So, I always try to sync my heartbeat or pulse with the song’s tempo, so I’m exactly in the groove when I play. It works really well when you match your rhythm to the song. And right now, my heart rate is at 90, so what I do is just a few push-ups to get it back up to 120..." (proceeds highly motivated to do his push ups for the sake of music)

Paul & Richard kiss

Little post about one of my favorite kisses from the 2022 tour. There's a few different angles already "giffed", but I needed this particular sequence to write about.

The beginning is so cool with Paul's somewhat challenging look, like "okay, here we go, bring it on!"

The guitarists get close to each other and keep prolonging the final notes of Auslaender. Paul makes a gesture with his right hand, I'm not really sure what he's trying to do - tease Richard that he'll spoil something with his guitar stings?

Anyway, Richard remains unphased. He lifts his gaze at the other man and soon... Ohhh, you can easily tell when the idea comes to his mind.

He starts smirking mischievously and all his attention gets focused on Paul's cute little nose. Not for the first time though - we could watch the little pat on Paul's nose from Richard earlier on (2019, obviously the end of Puppe):

But what Richard does here is plain off limits. He tickles his fellow guitarist's nose with his predatory gaze and lips stretched into an extremely evil grin for almost 5 seconds. He stays alert, though, for any signs of Paul's disapproval, and when the rhythm guitarist moves his head, probably slightly annoyed anyway, Richard hesitates for a moment. But obviously seeing that Paul is hardly angry (we can't see it from this angle, but Richard certainly can and I believe that it is the case here), he continues his mischief for another while.

Now, I've watched this moment several times and couldn't believe it actually happened. At the beginning I thought Richard was messing with Paul's guitar head. I mean, are they even serious?! A nose tickling session?! Bloody hell! I can't with these two!! Is there anybody who can?!

Okay, another angle. And what do we have next, an annoyed Paul being like "Richard, what the hell"? Nope, of course not. We see Richard grabbing the back of the neck of a broadly smiling Paul, allowing all this like "sure this idiot right here is the biggest dork you'll ever see, but how can I get annoyed at somebody I love..." He prepares for the kiss, his chin lifted, his lips plumped, his eyes closed, and...

And the last angle... It always gets me and makes me truly, truly weak... I've seen many kisses, experienced and keep experiencing quite a few myself, but never have I seen anybody that entirely cheerful and smiling into a kiss as Richard is here. I'm suprised he was even able to kiss Paul with his lips so widely stretched into a grin. The pure joy, happiness and love for the slightly shorter man simply beams from his face with an otherwordly intensity. And when the kiss, by far not as brief as in the earlier shows, is finally ended, he looks at Paul with his eyes confessing the overwhelming feelings yet again.

Clearly deciding all what has happened in this very moment between the guitarists is fairly enough and satisfying for now, Richard lets his beloved bandmate go, probably remembering Paul's favorite places for such intimate interactions are behind the drumkit, under the B-stage, anyway, definitely not in the spotlight. The guitarists part their ways, go back to their reality, already thinking about Du Riechst So Gut intro, and it's only us, the fans, left, who need to come to terms with the fact we've just seen something we may likely never experience ourselves...

I guess it says something about me, though I'm not sure what exactly, that this is imo the best the lifad era slicked-down hair had ever looked. like, I'm usually not fond of that style like most of us, but I actually like this particular iteration of it. it's slightly less gelled and a bit messy, and honestly, that gives it character.

2023 Europe Stadium Tour Photos 3: Oliver Riedel

More of my photos from the 2023 Europe Stadium Tour. It is not a secret that Oliver Riedel is my favourite Rammstein member, but it was really challenging to photograph him this tour. His initial outfit had his entire face covered by the visor, and when he took it off, my camera didn't want to focus on his face because of his dark make-up. I have so many bad, unfocused shots of him, but fortunately, some turned out okay.

L: 20.05.2023 LIFAD Rehearsal. I may or may not have screamed when Oliver Riedel first walked onto the stage wearing his new costume. It was surreal. R: 22.05.2023 Vilnius. I failed getting a proper shot of his new outfit during the rehearsal, but managed to get a good one during the first regular show.

I KNOW I’M LATE. I KNOW. DON’T REMIND ME

Yesterday was LIFAD’s fifteenth birthday, and seeing as it’s one of those albums that I love with a burning passion, the 16th of October has been turned into a national holiday in my household (in case you didn’t notice me going feral on my side blog).

I remember not really liking this album in the beginning (I thought it was rather boring), until I decided to give it a second chance some time later and just. Let me tell you.

