How to Choose the Right LED Trailer Tail Lights
LED trailer tail lights are critical to towing a trailer and affect the safety of that trailer. Whether you tow during nighttime or in adverse weather conditions, proper lighting guarantees that you are visible to other drivers. Here is a brief manual to assist you in selecting the top choices.
Tumblr media
1. Brightness and Visibility
LED lights are more luminous than traditional bulbs, which is precisely what is necessary for a trailer. Search for high-intensity LEDs that emit a strong enough light to stand out, even in adverse weather conditions like heavy rain or fog. By doing this, you’ll remain highly visible regardless of the circumstances.
2. Durability
LED trailer tail lights need to be able to withstand harsh weather and need to have an IP67 waterproof rating to resist rain and snow. LED lights are already more long-lasting than standard bulbs, but ensure they’re also impact-resistant to endure rough journeys and road tremors.
3. Easy Installation
Drilling holes and handling intricate wire are tasks that no one wants to do. Choose plug-and-play solutions that include basic wiring and mounting brackets. In this manner, you may quickly install them without hiring a professional.
4. Size and Fit
Make sure the lighting are appropriate for your trailer. LED tail lights come in a variety of forms, including rectangular, round, and oval, so choose the model that best matches your trailer. Also, if you’re changing old lights, be sure the new ones will fit in the current mounting positions.
5. Legal Compliance
Ensure that the lights fulfill your local safety regulations, such as SAE or DOT certifications. This assures that your lights are up to code and that you will not face legal consequences.
6. Price and Warranty
High-quality products are normally more expensive, but they are well worth it. Choose a reputable brand, and make sure the lights come with a guarantee in case anything goes wrong.

Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Troupe - Blonde Squad
idk how the hell to format this but here i go.
Tumblr media
The poll has spoken. i post the sillies on tumbl.
Summary: i give the troupe motorcycles. suffer.
I bullshit a lot and this takes place during a random troupe related mission. the ending is meh. look at the pretty bikes instead ooh yeah ooh
Shalnark & Phinks & Pakunoda, A little touch of Chrollo too.
2.2k words <- yeah i have no idea how that happened
Art Behind the Scenes: https://www.tumblr.com/monosanimegenericzone/763741984903086080/whee-art-progression?source=share
CW: shooty bang. a little murder. this is hxh tho so idk what you were expecting
cw2: very meh ending. this is your final warning.
“Your target is the green truck heading east. Don’t let it get on the freeway,” Chrollo’s voice crackled as Shalnark ran. Shalnark grinned, “Got it! We’ll take care of it!”
“I’ve got rides,” Phinks shouted as Shalnark took his phone away from his ear, “Right around this corner!”
They rounded the bend and Shalnark gasped aloud. Waiting for them were three identical bikes, shiny and- they looked new!
“Courtesy of Kortopi,” Phinks grinned, slapping Shalnark on the back, “Paku you know how to-”
“Yes, I know how to ride,” She gave him a look and came up to the second bike, “Make sure Shal doesn’t start crying. He looks like he might.”
“He’s fine,” Phinks snorted and sat down on the first, “Just happy I finally let him have his own.”
“Phinks this is so sweet!” Shalnark wiped a fake tear from his eye, “I could kiss you!”
“Ew, save it for later,” Phinks started the ignition and revved the engine, “Let’s get going!”
Without waiting, he tore across the sidewalk and streaked into the busy street. Paku smiled softly and quickly followed with screeching tires. Shalnark eagerly brought up the rear, stuffing his hair into a hair tie and then taking off.
The road was suddenly very unsafe. Phinks led the pack, head down and scanning. He swerved to avoid a crowd of cars and checked the side streets. Anyone in his way would have to dodge him, he wasn’t stopping. He saw a flash of green through the buildings and abruptly swerved at the next intersection.
Cars honked angrily and someone slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting him. Pakunoda and Shalnark zipped after him, narrowly dodging another car. The vehicles smashed together behind them. With a fresh fire burning on their tail, Shalnark picked up speed.
Another turn and they all locked onto the target.
They were chasing an armored vehicle, labeled with a bright sailing ship on the back. With the way it was weaving through cars, it was definitely their mark. A street with three lanes was too small, but the truck was barrelling right through the cars that refused to get out of the way.
Pakunoda sighed irritably. She swerved around a crushed car and inched closer to the truck. She couldn’t shoot and drive without compromising valuable reaction time. With the speeds they were going, she couldn’t afford even a second of distraction.
The truck ran two red lights. Horns blared and a car halted just shy of hitting it. Paku veered around it, closing in on the cab. As she got closer, she realized the windows on the driver’s side were reinforced. They were heavily tinted, but with the passing street lights, she could see the moving heads of three guys in the front. Her pistol wouldn’t be able to take out all three of them. Not in one shot.
She spared a glance in her rearview mirror.
Phinks leapt over a moving car and hit the ground right next to her, “You got a plan?”
“No. The windows are too thick for me to shoot through and they’re moving too fast to get a reliable hit.”
“What about the trailer?”
“It’s a single truck, not a trailer. Unless we can stop it in its tracks, we can’t get to the container.”
Shalnark had fallen behind. He saw the two racing side by side just behind the truck and scowled. Oh it was a race now was it?? Shalnark hopped the curb and gunned down the clear path. Pedestrians screamed, diving out of the way as he ripped down the sidewalk.
He reached the same conclusion as Pakunoda: the truck was impenetrable, they’d have to find some way to stop it. Phinks wouldn’t have time to charge up nearly enough to stop something that fast and heavy.
Heck, even Uvo wouldn’t be able to stop it.
They’d have to get the vehicle to crash. All three of them realized this at the same time.
The door on the back suddenly swung open. Paku gasped and immediately braked. She swung around the car behind her as a masked man stuck his head out and aimed a rifle at Phinks.
Phinks swore and quickly shot forward as the man opened fire. Bullets sparked on the street and a random car’s tire burst. Rubber squealed and even Shalnark had to dodge the car that came careening off of the road.
They were nearing the highway. A bridge appeared in the distance and the truck was barrelling right for it.
Phinks was right next to it. He was out of range of the gunman but he was running out of time. He could go for the tires or try to knock the truck off course. With just a base punch he could make it shift just enough to get it into the shoulder. But that was too risky-
Something crashed behind him and he turned to look. A truck behind them had smashed head on with another car going the opposite direction. Its bed snapped in half, creating a perfect ramp.
Phinks’ eyes widened as he saw Pakunoda going straight for it. No way.
