1930 Cord L-29 Cabriolet - ACD Museum, August 2023
The Cord L-29 was the first successful mass-produced front-wheel-drive American automobile. But it was much more than that. Look at the styling of this automotive masterpiece. It was styled by Alan Leamy and was conceived as a single unit with the symmetry of the interior reflecting the external lines. Automotive styling had come into its own with this design. No longer was it an afterthought. Leamy incorporated the mechanical features of the front drive unit into the subtle style of the Cord. Cloaking the most technologically advanced automobile of its day in beauty, Leamy ensured the L-29 was superior both mechanically and aesthetically.
SPECIFICATIONS Model: Cabriolet Wheelbase: 137.5 inches Engine: Lycoming in-line eight-cylinder Transmission: Three speed manual Displacement: 299 cubic inches Horsepower: 125 at 3,400 rpm Weight: 4,500 lbs. Price When New: $3,195

Two training aircraft from the late sixties. An MiG-21F 'Fishbed-B' (or very early MiG-21F-13) and a Czechoslovakian-made L-29 Delfin. In the Soviet flight schools, the first two years flew in L-29s, then the third and fourth years in MiG-21s.

jópofaság, via Gábor Hadron / Katonai repülés fb.
EZEK A FOTÓK SOSEM LÉTEZTEK.
Ezért megcsináltam őket. Két okból is, egyrészt mert érdekel a magyar katonai repülés, másrészt mert a 60-as, 70-es években nem készültek jó minőségű, éles HD-nek mondható fotók az akkori magyar vadászgépekről. (Főleg a levegőben repülés közben) Próbáltam keresni az interneten jó fotókat, de csak néhány lepukkant kiállított gépről találtam nagyfelbontású fotót ezekről a típusokról. Ezeket használtam fel.
Először is alaposan le kellett takarítanom a repcsiket, majd el kellett távolítanom a futóműveket, mivel ezek a földön álltak. Ezek után "magyarosítanom" kellett őket, azaz magyar felségjelzés, oldalszám....stb, minden egyéb apró részlet, ami megtalálható volt az akkori magyar gépeken. (Archív fotókról lestem le a pontos részleteket, amik természetesen nem voltak jó minőségűek.)
Majd pilótákat varázsoltam a gépekbe, ügyelve arra, hogy olyan orosz sisak legyen rajtuk, amiket akkor használtak a magyar pilóták. Miután mindez megvolt, hátteret kellet raknom mögéjük. Ezek a hátterek nagyrészt grafikák, saját készítésű felhőkkel.

Tonight, the remaster of of my L&YR class 29, James!
Top right is as he arrived on Sodor
Top left is if he never had his accident
2nd Right is NWR red
2nd left is BR Black
3rd Right is BR Blure
3rd Left is BR Green
Bottom Right is NWR Green
Bottom Left is an AU where James ends up on the DWR.
Lore Piece for the DWR AU:
"and here we see 52620, a unique variant of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's class 28, it was built as a mogul with 5'6" drivers designed by George Hughes in hopes of curing the class's tendency to dive at speed. While the 52620, then L&YR 1948, did perform stably at speed, it was decided to not pursue any more of this variation.
while normally being a non-standard one off design would have speeled doom for any engine on LMS metals, 52620, then 12620, was spared by a twist of fate. She was at Crewe, set to be scrapped, when Rhyl sheds phoned for an engine to replace another that had been in an accident with some trucks. 52620, had yet to drop her last fire, and so was sent to cover for the the stricken engine
The crews in Wales took a liking to the one off Mogul, and refused to send back the engine, saying she was a perfectly fine locomotive. The engine spent the rest of her life under the LMS and British Railways wandering the region around Rhyl, overhauled at local engine works. By the Time of this picture, British Railway's lack of care toward's their steam engines had taken its tole, but relief was in sight, as come the new year, her home shed will be part of the newly reformed Denbigh and Wrecham Railway"

found out today that the guy i shared a bimah with on the day of our bar/bat mitzvahs died earlier this week. tragic and an awful shock. i wasn’t close with him but he was a kind guy and the only one in his friend group who didn’t bully me in hebrew school and both those things mean something to me, you know?
