. A longitudinal study in the "Journal of Communication" (2021) demonstrated that individuals who regularly consumed news from a variety of sources, including those with opposing political leanings, showed greater political tolerance and were more likely to change their views on controversial topics. Make an effort to diversify your information sources, including books, news outlets, and social media, to ensure you're exposed to a wide range of perspectives.
Summary: Actively seeking out diverse perspectives through social interactions and varied media consumption can significantly enhance your ability to consider multiple viewpoints and maintain an open mindset, as supported by research in social psychology and communication studies.
Embrace failure and learn from mistakes:
Developing a healthy relationship with failure and viewing mistakes as learning opportunities is essential for maintaining an open mindset. Research in educational psychology and neuroscience has shown that individuals who embrace a growth mindset, seeing abilities as developable rather than fixed, are more likely to persist in the face of challenges and remain open to new learning experiences.A seminal study by Carol Dweck, published in the "Journal of Personality and Social Psychology" (2007), demonstrated that individuals with a growth mindset were more likely to tackle difficult tasks, persist in the face of setbacks, and ultimately achieve higher levels of performance. To cultivate this mindset, reframe failures as opportunities for growth and learning. When faced with a setback, ask yourself what you can learn from the experience and how you can improve in the future.Neuroscientific research has also shown that embracing failure can lead to enhanced learning and memory consolidation. A study published in "Nature Communications" (2019) found that making mistakes during learning actually led to better long-term retention of information, provided that the mistakes were followed by corrective feedback. This suggests that creating an environment where it's safe to make mistakes and learn from them can significantly enhance cognitive flexibility and openness to new ideas.
Summary: Embracing failure and viewing mistakes as learning opportunities, in line with a growth mindset, can significantly enhance cognitive flexibility and openness to new experiences, as supported by research in educational psychology and neuroscience.
Practice metacognition:
Metacognition, or thinking about one's own thinking processes, is a powerful tool for developing an open mindset. By becoming more aware of our thought patterns, biases, and decision-making processes, we can more easily identify and challenge closed-minded thinking. Research in cognitive psychology has shown that individuals with strong metacognitive skills are better able to adapt their thinking strategies and are more open to new information.A study published in the "Journal of Experimental Psychology: General" (2018) found that individuals who engaged in regular metacognitive reflection were more likely to recognize their own biases and adjust their beliefs when presented with contradictory evidence. To improve your metacognitive skills, try implementing regular reflection practices. This could involve keeping a thought journal, where you analyze your decision-making processes and identify potential biases or assumptions.Additionally, research has shown that specific metacognitive training can enhance open-mindedness. A study in the "Journal of Cognitive Enhancement" (2021) demonstrated that participants who underwent a six-week metacognitive training program showed significant improvements in their ability to consider alternative viewpoints and revise their beliefs. The training included exercises such as identifying cognitive biases, practicing perspective-taking, and analyzing the sources of one's beliefs. Incorporate similar exercises into your routine to enhance your metacognitive abilities and foster a more open mindset.
Summary: Practicing metacognition through regular reflection and specific training exercises can significantly enhance your ability to recognize biases, consider alternative viewpoints, and maintain an open mindset, as supported by research in cognitive psychology.
Engage in continuous learning:
Continuous learning is a cornerstone of maintaining an open mindset. By consistently exposing ourselves to new information and skills, we keep our minds flexible and receptive to novel ideas. Research in educational psychology and neuroscience has shown that lifelong learning not only enhances cognitive function but also promotes adaptability and openness to new experiences.A longitudinal study published in "Psychological Science" (2019) found that individuals who engaged in regular learning activities throughout their lives showed greater cognitive flexibility and were more open to changing their views when presented with new evidence. This effect was observed across various types of learning, from formal education to self-directed study and skill acquisition. To foster continuous learning, set aside time each week for learning new skills or exploring unfamiliar subjects. This could involve taking online courses, reading books on diverse topics, or engaging in hands-on learning experiences.Neuroscientific research has also demonstrated the benefits of continuous learning on brain plasticity. A study in "Nature Neuroscience" (2020) showed that adults who engaged in intensive learning experiences, such as learning a new language or musical instrument, exhibited increased neural plasticity and improved cognitive function. This increased plasticity was associated with greater adaptability in thinking and problem-solving. Consider taking up challenging new hobbies or skills that push you out of your comfort zone to maximize these cognitive benefits.