She hit the ramp and leapt an easy twenty feet in the air. The truck collapsed and erupted in flames as she let go of the handlebars. Mid-air, Pakunoda leapt off of her bike, dropping in a perfectly calculated arc. She dropped, heel first towards the window and slipped her handgun from her waist.
She grabbed onto the roof of the truck and swung in through the open door. The soldier shouted in alarm as she smashed her heel into his jaw.
There were three others riding with the payload. Paku ducked down behind the still-falling body and lifted her weapon. One bullet through the torso, then the skull. One bullet through the leg, then the throat. She fired twice and all three soldiers dropped dead.
Overhead, the bike hit the bridge and exploded into a plume of orange flame. Phinks whistled appreciatively, and Shalnark pulled up close behind. The truck missed the entrance onto the freeway. They could keep it in the city.
Pakunoda inspected the far wall. No doorway to speak of and a titanium wall too thick for even the highest caliber weapon they had in storage. A bazooka would probably make a dent, but not enough. She selected a single shot rifle, heavy in hand but she could make it work. She headed to the back of the truck, waving down one of the boys. Shalnark got closer and sat up on his bike, “There’s no door??”
“It’s an isolated cab,” She hung with one arm out of the side, “I can work with a window though.”
“Got it!” He let go and held out a hand for her. She slung her new weapon over her shoulder and grasped his hand. With a single leap, she let go of the door handle and into his arms.
The bike swerved a bit but he brought it under control as she seated herself on the back of the bike. Shalnark sped up as the truck made a wild right turn to try and block them off. Phinks balked and rode next to them, “That was fucking crazy!”
“It worked!” Shalnark laughed, “I’m going to get Paku a shot. Think you can stop it?”
“We’re running out of things for it to run into, but yeah, I got it,” Phinks grinned, “Right or left?”
“We’ll take left! Don’t get crushed!” Shalnark jeered and leaned away.
Together, they flanked the truck, Shalnark and Paku on the left, Phinks on the right. The driver saw Phinks first and veered to the right, trying to crush him on the street barrier. He balked, cutting the gas and slowing down just enough to dodge. The truck scraped hard against the railing, throwing sparks across the road.
Luckily or unluckily, the truck had chosen a backroad with no other cars. Shalnark veered into the opposite lane, slowly creeping up to the window until they were neck and neck. He saw the shadow of the driver’s head turn and heard some muffled shouting inside. But it was far too late.
Paku raised her rifle, humming with a hostile, yet beautifully violet, aura. The driver had milliseconds to react. She tilted her head to the side and lovingly placed a finger on the trigger, “Goodnight.”
The barrel cracked and the window shattered. Bulletproof or reinforced. It could do nothing against a .4 shrouded in a gun woman's nen. The bullet pierced the thick glass and all three heads in a neat row. The opposite window splintered, decorated with a fresh splatter of blood and brains.
It did the trick. Pakunoda ejected the empty shell and Shalnark pulled back. The truck listed to the left, dragged by the dead man’s limp corpse. Phinks pulled up next to it, arm reared back. He managed to get two charges, and he could only hope it was enough. He twisted over the front of his bike and slammed a glowing fist into its side.
Steel groaned and its tires screeched in pain. The truck lurched to the side, careening off the road and straight for a run down storefront. Phinks skidded to a stop, spinning on his front tire to watch the truck smash head first into the brick and mortar. It was kind of underwhelming to be honest. The glass snapped like it was made of plastic and the crumbling walls were just depressing as they caved in. Shalnark pulled up next to him, whistling through his teeth.
The truck came to a dead stop, covered in debris and broken glass. Pakunoda brushed her hair out of her face, “Mission complete.”
“Damn right,” Phinks cut the engine on his bike and flicked the kickstand down, “Alright, let’s grab the stuff and get back to base.”
“I call dibs on not driving it back,” Shalnark shut his bike off as well.
The payload was unharmed and surprisingly light. Phinks ripped the steel cage off of it and wrestled the crate out of the back of the truck. After some argument and Pakunoda threatening to shoot one or both of them, they decided to flip a coin to determine who would be in charge of transporting it.
Shalnark lost. Pakunoda rode with Phinks.
They rode in silence, at a moderate pace.
Phinks glanced at Pakunoda over his shoulder. She was still carrying that gun from earlier. She met his eye and leaned back a bit, “What.”
“You’re keeping that?”
She hummed and unslung one arm from around his waist, “Yes, it’s a nice piece. Might be useful for the rest of the week.”
“Thought you were a pistol only kinda person,” Phinks shrugged.
“I prefer pistols. But, in events like today I might want some heavier firepower.”
“That’s what Franklin’s for.”
“True. He’s not here though is he?”
Phinks paused, “. . . yeah. You’ve got a point.”
From there on, the ride concluded in silence. They drove out into the rundown city, surrounded by darkness and broken buildings. Somewhere in the throng of urban wasteland was a large building. Probably a shopping center of some kind, rotting away from the inside.
The two bikes pulled into the gaping maw that used to be its front doors and rumbled to a stop. Phinks shouldered the box and they approached the others. Shalnark called out into the darkness, “Danchou! Target eliminated! And the payload has been safely rescued!”
Moonlight provided merely a thin veil of light. Candles made up the rest. Seated atop the collapsed remains of the roof, Chrollo lifted his head, “Nice job. Saved us a day of searching.”
Phinks dumped the box in the middle of the room, “So, what’s in this thing?”
“Open it,” Chrollo stood up and picked his way down the landslide. Phinks obeyed and pried the lid off. Shalnark gasped, headbutting Phinks away as he gawked, “That’s so much money!”
“Roughly 50 million,” Chrollo stopped at the edge of the crate, “Assuming it’s filled end to end.”
“Feels light for 50 million,” Phinks elbowed Shalnark in the face and folded his arms. Shalnark squawked, rubbing his nose. Pakunoda stepped forward, “It could have something else hidden inside. Another safe maybe?”
“Let’s see,” Chrollo reached in and began shifting the stacks of bills aside.
Some many minutes of digging later and they discovered a plastic cube buried five layers deep. Phinks grunted, “Huh. Would you look at that?”
Chrollo gingerly lifted it out of the pile, “And this is what we were looking for.”
“Is it the guy’s will?” Shalnark asked, dumping his armful of money back into the crate. Chrollo turned the cube around a few times and then nodded, “It is.”
He looked at the three of them, “Good work. We have fourteen more to go.”
“Nice!” Shalnark grinned, beaming from ear to ear. Chrollo returned the gesture, though his smile was faint, “I’ll let you know if the other teams need help. Ideally, they won’t let any getaway vehicles slip through like this one.”
