A = Admiration (what do they absolutely adore about you?)

Everything about you, I think she would worship the ground you walk on. But I think she especially adores your personality.

B = Beauty (what do they find most beautiful about you?)

I think Julien would find your eyes and voice the most beautiful. No matter what color your eyes are I could see her staring in and just getting lost in your irises. When I say voice, I don’t mean singing, I mean your everyday speaking voice, the quirk in your accent (no matter where you’re from) and especially your laugh, she loves your laugh.

C = Call (how often does she call/text?)

I feel like Julien doesn’t go on her phone much, except when she is communicating with you. I could see her sending you videos of what she’s working on in the studio, or if she is away she would definitely call you at night, do that thing where you fall asleep on facetime with one another. I think she’d like to check up on you a lot so lots of updates and check-ins.

D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)

Honestly I could see Julien liking just staying in and ordering takeout and watching some movie, or going out to a fancy restaurant. Omg!!! Picnic dates too!!! 

E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)

I think it might take Julien a while to be super open and express her emotions around you, but once she feels safe she expresses all types of emotion around you. 

F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)

I think she would want one, but not for a while. She’s good with sticking to a couple dogs and maybe a cat.

G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)

I think she definitely will get you gifts if she's on tour and sees something she knows you’d love. I think she’d be the type to hand make you gifts or buy you flowers “just ‘cause”. 

H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)

I imagine Julien loves to hold your hand. Whenever you two are standing next to each other she’ll have your hand in hers or she has an arm around your waist. 

I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)

I think she would panic no matter how you got hurt, like if you got a papercut she’d drop everything to see if you were okay.

J = Jokes (do they like to joke around with or prank you? how?)

I think Julien would joke sometimes, but I don’t really think she would prank you. 

K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)

She would kiss you gently, both hands holding your face, or you’d be hand in hand. I think that she would make each kiss special, but also while making you want more.

L = Love (how do they show you they love you/love languages?)

Physical touch and quality time for sure!!! Like I said earlier she’d hold your hand whenever she could. Love just spending time together, even if the focus isn’t on eachother, maybe like sitting on the couch each of you reading a separate book, but you’re both there and close and that's what matters!!!

M = Memory (favorite memory together?)

I imagine y’all did one of those 5 minute painting swaps and you both had a lot of fun creating art to hang up in your shared homes!! I can kinda see that date ending up with paint everywhere and a lot of giggles.

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

I think Julien’s worst fear would be losing you. To her you’re the light of her life and she wouldn’t know what to do if she lost you.

O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)

I feel like she would sleep with socks on… 

P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)

OMGGG!!! Definitely the basic ones like baby, love, honey, but maybe more specific ones based on your personality or certain attributes, like if you have a lot of piercings she’d call you punk. I can also for some reason see her calling her lover like berry. I could see her calling you her “heart” as well.

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)

Anytime spent with you if time spent well. I think she loves having late night conversations while the TV plays a movie y’all have seen a bunch of times, or reading to each other!!! Like you’d have a little book club just between yourselves where you read together and then talk about the book!!! That would be so cute!!!

R = Rhythm (has she written any songs about you?)

FOR SURE!!!! OMG!!! Every since she met you she finds it hard to write a song about anything other than you… (the album she's currently working on is def a bunch of love songs all dedicated to you)

S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)

Completely, she tells you everything, and you listen to every word she says (and vice versa)!!!

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

In true lesbian fashion, not very long. I’m thinking y’all were friends for a while before you started to date. But it was only like 2 dates before she asked you to be her girlfriend.

U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?)

I think she does whatever you need at the moment. Need time to yourself to cool off? Done, she’ll take the dogs out for a quick walk. Need a hug because of a bad day? You’re already in her arms.

V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)

I think Julien takes any chance to show you off. “Oh this is my girlfriend… aren’t they stunning?” Or if you’re a musician or artist I think she'll post about your art/music. 

W = Wild Card (random!!)

I think that she wouldn't post much about you, and only because she wants to keep her relationship private. But I do think she would have a private instagram account with only her friends on it and she would post a lot more about you there. 

X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)

I think Julien would be able to read you really well, especially once you have been together a while. I think she might even know how you're feeling before you even know how you're feeling!!

Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)

Either very romantic and extravagant, like she’d take you on a little trip, nice dinner. Or it would be like, a lazy Sunday morning where you two sleep in and your in the kitchen making breakfast and talking about going to a farmers market for some fruit and all the sudden she just blurts out “marry me”. She's just so in love with you she can’t wait any longer.

Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)

I think she would feel the most calm in your presence, just by being in the same room as you!!

AITA for telling my brother his wife is using him?

This may be long but I want to make sure there is enough info for you to give an accurate judgment. TLDR at the end but I encourage reading the full post

I (25f) have an older brother, J (28m). I also have a younger brother (22m), L. J and I were always close when we were younger then grew apart as we got older, the boys always were close. The year J graduated high school we became close again.

J met his gf A (29-31f, I dont even know how old she is but she's older then J) during college. I remember the first time A came home with him, and she was very sweet but very nervous. We clicked and had a good conversation that lasted hours (we all were at our parents house and us girls had to share a room and the boys did too). Anytime there were holidays we stayed at our parents and did this (big holidays that colleges had off like Christmas and Thanksgiving)

We met up a couple of times and all was fine. It was hard as they lived far away from where we grew up (2-4 hours depending on traffic and routes). Then I moved to the country, about 20 minutes away from them. We met up more often, but only maybe about once every 3 months. No big deal, I was busy working. Then J and A got engaged and it felt like everything changed.

I would invite them to hang out or get dinner, but J and A would make excuses. J would be like "A can't come so we won't make it" even when I said "okay but what if only you came? You're my brother?" He would make excuses. The days they agreed to meet up, suddenly day of couldn't go. He was tired after work, she wasn't feeling good, the car wasn't working. Anything and everything you could think of. I did notice whenever L came to visit me and stay, J and A would always be available to meet up, even if it was last minute.

So I figured...it somehow must be me? And then they got married. And it was beautiful.

Or so im told as it was a private ceremony and I wasn't invited :) I actually was originally told the date, which I asked off of work for, but then I got a text a week prior saying "guess what happened tonight" and then was told they got married. L was there. Our parents and myself were not. A did tell me she didn't feel right inviting our parents if her parents weren't there...but why not me? I was told it was a private ceremony and only L was there as a witness, but one of their friend's posted pictures and it had over 5 different people in them

I tried to let it go but honestly it hurt me and pissed me off and everything kept adding onto it. I have zero clue what the hell i did. I have texted J and asked him point blank if he is mad at me, he would deny. I asked for A's number cause he mentioned she was lonely and had lost friends, I said we could go get our nails done since that's something she likes (I dont but I figured I'd extend an olive branch) he refused to give it to me. It seems its me but again I have zero clue why.

It worsened after me and J got into an argument. They canceled again, and I do know A was having a bought of depression at this time. I understood, as someone diagnosed with depression and anxiety. But J told me I never would understand (A was still going out to places and hanging out with friends, meanwhile there were days I couldn't get out of bed and called into work sick. I know we shouldn't compare mental illness but it seemed like an excuse to me. A also would do things that she has said makes her mental health worse, like reading and watching things that triggers her). The whole reason I wanted to hang out is because I had Christmas gifts from our parents and a few of our childhood friends for them (L was out of the country at this time and had mailed a gift to them). They kept bailing and I tried for TWO MONTHS, I finally delivered the items the week after Valentines.

One of our friends was a baker and TOLD THEM she baked them a cake, special for them because A has dietary restrictions due to a chronic disease. They knew this and it spoiled. So I was upset for my friend, and I lied and said they got it to save her the hurt.

But when J finally told me to drop off the items I blew up at him. We stood outside his house and yelled at each other. He flat out told me to stop being so emotional and that I was letting hormones get in the way of thinking, and that I should understand A being depressed. I did! I yelled at him he should get his head out of his ass and that he is letting down not just me but our friends, especially the baker who has a waitlist and made stuff SPECIAL for them. He didn't thank me for my gift, but texted each individual person for theirs.