Summary: Engaging in continuous learning through diverse educational activities and skill acquisition can significantly enhance cognitive flexibility and promote an open mindset, as supported by research in educational psychology and neuroscience.
Practice mindfulness and meditation:
Mindfulness and meditation practices have been shown to have profound effects on cognitive flexibility and openness to new experiences. Research in cognitive neuroscience has demonstrated that regular mindfulness practice can alter brain structure and function in ways that promote open-minded thinking and reduce cognitive rigidity.A study published in the journal "Frontiers in Psychology" (2021) found that individuals who engaged in an 8-week mindfulness meditation program showed significant improvements in cognitive flexibility and reduced confirmation bias compared to a control group. The researchers attributed these changes to enhanced attentional control and reduced emotional reactivity, both of which are crucial for maintaining an open mindset. To incorporate mindfulness into your routine, try starting with short daily meditation sessions, gradually increasing the duration as you become more comfortable with the practice.Furthermore, neuroimaging studies have revealed the neural mechanisms underlying the benefits of mindfulness for open-mindedness. A study in "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" (2020) showed that long-term meditators exhibited increased connectivity between brain regions associated with self-reflection and those involved in processing different perspectives. This enhanced connectivity was correlated with greater cognitive flexibility and openness to new ideas. In addition to formal meditation, try incorporating mindfulness into your daily activities, such as mindful eating or walking, to cultivate a more open and aware state of mind throughout the day.
Summary: Practicing mindfulness and meditation can significantly enhance cognitive flexibility and reduce cognitive rigidity, promoting a more open mindset, as supported by research in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging studies.
Cultivate curiosity:
Curiosity, the desire to seek out new knowledge and experiences, is a fundamental driver of an open mindset. Research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience has shown that curiosity not only motivates learning but also enhances memory formation and decision-making processes, all of which contribute to a more open and flexible approach to thinking.A study published in the journal "Neuron" (2018) demonstrated that curiosity activates the brain's reward system, leading to enhanced learning and memory consolidation. The researchers found that participants were more likely to remember information they were curious about, even if it wasn't directly related to their initial question. To cultivate curiosity, make a habit of asking questions about the world around you and seeking out answers. Keep a list of topics you're interested in learning more about and dedicate time to exploring them.Additionally, research has shown that curiosity can be deliberately cultivated through specific practices. A study in the "Journal of Positive Psychology" (2020) found that individuals who engaged in regular "curiosity interventions," such as exploring new environments, trying new activities, or engaging in thought experiments, showed significant increases in trait curiosity over time. These increases were associated with greater openness to experience and cognitive flexibility. Try incorporating novel experiences into your routine, such as visiting new places, trying unfamiliar foods, or engaging in conversations with people from different backgrounds, to stimulate your curiosity and promote a more open mindset.
Summary: Cultivating curiosity through questioning, exploration of new topics, and engaging in novel experiences can significantly enhance learning, memory consolidation, and overall openness to new ideas, as supported by research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience.
Develop critical thinking skills:
Critical thinking is essential for maintaining an open mindset, as it allows us to evaluate information objectively and make reasoned judgments. Research in cognitive psychology and education has shown that individuals with strong critical thinking skills are more likely to consider multiple perspectives, question their own assumptions, and revise their beliefs when presented with compelling evidence.A meta-analysis published in the "Review of Educational Research" (2019) found that explicit instruction in critical thinking skills led to significant improvements in students' ability to analyze arguments, evaluate evidence, and make informed decisions. These improvements were associated with greater openness to new ideas and reduced susceptibility to misinformation. To enhance your critical thinking skills, practice breaking down complex issues into their component parts, evaluating the credibility of sources, and considering alternative explanations for phenomena you encounter.Furthermore, research has shown that specific cognitive strategies can enhance critical thinking and promote open-mindedness. A study in the "Journal of Cognitive Psychology" (2021) demonstrated that individuals who regularly engaged in "cognitive debiasing" exercises, such as considering opposite viewpoints or generating alternative hypotheses, showed significant improvements in their ability to overcome cognitive biases and maintain an open mind when evaluating new information. Incorporate these strategies into your thinking process by deliberately seeking out opposing viewpoints on issues you care about and challenging your own initial assumptions.