“What about the money?” Pakunoda spoke up, folding her arms gently. Chrollo made no comment on her new toy and instead paused to consider her question, “. . . keep it. We’ll spend it where we please.”
“Rodger,” Paku nodded.
“. . . so, drinks?”
// jazz hands.
// hope you like
// i have panels storyboarded but this took me a week (motivation ass) so. who knows if or when i will ever have those finished.

Why the fuck are there roller skates, dubstep, stage lighting, an LED screen, and all kinds of modern technology in Xilonen's trailer??? I thought Fontaine had the most advanced technology next to Schneznaya and arguably Sumeru, and every instance of high-end technology we have seen leaned more towards machinations with gears, magic, alchemy, essentially fantasy styled sci-fi???
The disrespect towards Native American and African cultures is enough to piss me off already, but it even goes against Genshin's own consistency with its fantastical world design..and for what? Just so you can have this...pop and gamer aesthetic???
Just look at these two bubbly and optimistic characters for me okay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yoimiya's design isn't the most respectful and accurate representation of a Japanese firework craftsman, but at least you can damn tell she is Japanese. The large ribbons, hair accessories, tassels, leg covering, tattoo design, shoe style, and fabric patterns all allude to this (I apologize for not knowing the exact terminologies for these, this needs further research).
Then there's Mualani who has...what? Please do correct me if I am wrong here, but her character must be inspired by the real Mualani, a Hawaiian Chiefess. Additionally, her tribe's specialty is in tourism and vacationing, which further leads into the idea that she and her tribe are based off of Hawaii despite the known issues regarding Hawaii and tourism (if there are any good sources that summarize the issue, please do lmk).
I am not too familiar with Hawaiian culture, but there really is nothing about her design that reads as Hawaiian, or even just traditional, to me. What about a 2 piece swimsuit with bows and tails, a bow + braids + ponytail hair style, combat gloves (?), and an entire neon shark, is Hawaiian???
The characters, their designs, and their trailers, are just so culturally disconnected from their real life counterpart that it's even disconnected to Genshin's own world building and design. How the fuck is the fashion trend in Natlan denim pants. I feel like the only parts of Natlan that feel like Genshin Impact and culturally inspired are the in-game music and landscapes (God bless Hoyo-mix and the world designers).

How did the sleepover go? (Other than the dead battery of course)
Because I do try to write about times im getting fucked, using this as an appropriate to try to include what all I can remember.
It was a lot of fun. I went over to his place. After just a little bit of saying hello and stuff, went straight into getting fucked for the first time of the night. He fucked me from behind while I was bent over the bed. I was trying to not have my face on the bed a lot bc we were gonna go get food after and didn’t want to mess up my makeup, which was silly of me. He smacked me ass a lot, and pushed my face into the bed some. I sucked his cock some next, again I was like trying to not be too messy about it to not mess up my makeup too bad and even said something, but at some point he held me down on his cock some and I was gagging a bunch. I think that’s when I gave up on my makeup. He then fucked me on my back, had my feet over his shoulders some first I think, and then liked varied. Had a bit of choking and getting slapped, and some very hot dirty talk around needing him to fill me w cum, I think he like called me a slut some and saying stuff about being his to use and so on. And def got filled w his cum. I really like that it’s like pretty common for me to cum the same time the guy is fucking me does. I def think it feels way good being filled with cum.
I cleaned up some and fixed my makeup, and sipped on a martini a little while chatting a little before we went out to pick up some Greek food. Tho I got a shawarma wrap instead of like a gyro, I don’t think shawarma is Greek. Idk. It was yum. I haven’t had mediterrean or middle eastern food it far too long for how much I like it. We went back to his place to eat and put on the movie nefarious, I wouldn’t say it was a good movie, but it was a fun one to talk during and like be kinda annoyed w lol. After the movie I got changed into this cute floral mesh set, that was like somewhere between lingerie and pajamas, little shorts and top that was held together by a little hook between my tits. And then we did kinda just browse movies and watch some trailers. My top managed to come undone a couple times…which led nicely into getting fucked again.
I don’t super remember the start of things but I know I was on top early on, and then at some points more like on my side and back. More light choking and some slapping and had a pillow over my face some and I think he had my hands pinned down some, but like most hot of all, there was some breeding talk. God that like always gets me, like when it first comes up I feel like my brain always is like short circuiting, and def much more so while getting fucked so well. So off course got filled w cum again. And then went to sleep.
And then was very fun to start the day getting fucked again. I feel like I don’t remember as much from this time. I remember he started w just teasing me some and when fingering me he said something about how wet I was. And more being cummed in too.
Shortly after I’m getting ready to head home and then find out my car door was open the hole time and that my battery was dead. Def felt soo dumb about that. Neither of us had cables (he’s in the tail end of moving and they weren’t here) or really new how (but like he was like saying he’d be able to look it up and stuff, but no cables). So I had to call my dad to come rescue me. My mom also then called me and I heard that she was like mad I didn’t call her instead of my dad which was like why? Did make things more annoying. But like overall def was all a really fun time.
Wow this took like forever to write lol.

Cbs ghosts prediction (and therefore I guess potential spoilers??) under the cut
Okay so my wild theory for who killed Alberta is that it was (at least partly!) Thomas Woodstone.
Like we know some long-held secret of Hetty’s is gonna come to light in the next few episodes, we know we’re gonna find out who killed Alberta, in the trailer released for the tail end of the season we even get a glimpse of Hetty as a ghost in the midst of a big event that, based on the 20s-era costumes, is likely the night of Alberta’s murder. Hetty has adamantly said Alberta wasn’t murdered but just died of a heart attack on multiple occasions, suggesting she has a vested interest in the truth remaining hidden. The writers have also followed a trend of putting Hetty B-plots with Alberta A-plots (Alberta’s Fan, The Podcast, Alberta’s Descendant) which means that when big clues are revealed related to the murder, Hetty is almost never present (with the notable exception of the letter discovery), meaning we don’t get to see if she reacts to new reveals in a way that would suggest she already knew the information—for the most part she's kept fairly separate from the murder investigation. If Hetty knew who the killer was, why would she hide it for a hundred years…unless it was one of her own descendants who did it or was in some way involved.