That was in 2022. A month after I apologized and he said he forgave me. But nothing has changed. Since then they didn't wish me happy birthday (they called L on his, he is now living with me temporarily, but when I pointed out I didn't get a happy birthday from anyone *literally only one friend wished me a happy birthday and L, even my own parents forgot* A told me I needed to get over myself and that birthdays weren't that important to them so I shouldn't take any offense. I didnt expect them to wish me a happy birthday this year because of that, but my true friends and my parents did remember this year),. They didn't come to my college graduation. I stopped texting J and I hadn't heard a response since. We did see each other this past Christmas coincidentally, not planned as they didn't come to our parents. J was pleasant, A said nothing but watched me the whole time, and I made excuses to leave this Christmas party as I didnt even know they knew the person throwing the party.

I came home early from work this past week and J was visiting L (something J claims he can't do during weekdays cause he works 9-5 during the week...allegedly). J gave me a hug and we all chatted for about an hour, it felt like old times, but then his wife called. It was a smooth conversation then I got brought up, and suddenly A needed J back home immediately. He bailed on dinner plans he and L had (L had spent all day cooking a roast, it was delicious btw and yes L was upset J didn't stay).

I had enough. I called J during his "work hours" on his cell. J answered and I chewed him out. I said our brother was hurt and whatever the issue with me is HAS to stop. If he doesn't tell me whats wrong, I CANT fix it. J told me there was nothing wrong with me and I was reading too into it. I pointed out some of the same instances I listed and he told me I was reading into it. He then accidentally let slip that A didn't want us talking. Which I figured. I blew up and told him A was using him. A was turning him against me and our parents *i am too lazy to go back but he stopped talking to our parents the same time he stopped talking to me but he always talked to L*. I mentioned how she is an adult and if she has an issue with me she needs to tell me, but instead she's a fucking coward. J yelled at me that she has anxiety and I yelled back "bitch I do too! I'm on fucking meds for it" which i know she isnt. J hung up on me.

Not only is everything above an issue, A also: doesn't have a job and only J has the income. Claims its because of her illness, the one that causes dietary restrictions, yet EATS said things even though she knows makes her sick. She won't let J meet up with our childhood friends. A also has stsrted getting J to take edibles with her. If J is tested, it will get him fired from his job. But then she complains he's being a loser if he doesn't do edibles with her.

The kicker is this: A solely used to date women. J is NOT a woman, nor does he want to identify as one. J knows A used to date women, and again tells me I should be more considerate seeing as how I am openly bisexual. However, and I havent told J this, one of the conversations I did have with A after they got married, she told me TO MY FACE "yeah, I never imagined marrying a guy yet here I am." Laughed and I kind of was like oh haha, isnt it crazy how things work out, to which she said "I dont even like men!" Slapped my thigh laughing and continued laughing. I was bewildered and when J had returned and asked what we were talking about we both changed the subject.

I did tell L when that happened and he thought it was weird but we couldn't change anything as they were married. I dont know if I should tell J.

But really I do feel as though A is using J, but now im wondering if I should lay it out more clearly WHY. Or if I should stay out of it. They already seem to hate me, so part of me is like why not go for it. But L is talking me off that bridge (my therapist is also testing me for something that isnt solely anxiety and depression) . I know J is hurt as he told L such, and part of me feels bad I yelled, but also the rest of me wants to key his fucking car and tell him to shove it up his ass and ban him from seeing L at my house as it is MY house even though L is living there

eddie loving sfw alphabet

content warnings: brief mention of drugs, other than that, it's just fluff :)))

pairing: eddie loving/roundtree x fem!band member!reader

A = affection (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)

eddie shows affection through physical touch. he’ll link your pinkies together when you’re walking and he almost always has his hand somewhere on your body, preferably your lower back or your bicep.

B = best friend (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)

eddie is a great friend but he’s not afraid to tell you the truth, either, even if that can come off harsh at times. i think he’d end up instigating the friendship based on the fact that he’s an extrovert at heart.

C = cuddles (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)

eddie isn’t a big fan of cuddling but when he is, he likes being the big spoon. he likes to feel your body pushed up against him, your weight pinning him to the bed.

D = domestic (do they want to settle down? how are they at cooking and cleaning?)

eddie is a restless man but i think he would want to settle down with the right person. he’s not the best cook, but he’s a good baker and an excellent cleaner!