Summary: Developing critical thinking skills through explicit practice, analysis of complex issues, and cognitive debiasing exercises can significantly enhance your ability to evaluate information objectively and maintain an open mindset, as supported by research in cognitive psychology and education.
Consistency
Establish a daily reflection routine: Set aside time each day to reflect on your thoughts and beliefs. This consistent practice can help you identify patterns of self-doubt and fixed beliefs, making it easier to address them over time.
Keep a progress journal: Consistently document your achievements, no matter how small. This creates a tangible record of growth, which can combat self-doubt and challenge fixed beliefs about your capabilities.
Set and review goals regularly: Establish a consistent schedule for setting and reviewing goals. This practice helps maintain focus on personal growth and provides opportunities to challenge limiting beliefs.
Engage in daily learning: Commit to learning something new every day, even if it's small. This consistent exposure to new information can gradually shift fixed beliefs and reduce self-doubt about your ability to grow.
Implement a 'challenge beliefs' exercise: Regularly question your beliefs and assumptions. Set a specific time each week to critically examine a belief you hold and consider alternative viewpoints.
Engage in consistent skill-building: Regularly practice and improve skills related to areas where you experience self-doubt. Consistent effort and visible progress can help shift fixed beliefs about your abilities.
Maintain a gratitude practice: Consistently acknowledge what you're grateful for, including your own qualities and achievements. This can help counter negative self-talk and reinforce a more positive, growth-oriented mindset.

“Oh? Well then! If the boy wants to stay, I ought to let him,” Francis declared, albeit with the kind of glint of mischief about him that said he knew it might cause problems and he was all too prepared not to care.
Thomas let out a mirthful and amused snort as he glanced toward the porthole-shaped window yet again.
“You want to know my opinion of him? I’ll tell you, Thomas,” Francis began--
“--The Lieutenant has so far met and exceeded expectations in his role as Engineering Officer--”
“He’s shown confidence and competence in his tasks, has proven to be judicious and methodical when delegating between our research teams.”
When it comes to things he’s less familiar with, Arthur is flexible, imaginative and humble--he’s willing to learn, to listen, even to those below his rank. And he isn’t blind to all the wild possibilities of how many things can go wrong up here.”
“As I recall, I asked for the unofficial verdict,” Thomas noted.
“Patience Thomas, I’m getting there,” Francis airily replied.
“... Arthur is a good lad, a decent enough man,” Francis went on.
“As you said, he has a good head on his shoulders. He gets on well with his fellows and subordinates. Despite his... records of... mischief from his school days at the Academy, he’s not a fool, either. Doesn’t do things that risk other people’s safety--”
“--appears to be actively concerned for the base personnel. Hell, he seems to actually care about the research we’re doing here, if you can believe it.”
“I believe he may actually care a little too much, in terms of attachments, taking things personally. He can get flustered, hot-headed, even insubordinate--”
“--So I’ve seen,” Thomas interrupted with another grin. “And coming from you, those are all compliments.”
With a roll of his eyes being the only response he gave to dignify Thomas’ comment, Francis carried on yet again:
“My point, Thomas, is that he’s been sheltered. I’ve scarcely seen anyone manage to thrive here, but he still has a lot to learn. The Lieutenant has potential, and if the King wants us to babysit his son at the arse end of the world, then I’m happy to keep him.”
“Can’t stand old George anyway,” Francis muttered as an afterthought, eyes drifting to follow Thomas’ gaze. Thomas let out a dry laugh of acknowledgement and settled more comfortably in his chair. Francis would say nothing further out of respect for the monarch, but being annoyed by him and saying so was fair game.
“...What I’d like to know is, what do you mean by ‘distracted’?” Francis suddenly asked. “You said he’s been distracted.”
Following a few moments of thought, Thomas nodded quietly. “... He’s been getting that look in his eyes. It’s the one you have when you’ve got somethin’ on your mind--”
--Francis huffed and his cheeks tinged with grudging color--
“--I think you should speak with him, Francis. Ask him what’s on his mind.”