Thomas is the only immediate relative of Hetty’s that we’ve seen; also, there’s the fact that his name starts with ‘T’ (I know, so does Alberta’s sister’s name, Theresa—but the show seems to be setting her up as a red herring way more than the actual killer imo). I’ll be honest, I don’t exactly know how to do the math on this one when we have no idea of the year for the flashback he’s in, and we also don’t know how old he was when Hetty died (or even exactly what year she died). But if he was still a child when Hetty died, as she implies in The Family Business, and we assume she died in the 80s or 90s, then he could reasonably be in his 40s-50s and the current owner of Woodstone mansion the night of Alberta’s murder. This would also put a whole new dimension on Hetty’s statement that she watched “generations of Woodstones make mistakes in this house”, and to the flashback we see of Thomas where he struggles with uncertainty over whether a particular girl is “the one”.
In less concrete evidence (as though any of this is “concrete” lol)—cbs ghosts continues to use the occasional bbc ghosts plot point; Hetty is based off Fanny, and I think this could be their spin on Fanny discovering her husband having an affair with a man, a discover that led to her husband killing her. In this version, Hetty’s son is in a secret relationship with Earl, and it’s Alberta who gets killed, with Hetty the only one who knows the truth.
We also know that the reveal of this secret will test one of Hetty’s “most enduring friendships”; depending on Hetty’s reason for keeping the secret, this theory could mean the friendship tested is either Alberta (because Hetty hid the truth about her murder for so long) OR Isaac (if she kept it secret because she wanted to hide her son’s involvement with another man). The phrasing of “most enduring friendships” makes me feel it’s slightly more likely to be Isaac, especially considering they were officially deemed besties in A Date to Remember.
I could be way, WAY off base, of course…admittedly, this theory doesn’t really account for the fact that Earl does go on to date Theresa, nor does it explain Hetty’s seemingly enthusiastic reaction to the discovery of the letter in The Liquor License. Still, my money’s on Thomas having something to do with the murder, and that being what Hetty has kept secret for so long.

The Call - Prep and send off
First thing was first: Thorn needed to be ready for whatever they would come across. They silently opened their trailer and slipped inside. With the lights on, they began to strap themselves up. A few guns, a bulletproof vest for armor, a backpack for storage, a knife for stabbing, and some night vision goggles to assist them.
The hand radio crackled to life, beeping out a message in morse code, ".…. . .- -.. / - --- / .-. ..- .. -. …". A quick translation had confirmed in Thorn's mind where they were going to head next, the ruins. As they pocketed the hand radio, a question about who could have sent the message danced in their mind. After all, the only people who could possibly have access to the radio were other insurgents. This gave Thorn a sliver of hope, perhaps they could be saved?
Upon exiting from their trailer, they made a beeline to the peace duo's trailer and politely knocked on it. After some shuffling the door opened to reveal the friendly stoner Marvin.
"Sup dude? Welcome into the safest place right here for now" Marvin spoke as he helped Thorn in. The "Groove Palace" as Dallas once called it was an average, yet cluttered trailer full of knickknacks and other traditional hippie objects, including peace signs, lava lamps, and fabrics containing rich tie-dye jobs.
"Right now? What do you mean right now?" Thorn asked.
"Well, Dallas got bit and he's starting to transform into a werewolf," Marvin replied nonchalantly.
Thorn turned his head to the other side of trailer as he heard the sound of scraping metal. Dallas had been in a thin tie-dye shirt and shorts, mentioning that he was going to play his hand pan in the river, "for the acoustics". Now Dallas' shirt was clinging for dear life, as his newfound muscularture threatened to rip it off. He gnashed his teeth as the pain was unbearable, his face shifting to a snout which barely supported his red glasses. He grew taller and brawnier as his bones cracked and shifted and grew to support the new muscle being added. His hair shifted to fur as it sprouted all over his body, covering him in a dense, brown coat. His eyes opened to show a primal hunger, a growl rumbling through his throat as his ears perked at Thorn's breathing.
Thorn, slowly reached for his gun before Marvin stopped him and walked in front of him. He took a deep drag on his 420-j blunt and blew the smoke out in Dallas' face, causing the new werewolf to hack and cough.
"Was that necessary, man?"
The werewolf grumbled as he waved the smoke away. He blinked a few times before making an observation.
"Boy, Thorn, you shrunk!"
He laughed a deep laugh, giving a closed-eye smile. His tail wagging happily; His peace sign medallion ended up on his tail, probably when he was flailing around. This led Thorn's eyes to Dallas' leg, noticing that even transformed, a scar remained. Perhaps that might be useful knowledge for the future?
"Figured that'd calm you down. Werewolf biology is quite interesting." Marvin hummed before turning to Thorn. "I've got the big puppy safe. If need be I'll be a friendly cat for you. I'd advise you make your way to the ruins. I spied on your conversation with Sable earlier."
After a few more exchanges of words, the duo sent Thorn off, with the werewolf giving his trademark peace sign with his large claws. As Thorn turned to head to the meadow, a whine prevented them from committing just yet. They turned to see Rockette whining, having been leashed to the outside of the trailer. Thorn jogged to her and began untying her.
"Maybe you can find Gordon, so I can sock him for causing all this shit." Thorn huffed as they undid the leash. Rockette got on her hind legs to lick Thorn in the face before bounding off.
After checking the area again, they began heading their way to the Ruins. Along their way, they entered the Meadows. Thorn grimaced as they saw the ruins of a picnic. They recall how Cindy was hosting one that afternoon for friendship reasons, according to her.
"help... help me..."
A voice heard off the path by Thorn. It could be another camper... or it could be a werewolf faking it to lead Thorn to their death.

Authors Note: I got really inspired, by watching the SKZ Trailer for their Oddinary Comeback a while ago and came up with this little Story. I really loved the 'Alice in Wonderland' theme,it had going on and really wanted to incorporate it. One character is actually a fusion of two members. Maybe you can find out who it was? I really love the main character and want to make this into a series. What are your thoughts on this?
~L
“Hey guys, look at this alleyway, it looks so cool! Can we go there?” I asked curiously as I stopped in front of the beginning of the narrow street. Even though it was in the middle of the afternoon, it was almost time for a good coffee, Only a minimal amount of light reached the cobbled ground. It was so narrow that no car in the world could pass through it. Not only that, but you couldn’t see where this alleyway led to because it had many curves and squiggles to itself. I found it quite intriguing but my friends didn’t seem to be that interested. “Raeca, we’ve been on our feet for hours, I don’t know about Maya, but I definitely need a break. You know what? If you really want to go and explore this street, then go. We’ll find a cafe and rest.” Lola said with a strained voice. Dang! She really didn’t have any more strength.
Even though I really didn’t want to leave my friends, I felt so curious about this little street. The longer I stared down the alleyway the more I felt a pull towards it. I just couldn’t go into a cafe without knowing what was going on in that street. “Sorry but it’s just so tempting. Save a place for me at the cafe. I‘ll be back in no time!” I shot my best apologetic smile towards my two friends and without a second word I started walking into the mysterious alleyway. In the beginning all the houses were painted white and looked very modern but after a while of walking my surroundings started to change.