E = ending (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

eddie would be the kind to rip the bandaid off. he does it as quickly but as delicately as he can cause at the end of the day, he still cares about you. if you start to cry, he feels so bad and he'll pull you into his arms until you've calmed down.

F = fiance (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)

i feel like this could go one of two ways, depending on how quick you and eddie connect. he either wants to wait until you're both ready or he'll be high as a kite and propose that you elope or get hitched LMAO

G = gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally)

eddie is super gentle physically. emotionally, on the other hand... i mean, it was the 70's, where men were terrified to show how they felt. eddie isn't opposed to the idea of showing you his emotions but he definitely needs some coaxing and encouragement

H = hugs (do they like hugs? how often? what are their hugs like?)

any chance eddie gets, he's hugging you. he's like a human teddy bear. his favourite hugs are from behind, when he can rest his chin on your shoulder and kiss your forehead.

I = i love you (how fast do they say the l word?)

eddie knows that he loves you months before he says it aloud. he's terrified of scaring you off or pushing you too far. honestly, i think he would tell you in the middle of the night when he thinks you're already asleep.

J = jealous (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they're jealous?)

eddie is such a jealous person but it's not because he doesn't trust you-- he's just possessive over what's his (this isn't intended to say you're a piece of property, i want to make that clear.) he slings his arms around your shoulders and kisses you when he's jealous until the stranger takes the hint and leaves.

K = kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)

eddie likes to kiss you on the lips and on the cheek. his kisses are soft but passionate. he likes to be kissed on the lips and, he won't admit this, but also on the forehead.

L = little ones (how are they around children?)

eddie's really good around children, although sometimes he will dangle julia in the air, holding onto her by her ankles and he very nearly gives both you and camila a heart attack every damn time. in saying that, he's willing to go to war for the kids he loves, so he would make an amazing father.

M = mornings (how are mornings spent with them?)

mornings with eddie are spent with long, lazy kisses and breakfast on the balcony!

N = nights (how are nights spent with them?)

nights with eddie are spent running through songs and humming tunes as he plays a bass line and messes around with chords. they are spent smoking and kissing and cuddling before falling asleep on his chest.

O= open (when would they start to reveal things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

eddie is the kind of guy who keeps everything to himself and then drops the most random lore regarding his trauma if the room gets too quiet.

P = patience (how easily angered are they?)

eddie can get irritated and frustrated quite easily but he rarely gets angry and i think it's important to note that difference.

Q = quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you say in passing or does he forget everything?)

eddie forgets everything, i'm sorry but it's true. he's got so much on his mind that he just forgets it all. the one thing he remembers is your anniversary date, which counts for something, i suppose!

R= remember (what is their favourite moment in your relationship?)

eddies favourite memory is when you first joined the band. he just remembers being so starstruck by you that he kept playing all the wrong notes.

S = security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)

eddie is very protective but it comes from a place of love. he likes to protect you by standing up for you but he also knows when to stand back and let you handle yourself. he insists he's too macho and brave to be protected himself.

T = try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

eddie does everything last minute but somehow, it works out quite well. gifts are the one thing he will plan in advance because he wants to make sure you're really going to like what he picks for you.

U = ugly (what are some bad habits of theirs?)

eddie sticks gum to any surface he can find instead of throwing it in a bin / trash can.

V = vanity (how concerned are they with their looks?)

eddie knows he's pretty, so he's not too worried about his looks. he does like to make an effort to look good, though.

W = whole (would they feel incomplete without you?)

oh absolutely. he'd try to fill the void with drugs and alcohol and other girls but he always comes back to you.

X = xtra (a random headcanon for them)

eddie told warren he was going to marry you after knowing you for approximately five minutes.

Y = yuck (what are some habits they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)

eddie doesn't like people who snap their fingers at waitresses and waiters. he will get up and walk out.

Z = zzz (what's a sleep habit of theirs?)

eddie tosses and turns something chronic in his sleep!

Need to have a bit of a moment about feminine-presenting fantasy Dwarf representation....

So I've been in "The Hobbit" fandom in full enthusiasm ✨hyperfixaaaaaaation✨ for about a year and a half now, and one thing that is EXTREMELY important to me is that fantasy Dwarves, in any Universe, are a) short, though not as short as my beloved Gnomes, and b) THICK. WIDE. EARTHY. And I know that working with taller human actors in the Hobbit films didn't portray that perfectly, but in general, it seems like that perception holds true enough and, again, has carried over into other media (and was there BEFORE the Hobbit movies in the first place).