“Me?” Francis asked, mildly incredulous. It’s not that he didn’t want to try to help Arthur, but he was definitely not know for being gentle and soft.
Thomas, however, knew him better than that.
“I’d have done it, but you’re the one he follows around like a little duckling.”
With another huff, Francis relented. Thomas, in his strange ways and long-haired wisdom, was right.
”Alright, alright. I’ll talk to him,” Francis relented.
The two men settled into the comfortable silence that can only be found between old friends well-acquainted with each other’s company, and watched the snow fall pale on the desolate world outside.
- - -
In the present once more, the Captain Commander and Operations Officer wrap up their discussion on the Heir Apparent’s performance and demeanor on the Arctic research team. And also flirt a little.
A number of things have been set up and it’s time to explore Arthur’s time away from home, as well as how his absence has affected the loved ones he left behind.

You know what I just realized?/rh I made a “Would I date that JoJo villain” for the mains but what about ✨️Mah Bois✨️. It’s rather rude of me to forget about them, I would say.
My answer is “Yes” to all of them. Good night.
.
.
.
...You’re still here? Okay, I guess I’ll give you my answers, but also some bullet points on “how many drinks it would take to smash.”
Gelato + Sorbet: No :) six drinks to smash though.
They are a “two for one deal,” no exceptions. I say “No” simply because we don’t know enough about them for me to make a full opinion. The headcanons are fun, y’all, but not enough for a poly-cule.
~ They probably into some freaky shit.
~ Welp, I’d be there for a good time, not a long time.
~ Threesome
Formaggio: Yes and five shots to smash
But we’d break up after about a month or he would break up with me after a week after finding out that I’m “boring.” He has that “jock/athlete who is secretly into the nerdy librarian” vibe. So I imagine it like this, “No. I don’t want to go out drinking, Formaggio;” “No, I don’t want to watch the game with you.” We’d be a cute couple and all, but the bond isn’t there since we have different interests outside of La Squadra. I’d also want someone who is more earnest. That’s the best way I can explain it. He wouldn’t be a bad boyfriend, he’d just need someone who vibes well with him.
~ “Do you wash your hands?” Not even just your hands, do you wash ya ass?
~ Honest questions
~ Seems like he’d be a one night though
Illuso: Yes and seven shots to smash
~ Minus a shot because I want to play with his cat
He’s hot, yes. We’d date and hang out three times and then we’d separate and disappear into the void. Just ghost each other. The only thing he’d claim out of these dates is a kiss good night. It would take seven shots to fuck and then maybe we’d stay together for the sex but let’s be ffr, he’s not in it for the long term relationship.
~ Probably never shuts up
~ Narcissistic
~ Will talk in third person
~ At least he’s pretty
Pesci: No, but if I were feeling up to it, one shot to smash
You’re timid. I’m reserved. If you don’t care, I don’t care. He's not my favorite. This relationship is over before it ever starts. The only way even meet is through Prosciutto.
~ He might need some guidance because he’s a little nervous.
~ He’d be able to listen and would oddly know aftercare.
~ He picked up what Not to do by watching women leave Prosciutto.
~ Cute but not my favorite
Prosciutto: No. To smash it would take nine shots… or more.
He looks good but he already lost because he looks like he’d backhand me. Physically or verbally, I will let you decide. Especially if I see him and Pesci in the middle of one of his pep talks. I will be walking in the opposite direction. Do I trust him to be a gentleman? No, not at all. And… that generally goes for all of La Squadra but I’m doing this in a case by case scenario.
~ He’s hot but. . .
~ He’ll either nag me or lecture me the entire time.
~ Try hard Dom, feels like he wouldn’t listen to me
~ Not a night I’d want to repeat.
~ Tried to teach Pesci but failed
Melone: Yes with ZERO shots to smash
Probably the only one in this group that I would date for at least three months. Besides Risotto as my kin, Melone falls into, hmmmmmm, third place on my JJBA kin list. I’m all for perverted Melone but manga Melone hits different. He’s calculating, analytical, and precise with what he needs to activate Baby Face. I wouldn’t consider him vanilla. He’s wearing a cut-up jumpsuit; he’s probably a little freaky but also attentive to his partner, you know.