Instead of apartment blocks in plain white, little huts made out of wood lined the street. The sun was now shining directly on the ground and everything around me looked just so cozy and comfortable. And finally after a good 15 minutes of walking, I saw the end of the alley. This alley was indeed a dead end! But there was not a wall or anything at the end,no. At the end of the street stood a little wooden shopping hut. It was a bit lopsided and looked very old and not that well taken care of, but I had to admit that it had its own charme. As I got nearer to the cute little hut, I could see an old lady through the windows, which had definitely not been cleaned in a long time. She was sitting behind the counter, knitting a hat out of white yarn and smiling to herself. She looked like she was at peace and very satisfied with what she was doing at the moment.
I just had to go in there and find out what the hut looked like from inside.
As I pushed the door open, the little golden bell rang above my head and the old lady looked up from her knitting project. “Oh hello my dear. What a wonderful thing, that you came to visit our little shop today. We unfortunately don’t have many customers, you know?” The old lady smiled at me, then she continued. “Please have a look around and take your time. I hope you will find something you like!” “I will, thank you very much!”I answered. I gave her a smile back and started browsing through the shelves.
This tiny store had a little bit of everything, from cute home decorations made out of wood, to old china that looked like it was made in the 17th century. But what caught my attention were the doll-like figures in the centre of the room, presented on a mahogany table. There were eight in total. The figures looked like normal boys, but each of them had a detail of an animal to them. May it be ears, tail or paws, every single one had something special to them.
As I was inspecting the little figures I caught sight of myself in the mirror and was shocked to see myself in this kind of state. My hair was disheveled from walking all day and my mascara started to form panda eyes. I could not continue to look like that. “Excuse me miss” I spoke to the old lady who had started to knit again “could I use your bathroom by any chance?”. I hoped there was one in this old building. “Of course my love, the bathroom is just around that corner.” She looked up and pointed towards a hallway that was located straight across the entrance door. I thanked her and walked into the dimly lit hallway. The hallway wasn’t decorated at all, just the little lamp hanging from the ceiling and two doors. The left one was located a bit farther away from me than the right one. ‘Well I guess the right one it is’, I thought to myself and opened the door but what I saw was most definitely not a bathroom. The floor of the room was completely gone and was replaced with absolute darkness, almost like a black hole. In the air of the room though, everything was floating. Tables, chairs, clocks, lamps and paintings were floating around like gravity wasn’t a thing anymore.
I immediately closed the door with a thump and just stood there in complete shock. My brain could not wrap itself around the image that I just saw. I wanted to take another look but I was too scared to reopen the door, so I just decided to peek through the keyhole. What a bad decision. When I looked through the hole I was not met with this weird room but with an eye that did not look like mine. This round eye had such a dark color that you could hardly differentiate between iris and pupil. Because of shock I automatically stumbled back from the door and hit my back on the wall.
With a terrified expression I saw the door being opened by the human that was behind that door. When the door was fully opened, I could see this man just floating above the blackness where the floor was supposed to be. He looked the same age as me but he was a few centimeters taller. The oddest thing about him though was his face. Not that it was ugly, no, but this smile that was etched on him was full of haziness, almost a crazy smile. The other thing was his eyes. Even though I had already seen one of them, the other was totally different. It was an icy blue that was almost white. The only thing being the same was the round eye shape.
With a strange sparkle in his eyes he began to speak “Hello m’lady. Did your parents never teach you to knock first, before opening a door?” He giggled mischievously. “I-I thought this was the b-b-bathroom, I’m so sorry!” I stuttered, my back still pressed against the wall. My eyes flickered from his face to his feet, still shocked that he could just float above a black hole like it was normal. Well it was probably normal, for him at least. He most likely noticed my flickering eyes, because in the next second he reached out to me, grabbed both of my wrists and pulled me into the room. Not knowing how to react I just shut my eyes and let out a long, high pitched scream, fearing that I will now fall into the darkness and never see the surface of the earth again. But the sensation of falling didn’t occur. Instead the man, who was still holding my wrists, burst out in a fit of laughter. “Hahahaha. You should’ve seen your face when I pulled you in the room, it was so incredibly funny!”.
To check if I was still okay, I opened my eyes very slowly. I held my breath when I realised I was now floating in the room as well. I did not scream, because this man would’ve probably laughed at me again. “What, cat’s got your tongue?” He said in a teasing tone. “N-nooo?... I-” “What is going on here?” I was interrupted by the old lady. “Fenix, how many times have I told you to not change the rooms when a customer enters! We already have a low customer rate and yet you decide to scare them away anyway!” The man, apparently named Fenix, started to pout. “But Mrs. Hansley it’s more fun for me this way.” “But it’s not funny for our clients in the slightest, come here my dear let me help you. I am so so sorry!” The old lady reached out her wrinkly hand to me and I gladly took hers in mine and let me be pulled to the hallway again. The landing was a bit rough as I landed on my behind but Mrs. Hansley helped me up right away.
She shot a glare in the direction of a sad looking Fenix and escorted me back to the front of the store under constant apologies from her side. I tried to soothe her worries as best as I could but that was very hard, considering me being still very shaken up from what just happened. As a final apology from her I got a brown box with a red bow on top. “Please take this with you. I hope you can forgive me and Fenix. He can be a little too mischievous at times. And please take the right door when you leave, it’s the fastest way back.”. I nodded and smiled at her and thanked her again for being such a nice woman, not wanting to bring Fenix up again.
I used the door that I was told to use and immediately stepped into the street where I last saw my friends before we parted ways. How was this possible? After a few seconds I spotted them in an outdoor cafe and speedily walked towards them. Before the walk though, I made sure to put the brown box into the backpack I was wearing. “Hey y’all, I’m so sorry that it took so long, the alleyway was longer than I expected.” I stated with an apologetic look on my face. My friends just looked at me in confusion. “What do you mean? You were only gone for a couple minutes.”

A/N: For the @mysmecircuszine! I can’t really write Rika without V, I adore them too much, so this ended up being a Rika/V/MC piece. I wish I could have gone a bit bigger with the Rika/V parts but alas, restrictions.
Rika had known before she’d started her job that it would take a lot of effort. She was the ringmaster for a circus, after all, a job on par with being a manager. There was always something to do, whether it was inspecting the equipment, checking the performances, or even just managing the finances. Even now, scant minutes before the big tent opened for the first performances of the day, she was running ragged in the prep tent, double checking that everyone was ready.
