Emmys 2024 FYC Exclusive Interview: Taylor Mac "so much of queer culture has been erased - I wanted to make something so big it couldn't be ignored"
In 2016, Taylor Mac performed a one-time-only, 24-hour immersive theatrical experience in front of a live audience at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. The concert offered an alternative take on U.S. history, narrated through music that was popular from the nation’s founding to the present, with Mac transforming hourly by changing into elaborate, decade-specific costumes by Mac’s longtime…

LGBTQ Muslims Call for Permanent Ceasefire in Front of Stonewall
One-hundred LGBTQ Muslims gathered for a jummah prayer for Palestine in front of the Stonewall National Monument on Friday to demonstrate that there is “no pride in genocide.” “Queer Muslim New Yorkers are rising up in solidarity with Palestinians, and through a queer Muslim-led interfaith prayer, they will stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people who are facing genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the Israeli government backed by the United States,” organizers said in a statement. “Queer communities face historical discrimination, prejudice, violence, criminalization, lack of proper healthcare and/or gender affirming care, and more — and here in the U.S. queer activists have been rising up against increased LGBTQ+ attacks, yet their struggles are being exploited in a dangerous narrative war to suggest that there would be no place for queer people in Palestine,”

"According to National Coalition for the Homeless, 40% of the country’s homeless youth population is comprised of LGTBQ+ teens.
When New York native Austin Rivers took up knitting during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was this staggering figure that drove him towards action.
“I don’t have the capacity to build a shelter, the network or the connections to help in that way, but what I can do is knit,” Rivers told NBC News.
“And I know that New York City is cold, so I decided I would start knitting and create this nonprofit.”
That’s when he founded Knit the Rainbow, an organization that distributes free handmade garments to those in need.
And nearly five years after it was first created, Rivers’ knitting collective isn’t just serving the queer community in New York City.
Their nationwide network links local yarn stores and local nonprofits with over 550 volunteers from 45 states.
As of 2024, they have collected and distributed over 25,000 winter garments — including sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, and socks — throughout homeless communities in New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, and beyond.
Once clothing items are shipped to Rivers’ apartment, he works with volunteers to unpack boxes, tag and sort donations, and pack and deliver them to local shelters that provide housing to LGBTQ+ and HIV+ homeless youth.
Tumblr media
Although the organization’s impact is wider, and the piles of mail have grown higher, Rivers still has a hand in day-to-day deliveries.
“We’re going to do it whether it’s rain, or snow, or shine,” Rivers said in his NBC News interview, pulling a handcart topped with boxes.
Those clothes could be the difference between frostbite and hospitalization, especially in cities that often drop below freezing in the wintertime.
But Rivers also noted that every handmade item — knitted, crocheted, or stitched — has a dual impact, because every piece of clothing is made with love.
“A lot of the times, the reason that they’re unhoused is because they were kicked out by their families,” Rivers said.
“We’re not just providing warmth, but we’re also providing that love and that compassion that they so often don’t have.”
To the members of the community Knit The Rainbow served, he had a clear message.
“There are thousands of people out here that are constantly thinking of you and using their hands to make things for you,” Rivers emphasized. “So don’t give up. Keep going.”
To download free knitting [and crochet] patterns, donate a garment, or sign up to volunteer, you can visit the organization's website to get started."

On June 28, 1969, the #Stonewall Riots began following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, one of New York City's best-known LGBTQ clubs. Forty-seven years later, the site was declared a National Monument by Presidential Proclamation. https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75315976