I love the concept, the execution, the photoshoot, the variety of interpretations certain songs have, the era in general, and the guitar on this album is (in my humble opinion) some of the best in all of the Rammstein discography. I could spend HOURS talking about this album and not get bored in any way. I might be ill.

With that being said, I decided to dust off an old project of mine. I wanted to make a tiny illustration for every song on the album, but I got to Roter Sand and I lost my spark so here we are. I’d love to pick it up again but I’m out of Ideas so yeah

LIFAD Forum is closing down...

And not just temporarily it seems:/ (English below)

Liebe LIFAD Mitglieder, wir schreiben euch heute, um euch mitzuteilen, dass wir das Lifad Forum zum 29.02.2024 schließen werden. Uns ist bewusst, dass das Forum über viele Jahr(zehnt)e und bevor es soziale Medien gab, eine sehr beliebte Möglichkeit war, sich mit Rammstein-Fans aus der ganzen Welt auszutauschen. Für viele Lifad Mitglieder war das Forum manchmal ein zweites Wohnzimmer. Wir haben uns diese Entscheidung nicht leicht gemacht, aber zum einen arbeitet das Forum mit einem mittlerweile sehr veralteten System, das mit neuen Programmen nicht mehr kompatibel ist und erhält somit keine Programmunterstützung mehr - zum anderen wird das Forum inzwischen bei Weitem auch nicht mehr so intensiv genutzt wie vor vielen Jahren. LIFAD turns 15 years old today 💿🎶

On this day, the 16th of October 2009, the album 'Liebe ist für alle da' was released. The work for this album started the year prior, as the preproduction for the album took place from February to October 2008. The focus of the band in the beginning period of the production lay on learning how to work together again, playing songs together and gather ideas. In Hermannshagen, over the course of about one month, the band came up with up to 90 recordings of little snippets (like choruses and riffs), which they recorded for later.

After this brainstorming period, the band moved to the Beesenstedt castle in Sachsen-Anhalt to rehearse. The process apparently was less than easy due to tension in the band. The individual members seemingly first had to reconnect with each other, since the last production had been some time ago. Richard described the process of working on the album as difficult at times: "Everyone was involved and interested in everything, which meant the decision-making power was practically zero because everyone wanted to go in a different direction. Six people on the boat and everyone playing captain – that's really tough."

After the work period in Germany, the band moved over to the US for recording. Drum recording took place in the Henson Studios located in Los Angeles, and the final destination were the Sonoma Studios in San Francisco. The studio they had booked there fell far short of their expectations – the band felt cramped and not as comfortable as they had hoped for a successful recording of their new album. Paul describes it as follows: "There we ended up in a studio that was in the middle of a retiree resort. We had imagined that differently, because actually the area was quite cool. There were cougars and deer running around, but we were in the middle of nowhere, and when we booked, we couldn't see the barbed wire that fenced off all the paths. We felt cramped, and on top of that, the studio wasn't exactly inviting. The owner had hung unsightly things everywhere that we had to take down first. However, after de-cluttering the rooms, we started to feel better."

In total, about 20 songs were recorded, of which 18 songs were published (15 on the special edition of the album, plus Mein Land and Vergiss uns nicht on the single for Mein Land, and Gib mir deine Augen on the single for Mein Herz brennt.)

The promotion for this album was done by advertising clips, for example an old lady enjoying "Frühling in Paris" and a bodybuilder lifting weights while listening to "Mehr".

Eugenio Recuenco was the artist behind the album aesthetic - he shoot the pictures for the booklet as well as for the cover of the album. Richard mentioned a similarity to the painter Hieronymus Bosch regarding the style and arrangment in the pictures. In the US, the cover was censored - an additional inlay paper on top of the usual cover showed the cover picture, but without the woman on the table

Less than a month after the album's release, it was placed on the German index. The reasons given for this were the song Ich tu dir weh, which was seen as glorifying violence, as well as this particular image of Richard:

Due to these reasons, from November 11, 2009, the original version could only be sold upon request to adult customers and was no longer allowed to be advertised. On the re-release of the CD following the indexing of the album, there is only a several-second pause in place of the song. On the cover, Ich tu dir weh is crossed out in red and marked with the footnote "Removed after censorship by the authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany." The letters of the song lyrics in the booklet were replaced with Xs except for brief excerpts.

After a lengthy legal dispute, the album was finally removed from the index in October 2011 and can once again be distributed with Ich tu dir weh.