Fortunately, for the most part, her performers were on top of things. Preparing for the open act, the acrobatic Zen limbered up, stretching in his shiny leotard. Golden ribbons were woven into his braided hair, both keeping the long locks out of his way and enhancing his visual appeal. Next to him, Vanderwood gave a thumbs up as she passed, confirming he’d already checked the nets and ropes were all secure.
The secondary act of clowns were almost suited up. Her cousin Yoosung was barely recognizable underneath all of the bright, gaudy makeup. He honked a horn as she passed, his smile brighter than the sun, and something in Rika uncoiled at the sight. She waved as she continued to run down the checklist.
Jumin and his white lion, Elizabeth the Third, hadn’t arrived yet, but she had expected that. They were the third act after all, and Rika found that Elizabeth tended to get antsy if she waited in the tent. Saeran and Saeyoung were operating the light and sound effects from up in the booth. V—
A woman stepped into the tent, scattering Rika’s thoughts instantly. She was a new performer, Rika remembered dimly. They had met before. For the life of her, though, she couldn’t remember. She couldn’t even remember her name. And she couldn’t stop staring at the stranger as she led her horse in.
To be fair, there was a lot to take in. The platinum silver steed had flowers braided into its tail and mane, bright daffodils and lilies that contrasted brightly against its pale colouring. Its harness and saddle had a plant motif, the equipment looking like it had been formed with vines. Yet, even more stunning was the woman. Dressed in a smart pink suit with black dress pants, she looked like a handsome fairy sprung to life. Even her coattails looked like flower petals, and a red rose was pinned to her short brown hair.
The only thing out of place was how nervous she looked. Her light brown hands fidgeted with the harness, adjusting and readjusting as she waited her turn.
Rika should say something. She should do something.
Noticing her stare, the woman brightened and waved.
Finally remembering how to move, Rika waved back and forced herself back to work.
-x-
“You mean MC, the new horse rider?” Jihyun chuckled as he fiddled with his camera, playing with the settings as he looked through today’s pictures. “You’ve seen her practice before.”
Rika moved her chair closer to him. Her trailer was small, just barely big enough to fit both a bedroom and a business room. At this point, though, the management side of things had taken over most of the surfaces, with binders upon binders of research, budgets, and other minutia claiming any open area. It was easier to just meet Jihyun here after each day’s work as they discussed their future promotional material. Most of the information they needed was in the trailer after all.
And, at this point, enough of his things were mixed up with hers that they might as well be sharing both trailers anyways.
“I know. I must have approved her act too.” Their shoulders bumped as she leaned forward, examining the picture he’d stopped at. In it, Jumin rubbed Elizabeth’s head, the pampered lion leaning into his touch with a content expression. “That’s a good one for the new posters.”
“I thought so too.” Jihyun smiled, pleased. “It’s a good shot.”
“All your shots are good.” Rika squeezed his hand affectionately. If he hadn’t offered to take care of the advertising logistics, she was certain he’d be a world-class photographer. One day, he’d go back to his real position, though she wasn’t sure what she’d do when he did. She could barely manage as it was with him taking part of the workload. “I don’t think I saw her in costume before. Or maybe she wore something different? I don’t know, she just…she just looked very different when she arrived yesterday.”
“I think she updated the costume.” Jihyun glanced at her curiously now, his fingers stilling. “Did something happen?”
Rika flushed, pulling back. “No, nothing,” she blurted. How was she supposed to explain her instant, visceral reaction earlier? If she couldn’t explain it to herself, how could she even find the words to tell him? Smiling weakly, she added, “I just forgot who she was, for a moment.”
“You forgot?” The words had the opposite effect and Jihyun frowned. He set aside the camera, reaching forward to cradle her cheek. His thumb brushed her baggy eyes. “You haven’t been sleeping properly.”
Instinctively, she leaned into his warm touch. “There’s just a lot to do. Once I catch up with my work, I’ll get a good night’s rest.”
His frown grew deeper. “You don’t have to do all that work alone. I’ve finished most of the advertising work, I can take on other tasks.”
It was tempting. Scattered around the room were bills, forms, layouts and other tasks. It wouldn’t hurt to give him just a little bit. Yet, this was her circus, her job. If she couldn’t handle her ringmaster’s duties, then what was she doing here?
And if she wasn’t needed here, then where would she be needed?
“It’s fine,” Rika lied, pressing a kiss to his palm. “I have it under control.”
-x-
Once a week, Rika had to inspect the equipment, making sure everything was up to order. It was a serious task. She took it seriously. She was definitely not using it as an excuse to stand stock still next to the outdoor paddock, watching as MC ran through her acts.
Honestly, what was she doing here? The sun was high in the sky, as sure a sign as any that Rika had to go before she got even further behind in her duties.  Yet, she couldn’t tear her eyes away as MC stood on her horse’s saddle, looking as steady as though she were on land. Today, MC was dressed down, wearing a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. She still looked utterly handsome.
Now that she had time to think about it, Rika had seen her before, only she had been so busy rushing through her duties that she hadn’t paid her any mind. Maybe it was a good thing she hadn’t noticed—it was hard not to stop and watch as MC shifted through her stances. It was like watching a bird in flight, free, graceful, and entirely in its element.
“Oh!” Noticing her, MC almost tipped over.
“Careful!” Rika stepped forward, grasping the fence.
MC righted herself right away. Sliding down onto the saddle, she gently slowed her horse before coming to a stop right in front of Rika. With a laugh, she rubbed her neck sheepishly. “That was a close one.”
“It scared me,” Rika admitted, her heart still pounding from fear.
“Sorry about that, Ms. Kim.” MC ducked her head apologetically before sliding off her horse. She landed on the dirt with a soft thud.
“Rika,” she corrected automatically.
“Oh.” MC’s eyes widened and she swallowed thickly. “Rika, then. You can call me MC.”
There was something about the way her name rolled off MC’s tongue. Rika tried not to think about it. “Your performance was so amazing, I didn’t think you could stumble.”
“Really?” MC smiled brightly, still a bright red. Rika wasn’t sure if it was from adrenaline or embarrassment. Or maybe even something else, entirely. “I actually fall a lot. I’ve never really performed in front of such a big group before. I was afraid I’d do it during the show, but I got lucky.”
“You didn’t look nervous at all,” Rika reassured, surprised by the confession. “I thought you were a natural.”
“I practiced.” MC grinned boyishly. Her short hair ruffled with a stray breeze. “I had a lot of scrapes before I auditioned here.” She rubbed her arm ruefully. “Well, I guess I still have some now. I’ve got a long way to go before I’m a pro.