Hello everyone, I was attacked unprovoked on the Subway yesterday. I believe I was targeted because I was wearing my pride shirt work uniform I am also a bisexual woman with a very public presence on the internet and in the city as I am a performer at Ellen’s Stardust Diner in Times Square. I was beaten badly and taken to hospital by ambulance. It took two phone calls to 911 and an hour wait for police to arrive, so clearly my assailant got away. The cops also victim blamed me for the attack as if sitting quietly with your AirPods on is somehow not being vigilant enough at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on a busy subway car. But what else do we expect from the NYPD at this point. I have large bruises and giant swellings on the right side of my head, and it’s caused my vision to blur, my hearing is gone because my eardrum is filled with fluid and I am dizzy and nauseas all the time. Laying down is painful because of the contusions but sitting up is miserable too. Until my visions improves, my hearing returns and my bruises and swelling fade I don’t know when I’ll be able to return to work not even considering the fear of taking the subway now. More of what happened is explained in my fundraiser I’m linking. But I could use the help of the good folks on the internet. If you could donate and share or if you can’t donate please share. My husband is the organizer and can also answer any questions you have. Please boost my signal, I really need the help right now.

can i request uconn stewie x cheerleader gf smut?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count : 493
warnings : smut, cussing, clothes on sex
summary : breanna loves her cheerleader after a good game
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the after game ritual was very simple actually, it had you where ever stewie wanted you doing what she wanted to you.
this night you where straddled on breanna’s lap with you cheer uniform still on you as she teased you painfully slow.
“stop teasing B just fuck me already we both know where its going to end up” a big smile forms across her face as she wanted you right where you were
“thats no way to ask me for something babe, you know how that ended last time” you knew exactly where it ended last time, you endured 3 hours of teasing and edging from the competitive girl.
“please, please, please fuck me breanna, i need you so fucking bad” she slides her hands up your thighs finding there way under your cheer skirt as she worshiped that uniform, the way you screamed her name at games, the way after a game she had you bent over on her lap as she slid her fingers in and out of you.
“so pretty, don’t worry you’ll get your way soon” she coos removing your hair from your face so she can get a better view of you, as she finally flips you over onto your back sliding up the skirt removing your shorts from under as she aligns the strap up with your entrance teasingly pushing in causing a moan to escape your lips
“there you go baby” she smirks as her un needed comment was made picking on you for being needy, she continues her as you hear her headboard hit the wall repeatedly pissing off the neighbors around your dorm.
“so wet, all for me mama?” she coos as she sees your liquids begin to spill “yes bre all for you” you praise at her ability to hit your g spot so many times in a row knowing your body like the back of her hand.
“looked so good cheering for me tonight” breanna loved when she would look over to you after scoring a bucket, how you were always there cheering her on.
“mhm, did so good B” she places a kiss right under your ear that send shivers down your spine. “oh fuck- breanna im gonna cum” she hums in response, kisses your lips speeding up her pace
“go on baby, want you to cum right on my cock” she coos as your liquids where now spilling all over the silicone strap that never slowed down once, also spilling on breanna’s thighs as she moans at the warm feeling.
she helps you ride out your high as she removes the strap making you whimper at the empty feeling, she places a kiss on your forehead as she grabs a wet wipe from her side table cleaning you two up and throwing it away as she lays on your stomach when not long after her snores begin to surround the room as you place meaningful kisses on her head

Gladys Bentley at the Ubangi Club in Harlem, early 1930s.
Gladys Bentley (1907-1960) joined the Harlem Renaissance jazz scene at age 16 and became an instant sensation and gender identity pioneer. She performed piano and vocals at the most popular gay bars, wearing men’s clothing, and openly flirted with women in the audience. She headlined in the early 1930s at Harlem's Ubangi Club, where she was backed up by a chorus line of drag queens. She dressed in men's clothes (including her signature: tuxedo and top hat), played piano, and sang her own raunchy lyrics to popular tunes of the day in a deep, growling voice.

As our conversation ended, I asked both men where they’d like their characters to be in 20 years. “The hope would certainly be that they’re still together,” Connor said softly, looking at Locke as if to get approval. “I think they would be,” Locke replied, glancing back. “They’re meant for each other,” Connor said. “They’d have some children, a family,” Locke said. “Happy would be nice,” Connor said. “Yeah,” Locke said, again with that grin. “Just happy.” KIT CONNOR & JOE LOCKE - The New York Times | July 2023
