FINALLY getting around to watching Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger.

THIS SHOW IS AMAZING!

It is only the second series I can think of NOT set on Earth (the other being Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger) so they can go wild with the World-Building.

Yeah, it's kinda-sorta based on Earth in a vague sense geographically and the name sounds a like like the Japanese word for Earth but this is clearly another planet. And hey, if Star Trek can have a planet that's just a copy of Earth (from the episode Miri), then Super Sentai can have this place.

I love the Five Kingdoms and there super specialized development. I love their Rulers and their weird quirks. I love the bug-themed mecha and the political machinations of the Kingdoms.

And I adore the Royal Rainment Suits!

But above all else, OMG do I love Rita/Papillon-Ohger!

This series is giving us so much good stuff and I am only up to episode 7. I know some spoilers from later but please, don't give me more. This is the kind of inventive series that plays with the tropes of Sentai, mixes them up and gives us something fresh and fun without deconstructing the genre. It's just good, wonderful fun and I need that right now!

Here are some rules and such before I give you a written list of contenders and their schedules.

Think to yourself: "is what I'm about to type about my opponent something I'd like to hear about my favorite blorbo or fandom?" If the answer is "no" don't type it. Hype up your blorbo rather than trash-talk the other gal.

Propaganda is welcome and encouraged (so long as you're following rules 1 & 2). If I miss your propaganda don't hesitate to hop in my inbox and point it out to me. I don't always get notifications on this tumblr account for some reason.

HERE BE SPOILERS (potentially). I don't know every fandom in this tournament but given the nature of these sort of characters, spoilers are highly likely for character reveals! By continuing to follow this blog and participate in this tournament you're consenting to seeing spoilers. I would tag them but I genuinely don't know which characters are spoilers and which aren't.

now, i have no problem with (assumedly) heckyl returning, i love dino charge, but (and i hate to harp on this), how tf is the producer going to say "we can't adapt kyuranger, there are too many rangers" when they have affectively already added 3 "new" rangers to the cosmic fury roster.

at that point, they'd be putting the "kyu" in kyuranger more than the original series did!

and yes, kyuranger did have some interesting design choices for some suits. however, that was never the main point (or any afaik) in any discussion surrounding a kyuranger adaptation, it was really only the two many members thing.

and while i do agree with the sentiment (because i think kyuranger struggled with giving some of it's characters the time of day), it seems at least a bit "hypocritical." like clearly the number of rangers didn't matter if cosmic fury, a 10 episode series, can have 9 active rangers.

i understand things can change, and to be fair, these "new" rangers are characters we already know. it's just a very strange situation i feel like. they're already using the mechs, might as well use the suits? maybe it would've been too expensive, i don't know.

do you think Shou ever second guessed himself when he had to stay behind and spread the legend? do you think he ever went to proclaim the good name of the twelve Kyurangers before he had to stop and remind himself that he was never supposed to fight alongside the nine.

Kotaro was chosen by Big Bear, the man he looked up to more than anyone else, while Tsurugi was the very first Kyuranger far before his time, and had slain Don Armage once before. but Shou was only a Kyuranger because he forced his way into it, at the cost of the man he respected and the people he fought beside.

do you think he ever bonds with Garu about it? about how they both lost so much because they fought back. about how they were both so terrified to ever make that same mistake again. but where Garu dealt with it by giving up, with no hope that things could ever change for the better, Shou dealt with it by putting on a silly face, trying to uplift the spirits of the Kyurangers and make life that little bit more bearable.

for sure, part of why he’s so eager to sacrifice himself - to save Spada from Ikagen and Madako, to protect the whole team from Don Tsurugi’s attack - is to protect the hope that Big Bear entrusted him. but do you ever think that, maybe, Shou doesn’t feel like he deserved that trust?

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger VS Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Police Sentai Patranger!

The cast of Kyuranger and LuPat were spotted filming together. Though no official announcement has been made, it seems that the VS film series may be returning. If not that, then at least another type of crossover is happening with the two series.

I know the theme song probably just has Fern with pink colors to not spoil anything, and she doesn’t really seem like the type to wear pink anyways, but i can’t help but think how funny it would be if Power Rangers’ first and last romances involve green/pink rangers

it's interesting because Fern typically wore purple in Dino Fury, her screen in the opening is pink/purple, but we know there's an orange ranger with the Insta leaks and morpher toy (and just common sense with them using Kyuranger footage). So idk! Either she's orange and the screen is edited to avoid spoilers or she's purple and someone else is going to be orange

I don't think she's pink since Amelia still seems to claim that but yeah it would have been really cute if PR began and ended with a pink/green romance