“That’s the mark of a true performer.” Rika chuckled. Everyone here kept striving for a higher point, a greater success. Even Jumin and Zen, who didn’t have a humble bone in their bodies, still pushed themselves for better performance.
“I’m not good enough to be called that,” MC replied bashfully, looking pleased nonetheless. She delicately clasped Rika’s hand. “If you want, I can show you a new act I’ve been trying.”
A pleasant jolt ran up Rika’s arm and she almost said Yes.
Almost, but the sun was still high, her checklist unfinished, and she had wasted enough time was it was. Reluctantly, she shook her head and stepped back. Her hand dangled limply by her side. “I still have a few errands to complete.”
MC’s expression dimmed slightly before she rubbed her neck sheepishly. “Right, I’m sure you have a lot to do. Maybe next time.”
“Maybe,” Rika echoed, a sense of hollowness filling her.
-x-
Rika stood in the center of the arena, the bright lights falling on her. Above her, she knew Zen was already starting his descent from his high-wire act. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,” she announced, drawing their audience’s eyes to her instead of the shadows as they moved equipment around the stage.
In her bright red tailcoat, she was impossible to miss. “You have seen our performers soar like bird, but have you seen anyone fly like a cannonball?”
A drumroll started, Saeran following her cues faithfully.
A second spotlight shone to her right as the cannon finally stood in place. Yoosung honked brightly as he stood next to it.
As the spotlight widened, encompassing the entire tent, Rika stealthily moved to the side as the clowns took over the floor. Above her, the crowd laughed at their antics, as Yoosung and his friends tried to figure out what the cannon was.
She wished she could share their joy. Instead, she was all too keenly aware of the empty seats above her, the delay in the music, the shift in the background as Vanderwood adjusted the nets for the cannon.
The show had to be better. Tonight would be another sleepless night.
-x-
Seated in the costume tent, Rika picked up a pair of blue sequin pants, admiring how the light hit the small mirrors sewn in. The clothes were in good order, they looked appropriately modern, and so she hung them back on the rack.
Maybe she could put off changing their base theme until next year. By that point, they’d need a wardrobe change anyways.
“Hey, Rika!”
It wasn’t like audiences didn’t like their current fantasy theme anyways.
“Rika!”
That jerked her out of her thoughts, and she snapped her head to her right to find Yoosung standing there, juggling three balls effortlessly. Wearing a pair of baggy overalls and a bright red nose, he looked like he needed a costume upgrade.
“Oh, Yoosung.” Embarrassed, she put back the dress she’d been inspecting. “Is something wrong?”
“Sorta.” There had been a time when he couldn’t even manage that with two balls and she felt proud at his progress. “Not for me, but…well, for you.”
“For me?” Perplexed, she raised a brow.
He stepped back, trying to keep the balls in the air. “It’s just…I was thinking…you could use a break.” A ball slipped out of his grasp, hitting his foot, and he jumped back as the rest fell down after. “Whoops.”
Rika giggled as he quickly picked up and pocketed the ball. Clasping her hands behind her, she teased, “Are you sure you don’t need a break?”
“Not you too. It’s bad enough Saeran can do, like, ten of these.” Yoosung pouted, glaring at her balefully. “He doesn’t even practice. I know he’s just doing this to show off.”
“I don’t think he is?” Rika scratched her cheek. To be honest, it was hard to tell with him sometimes.
“I know he is—wait, that’s not what I’m here for.” Yoosung grabbed her hand, squeezing it tightly. “Rika, seriously, you need a break.”
Part of her wondered if Jihyun had talked to him. His palm was warm and sweaty but she didn’t pull away. “Yoosung, I’m fine.”
“You’re not,” he argued, stomping a foot in frustration. “You’re doing too much work again. You always do this.”
“I’m not doing too much,” she protested. “Jihyun’s taking care of advertising—”
“And you’re doing everything else again.” Yoosung tightened his grip. “You’re always the first one up, the last one asleep. Every day you’re running from tent to tent. I don’t think anyone’s seen you rest for more than five minutes.”
“That’s…that’s not true,” she denied weakly.
“I can help you, you know? I can do more than clown around.” He looked down at her desperately and she realized with a start that at some point, he’d grown taller than her. “Jaehee said she could handle the daily checks. Everyone wants to help you.”
“I…” Rika bit her lip, staring at their clasped hands, at how his fingers dug into her skin.
“Please,” he pleaded again.
Even his hands had grown bigger and stronger than hers when she hadn’t noticed. Closing her eyes, she nodded. “I’ll think about it.”
-x-
Somehow, she found herself back at the paddock. Rika didn’t know when she’d started to come here when she was worried, but her feet always brought her here when she needed to think.
By this point, MC stopped stumbling when she’d arrived. Instead, she smoothly slipped into her saddle, looking like a horsewoman of old as she and her steed quickly cantered toward Rika. “Good afternoon!”
“Good afternoon,” Rika replied automatically. “I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
“Not at all.” MC smiled sunnily. She patted her horse’s flank. “We love it when you come, right, buddy?”
“Me too,” she murmured absentmindedly. “I like coming here too.”
There was something calming about MC’s presence, though for once even she wasn’t enough to stop the thoughts swarming Rika’s mind. There was so much to do. Jihyun wanted to help. But she had to be able to do it herself, it was pointless otherwise. Yoosung and Jaehee had offered their aid. But if she couldn’t do it on her own, why was she even here?
Her mind ran in circles, jumping back and forth between thoughts. The others had their own jobs. This was all she had: her position as ringmaster, her tasks as the manager. If she lost them, what else would she have?
“I was actually just thinking—Zen mentioned that we could try a double act, and I might not be as flexible as him but—” MC cut herself off. Gripping the fence, she leaned closer, peering up at Rika. “Are you okay?”
Rika flushed and stepped back, startled. “I-I’m fine.”
MC frowned, not buying it for an instant. “You’re not.”
“I am,” she repeated, insistent. “Really, I am.”
Crossing her arms, MC regarded her doubtfully for a moment. An unreadable emotion flickered across her face and she nodded. “Fine.”
“That—”
Before Rika could say anything further, MC opened the paddock and grabbed Rika’s wrist, pulling her in. “Then you have time to go for a ride with me today.”
“What?” Rika balked, but MC was stronger than she looked. “I can’t, I really don’t—”
“Have the time?” MC finished, shaking her head. Her hand was warm on Rika’s skin, her face too close. “It’s only for a few minutes. Think of it as a break.”