~ Another fun one in bed
~ Looks flexible and willing to experiment.
~ He’s also really pretty
~ Plus 3 shots because of his (anime only) foot fetish. Do not lick my feet, Melone.
~ Def would like to exchange numbers for booty call
Ghiaccio: Yes with zero shots to smash
~ Everyone, shut up. I love him.
He screm. A lot. Ghiaccio, we can hear you from the opposite side of the building. I’d find that endearing, as long as his screms aren’t pointed at me. It’s also one thing to get scremed at as a lecture *stares at Prosciutto* versus someone you know habitually screms on command/trigger. Like, “Why is this man screaming into his phone about books and leaves?¿ It’s– It’s pronounced Venezia. Thank you, you told me that yesterday… and the day before.” It would be a slow burn relationship. Yes, I know I spelled “scream” as “screm.”
~ ✨️Angry Sex ✨️
~ Likes to verbally degrade his sex partner
~ I would leave that room with bruises, but I’m okay with that
~ If he smashes like he smashed his car’s dashboard….. hhhngghghgh.
~ Honestly, all he has to do his pick me up and press me against a wall.
~ I’d suck his dick at the snap of his fingers.
Risotto Nero: No. Two shots to smash.
~ ???
I was gonna say, “Maybeee,” but since I have doubt my answer is a full “No.” We look like we would date. Just two goths in un-gothly places for a date. How much in common would we have though?/rh I don't see our relationship lasting very long. I give it…. Hm, 2 weeks. Maybe 4 weeks of the sex is good. For it to go even further, one of us must be overly affectionate. . . We all know that’s not going to be him. . . . . . Sure, let's pretend that I'm cuddly outside of fanfics.
~ Looks like he would groan and grunt a lot
~ I feel like he’d toss me around a lot.
~ “If it doesn’t hurt a little, it’s not fun.”
~ “Accidentally,” forgets your safe word the first time.
~ Another one where I leave with bruises.
~ 10/10 would like to smash again

Witchcraft Ask Game
Repost from thecupidwitch
What drew you to witchcraft?
It’s always been part of my life since my mom is a practicing witch, and dad is a Druid.
Do you follow a specific witchcraft tradition, or are you eclectic?
I am largely eclectic with a leaning on Celtic and folk practices.
Do you believe in the Threefold Law or karma in witchcraft?
I believe that the energy you give is the energy you get.
What advice would you give to someone who feels called to witchcraft but is unsure where to begin?
Read all the things: the more you’re exposed to the more you’ll discover what actually works for you, don’t rely on one teacher/author/method forever.
Take everything with a grain of salt: Everyone has their opinions and many will try to tell you what to do. It’s nice to listen, but ultimately your path and choices are your own.
There are no stupid questions: Don’t ever feel bad about asking others for help, resources, or opinions. No one knows everything, especially at the beginning.
What tools or items are absolutely essential for your practice?
Me. Honestly I’m very flexible with what I do and not attached to any particular tools or materials.
Have you ever had a dream or vision that felt prophetic?
Oh yeah. It’s not a feeling I like though.
What do you think of Aleister Crowley?
Mmm, I’ve heard of him but haven’t ever been interested.
Do you think witches can create their own deities?
I don’t think it’s entirely impossible, but I don’t think it’s any easy thing to do or something that can be done by one person or generation alone. I think it’s more likely and common for witches to create shells or masks for existing deities to use to facilitate, ore comfortable communication.
How do you feel about people worshiping deities from pop culture?
You do you boo. ( see the answer above for why )
What’s your opinion on the idea that "all magic comes with a cost"?
Monetary cost? No. Mental, emotional, energetic, or physical cost? Yes. The “price” may not come from you, and it may not be taken immediately, but there is a balance that is naturally maintained whether we know it or not.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you during a spell?
I don’t know about weird, but the first spell I was ever taught (when I was like 6) was a green light spell (as in for traffic lights) and to this day I’m shocked and delighted when it works.
If you could cast one spell right now, what would it be and why?