Nevertheless: The album, like its predecessors, entered directly at number 1 on the German charts and stayed there for two weeks. In total, it was in the Top 100 for 83 weeks. It also held the number 1 spot for several weeks in Austria and Switzerland, and even reached the Top 20 of the album charts in the USA and the UK. In the ranking of the best-selling albums in Germany in 2009, Liebe ist für alle da ranked 7th.

Some additional facts surrounding the album:

During their tour for the album, Rammstein performed Ich tu dir weh with altered lyrics.

The album was originally supposed to be called Wiener Blut – like the Rammstein song about child abductor Josef Fritzl. However, they decided against it because there was already a Falco album with the same name.

Richard about the album title: '"Liebe ist für alle da" (Love is there for everyone) is a very Christian thought. Of course, one must ask, is love really there for everyone? I would hope that it is. Can we forgive those who have misunderstood love? I often think about that, and I fail, then make some progress, only to go back again.'

The chorus of Frühling in Paris is inspired by Edith Piaf's chanson Non, je ne regrette rien.

Four years after the album's release, Führe mich was used as a soundtrack for Lars Von Trier's controversial film Nymphomaniac.

The song Haifisch is inspired by Mack the Knife from Brecht's The Threepenny Opera.

Let's not forget that during rehearsal, both Richard and Paul were under the weather. Paul still seems a bit off. Could be having a headache or just dead tired because of it.

They're only human, after all. Cannot reciprocate every smile, gesture and movement with the same energy.

But, moments like these really show just how far they've come. Sure, they may still be night and day in their day to day activities, but emotionally, they've grown a lot. They seek comfort with each other. They've started doing that roughly during LIFAD but I'd say there was a real turning point during lockdown. And it makes sense. That time shook a lot of people's realities and priorities. They've had loses in their families during that time and recently. And I think that made them finally realise that time is very short and probably some heart to hearts were had. You can see very clearly that these interactions are not just fan service anymore.

Even though the tour just started, it's very obvious that the energy between them all is quite different compared to last year and before. As unfortunate as it was, I believe last years incident was like a good slap in the face. No doubt they've had long and very hard discussions with a clearly very positive outcome.

And don't even get me started on Till. It's like some kind of dark cloud that's dissipated over him. Even his eyes look more cheerful.

That time we were thinking that waiting for album for 4 years was terrible. If I would just know that we will have to wait for facking 10 years to get next one!

Before making this album, Rammstein had whole year pause. It is funny that according to Rammwiki (I can not find the MetalHammer article they are referring to...) the band had a problem to play together after this long time and they had to learn how to work together again. Schneider even supposed to say them to get it together or just split up. But in LIFAD making of video, Ollie is saying that they did not have any problem and everything click together perfectly. Well, the Rammwiki mention that Richard get annoyed, which I guess is just normal for them 😁

I again feel that fans do not like this album that much. But I love it! It is such an amazing album. Rammlied, Ich tu dir weh, my beloved Waidmanns Heil, Wiener Blut, Frühling in Paris, Haifisch... This album has so much amazing songs!

My favorite part of making of is Oliver's love for tree house. I would love to know how he did fit his long body to this bed, which looks too small for him. But this whole scene is amazingly calming.

And of course Paul being annoying with his camera. But we are forever grateful to him, because without him and his camera, we would not have such amazing materials.

Ok, enough about the whole album, let's talk about my favorite song. Well, I already said that my all time favorite song is Waidmanns Heil on day one of this challenge. So I will go with my second favorite one.

Wiener Blut. This song is insane just like the story behind it. I remember when I hear about Josef Fritzl and what he done to his own daughter! I could not believe it. And this song perfectly describes how fuck up his mind have to be.

This part always gets me a goosebumps! Especially in this live video, how Till do sing this part and then nothing, darkness only with green lasers. How creepy this is!

Literally i can buy the non anniversary edition of Sehnsucht for less and have the exact same thing. And you're right, they do view us as wallets.

I don't begrudge a band trying to make a profit, but at least do what retail workers do and pretend you're giving us value for the money. This just looks like lazy contempt. "LOL, we know you're sad idiots who'll buy anything, so here's a minimum-effort reissue with some photos." They could've included a voucher for a LIFAD membership, or hey, say that there will be fifty of the CDs that contain vouchers for a ticket to a gig of your choice. Just a little effort is all I'm asking.

I think evetim is just if you're a lifad member and you're going to try to get the presale tickets before tickets are available to the general public.

When i paid the €25 euro for lifad membership, they emailed me a link with a code that brought me to the evetim page where i'll buy my tickets when they go on presale.

I hope I've explained everything correctly!

I had a headache trying to figure it out.