Rika faltered. “That’s not…”
Sensing weakness, MC pressed, “Then think of it as helping me with my show.”
“I…I can’t ride,” she argued weakly, unable to pull away, unable to do anything but follow as MC guided her to her horse.
MC chuckled. “That’s fine, I can. You don’t have to do everything, right? That’s why we’re all here.”
Part of Rika wondered how much MC knew, if Jihyun and Yoosung had come to her. The rest of her didn’t care as MC’s hands were on her waist, guiding her up onto the saddle, or as MC slipped on behind her, her arms caging Rika in place.
MC leaned forward, her breath hot on Rika’s ear. “Don’t worry, it’ll just be a normal ride.”
And without further warning, the horse sprang forward and they were off. Rika gasped as they picked up speed, moving from a trot to a canter to an all out run. The wind whistled as they rode, her body bumping on the uneven ground.
“Easy does it,” MC murmured, and Rika wasn’t sure if she was talking to her or the horse.
It didn’t matter. They rounded the edge of the paddock, turning swiftly. Rika had ridden Zen’s motorcycle once and there was a similar feel of flying, of freedom. A thrill ran up her spine as they charged across the dirt.
The sensation refused to leave long after she slipped off the horse into MC’s waiting arms, their heads almost bumping into each other at the clumsy dismount. Rika laughed and MC grinned. “It’s fun, right?”
“Yeah.” Rika pulled back reluctantly, brushing her messy hair back behind her ears. “A lot of fun.”
“Good, I’m glad you liked it.” MC reached up, pushing a stray lock out of Rika’s face. “You look better now.”
If her face felt hot, Rika blamed it on the ride.
-x-
Rika stared at the paperwork in her room. There were bills to pay, forms to fill out, material to approve. She had to pick a new theme for their next season and the lineup to match. It was something she used to look forward to.
Now, it was just another chore. She had forgotten how fun working at the circus could be, how fun it was supposed to be.
She could still feel the wind in her ears, MC’s arm around her waist.
That didn’t mean this couldn’t be fun again.
-x-
Rika knocked on a familiar trailer. There was a time when she used to go to Jihyun nightly, when she all but lived in his trailer. It had been too long since she’d visited him. Since she’d made the time for something other than work.
A disheveled Jihyun opened the door, his expression confused as he took her in. “Rika,” he breathed, her name several questions in one.
Rika smiled softly. “Jihyun, could you help me?”
His expressions softened immediately, and he stepped back. “Of course.”

[wereshifter au masterpost]
“I thought Satanists sacrifice cats?”
“Get your hands off that dog, Munson!”
Before Eddie could fully process what was happening, the dog he’s befriended was off the grass, standing between him and the group of guys yelling at him.
“Come here, buddy, you’ll be safe with us.” One of the guys reached out his hand to the animal.
But the dog’s hair raised across its spine, almost doubling his already wolf-like size, and the snarl that rumbled out of him made Eddie flinch. It took a slow step towards the group, baring its fangs. The group stumbled back, tripping on each other.
“Shit!”
“It’s a fucking hellhound!”
“It’s possessed!”
They backed away, unwilling to let the dog out of their sight and too scared to run and risk getting chased. But the dog didn’t seem interested in pursuit, even when they reached the path and Eddie could hear them finally break into a run.
He held his breath, warily watching the huge dog before him turn around. Its fur was flat and pettable again, and it huffed angrily, nose touching his arm as if checking on him.
“Uh, thank you? I guess?” Eddie offered, feeling off after the weird encounter. The dog lay down next to him, looking up briefly in a request for more pets. Eddie obliged, burying his hand back in the soft fur. His animal friend looked forward, daring anyone else to come and disturb them. He chuckled at the thought.
“You wanna be my guard dog?”
It huffed, not looking back at him.
“Want me to call you a good boy?” he smiled knowingly even though he didn’t know anything about having a dog. “You did good, yes—such a brave dog. My little hero,” he offered praises and added another hand to scratch him fervently with each word.
The dog looked back at him, eyes sparkly and happy. It flipped on its back, wagging its tail and presenting its belly.
“You want a belly rub, huh?” Eddie asked, hands hovering. The dog barked once, tail wagging faster, making him laugh. “Right, you are a good boy. Here.” He lowered his hands and started scratching. The dog’s skin and short fur were so soft he wanted to bury his face in it, feel it warm against his cheek and listen to the heartbeat. He wished, not for the first time, the dog was his.
The sun started to set and Eddie knew it was time to part. But as he said his usual goodbye and dusted off his pants, the dog didn’t trot away as usual. Instead, it joined him by his side on the walk back to the trailer park.
“You wanna walk me home?” he asked, cocking his head.
The dog looked up at him briefly but otherwise seemed to be on high alert, looking around and eyeing passerbys. He paid no mind to other dogs and didn’t stray away from Eddie’s left leg. Eddie patted his head.
“You wanna protect me, huh? You really are a guard dog.”
In answer, the dog’s side pressed briefly against his thigh.
They walked the whole route together and while they got a few confused stares, nobody dared to bother them. Soon, the trailer park was in view and Eddie stopped.
“Well, thanks for-”
But the dog walked past him, past the trailer park gates and looked back at him expectantly.
“Huh. Okay.”
Eddie caught up and the dog led him all the way to his trailer’s door.
“Okay, now you really gotta go,” he said, looking down at the dog. He leaned in to pet it, unable to resist the urge. “You were a medal-worthy boy today, thank you for scaring off these guys.” He chuckled when the dog licked his hand. “But I can’t take you in, I’m sure somebody else is waiting for you at your home.” The dog huffed and Eddie straightened up, hiding his hands in his pockets. “Go home.”
With one last press of its head to his leg, the dog walked away. Eddie watched it go, but just before disappearing behind another trailer it turned around and sat down with a heavy finality of a dog that’s not moving anywhere. They stared at each other.
“You gonna wait for me to go in?” he asked, already fishing out his keys.
It might have been a trick of late evening light, but he could swear he saw the dog nod.
“See? I’m safe now,” he said after stepping through the threshold. The dog was still sitting in place. “Goodnight, buddy,” he waved, feeling only a little awkward reasoning with an animal. He closed the door.
When he looked through the window, the dog was gone.
Werewolf Steve but Eddie's the only one out of the loop. One day Dustin found him in the park petting dogs and Eddie unloaded on him his childhood dream of having a pet. Dustin immediatelly goes to Steve to dish the info, waggling his eyebrows the whole time.
A couple days later Eddie makes friends with a huge dog with fluffy brown fur who wanders the park without an owner and seems interested in the metalhead's attention exclusively.