I’m not a big spell worker, but when I do work magic it’s usually protective. Given what’s going on in the world and the us right now, if someone asked I would in a heartbeat pass on any of the defensive charms I carry.
What’s your belief on the afterlife, and how does it affect your spiritual practices?
It exists, but I’m not really worried about it.
What’s your opinion on the importance of connecting with the land in witchcraft?
I believe it’s important to connect to the world around you, but not necessarily the land. For a long time I was far more connected to the sky and stars than the ground beneath my feet, and my mom is someone who has always held a stronger connection to bodies of water. Of course acknowledging the land is important, but it’s ok if the earth isn’t what your craft is connected to.
How do you feel about using magic to influence others?
I am a huge believer in free will and the responsibilities and consequences that having it brings. I won’t work magic to influence others, and hate the idea of such magic being worked on me by others.
What’s your opinion on hexing or cursing?
You do you boo. It’s not a kind of magic that I actively work with, but as someone who believes in balance I’m not going to gasp and clutch my pearls over its existence.
Do you believe in spiritual psychosis?
Yes.

Lifestyle Tips for Stronger Bones and Joints
Balanced Nutrition: Feed Those Bones
A well-rounded diet rich in essential nutrients is fundamental to orthopedic health. Think of it as nourishing your bones from the inside out. Here’s what to include:
Calcium: Your bones crave it! Get it from dairy products (like yogurt and cheese), dark leafy greens (spinach and kale), fortified cereals, and even mushrooms.
Vitamin D: This dynamic duo partners with calcium for bone strength. Catch some sunlight (hello, vitamin D synthesis!) and consider fortified milk alternatives.
Fatty Fish: Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are like little bone-boosting superheroes—they’re packed with omega-3 fatty acids.
Eggs: Not just for breakfast! Eggs provide protein and vitamin D.
Fortified Cereals: Start your day with a crunchy bowl of fortified goodness.
Hydration: Water keeps your joints lubricated. Sip away!
Weight-Bearing Exercises: Be Gravity’s BFF
Weight-bearing exercises are like bone parties—they invite gravity over for a workout. These activities require bones and muscles to work against gravity while supporting your body weight. Try these:
Walking: It’s simple, effective, and bone-friendly. Take a stroll—bonus points if it’s in a scenic park.
Running or Jogging: For those who love a little more bounce in their step.
Yoga: Balance, flexibility, and zen vibes—all in one practice.
Stair Climbing: Elevate your bone health (literally) by taking the stairs.
Hiking: Nature + bones = a match made in musculoskeletal heaven.
Joint-Friendly Activities: Move with Grace
Gentle on the joints, fierce for overall health:
Swimming: It’s like a joint spa day. Dive in!
Cycling: Pedal power without the impact.
Pilates: Core strength meets joint love.
Tai Chi: Ancient wisdom for modern joints.
Mind Your Posture: Stand Tall, Stay Strong
Good posture isn’t just about looking confident—it’s about spine health. Imagine your spine saying, “Thanks for not slouching!”
When sitting, keep your feet flat, shoulders relaxed, and spine aligned.
Lift with your legs, not your back. Your spine will send you virtual high-fives.
Think of Injury Prevention: Safety First!
Helmets, knee pads, and sensible shoes—your bone guardians.
Warm up before exercise. Your muscles and joints appreciate the heads-up.
Listen to your body. If it says, “Hey, ease up,” pay attention.
Avoid Risk Factors: Be Bone-Smart
Smoking and excessive alcohol? Not cool for your bones.
Watch your step—literally. Falls are no fun for bones.
Regular check-ups with an orthopedic specialist? Yes, please!
So, my bone-loving friend, let’s raise our imaginary glasses (filled with calcium-rich milk, of course) to healthier bones and happier joints! 🥛💪🏼 If you have any more questions or need a virtual cheerleader, I’m here! 🌟

My In-Laws are Obsessed with Me
Chapter 4
The restaurant buzzed with the hum of conversation and clinking silverware as I sat across from the author of our animation project. We were here to discuss the potential series, a new chapter in our creative journey. The author, Lisa, was a vibrant woman in her early forties with an infectious enthusiasm for storytelling.