They should ALSO be hairy, in the best of circumstances, though I understand we don't always get that regardless of what gender presentation is involved. Ahem.

In most cases - including those films AND the book they spring from - the focus is on masculine-presenting Dwarves.

BUT.

Those proportions usually hold true for feminine-presenting characters as well.

Some examples:

(From "The Hobbit" films specifically.)

(From "Rings of Power." HAIL Princess Disa. Though she needs a fuller beard, too - smoochy picture included to highlight what fuzz she does have. And because she and Durin are adorable.)

(From World of Warcraft - with feminine-presenting Night Elf for reference since that still b a r e l y counts as stocky, but their "average woman shape" is even more on the thin side, so I still think the intention was for us to view the Dwarves as thicker with that comparison.)

Those being my biggest two points of personal reference, I'm gonna stop there - but the POINT of all of this is that I recently read "A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic" by J. Penner.

Which IS delicious.

And includes a feminine-presenting Dwarf named Dolgrila "Doli" Butterbuckle. Who I would already freaking DIE for istg.

Her introduction, from the text:

And I zero percent mean any of the following as a complaint against the artist. I am sure they were just following the publisher's order. And BIG YAY for the publisher actually hiring a HUMAN!! Good choices are being made, there.

BUT.

If I didn't know already that Doli is a Dwarf, I WOULD NOT KNOW THAT FROM THIS IMAGE.

She looks, basically, human. She is almost just as skinny as the human woman (Arleta Starstone, also a badass character) on the cover of the first book.

Referring again to the images of the World of Warcraft Dwarves above, though, she DOES look a lot like them, proportionally. So I'm wondering, now that I've done that research/refresher, if that is the Dwarven standard that the Powers that Be were going off of, in this case. Especially since she is clean-shaven. And especially since in one scene, she alters one of her own dresses to fit the aforementioned human - though in my reading of it, I just assumed that she took in the waist of the dress, too, as well as adding onto the length.

But to my eye, with my Hobbit-fandom/folklore heavy standards - at best, she looks like a half-human, half-Gnome, to me, especially with her nearly reaching the shoulder of a being that should be MUCH taller than her, as far as I can tell.

(I will admit I adore her outfit and want one, please.)

(And I will also admit that I MIGHT be assuming that person behind her is taller than they actually are, and I DO hope I am proven wrong. If she is like 4 feet tall, maybe they are only like 5 1/2 feet tall or so. I guess we'll find out in 11 months.)

So. That said.

Part of what attracts me to fantasy Dwarves in the first place is that they ARE plus-size. Unforgivingly so, most of the time. As a short, plus-size person myself, they are a haven in a swath of feminine-presenting representations across lots, and lots, of media that treats the feminine-presenting form as "average" height or taller, AND much thinner than most non-Hollywood women actually are, these days.

So to have seen this, when I realized the next book was about Doli and rushed (in my elation) to read the synopsis, was a notable disappointment.

ANYWAY, I will be drawing Doli myself, as I saw her, for self-care purposes. And here's the bare bones so far:

“What does that mean? Arleta asked, intrigued by Doli’s quick change of subject.

Doli’s eyes lit with pleasure. “I visited the library here – it’s massive by the way – and read through a few books on elven culture. You know, to figure things out. I love libraries and books.” She leaned in closer. “Some of them – not all – get night visions of their soul partner. They can experience these for years, starting when they are very young.”

Arleta tipped her head in great interest. “Do they always find these soul partners?”

“No,” Doli said with a hint of wistfulness. “If they don’t, they will never settle for anyone else. They could never fully commit to another.”

“That’s sad.” Arleta winced as the large ogre she’d seen before took his seat directly in front of her, completely blocking the stage.

“Or romantic,” Doli sighed.")

And all of all of THAT said, I do highly recommend the book!! Illustration issues aside - and I'm looking at you too, World of Warcraft - the more Dwarven romances we support, and more feminine-presenting Dwarven representation we support, the more (and better) we'll get!!