“So, Kelly, I’ve been thinking about expanding on some of the characters we introduced in the movie,” Lisa began, her eyes lighting up with excitement. “I want to delve deeper into their backstories and add a few new arcs. What do you think?”
“That sounds fantastic, Lisa,” I replied, leaning forward. “We can definitely bring more depth to the characters. I’ve been playing around with some ideas for new scenes and character interactions. For instance, the main protagonist’s journey could be expanded to show more of their internal struggles and growth.”
“Exactly! And I also want to introduce a new antagonist,” Lisa continued, her hands gesturing animatedly. “Someone who challenges the protagonist in unexpected ways. I think it will add more tension and keep the audience engaged.”
As we continued to brainstorm, our food arrived. We took a moment to enjoy the meal, but our conversation never waned. Lisa’s passion was contagious, and I found myself getting more excited about the project with each passing minute.
“So, how do you envision the series being structured?” I asked between bites of my salad.
“I see it as a mix of episodic and serialized storytelling,” Lisa explained. “Each episode would have a self-contained story, but there would be overarching plots that span the entire series. It gives us the flexibility to explore different themes and character developments.”
“I love that approach,” I said, nodding. “It allows for creativity while keeping the audience invested in the long-term story.”
We continued to discuss various elements of the series, from visual style to potential voice actors. The meeting was productive and inspiring, and by the time we finished, we had a solid outline for the first season.
“Well, this has been great, Kelly,” Lisa said as she glanced at her watch. “I hate to cut this short, but I have another meeting to get to.”
“Of course, Sarah. Thanks for meeting with me,” I replied, standing up and shaking her hand. “I’ll start working on the initial drafts and get them to you as soon as possible.”
“Sounds perfect. Talk soon!” Lisa waved as she walked away, leaving me alone at the table.
I sat back down, savoring the last few sips of my drink, reflecting on the exciting new project ahead. It felt good to have a clear direction and a creative partner as passionate as Lisa.
“Excuse me, are you Aunt Kelly?”
I looked up to see a little girl standing beside my table, her wide eyes filled with curiosity. I blinked, trying to place her face, and then it clicked – this was John’s niece, Lily. She looked up at me with a shy smile, her tiny hands clutching a stuffed animal.
“Lily! Hi there,” I said, smiling warmly. “How have you been?”
Before Lily could answer, a woman approached us, and I recognized her as John’s cousin, Sarah. She smiled at me, and there was a mix of surprise and warmth in her eyes.
“Kelly, it’s so good to see you,” Sarah said, giving me a quick hug. “Lily has been asking about you. She misses her Aunt Kelly.”
“It’s great to see you too, Sarah,” I replied, returning the hug. “I’ve missed you all as well. How have you been?”
“We’ve been good. Busy, but good,” Sarah answered, then turned to her daughter. “Lily, why don’t you tell Aunt Kelly about your new school?”
Lily’s face lit up, and she launched into an animated description of her new school, her friends, and the activities she loved. I listened, feeling a pang of nostalgia for the times I had spent with John’s family. Despite everything that had happened between John and me, I had always felt a deep bond with his relatives.
“That sounds wonderful, Lily,” I said once she finished. “I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying school.”
Sarah smiled at me, a hint of sadness in her eyes. “We’ve missed having you around, Kelly. You were always a part of our family.”
I felt a lump in my throat but managed to keep my voice steady. “I’ve missed you all too. Life just got… complicated.”
Sarah nodded, understanding. “We should catch up properly sometime. Maybe over dinner?”
“I’d like that,” I replied, genuinely meaning it.
We chatted for a bit longer, catching up on family news and reminiscing about old times. Eventually, Sarah glanced at her watch.
“We should get going, but it was so good to see you, Kelly,” she said, giving me another hug. “Don’t be a stranger.”
“I won’t. Take care, Sarah. Bye, Lily,” I said, waving as they walked away.
I sat back down, feeling a mix of emotions. Seeing Sarah and Lily had been unexpected but oddly comforting. It was a reminder that, despite the changes and challenges, some connections remained strong.
As I gathered my things and prepared to leave, I felt a renewed sense of determination. The past was behind me, but the future was full of possibilities. And with a new project on the horizon, I had plenty to look forward to.
